All of my rickyl x reader writers rise up.
There are some amazing writers on the app like truly amazing and because I cannot write like that for myself I need one of you to do it for me,
I just need, not want NEED someone to write a fic of daryl and readers relationship after Rick’s “death” like?? And angst would be so absolutely wonderful I love my hurt/comfort
What’s better than Rick and Daryl AND angst
(Hint: nothing)

My opinions for Riordan verse books that no one asked for but will provide anyways
WARNING THERE ARE A LOT OF THESE SO IN THE WORDS OF SCAR 'BE PREPARED'
・Three book long series, first with Luke running away until he finds Thalia, second after they find Annabeth and their travels, third after Thalia dies and their time at camp before Percy, all from Luke's pov, we get more insight on his backstory and how he felt throughout everything outside of Percy's pjo which is where we saw everything. Also maybe we could get some Thalia x Luke before the betrayal..?
・A five book long series with a crossover with mcaga, tkc and pjo/hoo/toa, we already know their are some problems rising and I think some of the interaction (eg. Alex with Nico and Will with Magnus) could be really interesting to see. Also I feel like there could be something involving bringing Jason back as his death felt really unnecessary and sort of... Idk unfinished or something. Another idea I had for this was after maybe the first one or two books Percy in a way becomes Luke, trying to reach him in any way and carrying out his plan of overthrowing the gods however this time not with the help or Kronos but just trying to convince the other demigods to join him and a kind of descent to madness with him being tired of getting used.
・A standalone book, sort of like tsats except it's about Jason's life with Lupa and his time at Camp Jupiter, maybe just a short story but I feel like it could be good.
・Similar to the previous, a story about Reyna and her life before HoO, maybe a split pov with her and her sister because I feel like that story has a lot of potential.
・A book about Leo, set around the same time as tsats, maybe something to do with his dad or with the waystation, probably involving Calypso, Piper and Reyna (maybe him and Cal getting more development (OR A BREAK UP PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF APOLLO) and kind of fleshing her out because right now she doesn't have much character imo) maybe he could also try to convince Hazel or Nico (probably Hazel because I feel like he doesn't have enough development with Nico to play this out) to let him see Jason again and him trying to join him.
・A bunch of short stories (like 10ish pages each length) of Rachel's experiences being the Oreacal and just what it's like, maybe also giving her some development with other characters (maybe Nico with them bonding on feeling out of place) and also some story with her family and how her life is.
・A collection of short stories which is basically just fluff because we don't get enough of that (Solangelo, Fierrochase, Percabeth, etc.)
・ Another short story (I'm sorry I warned you) with Annabeth right after the war, about her being mad at Luke, upset about his death, still caring about him and her getting a visit from Hermes, maybe expecting sympathy but just getting blamed for his death, also maybe a flashback of Luke asking her to leave in a nightmare.
・A book just with everyone's reaction to Jason death because I hate myself, not just in the moment but like a few weeks after and what they did and stuff (Leo, Piper, Frank, Hazel, Percy, Annabeth, Reyna, Nico)
・A collection of short stories about minor characters (Kayla, Austin, Connor, Travis, Clarisse, Lavinia, and just like under appreciated characters)
・A book with Reyna and Thalia split pov about them being in the Hunt and maybe a mission and Reyna could find out more about Bianca stuff. They could also maybe secretly get together but keep it hidden to stay in the hunt (or they leave the hunt and join the Amazons with Hylla (Reyna's sister) and they kind of start to bond) Also Hazel could be brought up because she technically stole from them.
・A short story with Nico and Bianca's life in the 1930s/when they're in the Lotus Casino, how they felt, what their life was like, etc.
Obviously a bunch of these short stories would be in one book, comment your suggestions xx
UPDATE BECAUSE I COMPLETELY FORGOT
・a book on Alabaster, his time at camp, maybe him meeting Nico in the time between pjo and hoo cuz that would be cool, what he does after Son of Magic, interactions (maybe relationship...?) with Ethan. Also just like a whole three book series about him and he could be in that cross over book (second idea), maybe as a villain or someone who helps Percy when he wants to overrule the gods
・A book on Ethan, just what his life's been like, maybe something like the diary of Luke Castellen
・this one would probably be part of another book/story/series but Grover going sort of insane, maybe possessed by Gaia (because let's be honest the fight was a bit anticlimactic, hoo is probably still my favorite series but that ending was kinda meh after all the build up, I think something that would have made it more dramatic would have been Percy not letting everyone else take control (his fatal flaw is personal loyalty) then when Leo dies (which was his plan anyways) he blames himself for it because he thought if he'd listened and stayed aside he would have lived anyways that was off topic) because he doesn't like how nature's getting ruined and it's a 1v1 fight with him and Percy and he would try to talk him out of it because he doesn't want to fight his best friend but ya know he's been possessed and can't tell it's his best friend so Percy ends up surrendering (maybe dying but that seems like a bad story choice because he's the main character and that would be a bad choice logically because you would have to bring him back (if they were to do that then it could be like the Orpheus and Eurydice story except Annabeth has to do a bunch of tasks for Hades and Nico's begging him to make it easy for her and her pride makes her think she can save them all (Luke, Jason Bianca, Ethan, Selina, Beckendorf etc.) and ends up saving none of them the Nico and Hazel have to bargain with Persephone and Hades to let Percy come back) which then after Grover gets released but it's before Percy comes back so he has to live with that guilt but at the same time he still hates humans for destroying nature and (this is a bit out there hold on) he becomes the I guess new Pan and is protecting nature. (This would also probably be a part of the second idea (again) but before Percy wants to overthrow Zeus so that he has the power of a God on his hands)

