Jax Teller x Ortiz!F!Reader Juice & Sister!Reader 30 Day Fic Challenge
Word Count: 3k A/N: I had more thoughts to make this more of a Juice fic but then.... Jax LOL.
Warnings: All my fics are 18+ regardless of content. Mentions of blood, murder, death, assault, secrets, lying, trauma, abuse.
Word Count: 3k SOA Taglist: @drabbles-mc @justreblogginfics
As you opened your eyes, they squinted quickly as the bright sun hit them immediately. After blinking a few times, they tried to take in your surroundings. You were in the passenger seat of your car, the green signs on the highway were moving extremely quickly past you. It took you a minute to focus to see what was on the signs but soon enough you caught one that said Stockton 75 miles. That meant you weren’t too far off from where you were headed before you ran into the person at the wheel of your truck currently. That thought made you immediately snap your head over to see the blond haired man, hand on the steering wheel, white knuckled, his reaper hat holding back the oiled hair from the sleepless night prior.
“You look like shit.” You spoke up, clearing your throat as you did, placing his jacket that he had draped over you on his backpack.
It was the statement he had said to you when you ran into him at the truck stop last night. It was meant to be humorous but once he got a good look at you, he realized it held way more truth than he expected. The genuine concern is what brought him to load his Harley in the bed of your truck, and continue your drive out to Charming for you.
Staring at the smile growing on his face sent you back to the days you were falling in love with Jax Teller. Back when he had the kutte without the weight of the office patches.
“Didn’t want you to feel left out.” His voice sent a shiver through your body. It had been half a decade since you last saw him. It made you look him over more closely. His hair was longer, Jax always sported the long blonde look but this was a lot more lengthy than before, like something had happened that led him to forget to get it cut. As you looked at his beard, you thought maybe that was more the sign that things hadn’t exactly been smooth sailing for him. Your eyes moved down to his kutte, despite being new to you, the vice president patch on his right was dirty and worn.
“You think we could stop somewhere for me to freshen up, I don’t really want to jump scare my brother.” You started to look through your backpack for your toiletries as you spoke.
“Was planning to go to my place first, I know how you are with him.” His knuckles tightened on the wheel as the sentence left his mouth.
You weren’t sure whether you were annoyed or comforted by his statement. You knew exactly what he meant, and it was unreal to you that despite the insanity of this situation, you could still fight about the same things you fought about then.
“And how am I with him?” It was said in a way that you both knew the answer, but you wanted Jax to humor you, or maybe you just wanted to finally win this fight. You stopped your search for whatever in your bag and looked at him, eyebrows raised waiting for an answer.
“Cautious.” He spoke the word immediately and you felt the argument practically line up in your voice like it was muscle memory.
Keeping your relationship a secret was ultimately what broke you both up. And that’s what made you move back to the east coast where you and your brother grew up.
Jax followed up his statement quickly before you could let out a syllable of your argument. “For the record, I get it now. I think I was still a stupid young kid wanting to flaunt my girlfriend around.”
This was completely new to you.
You looked him over again and despite the distressed look to it, you caught the fresh stitching. The patch was not only new to you but new to him as well.
“I guess being the second in command makes you mature.”
“Makes you see what people can handle, too.” His voice was firm as he spoke, eyes still on the road.
“He wouldn’t have been able to handle it.” You agreed knowing your brother well. He was fun-loving, caring, hilarious, but he had demons. And if anyone else’s found their way to him, you knew it’d break him because he’d try so hard to take them on his own. Not saying Jax and your relationship was bad, it was surprisingly one of the better ones you’d been in, but you knew by having that, you’d be taking away the one thing that kept your brother stable.
“He gonna be able to handle what brought you out here?”
That snapped you out of your thoughts. Your eyes said it all but he didn’t even need to be looking at them to feel your shock and need for explanation.
“I saw the blood in the bed of your truck when I was loading my bike. Thought I’d taught you better than to leave behind evidence.”
“That’s mine.” It was so pointed how you said it.
That made Jax’s brow arch in curiosity. As fucked up as it sounded, it was relieving to you to be talking to someone who wasn’t shocked by the possibility of mysterious blood or being on the lam from a crime. To be talking to someone who almost found curiosity in the thought of the situation.
“I got mixed up with this group of friends out east.” He didn’t need to pry the information out of you, this was never an issue between you, sharing your thoughts with each other, talking through everything, was never the problem. Telling other people was. “Real party kids, you know, we were drinking, doing drugs, having a good time, until we weren’t.” You took a deep breath before getting into the depths of the story.
“We were hanging out on the front porch of someone’s house, it was late, or early, however you wanna describe it, and someone rolled up, I guess someone brought a friend who knew some not so great people.”
Jax had a feeling he knew where the story was going but he wanted to hear it from your account.
“I got stabbed.” This part of the story was so straight to the point compared to the rest. The context here didn’t matter much compared to the lead up.
