Summary:

Stede Bonnet's been having panic attacks for almost as long as he can remember, suffocated by pressure and expectation. For years, he and Mary had an understanding, necessary for every stuffy networking party and corporate gala: I just need some air. And Stede would find the nearest exit, while Mary distracted the Badmintons before they could figure out where he'd gone. When Stede finally takes his life back — divorces Mary, moves to Melbourne, starts his own event management business — things get better, but he's still no good at parties. He still needs some air, even at the very events he's brought to fruition.

Meanwhile, Edward Teach, renowned chef and owner of Blackbeard's Catering, is wondering why the newest bigwig in events still hasn't hired him.

Modern AU set in Naarm/Melbourne, Australia; a family found and a romance grown in the alleyways behind galleries and function rooms.

Summary:

Framed pictures shake off of the walls, coming down to smash and shatter on the floor; their dresser tips over, slamming heavily down onto the wood below, and Blair screams again, throwing herself against Ed as if she can climb beneath his skin for safety.

Ed climbs back into the bed, pushing Blair into Stede’s side where Alma and Louis are already huddling. He brings his arms up over all four of them, protecting them if anything else should fall, but the quake seems to come to a stop only moments later.

For a second, they all just sit there together, clustered close, breathing heavily.

Then, quietly, Blair tells all of them the same words that Ed had heard her say to Louis before, and the television before that:

“They’re here.”

Siren!Izzy has always lived in my head rent free, even before s2 when we finally got Con's lovely singing voice on screen, so I just had to make something for it— with a Stizzy focused Steddyhands twist! I'm a sucker for a secret mermaid saving their reluctantly beloved sailor lol.

The lovely @acesaru was the best partner I could have asked for, a talented writer and lovely all around person to collab with! They perfectly capture Izzy's character voice and the banter between Stede and he is an absolute delight lol. The fic they wrote inspired by my art (and many many discord ramblings together lol) is amazing and the second chapter featuring my art drops today!

Stede's plan to grow vegetables at the inn starts innocently enough - until he becomes determined to win the admiration of their neighbours by winning the prize at the annual show. Ed gets jealous of the time Stede is spending with the garden instead of him, but struggles to find his own hobby because learning new things is hard. Guests keep coming to stay at the inn despite being grilled about their carrot-growing knowledge or getting told off when they mistake Ed's crochet for knitting.
