Remember that episode when Sealand posed as Canada, and got busted by England?
Tumblr media
So I drew that with Yukon and Sask, for no other reason than for laughs. No other context!
I also got inspired by a certain scene from Prisoner of Azkaban, too.

in true canadian fashion: sorry i'm late
although, in some ways, i'm actually early. You know what I realized doing this ambitious painting? this year is going to be the 15th anniversary of IAMP.
The call for auditions was uploaded September 22, 2009, and if I recall correctly my audition as artist and VA was accepted around October or November of that same year. I've grown a lot as an artist and as a person in that long time and for some weird reason I just can't let these guys go.
anyway, thanks for everyone who participated in the roulette, I know it doesn't seem like a big deal but I really struggle drawing all of these guys without losing steam. it really helped! especially since I don't do a lot of gouache work and I second guessed myself a lot. It warms my heart a little to see you guys engaged in this silly game.
what else is there to say. oh yeah, I put two types of maple leafs. the stereotypical sugar maple is in the upper right of course, but I also put a manitoba maple in the lower left because that's the kind of maple I'm most familar with where I'm from. it's long been my mission to bring the western rep in whatever I do, so it's kind of my love letter signature to my own constantly changing understanding of Who Am I and Where Am I From.
anyway. enjoy :) i enjoyed making it. thanks to ctcsherry for creating these guys

The Fandom ask: DIIMRE XD
Oh boy XD This is about the RP campaign I DM.
The first character I first fell in love with: Hmmmm. Two characters: Monmon because they're a homebrew race with a custom warlock pack and I LOVED coming up with all that. And Sialuk because 1) big buff lady and 2) helped my crystallize out a bunch of world building stuff. NPC wise: Geranne
The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: can I have two again? Gat because I expected him to be much more of a murder hobo but he's really coming out of his shell! I wanted to say Ranee as the second but I've loved them from the beginning, hmm. NPC: Masha Yelena
The character everyone else loves that I don’t: PC: I love all of my poor plot-stricken creatures! NPC: genuinely the whole group tends to like the same characters
The character I love that everyone else hates: PC: I hope no one actively hates the other characters... in character, maybe? NPC: The harbourmaster and Rubia.
The character I used to love but don’t any longer: any NPC with an elaborate accent.
The character I would totally smooch: Sialuk or Yukon ❤
The character I’d want to be like: ...Sialuk Or Yukon. Listen, they're capable and dependable.
The character I’d slap: Gat. Though I might be too afraid to actually do it.
A pairing that I love: Sialuk/Ranee
A pairing that I despise: Any hypothetical pairing with MonMon. That's an asexual plant baby.

SOW LARD, EAT CLIPS
A recounting of the solar eclipse, prefacing some of the images/videos I will eventually post.
I was not in the path of totality, but the experience was nonetheless very interesting. I had arrived at a local park at around 2:20 PM. The sky was quite dense with clouds, albeit in some specific areas more than others. Likewise, the sun was nowhere to be seen, although a phone app had allowed me to locate it through the haze.
I had a preceding interest in observing animal behavior during this event. As such, I paid attention to the sounds of birds, which are often very distinguishable even if you do not know the exact species that a given one originates from. I noticed a few sounds I rarely ever hear, suggesting the presence of some bird species that were not ordinarily present in this location. One could then infer that there must have been some migratory behavior that caused them to move here. This was also somewhat apparent upon looking to the skies and seeing birds headed in whatever direction.
Skip forward to around 3:10-15 PM. The clouds were evidently clearing up, albeit to my dismay. I knew that there would be a very small chance that the clouds would not block the eclipse in whatever location I was in. In other words, whether or not you chose to go to any place along the path of totality was a gamble. The chances were made even more slim by the natural increase in traffic to these places.
Since I was observing a 99.8% partial eclipse, the sun looked like an orange, crescent-shaped sliver in the sky. I must also stress the part regarding the 99.8%, as it is akin to having that chance of winning something, yet still losing to the 0.2%. Nonetheless, the peak of the eclipse presented some interesting behavior. I noticed that seagulls began making lots of noise. Moreover, I never recalled there being seagulls there in the first place.
In spite of it being partial, however, the sky did turn dark (a change synonymous with the aforementioned seagull noise). Surprisingly, I did not hear any crickets chirping, despite being in a place with lots of open grass.
So, I did not get to see totality. Bummer! But the pictures that my mom got on her camera (which had a solar filter attached) were very interesting. I'll post those as soon as I get them on my own PC.
I have read that the next TOTAL solar eclipse in Canada will be in 2044, although they will be in Alberta, British Columbia, the Northwest Territories, Nunavut, Saskatchewan and Yukon, according to this source. Apart from that, I rate my first eclipse experience a.... seven out of ten!
As a final note, this will probably be my last self-imposed reflection (I have yet to do writing initiative #7, but I do not see any reason for doing it at this point). It feels fitting to end off where all of my projects began; the solar eclipse. Indeed, in the same way that memory loops back upon itself, these reflections are also looping back upon themselves...

Dakota and Keris have begun to put together a plan to track down answers surrounding a certain children’s hospital from the latter’s past, and that means reuniting with an ally from their past adventure with a sentient storybook! Jubilee Yukon, the gambler and apparently dead man walking, is not a hard man to find. Seems the only real challenge will be getting his answer to their question- Wanna Go Raid A Hospital?

Seeing your most recent ask... Was IAMP/PC Yukon named for Klondike Kate?
yes and no - i suggested her name only partially after Kathleen Rockwell but mostly after Kate Carmack, who was a Tagish First Nations woman and part of the party who originally discovered gold in the Klondike.
