one time Percy walked in on a seriously sleep-deprived Leo spewing motor oil and Tabasco sauce all over the engine room because he "wanted to see why Festus liked the stuff so much" and (being the genius we all know he is) decided to chug a bottle of it.

long story short, Leo ended up confined to his cabin for a ten-hour nap by a deeply concerned Jason Grace and a deeply annoyed Piper McLean, and Percy had to go apologise to Annabeth for how horrifying he must have been as a middle schooler (she laughed for a solid ten minutes)

People keep taking the 'debt you owe for existing' line out of context to say Poseidon doesn't care about Percy. As if it wasn't Poseidon repeating Zeus's words and Poseidon who told Percy he didn't want him to have to get those silly letters, and Poseidon who talked Zeus down to 3 letters, and Poseidon who threatened to destroy Percy's school if it wasn't up to snuff.

my sister and i just yapped for almost three hours and we were just talking about how genuinely weird people in fandom are surrounding characters who have explicit mental illness. like they can never ever be normal. there are characters who are romanticised and glamourised for their mental illness (eren. wanda. joker. kaneki. nico. almost any danganronpa/ddlc character). characters who are consistently ridiculed for their mental illness either because it simply isn’t getting taken seriously (reiner) or because no one takes the character seriously (armin). and there are the characters that get blatantly outright DESPISED for it (basil, harry potter, korra, gale, also eren etc etc). like yes im seeing a correlation but its still so astounding how selective people are about where they draw the line with mental illness and what traits they can accept.
