Taurus Through The Houses: What Things Do You Collect? 💎🎨🛍️
The 2nd house & the archetype of Taurus represents possessions and resources we own. It is the metaphorical storage closet / pantry where we put away and organize our possessions. The house you have Taurus shows the material goods you collect based on the themes of that house.
Taurus 1H: you collect things that make you look or smell good: clothes, perfume, hair products. Having a lot of clothes, makeup, that are limited edition or rare.
Taurus 2H: collecting money, assets, valuable things like art, rare clothing items, rare makeup. When a brand has a limited edition items, you buy them. Likely to have different savings accounts/emergency funds etc. Collecting different forms of currency, having cash, digital currency etc.
Taurus 3H: you collect pieces of media: photographs, magazines, cards, posters, vinyls, etc. This placement reminds me of someone who still has their iPod touch or wire headphones. You collect journals, things you’ve written. You have a lot of pictures in your phone, you have receipts of everything, having screenshots, screen recordings. Collecting stationary. Collecting information. Digital information. Leaving all your old posts up and never deleting them.
Taurus 4H: you collect things that remind you of childhood: books, clothing, posters. You hold on to your items for a long time before letting them go. Collecting home goods: cutlery, dishes, bedding. Having alot of plushies.
Taurus 5H: you collect art, designer items. You collect items that will be valuable in the future. Fond of collecting money and wealth in general. This is someone who enjoys achieving financial milestones: increasing credit score, opening retirement accounts, having investments. Keeping a lot of things from your childhood. If you have kids, you collect their belongings like their first blanket, toys, shoes etc.
Taurus 6H: collecting things that relate to health and healing: tincture’s, oils, rare health foods. If you have pets you collect a lot of things for them: toys, treats, clothes etc. Can collect pets in general.
Taurus 7H: collect stuff you get through relationships. Gifts, money, jewelry, precious items you received. Once you get married, you start collecting things or have the money & space to do so. You collect things on behalf of your partner or you share a collection together.
Taurus 8H: collecting things that were once owned by something else: art, jewelry, clothes. Like how Kim K bought Marilyn Monroe’s dress (Kim is Libra Sun, Taurus is the 8th sign from Libra). You collect things that are taboo or occult, rare occult books or items: crystals, pendulums etc. collecting rare designer items that are vintage. You tend to collect a lot of things and keep them for a long time. Collecting secrets about other people, collecting blackmail.
Taurus 9H: collecting books, magazines, journals. Someone to collect academic titles and degrees. Collecting knowledge and information: through reading, watching documentaries, conversations etc. Prefers “collecting experiences”. Collects things from other countries like souvenirs, flags, spices, perfumes, clothing etc.
Taurus 10H: collecting achievements, accolades, awards. Achieving things then having the physical symbol of it: like the shoes you wore in the first track meet you won, saving medals, trophies, putting them on display.
Taurus 11H: collecting memories from your achievements. Like having your first trophies you won, your cap and gown from graduation. Scrapbooking different memories. Collecting vision boards, Pinterest boards etc. Collecting friends, social connections, followers online.
Taurus 12H: collecting things that are old, ancient or antique. Collecting secrets from other people, collecting their secrets or having blackmail on them. Collecting spiritual tools like tarot cards, crystals, pendulums etc. Collecting spiritual or religious iconography like figurines, posters, statues of different deities.

Just saw a post where someone thought 87 euros was "less than a dollar" and thats like funny haha whatever but also kind of symptomatic of a larger issue. Like i have to know how much a US dollar is and how much a Great British Pound is. You have the luxury of not having to think about the currency of somewhere other than where you live because it dominates the global stage. If i buy something online I'll probably be charged in US dollars and have to account for the conversion and foreign currency charges. This is something that non USAmericans have to be constantly aware of

PLEASE HELP A TRANS PERSON FROM POLAND GET EXPENSIVE SURGERY
hello, my name is irys (or rysiu if you prefer), i'm a trans person from poland, the country that consistently ranks as the worst one for lgbt people in the eu. it's also the only country in the world where as an adult you have to file a civil lawsuit against both of your parents and win in order to get your legal gender marker changed.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/dde37c65564834a3e33d45038e42a887/1afe630830bfc17f-81/s540x810/3ff97759b52263c73755d0fc088790b3959bab5f.jpg)
TL;DR - i'm in a life situation where i cannot get money for top surgery anywhere but through fundraising, while my chest prevents me from passing as well as causes physical discomfort due to its size, and i'm unable to mitigate it though binding due to health issues. being 8 months on HRT i'm in a gender middle ground which in this country and my area specifically, puts me at high risk of violence and harassment, especially in bathrooms and changing rooms. having raised funds for 5 months now, the crowdfunding campaign has been going on for way longer than expected, taking a toll on my mental health.
unfortunately, i have barely managed to raise 1/3rd of the total money i need. since my last e-begging post, i managed to only get 40PLN (<10USD).
currently, i have barely 7 000 PLN (~1730 USD) out of the full amount i need to raise, being 21 000 PLN (~5155 USD) total. that includes the cost of accomodation, wound dressings, medication etc. out of that, 17 700 PLN (~4345 USD) goes towards the surgery itself and one mandatory night at the hospital.
‼️FUNDRAISER:
the site includes a full breakdown of the costs as well as a detailed overview of my situation, not limited to but including 4 years of forced detransition, details of my health issues, and why i can't get money any other way but through fundraising, why i can't bind nor use any alternative methods, and other fun facts about my life. i'm not going to mince words, and i'll say that this situation in itself, outside of the many other stressors i'm under, is making me lowkey not want to live anymore. i really just want to get this over with, after so many years of struggling and humiliation. please.
‼️zrzutka.pl takes secure international payments without fees!!! USamericans, your donations have four times the impact due to currency conversion! if you still don't want to use zrzutka, you can use the blue online payment website to directly send me money instead!