“Still missing the part where you got blood in your truck.” Jax was only saying this because you stopped talking and he knew there were pieces of the story missing.
This was where it was hard to say what happened, partially because you couldn’t believe how stupid you were to let this happen to begin with, but also since it was traumatic.
“They tossed me in the bed of the truck and left me there to die.”
Jax’s grip got tighter against the wheel and he sucked his lips into his teeth, the anger rising as he thought about it.
“Obviously I didn’t.” You tried to lighten the mood.
“And you decided to come back here.” Jax nodded, fully understanding the story.
“After I killed the person who left me to die. Who just happened to be the one who stabbed me.” Again, the words came out with no lead up, just the point.
Jax’s eyes darted to you when you said it. Funny enough, it was what he expected the situation to be. An ex got abusive, it ended badly, or maybe an accident when you were drunk, but the thought went out once you ended your story.
“Did–” He was beginning to ask how you handled it, you knew that was what he was wondering.
“I handled it. No trace. I was coming back here just because I needed my family, needed a familiar face.”
“Sorry this familiar one looks like shit.” Jax was now trying to lighten the mood.
“It was an unexpected one too. I wasn’t even going to come to the clubhouse, was going to go straight to a motel and then right to Juice’s.”
“No love lost, I see.” He let out a laugh.
“More like too much love lost.” You leaned back in the seat and placed your feet up on the dash.
__________
You pulled back the shower curtain and wrapped the towel around your body, turning to wipe the fog off the mirror and stare at yourself. The shower brought some life back to your face, but the only thing that was going to make you look well rested was rest.
As you opened the bathroom door, you started to talk loud, calling out and asking if you could take a nap but your words got cut off as you slammed right into Jax whose hand was raised to knock on the bathroom door.
“Sorry.” He chuckled and stabilized you by wrapping his hands on your bare arms.
It was at that moment that the both of you realized this was the closest you’ve been in years. You felt Jax’s breath on your face, it smelt like coffee which made you smile inside. Something about the domesticity of him in his home drinking his morning cup of coffee.
“I was coming to see if you wanted french toast or waffles.” There was that domesticity again.
“Jax Teller, who used to burn eggs, is offering me french toast or waffles?” The water was still dripping down your skin as you spoke.
“Alright.” his head twisted to the side as he laughed and then looked back at you, his finger now on your shoulder catching one of the stray drops before retracting his hand and looking back at your eyes. “They’re pre-made in a package from the freezer, was just gonna toast ‘em, not get all fancy.”
“I’ll take both.”
“Both it is.” He was turning around to go back into the kitchen and you felt your breath exhale the moment he turned.
You both never got a chance to eat together, he came back to ask you about coffee or orange juice and ended up in his bed. Breakfastless and clothesless.
As much as it broke you to sneak out, you did it. Sneaking out like this reminded you of what you were trying to leave behind, but now, you had to remind yourself of how safe you felt being here. With Jax. You stepped into the kitchen and saw the toaster housing the burnt french toast accompanied by the burnt waffle in the slot next to it. You laughed and grabbed both, they’d still be better than the junk you were eating on the road. Grabbing a pen you left a note on the table for him.
Thanks for everything. Taking your burnt breakfast and heading to my brother’s. See you around. xx
With that, you were leaving. It was late afternoon now, meal times didn’t really have a time clock when you were traveling with no sense of time. Driving to your brother’s at this point was like muscle memory, you didn’t have to give it any thought and before you knew it you were there.
One thing about Juice was that he’d always welcome you with open arms and no questions. Okay some questions, but none that ever felt forced or pointed.
“Hey! What are you doing here?” He was so chipper and genuinely excited to see you as he opened the door.
“Refugee looking for shelter.” You smiled back and brought him in for a hug.
“Come in.” Juice pushed the door open completely and with his free hands moved to grab your bag out of your hand.
Immediately you felt like a piece of scum in his pristine apartment and you hadn’t even had the grime of the ride on you anymore. “You live here or just showcasing the place?” You teased him.
He sucked his tongue to the roof of his mouth and made a clicking noise. “I like to keep things neat.”
“I know we lived in the same house together for years.” You looked at the art on the walls, the only sign that someone made a home of this place. There were pictures of you both, pictures of Juice with your childhood dog, pictures of the club, SOA flags and Harley memorabilia.
“Hey I have this in my bag.” You smirked and moved to grab your backpack from his hands, he still hadn’t dropped it anywhere likely because he wasn’t sure where it’s place was in his sterile home.
You pulled the photo out from the side pocket, it was wrinkled and folded, the complete opposite of his.
“It’s before I started sponsoring, when I just worked at the shop.” He smiled, grabbing the photo from your hands. “You brought me and the guys homemade turkey sandwiches.”
