“Hey!”
The little ball of paper that you had crinkled up bounced off Jisung’s arm with a soft pat.
“What happened to studying together? You said that you were gonna quiz me.”
Jisung’s eyes popped up from his phone screen looking a little bewildered. “Sorry, I just...got a little distracted.
“Distracted? Looking at what?”
“Oh, nothing.” He placed his phone down, clicking it off.
“Is “nothing” code for some girl’s Instagram?” You dished him out a teasing smirk. “I think you forget that I know you better than you know yourself sometimes.”
Jisung shuffled the papers in front of him pretending like he had something to do. “Psh. I was not.”
“--Does she go to school here?”
“I told you, I said no.” He furrowed his brow trying to look as serious as possible, but that was nearly impossible for someone as naturally adorable as him. “Why are you drilling me? Aren’t you supposed to be doing some work right now?”
“~So are you~” You teasingly sang back to him, giving him a kick under the table just for good measure.
Jisung threw your balled up paper ball back to you. “Let’s just get back to what we were doing so we can leave. I don’t wanna end up like him.”
He nodded over to the end of your table where a student had fallen asleep mid-chapter. His nose twitched and he snorted a little bit. You knew exactly what Jisung meant, you didn’t want to be at the library at 11pm on a Tuesday either; it was your better judgement that told you.
“Can we get food after this?” Jisung asked after approximately five minutes of “working.”
“Sounds good to me.” You quipped, barely allowing your eyes to leave your computer screen. You found that you always had to try you best to let him not distract you. He was really good at that.
You slid a stack of index cards in front of him. “Ask me these? I’m having a hard time getting the Latin names down...if you’re not busy?”
“Nope!” He piped, and shoved his notebook away.
“Okay!” He said with determination and a little bounce. He fixed his oversized hoodie before starting, looking adorably lost in the fabric.
He asked you the first question, but it barely met your ears. There you were, getting distracted by him again.
screw you Han Jisung, you thought to yourself.

“I just don’t understand how you make sense of all that crap, I could never be a science major like you are.”
“--And I could never understand production like you do.”
“And this is why we work.” Jisung grinned with smiling eyes while he opened the library door for you. “I’m starving, I can’t stop thinking about--”
“--Y/n??” A voice called from behind the two of you.
The two of you whipped your heads back to see a loveable looking blonde and freckled boy bounding to catch up with you. It was Felix, your lab partner from zoology. The two of you were nothing more than classroom friends, but his friendly kindness was always something that brightened up your terrible 9 am lab.
“Felix!” You beamed, holding the door so it wouldn’t close on him. “Are you here studying for the exam as well?”
“Oh yeah, I just...my brain couldn’t take it any more,” He sarcastically mimed his head pains, “I just need to get some sleep now.”
“I just don’t get how they expect us to know all of those phyla like its nothing.”
“I know right?’ He chuckled.
Next to you, Jisung silently poked at the elevator button to go down.
“Is it alright if I head down with you guys?”
“Of course!” You motioned him in.
Once the doors had closed, the three of you found a different corner of the small box to plant yourselves in.
“shit-sorry, Felix, I didn’t introduce you, this is Jisung.”
“Hi!” Felix shone, and Jisung gave him a curt nod back.
Felix waved to two of you goodbye, leaving you in the nighttime snow. You noticed that as Felix walked away he had a little bounce to his step; and you couldn’t help but crack a little smile.
“Our usual?” Jisung asked you with a little edge to his voice.
You linked your arm around his, letting out a little shrill sound when the fabric of your two coat sleeves met. “Sounds good to me!” You nuzzled up into him while both of your bodies’ heat intermingled.
The two of you walked on under the streetlights which illuminated the falling flakes in streams of light. You never loosened your grip, as had become your habit lately when the two of you walked around. Jisung never seemed to mind; the two of you had been mistaken for a couple more than enough times thanks to it. When it did happen, it didn’t phase you at all. Being close to Jisung was like second nature to you.
The whole walk over Jisung never uttered a word, which was uncharacteristic of his usual boisterous self.
“Is everything okay?”
He sniffled, “Yeah, I think I just got kinda tired out of nowhere.”
“Ah.” You mouthed, and squeezed his arm a little harder.
After a moment’s silence, he somberly announced, “If you’re in the same class as him, maybe you should study with him.”
“Huh.” You tsked. “Yeah, I mean I never thought about that before...I guess that could do me some good.”
You looked slightly up to him: a product of him being slightly taller than you. His brown eyes remained stoic, and you couldn’t figure out why. You hated it when he wouldn’t tell you what was wrong, but he was also stubborn at letting up.
“But thank you for helping me tonight! You know that I reeealy appreciate it.” You turned your tone as cutesy as you could--Jisung hated it, but you knew that it could bring a smile to his face.
His gaze softened a bit. “Anytime. You’d do the same for me.”
☆。*。☆。
Jisung rested his head on your shoulder on the bus ride home with his phone weakly held in his hand. One more bump in the road and you knew that it would go flying so you carefully took it into your own lap where it would be safe. You wouldn’t dare moving an inch because you had a feeling that he had closed his eyes. Time had slipped past 1am, and you had to keep fighting yawns yourself. The bus driver had been blasting the heat, so it wasn’t hard at all for you to feel cozy.
You glanced down at his open hand in his lap. It looked exactly like he was beckoning for you to scoop it up in your own. You wondered what what happen if you did. What would he think of it? Would he think anything of it? You had held hands before, but every time you had it had been under purely platonic pretenses. If you just grabbed it now, what would the pretenses be then? The two of you cozied up on a bus: that was something that couples did.
You shut your eyes closed tightly and tried your best to banish all the thoughts clouding your head.
Jisung’s hand twitched, looking even more inviting.
screw you Han Jisung.
☆。*。☆。
[7:14pm]
jisung: you want to come over? Changbin is cooking and i don’t wanna eat whatever he’s making alone
[7:31pm]
me: sorry, I’m studying with Felix at the library, I think that we are gonna be here late. It’s all the Latin, I’m drowning in the Latin, Sung.
I’m sorry.
see you Friday once I’m out of this hell?
[7:34pm]
jisung: see you friday.
☆。*。☆。
You pounded on the door to Jisung’s apartment with your phone in hand, the white screen showing you the number that you had worked so hard for.
“Open the door!” You called giddily. “Jisung! I know that you’re in here, we need to celebrate! ~I can treat youuu~”
Just as you were about to knock again, the door swung open, revealing a wet haired Jisung in his grey sweats and tee. His brown strands of hair were scattered around his head while he rubbed at them with a towel.
“Shit! Can’t I shower?” He jested.
It took all your will power not to ogle him more. He looked devastatingly handsome, but you swallowed down how utterly flustered he had made you.
You cleared your throat, “Uh...sorry...” then remembered your phone in your hand. “I got a 96! Can you believe it! I’m even surprised too, when I was taking the test I just got so nervous...”
“All that studying paid off huh?” He cockily rose an eyebrow. “You can go ahead and thank me now, without my help...” He shrugged with a grin.
You invited yourself in and threw your bag down at the door like you usually did.
“Thank youuu” You sung. “Oh! And studying with Felix really paid off too.” You took off your shoes, thinking of how nice it had been to finally study with someone who knew your class topics. Not that Jisung wasn’t helpful, but you and Felix were on the same page. “He knew it all way more than I did, so he was super helpful. I forgot to text him--”
Jisung closed the door behind you with a slam that made you jump. He moved away from you, not meeting your eyes. The air around the two of you suddenly became thick with something that did not feel as excited as you just were.
“...do you wanna maybe watch a movie?” You moved closer. “Or we could get some deliv--”
“--Why even bother coming over here?” Jisung suddenly huffed.
“What?”
Jisung’s words flew out of his mouth sharply, “If he was so helpful? What are you doing here, huh?”
“Jisung, I don’t understand...” Your heartbeat quickened in your chest and you felt anxiety swell there as well. Jisung never spoke to you like this. He never sounded like this.
He growled out a little sound in frustration. “I-I just...can’t believe you--”
“--Me? Jisung, what did I do?” You threw your arms up, genuinely confused.
He ran his fingertips over his temples and let out a deep exhale. “Y/n, don’t pretend like you don’t know what you’re doing.”
Your temper started to become seething and you felt your ears get hot. “Tell me Jisung. Tell me what I did. And while you’re at it, what has been up with you these past few days? Being short with me, and distant, yeah-I’ve noticed...what are you doing??”
Jisung heaved breaths in and out of his chest, then ran a hand through his hair. He still couldn’t meet your eyes.
For a moment, a flash of panic surged in your head, making your heart ache with an unexpected pain. You truly didn’t know what he had meant, and if you had made a mistake, you knew it could mean loosing him. God, that was the last thing in the world you wanted. It always was.
“If I did something wrong tell me because clearly I don’t know!!” You yelled back at him, straining your throat.
He walked up to you, then grabbed your shoulders with a firm grip. Finally, you saw his eyes, brown and soft, holding a type of pain that you hadn’t seen in him before.
screw you, Han Jisung.
“Jisung, I--”
You were shoved by the shoulders in milliseconds to the door behind you, the impact nearly knocking the wind out of you. You gasped in your surprise, but your mouth was immediately shut by Jisung ramming his lips into yours. His hands needily took your face into his palms with his mouth blazing with hunger for you.
It took you a moment to realize what had just happened and steady yourself after being so startled. His lips were so soft and warm, your brain had a hard time recognizing that he was really doing this. His haste made no indication of stopping so you let yourself do what you had wanted to do for years: you kissed him back with everything that you had.
As soon as you did so, he let out little desperate moans between your lips in response. You let your arms wrap around his back and he fell into them just right. Naturally you took one of your hands to the back of his head and tangled up your fingers in his hair. God, it all felt so good. Jisung snaked his arms around your waist and pulled you into him with force, crashing your hips together.
The two of you clumsily made your way to the couch where he threw you down and crawled over top of you just as fast. He moved to your neck then traversed around your skin, sending shivers all through your body. Your hands eagerly found his back where you dug into him, wanting to be impossibly close. To your side, he carefully took your hand in his, weaving all of your fingers together.
Jisung pressed down into you and began to suck at your neck without holding himself back. It was such an intense feeling that couldn’t help but moan out something you didn’t know you could. You felt his mouth turn into a grin on your skin while he continued. It stung a little when he removed his lips, but he gently kissed each mark as if he was soothing it once he was done. He stopped to admire the little array of purple bruises he had made.
“I want you all to myself.”  Jisung’s voice was hoarse, but still honey-covered in desire.
“What are we doing?” You asked him in breathless disbelief.
“I’ve wanted to do this for so long.” He whispered, and appeared to calm his breaths. “I don’t care.”
"You don’t?”
“Why should I?” He cocked his head and used his free hand to caress your face.
“--That this could change things between us?”
“You don’t want it too?” He looked a little confused.
You felt a warmth rush to your cheeks.  “--No! I do, I do...trust me.”
“Then can I kiss you some more?” Jisung grinned down at you as loving as he always had, but this time it meant something slightly different.
“...please.”
He lowered back onto you, connecting your lips once more. Jisung’s tongue languidly smoothed onto yours and you already felt intoxicated by the feeling. You tightened your fingers around his.
I’ve always been yours.

Chapter seven
“Alrighty give mommy kissy.” You squatted down. Both of your kids tackled you in a hug and they kissed your cheeks. You kissed them back and pulled away. You watched as they walked to the bus.
Even though they’re homeschool, they offered a program where your kids can still go to class in person once a week so they can socialize and it won’t affect their mental health. After talking to another mother who put her kids in the same program, she recommended it and you decided that it was best.
Your kids already socialized in their volleyball practice but it wouldn’t hurt for them to talk more with other kids.
You saw as Rini helped his sister up the bus first and blocked the back of her skirt from showing her shorts underneath and you lowkey wanted to cry because he was such a gentleman. He then got in and they sat together on the right side of the bus and they waved you goodbye. You waved back and the bus began to leave.
You sighed and turned back home. You washed this morning’s dirty dishes and cleaned a bit around. After you were satisfied with the presentation of your house, you made your way to your small studio office and began answering more emails and writing topics for the new podcast episode you and Jamie had to record.
You took another sip of your barley warm tea and finally you heard the doorbell ring. You glanced at the time on your watch and realized it wasn’t 12 yet, it was probably Jamie.
You carried your laptop and placed it on the dining table and ran to the door. “I’m coming!” You yelled as Jamie rang the bell again. You opened the door revealing your two best friends and you were shocked to see Hana. She’s your best friend from highschool, the one who blocked the boy’s numbers and let you spend the night when you got kicked out.
She was also the one who was rooting for you and Suna but she was more than furious when she found out what happened. You called her on New Years and started balling your eyes out.
You told her to never date boys cause they sucked but little did you know she had a big crush on you. You were her first love.
I guess you don’t know what you have until it’s gone. So when Rin started to take your attention, she felt jealousy and loneliness but your happiness mattered more than her selfishness.
She became a fashion major in University but dropped out because she didn’t like what they were teaching. With the bit she learned and already knew, she turned into art. She made beautiful leather pieces of lingerie with straps and belts and lace and the models needed dramatic makeup and hair. And you happened to know an amazing makeup artist.
That’s where Jamie came in.
And eventually they fell in love.
Hana is always busy with her lingerie company since everything is hand crafted and not made in a factory like Jamie’s makeup products. So that’s why it was a shock to see her here during the day at least. “Come in come in. Mi casa es su casa.” You said in broken Spanish and they laughed.
Jamie sat on the dining table and sighed. She rubbed her baby bump and you asked if she wanted something to drink. You got her water as well as some wine for Hana. “So they’re really coming over?” Hana asked as she opened Jamie’s laptop and set it up for her wife.
“Yeah I hope so. If they flake I’m not gonna give him another chance. I already told the kids he’ll be here and they’re excited.” You said and she nodded. “Good.” Hana replied. You and Jamie began reading eachothers notes and topics regarding the podcast. “I think Hana is gonna have to take my place on the podcast if I pop.” Jamie mentioned randomly.
“Hell no.” Hana immediately said. “That’s a you two thing I’m not getting into it.” Hana said sternly. “But Hana, since Jamie got pregnant. You didn’t have a face for your spicy lingerie line. So I temporarily replaced her. Surely you could do the same!” You exclaimed and she rolled her eyes. “Speaking of lingerie I have something I want you to try for the next photoshoot. I’ll go get it after my smoke.” She said and you rolled your eyes with a nod.
“It’s pretty hot, like a harness thing on your wrist that connects to your thighs.” Jamie spoke up as Hana left. “Where does Hana come up with these things?” You asked and Jamie made a smirky face. “Nevermind I don’t wanna hear about your guy’s sex life.” You shuttered and she snickered.
Hana got out your front door, walked to her fancy Mercedes and took out the gift wrapped box as well as her favorite pack of smokes. She sat on the small bench in the front of your house and she lit the lighter, breathing in the nicotine. She sighed and wondered if you’re going to be okay with your ex seeing his kids.
If it was her she would refuse to let him see them and take it to court. But you weren’t like that. You always had hope and patience that you’d meet Suna again someway somehow.
She heard a car door slam and looked up to see the three tall figures get out of a car. She exhaled the smoke and they looked up to see her. “It’s been a long time, huh?” She tilted her head to the side and Suna scratched the back of his neck as he neared. “Hana I—I’m sorry for everything.” He said. “I trusted you with my best friend and you hurt her. I don’t think I could ever forgive you for hurting my first love like that.” She spoke bitterly and put out the cigarette in the small froggy bowl turned ashtray that the twins made.
“First love?” Osamu asked and Hana stayed quiet and motioned for them to follow her. Suna didn’t know what to say, after you left Hyogo Suna began bugging her for answers and she went off on him once and that’s when he realized that Hana was gay and in love with you the whole time.
Immediately when the door opened they heard yelling and singing. Obviously confused the boys looked at eachother but Hana seemed unfazed, she’s used to her wife’s chaotic nature and even though you’re pretty quiet and collected you make a complete 360 with Jamie around. You were both like Yin and Yang.
“Shh she’s been trying to get this song down for weeks.” Hana whispered as the boys followed through the small hall. They looked at the photos that adorned the wall and they saw baby photos of Suna’s kids and they truly looked like him. From the corner of his eye, Suna saw a photo of you with Shawn Mendes and smiled that you finally had a chance to meet your celebrity crush.
Suna nor the twins didn’t know what to expect when they saw you again. But they were shocked to see you in your true nature with studio headphones over your ears as you sang each note higher and higher. Jamie was yelling and slamming the table with her palm encouraging you to keep on going. Jamie used to do that in parties, drinking games were her favorite.
You finally finished the song and you took off your headphones and started screaming. “SIX WEEKS IT TOOK ME SIX FUCKING WEEKS TO COPY IT TO A T! I DID IT OH MY GOD!” You yelled and Jamie yelled again too. “BITCH I TOLD YOU YOU COULD DO IT BUT YOU-“
“SELF-“ punch
“DOUBT-“ punch
“ALL-“ punch
“THE-“ punch
“TIME!” punch
“Alright alright I get it goddamn—if you weren’t pregnant you know I would punch you just as hard.” You scowled as you rubbed your arm. “Sorry y/n.” She apologized and chuckled. “We’re not interrupting right?” Hana spoke up causing you and Jamie to turn. The three men stood behind her and your face fell. The air shifted and you suddenly felt cold.
“No just work stuff.” You said and you quickly stood up. “Welcome to my home. You’re welcome to sit at the table.” You said and closed your laptop. “Would you like anything to drink..?” You asked, trying to be hospitable and Hana scoffed. “Give them water, you don’t have to be nice to them.” Hana said and she sat by Jamie. You bit the inside of your cheek and looked at the three men. “Water is fine..” Suna spoke up and the twins nodded.
“Sit.” Jamie said and motioned to the dining chairs. They all sat awkwardly while waiting for you to come back from the kitchen. You had your tray with their water, more tea for you and Jamie, and a glass of wine for Hana.
“Alright where do we start..” you said as you sat down next to Suna since that was the only empty spot. “The beginning.” Jamie shrugged. “I already explained what happened. I told her everything.” Jamie told the boys and immediately Atsumu scowled. “Knowing you you probably made yourself sound less bad.” He muttered, immediately Hana was about to say something but you interrupted. “Did you make the bet?” You asked the blonde, “Y..Yeah..” he frowned and shifted in the seat awkwardly, “Did you accept the bet?” You turned to Suna. “Yes..” he said guiltily. “Did you think Suna would win?” You asked Osamu. “Yeah.” “Jamie Did you think pissy— I mean Atsumu would win?” You asked her and she sighed a yes. “And did you all bet with money?” You asked. They all replied with yeahs and yes’s.
“Did you guys agree to quit because it was wrong?” You asked and they all nodded. “Then that’s all that happened. I don’t need to know anything else.” You explained.
“Look guys.” Jamie spoke up and she tapped her manicured fingers on the table nervously. “It took a long ass time for Y/N to forgive me and trust me, I ruined her life and I’m blessed to have met her. Without her I’d probably still be in an abusive relationship. Without her I wouldn’t have learned how to be humble and grateful for even waking up in the morning. She’s my best friend and I’m telling you straight up if you truly want to be her friend again. You need to work for it, Suna if you really want to be in the kids lives and earn Y/N’s trust you truly need to work for it.” she said almost desperately.
“If you ever disrespect her again. I will not hesitate to sock you in the face and I’ll call up Tobio if I have to. That goes for all of you.” Hana told the three men.
“Do you guys have anything to say?” You asked. “I would apologize but I’d rather let you see it than hear it.” Suna spoke up and you nodded. “Alright.” You said simply.
“I’m sorry, Y/N-cha—I mean Kageyama.” Atsumu said. “I’m sorry Kageyama.” Osamu finished and you nodded once more.
“Okay this is awkward. I forgave you guys a long time ago but I don’t trust either of you. Atsumu, Osamu you are not obligated to be my friend. Suna you aren’t obligated to be my friend either but I would appreciate it if we were civil with one another for the sake of the kids. If you ever have any questions regarding the kids I’ll be happy to answer.” You told him as you played with the tea bag in your cup, and they all stared at you.
Like that’s it? You forgive them? You’re not going to throw your tea at them?
“Um I kind of want to ask about the ya know..”
“Pregnancy?” Hana raised a brow and Suna nodded awkwardly. “Like when did you find out....and is that why you left?” He asked. “If its alright can we talk about that in private?” You asked and stood up. “Y-yeah sure.” Suna stuttered and he stood up as well. “Hana, Jamie you don’t mind—“ “The bus honks at 13:30 we know. We’ll be able to hear it.”
“Yeah and we have a lot of catching up to do.” Jamie fake smiled and you wanted to snort at the her disgust and their awkwardness. “Alright follow me.” You motioned down the hall. You opened the door to the kids room and you took a step in. He followed you and closed the door. You both released a sigh and you sat on Akira’s bed. “You can sit there.” You motioned to your sons bed.
He nodded and sat on the small bed. “Okay so..the pregnancy..” you started. “Mhm.” He nodded. “I found out on January 25th, I wasn’t feeling the best for a while and I couldn’t handle the discomfort anymore so I went to the hospital with my mom. The doctor asked me the basic sex questions and tested my urine. My mom came into the room when I was told the news and I was basically disowned.” You sighed and leaned back against the wall.
You hugged your knees to your chest. He could already feel the shame you must have felt in his chest. “I had to walk to the pharmacy in my school uniform to get to prenatales since my mom told me to walk home. When I finally arrived home, my room was trashed and they were asking if you happened to be the dad. I told them no. He even threatened to kick me out and I told him I didn’t know so I was kicked out and I left. I spent the night at Hana’s and the next day I resigned as the team’s manager, and gathered all my papers to transfer.” You said and he rubbed his face and sighed.
His birthday.
You found out on his birthday.
He patiently listened and asked a few questions here or there and before you knew it you barley heard the faint foot steps and the door bursting open. You both turned to see your guy’s kids standing there. “See I told you they were talking.” Akira mumbled. “Aunt Hana said something about them making out.” Rini huffed.
“She said making up not out! Are you an idiot or an idiot?!” Akira said slightly frustratedly. “I’m older than you, don’t call me an idiot.” He said and shoved her. Before you could scold your son, you saw Akira’s whole demeanor change and you knew Rini was fucked. “How many times has mom said to stop shoving girls and pushing women! If you keep at it than you’re going to be a bad husband to your future wife someday you stupid Rabbit!” She yelled as she tackled him and began smacking him around. “Get off me you nerd!” He yelled and you quickly pulled Akira away.
Rini began crying and Akira did too and you sighed and turned to Suna.
“Welcome to parenthood.”

