Anyways I fucking love that this game is canon to Professor Layton but not Ace Attorney. Phoenix Wright is a plot important character in the Professor Layton series but not the other way around. There's a timeline where Phoenix doesn't get disbarred but the trade off is he has to spend a few months in a random town in England defending in literal witch trials with Hershel FUCKING Layton.

crying over the idea of draco and luna being regulus' godchildren. just. imagine narcissa was already expecting and he was so excited about being godfather. talking about teaching him quidditch and how to be the best seeker and being so devastated when he realised he wouldn't live to see draco's birth. and pandora refusing to pick someone else, because who else would love her baby and understand her, more than pandora's best friend? more than pandora's brother?

narcissa and pandora both telling stories, of how much their uncle would love and adore them. pandora lighting a candle every evening, telling luna its so her uncle reg will always know the way home. draco having a lion plush exclusively for him, the leo constellation shining over its heart.

bonding over this as adults, becoming friends over shared stories of their godfather - this elusive figure that they never met but can't help loving, can't help knowing. crying together in relief when it was made public that he didn't die for the wrong thing, he didn't die a madman. crying because there was always the awful doubt that their mothers might've been lying about him and they weren't. they can be proud, now. they can shout it from the rooftops and light a candle every night and make space for an old toy in plain view.

regulus black's memory never fades - it's passed down. he is loved, even in death, with a strength that would make him weep.

I was loitering on redshit today and saw this sort of argument about the "Church BaD because Rhea said Crests come from the Goddess so she gives a divine right to rule to crested people" and...

It's, as you say relatively meaningless in the greater "inequality" scope of things, because, hey.

Kevin Blaiddyd can lift an ox with his pinky. Bob the mailman cannot. Even if Rhea never wrote a thing about the source of Crests... Kevin and Bob wouldn't have been treated the same way : in a world rife with giant monsters and bandits, Kevin's super strength will always be valued over Bob, who doesn't have this super strength, when it comes to protect/defend his people/family.

In a way, writing the Crests come from the Goddess has two results : 1/humans won't try to get their hands on one since, uh, if the goddess gives them, it's as random as it can so, maybe, if you find a person with pointy ears who has a crest, you won't be tempted to, idk, kill it and eat its liver to get a crest

The beings who were originally granted crests, aka Nabateans, were created with this power because the Goddess created them as such - "it comes from the goddess" is not technically a lie, Crests come from her blood and were only originally gifted to her children... Humans just happened to get this power by "stealing" it (at least if we're talking about the Elites and their lines!)

The Book of Seiros lit says the Goddess is disheartened to see how the power of crests is misused by humans and says Nemesis fell to corruption, basically spelling out how people who have crests... shouldn't abuse it.

Imo, it's not the "divine endorsement" to rule here, but it's much closer to the mandate of heaven doctrine : if you do not rule wisely, the gods will abandon you - the first crested humans did so much shit that Sothis wept and left Fodlan (according to the Book of Seiros!).

As for crest inequality...

Yes, some people are born with super powers, and others aren't. Just like your usual run of the mill genetics that are still used, irl, to discriminate or at least make differences between two people.

"get rid of the system where super powers are valued" is just a nebulous nonsensical leitmotiv that... is completely empty, if you look closer at it.

AG!Sylvain wants to get rid of situation where you will have to use those super powers, okay, why not? But if a Giant Wolf charges at a toddler, and Sylvain with his relic can stop him, but Miklan without said relic cannot - who should be called upon to protect the toddler, or to get rid of the Giant Wolf? Sylvain or Miklan?

Ditto with healing : if Flayn can her special Nabatean Magic to make an AOE area to heal 100 people at once to full HP, when humans require at least 10 healers to cover the same area to heal those 100 people to full HP, who is going to be called to help when available? Flayn, or 10 healers?

Unless you get rid of everyone who has a super power - you can't value something that doesn't exist lol - "creating a world where crests aren't valued" is just, impossible.

It’s so genuinely upsetting to me that half this shit is barely even documented. Beginning to realize how privileged I was with how well preserved all of the Psychonauts content is. Death Jr had a website (changed to promote the original and the sequel)! Www.Deathjr.com — It had bios for the characters and everything! Unfortunately it’s so poorly preserved on the Wayback Machine that most of the bios, images, and links are broken. They had phone wallpapers!!!

Not only that, but there’s just hardly any information at all on these games! The wikis are laughably small. Which is so sad because I genuinely think there’s some neat things to Death Jr as a franchise.

I LOVE THIS SHITTY DS GAME SO MUCH! It genuinely to me feels like at least someone on the team cared a lot about these characters (maybe not Stigmartha </3). It’s a return to the original art style (kinda) after the grungier second game and I do really prefer it. I think it fits much nicer with the humor and overall tones of the games (although I can admit the second game has a slightly different, edgier tone to match its new look, I feel like the more cartoonish (not to say the second game isn’t still very obviously cartoonish) style just fits the characters better).

Obviously there’s a drop in graphics from the Wii to the DS, but because of how stylized the characters are in this game I can genuinely say I think it look better than the ‘more advanced’ graphics of the Wii.

Arguably my same opinion with Psychonauts although the second game is still heavily stylized I don’t think it has the charm of the firsts baked on shaders and whimsical nature (cough cough smiling sun, screaming clouds, four fingered freaks, more outlandish characters and designs)

I’m rambling obviously, and blinding myself with rose tinted glasses, but I just love these games and I’m the only one talking about them so I’ve gotta do trippletime to make up for it <3

top 5 WORST marauders era ships

oh bab! you've got a mind for violence! i love it!

(a foreword: in my heart, i am a hater. as such, i'm going to be a little strict about this, possibly digging myself a larger hole in the process, but--since technically you could come up with hundreds of nonsensical marauders-era pairings, i'm going to limit this to the more established pairings only (which is why pairings that i personally consider too ridiculous for consideration, such as anything involving snape, would be a waste of a slot)).

5. remus / regulus--not necessarily opposed to it in all forms. but also i am sort of bored sorry. sort of interesting maybe in the context of r/s. i don't hate it but it's here to make up numbers. these things happen.

4. james / sirius--i don't actually have a rational problem with this one. if anything, it makes tremendous sense. it is not a bad pairing. but it makes the cut because i am frankly only interested in a sirius that is in love with remus, and therefore i would, personally, rather die than consider it.

3. james / regulus--i was assassinated before i could provide a justification for this one sorry. shouldn't have answered this ask in the back of that open-top car during that motorcade through dallas probably. 2. sirius / marlene (or mary)--boo! rubbish! completely uninspired!

1. remus / tonks--i argue that this one counts as a marauders-era pairing owing to the inclusion of minimum one marauders-era character. i take issue with it on the grounds that they are both gay and i don't care about their child. it takes top spot by virtue of being the only canon pairing on the list.