“You always left your lunch at home.” You shook your head at the memory, “I hated coming by with just food for you.” It was true, you’d make a sandwich for the 4-5 guys that were working that day. It became a sort of bit, the guys were crossing their fingers that whenever Juice was working with them, he’d forgotten his lunch. It helped that you came with a bag of chips and a 6 pack along with the sandwiches. That’s what the picture was. You, Juice, Jax, and Lowell eating turkey sandwiches and washing it down with a beer.
“Everything okay?” Juice’s voice got solemn as he spoke, still looking down at the photo.
“It is now.” You nodded with a smile.
“You need my help with anything?” This time his voice raised an octave, in a more happy way.
“Just a place to crash.”
“Second room’s all yours.” He waved his arms in the direction of the room because he knew you were well aware of where it was.
“I’ll be sure to disinfect my bag before putting it down.” You teased him with a slight push and made your way to the room that used to be yours years ago.
By the time the two of you caught up, you leaving out the big details that you easily shared with Jax, it was nighttime. He brought you to the clubhouse, excited to share your arrival with the guys, and just happy to have his sister back in town.
You were plopped on one of the picnic tables as some of the club sat around you, laughing about some joke Tig just said, most of you laughing at him more than with him. Your beer was nestled in your hand as you sipped slow on it, not really feeling like getting drunk much these days.
“You’re nursing that beer.” Happy’s gruff voice alerted you. It was soft enough that only you heard him.
“Long drive cross country, it’s making me more tired than anything.” You explained, it was partially true.
But Happy saw through it.
“You killed someone.”
If you had been drinking the beer you would have spit it out by the abruptness of his comment.
“Excuse me?” You frowned and looked at him, you probably met this member a handful of times but you didn’t know him like you knew some of the other crew.
“I can tell, you got that vibe.” He nodded his head, his voice extremely raspy.
“That vibe?” You raised your brows.
“Yea, that life ain’t hold the same innocence vibe.” He answered you quickly.
“How would you know what that vibe is?” You were playfully asking now, knowing that it wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world if anyone here knew what you did, but it wasn’t something you were just blurting out.
He laughed at that and didn’t answer the question. “Don’t worry your secret’s safe with me.”
“You freakin’ out our guest, Happy?” Bobby was walking out from the clubhouse, followed by Juice with a new beer for you despite you still not having this one nearly finished.
“Happy?” You frowned and looked at Juice as you grabbed the beer.
Happy grinned and lifted his shirt up to show his abdomen littered with smiley face tattoos and suddenly with no explanation at all, every question you just asked in the last 5 minutes was answered.
“Oh.” You grabbed your nursed beer and finished it off quickly before moving to the new and cold one.
Before the conversation could continue, the sound of two motorcycles cut the sound of voices out completely. Your eyes moved to see who it was, even though based on who was here now, the options were limited. You caught a glimpse of his long locks when he took the helmet off. Instinctually your eyes jumped to the movement of the person who came in behind him, tall and burly, and despite him still being far back in the shadows, you knew it had to be Jax’s friend Opie. With ease, your eyes moved back to Jax as he brought his hand through his hair. It was oily again, or still, which had you starting to wonder what his day looked like after you left.
“Jax!” Juice called out from behind you and it brought you back to the current moment as Jax approached, taking off his riding gloves with a big smile on his face. “Look who's back on the west coast.” Juice was beyond excited to tell Jax, the thought of bringing back the days when the group of you would hang out clearly driving his enthusiasm.
“Yea, I–” Jax was about to say how he ran into you the night before, you knew it, but your eyes went wide and your head shook just ever so slightly as a hint to let him know you didn’t want Juice to know. Luckily you were behind Juice on the picnic table so he wasn’t able to see it but Jax did clearly.
What wasn’t clear was how he was taking your action. He seemed a little upset, but also he had a slight smirk on his face.
“Yea, I see that. It’s good to see you.” He changed his sentence, his eyes staring at you.
Behind him was Opie who clearly was aware of what happened between the two of you and was trying to hide his smirk from the awkwardness between you and Jax that only you three hopefully could feel.
Jax took a step forward and you moved off the picnic table to stand. His arm raised to bring you in for a hug.
“Thank you.” You whispered and squeezed him a little extra.
“No worries, as always, secret’s safe.”

The guys were all talking, but Juice wasn't paying attention. He was still quiet from having been sat next to you for the dinner party Gemma had thrown for the MC.
From where Juice was sitting, he was at the perfect angle to see into the kitchen, where Gemma was cleaning the mess and you were stood washing up. You were smiling as you worked alongside your mom. He could hear the faint sound of music as your hips moved slightly to the beat of whatever song you were listening to.
Juice was completely captured by you and had been for a while. He'd clammed up at dinner when you took the seat next to him, but seeing you like this—carefree and beautiful—made his heart beat faster and his mouth drier.
"Juice?" Tig nudges him with a smirk, clearly seeing what he has been staring at.
