Ripping up concrete sidewalks and parking lots and instead planting urban forests and using less cars can all help to decrease indoor and outdoor air temperature. In cities with an abundance of water, “soft cooling” techniques using fans and pools can also greatly reduce extreme temperatures.
Many architects today are also changing how they design buildings: only providing AC in specific rooms instead of through a central heating system. This way, people can choose to open or close their windows if they want, while reducing the energy needed to cool the hallways and lobby areas.
If you face photovoltaic panels westward, you can time the peak electricity production from solar energy with peak electricity demand for cooling. Using better glass on buildings, external shading, increasing air movement and installing ceiling fans—all of these further reduce reliance on AC.
In the longer term, we can cool our streets by narrowing them, using less dark colors that absorb heat, and aligning streets to prevailing winds. There are also ways we can overhaul the way we do air conditioning itself.
Many cities already provide air-conditioned public spaces as a public health services; we could also redesign apartment buildings with social spaces for people to hang out, by, for example, transforming the much cooler basements into lounges.
We could build cooperative housing that is ecologically and efficiently designed, so that people can together manage their energy use and decide on their own innovations to lower temperature. Toronto has a district cooling system that uses cold water from the bottom of Lake Ontario, and then uses the warmed up water for the drinking water supply.

Scent Headcannons for whoever I want across Fandoms because I'm insane and exhausted, thank you for your time
Characters: Azul Ashengrotto, Rook Hunt, Chuuya Nakahara, Howard Phillips Lovecraft, Nikolai Gogol, Sebek Zigvolt, Trey Clover, Jouno Saigiku
Warnings: this is absolute trash slathered onto a page written by someone who got 1 hour of sleep last night. My condolences to you.
Azul Ashengrotto
Tumblr media
He smells like the fancy cologne with those terrible labels in French so no one actually knows the scent, they just recognize the word 'musk' and think it's absolutely manly-- whenever he's running the Lounge. When he's alone?
Smells like bananas, it's the gentle scent of his shampoo; it might not be prominent, but if you were to lie down in bed with him and cuddle, you would certainly get a whiff of the flax, chiaseed, and banana shampoo worked into his soft tresses.
Rook Hunt
Tumblr media
I'm almost 100% sure there's a vignette where he's mentioned using a cologne Vil made for him, but honestly I'm not sure what's a fever dream and what isn't these days, so he may smell like musk and some sort of flowery scent, or he may smell like cedarwood and patchouli, thanks to his heavily scented deodorant.
He loves anything heavily scented, it gives him a sense of distinct presence and gives you a headache. When he's hunting, however, he uses unscented products, so you may be able to escape the cloud of heady aroma occasionally by accompanying him on a hunting trip.
Chuuya Nakahara
Tumblr media
Another cologne user SHOCKING!
Chuuya's cologne is milder than you might think. He doesn't need a strong aroma predicting his presence, and he doesn't like it either. His cologne is light and scented with sandalwood and cherry.
It's just enough to smell on him when you come within two feet of him, but nothing even remotely overpowering.
Probably the most modest cologne user in this list. The rest of them absolutely bathe in them like it's the middle school boy's locker room with axe body spray.
Howard Phillips Lovecraft
Tumblr media
He smells like ozone. You might know it as the scent of being outside too long, but it is stuck to him. The general scent of the outdoors fluctuates on him.
He smells like salt water, particularly when you go in for awkward hugs, and his hair is coarse and knotted with sand and sea. He always smells like the ocean to some degree. You could drag him through a shower and wash and untangle that matted hair of his, and throw the most aromatic stuff possible on him and he still would come out smelling like seasalt and ozone.
It's never coming off of him. I hope you enjoy the sea.
G o o d l u c k
Bonus, the first time you tried to wash his hair out a nest of crabs crawled out and he wasn't even shocked.
Nikolai Gogol
Tumblr media
He smells like cookies. You may be thinking, why would he smell like cookies? Well, how do you think the DOA lured Sigma in?
It's his deodorant. It's highly strong. After one night of using it, he awoke to his entire bedding smelling strongly of warm cookies. I am definitely not describing the deodorant I use and speaking from experience cough coUGH
I hope you've got a strong stomach, because you will crave sweets every time you get a whiff, or, conversely you will think of Nikolai everytime you smell cookies.
Sebek Zigvolt
Tumblr media
Drowning himself nightly in whatever scent Malleus once mentioned was most pleasing to his senses 3 years ago. Probably eucalyptus and Anjou pear.
It is, luckily, a pleasing scent, even if it's so adept at assaulting your senses can smell him coming farther than his voice reaches. He's killing your ears and nose at the same time. The two birds didn't even require one stone, they dropped dead when he got too close.
