Lauren insulted NWT’s Cabbage roll recipe, and well, it was the final straw for her!
TBH, I just wanted to draw NWT, in the 1950s, losing her shit on a human neighbour. Girly’s on a roll!
All while Sask (who dropped by to give her something back that he borrowed earlier in the week, had the honour to have front row seats to this, lol!) WAS trying hard not to full on cackle. (He loses that battle, and now his sides hurt.)
*His only regret was not dragging Alberta along to witness this.

little culture shock things between provinces hahahahaha
so drinking age differs between provinces, so its 18 in Alberta (and Manitoba and Quebec) while generally 19 everywhere else -- although alcohol servers can legally be 18 even in a place with a drinking age of 19. This means that people will often hop the border to a province with a lower drinking age (and you'll see Americans occasionally take advantage of it since their legal drinking age is 21)
The requirement of having two pieces of ID (one government, one with either a signature or photo) in BC struck me the other day - I don't personally drink, but if I wanted to I might have to have my passport on me since technically all my student IDs are expired, even though they do have photos. Health cards in Alberta kind of suck, you might recall, and have neither a photo nor a signature.
And one more thing- I don't think they have canonical ages, but I always thought it would be funny if Bert and Sask both kept getting IDs issued that claimed them to be 18 (you know, just so I can make jokes about Sask having to come over to Bert's house to drink). I don't think they're actually 18, just that there is always some mishap about whoever is responsible for printing and renewing IDs for guys who claim to be over a century old (which means they have to keep making fake IDs -- insert some elaborate joke about them showing up in the States and then getting refused service because Canadian IDs look "made up" there anyway)

So, to finally post something for Indigenous history month, I made a Cutesy comic with Nanook and Owen.
So the name that the province of Saskatchewan goes by, is a shortened and modernized version of the original word of the Saskatchewan River, Kisiskatchewanisipi, which is Cree for ‘Swift-flowing river’.
Which was what most people called the river.
It is unknown (at least to modern peoples) as to the reason why Government did this when the District was formed in 1882.
****
Unfortunately not much is known for the origins of the names of the Provinces, and Territories. Some have more info than others.

Alrighty then @madam-of-lithuania I told myself I’ll give it a go after work , and I did it.
Couldn’t find Cymbeline in the list, So I chose the closest name I could find.
I chose December because it was the most neutral route. Chose the time capsule title because opening your Grandma’s recipe books always feels like you’re opening a time capsule!
(A holiday movie where Kokum’s cooking saves the day? Sign me up! lol)
Lmao, I had to play it because the description options are hilarious
@madam-of-lithuania tagging to see your CanLiet version >:D

Did you know that Alberta and Saskatchewan were once originally going to be one province named Buffalo?
for the purposes of this ask we are ignoring that Buffalo has become a bit of a buzzword for right wing western separatist parties :T; I wouldn't say it was "originally" going to be a combined province, it was just an idea that the wealthy and powerful ranchers across the southern districts really liked because it would help fuel their dream of turning the entire thing into grazing land for cattle.
Maddy did originally live in the district of Assiniboia and was sort of added to Alberta at the last minute, which is why she wasn't paying any attention to the battle to become capital of Alberta at all. Nowadays, the city of Lloydminster is the "closest" to Saskatchewan by virtue of literally being the only city in the country to span two provinces. There is a mural there to celebrate the 2005 centennial of the two provinces called Buffalo Twins.
We may not live together (as central Canada was too afraid of our potential combined awesomeness... surely) but our neighbour to the east is always borrowing our stuff anyways. Like our tendency towards austerity cuts, or Edmonton's entire lacrosse team >:'T tsk!

Everyone’s talking about US politics right now but if you’re in one of three Canadian provinces, it’s an election year for you too and you can do something to stave off the violence going on in the US for a little while. Under no circumstances, vote for anyone associated with Poilievre.
If you're in British Columbia: vote NDP (do not vote BC United)
If you're in New Brunswick: vote liberal (do not vote PC)
If you're in Saskatchewan: vote NDP (do not vote Saskatchewan)
If you are in any province or territory: register to vote now, before you forget whether it is an 'election year' or not. With the CAQ and Ontario PCs in power plus Alberta doing fuck all, the federal government absolutely will move in the same direction as the US. Many provinces have already started fucking over healthcare and LGBTQ+ (trans especially) rights. Please protect everyone's rights and please help save our failing healthcare.
(Non-Canadians, please do reblog. This will absolutely get lost otherwise)

Manitoba election results are fucking nuts to look at btw. NDP most left leaning party and they won with 33 seats but the most right leaning party, PCs, got 23 seats and the centre party, Liberals, got 1 (one). the centre party is Canada's current government and like,
i figured the high amount of PC, Manitoba is a prairie province with Saskatchewan and Alberta, those guys tend to love the PCs, but like ???
NDP sweep??? NDP leader in Manitoba is first nations???????

Did another drawing, but Bertie is not afraid to pull the trigger, but he wants answers more.
This was mainly for practice with poses and hats.
Same thing as the previous pic, it’s an AU where Alberta and Sask swap places.