The girl squad overhear Adrien and Marinette talking/arguing about Lila; they learn that Adrien knew Lila was lying and told Marinette to take the high road. When Adrien again says that the lies aren't hurting anyone, the girls confront him and explain just how the lies could hurt them. They also learn about Lila harassing Adrien and threatening Marinette. Bonus: Chloe redemption and having her care about Adrien as a friend.
Friends stand up for each other
Post Ikari Gozen. This is a draft.
While bonding with each other, Kagami and Marinette relate about their familial akumatizations. Marinette told about Weredad, Befana and Bakerix. Kagami talked about her mother and her own experiences.
Marinette: did I mention I’m sorry.
Kagami: do not be upset. You were nervous. Besides, you didn’t mean to, unlike that Lila girl.
Marinette: you know Lila?
Kagami: not exactly. I was busy practising one afternoon, then all of a sudden a random number sends me a picture of a stranger kissing Adrien.
Marinette startled. “Wait, if you never met Lila, how did she get your number?”
Kagami: Adrien thinks she must have copied off his contacts list.
Marinette: that is so wrong
Kagami: indeed
Marinette: lying is one thing, but this is downright harassment and invasion of privacy.
Kagami: lying?
Marinette: Lila likes to make herself sound grander than she really is. Apparently she’s Ladybug’s best friend.
Having met Ladybug, Kagami raised her brows skeptically. “With how Ladybug values her privacy, I’m surprised anyone believes that claim.”
Marinette sighed. “My friend Alya runs the Ladyblog. She gets very excited over any rumor about Ladybug.”
Kagami: like thinking Chloé was Ladybug despite being saved by her from Stoneheart?
Marinette: it is so nice to finally meet someone who does their research.
Kagami: I developed an interest after my own akumatization. But back to this liar, why haven’t you exposed her?
Marinette: I tried to. But she puts on this sweet front and people think I’m just jealous about Adrien.
Kagami: if they could see us now, they might change their minds.
Marinette: I doubt it. Things have gone too far. And the only other witness who believes me is Adrien, and he wants to take the high road and let Lila’s lies crumble on their own.
Kagami frowned. “He told me as much when I asked him what he was going to do about her.”
Marinette: be honest with me, do you wish we didn’t have to take the high road.
Kagami: the question is, would we be taking it if it didn’t involve Adrien.
Marinette snorted. “Alya would scramble to bring the truth to light asap. Rose would want to warn everyone so nobody gets their hopes crushed. And Alix already has her brother coming up with fantastical ideas, she doesn’t need someone else to do it in school too.”
Kagami: then we have our answer.
Marinette stopped. Kagami followed suit.
Marinette: we do, don’t we.
Kagami: It’s a shame that, based on what you’ve said, people would say we’re jealous.
Marinette: so how do we prove we’re not?
Kagami: I need a chance to improve my planning skills (especially since she ruined Ladybug’s first plan) and this is an excellent way to bond.
Marinette grinned.
The next day, the girls in class were astonished to see Marinette and Adrien arguing in the distance.
Lila hasn’t arrived yet. (Tikki may have locked her in her bedroom.)
Curious, Alya led the group to spy on their endgame. They were just around the corner, out of sight, but able to hear everything.
“...too long and her influence is only growing stronger.”
“She’s done nothing serious yet.”
“Are we supposed to wait until something bad really happens before Lila’s exposed?“ This again? The girls barely hid their groans. On a side note, how did Marinette convince Adrien to join her team?
“We’ll stop her before she goes too far,” Adrien assured Marinette.
“Really? Like how you stopped her from taking Kagami’s phone number? Lila’s already convinced Mylene to let her join in on her fundraiser. What if she steals the funds?”
“Relax. Lila’s not going to do anything that daring. She’ll probably just flake as usual.” Wow. Adrien really thinks bad of Lila now. What did Marinette say to him?
“Adrien, we’re talking about a girl who loves to get what she wants. Do you honestly think Lila will be satisfied with a simple no show. She’ll insist she handle the funds to make up for her absence.”
“We don’t have any proof she’s a thief. Ok, she’s a liar. But who doesn’t lie?”
“Adrien…I saw her steal your dad’s book.”
“What?!” Adrien’s outcry expressed what the girls were thinking.
“How do you think I know she’s a liar. I saw Ladybug confront her right after I saw her dump a book in the bin.“
Pause.
“Do you honestly think she won’t stoop so low as to steal Mylene’s funds if she didn’t even care that you were under house arrest?”
Silence before Adrien struggled to say, “She didn’t mean for me to get pulled out of school.”
“Oh come on!” This time the outburst came from Alix, one of the first to recover.
Adrien and Marinette turned around. Adrien paled. “Were you girls eavesdropping?”
Alya glared at him, “Why so upset? It’s not like we’re hurting anybody.”
Adrien cringed from the mocking tone.
Rose looked tearfully at Marinette. “All this time, you were trying to protect us, weren’t you? And we only accused you of being jealous.”
“You’ve finally seen the light. Hallelujah!”
Adrien: you girls aren’t going to tell anybody else, right?
They stared at him in disbelief. “Of course we are. Duh.”
“But then Lila won’t have any friends in our class!”
Alya scoffed. “Like I’m letting Nino listen to anymore of her garbage.”
Mylene nodded furiously. “Ivan and I trusted her!”
Alix: I have to tell Nathaniel. It’s what friends do. Oh, and Kim, too I suppose.
Rose: And Kim will tell Max, who will tell Markov.
Juleka: That leaves Chloe and Sabrina…but they don’t like anyone else but you, Adrien.
Adrien stammered. “It’s mean of you to do that.”
Alix laughed. “Oh, we’re mean? How about you? Did you care to tell Alya her blog credibility is being ruined?”
Mylene: Did you think to warn us that Lila might always be absent at our volunteer parties.
Marinette: Did you consider Kagami’s feelings when you told her you would do nothing to scold Lila for upsetting her.
Adrien looked down, unable to find an answer.
A sharp voice barked out. “Get back, you peasants!”
Chloe had arrived. “Need I remind you Adrikins is still new to having more than one friend. His only real teachers are cartoons with their happily ever afters. While I don’t really care if Lila steals and brags about falsehoods, I care if she does that to you, Adrikins. Dupain-Cheng told me about the photo and asked me to talk sense into you!”
Chloe was plan B. Marinette had asked Kagami to share the photo. Chloe was outraged. She saw that it was a forced kiss, and learned from Kagami how Lila was basically a snoop.
Adrien: Chloe, what do you mean exactly?
Chloe: I don’t care about exposing that liar…much…let’s wait for a slow day before we bring out the popcorn. What I care is that she’s sexually harassing you. i see her constantly moving into your personal space as you lean back. i saw her force that kiss on you so can have a souvenir you never agreed to. Now I hear she’s been snooping around your room, instead of actually studying. Adrikins, I love you, I know what our parents can be like, but that doesn’t mean you should let everybody walk all over you like that.
The girls pause as they take in what Chloe has been saying. Lila has been sexually harassing Adrien.
Adrien croaked out, “What should I do?” He wasn’t asking Chloe. He was asking everybody.
Marinette softened. “If you can’t say no yet, then ask for help. Tell Nino and the guys how Lila’s been bothering you. They’re your friends. If you can’t tell any of us your troubles, then who? Friends are here for each other, no matter what.”
Adrien nodded slowly. While he didn’t like being a tattletale, he also admitted he wanted Lila as far from him as possible. And if Lila was wrong, then he should tattle then? Right?
Alya: as for exposing Lila…
Chloe: we are not doing any exposing until we get a slow day.
Alix: When is a school day not a slow day?
Sabrina: When we learn to expect an akuma at least once a week.
Alya: There was an akuma 4 days ago.
Juleka: There should be one soon, then.
Mylene: How about 2 days after the next akuma attack? That gives us enough time to research, time for the akuma excitement to die down, and time before the next akuma shows up.
Chloe scowled: fine.
Alya: I’ll get right on it!
After that, Lila was irritated that whenever she tried to approach Adrien, someone would block her path, asking for help or stories or whatever. And Mylene had kicked her out of her charity after deciding that Lila was so busy, she didn’t want to interfere with her work with Ali. Ugh. Maybe Lila could convince Mylene to let her handle the cheques later. And the girls didn’t seem to want to hang out with her anymore. Before they always invited her out, but now they claim they’ve accepted her busy schedule. When Lila claimed to be free, someone asked her to help them with some chore.
After the debut of Monsieur Rat, Lila was called to the Principal’s Office. When she came back, she was accompanied by Mrs Rossi and Damocles.
Damocles: Class, I believe Miss Rossi here has something she would like to say.
Lila gritted her teeth as she forced out the words: “Ladybug is not my Best Friend. I don’t know Prince Ali. Jagged never had a kitten….”
The list went on, so many were her lies. While Ms Bustier gasped in betrayal, the girls were secretly munching on candy. Except for Chloe who was openly savouring her honeyed popcorn. Lila glared at her, suspicious of her involvement. Damocles coughed but said nothing. The boys were shocked and angry. It was one thing to unknowingly sexually harass Adrien, it was another to take advantage of their trust.
Mrs Rossi: As of now, my daughter will be heading to a convent school. The nuns there are known for being alert to their students’ activities, and are used to liars. It will also be far enough away that Hawkmoth can’t akumatize my daughter, who apparently thinks I would not be interested to know she has been akumatized who knows how many times!”
Lila: I told you it was only 2 times!
Mrs Rossi: akumas are newsworthy information! (Ok, how she missed out on the heroes defeating the villains is beyond me. For a diplomat, she is ridiculously oblivious about Paris.)
Alya: then who cast that illusion of Ladybug on Heroes Day? Lila was certainly around to be akumatized.
Lila gaped at Alya, who showed no surprise at her exposure. was she behind this?
Chloe gave a wave. “Bye bye, Lie-la”
After this, the girls were insistent Adrien learn to expose any wrongdoings or he is only enabling the bully. Chloé was more of the opinion he should learn to stand up to his father. Nino was on Chloé’s side for once.

Welcome to the Family
HELLO, Y’ALL ALSO GET CLONE BROTHERS CONTENT BECAUSE I’M IN A MOOD! ENJOY THE FOUND FAMILY, ANGST, AND SIBLING CHAOS!
Pigsy and Tang knew they were in for another late night when MK scrambled back into the shop, looking like a mess with one third of his hair missing. But he had a gleeful smile, which was a slight relief to them since the last time they saw him was running out of the shop in a panic to chase after the delivery clone, who had run off with the staff still in his mouth.
“Good news is, I took care of the clone problem!” Tang raised an eyebrow, the silent promise of bad news hanging over the empty shop was a guillotine blade.
“And the bad news?” Pigsy asked, eyes taking notice of movement outside the shop despite the place clearly being closed for the night. MK’s smile strained the slightest bit, sweating under the expectant stares of the two men.
“Well… the bad news is that I’m gonna need a bigger apartment.” Before they could ask him what exactly that means, the shop door opened behind him only for three very familiar faces to shyly peek from behind MK. One’s body was splattered with dried paint, one wearing a combination of pink sunglasses and a fur coat which hung off his shoulders that made them raise their eyebrows, and one was nervously chewing on a paintbrush with his very sharp teeth. Yet they all had the face of MK despite those differences.
And they were all heavy with varying degrees of shame and guilt.
“Surprise, I have siblings now!” MK cheered. Tang and Pigsy were left silent, much to the four’s nervousness before Pigsy let out a sigh of acceptance, getting back to wiping the countertops.
“As long as they don’t start eating all my deliveries again, they can stay.” The three clones sagged in relief, the delivery clone especially no longer looking like he was about to bite the paintbrush in half in anxiety.
“I have a feeling you would have kept them around no matter what we said anyways,” Tang added in with a knowing smile. “I’m assuming they have names in mind since I doubt you all want to be called MK.”
The four looked at each other silently before MK gently nudged the three forward from behind him. In that moment, they reminded Tang of MK’s first ever clone. A strange innocence in suddenly coming to existence and having a body with movement and a sense of touch.
“Painter.” Flakes of the dried pink paint fell from his face as he spoke.
“Porty.” He did his best to stand tall despite his posture showing he wanted to hide in his coat.
“...Delivery.” His voice was raspy from lack of use, fangs glinting in the shop’s lighting.
Pigsy and Tang shared a look of confusion before simply shrugging in acceptance. Their kid had practically multiplied in a day and adopted his own clones, just another part of their strange lives.
“Alright then. Sit down you four so we can figure this out, I’ll make us some-”
“NO NOODLES!” Everyone nearly leaped out of their skin as Delivery roared, genuine fear in his eyes at the thought of the food. “...Please, no noodles.”
Realization hit Pigsy. Right. The feeding frenzy from earlier.
“...Soup, I’ll make us some soup.” Delivery gave a sigh of relief before approaching the counter, reaching over to crush Pigsy in a bear hug. “Don’t worry about it bud, it’s no big deal.”
MK, Painter, and Porty quickly followed suit, smothering Pigsy and Tang in hugs before sitting down at the counter stools and Pigsy started handing out steaming bowls of soup. No one made mention of Delivery’s bowl not containing anything that could even resemble a noodle. Tang only gave Pigsy a smirk as the other gave him a bowl without even thinking about it, despite Tang still going through a half full bowl of noodles.
“Thanks Pigsy!” How MK could look so cheerful with half of his hair missing was a mystery to him.
“Thank you.” Painter gave a small smile, not wanting more paint to flake off into his soup. Yet, for some reason, Pigsy knew that he’s already consumed more paint in his short existence than a person should in their lifetime.
“Thanks man.” Porty had taken off his shades and Pigsy couldn’t help the jolt of worry he felt at the dark circles around his eyes. Just how long has he been awake before MK went to collect him?
Delivery silently took a look at his bowl before diving in headfirst, eating like a starved man receiving his first meal in weeks.
They all ate quietly before MK got a look on his face as if he just had an epiphany.
“Wait, if you guys are my clones does that mean you could wield the Monkey King’s staff too?” Painter, Porty, and Delivery all perked up at that question with varying degrees of excitement. Tang nearly choked on his noodles, having a feeling of what was about to come.
Oh no.
MK had summoned the staff already and the four of them passed it between each other like a baton, absolute glee on their faces as they discovered they all could hold the staff like MK could.
“What if, hear me out here, we all do shifts of being the Monkie Kid but when we do it we pretend to be baby bro here?” Porty suggested, a grin on his face that promised nothing but trouble.
“I literally made you three, why am I the baby?”
“It’s your vibes MK, keep up, now shush. Porty is speaking.” MK pouted but motioned for him to go on. “Imagine the look on Red Son’s face when he attacks thinking it’s MK but, surprise, it’s Painter! That’ll throw him off his rhythm and it’ll be hilarious!”
MK, Delivery, and Painter were silent for a moment before matching impish grins came to their faces.
“Oho, I could paint a masterpiece with the image you’re giving me. I’m all in on this plan.”
“This’ll be so funny, I’m in too!”
Delivery nodded in agreement, his grin wide enough to show every single fang in his shark-like mouth.
Pigsy and Tang watched them, sharing a look of apprehension.
They now realize that quadruple their kid means quadrupling the chaos apparently.