Conversely, at home, he uses a light, citrus scented bodywash that leaves a pleasing glow on his skin and a comfortable smell clinging to him. He had to stop bathing in the pear scent after clients at his family's dental clinic vomited when he entered the room.
Trey Clover
Tumblr media
Another false alarm for bakers everywhere, believing their pastries grew legs and walked out the door. Smells like cinnamon rolls at absolutely all times.
It's very, very pleasant and most people adore the soft scent that eminates from him when he gets close.
It's the result of ordering a perfume on accident, after believing he was ordering a charcoal and birch scented cologne. It smelled good enough that he was willing to overlook the fact that it was for young girls.
Jouno Saigiku
Tumblr media
HE SMELLS SO GOODDDD
Turmeric and sage bodywash + flaxseed shampoo.
It's subtle, so you'll only be lucky enough to be graced with the scent if he lets you get close into his personal bubble, which can either be rare, or he could be extremely enthusiastic about keeping close contact with you at all times. It depends on who you are to him.
When he's going to an event or to receive some sort of award, he puts on a splash of pine-scented cologne. It's very classic, but he claims it fits him well.

CHAPTER TEN GUYS!!!!!!!!!
If Jason thought autumn in Athens was cold, the winters were fucking freezing. It had been three months since his arrival, putting the town in late December. Snow was perpetually on the weather forecast, and though the sky had not yet permitted it to fall, it was only a matter of time.
He was glad he didn’t have to spend his outdoor time among the corn anymore, since production of the crop wouldn’t start up again till spring, but the cows were only a tiny improvement. He would have to have a talk with them about that- maybe try to get them to stop mooing directly into his ear.
The cows loved Jason, so much that it was frightening. They’d gather around him like children waiting for story time when they weren’t too busy grazing, and when they were, they never strayed far. Miranda and Katie had seen him in the middle of a “cow cuddle”, as they liked to call it, multiple times. Jason pretended not to like it, but deep down, he appreciated the warmth they gave to his legs, even if he’d be a goner if they tried to stampede.
The real problem was the smell. He didn’t like to think about it.
Which was why he was extremely grateful when he saw Will appear over the crest of the hill, waving his arms widely in greeting. The other blond was yelling something he couldn’t quite catch.
“Sorry, what was that?” He shouted back.
Will repeated whatever he said the first time, not much clearer, but certainly slower.
“Take a bow in front of the pastor? What?”
“Take. The. Cows. Out. Of. The. Pasture,” Will enunciated, cupping his hands to his mouth in a poor imitation of a megaphone. He then proceeded to yell another order down at him.
It was at that moment that Carol the Cow took the opportunity to challenge Bertha the Bovine to a mooing contest, which just so happened to take place right in Jason’s left ear canal. “Huh?”
Will sighed heavily, putting a hand on his forehead and dragging it down his face. There was an echo of exasperated laughter followed by a clear call of “come back to the house for lunch”.
Jason nodded, realized Will probably couldn’t see him perform such a small movement, and pivoted to giving him a thumbs up. Judging by the way Will tipped his hat and headed in the direction of the farmhouse, he had gotten the message.
~*~
The frost wasn’t so bad if it meant Leo would walk around looking like that.
The other man was lounging on the porch, fiddling with the sleeves of his puffy jacket and tapping rhythmically on the bench’s wood. His cheeks had a permanent flush to them because of the cold. The unzipped coat he had on revealed a tan sweater with a little mallard on the place where his heart would be. What caught Jason’s attention the most, however, was the out of place frown on the other man’s face.
“Is there something wrong?” Jason asked, hand pausing on the door handle.
Leo looked up from the armrest with narrowed eyes. He quickly shook off his annoyed look when he saw who he was talking to. “Oh, no, nothing’s wrong. Don’t worry about it,” he laughed nervously, brushing nonexistent dust off of his shoulder.
His hand left the doorknob. “Are you sure? Because you looked kind of sad.”
Leo heaved a deep sigh. “You remember Calypso?”
“Your ex, right?”
“She’s gonna be here soon.”
“Oh.”
“And I have to like, talk to her and shit.”
“Woof,” he sympathized.
“Yeah, I know, it- wait, what? Woof? Where’d that come from?”
“Uh, my sister used to say it all the time. As in, woof, man, that sucks. Woof, that’s rough buddy. Woof-”
“Okay, okay, I get it,” Leo laughed. It was for real this time. “Just stop saying woof!”
Jason smiled. “Why? It’s a perfectly good word.”