The club's tech guy glanced away from you to Tig with a confused dazed expression and quickly shakes himself seeing all the guys looking at him, "what?"
Clay narrowed his eyes as Jax turned to look in the direction Juice had been before turning back with a glare of his own, "She's off limits."

Your Sister
This is the 9th installment of the Not What It Seems Series
Summary: Opie goes to Jax to figure out how why you won't speak to him. As always 18+.
Jax was sitting outside the clubhouse smoking when Opie rode up. "You look rough" stated Jax as Opie hopped up next to him on the picnic table. Opie sighed heavily and ran his hands through his long hair. "Yeah. Your sister hasn't been around to tell me to clean up and shit." mumbled Opie staring at his boots. "Huh. Go figure a crow eater can't keep house" stated Jax feigning shock.
"Funny" replied Opie as he rolled his eyes. "This shit be a lot easier if your sister could learn her place." he added eyeing Jax out the side of his eye. "Careful" warned Jax as he turned to his best friend. Opie put his hands up. "All I'm saying is shes no Donna" stated Opie with a light chuckle to break the tension.
"Yeah Donna was a special type of woman to keep letting you put your dick in every living thing then in her" snapped Jax shooting him a tight smile. "Well you will be happy to know your sister hasn't let me fuck her yet. Which is why I keep "straying". snapped Opie air quoting straying.
"Final warning about how you talk about my sister" growled Jax as he stood up stomping on his unfinished cigarette. Opie rubbed his face before stalking over. "Tell her to come home" he called over his shoulder before riding out of the lot on his bike.
Jax stood for a moment longer before shooting Juice a text telling him to keep his sister out of Charming a bit longer.

Preview: Seven Years
Juice Ortiz & older sister! Oc
Words: 1,673
Summary: After 7 long years, Felisa finally tracks down her estranged brother Juan Carlos.
Warnings: abandonment, estranged family, personal struggles, a slap to the face, see prompts.
An: the amount of times I deleted then rewrote this one shot, I’ve been fighting with this one for over a year and a half now. Oh it’s been a journey! 🙄 I deleted it again last month, now here we are. I hate the direction the show took juice, so that was my spark for this. The storylines for him were so dumb, but I decided, what if he had an estranged sibling who finds him when he’s spiraling? What if their alters his fate?
Whumpril day 24: (queued to post day of, will be on A03 a day early) prompts: secrets, “what have you done?”
Below is a preview * read in full on A03
Earlier
Felisa shoved her hands in her pockets, bawling them into fists as she eyed the two men before her. This isn't the first time she’s seen bikers, but this is the first time she’s been up close. The rock in her gut continued to sink, getting heavier and heavier. Staying aware of the men before her, she also eyes the ones in the background.
If Juan is really here, she hates this for him. Why this? Why run off and merge with something like this? And from what she could see, they were all white, and what she heard about groups like this, makes it even weirder that this is where her brother chose to be.
New York City was far from perfect, their childhood wasn’t easy, but he left a melting pot of cultures and ended up here, this white ass town called Charming. There hasn’t been a single second of ease since she got here. Sure, people were friendly enough, she saw some people of color, but the numbers were almost nonexistent compared to the majority.
A biker gang is one thing, but an all-white biker gang. What was her brother thinking?

Stuff I'm Looking Forward To in September
Summer's over and now it's Back to School month! In addition to Labor Day (Sept. 4), 9/11 (Sept. 11), Rosh Hashanah (sundown on Sept. 15 to nightfall on Sept. 17), First Day of Fall (Sept. 23) and Yom Kippur (Sept. 25) here is what's on my radar this month:
Movies:
Stop Making Sense
I guess you could say I've written a great deal about Jonathan Demme's brilliant Talking Heads concert film Stop Making Sense (for proof, read here). Demme, in his prime, captured the Talking Heads in their prime as they performed over the course of 4 nights in Hollywood. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of those concerts (the film was released in 1984), A24 is re-releasing this legendary film in IMAX on 9/11 before a wider 4K remastered release in Sept. (my review and coverage coming soon!).
Dumb Money
Director Craig Gillespie has done some interesting work based on true stories (i.e. I, Tonya and last year's limited series Pam and Tommy) and now he's doing the movie version of the Gamestop becoming the hottest stock on Wall Street. Opens 9/22.
Drive-Away Dolls
I was a huge fan of the Coen brothers, but after The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, they began working solo. After Joel Coen's The Tragedy of Macbeth, I'm excited to see Ethan Coen's solo feature, an action comedy about inept criminals, which is his wheelhouse! Opens 9/22. [ NOTE: This has since been moved to 2024, awaiting exact release date ]
Flora and Son
John Carney has very quietly become one of the best directors of the now. His last feature film Sing Street was my #1 Movie of 2016. Now he's back with this Sundance hit, which once again is about musicians. Can't wait! Opening in select theaters on 9/22 and then streaming on Apple TV+ on 9/29.