I want to start running...any tips?
I WAS BORN TO ANSWER THIS QUESTION. Thank you so much for asking! Unfortunately, I am a nerd about my hobbies so this got quite long.
Keep it simple ✨
Running is easy to get into; our bodies are built for it. Don’t stress over technicalities and just do what feels natural to you. My local races are full of 70-something white-haired pensioners who are kicking ass at it. Don’t let anyone tell you that running is meant to feel like dying, that’ll harm your knees, or that you absolutely need to have that specific smartwatch model to get into it. All you need is a solid pair of shoes, everything else is optional.
Medium effort is the way to go
The ideal aerobic running pace is a speed at which you’re able to hold a conversation, even if a bit winded. NO faster. If you’re able to sing along to your playlist or chat with a friend, that’s your ideal running pace. If you’re gasping or wheezing, slow down! You’ll get a bit faster as your lung capacity gets better, but that shouldn’t be a priority unless you want to train for a race. You get most of the health benefits of running just by keeping up a steady, sustainable, conversational pace.
Walking breaks are fine, actually
That’s the reason why I don’t love C25K as a beginner program — the way it’s structured sort of implies that walking breaks are something you should grow out of to become a more experienced runner. If you need to walk for a bit, go ahead.
If possible, jogging is preferable, just because the mechanics of even a glacial-pace jog are more similar to running than those of a faster power walk, so you might try switching to a jog after a bit of a walking interval. But walking is not a failure; there are serious marathon training plans out there that use walk/run intervals as a viable strategy.
(Related: picking up speed helps you keep going! If you feel like you are completely drained, try speeding up for a very short interval, then slowing back down. It’ll often give you an energy boost to keep going)
Run for time, not distance ⌚
Especially for beginners, I find that getting fixated on numbers can be counter productive, and the most important thing is to listen to your body. If you’re aiming to hit a certain mileage, you might get the urge to speed up at the end to get done faster. Instead, set yourself time-based goals and end every run with a cool down jog or walk.
SHOES!! 👟
Good running shoes are essential, and pretty much the only fitness-related purchase on which I’ll always support dropping money. If you get to the point where you’re consistently running 10 km (6 miles) each week, you’ll want to go to a running store — the kind of place where you’ll get fitted, and they’ll have you try on models and jog on a treadmill to evaluate your gait and let you know which characteristics your ideal shoe needs. I can’t stress enough how useful running store staff can be. They’re all running club nerds who LOVE getting new people into running, and they really want to help you find your ideal fit. Also get good running socks while you’re at it.
Be prepared to drop at least 100€ (or equivalent currency) but they usually have a great return policy if the model isn’t a good fit for you. Take care of your running shoes — maintenance, wearing them only for running, gentle cleansing etc — and the cushioning will last for quite a while (600km / 370miles at least). If you decide that you hate running, they’re still great for walking around. Once you find your ideal shoe model, it gets a lot easier to shop for it during end-of-season sales, or looking for online bargains etc. I love stocking on end-of-series shoes and rotating them so they’ll last even longer, and I buy online quite often! Just make sure your FIRST pair is fitted, for ideal injury prevention and joint health.
Injury prevention 💪
I’d love to still be running 10k races when I’m 70, but it takes some care to get there. When you run, you’re slamming your body weight up and down with every stride, and that might be hard on your joints if you’re not used to it. If you’re completely new to running, cap your runs at 15/20 minutes every other day. Do that even if you feel like you could keep going! If you have a good aerobic base already, you need to give your joints time to catch up with you lung capacity, and give your body time to recover. Do bodyweight exercises like lunges and planks and glute bridges to strengthen your core, legs, and hips. Dynamic stretches are great for warmups, and static stretches are better for cooling down. If you have the option, running on softer surface like grass or dirt is better than asphalt, which is better than concrete and pavements.
(If nothing of what I’ve said here makes sense to you, shoot me another ask, or look at some of the resources I’ve linked down below!)
Don't get bored! 🎶
I love running in groups. Running clubs are great. You can learn so much in a hands-on way from seriously experienced people, you can chat about gossip over a running job, and you can make some interesting friends. If you don’t have access to a running community, then personally I love just chilling on a run by myself listening to an audiobook or podcast or exploring a certain area.
Running form❓
Don’t stress about it. Just go out and move your body. Attempting to modify your ‘running form’ too quickly can do more harm than good. There ARE a few things you could pay attention to — I recommend trying to focus on one of these at a time for a minute or so, and alternate between them. After a while, it’ll start to feel natural to keep track of all of them:
1. Don’t slouch! But a slight lean forward is great.
2. Keep your shoulders pulled down and your upper back tense.
3. Swinging your arms in a way that helps with your stride is good, but I shouldn’t feel forced.
4. Even breaths, inhaling through your mouth and expiring through your nose.
5. Take turns to check with every part of your body, and relax them in turn: are your jaw and neck too tense? Are your fists tight?
6. Don’t overstride! shorter strides with quicker leg turnover are better than huge strides that feel awkward to you.
7. Use your glutes to drive up the motion of your legs, not just your quads. This can take a while to get used to, but it’s a game-changer.
8. ENGAGE YOUR CORE. This is a great skill to develop whether you work out or are just existing in the world — basically, let your inner abdominal muscles help you carry your weight forward. This is VERY intuitive once you know how to do it, but it’s hard to get a grasp of it if you don’t know what it means, so here are some resources about it.
an extremely fucking comprehensive article that improved my life and eased my big-boobs back pain
similar content but in video form
a running-specific form video
Personally, learning to do this made me feel like I unlocked a superpower. Go forth and brace.
Accessories and tips 🤓
Like I said above, the only thing I really suggest spending money on for real is running shoes. Everything else is details! However, I’m nothing if not wordy I have Thoughts about those details, too.
Run tracking: I suggest downloading Runkeeper if you want to keep track of your runs — it’s free, intuitive, and solid! If you decide to get into wearables, a low-level Garmin >>>>> anything else.
Self-care: use sunscreen and/or thick face cream as needed. Stop to sip at a public fountain if needed. Get a small fanny pack to hold your phone, keys, or lip balm if needed. If chafing is an issue, anti-glide gel is relatively affordable.
Outfits etc: I get all my running gear and clothes from Decathlon — they are in most countries and ship worldwide. I especially love this thermal shirt for colder weather
Safety: if you’re running on the road, make sure to run in the opposite direction from traffic and to wear something bright. If you run with headphones near traffic, keep the volume down, or get over-the-ear conductor headsets. I love shokz, they're fantastic.
Post-run snack: eating something small and carb-heavy within 30 mins of a workout is great for kickstarting recovery. I love dried fruit personally.
Various resources 📝
Routine basics: check out the r/running order of operations, which is a great “how to” guide to building a basic running routine. I also recommend that subreddit's wiki! Running programming gets exponentially more involved the more advanced you get, etc — if you ever have any questions, hit me up!
Dynamic stretching warmup: a quick leg swing workout to get your legs ready to go. If you’re feeling overachieving, here’s a lunge warmup routine and a how-to bodyweight squat video.
Cooldown routine! Check out Strength and Mobility, a great post-run quick cooldown routine that includes some bodyweight exercises to strengthen your hips and core. Video included.
that's all, folks! 🏃♀️
Sorry I got carried away! I love running. I love getting people into running. My mental health, cardiovascular system and my popping quads also love running. But FYI, some people hate running and that's also fine! If you decide it’s not for you, find something you like more. There are a lot of misconceptions out there and a lot of guilt-tripping and body shame-y rhetoric around exercising, especially aimed at women, and I want to make clear it’s all bullshit. Just have fun <3
#Anonymous#ask#jockposting#running#fitblr#exercise tips#running basics#exercise#runblr#long post#for reference I mostly run in brooks ghosts but I use the levitate for speedwork and more intense long runs#I stock whenever there's a sale on runnea or runningwarehouse or whatever#pinned