“Because I’m starting to think that Piper’s right when she calls you a dog.”
Jason made a sound suspiciously close to the one Festus made when he was in need of attention. “I’m not a dog!”
Leo devolved into giggles, which was music to Jason’s ears, but that was nothing new.
~*~
He had spent twenty minutes chatting with Leo before realizing he had to head in for lunch. He said goodbye (alas, it was with a wave instead of a kiss on the forehead) and hoped that the others weren’t yet done with their meals.
He exhaled deeply when he entered the farmhouse, relieved that his breath was no longer visible. The cozy warmth chiseled away at his frigid skin. He sniffled and made a subconscious note to ask if there were any tissues around.
At the dining table sat the other farmhands, thankfully. Katie and Miranda were sharing a copious amount of scarves as they ate, and there were biscuit crumbs in Katie’s half. Clarisse had her hair down for once, her red bandana instead going around her neck. Will was on his way to get another hot cup of coffee from the kitchen. Piper, with at least three quilts wrapped around her being, was shivering like there was no tomorrow. Mr. McLean was solemnly waiting for his bacon to finish heating up in the microwave.
“It’s bacon time,” the man uttered under his breath as Jason passed.
Somehow, Clarisse heard him, judging by the fact that she responded by mumbling “bacon time is the best time.”
Jason would have snorted, but that would have sent snot flying out of his nose, so instead he went for a grin. “Are there any tissues anywhere?” He asked, holding back a sudden and violent sneeze.
The mountain of blankets commonly known as Piper chucked a tissue box from the hutch’s counter at him. He caught it, but it was too late. He let out a rapturous sneeze, sound akin to that of a cartoonish zap of electricity, into his sleeve.
There was a chorus of “bless you”s.
He opened his mouth to say thank you, but all that came out was another sneeze, which prompted another outcry of “bless you”.
“Do you need some cold medicine, son?” Mr. McLean asked, already reaching for the medicine cabinet. “Hmph. We’re out of Sudafed.”
“It’s-” Jason betrayed himself with another sneeze- “it’s alright. My nose is just a little stuffy. I’m used to it being this, um, cold.”
Another round of “bless you”s came at him.
“Just a warning, we don’t bless you after the third one, so you’re on thin ice,” Piper added. True to their word, there were no “bless you”s when he sneezed in response. Finally, he blew his nose to the best of his ability, sounding like he would not have been out of place in the trumpet section of a band.
He set the box on the counter next to the coffee maker and threw away the used tissue in the trash can under the kitchen sink. He headed to the cabinet to grab his mug from the cupboard. He had gotten used to using his plain one, identified with it almost. He liked the way he could see the coffee stains on the inside, signs that he had drank from it before. Signs that he had been there. Signs that he had changed something, that he would leave something behind, however small.
It wasn’t there today.
He checked the dishwasher.
Not there either. Huh.
The sink? No… how odd.
“Do you guys have any idea where my mug went?” He turned his head to the dining table, looking for help.
“Check the cabinet,” Piper suggested with a grin. Was that a sly twitch of Mr. McLean’s mouth or just a figment of Jason’s imagination?
“Okay, but I already checked it,” he conceded, opening the cupboard doors again.
Despite himself, his eyes started to water when he came up empty. It was just a silly old mug, a plain one at that. It didn’t even have his name on the bottom. But it was his. Wordlessly, he shut the door (a little harder than he intended, he’ll admit) and looked back at Piper with eyes trying desperately not to shut. He was afraid a few tears with minds of their own would fall out if he closed them.
“Woah, there, dude,” Piper panicked upon seeing the telltale glistening in his eyes. Her hands went up in- what did that look mean, surrender? “It’s okay. Just- take a look at the first shelf again, alright?”
He did as he was told, grateful for the shield of the cabinet door protecting him from their prying eyes. At least they wouldn’t see his face as he was crying- Father had always told him it wasn’t a good look.
Alright, let’s see. There were just three mugs on the first shelf- Leo’s mug with the cartoon vegetables, Mr. McLean’s Peanuts mug that he hadn’t yet filled, and. And…
And a new one.
Reaching out with a cautiously hopeful hand, he grabbed the handle of the unfamiliar ceramic cup. Although the mug itself was a stranger, he recognized the graphic on it. It was a replica of Monet’s “The Artist’s Garden at Giverny”, circa 1900. Rows of violet bushes carved up the umber walkway, the background punctuated by lanky trees with outstretched leaves. A serene blue sprayed across all the spaces not covered in greenery or ground. It was bright, it was beautiful, it was breathtaking.
And on the bottom, the name “Jason” was scrawled in violet marker.