The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar
It is very rare that a short film makes my Stuff I'm Looking Forward To list, but when it's director Wes Anderson adapting Roald Dahl, like he did with the adaptation of The Fantastic Mr. Fox, it makes my list! This short premieres on 9/27 on Netflix.
The Kill Room
It's a Pulp Fiction reunion with Uma Thurman and Samuel L. Jackson starring in this thriller, which also stars Thurman's daughter Maya Hawke. Opens 9/29.
Music:
Speedy Ortiz Rabbit Rabbit
It's been five years since the last Speedy Ortiz album, which makes this new one super exciting. Album drops 9/1. (Review to come).
Courtney Barnett End of the Day (music from the film Anonymous Club)
Last year I caught the documentary Anonymous Club about one of my favorite musicians to emerge out of the 2010s Courtney Barnett. Now the instrumental music score that she composed for the doc is getting a release. Album drops on 9/8. (Review to come).
Will Butler + Sister Squares Will Butler + Sister Squares
Will Butler was a vital part of Arcade Fire and before he left the band in 2022, he had already done some great solo albums. He released his first solo album Policy in 2015 and it was just as good as some of Arcade Fire’s albums. I named Policy my #2 Album of 2015 and I was lucky enough to see him live in 2015 just before the album’s release (read my review here). His 2020 album Generations was the next best thing to an Arcade Fire album during that time. Now he has a new album with his new group Sister Squares dropping on 9/22 (Review to come).
The Breeders Last Splash 30th Anniversary Edition
Last month marked the 30th anniversary of one of my all time favorite albums ever, Last Splash by The Breeders (read my remembrance here). To celebrate the band is doing a tour and also releasing a 30th anniversary edition dropping 9/22!
The Replacements Tim Let It Bleed Edition Box Set
I out and out love The Replacements and their 1985 album Tim is considered by many to be their best. Now the album is getting the box set treatment with an Ed Stasium mix of the album, outtakes and concert recordings. Album drops 9/22 (Review to come).
Wilco Cousin
A Wilco release is always a high priority for me. I’ve been lucky enough to get to review the band’s Ode to Joy and Cruel Country albums as well as this year's Record Store Day release Crosseyed Strangers and they certainly are one of the greatest American rock bands of the last 25 years. Hands down! This new album is said to be a return to their early 00s rock sound. Woo hoo! Album drops 9/29.
Conventions:
Collectibles Extravaganza
The team that run the Northeast Comic Con, which I've covered a lot in the past, have a collectibles show at the Boxborough Regency in Boxborough, MA from Sept. 30-Oct. 1. Always a fun time!

He told his wife, "I love you," then left for work that morning. He never returned. It was September 11, 2001.
He was a husband. He was a veteran. He was an immigrant. And, he was a hero.
According to the Homeland Security web site, Rick Rescorla is credited with saving 2,700 lives that morning, when he defied official instructions to stay in the building and instead evacuated employees at his company on the 44th floor of the South Tower.
Another hero was Betty Ong, who was one of the flight attendants aboard American Airlines Flight 11, who gave vital information to the ground crew that eventually led to the closing of airspace by the FAA for the first time in United States history.
Flight 93 passengers Todd Beamer, Mark Bingham, Tom Burnett and Jeremy Glick fought their hijackers, preventing the plane from reaching its intended target, possibly the White House or the U.S. Capitol Building.
There were also 412 First Responders who died in the line of duty - 343 firefighters (including a chaplain and two paramedics) of the New York City Fire Department, 37 police officers of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Police Department, 23 police officers of the New York City Police Department, and 8 emergency medical technicians and paramedics from private emergency medical services and 1 patrolman from the New York Fire Patrol.
There were also smaller acts of bravery, such as Michael Benfante and John Cerqueira carrying a woman in a wheelchair down 68 floors of the north tower of the World Trade Center to safety and Frank De Martini and Pablo Ortiz of the Port Authority who saved at least 50 lives in the North Tower.
They and many others were the heroes of 9/11.
In all, there were 2,977 people who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001. The victims were mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, sisters and brothers who belonged to many faiths, races, and cultures, from more than 90 countries.
Of the Americans - they were white, they were black, they were brown, they were red, they represented all the different colors that built this nation. They were LGBTQ, they were straight, they were men, they were women, they were liberal, they were conservative, they were young, they were old . . . they were ALL Americans.
No one questioned whether they stood for the national anthem or put their hand over their heart, no one demanded they show their citizenship papers, no one questioned their love for their country.
I remember 9/11. I remember the names of the victims being read. I remember the heroes who bled. I remember the families who cried. I also remember that for one day, the entire world cried with us, marched in candlelight vigils in support of "America," whether it was in England or Iran -- for one moment the world was one.