since paypal is once again a hot topic because of the “”new”” conversion fee:
international paypal users are already familiar with the conversion fee. this isn’t new to anyone outside the USA. we’ve been paying conversion fees on our USD to [insert regional currency] conversions forever now, it ain’t new.
you can correct me if i’m wrong - and i 100% encourage yall to double check yourselves instead of simply taking my word at face value - but the only difference is they’re making the conversion automatic. instead of you yourself manually converting the currency you have in your paypal account, any international currency is automatically converted to your local one the moment you receive it. i didn’t see the fee rates but knowing paypal, they’re probably increasing the conversion fees.
you can opt out of the automatic conversion by going through your payment preferences under the block payments tab - you just have to do so before September 11, 2023.
to the american artists trying to switch to other services for their commissions may I bring to your attention the following: Cashapp, Venmo and Zelle are all exclusive to the United States [with the exception of Cashapp, which does have availability in the UK]
americans won’t be impacted much [if at all] by this if you’re doing USD to USD transactions. if you really want to switch to something else because paypal just sucks all around, maybe consider Square or Stripe.
Square is available in the USA, Canada, Australia, Japan, the UK, Ireland, France and Spain
and Stripe has availability in the following countries
someone mentioned that Wise is also out there. i personally haven’t used wise and i don’t want to just go ahead and blindly recommend it if i haven’t had any firsthand experience with its services, but it does have a large global availability - even some countries that Square and Stripe don’t have.
feel free to add to this, or correct me if i’m wrong anywhere. i want artists online to thrive instead of outright panicking every time paypal so much as twitches

if you genuinely think a fundraiser being based outside of palestine is some sort of “gotcha“, that it “proves” that the fundraisers are “scams”, then you are either really dedicated to keeping yourself ignorant or someone who enjoys lying to fuck over people in need.

is anyone actually claiming that the fundraisers are based in palestine? who is saying that? genuinely who is saying that because i don’t know why this is such a prevalent fucking issue for people.