A Complete Guide on How to Take an Appointment Online in Saskatchewan
If you are feeling unwell and suspect a problem that might need medical attention, you should probably seek professional help. But it’s difficult to get out of your bed, dress up and see your nearest healthcare provider… right? Well, this is where virtual clinics in Saskatchewan come plug in all the convenience and comfort you need to resolve your problems. With online healthcare support, you can access best healthcare professionals from across the globe with just a touch on touch on your screen. Curious? Here’s a beginner’s guide on how to access online doctors form the comfort of your couch.
Step 1: Turn on Your Screen of Course!!
It is pretty understandable that you will need some device be it a smartphone, tablet, laptop or a PC to access various channels and portals providing online health services. You’ll also need an internet connection to book your appointment online (pretty obvious).
Step 2: Look for a Suitable Virtual Clinic.
The next step in line is to find a suitable virtual healthcare provider. Now, there are a lot of service providers on the internet but you will need to look for a suitable virtual service with a broad spectrum addressing maximum problems in its coverage program. Here are a few that can considered for such purpose:
Tia Health:
Tia Health is an excellent option if you are looking to hire an online doctor for your medical concerns. This specific platform provides options of virtual consultations through phone calls, private messages and online chats. You can discuss your condition, receive opinions and prescriptions (yes, you heard kt right) and even get a referral if necessary. (1)
GOeVisit:
It’s another platform with impressive prospects in the medical field. GOeVisit is an app that allows people to have clinical interviews with Canadian practitioners. The app is easy to download and has simple steps to follow. You are asked to describe your symptoms in a SmartExam clinical interview. After reviewing the symptoms, a licensed physician comes up with a diagnosis and a complete treatment plan. The patient is also provided detailed summary of the meeting, prescription (if any) and referral letters if required. (1)
Maven:
It provides online health services that can be accessed via both browser and smartphone app, 24/7. It specifically directs telehealth services towards women and their families including services such as fertility counseling, prenatal and postnatal care, mental health counseling and primary pediatric care. The upfront pricing for these virtual visits starts from as low as $20 but various memberships are available with additional incentives. This service not only incorporates licensed physicians but also allows its audience to interact with nutritionists and holistic medicine experts. Another interesting feature of the app is its peer community where different patients can interact with each other too. However, this feature is only available for permanent members of the platform. (1)
Health Tap:
Next in line is Health Tap, an online healthcare service that covers primary care, pediatric counselling, maternal health services etc. The distinctive feature of this particular platform is provision of mental health support and psychiatric counselling. With a membership fee of only $15 per month, it is highly cost-effective. Licensed practitioners can be accessed through this platform and expert opinions can be received. The healthcare providers can also transmit your prescriptions to a pharmacy of your liking. Unfortunately, people with free accounts can only get their hands on limited AI based health support. (1)
Step 3: Confirm an Appointment
Booking your slot through Sign-in Accounts
Most virtual clinics demand creating an account for accessing healthcare services. Creating an account is not much of a puzzle. Using simple steps and putting in the required credentials, people can easily create their account and look for physicians of their liking from amongst a list of physicians with different experiences and degrees (displayed in their portfolio). (2)
Can I use Toll Free Numbers to Confirm my Appointment?
Yes. Most online portals provide the facility of contacting them through tool free numbers that can be used to confirm an online visit. Apart from booking an appointment, customer support also addresses all your concerns and provides adequate suggestions to improve the overall experience.
Step 4: Receive Expert Opinion on The Go.
Once you have confirmed your appointment, you are good to go.

Don’t take this too seriously, this was made just to poke fun at the Sustainable Sask Ad/s.
If you’d seen the sustainable Saskatchewan ads, it feels like Saskatchewan is doing a very great job, Right? Well, it’s just Moe trying so hard to brag about how we are a strong, and successful Province, all while not really acknowledging how underfunded our Education, and Healthcare systems are, among other problems...
Yeah, Despite the claim of the ads, we’re still a dumpster fire, lol.

SOW LARD, EAT CLIPS
A recounting of the solar eclipse, prefacing some of the images/videos I will eventually post.
I was not in the path of totality, but the experience was nonetheless very interesting. I had arrived at a local park at around 2:20 PM. The sky was quite dense with clouds, albeit in some specific areas more than others. Likewise, the sun was nowhere to be seen, although a phone app had allowed me to locate it through the haze.
I had a preceding interest in observing animal behavior during this event. As such, I paid attention to the sounds of birds, which are often very distinguishable even if you do not know the exact species that a given one originates from. I noticed a few sounds I rarely ever hear, suggesting the presence of some bird species that were not ordinarily present in this location. One could then infer that there must have been some migratory behavior that caused them to move here. This was also somewhat apparent upon looking to the skies and seeing birds headed in whatever direction.
Skip forward to around 3:10-15 PM. The clouds were evidently clearing up, albeit to my dismay. I knew that there would be a very small chance that the clouds would not block the eclipse in whatever location I was in. In other words, whether or not you chose to go to any place along the path of totality was a gamble. The chances were made even more slim by the natural increase in traffic to these places.
Since I was observing a 99.8% partial eclipse, the sun looked like an orange, crescent-shaped sliver in the sky. I must also stress the part regarding the 99.8%, as it is akin to having that chance of winning something, yet still losing to the 0.2%. Nonetheless, the peak of the eclipse presented some interesting behavior. I noticed that seagulls began making lots of noise. Moreover, I never recalled there being seagulls there in the first place.
In spite of it being partial, however, the sky did turn dark (a change synonymous with the aforementioned seagull noise). Surprisingly, I did not hear any crickets chirping, despite being in a place with lots of open grass.
So, I did not get to see totality. Bummer! But the pictures that my mom got on her camera (which had a solar filter attached) were very interesting. I'll post those as soon as I get them on my own PC.
I have read that the next TOTAL solar eclipse in Canada will be in 2044, although they will be in Alberta, British Columbia, the Northwest Territories, Nunavut, Saskatchewan and Yukon, according to this source. Apart from that, I rate my first eclipse experience a.... seven out of ten!
As a final note, this will probably be my last self-imposed reflection (I have yet to do writing initiative #7, but I do not see any reason for doing it at this point). It feels fitting to end off where all of my projects began; the solar eclipse. Indeed, in the same way that memory loops back upon itself, these reflections are also looping back upon themselves...