I post this each year not just to remember the victims, the heroes, all the people who were directly touched in some way that day, but I also want to post this for those who are still suffering today, the families who had no choice but to continue without their loved ones, the veterans of the wars who were not supported upon their return and represent a majority of the suicides in this nation (on this World Suicide Prevention Day), the first responders who sacrificed their lives and their health and are still suffering today and their brothers and sisters fighting fires this very moment, and, most importantly, all the people of the world still hoping for, still seeking, still dreaming of a world without HATE, a world without fear, a world without greed.
A world instead focused with Love, a world with Hope, a world with . . .
Peace ~

Oh, the pain of all that love and an attempt to help people you care about ending up hurting those very people, because the only other option was so much worse.
detrimental is a strong word choice
#Hen having to watch Mara settle in with madney#with Jee as her little sister in the house#instead of Denny as her big brother#like I wonder if Karen will handle it better than Hen#because we know Karen compartmentalises the hell out of stuff#meanwhile Hen has all this guilt over the entire Ortiz situation

Chalk Drawings
Happy Lowman & Juice Ortiz & Platonic!Reader Jax Teller & Teller!Sister Reader Opie Winston x Teller!Sister Reader
Day 22 from these April Prompts: Chalk Drawings
Summary: When Happy and Juice are on protection duty and the AC is broken you and the kids take to the outside to escape the sweaty prison that’s Jax’s house as you wait for your brother and partner to come home.
Words: 1.9k
A/N: I’ve been having a rough couple of days so I’m not really sure what this is but, I hope you all enjoy! lol.
Warnings: pretty fluffy (for me and my writing lol), reader has a daughter with Opie (no name given), no use of Y/N, slight angst/tension, alludes to death/murder slightly, nothing that’s not canon-level.
SOA Taglist: @drabbles-mc @justreblogginfics
It was a beautiful summer afternoon, the sun was shining, there were fluffy clouds in the sky that were shaped like cotton candy. The only downside was that the California heat had no mercy and apparently neither did Jax’s air conditioner. It had broken early in the morning and by the afternoon the whole place felt like a sauna. Fans and open windows did nothing against the real feel of 93 degrees and there were only so many popsicles you willingly wanted to give to all the kids. This is what brought you outside on the driveway that had been covered by shade all day so it was luckily not burning hot. You had the full Winston x Teller group today, Kenny, Ellie, Abel, and your 3 year old daughter with Opie. The club was in partial lockdown due to business with the Cartel. Partial lockdown usually just meant no one was left alone, everyone who was someone had protection on them, which meant it was easier for people to stay in groups. Hence why you had all the kids right now. Gemma was out with Tara grocery shopping for the house and had taken Tig with them just to keep a close eye. This left you with Juice and Happy while Jax and Opie went on a run together with a few of the other guys.
The sprinkler was going on the grass, something for the kids to run through if they got too hot, but currently the group of them were on the driveway drawing with chalk. Abel and Kenny had paired up leaving your daughter to rest in between your legs with a piece of chalk in her hands while Ellie sat to your left doing the same. You started doodling with one of the pieces of chalk that was scattered along the driveway to pass the time as well while Happy and Juice leaned against their bikes, keeping watch all of you.
“You wanna get your hands dirty?” You held up the pink piece of chalk and called out to the two bikers.
Juice was quick to smile but deny the request, his way of trying to look tough. You clocked it immediately because just yesterday he was eating a spongebob popsicle off the ice cream truck when he was the only one on your watch detail.
“Yes I do.” Happy said instantly and eagerly as he pushed off his bike. He was quick to grab the chalk from you and begin doodling on the pavement. You thought you’d be shocked at his instant agreement to join you on the ground with the pastel art tools but surprisingly, it was exactly what you expected. Happy knelt on the pavement, one knee touching the ground while the other was being used as an armrest for the arm that wasn’t creating a chalk masterpiece.
“C’mon Juice.” You nodded your head to wave him over.
“Yea, c’mon Juice!” Your daughter called out with a smile.
You smirked at that and so did Juice as he walked over to you both. The little girl in your lap holding out the pink piece of chalk up to the biker.
“Thanks,” His smirk not falling as he grabbed the chalk from the girl.
“S’my favorite color.” She beamed at you and said the color’s name to show how smart she was. “Pink.”
“It’s Juice’s too. You teased and patted to the free space next to you as he shook his head and blushed. “Show me what you got, Juicy.”
He started drawing stick figures, graffiti words, tribal drawings like his tattoos.
“Can you draw me a flower?” Your daughter was quick to crawl out of your lap and sit in front of Juice.
“I can try.” He began to try and draw some version of a flower, although it was looking more like a blob.
“That’s not very good.” She tilted her head and frowned at it.
You called out your daughters name, a warning to be nice although it didn’t do much.
“Why does your hair look like that.” She asked as she drew over Juice’s flower creating her own masterpiece.
Juice practically spit out the sip of water he just took at the girl’s question.