It was his.
Oh, he was being a bit dramatic, wasn’t he? Some may call him sappy. But he couldn’t bring himself to care. He closed the door, looking away from his mug only to smile widely at his friends.
“I saw the title and thought of you,” Piper said with a matching grin. “These guys-” she gestured around to the others at the table- “were the ones who suggested the art idea, though.”
“You just talked too much about painting stuff to do anything else.” Clarisse shrugged in an effort to come off as nonchalant.
“Yeah, I’m still shocked by the amount of times you look at stuff and say ‘this could be a nice painting’. With, like, a style diagnosis and everything,” Will added. “And then I imagine it and I go, ‘yeah, this shit belongs in a museum’.”
Katie laughed. “Remember the time you looked at me and Miranda standing in front of the barn and told us we looked straight out of American Gothic? I do.”
“Or the time you spent half an hour telling us about the comparisons between baroque and rococo,” Miranda pondered. “You know, my friend Rachel would love you. She’s an art nerd, too.”
“Thank you,” he whispered, trying not to blink. If he did, there would be big fat tears rolling down his cheeks and big fat sobs coming out of his mouth. He offered a wobbly smile instead of saying anything else.
Piper walked over and clapped him on the back. “No problem, man. It’s what family does, right?”
Okay, that was it. That’ll do it. The word “family” coming out of her mouth was just too much. He started to cry.
And then, Piper brought him in for a hug, and he was pretty sure everything was right in the world.
And then! Just when he thought it couldn’t get any better, he felt Mr. McLean’s hand on his shoulder and he saw Will’s blond hair all up in his face and he heard Clarisse’s big belly laugh and he smelled the residue of gardening soil that had worked its way into Katie and Miranda’s hair.
Family, Jason thought, was the best word in the English language. Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary defined family as “the basic unit in society traditionally consisting of two parents rearing their children”, but the word felt suspiciously like this.

Why should we choose teak for outdoor lounge furniture?
The outdoor lawn is the most fascinating area of your home. You like to decorate it with different kinds of sitting setups. Some want to add lounge chairs, small stools or puffs. But whenever you seek outdoor lounge furniture, having one crafted from premium quality teak is good. Now you might say, why teak? It is because teak always gives a Royal look to the furniture. Its richness and glossy texture makes it outshine all others on the list. Hence let's enlighten readers on why teak is chosen as an outdoor furniture material.
Tumblr media
●     Beautiful design and Refine.
Whenever you want lounge furniture for an outdoor area, look for teak. It is because teak adds a refined touch to the whole lounge setting furniture. Besides that, the design is tastefully created to add bliss. One more thing is that the mix and match of teak with other materials like concrete, rope, aluminium or wicker adds a modern look to the outdoor furniture
Tumblr media
●     Always Sustainable
The exciting thing about teak is that it is always sustainable. Teak never ends up in waste, and you can reclaim a hundred per cent of it. Most importantly, the reclaimed teak can be used to craft new outdoor furniture designs. Furniture manufacturers do ensure that the teak logs have the proper FSC certification.
●     Hassle less Maintaining
Whenever you want to design furniture for the outdoor lawn, don't choose anything other than teak. It is because you know that the outdoor area is more prone to dust, dirt and grime. So if you choose any other material for your furniture, it would be daunting for you to maintain the same. To avoid such a cleaning hassle, it's good to have the teak. So use a clean cotton cloth to wipe off the dust. However, use a small brush with fine bristles to clean any spot from a specific area. Also, you can gently wash the areas spotted with watermarks.
Tumblr media
Final thought
So the above talked are some vital pointers that say why teak is the best for outdoor furniture. Amidst all, you can try out the Outdoor Lounge products or Aluminium Outdoor Lounge.

Paul Morrissey
Film director whose close collaboration with Andy Warhol included the trilogy Flesh, Trash and Heat
Andy Warhol’s films, which tested the endurance of audiences and made icons out of the marginalised and dissolute, altered profoundly the nature of cinema. Much of the work which bore his name from the late 1960s onwards, however, was made by the writer-director Paul Morrissey, who has died aged 86. “Warhol is a trade term,” said Morrissey. “Like Disney.”
About his famous friend and collaborator he could be comically scathing. “He didn’t have many points of view,” he said in 1996. “He didn’t have many ideas at all, actually. Maybe three. If he made a choice, it was almost always the worst possible choice in the world.”
Stephen Koch, the author of Stargazer: The Life, World and Films of Andy Warhol (1991), called the two men “mutually incompatible talents … Morrissey utterly blind to the refined complexity of Warhol’s experience of the world; Warhol wholly incompetent to assemble the often beguiling commercial product Morrissey sells under Warhol’s name.”