If I bounce my foot, it makes this chair sound like someone is doing unspeakable things. Also, it has been a hot minute, but I have a chapter written now, and that's what matters. Hopefully the next chapter will be out sooner than later.
Chapter 16
You are going to kill him.
“That is absolute fucking horseshit!” You pace back and forth in front of the restaurant. “His ass was the one who invited me!”
You can practically hear his eyes rolling on the other end of the line. “How is it my problem if he flaked?”
“You’re guilty by association!” You cross your arms. “It’s a favor to you! How is it not at least partially your fault?”
“Because he said he’d be there.”
You hang up on him. You have been standing here for half an hour, and only now do you hear that he can’t be there because of something about a movie. While, under different circumstances, you would be relatively understanding, standing outside in a dress in November is making you a bit less amiable.
You sit down on the step, letting your hair down and leaning forward on your knees. ‘What a waste of a perfectly good twilight.’
You pull out your phone. It’s your father’s birthday back home, ironically enough. You smile bitterly. He and your mother told you when you were younger you wouldn’t be allowed to date until you were eighteen— something about them being worried about you getting in a bad situation— and here you were, flouting their rules, sitting alone on the steps of a restaurant with just enough money for food. ‘Does this count as disrespectful?’
Nobody online has said anything about it. No messages hoping he rests in peace, nothing from extended family.
You set the phone down at your side, quietly watching people walk by. You had your cast taken off today. The people at the hospital gave you some sort of weird juice, and now you can walk around with only the occasional ringing in your ears and half-decent handwriting. ‘Not that my handwriting was that great before,’ you muse. ‘Maybe I’ll finally be able to sit in a car without wanting to jump out.’
“Something got you down?”
There is a thing you have noticed about people’s voices thus far that, until now, you have not thought about in detail; people do not sound exactly like their voice actors back in your world. For example, Donatello does not sound like Rob Paulsen, but the way he shapes his words, the tone of his voice, and the general pitch is relatively similar. He sounds like a teenage boy who happens to talk like his character, and it is by this you have been able to identify voices.
Oddly enough, she sounds nothing like Kelly Hi.
Your blood goes cold. “Yeah,” you sigh, desperately keeping your voice steady. “My date bailed on me.”
Karai sits down next to you on the steps, looking out with you. “That sucks.” She chuckled. “Why’s that?”
“No clue.” ‘Why is she trying this?’ You rest your head on your knees, hands clenching and thoughts going a mile a minute. ‘I’m not made by the Kraang, and the guys shouldn’t have messed with her anyways, so she shouldn’t have my— but I did kill— but she doesn’t care about that, and neither does Shredder.’
“Well,” she sighed, “that’s teenagers for you.” She points back at the restaurant. “Can I get you something? My treat.”
You swallow thickly. “Sure.” Your hands are shaking despite your best efforts. You hope you do not look as completely terrified as you feel. “But I can pay for my own food.”
“Are you alright there?”
‘Sadist.’ You nod.
“Are you sure?” She chuckles. “You’ve gone pale.”
You scramble for a plausible excuse. “I’ve been fasting.” That is not a good example of an excuse. “I need to start getting more iron in my diet.”
“I’m sure some food inside will have iron in it.” The smile on her face— she is not a good liar herself— tells you all you need to know, all venom and quiet pleasure. You seem to shrink next to her.
It is not a request. It is a veiled demand.
You get to your feet. You will not make it far if you run. “Have you been here before?” You force yourself up the steps, opening the door for her.
“No,” she admits, nodding thanks, “but it’s supposed to have good reviews.”
“So you were here for the food?”
A shrug. “You could say that.”
The two of you settled in a booth not terribly far from the door, on your insistence. If you are putting yourself in this situation— ‘At least Casey knows where I am. Why did he have to suggest someplace where I know nobody?’— you may as well not make it easy for her. She orders a milkshake— you can not hear her very well over the roaring in your ears, but that is what she gets— and you drink water exclusively from the straw because your hands are currently incapable of holding anything. ‘What was even the point of all those dexterity-based exercises,’ you cannot help but internally whine, ‘if as soon as I need to be coordinated, I get all flinchy and shaky?’
“I didn’t catch your name.”
Your head rises too quickly. “Huh?”
Another smile. You hate her. “Your name,” she repeats herself. “You haven’t given me your name.”
“Y/N.” As soon as you say it, you know you messed up. “Y/N Collins.”
“Collins?” She leaned against her hand, quietly staring you down. “What is that?”
“Huh?”
“I mean, what country is that from?”
‘Great question.’ You strain to smile back. “No clue. My parents haven’t ever brought it up.”
“Really?”
Your face burns at how easy the clinking of her fingernails against the glass puts you on edge. “Is that unusual?”
“I wouldn’t know.” She took a sip from her drink. “I don’t have many friends, you understand, and I’m from overseas to boot. I don’t know much about what’s normal.”
“Yeah?” You follow her example. “What’re you here for?”
A shrug. “My father’s here on business. Cutlery.”
“For restaurants or?”
“Sure.”
‘If I call Casey, he— but then I’d have to be in his van.’ You clear your throat. ‘Bathroom. Maybe the bathroom has a window.’ “Do you mind if I step out for a sec?” You stand up. “I have to use the restroom.”
“Not at all.” She looks up at you through her eyelashes. “Want me to come with?”
You shake your head, trying not to trip over yourself as you make it to the back of the restaurant, purse over your shoulder. ‘Maybe she won’t think anything of it.’ You lock the door behind you, exhaling as you look around the small room. As is typical of your luck these days— though, you suppose, fighting back tears, it’s not so much these days if it’s been going on for months; you miss your mother— there is none. Graffiti, sharpie illustrations, no toilet paper, and no window. No plan for if the date went badly in the first place— you kick yourself for having forgotten that essential step— and no ride home. You have money for the ticket home— he said he would pay— and a phone and a charger and it is at times like these where you wish you valued your life more. The only chance you now have, as far as you’re concerned, is to either run or fake a phone call at the table.
You just got out of a cast.
You take a deep breath, walking back onto the floor, thanking her for her patience. She nods, waves it off as no trouble, and starts talking again as she drains her drink. You listen, you try to keep the conversation going the best you can, drink right alongside her.
You do not remember when you start having fun, when you start laughing along with her at something or other, but you are now.
“So,” she sighed, lacing her fingers together under her chin. “Who was the lucky guy?”
You blink. “Huh?”
“The guys you were here to meet.”
“Kid from Bio,” you answer. “Can’t remember his name.”
She nods. “Do you have many guy friends?”
“A couple, I guess.”
“What’re they like?”
“Busy.” You smile slightly. “Most of them are, anyway. The guy that set me up is free most of the time.”
“What about the others?”
“They’re into martial arts.” You glance down at your glass, and for a moment, you swear it looks slightly blue. “Their dad’s into it.”
“What’re their names?”
You blink, picking the glass up and placing it on top of your hand. “Reese and Donnie and Legoshi and the other one.” ‘Why is my drink blue?’
“The other one?”
You nod, eyes drooping slightly as you struggle to rationalize the color change. “Can’t remember his name.”
“Michelangelo, maybe?”
“Maybe.” You take another sip, trying to taste what it is. “That name sounds familiar, but I can’t remember from what.” Something with salt.
“You said your name was Y/N?”
You nod again. ‘Water isn’t blue, right?’
“Then, Y/N,” she smiles again, eyes slowly drilling holes into your skull, “do you know who I am?”
“Legoshi’s sis, right?” You look up at her. “You’re Karai Hamato.”
Your eyes are too blurry to tell exactly what is happening with her face. “What?”
“Your name.” You take another sip. “Karai Hamato. Or Missy. It’s one of the two.”
“I’m not a Hamato.”
“Yeah, you are.” You giggle before the words slip out of your mouth. “You’re fucking— well, not fucking— you let stepbrother, right? Half brother?” You are forgetting something important. “Are you two blood-related?”
“We aren’t.”
“You sound angry.”
A blink. “I do not.”
“Do too.” ‘I don’t like her for some reason.’ “You’re getting all red in the face.”
“Because you’re accusing me of something I’m not.”
“Fuckin…” you grin. “If you’re into that shit, I’m not gonna fuckin judge you or nothin, but at least fuckin… uh… own up to it.” Your eyes drag across the table lazily.
“I’m no Hamato.”
“You are too.”
They land on a plastic bag.
‘Oh. That’s why.’
“Who told you I was?”
“Your stepdad.” You get to your feet, holding your bag. “Or dad, I guess? I dunno, whichever one didn’t kill your mom.”
There’s something else in her voice as she gets up, following you out. “How do you know that?”
“I just said how.” The cold air outside hits you like a brick. ‘Run.’
“So you know where—“ You shove your weight back on her, slamming her body and in turn her into the brick wall and run.
She grabs your something. You fall, head slamming painfully against the ground. You kick her, she grabs your hair. In what you might later describe as a drunken effort, you reach your hands up towards her face. You feel something squishy, a cry, and she’s facing you now, dragging you into somewhere considerably darker than outside at night. You feel something in the back of your head, she covers your mouth as you cry out, and you do the only thing you can think of.
You taste something again. Something is in your mouth. She stumbles back. You trip up to your feet, and you fall in the direction of the nearest subway tunnel.
The things happening around that time are swirling around in your head, now, face held in your hands as you quietly curl up on the subway. You do not remember entering a train car, or buying a ticket, or even what happened to the object in your mouth, but the crying you remember. You remember someone touching your shoulder with a soft voice, looking up with your mouth covered in sticky, dried stuff and fingers covered in red and clear goo, and that being enough to have them get off at the next stop.
You do not know how long you are on the train. When you finally feel yourself again, your phone is almost dead. Hours must have passed. You do not remember leaving, but you remember the ringing in your ears again as you dial someone, sitting on the sidewalk in what used to be the only dress you owned. You are reasonably sure you are going to burn it.
“Is this okay?”
“What?”
“This.” Mikey gestures around himself. “What we’re doing.”
“What the fuck are you talking about?”
“They’re people, right?” He looks over at his brother, currently skimming the same magazine again. “The Kraang, I mean.”
It takes a second for him to process the question, but Donnie does not have to look up from his sewing to know his brother’s reaction.
“It’s just a question.”
“A fuckin— do you hear yourself?”
“I’m just—“
“Leo,” he turns to his older brother, “is killing the threat to all of humanity wrong?”
“But we just blew up a giant ship of them though.” He crisscrosses his legs. “Aren't we killing a ton of people, then?”
“Mikey,” Leo sighs, not looking up from the TV, “there are more people in New York than there are Kraang that we could ever kill.”
“Eight million.” He sincerely hopes the gloves are not too large. “For number's sake, it’s eight million.”
Leo shoots his brother a thumbs up, glancing over at his brother’s project curiously. “Thanks, Donnie.”
“Even if we were actively going on a killing spree and mowing them down that way, there is no way in hell any of us could kill two million Kraang per person even if we wanted to. That’s not even talking about the number of people who would be fucked once they were done with New York.” Raphael punctuates this with a pointed and aggressive flip to the next page. “End of story.”
“But—“
“And even if they stopped at New York,” he continues, cutting him off, “that would still be eight million people dead because of us getting cold feet.”
Mikey opens his mouth again, sighs, and closes it. “Fine, okay.” He leans back against the concrete, eyes going back to his phone. “Anyways, why do you keep getting water on your thing?”
“Hm? Oh, you mean the gloves.” His taller brother looks up. “It’s easier to get the needle through it when it’s warm and wet. Plus, it makes the— stop laughing!”
“Then you thought it too.”
Heat rushes to his face. “You’re so immature.”
“But you thought it too. That's hypothetical.”
“You mean hypocritical.”
“I said what I said.”
Michelangelo’s phone rings.
He puts a finger, bringing it to his face. “Hel— hey, slow down.” His brow furrowed, the other three leaning towards him. “No, wait, what— who’s she?”
There’s a pause.
“She did— wait, hold on.” He tosses the phone to Donatello. “It’s for you.”
He catches it. “Hello?”
“Could you pick me up?”
He blinks. “What, with the Shellraiser?”
Your voice is paper. “Yup.”
“You hate the Shellraiser.”
“She wants to go in the Shellraiser?”
Donatello waves his younger brother off, letting you talk. “I hate Karai more, currently. Please pick me up.”
Leo pipes up. “What happened?”
He ignores him. “Where are you?”
There is a pause as she checks, his brothers watching for his reactions. “One-oh-three Saint Corona Plaza.”
“Got it.”
“What happened?” Raphael, this time.
“Need me to stay on the line?” With a pointed glare at his siblings, he climbs into the ‘raiser.
“Please.”
He calls behind him at his brothers. “I’ll be back before two.” The phone is brought back up to his face as they moan about a lack of info. The machine is spurred into motion. “What are you doing in Queens so late?”
“No idea.” He can hear your strained smile. “Ask Karai.”
His heart stops. “What happened with Karai?”
You repeat your statement.
“She didn’t—“
You cut him off. “I’m not back in the hospital, no.”
He resists the urge to sigh in relief. “Did she follow you?”
“I’ve yet to be hit over the head, so I’ll hasten to say no.” There is something off about your voice, a certain quality about it that he cannot quite pin down. “I’ve been essentially useless the whole time, what with her drugging me and all.”
“She what?”
“I think she did, anyway.” It is incredibly disturbing to him how calm you sound. “Unless water’s blue and kinda tastes salty now. I don’t imagine it would be though,” you ponder, chilling years off of his life, “even if you guys messed up the mission. It would be green, since that’s the color of the acid, right?”
He mumbles something out about indicators, head reeling as he tries to not hit a street lamp.
“That’s what I thought.” You sigh. “Say, have you got any hydrogen peroxide at your place? No, wait, scratch that, I’m burning the dress anyways.”
“Dress?”
“Yeah.” You huff. “Last time I’m letting Jones set me up on a date. Last time I’m going on a date period until all this gets worked out, actually.”
‘It is not okay to feel happy that she had a bad date.’ Still, he tries to steer the conversation away from the horrifying for a minute. “What happened?”
“I got stood up.”
“Why?”
“I forget. Where are you?”
He glances up at the street sign. “Still pretty far.”
A pause.
“You know,” you swallow, “I should really stop doing this. It’s not exactly great of me to have to ask for your help all the time.”
“None of us mind.”
“That’s not the point.” He hears a car on your end whizz by. “I should be able to go a week without making you go out of your way for me. You guys manage.”
“We’ve also been training in ninjutsu since we could walk.”
Tired, he decided. You sound tired. “Other normal people manage.”
“You’re not a normal person, though.”
“Sure I am.” Your words sound slow to him. “I keep interesting company is all.”
“That’s a word for it.”
“What, don’t count yourself as interesting?”
He turns a corner. “Not the first word I’d use, no.”
Another long silence. Occasionally, he notes, you will him something into the phone, say a quiet, unintelligible word of phrase he cannot quite make out, presumably in an effort to continue looking like you are on the phone to passers by. The streets, like most nights nowadays, are mostly empty, save for the occasional cop car or kid, making the commute a relatively uneventful one. It gives him time to think, anyways, and after a while of quiet contemplation and forced slow breaths so he did not look quite as panicked as he felt once he picked you up, a question quietly surfaces.
He would have come in a heartbeat. He was not exactly sure what he would have done, but he would have come running, regardless of if he could help. Why would you not call? Why would you try and deal with that sort of situation alone? Did you not trust he would come?
His fingers tighten around the wheel. What had you been thinking going out alone, anyway? After all that was happening, you thought it was a good idea to go on a date without a plan for if it went south?
Another sharp turn. If nothing else, he thinks, he can not say you are no longer naive or lacking in innocence. Maybe you are just incredibly prideful. Regardless, it will get you in more trouble than you had to be in.
What would he do if you got yourself irreparably damaged?
You are not having a good time.
You have managed to convince yourself that this is not, in fact, anything like the car. For starters, it is less aerodynamic; it is a metal box on wheels, designed for subway travel and is, therefore, not designed for optimum wind resistance, meaning it cannot go as fast with the same amount of energy. The inside of the vehicle is also distinctly dissimilar to a car, its origins blatantly obvious, and was entirely lacking in windows. While this is enough to convince you currently that climbing into the machine is not as serious a death sentence, the fact of the matter is that, yes, it is a metal monster on four wheels that drives on roads. If you keep your eyes shut, maybe you will not vomit as soon as you stumble out of the door.
Your stomach hurts. A lot of your body hurts, actually. You do not remember the “fight” with much clarity, but you do understand your head hurrying. You have yet to get a good look at yourself, but if you had to guess by the stains on your fingers that you can now identify as blood, the bad taste in your mouth that you are fairly sure is vomit and the flaky stuff on your face that also looks suspiciously blood-like, you would hasten to guess the answer is “not great”. You certainly do not feel great, if that is indicative of anything.
He has not said a word so far.
You do not force conversation, now. You would prefer not to talk about the ordeal, anyways.
There are monitors that he is staring at in order to steer. Why he would not just get an actual steering wheel or the old hull of a car from a junkyard is beyond you, though you guess a hippie van would not offer the same armored protection as a subway car.
“We got molested by a sea monster today.”
You look over at him, eyes half lidded. You want to sleep. “Yeah?”
“Yeah.” His eyes are focused on the screens. “Apparently it liked my submarine.”
“That’s… a thing.” You rub your hands on your thighs absentmindedly. “How did that work out?”
“Fine. It wasn’t all that strong.”
Your lips curl up into a weak smile. “That’s good, then. The mission went alright?”
He nods. “Without a hitch, funny enough.”
“That’s cool.”
The conversation dies as quickly as it starts.
The drive from that point on is an uncomfortably quiet one. You pick blood from under your nails, thumbs occasionally tracing the scars on your fingers— you are still not used to the difference in texture— as the hum or an engine rumbles underneath you. You are reminded of a memory from when you were younger, driving down the hallway, basking in the warmth of your own body heat with your arms tucked to your chest from under your top layer. The machine you were in now was colder, staler, but the hum of the engine, the time, all reminded you quietly of simpler times.
You swallow thickly. ‘I’m such a coward.’ You shut your eyes gently, stomach churning. ‘I’m going to get the people I care about hurt, aren’t I?’
Donnie says something.
The Shellraiser is stopped. You look up at him. “Huh?”
When he was younger, he and his brothers did not know the limits of their own strength. When they were first learning to fight, when they were first sent to spar against one another when their sensei was asleep, they would often go a step or three too far. He was never one to get involved— his brothers were stronger, more enthusiastic fighters— but he remembered distinctly what they would look like the morning after a fight, cheeks and eyes various shades of purples and blues and blacks. They would ask him, on occasion, after particularly brutal brawls, for him to paint over whichever brother’s face— usually Raphael or Leo— to hide them from their father. He got used to the sight, got better at understanding their anatomy, which chemicals mixed together would do which things.
He is getting sufficiently tired of seeing you hurt the worst he has ever seen.
You look so small in the seat, face black and blue, hands shaking. Your skin is paler than when you two first met, less healthy, a thin coat of sweat coating your skin and hair stuck to the back of your neck. Your dress— he has never seen you in one— is stained with rust, hidden poorly from under your jacket. He can tell already which bruises will take a while to disperse, where she had busted your nose and slammed your head against something hard. You need a shower and water and a blood test to make sure you do not die from whatever Karai gave you.
He clears his throat again. “I don’t want to be rude.”
“You’re doing me a favor. You have a right.”
He does not look you in the eyes. “It’s just… can I ask a question?”
You sigh. Even your voice sounds tired. “Shoot.”
His fingers trace the rim of the steering wheel. He takes a slow breath. “Why didn’t you call?”
“When she cornered me, you mean?”
A nod.
He glances over at you, staring down at your hands, turning them over. “You were on a mission. I didn’t want to mess it up.”
“I would’ve come, you know.”
“I know.” You smile ruefully. “That’s why I didn’t.”
His fingers grip the wheel again, trying to not openly overreact. “Y/N,” he says carefully, “if a mission fails because we need to come save you from Karai, then we fail the mission.”
“How many people in New York would die if you guys did fail?”
“That’s not the point.”
“It is.” You look up at him. “You get yourself in a lot of trouble because of me. You have to make sure I don’t kill myself all the time. Think logically, Donnie.”
He snorts, heart pounding in suppressed, almost overwhelming frustration. “Are you going to say something about thinking logically?”
“Fair point. But you get mine, right?”
“I don’t, actually.” He leans back in his chair, fingers gripping tighter still. “The only reason we’re messing with the Kraang at all, the only reason we started all this, is because I saw you and wanted to help you.” He counts on his fingers. “The only people I really, honestly care about this much are my family and you, and I know that, if I had never met you,” and he looks you dead in the eyes now, “I would just make a filtration system for my family and that would be the end of it.”
Your eyes are still gorgeous. Behind the bruises and the blood, you really are stunning.
“Sure,” he concedes, “maybe Leo would’ve gotten involved because he’s that selfless. I would’ve gone along with it, since he’s my brother and all, but if that were the case…” He takes a slow breath to calm down. He never thought it would come out right now at all times. “If that were the case, I would’ve never tried red velvet cupcakes. Mikey wouldn’t have a friend outside of the family. I never would’ve learned about crime movies, or had talks about science with anyone but myself, or any of the thousand other things you’ve given us.” He does not know exactly when he grabs your hands, but he is now, and you are so warm and alive right now. “I care about you. We care about you. You have to know that. For fuck’s sake,” he laughs, “I’ve told you outright, before!”
You open your mouth to say something. No words come out, for once.
He squeezes your hands. He cannot tell if your heart feels like his does, the straining against his chest, the aching feeling. He was never good at reading people or emotions or any of that.
But it’s time now. He can barely think. If he does not now, he might not ever.
“I love you, Y/N.”