“Why don’t you go see what Abel and Kenny are drawing, huh? Go ask Happy your questions.” You interrupted to give Juice a break. The girl shrugged and skipped her way over to the other group on the driveway. You knew Happy could handle the questions and would give them right back which entertained her.
“Can you teach me how to draw that?” You heard her voice behind you as she stood over Happy’s shoulders.
“I sure can.” He nodded and handed her the yellow piece of chalk before the sounds of the chalk hitting the pavement filled the air.
“Mommy look!” She called out and you turned to see the tons of smiley faces drawn on the ground, some smiling, some crying, some grinning. Your eyes jumped to Happy and back to the drawings a few times. No one came out and told you what Happy’s name meant, but being a Teller you had been around the clubhouse enough to see Happy hit the ring which meant seeing the array of smiley tats across his lower abdomen. It didn’t take a genius to put it together.
You weren’t sure if you wanted to laugh or be mortified, the kids had no idea what it meant but there was a part of you that felt like there was something eerie about it.
“Nice drawings.” Your eyebrows raised at him with a smirk as your nostrils flared.
Happy smiled, oblivious to your sarcasm and nodded.
The sound of motorcycle engines filled the air, but there was no sign of who it was yet. Happy and Juice quick to stand up, Happy picking up your young daughter while you got up as well. He handed the girl to you before walking to the end of the driveway with Juice. As you situated the girl in your arms you began to walk near the garage door and called the rest of the kids over to you. There was a pit in your stomach, you grabbed your nephew and placed him behind you and told Kenny and Ellie to do the same as you guided them as well, using yourself as a human shield to them as you typed in the code to the garage door.
The bikes got closer and as the sound got louder so did your thumping heart. The garage door was taking its sweet time to open, you tried your best to keep your wits about you as to not scare the kids but it was hard when Happy and Juice were reaching for there pieces.
“Let’s play a game!” Your head snapped to the kids as the garage door opened. “Go inside and we’ll play hide-n-seek! Only rule is you MUST stay in the house. You hide and I’ll find you!”
The kids giggled and immediately ran inside the house, your daughter wasn’t eager to leave your arms to play so you kept her in your grip, her head rested on your shoulder which soon dropped in relief as you saw the reaper on the bikes that were approaching. You recognized both bikes, your brother and Opie’s. A breath you didn’t realize you had been holding in let out and you closed your eyes in reassurance.
Happy and Juice fell back quickly too, their relief looking a little different than your own. As both men pulled up to the curb and backed their bikes up, you started to walk down the driveway. Opie walked over to Happy and Juice likely to fill in the crew on what had just happened while Jax walked up to you.
“You look like you just saw a ghost.” His long blond hair blew in the hot heat as his smirk grew.
“I thought I was about to become one.” The only reason you let the joke out was because within the few minutes of your daughter being in your arms she had fallen asleep.
He frowned and picked his hand up to tuck your daughters hair behind her ear.
“I’ve been on edge, heard the bikes.” You shook your head and looked down.
“We figured it all out, we’re fine, you’re safe.” His eyes jumped from yours to the girl in your arms, “all of you.”
Jax’s eyes looked down at the concrete to see the chalk drawings on the ground, clocking the smiley faces immediately and let out a chuckle.
“Really, Hap?” Jax called out to the man who smiled and nodded.
At this point, Opie was walking over, his tall body standing over you in seconds as he placed a kiss on your head.
“Hey, you okay?” His brows furrowed picking up on your tension.
“We spooked her.” Jax teased you as he pinched your elbow.
Opie’s eyes moved back to yours looking for confirmation.
“I’m fine.” You argued and looked up to Opie who smiled knowing that the sibling rivalry was coming through in your short worded sentence.
“Where the kids?” He asked still smiling.
“Inside, I told them we’re playing hide-n-seek if you want to go find them.” You knew both men would pick up on the fact you told them to hide and probably why but before either of them could get to the bottom of why you were so on edge besides the obvious, your daughter was stirring awake.
“Look who's here.” You whispered to her as she sat up in your arms and you turned so she could see her father.
“Hi Daddy.” Her voice was still half asleep.
“Hi baby.” Opie’s arms extended out so he could grab her. “I drew smileys with Happy.” She rested her head against his shoulder in an attempt to go back to sleep. Opie looked down at the pavement and then back to you.
“She also asked Juice about his haircut.” You crossed your arms.
“It looks funny.” She said still at a mumble causing Opie and Jax to laugh.
“I think it does too.” Jax started to walk inside the house. “Ready or not, here I come!” He called out but you knew he was going to grab a drink and a snack from the kitchen before he started to look for the kids.
“I guess next time we’ll keep Hap with us.” Opie teased as you both started to walk inside while the sound of Juice and Happy’s bikes started. You turned to wave goodbye to both of them before looking back at Opie as you made your way into the garage.
“Nah, he might be insane but he’s good with the kids and having him around actually puts me at ease.”