but hey don’t take it from some random tumblr liberal either. here’s time magazine explaining it
MARCH 25, 2024. Emphasis mine, plain text at the end of the post, under the cut.
“As a result, more Palestinians have increasingly turned to online crowdfunding platforms such as GoFundMe or JustGiving. A GoFundMe spokesperson told TIME that the platform has seen more than 12,000 active fundraisers for Palestinians in Gaza launched since Oct. 7, collectively raising $77 million to date. In addition to evacuation efforts, these campaigns have also been launched to fund access to humanitarian relief such as medical care and food, particularly as funding to formal aid organizations like UNRWA has been cut in various countries.”
[…]
“Because the platform can only be used in 19 countries, however, many of the Gaza-related campaigns are set up in Europe or North America. While some campaigns, such as Tareq's, are led by friends and relatives who live abroad and want to help on the ground, others have been created by activists or as collaborations between charities who rally a well-established network of donors and friends on social media or via public appeals.
In every crowdfunding case, Palestinians will rely on contacts abroad to help set up the campaign and receive donations on their behalf. In return, the platform benefits from the campaigns by charging donors 30 cents per contribution and keeping 2.9% of the total donation. “As fundraising for Gaza increases, we will continue to dedicate more resources to helping people help each other,” the GoFundMe spokesperson told TIME.”
[…]
“Despite the rising popularity of crowdfunding as a means of aid, many campaigns remain underfunded. 24-year-old Noor Hammad was once a nutritionist in Deir al-Balah, but now, she is desperate to escape Gaza after her home was heavily bombarded and she gave birth to her daughter in Rafah in January. “I lost everything in this war,” she said in a WhatsApp message. “I need to leave because I have a baby now, I need money to buy food for her.” To help Hammad, a Sydney-based journalist set up a GoFundMe campaign earlier this month to raise $27,000, which will be sent to Hammad’s brother in Sweden. So far, the fundraiser has raised just $2,580.
Even when campaigns raise enough funds, other challenges in ensuring Gazans can access and receive the money persist, especially as Western governments have introduced sanctions against Hamas. As a result, GoFundMe and other crowdfunding platforms are now required to comply by asking organizers for extensive information about to whom, and where, the money is going. Any individuals or groups who don’t pass a test screening for money laundering or terrorist financing are likely to be put on government-run lists. “
[…]
“The means through which money is transferred to Gazans is also complicated. A few wire services like Western Union are still operating in the besieged territory, but for many, a more viable option is to have the money sent to someone outside Gaza who can withdraw the cash and travel to Egypt. There, the money is paid to brokers who facilitate evacuations.
In February, Tareq and his family raised $20,000 and were finally able to leave for Egypt, where they are currently seeking refuge. But now, the 16-year-old says he needs to find the money to relocate to Canada, where his family can apply for asylum. Above all, the 11th grader—who was months ago participating in international student competitions—hopes to re-enroll in school to complete his education. He plans to make a new GoFundMe campaign in the coming weeks to raise money for the cost of visa applications, flights, and other expenses.
“The GoFundMe really helped with the evacuation and I am full of hope for the future,” he says. “But the circumstances have led Gazans to crowdfund because they lost a lot, and they continue to lose a lot”.”
Is every blog asking for funds legit? Sadly no. Do the people doing the vetting want you to just donate to each and every person who asks nicely? That’s really easy to check actually, surprising i know.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/7630537c30b9a306ed07fd29d53d54cd/c67e1a4ed7e176b2-4c/s540x810/68077cacfcd9d69725eaf8ea725efe6fa6160436.jpg)
ID: @\el-shab-hussein on 30/1-2024: “As a rule of thumb, don't reblog donation posts or people asking for donations unless they've been vetted and reblogged by Palestinian bloggers. We usually go to lengths to verify this shit because we know scammers have been faking to get people to send them money, using the urgency of our genocide as bait.” END ID.
The answer is “no”. Imagine that.
hello. it feels nice and cozy under a readmore doesn’t it? like i’m inviting you into my pillow fort. be careful so you don’t rip down any of my blankets, i’m turning on the fairy lights so i can show you the article i was talking about. yk while we’re down here, i might as well post the whole article, right? i’m sure time doesn’t mind.
Palestinians Have Turned to Crowdfunding Platforms for Survival
MARCH 25, 2024.
In December, Tareq watched his entire life in Gaza get reduced to rubble. “The school I attended since first grade, the street I walked on daily, my neighborhood—they all collapsed into memory,” the 16-year-old tells TIME. With a sinking feeling, he realized that no immediate ceasefire would be brokered in the Israel-Hamas war, and the only way he could escape the horror was by evacuating Gaza. “I never imagined being forced to leave home, but it felt inevitable, like a cruel twist of fate,” he says.
U.N.-backed global monitors have issued warnings that “mass death is now imminent” in the besieged territory with acute food shortages exceeding famine levels. For most Palestinians like Tareq (who asked his last name be withheld for safety purposes), fleeing Gaza is seen as the only way to escape Israel’s bombardment, which has now entered into its fifth month.
But evacuation is not an easy or affordable feat. The only official way to cross the Rafah border, the sole crossing point between Egypt and the occupied territories, is with Israeli approval. The border is currently under an Egyptian-Israeli blockade, and evacuation is permitted only to foreign passport holders or seriously wounded patients.
Under a parallel, informal system, however, Palestinians can pay travel brokers in Egypt to get on a list of people approved for permits to leave. The fees for evacuation are often exorbitant sums ranging from $6,000 to $12,000 per person, and those looking to flee must also navigate scammers and misinformation with no guarantee of success, according to sources who spoke with TIME, as well as recent media reports.
As a result, more Palestinians have increasingly turned to online crowdfunding platforms such as GoFundMe or JustGiving. A GoFundMe spokesperson told TIME that the platform has seen more than 12,000 active fundraisers for Palestinians in Gaza launched since Oct. 7, collectively raising $77 million to date. In addition to evacuation efforts, these campaigns have also been launched to fund access to humanitarian relief such as medical care and food, particularly as funding to formal aid organizations like UNRWA has been cut in various countries.
That is how Tareq—who fled his home in November with his parents and three younger siblings after it was destroyed by Israeli airstrikes—found money for his family’s escape. After taking refuge in a U.N. shelter, he launched an online campaign on GoFundMe in December with a fundraising goal of $25,000—enough money to cover his entire family’s entrance fees to Egypt and temporary living expenses. A family friend in New Orleans helped set up the fundraiser; an aunt in Canada became the recipient for the donations to transfer the money to the family directly.
“Thank you very much for your generosity, solidarity, and kindness, your support is much appreciated and encouraged,” Tareq wrote on his fundraising page. “Your donation will make an essential impact on me and my family to live safely and have a better future.”
Crowdfunding for survival
Over the past two decades, online crowdfunding platforms like GoFundMe and JustGiving have become vital sources for mutual aid and charity efforts to raise funds for everything ranging from medical emergencies and hunger relief to small business loans. In the Ukraine war, they have been essential in co-funding Ukraine’s defense campaign against Russia. “Ukrainians elevated crowdfunding’s significance to match the existential threat they face,” wrote Olga Boichak, a senior lecturer in digital cultures at the University of Sydney.
Because the platform can only be used in 19 countries, however, many of the Gaza-related campaigns are set up in Europe or North America.
“As fundraising for Gaza increases, we will continue to dedicate more resources to helping people help each other,” the GoFundMe spokesperson told TIME.
Just before last Christmas, Mansour Shouman, a Palestinian-Canadian journalist based in Doha, started a crowdfunding campaign with a team to raise $1.2 million for urgent humanitarian needs like food, water, clothing, tents, and hygienic products. The 39-year-old has so far raised just over $1 million in donations toward the goal.
Shouman, who has over 300,000 followers on Instagram, says he began fundraising shortly after making videos about the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. “A lot of people responded by asking how they could help,” he says. “So we started slowly creating a way in which people would donate through different means to support different projects in Gaza.”
Much of the money raised by Shouman’s fundraiser has been sent to local charities in Gaza, like the Palestinian Ethan Society for Community Development, who then purchase mattresses, tents, water, food, and redistribute the funds in the form of cash donations. Shouman says the focus has also shifted from the south to northern Gaza, where the famine has grown worse with each day. “We want to ensure that we can feed the starving population there,” he says.
In early February, a group of U.S.-based activists started a grassroots movement called Operation Olive Branch, or OOB, to help with the overwhelming number of crowdfunding requests from Palestinian families. So far, OOB has assisted close to 800 families to reach their fundraising goals.
“The families behind the fundraisers are experiencing acute starvation, illness, and trauma more extreme than any of us can imagine,” the group told TIME, adding that its role was to “center and amplify families’ direct aid requests by tapping the talents of a large and growing network of social media activists.”
But it adds that while fundraising platforms like GoFundMe have been “key to the autonomy and fundraising success of Gazan families” with the help of the diaspora who can act as beneficiaries to assist their affairs remotely, “having direct access to their donations would make a life-saving difference for these families.”
Challenges persist
Despite the rising popularity of crowdfunding as a means of aid, many campaigns remain underfunded.
These processes have slowed aid efforts, according to a report by The Verge, which found that organizers and donors had been dealing with “heavy-handed moderation” and “inconsistent policies.” In response, GoFundMe issued a notice in March explaining how organizers could get around the extra red tape and avoid any delays, adding that it would comply with laws and regulations to “make the flow of funds from donors to beneficiaries as fast as possible.”
The means through which money is transferred to Gazans is also complicated.
“But the circumstances have led Gazans to crowdfund because they lost a lot, and they continue to lose a lot”.