Keeping Warm (2)
*Did I make a second part to this because one person asked for it? Yes I did. Come to me my Felix simps! Enjoy your fluff!*
~~~
That had to be the best sleep I’ve had in a while! This cloak was a lot better than my old one. I wonder how long I could get away with keeping it before the boys stole it back. I folded it up neatly and hid it under my cot so it wasn’t out in the open for them to steal back.
I left my tent and noticed that the boys that had been laughing and teasing me yesterday were keeping a wide berth from me today. I had no problem with that. The farther away they stayed the better.
Since I was truly well rested for the first time in a long time I decided to take advantage of my energy and practice my archery. Before Neverland I never had a need to learn how to wield a weapon but archery was fun and it helped in hunting small game. I grabbed my bow and quiver of arrows before setting off into the jungle. When it came to game on the island there wasn’t a whole lot outside of fish and some birds but they didn’t make for much food.
If you wanted a good meal you had to head into the dark jungle of the island. It’s where all the big game lived since anyone ventured in there. You could sometimes find a rogue boar running around outside of the dark jungle but they mainly stayed within the perimeter. Other than boars there was also a type of goat that lived there. The boys had tried keeping some of the goats for milk a while back but after the “incident” all the goats were shoved into the dark jungle and water became the only acceptable source of drink. Probably for the best.
I was out tracking for a while when I saw something move out of the corner of my eye. I tried to make it out through the foliage and saw the head of a goat pop up. Gotcha. I notched an arrow and took aim. I let the arrow fly and cheered when it went right through the goat’s eyes.
“What the hell?” Another head popped up, this time it wasn’t a goat though. Felix turned to look at me. “What was that?”
“Sorry!” I rushed over, “I was hunting and saw the goat head. I didn’t mean to shoot at you. What are you doing out here?”
“Same as you it seems. I had been tracking this fat bastard for over an hour.” He kicked the dead goat at our feet. “Almost had it too before you got it first. Nice shot by the way.”
“Thanks! I was really lucky this time around. I usually don’t get a clear shot like that.” I tore the arrow out of the goat’s head. “Since you’re here do you mind helping me lug this beast back to camp?”
“Sure,” Felix heaved the goat up and threw it onto his shoulders. “Let’s get moving.”
“This will surely make for a good dinner tonight.”
“You really wanna let those jerks tear into your catch?” Felix asked.
“I mean not really but this is way more food than you and I can eat so we kinda have to split it up.” I shrugged, “Why do you care anyway? I thought you liked the other Lost Boys.”
“They’re my brothers but brothers can get damn annoying.” He muttered, “Taking shit that doesn’t belong to them and whatnot.”
“Ugh, I know what you mean.” I sighed, “They stole my cloak out of my tent last night so I stole one of theirs as payback.”
“Did you now?” Felix trudged further ahead, “Did you give it back yet?”
“No and I don’t plan to. Mine was so thin it didn’t help at all but this one is really warm so unless they come and pry it away from me I’m not giving it up. It also helps that is smells good so I cuddle up in it even tighter.” My face started heating up after I realized what I just admitted. “Sorry, that was a lot of unnecessary information.”
“It’s fine,” Felix muttered.
I jogged to fall into step next to him. I grabbed an apple out of my bag and started cutting off slices with my knife. I wordlessly offered one to Felix. This time when I popped it into his mouth for him though I didn’t roll my eyes since his hands were full carrying the goat. We trekked back to camp in companionable silence. Felix set the goat down for the others to skin and cook while we rested.
We sat down on a log together while I picked bits of goat fur off his shoulders.
“Felix,” One of the boys approached us, “Pan was looking for you earlier but you were away from camp so he wanted me to pass on a message.”
“And?” Felix asked.
“He’s gone off the island on a mission of sorts. Says he may not be back till morning at the latest so you’re in charge till then.”
“Got it.” Felix nodded and the boy ran off again.
“Man in charge tonight,” I poked his shoulder, “Don’t crack under the pressure, captain.”
“Har har,” He rolled his shoulder ushering me off, “Being in charge for a night doesn’t entail much. I just have to make sure these idiots don’t go rogue during Pan’s absence and do something stupid like burn the camp down again.”
“These boys can really be just the dumbest things on the face of the earth, can’t they?” I shook my head. Then my body shook. A cold gust of wind blew through the camp. It wasn’t like the slightly cooler breezes that Neverland usually had. This was cold. Really cold.
The other boys felt it as well. All of them rushing to their tents and reappearing with cloaks and others running for firewood. “What’s going on?” I asked Felix as I rubbed feebly at my arms.
Felix sighed. “I almost forgot that this happens when Pan leaves. He so rarely does anymore it didn’t even cross my mind.”
“What?”
“When Pan leaves then time stands still. I don’t mean that in the way that tie naturally stands still here. I mean the island basically goes into hibernation without him around. Depending on how long he’s been gone we should start to see the beginnings of…” Felix looked up. The once clear sunny sky had been replaced with dark dreary clouds.
“Oh don’t tell me it’s gonna rain!” I pouted.
“Worse than that.”
We sat there for a minute as delicate white flakes started falling from the sky. “Snow?!” I gaped at the offending weather. “How is there snow? This is a tropical island!”
“It is a magic island too though.” Felix said. “You may want to grab something to put on, viper. It’s only gonna get colder.”
“Right, I’ll be right back.” I ran back to my tent and pulled the cloak out from under my cot. I put it on but while it was thick enough to keep out the chill of the night it was just another feeble layer against the bitter cold that we had been subjected to now.
I went back to the log where Felix and I had been seated but he wasn’t there anymore. I made my way towards the bonfire the boys had started and huddled as close as I could get to the flames. I really hope the boy I stole the cloak from won’t try to take it back now. I fear I’ll freeze to death without it.
The sky grew even darker and the island got even colder. We were quickly burning through our supply of firewood and I knew that it would run out soon. When that happened it was every man for themselves. I figured I’d hunker down in my tent and try to keep warm by myself until Pan returned and the cold went away.
I stayed by the fire as it dwindled down to faintly glowing coals. The snow had really piled up and my toes were numb in my boots. Oh no! I didn’t even take into account the snow! I ran as fast as I could to my tent but it was of no use. The snow had weighed it down and it crumpled. My cot was soaked and the beams I had used to pitch it had snapped. This was just great.
It looked as if the other boys had gotten the memo to keep the snow from piling up on their tents since they rest were still standing. Would have been nice if they mentioned something to me. I shivered violently against another harsh gale of wind and trudged away from my ruined tent. Maybe I could find Felix and he’d take pity on me and let me stay in his tent for the night.
I scoured the wintry white camp but saw no Felix. He was probably already hunkered down. If only I knew which tent was his.
~~~
Damn this cold. Why did the island have to go into hibernation just cause Pan wasn’t around? It really wasn’t fair. Felix hated it all the more since he didn’t have anything to keep him warm now that he had let you have his cloak.
Upon realizing just how bad it was going to camp Felix remembered something that could help him keep warm. He jumped up and ran into the jungle until he found the old, gnarled dead tree that years and years ago had been the first home of the Lost Boys. He knocked against the trunk until he found the hatch that opened up. It would be a tight fit but if he kept his arms close to his chest then...Felix slipped down the hollow trunk of the tree and was deposited into an underground cavern.
He lit a torch along the wall and breathed in the dusty but altogether warmer air. This place looked as if it hadn’t been touched in decades. It probably hadn’t. Felix only ever remembered this place when Pan left and turned the rest of the island into a wintry hellscape. He never told any of the other Lost Boys about this warm oasis since he didn’t want them crowding in around him.
Felix was down there clearing cobwebs and shaking out the dusty furs and blankets when he was hit with a sharp realization. He left you back at camp. He left the one person who cannot handle any amount of cold in any way back in a blizzard!
“Shit!” Felix hissed and climbed back out of the cavern. He raced back to camp and spotted you easily enough since you were the only one still outside. Why were you outside? Why weren’t you in your tent at least?
“Hey,” He shouted, pulling you away from where the bonfire had been, “What are you doing out here?”
“Tent collapsed under the snow.” Your whole body was shaking so bad that it even bled into your voice. “Was looking for you…”
“Come on,” He grabbed your hand and tugged you along, “I know someplace we can go to wait this out.”
Felix knew it was a bad time but he couldn’t get over the sight of you in his cloak. It was just like last night when he got that strange fluttering in his chest. He gripped your hand tighter and tried pulling you faster but you ended up losing your balance and tripping. Felix caught you before you landed in the snow but he could tell you were having trouble keeping up.
“We’re almost there, just a little further,”
“I can’t feel my toes,” You whimpered.
“Damn it,” Felix ran a hand through his hair. “Well we can’t stay out here. Hold onto me.” With that Felix gathered you in his arms and pulled you off the ground. He hiked his way back to the dead tree with you held in his arms. This was the first time he had really been this close to you. Your head nestled on his shoulder as your body trembled. He set you down long enough to open the hatch on the dead tree again and set you inside. You went sliding down and Felix shortly followed.
“Where are we?” You gazed around the cavern you both were in. “It’s warm in here.”
“My own little get away when the island goes into stasis.” Felix explained. He helped you up and ushered you towards the bed at the back of the cavern covered in blankets and furs. “You’ll keep warm down here.”
“Blankets!” He burrowed underneath the blankets with a content sigh. “I am never leaving this pile.”
“Thought you’d enjoy that.” Felix smiled. “Are your toes still numb?”
“A little.”
“Let me see, I want to make sure you don’t have frostbite.” He instructed.
You untied your boots and Felix grimaced when he saw that your socks had been soaked through. You peeled those off too. There was no way to make this awkward so Felix grabbed your feet and inspected them, pushing on your toes to make sure they hadn’t incurred any damage.
“Good news, you get to keep your toes.” Felix pushed your feet off his lap and pulled the blanket you were wrapped in back over them.
“That is a relief.” You smiled brightly. “Thanks for sharing this space with me.”
“Well I wasn’t just gonna let you suffer out there in the cold. The others deserve it but not you.” Felix said. The fluttering was back and he could feel it’s way creeping up his neck into his face. The air in the room suddenly felt too hot. He shuffled back to the foot of the bed further away from you.
There was a beat of silence.
“Hey Felix?” You crawled over to sit next to him.
“Yeah?” Felix tried not to look at you lest the pink in his cheeks be noticed.
“Where is your cloak? Don’t tell me you were out running around in this weather without grabbing it.” You said. Felix resisted a bark of laughter. Said cloak was still around your shoulders and you clutched it tightly in your hands as you looked at him.
“I didn’t have much of a choice.” He pulled the hood up over your head and down in front of your eyes. “You kinda stole it, viper.”
“Huh?” Your eyes peeped out from under the hood. He watched with amusement as the realization hit you and you pulled the hood back down to hide. “I’m sorry! I had no idea it was yours! I thought it belonged to one of the jerks that stole mine!”
“It’s alright, you needed it a lot more than I did anyway.” He chuckled softly. “Glad to know you think I smell good though.”
“AGH!” You dove under the blankets to hide further. Your embarrassed voice still rung clear from underneath the furs. “I cannot believe I told you that!”
“Come now, it’s not that bad.” Felix couldn’t help the spark of joy he felt when he teased you. “Come out. I wanna talk to you.”
“Nope! I am never leaving again for the sake of my dignity.”
“Fine.” Felix took a deep breath and pulled the covers up over himself. Your face was inches away from his under the blankets. “I’ll just come to you.”
“Felix…” You muttered, you were still keeping your eyes down so you weren’t looking at him.
“I wanna know something.”
“What?”
“If you get so cold at night why didn’t you ask me for help? I could have brought you as many blankets as you wanted from down here.”
“I didn’t ask because I had already tried asking the other boys for help and all they did was make fun of me. I didn’t want you to tease me too.”
“Teasing you is fun but I’d rather you not freeze to death.” He said, “I also told the boys that if they steal anything from you again then they’ll answer to me.”
“Why would you do that?” You asked, “I get that we’re friends but you don’t have to fight my battles.”
“It’s because you are my friend that I want to help you, idiot.” He poked your forehead, “Which means threatening Lost Boys and letting you steal my cloak. It kinda feels like it’s my mission to keep you warm.”
“A noble cause indeed.” You laughed and Felix decided then that he had never heard a more pleasing sound.
Your smile softened and Felix got lost in your eyes for a moment. The fluttering was getting worse but he found he didn’t mind it. “Here,” You closed the distance between the two of you and left a quick kiss on his cheek, “A little token of thanks.”
Okay. Now he minded. It felt like a billion butterflies had gotten trapped in his ribcage. It was just a moment. A mere second of contact but it lit his body from the toes up as if he had stepped into a fire.
“You okay? Did I cross a line? Sorry. I didn’t mean to. I was just thankful for what you did and you’ve always been nice to me so--”
“Give…” Felix mumbled under his breath but it was enough to stop your mess of ramblings.
“You say something?” You asked.
“Give you…” Felix took a deep breath but it did little to calm his nerves. “Want to give you one.”
“Give me one what?” You asked.
“A...um…” he tapped his cheek. This was stupid! Why was he trying to initiate this right now? It was only meant to be a thank you kiss between friends and he was making it weird!
“Oh!” Your face got even hotter than it had a moment before. “I mean if you really want to then go ahead. Can I ask why first?”
“A thanks for never dropping a hermit crab in my mouth whenever you offer me food?” he joked. You laughed again, the tension between you breaking.
“I do deserve thanks for that.” You nodded and presented your cheek, “Go ahead.”
Okay Felix. Do not screw this up. There is not conceivable way to mess this up. He inched closer and left a darting kiss to your warm cheek.
“I bring you a lot of snacks,” Your voice was a whisper, “I think maybe that’s worthy of two kisses.”
“I was thinking the same thing.” Felix turned your face so he could kiss your other cheek. “While we’re at it I think I’m owed more thanks for lugging that big goat of yours back to camp. It wasn’t light at all.”
“I suppose you do.” You grinned wider. This time when you kissed him you pressed it to the tip of his nose. “You also carried me here so if we think about it logically then I should--”
“Just kiss me already.” Felix pulled you closer.
“Yes sir,” You held his face in your small warm hands and kissed him on the mouth. Your lips were so soft and you tasted sweet like berries. “Felix,” You murmured against his lips.
“Hm?”
“If this is another way of keeping warm, it’s working.”
“Then we probably shouldn’t stop.” His lips met yours again. He couldn’t have you getting cold again after all.

sweet angel — lee hoseok/wonho
Tumblr media
a/n: i hope you guys like this piece because i put a lot of effort into it and i really like the storyline 🥺
word count: 2.3k
content: sub!wonho, dom!fem!reader, not explicitly afab but she/her pronouns for the reader, only like half of it is horny, handjobs, some shit doesn’t make sense just go with it, this fic has cute moments but warning you now it’s not what you think it is.
summary: the goddess of stars and moons, of gold and silk, falls in love with a human with soft features and an endearing pout.
because of a violent and blood history, every year the village sends one of their maidens or men to the goddess temple as a sort of offering to her. she has not attacked the village since and the souls that are sent to her are never returned.
when wonho heard the news, that he was chosen to be sent to the goddess, it’s as if the knowledge was deafening. he couldn’t imagine giving up everything just to be a sacrifice. he had friends and a family and a important role in his community.
but it had to happen, “you were chosen for the sacrifice?” wonho’s younger friend asked him, his voice slightly trembling at the implications.
“it’ll be okay, kyun. i’ll be okay and you all will be okay without me,” wonho smiles distantly, because he can’t seem to find it in him to meet the gaze of his friend. he knows he’s already crying, he doesn’t want to cry more, “it’ll all be okay...”
“no! no it’s not okay!” he cries out, but his cries fall in deaf ears. not even wonho can fight this anymore, “stop! why are you so complacent in this fate? she’s going to kill you!”
“i know...” he mutters sadly, “that’s why i’m so complacent. it’s either me, or it’s you, or it’s jooheon, or minhyuk, or— do you get my point? it has to be me!” his dark yet soft eyes meet changkyun’s first ones, “it has to be me because it can’t be you.”
“that’s easy for you to say! you may want to save us, but we want to save you just as much! it’s selfish to disregard our feelings like that just because you think it has to be you!”
the silence falls over them heavily, and wonho sighs at the tension, “there’s no use in fighting it, kyun. i’m sorry. i dont want to spend my last day here fighting with you,” it broke his heart to see the fire in changkyun’s eyes die out, but they both nod solemnly.
and the next day, wonho was dressed up in beauitful fabrics and was given many gifts to give to her, along with the main gift: his soul. and then he was gone.
he made his way to her temple just outside the village after saying goodbye to everyone. it was so heartbreaking to see the looks on all his friends faces, he couldn’t look any of them in the eye. and with a trembling step, he was now outside the village, and with a few more, he was at the steps of her temple. he takes a deep breath, before stepping inside.
the architecture of the temple was beautiful, golden fabrics and silky white pillars with a beauitful painting of stars in the dark night sky on the ceiling.
“hello?” he calls out, just to hear echos of his own voice. they swirl around his head, making him dizzy, but he catches himself before he falls, “i-i’m here as your soul, the sacrifice from the nearby village.”
still, no response, and when his head fills with a golden fog, he falls helplessly to his knees, his chest filling with the same fog, making him feel so lightheaded and dizzy, “w-wait, please d-don’t kill me!” he begs and that’s when he finally hears it.
“oh, poor angel,” your voice echos loudly, ringing in his ears, “shhhh, you will not die by my hand. you do not need to be as afraid as you are.”
he finally opens his eyes, trying and partially succeeding in seeing where the voice is coming from, “i— please... please,” all he makes out is a figure not of this world, unlike anything he’s ever seen or imagined.
“maybe it’s a bit superficial, but you’re quite... ethereal, dear, and i don’t wish i give you up just yet. give me your name, will you?”
a faint voice in the back of his head reminds him to never give his name, only to tell it, but he doesn’t hear it before his voice speaks before he can stop it, “wonho,” and you smile at him, and suddenly not a single worry passes through his head.
“well, dear wonho, stay still for me for just a second,” you lean in closer, and his eyes flutter shut as you kiss his forehead, it doesn’t feel like much of anything, but he feels his head pulsing (almost as if he was in pain... but without the pain) as you walk away, “there. now you have my mark.”
he can’t see it, but it’s a golden moon just above his right eyebrow, “what... what does it mean?” he notices the star necklace dangling from your neck, the stars upon your dress, the moons seemingly tattooed on your shoulders, but he’s sure they’re just marks of your goddess status.
“your soul is now connected to me. that’s all it means. now, those... gifts you brought. use those to satiate yourself for the time being,” you point to the expressive breads and fruits and wines he wouldn’t have even been allowed to touch back at the village.
“but those are for you...?” he mumbles confusedly, but you just shake your head with a smile. he sudden realizes how all his senses have started to come back to him, how he can see you better now, how he doesn’t hear the echoing of your voice anymore.
“i don’t need such things,” you mutter simply, “now, my angel: let me make arrangements for you, and you can eat in the meantime.”
“oh... okay...” he nods in a daze, watching you disappear into golden dust. the food he eats tastes sweeter and better than anything else he’s ever tasted in his life. the apple is crisp, the bread is so fluffy, he can’t help but be jealous of whoever’s daily life this is.
he spends a long time simply sitting there, almost sickly full from all the rich foods he ate.
“you have pretty eyes, you know,” your words are like a whisper in his ear, but when he turns, you’re quite far away, “i’ve never seen such beautiful and dark eyes, so rich like the night sky, in my entire existence.”
“you’re... really pretty too...” he mumbles, cursing the way you poetically described his eyes and he’s just speechless, but you seem to find it adorable.
“thank you, sweet angel. i’ve returned to you to say that i’ve prepared a bed for you. and i’d like to show you around, if you wouldn’t mind,” he shakes his head, because he genuinely doesn’t mind at all. all those hesistant thoughts disappear into thin air when he hears your voice.
the main hall is where he’s been the whole time, and it’s taller than it is wide or long. he gawks in complete awe at the spacey look of all the rooms you show him. it truly feels like he’s one of the stars in the sky, so floaty and enchanting.
he also doesn’t notices the cute sounds he makes when he’s excited or comfy and it’s adorable when he realizes your hear his little ‘wah’s and ‘oof’s. he gets so flustered, it’s quite endearing.
he excitedly tries to stumble into the next room, but your hand stops him, “that one’s off limits for now, my angel. the next one should be your bedroom, come along now.”
part of him is aching with curiousity, but the other part of him can’t help but give in. your voice is too soft, your demeanor is too gentle, you’re too merciful for you to be bad... at least to him.
the last room you show him is his bedroom. the bed is lined with silk sheets and a thick blanket that’s softer than anything he’s felt in his entire life. he lays down on it, and it genuinely feels like he’s sinking, like the bed his pulling him in, and he never wants to get up again.
“i take it you like the arrangements,” you giggle at his content smile, so warm and comfy in the comforts of your bed. he opens his eyes to gaze at the ceiling, full of stars and beautiful artistry, just like all the other rooms in this place.
“do you think i’ll be able to see them all again?” he asks with pleading eyes, begging for something he doesn’t verbalize. all of his friends, his mom, his world outside the pale walls of your temple.
“it’s possible, but i’m not sure i’d be able to.”
he makes an adorable face of confusion. you notice all the ways he’s so expressive, it’s like he can never hide his feelings because they’re written on his face, “what do you mean?”
“i believe... i’ve fallen for you. there’s a stronger urge to protect you than before with the others. and you’re just so adorable and endearing—” he gets flustered by your words, but that just spurs you on, “—like that!! you get so shy and it warms my heart.”
he looks lost as he tries to take it all in, but you hold your hand to his cheek, and his breathing seems to stop, so shocked and flustered, but you continue, “but i’ve never been able to love like this. and now i... i want to know what it’s like to love like a human, so freely and intensely and with all risks.”
“that’s why i’m still here, why you haven’t... made me...” he finishes your words, and you nod, leaning in closer to him, “when you said ‘to love like a human’, do you mean like—”
“yes,” you whisper, finishing the sentence for him. love, i want to love you. more than romantically, i want to love you until you can’t breathe. so faintly pressing your lips to his that you can still feel his shaky breathes and quiet pleas, “and i apologize for my actions and language, but i believe you’ve already fallen for me, sweet angel.”
his eyes glean with golden flakes in the irises as he stumbles just out of your touch slightly, in shock, “w-what do you mean?”
you chuckle, leaning in even closer, “here, i’ll show you. come, kiss me, for real this time,” he hesitates, but sits up to meet you in a kiss. it’s gentle at first, but when you tilt your head, you increase the passion in the kiss ten fold.
your free hand rubs his thigh and lightly touches his cock over the pants he wore and he moans into the kiss. suddenly your lips are on his neck, leaving golden marks on his honey skin, and he whimpers.
“i can still feel how nervous you are, baby angel. relax for me, i just want to make you feel good,” your voice is like a soft silky feeling in his ear, and all other sounds disappear.
“please don’t tease me,” he pouts, and you laugh sweetly, so endeared by his adorable expression, speeding up the pace of your hand jerking him off.
“i’m sorry, pretty angel. i won’t do it again,” your hand really starts to work him, and you press more kisses to his skin, covering him in small moons and stars, marks of your touch on him.
“i’m getting close...”he mumbles, not seemingly able to do much more than that as he gets closer and closer to letting go completely. poor thing’s barely been touched at all, but he’s gotten so worked up so easily. whether it’s because your touch is special, or because he’s just easy, it’s quite adorable, “gotta c-cum.”
“of course, sweet angel,” you smile sweetly as he closes his eyes, his whole body tensing up as he finally lets go, “let me fill you with euphoria, come on, cum for me,” he cums, getting the blanket and your hand all messy, but that’s nothing to worry about. the orgasm feels like nothing he’s ever felt before.
it leaves him floating in the clouds, so unaware of his surroundings or the way you clean him up, kiss his forehead once more, and just pull him close and hold him, “i can help you fall asleep, if need be, baby angel. just try to relax. you will be safe here for the rest of your days. i’m so, so sorry about everything that had to happen...
but you’re with me now, and what a beautiful star you are.”
...
this is wrong.
this isn’t what he’s supposed to be doing. he should be in his bed, with you, laying there until you decided to wake him. he should be basking the warmth your aura radiates, but instead he’s realizing just how cold it is in your temple when you’re not with him. he realizes how miserable feelings come back to him so quickly when he’s far enough from you, like you’re a drug he’s finally come down from.
and then he sees it: the forbidden room. he’s slightly afraid you might catch him, but you were sleeping sound next to him. there’s no way you could catch him. and even if you did, what’s the worst that could happen? you didn’t seem that scary, and he doesn’t know why, but the curiousity overwhelms him and he physically has no choice but to do it.
the second his hand collids with the door-handle, your voice is in his head. he can’t quite make out what you’re saying, but he lets go immediately, his knees giving out on him for a reason he can’t pin point.
“your soul will make a perfect star for me, wonho,” the words don’t even sound like you said them, but they echo through his head until he’s curled up in front of the door to the room, crying into his hands, begging for the echos to stop, begging for mercy, begging for what he doesn’t even know.
“and what a beautiful star you’ll be.”