“If this is you at ease, I’d hate to see you tense.” Opie teased you again as the garage door closed.
“Why don’t you and this jelly bean here go look for the kids.” Your arms still crossed as your eyes rolled.
“You wanna go find Abel, Ellie, and Kenny?” Opie bounced up and down to wake up his daughter. “I’ll give you a popsicle if you find them all.” His voice raised as he incentivized the girl who was suddenly wide awake.
“Let’s go!!!” She kicked as he placed her down and she hit the ground running. “C’mon Mom, let’s go!!!” She called out to you.
Opie smirked and threw his arm around you, “yea, let’s go.”

Puff Q&A
As published in The Times (Munster, Indiana) on August 8, 2000:
You asked the questions and we passed them along. Check out what the girls had to say to you. Q: Blossom, why do you always wear a red bow in your hair? Kayla Rosiar, 6, Calumet CH Blossom: Because I'm the leader and it goes wonderfully with my long red hair. Q: Bubbles, why are you a little afraid of bugs? They are harmless. Reyna Ortiz, 9, Hammond Bubbles: Bugs are gross, gross, gross! Except for ladybugs, of course. They're sweet and pretty. Q: Buttercup, what Is your favorite thing about kicking evil butt? Victoria Hanson, 11, Valparaiso Buttercup: Everything. I like kicking and punching and showing those bad guys that bad doesn't get you anything but trouble.
Q: Blossom, is it hard having two sisters that are the same age as you? How do you keep them out of your stuff? Jesslyn Truesdale, 7, Calumet City Blossom: No, it's not hard, since we've been together from the beginning. And since Bubbles and Buttercup have completely different interests, it's not hard to keep them out of my stuff. Buttercup likes stuff like punching bags, Bubbles likes crayons and I like books. Q: Bubbles, why do you think Buttercup is mean to you? Miranda Russell, 13, Valparaiso Bubbles: I think she's jealous because she can't color like me. Buttercup: Yeah, right. Q: Dear Buttercup: Why are you so angry all the time? James Oppolo, 5, Hammond Buttercup: I'm not angry. I'm just tough on crime and criminals. Q: Did you have a mom? I'm asking all of you. Allison Penilla, 9, Schererrille Blossom: Nope. Bubbles: Just the Professor. Buttercup: And he's the best dad anyone could ask for. Q: Why doesn't the mayor have a real name like George? Lauren Rental, 10, Hammond Blossom: It's just easier to call him the Mayor. Then he remembers what his job is. Q: Why don't they show the mayor's secretary's face? Kaitlyn Jagar, 10, Hammond Blossom: Ms. Bellum? Buttercup: We see her face all the time. Bubbles: She's beautiful. Q: Bubbles, can you talk to animals? Elizabeth Lanman, 5, Munster Bubbles: Yes, I can speak squirrel and monster and all other animal languages. Q: Dear Bubbles, I want to know if flying is fun. Selena Castillo, 4, Hammond Bubbles: Flying is the funnest. I get to see all the beautiful colors from way up high! Q: Buttercup, why did you pick green for your outfit? Trisha Madura, 5, Munster Buttercup: 'Cause green is awesome. Much stronger than that pink and blue that Blossom and Bubbles wear. Q: Blossom, what do you do in school? Tiffany Madura, 7, Munster Blossom: I like reading and writing and math. Anything to make my young mind grow. Q: Do you like Britney Spears? Karlie Figiel, 5, Hammond Blossom: I like classical music. Buttercup: I like rock. Bubbles: I like birdies singing. Q: What was your first show about? Kelsie Figiel, 7, Hammond Blossom: Well, there was that battle with Roach Coach. He wanted to take over the world, with his army of roaches. Buttercup: That was so cool! Bubbles: No, it wasn't! It was gross! All those bugs! Yuck! Q: How do the Powerpuff girls stay big and strong? Because they fight Mojo Jojo so much? Ellen Wyand, 4, Crown Point Blossom: We stay big and strong because we are superheroes. Bubbles: Thanks to Chemical X. Buttercup: But beating up Mojo sure doesn't hurt.

== Love Notes ==
Happy Friday Lovelies! I realize this recap is for weds and thursday but I'm gonna roll with it! I hope the rest of the week was kinder to you than the previous parts of the week. Please know we're thinking of you crew, it's okay if you're keeping low on the radar of fandom at the moment. It's also great if you're out honking your nose off! Whatever you're doing is what you need to do, and don't let anyone tell you any different. I know sometimes it seems like things just keep getting worse, lovelies, the world is a chaotic place, and it's okay to sit with your feelings and feel that. Just remember you're loved and it can and will get better one day. There will always be high points and low points in this life, that's just how it goes, but how you cope with those points changes for the better each and every time they pass. Remember you are wonderful, and you are strong, and you're gonna get through whatever you're dealing with, okay? Sending love and hugs, and all the good vibes into your weekend <3