Ask Compilation: Advice, influences and Misc.
Apologies for taking so long on some of these, admittedly I'm much more likely to entirely forget about asks that are about me and my interests 💃 Thank you for all the questions regardless! And thank you specially to everyone who just drops nice messages into my inbox out of kindness.
I'm brazillian and a native portuguese speaker!
I'll probably return to twitter eventually, but a) I hate that place and b) It didn't make much sense to me to turn it into a BG3 account out of the blue. I am considering making an Instagram or a new twitter just to have more places where people can follow in case they don't care for tumblr, but it's just been a very busy year so far and so that's kind of low on the list of priorities. If I ever do that I'll be sure to announce it here. Have a nice day yourself!
Sorry to hear that! I've gotten a few messages before about this issue, and the problem is that since I am myself not from the US, my options are also limited :( a lot of patreon alternatives don't work for me because they either don't go through paypal, take insane currency conversion fees, or just straight up block me from signing up.
Speak for yourself, I just assume everyone I speak to online has committed some sort of atrocious crime until proven otherwise. Except for me - of course. I have never done anything bad in my life.
I still have a lot to learn! But I will basically use whatever works for me at the moment, as well as make a sincere effort to learn about musculature and anatomy so I can understand those components and how they move, instead of only knowing what they look like when still - that's how you get better at drawing from memory. Volume mostly comes from coloring and understanding light, which is it's own beast but can very much be learned from similar reference materials and observing it IRL!
My favorite places to get reference are medical diagrams, weird pictures I take of myself, 3D software (often Virt-a-mate) and questionably phrased image google searches.
My favorite artists are Jason Shawn Alexander and Sean Murphy, but I'm not sure how much of it reflects in my art nowadays! I generally seek to pick up techniques from artists rather than to emulate style.
Honestly I love that you guys generally do the thing he would hate the most: take him very non-seriously LOL
I've been in a real Chelsea Wolfe and Amyl And The Sniffers kick lately! But usually you'll also find me listening to stuff like Boy Harsher, Swans, FWF, JK Flesh Lingua Ignota, Nick Cave, David Bowie, and so on. Music for the weird gays, basically.
I went insane and wrote a 23-chapter-long-and-still-ongoing fic in like four months. But also - I'm not that good, I'm just shamelessly pretentious LOL
Hm. That's a good question, but I'm not really sure. Sincerely not trying to be a edgier-than-thou here (in fact, this has made me a little self conscious at one time or another) but a lot of art that I don't mean to be horror-y in nature at all has been associated with the genre. So perhaps I don't know what I'm doing either, LOL.
I think just leaning on making things look slightly "wrong" or "ugly" on purpose is the way, but I also find that if you just seek to depict people as they are instead of idealized versions of themselves, you will arrive at that either way.
Thank you for reading! Honestly, I'm guilty of having not read much at all since I was in my late teens, and the style I'm employing for ANE is very different from the things I would call "influential" for me, or even that I used to enjoy reading at all before. I read a lot of Chuck Palahniuk as a youth (and, no slight to people who do like him still, but nowadays I'm not sure why I ever did. His stories don't speak to me at all anymore) as well a lot of weird experimental lit that I didn't even care to remember the name of. My last book stint from one or two years ago was composed solely of historical and medical literature, and last year I got really into Cormac Mcarthy thanks to the internet.
So, all in all, I'm absolutely all over the place LOL if you put a gun to my head and told me to list my favorite books, I'd say The Indifferent Stars Above and Blood Meridian.
(Consider the reading portion of the question to have been answered above) I really really liked Beau is Afraid and think it's a really great "horror" movie. Sue me.

