One thing I found interesting about Sofia's conversation with Sal is how she frames Oz telling her father about Sofia meeting with a reporter. It doesn't justify Oz's later actions, nor does it negate Sofia's grievances and anger, but it does interest me that for all her talk of helping the underclass of the Falcone Family she doesn't seem capable of processing the danger she put Oz in by having him take her to that meeting. Or, perhaps more accurately, she doesn't seem capable of processing that a driver would consider his life as valuable.
Even if she is partially manipulating Sal there, yeah. As I said in my Episode4 breakdown, even if it's not as prominent in the writer breakdowns of that moment, Oz was right to be scared shitless of what would have happened to him if Sofia kept digging around, or if anyone told Carmine that he was the one who drove her there to meet the reporter, even just Carmine finding out Sofia did something to displease him could have been enough to get Oz killed as punishment. If Carmine was willing to do what he did to his daughter, the future of the family, there was zero chance Oz wouldn't have been on the chopping block if literally anyone but Oz brought this to his attention. It's not like he didn't try to reach out to Sofia first and tell her how dangerous this was, and look at how that turned out for him.
Sofia even brings up on Episode 01 at their lunch, "If you hadn't gone to my father - He left you no choice". Now, obviously she does actually resent Oz for it, as she should, but she nominally does understand that Oz didn't do it solely because he wanted to rise up the ranks (even if that was undeniably part of it) and that there was self-preservation involved. But it doesn't matter that Oz wanted to save or improve his life, because Oz's life doesn't matter, certainly not to the extent that Sofia's reliance on him mattered.
Oz and Sofia care about the underprivileged and the downtrodden, and they genuinely care about those whose circumstances they share, but only so far, and mostly in service to their operations and to their self-mythologizing fueling them in their journeys, and the show never loses track of the ways Sofia's privilege affect her thinking - note that Sofia, for all that she talks about victims being neglected and forgotten, and for all that she does mean it, does not seem to extend that compassion to the Arkham patients - they were "monsters" she had to fight to get out of the dungeon her father put her in (Magpie simply being Arkham Oz, the annoying fake friend conspiring against her to the big bad in charge - if I had a nickel everytime a bird-themed Batman villain sold me out and so on).
I can't think of a Batman thing that is so thoroughly committed to class dynamics on a foundational level as this (and the movie also), and really any Penguin show would feel incomplete without it. And honestly, the end of Episode 3 even shows that, for all the awful things Sofia endured because Oz tattled on her, for all the resentment she holds towards him, for how much her body screams at her not to trust him, she was still sincerely willing to hear out his excuses and bury the hatchet and give him another chance - and of course it turns out that he actually did something infinitely worse and had been lying to her about it the entire time, which is par for the course with Oz. Every time he slips away from an impossible jam, he lands face first into another one.

I'm super excited to see more about Shanks in your gem au and if you decide to make him a human or a gem!
Hmmm I see where you’re coming from with that “human or gem” bit. Cuz like,,, the guy has to lose his arm, thats his whole thing.
I think that he’s gonna be my first human-gem hybrid. I’ll say he has a red diamond gem, but im not sure so dont hold me to that.
I was gonna just make him human, but the guy has to live through several hundreds of years, so i like the hybrid idea better.
In my eyes, a hybrid is only as old as they feel, and cant really die from old age complications unless they feel that old. So even though shanks here is probably like over a thousand years old, he’s still alive and kickin’.
Thanks for the ask!

Using Lorenzo and Charles' interviews as reference, I'd love to see any assumptions of what Kaiser and Ness would answer here
#i'm 100% sure they'll get character profiles at some point#maybe more in depth ones like the ones in the egoist bible#since these are meant to be read as interviews to the characters I wouldn't put it past Kaiser to exaggerate or lie in his#like using his answers for those questions (the morning routine/luck rituals/etc)#as reference he totally makes himself sound more put together than he actually is#even if he still sounds kind of fucked up like where's his manager. Can he say that.#anyway#i have ten million guesses for ness' favorite movie.#i could see him liking matilda. & the first 5 hp movies. & narnia. fantasia even. the first fantastic beasts movie. the wizard of oz. etc#can you tell im procrastinating/too into this#ALSO#both lorenzo and sae add comments like#'doing bad things is not ok right?' and (on the topic of school subjects and getting bad grades)'don't be like me'#which i read as both using their ng11 status to give out advice & also as something they've come to think as they've grown#would love to see a kaiser comment in this same wavelength#anyway 2 feel free to rb or reply with thoughts....... i'm curious if anyone'll get them righr#right*