matchup for drew  |  JJK
Request a matchup here
Tumblr media
Hey babe! So I match you up with....
 Inumaki Toge
Tumblr media
Look at this pretty boy like ughhh youre so lucky 😭
Inumaki is incredibly loyal-he wouldn’t ever ever give you a reason not to trust him
Also, don’t let his quietness fool you-he is a total trickster/prankster and will always be doing something silly to get you to laugh
He really likes training with you-to him it’s quite therapeutic and a great way to bond with you
But he’s cheeky at times if your doing close combat-he’ll just quickly plant a kiss on your cheeks to get you distracted so he can pin you down 💀
He thinks it’s amazing you’re so skilled in so many sports-it takes a lot to train, and he respects it a lot!
The one he really wanted you to teach him was rollerskating-one day he’d just walk into your room, hand holding a pair of new skates and just plainly saying “Tuna?”
Tuna meaning Please teach me, I know you’re busy but I’m bored and I just wanna have some fun please please please 🥺
He caught on to it really quickly, and in no time you two were blasting music and making trips to the grocery store for some sweets as quick little dates
Inumaki at one point tried to teach Panda and Maki, but Panda was totally decked out in headgear and shoulder pads and still ate shit every 2 seconds 💀
When he first met you, he honestly wasn’t really that intimidated
He still got that nervous rush of meeting someone new, but he was used to meeting intimidating girls-Nobara and Maki being perfect examples of that
Maki was so relieved to have another girl, and you two hit it off amazingly-you two would always be paired together cause you work great off each other as partners and as friends
Panda is just so lovingly protective for you, like if you feel uncomfy in public at times or just feel awkward in general, he’s right there to just give some support 🖤
He just approached you like he would with them, just a quick nod of his head and maybe a reply like “Bonito flakes” to be respectful
He is really intrigued by you-he’s naturally curious, how could he not when he has someone new and pretty in front of him~
But he gave you space, not wanting to intrude or make you uncomfy
But once you begin to open up, OH MY GOD he is so happy!
You get along well with his friends, it’s almost hard to imagine you not being in there friend group at one point-
Whenever something makes you smile, he starts noticing it makes him feel all fluttery inside,,,
Or when he is able to make you chuckle, he finds himself smiling but so grateful he’s able to hide his cheeks with his clothing-
He isn’t oblivious, he obviously knows he caught feelings but he’s super scared to say anything
Cause-how could he even tell you? It’s not like he could just walk up to you and say “Let’s go on a date-“
You could say no and reject him....or even worse, he could make a terrible choice of words and force you on a date by accident with his cursed technique
The 2nd option was too terrifying to him, so he opted to text you a picture of him holding a sign that says “Date?” like a prom proposal, his lilac eyes unable to look at the screen
He definitely begged Panda to take it, cause the picture was pretty fuzzy and theres a furry finger on a corner of the photo
But you thankfully said yes, and Inumaki took you to a roller skating rink, thinking you’d feel comfortable there to hang out. Which was a great plan, until Toge realized he didn’t know how to rollerskate
Panic ensues
The whole time he was desperately trying to repeat to himself “Don’t fall, don’t fall, don’t fall-“ and still look cool at the same time 💀
It was still cute though, and after you helping him out a bit he caught on very quickly
Still did fall a few times, but when you would giggle and help him up he felt a lot better about it 🥺
Needless to say, was probably the main reason he asked you later on to teach him how to skate properly 💀
And also the main reason your guys’ second date was at a very flat forest with little shrines and fish ponds to look into
Inumaki reallllyyyy craves physical touch, but he never forces it upon you
At the beginning of your relationship, it was really delicate touches, from intertwining pinkies to resting his head on your shoulder
But then it slowly became more and more as you two got more comfortable
This dude will just full on run behind you and wrap his arms around you if hes tired
Or snatch your hand and squeeze it tightly if hes afraid you might be in danger
Does this really cute thing where he puts his forehead on yours and stays there for a sec- dont ask him why he does it, he’ll start blushing but he just likes feeling close to you like that  🥺

Drabble:
“Toge, what are you doing-and when did you get those?” you questioned, your eyes scrunched up in confusion as you eyed the white haired boy in front of you.
Inumaki was standing in your doorway, his jacket zipped up fully so only his violet eyes were visible. In his hands were a pair of roller skates, the wheels a clear plastic while the shoes being a periwinkle blue.
All he did was simply walked into your room, knowing it like the back of hand from countless visits as he picked up your skates that had been left on the floor from the day before. He simply held out both pairs, one simple word of “Tuna” presented out of his mouth.
Your eyebrows furrowed even more, head tilting slightly as you shifted on your bed.
What the hell did he want you to....
“Do you want me....to teach you how to roller skate?”
You saw him instantly light up, obviously ecstatic you had understood him so quickly. He simply nodded his head once as confirmation, violet eyes wide with relief and anticipation.
Inumaki had been bristling to get back in those skates after he had done such a disastrous attempt at your first date. Everytime he thought about how much he had fallen he always internally cringed, almost able to still feel the bruises on his rear that lasted days after.
You had looked so graceful and so happy that day, like you were gliding on top of water as you did laps around the rink or simply to just pick him off the ground after he had eaten shit. He wanted to be able to do that with you, to be able to have picnic dates at the park or just glide over to a store to buy some sweets and ice cream-he had so many cute ideas planned it was almost overwhleming.
He just needed to learn how to skate without painting his body in bruises first.
“Oh, Toge, Im so sorry-” he heard you saw, his heart falling slightly at the sound of guilt in your voice, “but I have some assingments I have to finish....maybe we can do it this weekend?”
That happy expression he had had a few moments before faltered slightly, his lips pursed and nose scrunched under his jacket.
But Inumaki was persistent-he wasnt one to take no for an answer, especially when he knew how to get what he wanted with a few dirty tricks.
Toge took a few steps towards you, his knee landing on top of your bed and making it dip under his weight, wrapping his arms around you in an inescapable hug.
Inumaki was pretty clever, as he knew it was hard for you to resist him when he was being clingy. He simply nuzzled his head into the crook of your neck, white hair tickling your jawline, hands squeezing your sides gently.
You sighed, rolling your eyes slightly with an amused smirk as your propped yourself on your elbows and looked down at your boyfriend, who was clearly milking it to get what he wanted.
“Youre not gonna let go unti l say yes, huh?”
Inumaki picked his head up, violet eyes soft yet mischeivously as he shook his head gently-
This brat wasnt going to let go until you did exactly what he wanted.
You sighed exaperatedly, looking up at the ceiling as you felt Inumaki chuckle against your stomach.
“Fine then...” you gave in, finding it adorable how quickly his face light up.
“-But you have to buy me snacks and be my study partner for the rest of the night.”
Toge instantly smiled, the crinkles of the expression showing around his eyes. Getting you to teach him how to roller skate, and have a study date right after? This day was getting better and better for him.
“Salmon!” he agreed quickly, shuffling off of your form and handing you your skates- you were going to make him a pro after today, and he was more than ready.

we spent two years together, i thought in made her better.
(tws: death, violence, panic attacks)
jack manifold loses his last life on december sixteenth, and he crawls out of hell on the same day.
he has never stood down. he’s a stubborn bastard and he knows that, and he knows that standing against fucking technoblade is a bad idea, and he doesn’t care, because he won’t let him destroy his home.
technoblade looks him in the eye, laughs in his face, and drives an axe down the center of his skull.
>
he doesn’t quite register dying, doesn’t quite register the feeling of falling to the ground.
he does register pain. he does register overwhelming panic. he comes to laying on the ground, blood stuck to his scalp and in his eyes, rubble scratching his back.
he keens in pain, sits up slowly. he rubs his eyes, resting his head in his hands. he thinks, dimly, that everything seems dulled. explosions and screams in the background, the feeling of his hands on his face, the chill in the air. he can hardly feel any of it. he edges himself behind a large piece of rubble, safe from the conflict for now.
panic courses through his veins. what happened?
he grasps at his arms, curling in on himself. everything feels wrong. everything feels wrong.
his breath quickens as he grows hysterical. tears start to fall as he hiccups, and as they trickle down his face he can barely even feel them.
and then it stops.
his hand flies to his throat. he tries to start breathing again, but as the seconds pass he finds he doesn’t even need it.
oh god, he’s dead. he’s really fucking dead. is he a ghost?
“oh god,” he chokes, curling in even further into himself.
“hello?” someone else’s voice calls. he doesn’t bother sitting up.
“jack?” the voice continues, then, “oh fuck, jack!”
someone touches his arm, and he craves the contact. he can still hardly feel it, but he leans into it, arms wrapping around him and holding him so tight it would probably hurt, before.
“i’m so glad you’re ok,” they whisper. who is it? whose voice is that?
“niki.” his voice sounds raspy, contaminated from smoke and tnt and death.
“yes, yes, i’m here,” she chokes, and he can tell, faintly, that she’s crying. “you’re ok.”
he nods into her shoulder. he wants it to be true, but it can’t be. he can barely hear her over the ringing in his ears.
“i thought you were dead, i’ve been looking for you. how long have you been back here? didn’t you hear me calling for you?”
he almost snorts. what can he say?
her hand moves from his shoulders, cupping around the back of his head. she massages a thumb over the nape of his neck where she used to when he got upset. her thumb brushes over dried blood and he can feel it flake off.
her hand stills. “jack, you’re so cold. are you ok?”
he coughs. “i’m sorry, niki.”
he pulls back, looks her in the face. her eyes are sad.
“jack, please tell me what happened. what’s going on?”
“i died,” he breathes. a shiver runs through him as the realization hits him like a ton of bricks. oh god, he fucking died. he grasps for purchase on her arms, grounding himself as best he can. she grips him back.
a combination of confusion and horror fills her face. “you didn’t have any lives left, how…”
he shakes his head. a hysterical laugh bubbles from his chest. “i don’t fucking know, niki, i don’t fucking know.”
she cups his face then pulls him into a tight hug. “you’re gonna be ok, jack. we’re gonna be ok.”
>
it’s a hard thing, adjusting to death.
for one, he’s constantly cold. not only his temperature, but also his skin. it’s cold, clammy like a corpse. niki says it feels weird, but he can’t exactly tell. he piles on layers, spends as much time as he can in front of the fire and trying to warm the constant chill in his core, but it doesn’t work.
he doesn’t breathe anymore. occasionally he’ll hiccup or gasp, as if his brain is trying to kickstart his body again, and he’ll sit in silence for a few minutes while nothing but pure panic floods his brain, telling him something is deeply wrong. the first time it happens, tubbo slams on his back thinking he’d choked, and jack devolves into a vicious panic attack before tubbo even has a chance to realize.
he doesn’t need to eat, and he physically can’t sleep. he didn’t realize how much people slept, before, and now he finds himself sitting on the snowchester porch in the early morning and realizing how lonely the world is.
he can hardly feel much of anything, and he can hear even less. his vision’s gone a bit fuzzy, too. it feels like his senses have started closing in on himself, and it’s terrifying.
the others have adapted, and he’s thankful. if niki comes up behind him, she’ll grab his arm hard, and tubbo will usually pinch him or slap the back of his head so he knows he’s there.
he’s decided not to tell tubbo. the kid doesn’t deserve that. he doesn’t need to know, long as jack doesn’t start falling apart like some sort of zombie. he’s pretty sure tubbo just thinks he’s traumatized, or that he’s lost some of his hearing from explosions like tubbo has.
and, well, he’s not exactly wrong.
>
it’s niki who starts it. they’re sitting around the fireplace, jack as close as he can get to try to get rid of the chill, and she says,
“you know, when you think about it, it’s all kind of tommy’s fault.”
resentment has been festering since tommy killed him, so he’s not exactly shocked, just curious. “what d’you mean?”
“he’s caused so much trouble on the server, and now he’s just gotten away with it.” niki sounds angry, and when she sounds angry it’s never good, so he turns to look her in the eye. she’s practically shaking. “he needs to suffer for it like we did.”
when he was alive, he woke up from nightmares almost every night of drowning in lava, of burning while tommy laughed and sneered and laughed, and now it only solidifies. he hates him.
it’s tommy’s fault he’s dead. if tommy hadn’t killed him, he wouldn’t be dead now.
niki stumbles to her feet and falls to her knees in front of him, pulling him into a desperate hug.
he’s not sure if he can cry anymore, but the feeling’s there all the time as he clings to niki, grasping tightly to her shirt, and she pulls his head to her shoulder, curls around him protectively.
they stay there for a long time. every once in a while, niki will murmur an assurance. after long enough the words mutate, transform into something nasty, slimy.
“he’ll pay for this.”
>
the nukes are divisive. jack doesn’t want tubbo to get hurt. niki doesn’t want jack to get hurt. they both want tommy to get hurt.
he’s not sure when it changed into “kill him.” he’s not sure when it turned from a want to yell, to hit, to wanting to destroy him with nukes, but the anger is fire deep in his chest, the only thing he can feel, and he wants it to continue burning.
niki says she doesn’t want jack to get hurt.
“it’s not like i can get more dead,” he sneers. he doesn’t want to hurt her. he wants to hurt everyone.
>
tubbo can tell there’s something wrong. he can tell it in the way he rests his hand on jack’s back, even when he can’t feel it, in the way he stays up late and gets up early to spend time with him.
he comes up behind him, early one morning, and wraps his arms around jack’s chest. he buries his head in jack’s back and squeezes him tight. jack jumps at first, but soon relaxes into the content.
he can’t hear tubbo’s sobs, as quiet as they are, but he can almost feel the shaking of his shoulders.
“what’s wrong?” he asks, hesitant in case he’s reading it wrong. tubbo could be laughing, for all his addled senses can tell, but he deep down he knows. he can barely hear tubbo’s reply.
“i’m worried something is going to happen to you.”
something has already happened, he wants to yell. you just missed it.
he knows, faintly, that it’s not tubbo’s fault. tubbo doesn’t know, because he’s never told him, but he wants someone to focus on him, for once. he wants someone to realize, without him telling them. he wants someone to pay attention.
tubbo’s not that person. tubbo has friends, and a nation or two, and a history that extends beyond ‘stay alive.’
he pulls away, gently, promises something or other about him being fine, and goes back to planning destruction.
>
their plan doesn’t work. tommy shows up only thirty seconds late, while the crater is still smoking.
jack can’t help but feel like the universe is working against him.
niki is fuming. she’s shaking in anger, standing at the edge of the crater and staring at it, and jack goes to put his hand on her shoulder. she pulls away.
>
niki comes to join him on the porch that night. he doesn’t know she’s there until she says,
“why do you spend so much time out here?”
he doesn’t know how to explain that it’s comforting, being out in the cold, alone when he knows everyone is safe inside. he’s become a sentry almost accidentally, taking care of the only two people in the world he still cares about. he doesn’t know how to explain how comforting and devastating it is, and he doesn’t know how to explain that the cold calms him, so he just shrugs. she always understands him, anyways, or so he hopes.
she doesn’t stay outside for long.
>
he wonders, sometimes, if he’s doing something wrong. tommy and tubbo are still friends, somehow, even after everything. jack doesn’t know how to ask if tommy’s ever apologized. tubbo’s always had a heart too painfully big, so he kind of doubts it.
tommy’s never apologized to him. he’s not sure if he’d ever accept it.
he watches puffy and niki get pulled apart, and cringes a bit more each time niki comes home crying. he doesn’t know how to ask her if she still thinks they’re in the right.
he can tell she’s not sure either. maybe none of them are.
>
puffy approaches him one day. it’s her first time visiting snowchester, and her white first gleams in the sunlight reflecting off the snow. he’s at his usual post, and he gives her a half-hearted wave as he sees her.
she returns it, but her face is grim. she comes to stand beside him.
“i know what you’re trying to do,” she says, quietly, and he has to strain to hear her. he pretends he didn’t all the same.
“sorry. hearing loss.”
she gives him a look, but raises her voice all the same. “niki says it’s a bit more than that.”
he balks, stumbles back a few feet on the wood of the porch and almost his balance. puffy reaches out and steadies him. “pardon?”
“i’m sorry about what happened to you, jack,” she starts. he can’t tell what emotions he’s feeling, but it’s overwhelming. he tries to think of something to say, but she continues before he can force the words out.
her hand on his wrist twists, and he tries to pull it away when he realizes she’s searching for his pulse. she holds on, then her face tightens and she yanks him into a hug.
they’ve had hardly more than two conversations, but he feels safe in her embrace. he holds on tight, and she runs a hand through his short-shaven hair.
“i know you’re hurting,” she says, and he knows he’s made a mistake.
>
jack finds tommy back near l’manburg. it took him a couple more weeks to even gather up the courage, but eventually he spoke to niki.
he tries not to think about the conversation.
tommy seems surprised to see him, but they settle at the edge of the crater.
tommy looks better than the last time he saw him. he tries not to be jealous.
“i think i owe you an apology,” he says. tommy balks.
“what? i owe you an apology,” he comes back with. “i fucking killed you!”
“i tried to kill you too,” he starts, but tommy cuts him off.
“it was kinda deserved. can we just agree not to anymore?” he sticks out his hand.
jack smiles.
snowchester seems warmer, that night.