The first decade or so of Morrissey’s career was given over to orchestrating and managing projects under the Warhol name: not just the films but the stewardship of the avant garde rock pioneers the Velvet Underground (whom he had brought to Warhol’s attention) as well as the launch in 1969 of the influential magazine Interview, which Morrissey co-founded. It sometimes seemed as though the rest of his life was spent fighting to have his contribution recognised.
Morrissey was also Warhol’s personal manager from 1965 to 1974. Asked what this entailed, he said: “I had to think of things that he might do, I had to do them, and then I had to pretend that he was involved.” The two men met in the early 60s when they were both showing their work in New York. After Morrissey had assisted on, and co-directed, Warhol’s films for several years, a turning point arrived in 1968 in the shape of the camp western Lonesome Cowboys.
“Before that, I had been helping Andy make the kind of movies he wanted to make, which was the kind of movie which looked like nobody had made it,” Morrissey said in 1978. “Lonesome Cowboys was the first time we were making an effort.” The characters, including gay gunslingers, were still bickering and flirting and talking about their hairdos, as they had always done, only now they were doing it outdoors in Arizona, wearing costumes and riding horses, rather than lounging around in ratty Lower East Side apartments. This combination of tones and styles (timeless genre conventions side by side with a modern, spaced-out looseness) introduced a new piquancy.
Morrissey achieved his most striking results with the acute, funny and freewheeling trilogy of Flesh (1968), Trash (1970) and Heat (1972). Each showcased the sullen, swaggering beauty of Morrissey’s discovery Joe Dallesandro (immortalised as “Little Joe” in Lou Reed’s song Walk on the Wild Side), alongside “Warhol superstars” such as Viva and Jackie Curtis, and the transgender actors Candy Darling and Holly Woodlawn.
The pictures presented a compassionate portrait of outsiders struggling to make and maintain emotional connections. The great director George Cukor declared himself “lost in admiration” and even instigated a campaign, ultimately unsuccessful, to land an Oscar nomination for Woodlawn for her performance in Trash.
The plots of these movies were threadbare – Flesh, shot over the course of five Saturday afternoons, follows a hustler trying to drum up the money for a friend’s abortion – and sometimes second-hand. Heat, for instance, partially recycles Sunset Boulevard. But it was the attitude that counted, as well as the ambiguity over whether the films constituted art or reality. Though the performances could be affectless to the point of mundanity, Morrissey was adamant about the dividing line between cinema and life. “If a person is in front of a camera, they’re acting,” he said. “It’s not possible to live in front of a camera. What I always believed in was the truthfulness of artificiality.”
Born into an Irish Catholic family in New York, Paul was the son of Joseph, a lawyer, and his wife, Eleanor, and he remained a devout Catholic all his life. He was educated at Fordham preparatory school and Fordham University, where he began making 16mm films.
His first short depicted a priest saying mass on the edge of a cliff before throwing the altar boy to his death. Another, Civilization and Its Discontents, featured “a hood in a pea jacket strangling a fat albino” while Like Sleep showed two drug addicts nodding off. These brought him to Warhol’s attention and led to his involvement on films including My Hustler (1965) and Bike Boy (1967). His first feature-directing credit, shared with Warhol, was on the three-and-a-half hour, split-screen Chelsea Girls (1966). It was precisely the formalist experimentation of that film which some Warhol loyalists accused Morrissey of betraying when he manoeuvred the artist’s brand toward the ordered narratives of Hollywood melodrama.
While Warhol was recovering after being shot by Valerie Solanas, founder and sole member of the Society for Cutting Up Men (SCUM), Morrissey assumed full creative control over the films – or, rather, his creative control over them was finally made explicit. After Flesh, Trash, Heat, and Women in Revolt (1971), which included a send-up of SCUM in the shape of PIGs (Politically Involved Girls), Morrissey moved in a different direction. Taking Dallesandro with him, he made a pair of kitsch, gory but technically accomplished horror films in Italy: Flesh for Frankenstein (1973) – released in the US as Andy Warhol’s Frankenstein – and Blood for Dracula (1974). “I’m always a little afraid of getting stuck doing one thing,” he admitted.
No one could accuse him of that. Flesh for Frankenstein was shown initially in 3D, so that a man whose hand is sliced off seemed to bleed all over the stalls, his guts wobbling in the audience’s faces on the end of a sharpened pole.