Omg.. I absolutely need to hear more about this wizard of Oz au if that’s alright?
lol sure? I don’t plan doing to much with it other than drawing it so here are some thoughts
-character roles are pretty straightforward with the only characters that are not completely figured out being Darnold, Forzen, and G-Man.
Dr. Coomer wants brains, he does that NPC to aware glitch thing and despite that hes already pretty smart, but is unaware of it.
Bubby wants a heart, and unlike the movie he was just built as a machine but he does have feelings for the group despite how he thinks.
Gordon wants courage as, next to being a dad, there’s the whole expectation of being “the king of the beasts” -and he does act brave and dare I say- courageous- at times.
And ofc Tommy just wants to go home and see his friends. (I’m unsure if he knows that the ppl he meets on his way are literally just his friends or if he’s oblivious- take it as you will)
-this is directly based from the 1939 wizard of oz- though any iteration of the story (minus the novel itself) could be done, even the muppet’s wizard of oz from 2005 with some tweaking, for the sake of more comedy
-Benrey’s role of the witch is pretty non-serious as he just wants a friend to play games with (andthe added bonus of the magic *ruby slippers filler* item) if anything the most actively evil he gets is when he kidnaps Tommy and has his skeletons take care of the rest of the group.
Do what you want with it- it’s not a super serious thing ^^

I've had vegans tell me before I cannot love my pets, love animals, help endangered animals, etc, if I eat meat, otherwise I'm a hypocrite. And as someone who is mentally ill and has black and white thinking, that fucks you up (adding to the vegan topic here!)
Sorry for the wait on a response.
Wanna know how I can tell they’re full of shit, Anon?
Because those are the kind of people who abuse and threaten the lives of their carnivoran pets by trying to force them to eat only plant matter, for one, and for two, they sure don’t seem to care about the 7.3 BILLION animals that die annually, in the US alone, NOT including insects, from the harvesting of plant crops.
But yeah, honestly I think the purpose of militant vegans saying cruel and nonsensical shit like that is specifically to get you fucked up about it, because they seem to believe that shame is the best way to gain someone’s compliance (ever notice how much they fat-shame, too? See PETA’s many ad campaigns explicitly equating naked women with pigs, whales, cows, etc).
Tearing up poison ivy does not mean you can’t love flowers.
#vegans are made of meat#replies to things#the poison ivy thing is an imperfect metaphor but i’m only 16 oz of coffee into the day#blog together queue alone

[Continuation of this]
There have been quite a few Halloween costume nominations this evening, and to Will's frustration, Cassandra's triumph, and Liam's indifference — not all of them were presented by Villiam the Vampire alone. Will fought tooth and nail for the very last nomination of the night to be hisss as he was scanning the crowd for a certain someone, hoping they won't leave or change their outfit until the big reveal.
The Ravenclaw prefect, dressed as a Cheshire Cat with an opposite of a permanent grin on his whiskered face, prepares the rosettes stating "Best Thematic Duo" while Villiam takes the centre-stage once again.
"Please, velcome ze last thematic couple of ze night! The award for the best thematic collaboration goes to—!" Will pauses on purpose and just so happens to spot the people he needs. The vampire gets his wand out and shots a charm which pops harmless soundless fireworks above @ask-andrew-montrose and @theodoradevlin's heads.
"Theodora Devlin as The Straw Man and Andrew Montrose as Dorothy Gale!" he finally announces. "The unofficial jury is unsure whether Montrose's recent cat transformation counts as part of the costume but we are happy to see that he kept the bow afterall!"
Villiam and the others start clapping loudly along with music as they wait for the winners to come up on the stage. The little snake wasn't sure if Andrew would try to escape, so attracting everyone's attention with a little charm earlier was a must in his eyes.
#Hogwarts Legacy RP#William#Andrew M#Theodora#Halloween#[we are aware that the Wonderful Wizard of Oz was published later and we don't care#The voting wasn't rigged in any way#just in case any of you had any doubts about William#I started a new thread on purpose in case Wren still wants to reply at some point#once again absolutely no pressure!#We know Wren and Imelda would enjoy the prize anyway 🤭]#liam#[i ended up putting my new ravenclaw in#ignore him really#for those who dont know#Cassandra is a Gryffindor Head Girl#she and will butt heads at who is better#and liam is a 6th year Ravenclaw who just wants to be left alone#becoming a prefect wasn't his choise#and now he has to deal with all this prefect stuff and do work while Cass and Will try to outshine each other]