whatever I think a lot of "you should leave comments on fics" posts focus so much on the authors. commenting is good for the author, commenting makes authors happy, etc etc. as a commenter, let me say, this is not without its own benefits.
do you know how many times someone has said to me "this is the most thoughtful comment I've ever received"? do you know how many mutuals and longterm online friends I have from talking to authors about their fics? do you know that any dying questions you have can be answered by the author? sometimes they'll even send you their wips. sometimes they'll brainstorm with you!!
commenting isn't like something solely for the author. it's about making connections and forming the whole community thing everyones always talking about. I know its easy to think of it like a transaction ("fics are free so give your local author a comment") but it's not supposed to be thankless labor on your part either. it's supposed to be a fun thing, getting to talk to fans and such. sometimes you might even think "oh they never responded I guess they didn't notice" and then one day someone will start following you and say "hey I noticed you because you always leave comments".
its not a guaranteeeee that you can have all these interactions, yeah, and that's why it's good to comment about everything you love. it's good practice and the more people you talk to, the more chance they'll talk back.
commenting is fun, I think we need to step back from the currency comparison because it's not a sacrifice, but a conversation. an extension of the fic if you will. have fun with it, man

10 Grelle-based paraphernalia that I found on eBay, in no particular order but my subjective deeming of relevance or importance
Possibly part one of a series? Perhaps?
If so, then I probably won’t contain it to only eBay, and I’m going off of what comes up for someone who’s based in the UK, so maybe there’s more or less stuff available if you’re in other countries due to shipping limitations, etc.? But eBay at the moment is my main source, and I’m only doing this — work that anyone can do, nothing exceptionally thorough or insightful — because I’m just a little bored, and I know Grelle is the most valued in the fandom and TSOGTR hasn’t been writing itself for the past year and a quarter, so why would it start now?
This is written at 3AM-6AM on 29/8/2024, so if this is found long after this date then there’s a chance my sources have already been bought out or deleted for whatever reason.

Grell Sutcliff Funko Pop 18 Kuroshitsuji Black Butler POP! Vinyl Anime Figure
At the time of writing this, there are no bids for this and so the price remains at £21.99 (item and shipping). The current bid is due to end on ≈1/9/2024. Wait for the last second to bid one pence higher than the asking price and you’re golden.
I actually have one of these, but it was gifted to me, and so I don’t know how much mine was sold for, but seeing as the four Black Butler Funko Pops have been vaulted and are sold for way higher in other places online, I think this is a pretty good deal.
(Fun fact, the person who gifted her to me as well as tracked down other cheap listings for the other three called her Greta. Consistently. So. Greta. Greta Sutcliff.)
As we can see from the item’s pictures, the figure has been taken out of its box, at the very least just to be show-cased or inspected, but it does appear to come with the box. Here is a listing on Amazon (9.99 GBP, excluding shipping) for 10 Funko Pop display sleeves that should match the item’s measurements.
The current conversions for this item’s price (18.99 GBP) are as follow:
25.06 USD
36.91 AUD
33.77 CAD
22.52 Euro
2,103.26 INR
855,31 Turkish Lira
39.92 NZD
3,623.33 Yen
Obviously I’m not including every conversion in here, only the most obvious/prevalent. If your country’s currency isn’t here, then my apologies, and feel free to bring it to my attention (with currency named) so that I may add it to any future episodes to this possible series, or to edit this post back with the conversions of that time.

Black Butler PVC Keychain Grell
The description of this listing says that this is officially licensed and from one reverse image search to find a bunch of listings across several websites for it, I’m inclined to believe that this is actually an official piece of merch and not a fan-made item that is being resold as I had originally thought it to be. (Wow, I’m such a knowledgable Black Butler fan. I know, I know.)
There’s not much to say on this other than the fact that it’s cute and I think a few pence has been shaved off from the original selling price, though I’m not too sure. I imagine it would have easily gone for 8.99 GBP, but again I’m not too sure; it’s 3AM after all and this isn’t a serious project for me.
The current conversions go as followed:
11.87 USD
17.47 AUD
15.99 CAD
10.66 Euro
996.15 INR
405,49 Turkish Lira
18.90 NZD

Grelle Black Butler manga plushie Anime Soft Toy
It’s not the best price, I admit. If you’re looking for something cheaper then maybe go for the 5" plush, and there’s another listing on AnimeWare, but once tax and shipping get evolved it ends up being more or less the same price, anyway.
I think this is under the same line as Plushlois comes from, and to that I say: if someone buys her, will that come back? Will Grelle’s face be remade by @fancymeatcomputers, as @nullbutler’s Plushlois once had?
Anyway, she’s super cute. Her hair is a bit too saturated, but that’s not much to lament over, and she’s pricey, but is still far less expensive than any available Plushlois listing I could find (£52!! Usually!!).
Here are the current conversions:
39.61 USD
58.30 AUD
53.35 CAD
35.58 Euro
3,323.16 INR

Black Butler Kuroshitsuji Grell Undertaker Anime two sided Pillow Case Cover 250
I’d originally listed another pillow for listing number four, which goes for the same price, but decided not to as Grelle is more prominent on this one.
Not much to say about this other than as far as I can tell it’s just the pillowcase and not a case and a pillow, but if you want to add a lil extra something to your Grelle shrine or limit your chances of finding a normie partner by having this as the centrepiece to your 20-something pillow statement on your romantic four-post bed.
Here are the current conversions:
7.91 USD

