Amended my recipie for pear crumble for yous home cooking (mostly mine let's be real)
You'll need
Pears 600g (peeled, cored, and roughly chopped)
honey 2 tbsp
Apple cider. Approx 1/2 pint
Butter 1/2 tbsp
For the topping
Caster sugar 50g
Flour 215g
Butter 100g (small diced at room temp)
Ground cinnamon 1/2 tsp
Qdd pears to pan with enough cider to cover the pears 3/4, alongside butter and honey
Add lid and simmer until the pears are cooked. Set aside off the heat.
Using holey spoon to drain liquid add to tin. Use whatever tin you want, I used a bread tin because its what I got. If your receptacle is too big build a wall out of tine foil.
In a big bowl rub the butter and flour together until it resembles bread crumbs. This is the most time consuming part, you can watch telly and do it in advance. It will be okay out of the fridge an hour or so, and in the fridge will last several weeks (just bring back to room temp and give a quick re rub before cooking). If you have a stand mixer with a beater attachment, go to town my friends.
Stir through sugar and cinnamon
Cover top of pears with crumble. Enough so you can no longer see any pears. More if you fancy, dealers choice.
Bake at 180 for 35 mins or until golden brown
Served with custard or ice cream is best
To reheat 180 for 10 mins
I have a custard recipie if you want, hit me up. Requires electric whisk or insane forearm strength
If you have crumble mix left over, use on the next one, or squish up into dough and make cookies from it. 12 mins at 180 should do the trick

A friend gave me about 20 unripened pears from her yard and told me to put them in a paper bag to ripen. After a full week about 5 were perfectly ripe so I made a small pear crumble or crisp.
I left the skin on and cut the pears in thin slices. I sprinkled the pears with a touch of lemon juice. I added nothing else to the pears.
For the topping I pulled out my Smitten Kitchen cookbook and adjusted the topping that she has for an apple crumble. I mixed about 3 tbl of melted butter, a pinch of salt and cinnamon, 1/4 c brown sugar, 1/4 c flour and 1/4 c oats. I sprinkled the topping on the pears.
I baked at 400 for 20 minutes, then at 375 for another 7-8 minutes. It’s perfect.

Apple and Pear Crumble
a delicious crumble of apples and pears. A sweet dessert is created by baking the fruit with a buttery oat topping. Add vanilla ice cream on top.

Job perks! I got to pick so many cooking apples from the apple trees at the estate work on. The crab apples had a fungal infection but these ones are good to go!