Chapter 48: Isla Yura
previous chapters: The Sablier Arc Masterpost (35-42) || 43 || 44 || 45 || 46 || 47
read the manga: imgur || mangaread (ad warning)
Despite his blindness, Break lays Oz out before their sparring is interrupted by Gilbert, who was able to copy Duke Barma's schedule by peeking at Reim's notebook while he was distracted. After all, Barma originally hails from the same foreign country as Yura. And, as it turns out, he has a meeting scheduled with the cult leader in the next few days.
During some sword training, Break and Oz discuss the mysterious Isla Yura and the symbol that had shown up in Arthur Barma's notes on the Sealing Stones. Isla Yura is said to be the leader of a small religious cult. However, he's also the son of a very influential person in a neighboring country with tense relations to their own, making it hard for Pandora to investigate and search for the Stone.
And so, two days later, Oz and his friends prepare to infiltrate Duke Barma'a villa in Reveil. A plan complete with costumes and everything.
calm down there Gil lol
Break goes off on his own, and the other three hide in a side parlor to eavesdrop on Duke Barma and Isla Yura's conversation. Yura reveals that their home country is nervous about Pandora's ability to utilize Chains, and had appointed him to research the Abyss and find a way to remove the threat they pose. That their scholars had drawn a connection between the Tragedy of Sablier and an earthquake that had split their own country in half a hundred years ago.
Duke Barma tells him to give up, that their home country can't hope to posess the power of Abyss and should worry more about taking care of their own domestic issues first. Surprisingly, Yura agrees, though Barma doesn't seem impressed. Yura confesses that the orders simply gave him a convenient excuse to meet with the Duke.
Duke Barma asks if that's why Yura invited the Duchess Nightray to join his cult, and Oz can't just ignore that. He sends Gil off to look for Alice and keep her out of trouble while he stays to eavesdrop.
The Duke recognizes that, much like himself, Yura won't give up what he knows for free. And so, Barma offers to introduce him to Oz Vessalius, and points him toward the doors where the hero is hiding. While Yura confront ls Oz, Barma slips out of the parlor to find Break and Alice in his archives.
Alice tries to eat a live chicken while Break and Barma talk, and so the Duke suggests she return to Oz, saying he'll probably need her help soon. She races back to the parlor, suddenly worried about her manservant, but Barma reassures Break it's really not like Oz is in any danger.
Now that the game is up, everyone changes out of their costumes and meets properly in the parlor. As they talk, Yura stares intently at Oz with wonder in his eyes, making the young hero a little uncomfortable actually. Finally, Yura admits he has a question he'a been dying to ask him.
Is it really true that the hero Jack Vessalius dwells inside his soul? Or is that just a story that Oz made up for attention? He's of a skeptical nature, after all, and it's hard to believe such a wild claim without any evidence.
Of course, if it is true, then Isla Yura says he would be happy to invite him to his mansion in his home country. And that's exactly what Oz and Pandora are after, a chance to search those grounds for the next Sealing Stone.
But Jack hasn't shown himself or answered Oz's calls for him since their trip to Sablier. So how is he supposed to prove the existence of someone without his own body?
Oz has to think quick.
The proud Rufus Barma falls to his knees in reverence, and "Jack" comments how much the Duke reminds him of Arthur from one hundred years ago. Fanatically, Isla Yura asks the hero to recite the pledge passed down by the guardians of the Sealing Stones. And he does, though by the end, Jack seems to have spent all his energy and collapses.
But that's enough to win Yura over.
Gilbert takes the unconscious Oz into another room, granting the heroes a few moments to meet with Barma alone, giving them an opportunity to reveal their setup.
Barma asks if Oz has his next move planned, and of course he does. And so they return to meet with Yura again to set it into motion.
#ooc#this is a fun chapter#I love that there's absolutely no reason for Oz crossdressing except why not put that boy in a dress#I couldn't really fit it in but this is the chapter where Alice keeps pulling on Gil's coat#it's so cute you should read the full chapter just for that#as always I would absolutely love to discuss/answer any questions anyone might have so feel free to reply to this or send an ask#I'm also going to make a post about it but this is the last chapter summary that's going to like#play pretty much parallel between the manga and rp tl#after this uhhhhhhh#things are going to go considerably different so I'm going to do something a little different for Oz's ceremony arc

A penny for Gio's thoughts on The Wizard of Oz? I often feel like it gets often left out when it comes to fairytale discussions or fairytale crossovers like EAH or Descendents (Granted I don't think Disney ever did a Wizard of Oz movie and they've pretty much monopolized fairytale for better or worse... mostly worse.)
It's good to see it get recognition in Lies of P, though!! Eager to see what Round8 does with it!
i think Oz is!!! fun!!!!!!!!! and severely underused compared to, like. Pinocchio or Alice or the other "modern fairytales" when it comes to Big Budget Production, with the exception of like. Wicked ( that i still have to watch/listen to fndsmg musical fake fan right here ) or that one mid-to-okay Oz movie Disney made ages ago and nobody remembers nafdms granted my thoughts on it are a little... tainted? from the high school play I had to do - half of which was great bc my partner wrote it, half of which was Not bc if u guys want me to talk about how my teacher managed to make a bunch of 16 years olds do the cell block tango i'd LOVE to ramble about that play - but I think it's a fun little story with fun little characters
honestly. I'm very hyped for what LoPII and/or the DLC have in mind. i wanna see my little guy (the lion) so bad..............
#like ik theres return to oz but it feels more underground/cult classic stuff than BIG BUDGET MOVIE#and that one cartoon we dont talk about#gio replies

This is basically exactly what I did the moment I read Ace gets shattered in the gem AU.
I see i have gotten some
Backlash
I feel like this vid rn👇
I dont think I’ll be changing it tho, sorry 🫶
If it makes y’all feel any better, since gems dont age, at least they’ve interacted as ‘adults’.
If i could, i would change the position of ace’s gem, and i would also not have drawn sabo with the crack on his face in that previous post i made, since it wonks up the timeline a bit.
Thanks for the ask and comments lol