post-war ba sing se bimbo headcanons
so zuko becomes the firelord, and jin and jet think it’s hilarious. he’s so good at it. he’s so charismatic. they’re like “who the hell is this guy? when did he get mature and responsible???” and song’s like “when zuko wasn’t doing stupid shit, he was stopping you two from doing stupid shit, i saw this coming a mile away.”
jin joins the kyoshi warriors, and is overwhelmed by all the pretty girls she’s working with, but for the most part it becomes a sisterhood. she will forever and always have a severe crush on suki, however, and really, can you blame her? so when suki reciprocates, jin writes song a four-page essay about it.
anyway, when zuko asks the warriors to come to the capital, obviously jin’s there, too. jet and song show up almost immediately after jin does.
“what, you two are hanging out without us now?” song asks them accusatorily. “it’s not fair that only you get to see jin, zuko.”
“yeah,” jet says. “and i used to see zuko shirtless a few times a week. and i thought i was lucky! now jin’s a kyoshi warrior and she gets to see it every day?”
“she does not!” says zuko. “yeah,” says jin, while shaking her head the opposite.
attempts on zuko’s life are about as common as rain showers, so song starts testing basically everything he eats with some of her chemicals. every time she finds something insidious, she tracks down every link in the chain that got the food to him, and finds a way to rectify the situation. she doesn’t trouble zuko with this, because he’s got enough going on. also, he probably maybe wouldn’t approve of her methods.
(song is not inherently violent, but when it comes to her family, she’s downright vicious).
jet wants to get in on the action, but between song’s disarming sweetness and the kyoshi warrior’s intimidation, zuko’s basically protected. what he isn’t, is good with people.
zuko can make grand dramatic speeches all day long, but when it comes to the council, or local government officials, or merchants, or literally even jet, he’s the same awkward kid jet met on the boat to ba sing se.
“you are never going to make it as firelord.” jet tells him from the couch he’s lounging on while he watches zuko practice a very basic interaction in the mirror.
“okay, fuck you, too.” zuko says miserably.
“sorry, i wasn’t clear,” jet says, standing beside zuko. “you are never going to make it as firelord without me.”
jet tries in vain to get zuko to lie better, to present himself differently, to deceive just a little bit, but it just isn’t happening. zuko doesn’t even want to lie, he doesn’t want to be like his father and azula, so they take a different approach.
instead, jet teaches him how to spot liars, and how to play the game. it’s basic stuff, like let silence linger because they’ll want to fill it if they’re afraid you don’t believe them. ask them bizarre questions so they overcorrect. if they’re complimenting you too much, they’re trying to deceive you.
to jet, it’s survival. to zuko, it’s like a whole world has opened up he never knew about. he hangs on to jet’s every word, and at the end, he asks that jet join him in council meetings, naming him an ambassador from the earth kingdom.
this is how jet discovers that he’s AMAZING at politics. he can’t believe how easy it is. he considers taking it up as a hobby when he gets back to the earth kingdom.
“you can’t do politics as a hobby,” zuko says.
“why not?” jet says. “it’s just fun. it’s not what i’m meant to be doing forever though.”
“do you have a mysterious job back in the earth kingdom none of us know about?” asks jin.
“yes,” says song, irritable from today’s batch of poison discoveries, “he’s working full-time as a little bitch.”
the more meetings jet attends, the more he wonders if politics really is for what he’s meant. arguing and debating delights him and, unlike the exhausted zuko, he leaves the debates feeling energized. but it just feels so bureaucratic, so useless compared to what he did during the war.
he’s so torn about it that he finally asks song for advice.
“i don’t know anything about politics,” she says tiredly. he’s playing idly with her hair after she’s had a long day of Keeping Zuko Alive. “why are you asking me?”
“because you don’t hold back,” jet tells her. “because you let me know when i’ve gone too far.”
song’s glad it’s dark in the lounge, because she can’t believe she’s blushing.
“well,” she says finally. “what would you be in it for?”
“what do you mean?” he says. “i just like it.”
“do you like the attention?” song asks. “are you just interested in the drama of it all? or do you want to make a difference?”
“i want to make a difference,” he says confidently. “i want to help the earth kingdom.”
“well, then, there’s your answer,” song says.
“yeah,” jet agrees. “no politics for me.”
“wait, what?” song asks him, because how did he reach that conclusion?
“it’s just smooth talking and paperwork. it’s not gonna help the earth kingdom,” jet tells her. “i’m not selling out.”
“is that what you think zuko’s doing?” she asks.
“of course not,” jet says, rolling his eyes. “but he’s also the firelord. that’s different.”
“and he’s your best friend,” she reminds him. “and you also happen to be on good terms with the avatar and the leaders of the southern water tribe, so you know you have influential people who will hear you out. if you want to make a difference, this is probably the best way.”
he’s quiet for a while. he almost looks disappointed.
“not every battle is on the battlefield, jet,” song says gently. “it’s not as glamorous, or as dangerous. it’s tedious and difficult and boring. but it’s what’s left, after the war.”
“i guess that’s the thing,” jet says sadly. “i don’t know who i am without the war.”
“i do,” song says with so much sincerity jet almost blushes. almost. he’s still, like, cool.
if they fall into a routine where song fixes his hair into something presentable for council meetings and jet forces her to take a break and enjoy the sunshine once in a while, zuko and jin don’t feel it’s necessary to comment.
for like three days.
“you stole my boyfriend,” zuko accuses song after catching her and jet kissing. the fact that sokka’s napping with his head in zuko’s lap as he says so doesn’t seem to faze him.
“you stole my ostrich horse,” she says, for the last time ever, “so now we’re even.”
“what’s with you and guys with weird facial hair?” jin asks as she stuffs her face with fire flakes, her new favorite treat. “first haru and now jet?”
“haru?” jet squeaks.
“i liked haru’s moustache,” song says thoughtfully. “i thought it made him look mature.”
“at least if jet grew a moustache i’d understand what everyone sees in him,” sokka says sleepily. “no offense.”
“you’re just mad i kissed zuko first,” huffs jet.
jet stops shaving that week. everyone notices.
when song and jet finally prepare to go back to the earth kingdom, jet privately asks zuko if it’s true that he and aang are considering founding a city that unites the nations. zuko tells him it is.
“well, i want in. whenever that is,” he says, and jet and zuko hug.
song and her mother open up a hospital and sanctuary that specifically caters to displaced families. jet reunites with longshot and smellerbee, and they drift around but tend to come back to the sanctuary. they often go out on missions to try and reunite families. it’s not quite fighting, and it’s not quite peace, so it’s a good transition for jet and his freedom fighters.
eventually, things slow down and so does jet. he starts walking around the village they’re located in without his weapons. a child asks song where she got the scars on her leg, and when she explains it was a firebender, the child says “oh, did he get in trouble?” song laughs and laughs, because for the first time in years, there are children who don’t know war.
jin doesn’t stay as a kyoshi warrior forever, but she does decide to settle down on kyoshi. she never really wanted the dangerous life, she just wanted some adventure and sort of stumbled into the chaos of jet and song and zuko. the quiet island is perfect for her. she still stirs up trouble once in a while though.
“COME GET YOUR IDIOT SHE TRIED TO RIDE THE UNAGI.” suki writes in two identical letters, one to jet and song and one to zuko.
“okay, whatever suki tells you, i want you to know she’s lying. i DID ride the unagi and it was SICK. sokka was here recently and said someone invented an image-capture thing is that true? because if it is i want you to bring one and come here ASAP so i can do it AGAIN.” says the fervent letter from jin that arrived three days after suki’s.
jet and song arrive promptly, song laden with medical supplies and a sternly-worded letter from her mother to jin. jet brings a camera.
zuko shows up a few days later with the latest in camera technology and a photographer, as well as his one-year-old daughter. he goes all-out because this is his and izumi’s first trip together. jet grumbles about being one-upped.
“you’re the firelord, you’re gonna encourage this?” song asks him, eyes furious but voice sweet as she plays with izumi. “excuse me, song, but the war is over, i have no jurisdiction here. if an earth kingdom citizen wants to exercise her right to be a dumbass she’s more than welcome to,” says zuko in his most diplomatic voice.
“and,” he adds more gently, “i missed you guys.” song still thinks he’s being ridiculous, but she gives him a big hug anyway.
zuko has to firebend at the unagi to stop it from eating jin and song is left to mend jin’s broken arm. jet takes pictures throughout the entire thing, from her climbing onto the creature, to getting thrown, to being bandaged up and laughs the whole time. song produces a second letter written by her mother which she was instructed only to give to jin in the event she rode the unagi.
all it says in neat hand-writing is, “i told you so. now come home so i can feed you, you ridiculous child.”
“i’m 24,” pouts jin, but since she’s the youngest, the group agrees heartily with song’s mother.
the five of them go to the sanctuary, where iroh is drinking tea with song’s mother and trading stories about their new respective lives.
zuko has to return to the capital in three days, iroh’s got his tea shop to run, and jin isn’t planning on staying long because her “super hot girlfriend is doing something extremely sexy” and she has to get back soon.
“jin, please, just talk normal for once in your life,” zuko begs her, bouncing izumi on his lap. “fine,” she says, “she’s being voted in as the leader of the island and i want to be there for the ceremony.”
jet realizes it’s not often he’ll have all the people he loves in one place, and quietly asks song something important.
they get married the night before zuko and jin leave, in front of jet’s freedom fighters and song’s mother and iroh. jin and zuko stand as their maid of honor and best man. zuko cries.
for the first time in almost two decades, all of them start to feel at peace.
ty so much for this au @azenkii writing about it is one of the most enjoyable experiences haha. is this update softer than usual? yes, of course, it’s what they deserve.

The Only Compass I Need
Well as you've all been good VDL-gang hoes and as it's my birthday today as promised here's my longer fic for Arthur Morgan/Original Female Character. It's been edited and checked by my lovely partner, but I will always appreciate any comments or feedback. Hope you all have a wonderful day and thank you for making this fandom always such a delight to be in!
Tumblr media
Summary: Ruth Shelton has been running with the Anderson Boys for many years, but when she and her daughter, Daisy, are abandoned in a snowy cabin in the West Grizzlies, she must come to terms with being left behind by people she thought she could trust and rely on. Determined to keep herself and her daughter alive, she will do anything it takes to ensure a better future for Daisy, but runs into trouble and has to rely on another gang to keep them safe.
Rating: Explicit
You can read it on AO3 too!
‘Ma?’ Daisy looked up from the newspaper she was busy colouring in, and Ruth tried not to close her eyes in frustration. Daisy had asked her the same question almost every night, just before dinner, ‘When’s Pa coming back?’
Ruth poked the remnants of the fire in the grate, willing the small, crackling flame to finish cooking the rabbit she had trapped. She didn’t risk gathering more wood with the evening rapidly growing dark. In the small, run down cabin the frigid wind of the West Grizzlies whistled through the gaps in the walls. Outside the first few flakes of a spring snow storm drifted lazily through the navy-blue sky.
She pulled the moth-eaten blanket they had found abandoned in one of the bedrooms around her and her daughter’s shoulders. She tried to ignore the twisting, painful feeling in her gut and the hot burn of tears that found their way to her eyes. How dare he, how dare he leave his daughter.
Two weeks. For two weeks they had sat in this cramped, dirty, broken little hut and waited. She had wondered after the first week whether he was dead or injured. She still liked to think the best of Frans, even though the man was unkind and impatient with her, and had cared so little for his daughter that on good days he would ignore her and on worse days shove her away. But by the time they reached the second week, with no one from the gang even attempting to find her, she realised that they’d been abandoned. Perhaps Frans hoped that the cold weather or starvation would get rid of a problem he could no longer stomach.
‘I don’t think he’s coming back,’ Ruth replied, her voice flat and distant. She coughed a little, clearing her throat, Daisy didn’t need to see or hear her mother’s resentment or pain.
‘Oh,’ came Daisy’s response. She resumed colouring in a picture of a man wearing a top hat, choosing a vibrant green for him.
Ruth poked the rabbit on the small grill, and sighed. Perhaps she was still clinging onto the vague hope that Frans might change his mind. Daisy seemed to idolise the man, no matter how poorly he treated her, and Ruth wanted her daughter to be right about him.
‘Tonight, we’re going to pack up what we can,’ Ruth said. ‘Then tomorrow we’ll ride Freyja somewhere warmer. If your father wants to find us, he will do.’
‘But Pa said to stay here.’
‘Well, he can’t expect us to stay with the cold weather coming in, and there’s very little food here. He’ll understand.’
‘How will he know where we’ve gone? We can’t leave him a note.’
‘We can leave him a message. He’ll just have to find someone else who can read it for him. Hopefully, when he turns up Edgar or Josef will be with him.’
‘Why hasn’t Edgar come?’ Daisy asked, scratching her nails against the waxy, green crayon. Ruth pulled it from her hands.
‘Don’t do that, they were expensive. I don’t know.’
Daisy began to draw wiggly lines under the words in the paper, the yellowing pages now being covered with purple, red and blue. She looked back up, ‘Ok.’
‘I’ve always promised to tell you the truth, haven’t I?’
‘Yes.’
‘So, I would tell you, if I knew where your father was, if I knew where Edgar was or if I knew where anyone was.’
Daisy carefully put her red crayon down on the page, then began to put the crayons back in the little tin she kept all her priceless possessions in. A dried daisy flower from Edgar, a blue-green marble she had found in Blackwater and a yellow, silk ribbon dotted with daisies that Ruth had brought her for her birthday last year.
Not for the first time, Ruth felt the twinge of guilt that always followed when seeing the few treasured items in Daisy’s tin. She wanted to give Daisy a home, a proper home with her own bedroom and toys, clothes that fit her properly, a warm fireplace and a door that could be locked and bolted shut.
‘Dinner will take a while, Sweetpea, you don’t have to put away your things just yet.’
‘Oh,’ Daisy said once more. ‘Well, can I help?’
‘There ain’t much to do, rabbit will be done in a bit.’
Daisy pulled up the newspaper and sat down in front of Ruth. The girl squinted at it with her light blue eyes in the low light, and began to read aloud the main story, sounding out the words she was unfamiliar with. ‘Bank boat… he… he--is--t? Ma, what’s a he--is--t?’
‘A he--is--t?’ Ruth glanced down at the newspaper, trying to figure out what her daughter was looking at. ‘Oh, a heist. It means a robbery.’
‘Like what Pa does?’
‘Yes,’ she looked back down to the story, to see if it was the Anderson Boys who were involved, but as she read, it became clear it was about the Van Der Linde Gang rather than her own. She frowned at the idea of still claiming the gang as her own. Evidently Anderson was not too heart-broken about her disappearance, despite how long she had been running with them. But then Anderson often called her a damned fool for getting in the family way and hadn’t exactly tried to keep her around. Perhaps it was better this way, to be abandoned and left to her own devices rather than trailing behind, trying to pretend that the group she had once called her family still cared for her.
The rabbit was done… charred on the outside, bloody in the middle. But when had that ever bothered her? Certainly, Daisy had learnt long ago that an empty belly was a far worse fate than a dissatisfied one. She tried to get Daisy to part with a bit of the newspaper, so she could lay the best bits on it for her and cause less of a mess when using her fingers to tear at the meat.
While Ruth gnawed at what remained on the bones, she checked their supplies. Two cans of beans, one can of peaches and a tin of crackers. They would share one tin of beans for their breakfast tomorrow, then they would have to hope she could catch or kill something for their midday meal, and assuming she could find the way, arrive in Valentine by four or five. She was banking on the weather being good, and the roads clear, otherwise it could take them longer and she had no desire to spend a cold night in unfamiliar woods.
She packed away the supplies, then made sure the repeater and pistols she carried were cleaned and loaded correctly. Ruth frowned on seeing how few bullets she had left in the box of ammo. This was going to be a rough few days. Every shot she could make would have to be perfect, no matter whether it was man or beast at the end of the sights.
She also double-checked how much money they had left, perhaps hoping the amount would increase on the next count. It would be better if she could get her daughter a warm bath and a hot meal when they arrived, even if she couldn’t afford a bed for the night. Ruth tried to not let the hiss of irritation pass between her lips. Anderson had always been insistent that any money made was money for the group, and while that had meant she could dip in and out of the funds box with relative ease, it had come back to bite her.
Her last job had pulled $150, but the vast majority of that had ended up in the box. Now she was looking at the grand total of ten years of loyalty and very few complaints from her, no matter how poorly her daughter was treated. She had $8.05.
‘We might have to do a coach job when we get to Valentine,’ she said.
Daisy pulled a face, a deep frown appearing on her forehead. ‘Do we have to?’
‘Do you want to eat?’
‘Can’t we just eat deer?’
‘No, it’s not good to eat nothing but meat.’
‘But I’m getting bigger now. I don’t want to pretend to be a little kid who cries.’
‘You just have to put your hands over your eyes and pretend. You’re so good at it! And it means Mama doesn’t have to shoot anyone.’
Ruth finished the last bits of rabbit on her side of the newspaper and looked at the peaches, tempted to break into them and at least give her daughter something sweet to eat. But there was no guarantee they would even reach Valentine tomorrow, especially with how strong the wind was howling and how quickly the temperature was dropping.
Daisy nestled closer under the blanket and picked up some more of the rabbit. ‘Who have you shot, Mama?’
‘Lots of people, who wanted to hurt me or you, Edgar or Josef or Anders.’
‘And Pa?’
Ruth wiped her dirty hands on her handkerchief, leaving streaks of grease on the discoloured material. She avoided her daughter’s eye as she replied, ‘Sure, your Pa too.’ In her head she found herself thinking, ‘wish I hadn’t bothered, bastard didn’t deserve my protection.’
She used a corner of the newspaper to clean the grease away from Daisy’s mouth, then grabbed a comb from her bag. She sat Daisy on her lap and began to gently untangle the knots at the end of her hair, before working upwards to the crown of her head and brushing through Daisy’s beautiful, golden brown hair.
At first, admittedly, it had hurt to see how much Daisy took after her father in looks, but they couldn’t be more different. Whilst her father was dismissive, callous and cowardly, Daisy was sweet, kind and brave. Braver than most kids her age, though Ruth wished she didn’t have to be.
She carefully plaited Daisy’s long hair, admiring the soft strands between her fingers, and finished off their little ritual by giving her a kiss on her cheek and then tickling her ribs. Daisy squealed and giggled, trying to bat away Ruth’s hands and yet still cuddling close once she was done.
‘Still little enough for that then?’ Ruth asked.
‘Hmph,’ came her daughter’s response and Ruth hid her smile. She felt torn, part of her was excited to see how much her daughter would change and grow over the years. But another part longed to go back to when she had been a baby, when her cheeks had been round and soft, and Ruth had easily spent the best part of her days pressing kisses to them. What did it matter that Frans was fucking whores and spending his money on drink and cards, when she had a baby in her arms, whose steady, sweet eyes gazed up at her with all the adoration and love she needed?
Another part, a part she tried not to think about, was terrified. What kind of a life was this for a child? Running from the law, hiding in abandoned houses and cabins, stealing and cheating to keep them both fed? This life was dangerous for anyone at the best of times, but for a child even more so. Daisy’s young age would not stop the law from punishing her, no matter how little choice she had in growing up in a gang and running schemes with her mother. But it was either involve Daisy, or leave her in a cave or up a tree, and that didn’t necessarily mean she was any safer, especially if someone were to find her.
She pushed away those thoughts; it wasn’t helpful to dwell on their situation. She hoped to be a good moral guide later in life for her daughter, but right now she would have to continue to be a hypocrite.
‘Bed time, Daisy,’ she said.
Daisy didn’t make a word of protest, as she was occasionally keen on doing, and took off her boots, before climbing into Ruth’s bedroll. Ruth joined her; it was too cold for their separate beds. While Daisy snuggled up against her, pulling the cover over head, Ruth threw their last remaining wood on the fire.
She grabbed her pistol and repeater, leaving the repeater next to the bedroll, but holding the pistol tightly. She kept her eyes on the front door, which they blocked with the dining table during the evenings. She had moved the wardrobe from the main bedroom to block the back door, and so felt comfortable enough to sleep with their backs to it.
She did her best to keep her eyes open, resisting sleep for as long as possible, until she drifted off and then woke with a sudden jolt to find the piercing, white light of a new day filtering between the bits of rotten wood and around the edge of the door.