Morrissey’s next film, The Hound of the Baskervilles (1978), was even more unlikely: a madcap take on Sherlock Holmes starring much of the British comedy establishment, including Peter Cook, Dudley Moore and Kenneth Williams, as well as the theatrical giant Joan Greenwood, who remarked of Morrissey: “He’s a dear, really, but the first few days one didn’t know where one was. One got used to him. He’s jolly clever.” Critics were less impressed: Time Out magazine remarked that “a first-year film student would be ashamed”.
He continued making films, including Forty Deuce (1982), starring Kevin Bacon as a hustler, and Mixed Blood (1984, aka Cocaine), about Hispanic drug dealers in Manhattan, and spent most of the rest of his life talking about, and clarifying his part in, the Warhol story.
He remained throughout his career proudly rightwing, outspokenly moralistic and wholly indignant, railing against everything from drugs – “There’s no difference between a person using drugs and a piece of refuse” – to method acting: “When you see people like Daniel Day-Lewis and Ralph Fiennes screaming and hyperventilating, you’re seeing the phoniest kind of bad acting. You may as well have a ‘men at work’ sign. It’s not acting if you can see it.”
Despite the marginal nature of much of his work, he was at heart a populist. “I’m very traditional about everything,” he said. “I like action, comedy, pretty colours, pretty people. Art is a formula any idiot can manage. Competing in the marketplace is the only challenge left.”
He is survived by his brother, Kenneth.

— BASICS: JOHN CONSTANTINE.
Tumblr media
▸ IS YOUR MUSE TALL / SHORT / AVERAGE?    slightly taller than the average at 6'0" even, but he tends to slouch and lounge a lot so he often looks shorter when standing, taller when sitting.
▸ ARE THEY OKAY WITH THEIR HEIGHT? yeah, mostly. considering hell seems to have something in the weetabix making every demon fucking massive, he wouldn't mind an extra couple of inches so he's not always being intimidating at chin-level, but he's pretty confident in his appearance and doesn't care much for something he can't change.
▸ WHAT’S THEIR HAIR LIKE? soft, curly, natural blond with light grey (which will eventually be white) coming in around the temples & part. usually just long enough to droop into his eyes when left un-gelled.
▸ DO THEY SPEND A LOT OF TIME ON THEIR HAIR / GROOMING?    depends on his mental health, but usually yes. he's got hair masks, a bunch of different pomades & mousse, and he often shaves his chest & plucks nose hairs. he's got a multi-step skincare routine, is not averse to putting on makeup, and tends to experiment with different colognes in combination with whatever scented products he puts in his hair. in a low period, it's all charcoal soap + 3-in-1 shampoo-conditioner, slap some water on his face and go, but on average he spends a decent bit of time on upkeep.
▸ DOES YOUR MUSE CARE ABOUT THEIR APPEARANCE / WHAT OTHERS THINK? not much personally these days, and not so much cares. it's more that he's aware of how his looks can make an impression under specific sets of circumstances (be it a good or bad impression), and hyperaware that with his current reputation, he might need to make a fairly big impression at any given time. it's usually important to his survival that others perceive him the way he wants them to and he knows that all too well, but at a personal level, he couldn't give less of a shit whether someone side-eyes him on the street as a fop or he's dressed down for dressed-up company.
— PREFERENCES.
▸ INDOORS OR OUTDOORS? bit of a toss-up, but indoors. he often feels too exposed if he's outside for too long.
▸ RAIN OR SUNSHINE? he doesn't particularly mind either, but finds that rain is usually thematically reflective of his mood.
▸ FOREST OR BEACH? the beach. he doesn't swim, or like sand, but it has good memories for him.
▸ PRECIOUS METALS OR GEMS? precious metals, they have utility; they can be shaped to serve a purpose, and signify things like love and commitment. he's seen people do some truly heinous shit for gems that'll just sit in a vault or on a shelf somewhere later, doing fuckall; he can't bring himself to value them the same way.
▸ FLOWERS OR PERFUMES? perfumes. smelling them involves fewer bugs, and often nicer circumstances.
▸ PERSONALITY OR APPEARANCE? personality. you can dress up a shit in armani all you like, it still won't stink any less.
▸ BEING ALONE OR BEING IN A CROWD? being in a crowd. he loves people, most of the time; loves to brush up against the edges of their normal lives.
▸ ORDER OR ANARCHY? a measure of both, ideally, but order's not worth shit if it comes at the cost of personal freedoms. anarchy, on the other hand, is usually pretty fun.
▸ PAINFUL TRUTHS OR WHITE LIES? immensely circumstantial. but there's no point in ignoring a painful truth when it's right there in front of your face, or in refusing to deliver it when it's right there in your hands, and denial starts to piss him off past a certain point.