Why are we acting like Rick’s writing hasn’t been criticized for so long before? Like. BOO was considered a war crime or st and I’m quite sure the inconsistence is chronic at this point. TSATS isn’t special.

No Longer You from Epic The Musical is Jason Grace's song
*Burning Maze SPOILERS ahead*
Like it's so him meeting the oracle Herophile in the burning maze and him realising he's going to die.
"I see a song of past romance" (Piper and Jason's past relationship)
"I see the sacrifice of man" (Jason sacrifices his life to save Piper and the others)
"And a brother's final stand" (Jason Thalias' and Apollos' brother taking his final stand against Caligula)
"I see you on the brink of death" (Him after being pierced through his chest speaking his last words to Apollo)
"I see you draw your final breath" (Him dying)
"I see a man who gets to make it home alive" (LEO MAKING IT BACK TO CAMP ALIVE AFTER DYING)
"But it's no longer you" (Jason could have survied but Leo taking the physicans cure and coming back to life forces the prophecy of 7s line "to storm or fire the world must fall" to pass on to Jason because if the prophecy is to come true one of them has to die PERMANENTLY and so while it was at one point Jason surviving and going home now it's Leo)
Bonus:
"This can't be
We've suffered and sailed through the toughest of hells
Now you tell us our effort's for nothing?"
(Odysseus' response is SO Jason talking about his journey on the argo and how he fought all those months just to die now)