Black butler Grell Sutcliffe figure Kuroshitsuji SEGA PVC Scale Anime s01
Another shambolic price, I know. But out of all the non-Funko Pop Grelle figures listed, this is definitely the cheapest.
Out of all of the non-Funko Pop Black Butler figures, it’s far from it. I think the cheapest figures went to Ciel and Sebastian, but with a massive gap between the cheapest Ciel figure versus the cheapest Sebastian figure (there’s a lot of listings for this particular figure, all with free shipping and of similar prices). There’s also a listing that sells Sebastian and Grelle together with free postage, which would value each figure as far less than what this one figure is being sold for.
The current conversions (of 130.22 GBP) go as follows:
172.00 USD
252.73 AUD
231.50 CAD
154.48 Euro

Black Butler Grell Sutcliff Cosplay Costume Red Death Men Full Set Outfits New
I’m not much of cosplayer or a cosplay fan, but from the few full cosplays I found that range from £40-50, this seems like a good price.
There’s also a good few listings for Grelle-style shoes? The cheapest of which would be here. And both the shoes and the clothing come in men’s sizes, so it’s a match if you ask me.
The current conversions of the cosplay’s price are:

Kuroshitsuji Black Butler Madam Red Angelina Dalles Anime Figurine - Play Arts
Look. I know this isn’t a Grelle figure, but I assume that most if not all Grelle fans are also Madame Red fans. And you have to admit that this is a damn good price for a figure of this type. In fact, I’d say this figure is the second cheapest, right behind the aforementioned Ciel figure.
Also the seller has the username “welsh lady”. Surely it’d basically be treason if I didn’t promote it.
The conversions of the item price (6.99 GBP) go as follows:

USED Dolk Black Butler Book of Circus Grell Sutcliff Cast Doll 700mm Japan RARE
This is a fucking awful price. It hurts just to imagine buying this. However, it seems like a rare or custom-made doll, in a fancy box, and it was the only listing I could find of it, meaning it’s not a re-sell.
There’s not much to say — as you can see I ranked it pretty low on the relevancy scale, but I don’t know: maybe someone’s into this sort of thing, especially if it comes to Grelle.
The item prices are converted as follows:
2,805.52 USD

1 x playing card Black Butler Anime Sebastian Michaelis - Jack of Hearts ZT 85
For one playing card, to me this price seems ghastly. There’s also a Sebastian variant for the exact same price, but that’s all I can find in this style. The other listings for Black Butler playing cards aren’t in this style, coming wholly in colour with patterned frames. As far as I can see, on eBay there are only two listings for this type of playing card, and I’ve already linked them both to this post.
The current conversions of the item price (2.49 GBP) are:

Black Butler Ceramic Mug Grell, Sebastian
There’s a more expensive mug with just Grelle on it that I’d contemplated listing here instead. (And, hey! From Germany, too. The TSOGTR imagery just won’t quit.) But this one is cheaper.
Besides, enough scrubbing with some iron wool will get rid of that ugly demon mug (no pun intended) in no time, surely!

Terribly terminally online thing, but... AITA for continuing to commission an artist even though we have different opinions on shipping discourse?
Not saying ages, but we are all in our early 20. I'll also not specify which side we are in.
To start, I am not from the USA, and the currency in my country is extremely devalued, so besides I don't have actual dollars (or euros or any other type of currency) on my account, commissioning other artists in a different currency than mine is not an option, because what could be considered fair-priced or even cheap for them could, in turn, cost me an arm and a liver when I do the conversion. A few years ago I found this one artist on Twitter that also lives in my country and charges on my currency, and he does extremely cute art, so I commissioned him on 2021 art of two OCs of mine who are dating.
Since I did very well economically the month of August of this year, I commissioned him again, a rather big commission because I could allow myself to pay for it. While I received that commission already, I still have another pending one, lighter than the first. He hasn't started yet, and I haven't paid yet, I'm sort of on the waiting list.
The problem(?) starts that I was scrolling on Twitter (thing I don't normally do because I barely use it), and I saw a thing he tweeted saying "Nah, better dead than a [anti/proshipper]". It was a bit upsetting as a [anti/proshipper], but didn't thought much besides complaining to someone (not a big complain either, just an "aw man, turns out [artist] is a [proshipper/anti] 😢"). Then that person tells me I shouldn't really commission him anymore because otherwise I'm acting like a hypocrite and just furthering the harm that side does by continuing to support him monetarily. And I'm kinda, huh, I'm not sure that's how it works?? It's not like [artist] is specially deranged, he's pretty calm. But now I'm feeling guilty because I don't want to be a hypocrite?? So... I don't know if I'm in the wrong here? Am I the asshole here for commissioning someone from a different side than mine on this particular discourse, or I'm fine?
What are these acronyms?

Don't trust blindly: A cautionary tale for creatives in the FFXIV venue scene.
So, I am a graphic designer by trade and do design for several player-run roleplaying venues. I design anything from logos to infographics to posters.
Early this year, I was asked through a trusted friend (whose venue I did all the design work for) to design some infographics and staff cards for one of the biggest EU venues.
Being fairly starstruck and perhaps a bit naive, I agreed to do the work without agreeing to a payment first. They were a huge, well-known venue and friends of a friend after all, right? What could go wrong?
Now, months after having designed their staff cards, promotional material, an infographic for a roulette minigame and the staff banners for a discord bot, I have yet to see any pay -or even mention of pay- for my work.
I figured, at this point, it's fair of me to ask, right? I politely ask if they have any intention of continuing the staff card project and if they have thought of payment for my projects.
They take a while to discuss, and eventually come back with an answer: they will not be continuing the project, but will pay me a whopping THREE million gil for my work so far. For perspective: I get paid up to 5 million gil for a single poster regularly. This was several designs spanning hours and hours of work.
At this point I realize they never actually had any intention of paying me for my work. Since all of this is, fortunately, about an in-game currency rather than real life money, I did not feel like dragging this out and decided to compromise: 5 million gil, and I'd be out of their hair.
They agreed, but I have yet to hear anything about the actual payment happening. It has been over a month since this conversation took place.
The kicker? One of their owners has been doing their own promotional posters and has copied my designs to the font on at least two occasions (that I know of). They have a habit of... Uhh... Let's call it 'borrowing' others' ideas. Both in their venue and in their online presence. I won't go into too much detail about this, since I have no interest in outing them. But rest assured this a pattern of behavior, rather than an isolated incident.
This is a warning, from me to you, whoever you are: don't assume that people will not use you and your talents, simply because they are big names in your community or because they are friends-of-friends. Agree to payment amounts clearly and in writing, in advance.
Tldr; big EU venue scene people had no intention of ever paying me for graphic design I did for them, when asked months later agreed to a fraction of my normal wage and copied my graphic design. They have not yet paid me as of writing this post.