Firen Lhain: Chapter 807: Streak:  Part I / III
Yang walked atop the wall up to where Blake was squatted over, looking around the parapet to those on the ground outside the wall. Yang slumped against the parapet.
"From up here," Blake stated, "they almost seem like not so monstrous." She looked down at Cinder seeming to enjoy life, with Mercury and Emerald trailing behind her.
"So, uh?" Yang asked, and Blake leaned back until she was fully hidden behind the parapet. "Big, kind of big news." Blake just looked at her questioningly. "Okay, so, Jaune just said the Little Bit can sleep in our closet. And, when we're, you know? She'll be allowed to, you know?" Blake just looked at her. "What do you think of this?"
"What you mean?" Blake soulfully asked her, and slumped up against the parapet with her. "Is how do you feel?"
"Part of me is like bitter and jealous." Yang said.
"And the other half?" Blake asked her.
"Like really hot, I mean..." Yang tried to say.
"I saw this coming from a mile away." Blake said to her.
"You what?" Yang asked, "How could you?"
"Little Bit did tell us exactly what she wants." Blake replied, "And we're giving her almost exactly what she wants. Jaune doesn't want to do anything with her..."
"You sure about that?" Yang asked, and Blake rolled her eyes before lovingly looking back into hers.
"Intellectually." Blake stated.
"And, you know, physically?" a nervous Yang asked.
Blake developed a wide smile and even wider grin. "If we weren't keeping him so satisfied..." Blake salaciously said, trailing off and looking Yang soulfully into her eyes. "But seriously, having four wives is a bit too much for him."
"That's putting it mildly." Yang said. Blake looked at her with bright eyes in affirmation.
"He's certainly not looking to add to the harem." she voiced, "Maybe sometime down the line."
"How can you be so certain about that?" Yang asked, "I mean..." she tried to say when Blake kissed her passionately on the lips.
"I don't know." Blake replied, "I just know I am." She momentarily paused for thought. "If you want proof, though, Jaune has been keeping other women away more than we have."
"But?.." Yang asked and breathed in, "Isn't he afraid of what happens if they get too close?"
Blake snuggled up to her. "Yes. He's not a saint. Even if he might seem like it. That's one of the things I love about him. He understands that we're all flawed." As she said this, Yang grabbed her right arm where it had been cut off. "He then forgives," she said, and then grabbed Yang's right hand, intertwining their fingers, "and loves us for it."
Yang breathed in deep and then sighed, "Is that why you suggested, you know, to him? Because you knew he wouldn't?"
"Yes?" Blake asked, "But I also know what if we let them get closer, he will."
"But?" a confused Yang asked, "You trust him?"
"He will." Blake stated, "They will, because we'll allow it."
"So?" a more angry Yang asked, "You're okay if Jaune cheats on us?"
"Now?" Blake asked, "No, but I will before he does." Yang just stared in the air, completely confused. She dropped her head into her hands, and Blake just snuggled up even closer. "You can't be afraid of your own future."
"That is one of the only things I can't just get Yangry at and punch." Yang stated, and Blake kissed her on the cheek.
* * *
Yang snuck up on Aurora in the kitchen and wrapped her arms around her. She stiffened up momentarily before quickly relaxing, "Lady Yang?" Aurora asked.
"Wait, I'm a Lady now?" Yang asked, "Also, how did you know it was me?"
Aurora rolled her eyes while enjoying the embrace. "There are two lovely things pressing into me to tell you apart."
"Okay, yeah."
"And you are the only one with brown, scaled arms." Aurora stated.
"Okay, yeah." Yang said, "What about Ilia?"
"Mmm." Aurora replied, before Yang let her go. Aurora turned around to look at her. "I also doubt she would randomly hug me from behind. The scales are different, as well."
"Okay, yeah, you got me." Yang said, raising her arms. "But, I want to talk about, you know."
"I was quite surprised by how... accomodating... M'Lord was."
"Oh, yeah, and the Lord and Lady thing?" Yang curiously asked.
"Partially because that's how I feel." Aurora stated, "Partly because it's true, and partly because appropriate forms of address has been a sticky issue with you and your family."
"Okay, yeah, but you know, being all important is kind of strange to us... other than Weiss... who honestly seems to be handling this really well... and you basically worship..." Aurora smiled brightly and nodded. "Okay, yeah..."
Aurora stepped in and kissed Yang on the cheek before stepping back. "I admire all you. You are all so amazing. I know how much trust you are all placing in me, and I constatly strive to be worthy of it. I promise not to ever betray this trust."
"So, like, if Jaune did hit on you?"
"Should that ever come to pass, I would decline." Aurora replied.
Yang smiled for a moment until a worried look returned to her face. "Okay, but what if Weiss asked you to?" Aurora blushed so deeply is was clearly visible through her treefrog skin and bowed her head. "Okay, yeah, that might be too much, considering how much you... uh?.. think of her... Glad we had this talk."
"Myself as well." Aurora said with a bright smile, blush still visible.
* * *
Yang walked into the bedroom.
"My turns not up yet!" Ruby accosted her.
"Chill, Sis, I'm here for Ice Queen." Yang replied, this caused Weiss to let out a loud scoff as she sat up in the bed. "We can go back to Linnet in a moment, after you promise me something."
"Very well?" Weiss asked.
"Okay, talked to the Little Bit, and she said something."
"Curious?" Weiss asked.
"Exactly." Yang replied. "Alright, so, she said she would never break our trust."
"Indeed?" Weiss asked.
"But, then, I was like, jealous, you know, and pushed it..." Yang continued.
"Yes?" Weiss asked.
"Okay, yeah, you see, if Jaune tried to fuck her, she would refuse." Yang said, and Jaune grumbled. "Not saying you would." Yang said to him, before turning back to Weiss, "But you see, the thing is, Ice Queen, if YOU told her told, she would."
"Weiss stared blankly for a moment. "I promise to not give her such an order without permission from my other wives." Weiss simply stated. "And likely will have taken leave of my senses."
"Thank you." Yang said, and Jaune slowly sat up.
"Ruby's time IS up."
"But?.." Ruby tried to say.
"And I'm feeling good enough to get up. My wives have cured me." Jaune then started nudging Ruby repeatedly until she Petal Burst out of the bed. He slid over to the side and let Yang help him to his feet. Weiss then elegantly slipped out the other side. "We could help him to get dressed." she stated, and Ruby eagerly put her hand up.
"Oh, me!" she exclaimed.
"And," Weiss continued, and everyone looked at her, "I feel it would likely be for the best if Jaune did not wear his armour."
"Yeah... yeah..." Jaune replied.
* * *
Ruby passed Jaune his hoodie as he slipped his arms into it. She then tugged it down before zipping it up, and did her best to not giggle at it. "I still love the bunny."
"Perhaps we should get him a proper gambeson or arming doublet." Weiss stated.
"I don't know?" Jaune asked, "It's worked for me, so far?"
"It does not chaffe?" Weiss asked.
"Ah, I got used to that, a long time ago."
"An arming double would also offer more padding, and provide a firmer base on which to affix your armour."
"Alright, alright." Jaune stated.
"Can it still have a bunny?" Ruby asked.
"I do believe that is trademarked." Weiss stated.
"Bunnies?" Yang asked.
"Pumpkin Pete's Marshmallow Flakes." Jaune wearily stated. "The hoodie also reminds me of Pyrrha... makes me think she's still protecting me..."
Weiss was unsure of what to say as moisture appeared in his eyes. She leaned forward to kiss him on the cheek. "Then we will have to make sure it is kept safely, if it means so much to you."
* * *
Jaune stumbled out of the bedroom with Ruby nervously eyeing him from behind. Weiss more elegantly walked up, though still eyeing Jaune out of the corner of her eyes.
"Yo?" Yang said from one of the couches.
"Yang?" Jaune asked.
"What's up, Sis?" Ruby asked.
"C'we talk, Rubes?" Yang asked.
"I promiss," Weiss stated, "that should he fall, I will scream bloody murder until others come to aid me."
"I guess that works." Ruby said to her, and blew her a kiss.
Weiss nervouly looked between her and Jaune before pantomiming catching the kiss, and nervously walking off. They closed the suite doors behind them.
"Alright, Sis?" Yang asked, "What do you think about this?"
"I don't know, what?.."
"About Little Bit living in our closet and masturbating to us."
"Okay?" Ruby asked, "I know I'm the leader, but I really have no idea what I'm doing right here. I never thought I could get someone to notice me, nevermind having four, uh?, spices?"
"Not like I know any better." Yang replied as she slouched back, arms along the top of the couch. "You have to admit that Jaune got you goin' in Beacon?"
"Well, he is like really tall, and fun, and actually talked to me... but... I mean, I never dreamed he would notice me?"
"And Linnet?" Yang asked.
Ruby Petal Burst to another couch and slumped forward. "I really didn't know what to think of her. I figured that was my chance to get a best friend, but Weiss was so Weissy. But now she's still Weissy, but good Weissy?"
Yang nodded in reply, "And you know, gorgeous like a ballerina."
"Or an angel!" Ruby exclaimed, sitting up and vigorously pointed as Yang.
"Okay, yeah." Yang said. "But, aren't you afraid Jaune's going to cheat on us, or something?"
"Oh, pfft." Ruby said, "I'd be more worried about you. I mean, we all tried to seduce Jaune in Haven. I might not be very good at it, but you and Weiss and..."
"Wait, what?" Yang asked.