Wanna see me over analyze the Portal musical?
Tumblr media
So this scene comes up in “Why Can’t Subjects Learn to Test” at the verse “You know this place is dangerous and it will kill you dead” in which The Corrupted Cores do the “see no evil, hear no evil and say no evil” motions. Which is kinda random on surface level but all of these either relate to how they got put into Cores or them as characters.
For Space Core it’s pretty straight forward. He can’t say anything other then random or vaguely related space babble. BUT the thing is- in Act 2, back when they were scientists, Space actually tried to tell Rick what he was getting into but Rick kept interuppting him thinking he was gonna talk to him about space. He couldn’t say anything as he watched his coworker walk to his death.
For Fact it’s hear no evil, again pretty straight forward. He doesn’t listen to anybody when they say that his facts are wrong, he’s a stuck up smartass and gets annoyed at best or straight up mad at worst when somebody criticizes him. But in terms of his demise, he didn’t listen to when Cave was literally looking for deadly experiments to put Rick into and was more focused on the fact that they’ll be getting to do science he actually wanted to do. (He expressed previously that “This wasn’t the type of science he thought he would be getting into when applying to Aperture” when talking about the moonrocks) He didn’t listen.
And before you insinuate that Fact wanted Rick dead, which is what I assumed on my first watch, I think it’s worth noting that you don’t continue to hang out with the guy you would prefer to be dead for literal millennia, plus Geekenders said that they were a sorta found family saying that “Rick and Fact adopted Space” during the reunion back in 2021. (Which raises a LOT of questions but anyways-).
Then there’s Rick with see no evil, this is the most confusing out of the three since he seems to be the most aware. He can talk coherently, aware of his surroundings, better with social cues (albeit when he doesn’t want to ignore them) and just overall the most intact after being shoved into a computer. But I think where it is is that he’s blinded by his own ego. He sees himself as this fearless guy when in actuality he’s pretty much a coward. He wussed out when talking to Caroline by the end of their conversation, throwing Space under the bus when Wheatley threatened him and runs away from danger on multiple occasions.
In terms of his demise, he didn’t see Cave walk into the room when he was talking about Caroline and didn’t know what science he was walking into. He was also blinded by his annoyance at Space who tried to warn him.
So the verse “you know this place is dangerous and it will kill you dead” THEY ARE LITERALLY FORESHADOWING ON HOW THEY DIED AND JUST- this musical has me in a death grip and no-one cares about this damn show but so help me god I will over analyze every single thing about it

Okay, I gotta get this off my chest: Just because Rick Riordan, unlike JK Rowling, has taken responsibility for the problematic elements of Percy Jackson does not erase all of the problems within those books. It does not erase the stereotypes of Piper's character, or the weird rep of ADHD, or the "going schizophrenic" descriptions of the Greek and Roman gods. They are still there.
"But no one's saying they aren't!" No, but y'all are acting like it. I'm sorry, but the whole "read Percy Jackson, not Harry Potter" just...doesn't work for me. Because it's not just people saying "support Riordan and not Rowling": it's people acting like Percy Jackson is this perfectly written and flawlessly inclusive simply because Rick Riordan is a really cool guy (and he is, he DOES deserve the support!).
But it isn't. It's...I'm sorry...not better written than Harry Potter on a bare technical level (I'm rereading two books in the series right now too). And Riordan being an actually decent and cool guy who really did TRY (unlike Rowling, who seemed to try and give up once it actually became hard) does not erase the issues in Percy Jackson.
They're still there, they're still gonna be there when kids read them and think it's how ADHD works (like I did). Just like how Cho Chang had child-me thinking that writing "almond shaped eyes" was how to write Chinese characters (I recently learned it is not).
And this is why I'm so freaking hyped for the show. Because I feel it's gonna improve on so much. It'll give our guy Rick the chance to actually make a change, to improve on his own world and own characters. To give awesome representation to neurodivergent kids and kids of colour, which is what he clearly always wanted.
But Percy Jackson is not Harry Potter's perfect counterpart. It just isn't.
Should you buy new PJ books instead of HP? Yes! I'm buying a ton of out-of-print editions of HP from second hand local bookstores and genuinely- it's WAY better than in store shopping just in general!
Percy Jackson has a great story, a great world, a great concept. It's one of the reasons I'm writing stories the way I am today! But it is still quite flawed and those flaws are not going to just vanish because Riordan is cool and Rowling is not.
And a disclaimer: I am a hypocrite and even I've thought this way about certain things. And I'll DEFINITELY be making a post on the best thing to move onto from Harry Potter if you feel you have to (spoiler alert: It's Discworld. Trust me on this.)