▸ SCIENCE OR MAGIC? is he a joke to you?
▸ PEACE OR CONFLICT? peace, all the way, every time. he wants peace for himself so badly. but as he says about conflict & violence, "you can't pretend it isn't happening, right?" similar to hard truths, if fists are about to start flying then there's no point playing pacifist and hoping no one hits you; and if someone needs a good telling-off, regardless of the delicacy of the environment, then he's more than happy to shake that tree.
▸ NIGHT OR DAY? night, when he has space to think. besides, no one's going to stop to question a guy in a trenchcoat wandering the streets in the dark.
▸ DUSK OR DAWN? dusk, right when the pubs start picking up with life and laughter and the stars are starting to come out.
▸ WARMTH OR COLD?   warmth. he always thinks of jacko and people like him when it's cold.
▸ MANY ACQUAINTANCES OR A FEW CLOSE FRIENDS? he doesn't mind either, so long as he has company, but his life is at its best when he's got a few close friends to hang around who truly know him.
▸ READING OR PLAYING A GAME? reading. he devours books like a termite.
— QUESTIONNAIRE.
▸ WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR MUSE’S BAD HABITS?    smoking incessantly is always the first one that comes to mind; running his mouth regardless of whether he can back it up if things escalate is another. abruptly running out on people without telling them why is a big one, especially when there's emotional conflict involved. he's terrible at apologizing in a way that sounds as sincere as it's meant, because he shies away from the vulnerability of admitting he was wrong and ends up sounding breezy or dismissive instead. he tends to read people's mail if he thinks the packaging "looks interesting". he treats his body like a punching bag and it never occurs to him how often he might get his friends in trouble because they (shockingly) care enough about him to want to defend him.
▸ HAS YOUR MUSE LOST ANYONE CLOSE TO THEM? HOW HAS IT AFFECTED THEM?   so many people. his dad's death and his sister's death especially fucked with him, because he feels that both were directly (or indirectly if he's feeling generous with himself) his fault. his dad's death led to him killing a man, which has haunted him ever since; his sister's death led to his estrangement from his niece because 1) she blamed him and 2) he ran off and avoided her + the funeral arrangements when she needed him around most, which he'll always regret. the latter also really, indelibly soured his outlook on life + magic + himself.
his friend header's death is another significant one: it's the one that convinced him to try to go things alone whenever possible instead of asking for help when he needs it, because he'd asked header for help and that's what got him killed; it also heralded the deaths of most of his friend group at the time, which only cemented his resolution to try and keep his friends as uninvolved in his problems as possible.
▸ WHAT ARE SOME FOND MEMORIES YOUR MUSE HAS?    going to the beach with his dad & sister as a kid, the wild days of touring with mucous membrane, staying with brendan & kit in ireland after ravenscar, his 40th birthday party, sitting with dani & their friends watching rich the punk attach skis to the roof of a van, catching up with chas after a long time apart, pissing off the roof of ravenscar after winning ownership just to let it rot.
▸ IS IT EASY FOR YOUR MUSE TO KILL? no. never. he's killed one person in his whole life (at least directly, with his own two hands), and it has haunted him ever since. even the idea of leading someone to their unavoidable death (like he did with gary lester) makes him sick at heart; although he's found peace with the idea of leading someone into a position where their own actions will inevitably get them killed, because most of the people he does that to are assholes who could choose to make a different decision at any time.
▸ WHAT’S IT LIKE WHEN YOUR MUSE BREAKS DOWN?    tsunami: an ominous retreat from emotion followed by a roaring tidal wave of self-destructive behavior, alcohol, and engaging with his hallucinations that makes it suddenly and abruptly clear to anyone who's only ever seen the put-together occultist or the insouciant con man that this guy is always wearing some mask or other, because this new person before them is not fucking alright and hasn't been in decades. it's a mess, and it's ugly, and it leaves a lot of debris in its wake. he knows this, and he tries his best to break down anonymously / in secret when he can: pushes people away or gets them pissed at him enough to leave on their own, then either finds some open-late haunt to terrorize that has a high enough tolerance to let him drink for a while and aggressive enough bouncers to throw him out when they're sick of it, or seeks out strangers who will fight him / fuck him into realizing it was a bad idea.
on the other hand, if someone he knows and trusts sticks it out through every attempt to scare them off, then he will have no recourse but to crumple and sob like a little kid in front of them, and that can be just as terrifying as — if not more so than — the anger issues and bad decisions.