4 MINUTES – COUNTING DOWN
We're now just shy of the mid-point in 4 Minutes (three eps down with five more to go) and I've been avidly watching, but getting quite confused at the same time by all the twists and turns.
Part of that confusion stems from not being able to watch the "Sultrier" version at first, despite getting Viu Premium. (How do they come up with these euphemisms though? Remembering that KinnPorsche also had a "La Forte" incarnation. 🤣) The sanitized 4 Minutes was annoying, not just because the sexy bits were cut out, but also because we missed important, informative parts of the narrative.
For example, Korn and Ton Kla's Ep.1 sex scene was actually an in-your-face illumination of their relationship dynamics, and also a parallel with Win and Ton Kla's own Ep.3 turn in the sheets later, that revealed so much about their characters in the vein of show-don't-tell.
Ep.2's tryst between Korn and Fasai was also missing, as was (inexplicably) the conversation between Korn and a smoking Great in Ep.1. I can only presume it was Great's cigarettes that caused that scene to be snipped, because other scenes also had alcohol and ciggies all blurred out. Highly annoying, but anyway – I finally found out what was going on with Viu Premium, so if anyone else is having trouble finding Sultrier, I will share some tips in a different post.
And with that out of the way, I finally got to watching the unbutchered 4 Minutes – and I'm finding it smart, sexy and oh-so stylish in the mold that we've come to expect from Be On Cloud. Sumptuous cinematography and visuals are now quite a BoC hallmark, that started with KinnPorsche and continued in Man Suang – and 4 Minutes so far has been a delight to take in, a cinematic and super-twisty supernatural thriller overflowing with signs, symbols and scenes (possibly) pregnant with hidden meaning, so much so that the fandom is all a-flutter, me included.
Directing (and editing) has been taut, and I think Director Ning Bhanbhassa Dhubthien does much better when given free rein (unsaddled by screenwriting duties, and P'Pond maybe! 🤣) My take is colored by Man Suang – its huge potential for intellectual engagement (all that historical drama and political intrigue!) was unfortunately not developed to a satisfying extent; its most potent elements were given insufficient screentime, watering down what could have been a truly juicy experience for the viewer. Perhaps it might have done better as a mini-series with a longer timeframe for the developments to unfold, but that's a remake for another day perhaps.
Anyway, back to 4 Minutes. They've been really stoking the furnace with clues to the truth underlying the narrative, and fan theories abound as to what it all might mean while we breathlessly await revelation.
So I can only guess at some of the stuff, and nod at some of the visuals. But here's some of what I've picked up on.
The title 4 Minutes (especially with so many references in Ep.1 to cardiac arrest) is quite likely a nod at the widespread belief that when the heart stops beating, you only have four minutes to start resuscitation before the process of brain death begins to set in. (I'm seeing a lot of different opinions about this online, with some sources insisting the window of time is much longer. But there are enough mentions of the four-minute deadline in more than a few Thai sources that I think this is probably the intended significance, especially since screenwriter Sammon is also a medical doctor who would know of this notion's currency in popular culture. Here's an example in Thai media: CPR กู้ชีวิต ก่อนสมองตายใน 4 นาที/CPR saves life before brain death in 4 minutes.)
After the four minutes are up, it is too late to save the stricken patient – so there is a sense of urgency underlying the notion. (For another work that plays on this, see Madonna's song 4 Minutes where the urgency being messaged is about saving the planet instead.)
But with cardiac arrest, the premise is that even when corporeal death is signaled (cessation of the heartbeat being the traditional marker of this), a person's life-force still has that small window of time for human intervention to make a difference, a sort of ultimate last chance beyond the final frontier, if you will.
This aligns somewhat with what we're seeing of Great's do-overs, each time he is thrust back four minutes into the past. But I think there's also a bit more to it, based on what we're seeing in Episode 3.
Among all the fan theories online, this one by @myezblog caught my eye: Theory - plot is pretty much revealed.
Now, whenever Great is alone, we see that his clocks reset (and Great is aware of this too, by Ep.3). In Ep.1, his clock showed 11:00am (at timestamp 05:00, after his call with Title). And in Episode 2 we were shown Great's clock turning to 11:01 at timestamp 35:06, and in Episode 3 it went to 11:02 (timestamp 41:37).
But the ominous 11 o'clock actually put in an appearance even before these instances. Looking back, at the start of Episode 1 we were shown that the patient in the Emergency Department Resus bay basically flatlined at 11:00 – that was their time of death.
If it's really Great whose heart stopped on that Resus trolley in Ep.1, what we appear to be seeing is a flashback of events playing in his head, leading up to the time of his cardiac arrest (11:00).
And what his clocks are showing him (and us) whenever he's alone during that flashback is basically a countdown of the four minutes that he has, before he is brought back (hopefully) or is gone forever (I hope not – it wouldn't be much of a series then!).
So in the coming episodes, we should be watching for Great's clocks to tick up to the 11:04 mark – that is likely the time horizon when Great is jolted back to the present, hopefully having learnt some lessons reviewing his past that will be key to solving his conundrums in the present and the future.