▸ IS YOUR MUSE CAPABLE OF TRUSTING SOMEONE WITH THEIR LIFE?    capable, yes, ostensibly. does he? rarely. it's more common for him to trust someone not to fuck him over as an accomplice while he's gambling with his own life, than for him to place the whole of it completely in their hands. it's more often that he's surprised when the people he trusted enough to keep informed choose to back him up when he needs it most.
▸ WHAT’S YOUR MUSE LIKE WHEN THEY’RE IN LOVE?  sentimental, silly, soft. cleans up his act and appearance, gets more careful, socializes more, finds hope in the little things. optimistic. tries harder to live. smiles and laughs without a trace of bitterness behind it. replaces every pain-soaked, value-defining cornerstone of his life with pictures of them. comes in soaked from the rain because he saw some flowers they liked & stopped to pick them / realized he was passing their favorite restaurant & doubled back to pick up food / got lost in thought & ended up walking to the place where they met. stresses about being good enough for them. forgets their birthday, then scrambles to make up for it. rewires every pathway in his life to revolve around them.
he's not always healthy about it, he's not always good at it, but he loves with every fiber of his being and basks in the warm glow of having a future that isn't quite so lonely, even as he waits with bated breath and eyes shut tight for it all to come crashing down.

NemoPen Week Day 5: School Dance
As Penny's graduation draws super close, she finally allows herself the experience of attending a school dance, now that she has Nemona to make her feel comfortable enough to do so.
Excerpt:
As the first song of the night ended, the crowd of partygoers cheered and clapped, catching their breath. Penny, who was still hanging at the sidelines, offered a few half-hearted claps, wondering where her date was. It wasn't like Nemona to be late, especially to an event like this... Even Scarlet had shown up already, and them arriving before Nemona was... just plain backwards. The familiar voice of Penny's friend echoed through the courtyard from the many speakers lined around the place. [ “Hey-hey-heyohhh, your buddy DJ Vice checkin' in on all you party people. We are just getting started here at the Naranja Spring Formal, so if you have requests or messages for the Applin of your eye, send 'em my way, and I will see what I can do. Comin' at you next, we've got some mellow beats to let ya'll catch your breath and mingle...” ] The volume of the next song was mixed up as he ended his speech, playing some lofi chill beats as those attending the dance were given the 'vibes' to cool off from all the excitement of that first number. A vibration startled Penny, who was already jumpy as it was. From out of a pocket sewn onto her dress, she produced her RotomPhone, which seemed to be more relaxed than usual, given the silky material it was getting to lounge in. Penny was garbed in a dress – a kind of fancy dress, at that. She'd initially wanted to go for a Sylveon-themed one, but... She didn't want to come across as too flashy, draw too much attention to herself... so she'd talked herself down into something black and gray, more subdued and simple, but also let Nemona have some sway in the decision-making, as she herself wasn't really that fussed. Part of her had wanted to wear a suit, honestly. But the other part of her had been waiting for a few years now to wear a fancy dress. And that part of her had won out, in the end. It was a dress that only really revealed a bit of her neck – room enough to wear a studded choker she'd received as a gift from her Team Star friends over the holidays – as well as her arms, which were pale in the outdoor lighting of that spring evening. Her hair, slightly grown out, was at an awkward length where she couldn't really style it too much, and so she'd let Mela fluff it out a bit with a combination of brushing, hair product, and heat. Beneath the black dress, she wore gray leggings, which slipped into goth platform shoes, which she'd gotten for herself for this exact occasion using her birthday money from her parents. This wasn't her first time wearing them – probably the third or fourth? She was still getting used to the added height they provided. Not a regular thing, but it still felt nice. She hoped this increase in height would make dancing with Nemona more interesting, if she didn't trip over herself first... Checking her phone, Penny read a text from Nemona. Rather than a series of shorter texts, it was sent as one single paragraph. ( Sorry I'm late! My hair took longer than expected and I had a wardrobe malfunction, but don't worry, I'm all set! On my way! Almost there! I am literally walking up the Mesagoza steps as I'm typing this! Wow, I hate this! My feet hurt! Remind me to never do this in dress shoes again! Woof...Gonna tire myself out before I even reach you at this rate...But I am literally so close! Sorry again! Just about there. ARC we've got to consider installing like a lift or something, this is...so totally not handicap friendly, right? These stairs, I mean. You'd better be ready to catch me when we dance because, oh wow, my legs are so tired already...Maybe you should get some punch or something ready for me? Please? Aw, man, some punch sounds really good right now. Seriously, why do we have the longest stairway ever at this place?! ) Penny had started smirking while reading it, and her face just continued to widen more and more as she read further into Nemona's off-the-cuff single text ramble. “What're you smilin' about?”