Begin Again Part 2 (A,F)
Word count: Around 6k
Idol! Jongho x Fem Reader, Best friend! Hongjoong. Reader has serious body confidence issues due to a past relationship but Jongho will help her through it. First two chapters will be angst with some fluff but a little smut will appear in chapter 3.
Warnings: Mentions of abuse, both emotional and psychological, body shaming, anxiety issues.
Author’s note: Reader is overweight but not as massive as she thinks she is. She has been conditioned through psychological abuse to believe she is very fat and unattractive. This is not intended to be the kind of story where reader becomes thin and is then happy and gets male attention (although, due to reader’s warped sense of self she does equate being thin with being happy). Even after losing some weight (for her own health and happiness) she is still somewhat overweight and curvy but the more important part is that she gets her confidence back and that is what makes her happier and more attractive.
Part 1 Part 3
Posted 18th December 2020
@boss-baby-jongho Sorry it took so long
Tumblr media
It had been a few months now since you and Jongho had been training together and you were much closer. You got on well with all the boys but Jongho was the closest to you now aside from Hongjoong. You still saw Hongjoong alone quite often - he would come over to your apartment and you'd watch movies and talk but you also spent plenty of time with all of them together.
This evening you had just come into the boys' dorm with Jongho after another gym session to the smell of cooking. You looked into the kitchen to find Seonghwa and Wooyoung cooking while Woo pestered the older boy like usual, telling him he was doing it all wrong. Hwa had his usual patient look on his face, completely used to Wooyoung's nonsense.
"Y/N!" Yunho called out in greeting . You could see he wanted to hug you like he usually would to others; he was such a warm, affectionate person but he knew it would make you uncomfortable. He settled for stroking your arm instead. You were getting much better at accepting physical affection from them these days. Hongjoong gave you your usual hug and Yunho looked sulkily at you.
"She'll get there, Yunho, just be patient. You'll get hugs soon." Hongjoong told the tall blue-haired boy and you had to laugh at how hopeful his face suddenly turned. You often referred to them as 'boys' but they were all grown men. You wouldn't think it sometimes, though, with how sulky they could get. Yunho and Mingi could appear intimidating with how big they were but really just loved cuddles, no matter who from. San loved his plushies and Woo was so playful and teasing that sometimes they seemed younger than they were. Hongjoong, Seonghwa and Yeosang seemed like the more mature of the group. Jongho was a bit of a mixture; he seemed mature despite being the youngest but he could be pouty sometimes. You were sure, however, that he just used that to get what he wanted. It usually worked, though, you could never deny him anything when he unleashed the full power of his pout.
Seonghwa had made tteokboki - your favourite - and you were all just eating and chatting happily but Mingi seemed quieter than usual and you could feel him watching you during dinner. The drinks had been flowing as none of you had to get up the next day and you felt comfortable enough now to ask him why on earth he'd been watching you so much.
"Oh, sorry. I didn't think you'd noticed."
"You weren't being that subtle, Mingi." You said, amused by his sheepish reply.
"I was just thinking...you always wear such baggy clothes but working out with Jongho must be working because they seem so much bigger on you now."
"You are looking smaller, Y/N." Hongjoong agreed.
"You think?" You asked, you had thought so but with wearing baggy clothes already it wasn't so easy to notice when they got baggier - at least to you...Mingi seemed to see it.
"Definitely." Jongho added, "There's no way my master-level instruction isn't working." You giggled while the others all groaned at his smug evaluation of his talents.
"Well, thanks, I guess...but why do you say so?" You asked Mingi uncertainly, naturally worrying it was something bad that caused him to bring it up. Did you still look that bad? You were hoping all your hard work would make you look better.
"There's nothing wrong if that's what you're comfortable in but I was just thinking it's a shame to hide all the hard work you've been doing."
"What do you mean?"
"Baggy clothes hide your real shape. Some people wear them because they are uncomfortable with their size but they tend to make a person look bigger than they are."
"Oh god, he's on about clothes again." Yeosang muttered.
Ignoring Yeosang's comment you felt your heart drop. Mingi could see exactly what you were doing and - worse - was calling you out on it in front of everyone. You looked down at your food not wanting to look anyone if them in the eye. You felt exposed having your size become the topic of discussion at the dinner table.
"You've made her feel bad, you moron!" Jongho said, glaring at Mingi.
"Calm down, Jongho, we all know you like - "
"Shut up!" Jongho warned, uncharacteristically ill-tempered.
"Well, as I was going to say...don't take it out on Mingi. You know he wouldn't have meant to upset Y/N."
"No! Of course not!" Mingi exclaimed, looking apologetic.
You were certainly confused. You'd never seen Jongho get worked up like that and couldn't see how it linked to what Mingi had said. Maybe what Yeosang was trying to say would've explained it but it was obviously something Jongho didn't want him to say.
"It's okay, Mingi. It's not your fault I'm so sensitive about it. Please continue with what you were saying."
"What I wanted to say is that you should let me take you out to get some clothes that would work much better on you." The brown-haired boy looked excited at the thought but to you even the thought was causing worry to rise in your chest.
"Oh, no. No. I'm no good at clothes shopping. Everything looks bad on me and I just end up crying."
"But..." Mingi continued, "I am very good at clothes shopping and I know exactly what will make you look good."
"You do?" You were still very uncertain about this but the alcohol was making you more suggestible.
"Excuse me? Have you ever seen me in a bad outfit?"
"Here it comes..." Mumbled Yeosang.
"I have never chosen a bad outfit in my whole life. I was born with amazing fashion sense." Mingi declared as the others all rolled their eyes at his overexaggerated claim.
"Uh...I don't know."
"Go on, Y/N... it'll be fun. As modest as he is..." Wooyoung stopped to shake his head at Mingi, "...he does actually know what he's doing when it comes to clothes."
"Okay. As long as I don't end up crying, though." You were already anxious and not really sure why you'd agreed to it.
"If you do it looks like Mingi will have Jongho to deal with." Wooyoung snorted.
In response Jongho stood quickly from the table and stalked down the hall to the room he shared with Mingi. You looked after him sadly. It was horrible seeing him upset. You had no idea what this was all about but it seemed like they were teasing him about something. You looked at the other boys with questioning eyes.
It was Seonghwa who answered your look, "Don't worry, Y/N. He'll be fine, he usually calms down quickly."
Later on when you and Hongjoong were alone in the kitchen doing the dishes you decided to ask your red-haired best friend about it.
"Joong?"
"Yeah?"
"What was Jongho so upset about?"
"Oh...uh...well, I probably shouldn't say anything...but I'm not sure if he ever will."
Hongjoong pondered his statement as he washed another plate. This was not clearing anything up at all.
"I'm not following."
"He likes you." Hongjoong said putting the plate on the drainer for you to dry up.
"I like him, too. He's really fun to be around."
"No, I mean he likes you." Hongjoong emphasised, looking you dead in the eye.
You were stunned. Why would Joongie think that?
"Don't be ridiculous." You scolded him lightly.
"I mean it!" He defended.
"It's not that. He's probably just feeling protective as we've got closer now. No one likes their friends being upset." You nodded to yourself at your more correct assessment of the situation. Anything else was simply unbelievable to you. No one ever thought of you like that. Least of all someone as perfect as Jongho.
                                                     ********
The next morning you woke up feeling just slightly hungover as you'd all continued drinking further into the evening. All except Jongho, of course. He didn't come back out and that really put a damper on your evening. However, you weren't feeling too bad until you remember that you'd agreed to let Mingi take you shopping. You groaned loudly and tried to work out how to get out of it before deciding you'd have to go because you really didn't like flaking out on people.
Noticing the time you quickly had breakfast and showered before dressing as you always did - baggy to hide your shape and size. You couldn't see how it was possible to look better in clothes that actually showed your figure but hoped Woo was right when he said Mingi knew his stuff when it came to clothes.
You were pretty much done when you heard a knock on your apartment door. You rushed over to open it and found Mingi on the other side, smiling brightly at you.
"Ready?" he asked, voice as deep as ever.
"No." Truthfully you were dreading it.
"Well we're still doing it so come on." Unceremoniously, he grabbed your wrist with his big hand and pulled you out the door.
"I'm coming, I'm coming..." You laughed, "Just let me lock my door before we go."
                                                  ********
"Y/N...are you ever going to come out?"
"I'm really not sure about this, Mingi."
You were standing in front of the full-length mirror in the changing room, uncomfortable with what was reflected back at you.
"I picked out the perfect outfits for you so I can't imagine what you're not sure of." The tall brunette said matter-of-factly.
"It's just so...tight."
"Exactly. It will show off your figure perfectly."
"Mingi!" You yelled as he suddenly whipped the dressing room curtain back.
"See? You look amazing."
You looked at him skeptically as he smiled widely, appreciating his work.
"You're lying."
Mingi's smile faded and he sighed. "Y/N, you're not seeing yourself clearly at all. You have a great figure...amazing curves." He added, looking you up and down.
"Mingi, are you checking me out?" You joked, "I'm going to have to watch you."
"What?" He said defensively, "You look good."
Embarrassment came over you as you were only joking so you didn't expect Mingi's response. He, however, was not embarrassed and continued on a little more seriously.
"I know you don't think so but it's true."
The change in atmosphere caught you off guard. You'd only ever seen Mingi in a playful mood so to see him turn serious and caring was different.
"Thank you, Mingi."
The brunette smiled in response and you could see that he meant it even if you had trouble believing it. You thanks were sincere, though, because, aside from Hongjoong, you weren't used to anyone offering praise to you.
"You definitely need to get this outfit. It's looks great and makes you look a lot smaller than those awful baggy clothes you wear. Next outfit!"
Mingi pulled the curtain shut while you reluctantly did as ordered and started changing in to the next set of clothes. In truth, though, part of you was excited and enjoying the shopping trip with Mingi. The confidence you once had was buried deep down but you knew it was still there and maybe this could help you find it again. You used to love all the attention you got from boys when you got dressed up and you wanted that feeling back. That was why you let Mingi talk you into getting all the clothes he'd picked out for you.
                                                   ********
A low whistle sounded as you entered the boys' dorm with Mingi pushing you through the door as you'd felt too nervous to go in looking so different to usual. You had tried to turn and run away but Mingi was too big and strong.
You were in the first outfit he'd picked out for you which was a pair of tight-fitting jeans and a top cut lower than you were used to but not too revealing. You weren't used to the way the clothes hugged your curves and felt self-conscious because you were so used to hiding underneath baggy clothes but you could see what Mingi had been trying to tell you. You did look a lot better in fitted clothes than the shapeless ones you usually wore. You looked like a girl again.
You looked up to see that the whistle had come from Wooyoung, who was now appreciating your newly revealed figure.
"It's really nice," the darker-haired male said, "...Mingi, you chose well."
"Don't I always?" Mingi said in response, clearly proud of his work.
Just as you were trying to extract yourself from this new attention a sharp slap on your behind made you gasp and spin around.
"San!" You shreiked at the blonde, who didn't look the least bit sorry.
"Looking good, Y/N."
You really should've scolded him for smacking you but he always looked so cheeky and cute you couldn't really bring yourself to.
"Thanks, San...but don't do that again."
"Why not? In those jeans it looks too good not to." He said, motioning to your bum with both hands.
"She's not a piece of meat, San." Jongho said, annoyance lacing his tone. "And you can't just touch someone like that without their permission."
You and San both turned, neither of you having noticed the youngest's silent entrance.
San looked at Jongho with one eyebrow raised as if he wanted to say something snarky but instead turned to you and said,
'We're friends...it's fine, isn't it Y/N?"
"It's fine but I meant it when I said don't do it again - it really hurt." You gave San a look so he would know you meant it but you really didn't mind that much. You appreciated the sentiment, just didn't like the pain.
Jongho, on the other hand, was not convinced. He looked at San for a moment longer, huffed unhappily, then left the room.
It made you a little unhappy to see Jongho like that. He'd been a little weird lately. Distant. When you were at the gym together he was just the same as always but around the other boys he wasn't the same. He seemed sulky and spent more time in his room. What really hurt most was that he didn't talk to you as much in front of the others.
It's true that with them there, there wasn't as much chance to talk together but after your coffee 'date' he had made more effort to be closer to you - so what had changed now?
Thinking back you remembered the others teasing him and Hongjoong saying  Jongho liked you. Could that be it? You didn't see how; what Hongjoong said couldn't have been true so you had just ignored it. At the gym it hadn't made it awkward between you but was that why Jongho was distancing himself around the others...to stop them from teasing him? Maybe you could try talking to him; he had become a really good friend to you and you didn't want a simple misunderstanding to get in the way of that.
The chance to talk to Jongho didn't come that evening as he had come back out of his room to eat with everyone but there were so many of you that it was impossible to talk alone. You could have gone somewhere private to talk but you didn't want to give Yeosang and Wooyoung even more reason to tease him.
Although you were still worrying about Jongho, you still had a great evening. It had made you a little self-conscious but you had to admit that you liked  being told you looked good and feeling like your hard work was paying off.
Well...the evening was great until Mingi made a horrifying suggestion.
"Hey! Y/N has some really nice clothes now - courtesy of my incredible fashion sense, of course - so we should all go out and celebrate her hard work."
A communal groan was heard around the room at his less than modest statement but, for the most part, everyone agreed.
"What do you have in mind, Mingi?" Seonghwa enquired, ready to put a stop to any plans that sounded too crazy.
"Let's go to a club!" The excitement was clear on Mingi's face but anxiety was creeping on to yours.
"No." You said firmly as they all turned to you to see what you thought. "No clubs."
"What?
"Why not?"
San and Wooyoung complained in unison, obviously not happy with your opinion.
"Y/N..." Mingi looked at you with a pout, "we got you such nice clothes, why do you not want to show them off?"
You shifted on the couch, uncomfortably.
"It's nothing to do with the clothes...it's the people. Too many people. I just don't like clubs."
"Well," Hongjoong interjected, "strictly speaking it's not the clubs you dislike. I remember you used to love going out and dancing so if we chose a club that's less crowded then you should be okay."
You shot your supposed best friend a look of betrayal.
"Then we should do that!" Mingi cried, excitement flaring up again.
"Please Y/N?" San pouted at you.
"Don't worry about all the other people; we'll all be there to look after you."
Wooyoung added on and with all three of them looking at you with such hope, you found yourself giving in again.
"Fine...but I'm not going to enjoy it." You declared sulkily, slumping back into the couch cushions while the three boys cheered. You didn't miss Hongjoong quietly looking pleased with himself for his latest victory in 'getting you out there again'.
He was right, though you hated to admit it, you did used to love dancing but over the years your enjoyment of clubs diminished along with your confidence. Your dislike of them now was based on the assumption that people would judge you. Laugh at you for getting dressed up and trying to look nice when really you were just a fat mess. Laugh at you trying to dance. You had never been what anyone would call graceful - clumsiness and a poor sense of balance making that impossible. You didn't used to care about that but with no self-confidence you started to focus on every bad aspect of yourself.
While you were inside your own head worrying about all this, the others were busy making plans.
"Y/N!" Wooyoung called out, breaking you out of your thoughts.
"Sorry, what?"
"I said I know just the right club for you. It's got great music but it's a little more expensive so all the kids go elsewhere. It's never uncomfortably packed and doesn't get as rowdy."
You nodded and smiled but it had done little to relax you. Honestly you missed the old days you used to go out dancing confidently. When you looked in the mirror and thought you looked nice and didn't worry about if other people agreed or not. Now that you'd agreed, all you could do was make the best of it. You knew the eight boys would look after you and you'd never not enjoyed a night with them. Maybe it would be fun.
                                                     ********
Club night came and you were feeling strangely calm about it. A little nervous but mostly excited to spend another night with the best eight friends you'd ever had.
They had all arrived at your apartment unannounced - Mingi citing his concerns about what clothes you would chose, as if only he knew how to put an outfit together. He said he'd have to approve your outfit before he could let you out; you merely answered him with a roll of your eyes and let him get on with it.
Rather than falling back into your old habit of hiding yourself in baggy clothes, you had actually decided to go for it in terms of dressing up - after all, if you were going out, you might as well make the effort. It had also occurred to you that maybe people were more likely to look at you if you looked out of place, one person in shapeless, baggy clothes in a whole club full of well-dressed people.
Mingi looked you up and down, appraising your outfit. You had chosen a short(ish) black skirt and a sparkly top which showed a nice amount of cleavage but not too much. You'd even broken out your push-up bra for added effect. The outfit was finished with a pair of black heels because if there was one thing you knew, it was that heels made your legs look slimmer. You'd even done the kind of make up you used to with eyeliner and subtle false eyelashes. Why not go all out? you thought; you'd forgotten how nice it felt to get dressed up.
Mingi smiled and gave you the nod so you were good to go. Hongjoong, knowing you would be nervous, made sure to tell you how good he thought you looked and the others all agreed in their own ways. Seonghwa, Yunho and Yeosang nodding in quiet agreement while Mingi, San and Wooyoung  were more vocal about it. The only one who didn't say anything was Jongho - publicly, at least. It was only when the others were out of earshot that he quietly came closer,
"You look really nice tonight."
The blonde boy you'd grown so close to looked quite awkward but you still assumed it was because he didn't want the other boys to tease him again. Why else would he wait until the others couldn't hear him.
"Thank you, Jongho." You replied, feeling as awkward as he looked. "You look really good, yourself."
You looked at Jongho, dressed in black jeans and a dark blue button up shirt with his dark blonde hair parted to show his forehead, making his beautiful dark eyes looking bigger than usual because they were more on show. He looked amazing. He was so handsome it almost hurt.
You felt more awkward with Jongho's compliment...maybe because it meant more to you. You'd had a sneaking suspicion for the last few weeks that you were starting to like him as more than a friend but you'd tried to ignore it because you couldn't imagine it going anywhere. You'd witnessed him get angry when the others teased him about liking you and the only logical reason for that was that the thought of liking you was an unwelcome one.
It was true that Joong had said Jongho liked you but you were sure he was mistaken because of the distance he was keeping from you as well as his general moodiness recently. None of it mattered anyway because, as far as you could see, there was such a vast difference between Jongho and yourself that he couldn't possibly like you.
At best you were ordinary, nothing special at all but Jongho...he was ethereal. His smile was so cute that you couldn't help but smile back when you saw it and his eyes shone so brightly. Yet despite the cuteness he still had a maturity some of the older boys didn't. He was so strong, too and, to be honest, you found that really, really hot.
It wasn't just how he looked, though, Jongho was a wonderful person. He was clever and funny and he'd given you so much help and asked nothing in return. What would someone like that want with someone like you?
                                                 ********
Clubs were as hot, sweaty and loud as you remembered. It had been some time since you'd gone to one - preferring to hide away  at home than go out and be surrounded by people. That's depression's survival instinct...to cut you off from the world so you won't seek help. To keep you away from friends who could help you. Thank goodness for Hongjoong because he wasn't letting you get away with that and without him you'd still be hiding away. Miserable. Clubs might not be the most comfortable place for you due to the overcrowding but you knew that you'd be ok with Hongjoong by your side - as well as the other seven boys you'd now come to think of as 'yours'.
Maybe it was the fun of being out with them all but you'd found it easier than you'd thought to relax and enjoy yourself. You'd even managed to keep away from thoughts that anyone looking at you was judging you...until you noticed a guy at the bar had been looking for a bit too long. You were waiting for the bartender to get your drink and hoping he would do it more quickly so you could get back to the others but luck was not on your side and the guy started to approach.
"Hi."
You looked at the guy for a second. Tall, fairly good looking and he seemed friendly from his tone as he greeted you but you felt a little panicked, nonetheless.
"Umm...Hi." You managed nervously.
He smiled, "You looked really good dancing just now."
You waited for the smirk or laugh to reveal he was being sarcastic but it didn't come. You hadn't yet got to a place where you trusted people meant what they said but when nothing else was said and he appeared to have meant it you quickly thanked him. You'd left a longer gap than was normal before replying and now your worry was that he thought you were slow-witted.
"Are you with all those guys over there?"
"Yeah...they're my friends." You told him, glancing over and smiling.
"You're not going out with any of them?" He pressed on.
"No, we're just friends." You said, shaking your head.
"Ah. Well one of them is really glaring at me right now. I'd say he doesn't like me talking to you."
You looked in the same direction as the guy and, sure enough, saw Jongho looking very much less than friendly.
"Oh, we're quite close so he's probably just worrying about me. You are a stranger, after all." An awkward laugh left you - small talk was not your forte.
The man smiled back and looked about to say something more but the bartender finally returned with your drink.
"Well, it was nice meeting you." You said as you started backing away. You really wanted to be back with your boys; you were still far too socially inept to be in this kind of situation without back up.
"What did that guy want?" Jongho demanded as soon as you were back.
"Dunno...just being friendly, I guess."
The dark blonde scoffed while San jumped in to tease, "Ooh, Y/N's on the pull!"
"Don't be ridiculous, San!" You squealed in horror.
"I'm just saying..." the blonde continued, "...guys don't approach women in clubs because they want to be 'friends'." He emphasised that last word so you'd have no problem undersanding what he meant.
"I'm getting another drink." Jongho grunted before stalking off in the direction of the bar. You sighed. He still didn't seem himself.
"I'm sure he was just being nice." You said naively. It wasn't that you didn't know what men were usually after in clubs but you honestly didn't imagine anyone wanting that from you.
"Suuure he was." A deep voice cut in.
"Don't you start, Mingi!" Your new fashion adviser laughed as you scolded him. "All of you manage to be friends with me without wanting anything more so why can't he?"
Smiling smugly, you felt you'd won the argument until the tall brunette leaned in closer,
"We're all still men, though. I might be your friend but if you asked, I'd fuck you right now and I'm pretty sure one or two of the other guys would, too."
The only way to describe the look on your face was dumbfounded. That was absolutely not something you would've expected to hear from any of them.
"Whatever, I'm going to dance again."
It can't have been possible for you to look any more flustered as you headed back to the others on the dance floor, with Mingi's deep chuckle following behing you.
As the night wore on you really were enjoying yourself much more than you expected but that could have a lot to do with the amount of alcohol you had consumed so far. You were even relaxed to the point that you didn't notice the guy from the bar dancing next to you, getting closer and closer. Soon he was dancing with you but you didn't mind too much as long as he didn't start getting touchy. The attention was nice, at least. You vaguely thought back to what San had said and sighed internally because you didn't want him to have been right but you had to acknowledge it now. Maybe between Jongho's training and Mingi's outfits, they really had managed to make you look alright.
But men were disappointingly typical and, not long after getting close, the guy started to get handsy. You barely had time to turn around and tell him to stop before you felt his hands disappear suddenly. When you had turned you saw said man looking confused - and slightly pained - as one of his wrists was being held aloft by a very pissed off looking Jongho.
The guy looked at Jongho cautiously before saying, "Hey, I'm sorry man...I didn't realise she was your girl."
You could see why the guy was looking worried - Jongho looked pretty scary and you wondered just how tightly he was gripping the man's wrist.
Jongho let go but didn't stop glaring and the man backed away a little.
"She's not but don't you think you should still ask her before you start feeling her up?"
"Sorry...I didn't mean any harm." The guy answered, looking between Jongho's hard face and your quite confused one before walking away quickly. You turned back to Jongho; you really appreciated him looking out for you but couldn't understand why he was so angry.
"Jongho...what -"
"You shouldn't let random guys touch you like that, Y/N!"
You stared at him for a few seconds, a bit stunned until his sharp tone set off your own anger at being chided like that.
"I was turning around to stop him but, to be honest, it's not really any of your business who I let touch me!"
Jongho's eyes widened a little, taken aback by your reaction. You'd always had a temper but none of the boys except Hongjoong had ever seen you get angry. They only knew your milder, more timid side and the quickness in which you turned had taken them all by surprise. In your peripheral vision you could see the rest of them watching the exchange between the two of you.
The dark blonde collected himself and continued with a slightly less angry tone.
"These guys aren't good enough for you. It's just like San said, they only want one thing."
From the corner of your eye you saw San bristle slightly as if he really didn't want to be brought into this now.
"That's my decision to make, though, isn't it Jongho?" You hadn't softened much towards him - now you were free you didn't need another man telling you what to do.
"I know, I'm sorry..." He continued, more softly now, "...but you shouldn't be with guys like that."
"And you know exactly who I should be with?" You asked, sarcasm in your tone. "By all means tell me because I can't see men lining up to date me."
"Me."
"What?"
"You should be with me. I really like you, Y/N."
You stood in silence, trying to make sense of what he just said. Your mind recalled all the things you had previously dismissed as nonsense. Hongjoong telling you outright that Jongho liked you. Yeosang and Wooyoung teasing him about you. Had it not just been baseless teasing? He actually liked you?
Of course he doesn't like you. Who would want you?
"You don't like me." You said shaking your head. You didn't want to believe it because you couldn't trust it.
"I do. Let me show you." Jongho took a step closer and out of habit you fliched away from the closeness.
"What are you doing?" Slight alarm laced your tone.
"I'm going to kiss you." His tone added the silent 'of course'.
You froze at the words and Jongho noticed. It was out of surprise but he must've thought you didn't want him to as he started to look unsure of himself.
"If you don't want me to, all you have to do is say."
He paused, waiting for a 'no' that was never going to come. As much as you feared this was all some elaborate joke, you really did want this.
Hearing no protests, Jongho lifted his hands and placed them gently on the sides of your neck, his thumbs resting on your cheeks. Slowly he leaned down and pulled you closer. As you closed your eyes you prayed this was real and you weren't going to hear them all burst into laughter at any minute but before your fears could be realised, you felt Jongho's lips touch yours.
They were softer than you had imagined - and you had imagined it - and for someone so strong, he was remarkably gently. You could feel that he was being cautious as he didn't try to deepen the kiss, he just pulled back ever so slightly then reconnected, his lips moving softly against yours. When he did pull back to end the kiss, you kept your eyes closed a moment longer, not wanting it to end.
When you did open them you looked up at Jongho to find him looking back at you. He was searching your face for any sign that that wasn't what you had wanted and after a few moments  he was satisfied he could see nothing and gave you a small, somewhat shy smile. Obviously having heard something behind him over the music, his smile disappeared and was replaced by a look of annoyance. Following where he looked you saw the seven other boys all looking at the two of you with varied emotions on their faces, ranging fron happiness and surprise to approval. They had all known he liked you while you had stubbornly refused to see it - even when you were told outright.
Jongho turned back to you with a softer look, "You wanna go somewhere quieter - away from everyone else?"
"Yeah...that'd be nice."
Jongho took your hand in his larger one and led you out of the club. He had touched you before, of course, but only when correcting your stance during workouts. This felt different. It made your heard beat faster and gave you butterflies..
You briefly looked behind you to the others, noting that they looked slightly disappointed that you were both going but they'd get over it.
You and Jongho ended up back in the same coffee shop that first time. It was late, though, so you had the whole place to yourselves. Despite that being the first time you had properly talked alone with him, this was much more nerve-wracking. This wasn't a situation you'd have thought would ever happen. Despite what had just happened in the club you still couldn't let go of your fear. It was as instinctive reaction for you now, to just assume the worst about everything and everybody no matter how good they seemed to be. Just like right now you were quite aware that the both of you had been drinking - had that played a part for him? Would he have kissed you if he hadn't been? And would he think it was a mistake tomorrow?
The butterflies flew around wildly as the dark blonde boy made his way back to the table with the drinks. As he placed the tray down on the table you saw he had also bought a slice of red velvet cake like last time and he smiled as he placed it down. You wondered if he was trying to recreate it that first 'date' of sorts. It had felt special to you - maybe he had felt the same.
Your thoughts were flying as wildly as the butterflies in your stomach, going from hopeful that Jongho really did like you to fear that he was going to say it was just because he had been drinking and he'd got carried away.
Sitting there you'd realised the full extent of your feelings for Jongho...did he feel the same? The look in his eyes was soft as he looked at you and smiled. God, you hoped this meant what you wanted it to. Either way, it looked like you were about to find out as he opened his mouth to speak...

" Wait so you're breaking up with me? " I say
" You heard what I said we are done! "
" BUT- I HAVEN'T DONE ANYTHING... "
" That's the thing I can't keep a secret anymore I don't...  Love " you " anymore.. "
" Oh. " I say as my heart just shattered into a million pieces.
" Yeah sorry I can't go on like this... “
Now back to the present day:
" WAIT SO HE REALLY SAID THAT? " Semi shouted in the studio.
" YEA HE DID... WHAT a jerk"
Well... at least your single for the biggest party of the year! " Semi nudged my elbow
" YAY! A party after getting told "I don't love you anymore... " I rolled my eyes
" Well at the party you can meet new guys! You never know you might be the one.. "                                                                                                                      " OH hell no! I'm so over guys right now, all I'm  going to do is drink my sorrows away."                                                                                                                      " Oh gosh when you get drunk it's the funniest thing ever.. " Semi says as he tries to keep in his laughter                                                                                      " YEA YEA WHATEVER! "
The last time I drank was at an after-party after a huge photoshoot I did for a model... And let's just say I broke my arm.
" Ok well Semi if I'm going to your party tonight I have to get going so I can get ready! " I tell him as I get up from the studio chair.
" Ok don't be late! It starts at 10pm!  " he shouts as I leave the studio doors. Was I excited for the party?
Maybe a little bit after getting dumped it wasn't the best thing to do. I do need a distraction from the whole thing, so maybe the party will do wonders! I mean I'm still young after all, I'm only 22.. I just have to live my 20s like a huge party....YEA THATS MORE LIKE IT!
After getting lost in thought my stomach started growling .  To be fair it was 7pm and I haven't eaten since 5am.
I looked around to see if there was any nearby places to eat on my phone. There was a place called " Onigiri Miya " only about 3 minutes away.
So I got into my car and drove there. Once I got there I parked in an empty spot and hop out of the car.
I walked into the restaurant only to get greeted by a guy about my age. He has dark hair and he was wearing his work uniform. Not gonna lie he was pretty good-looking.
" Hi! Can I get a 3 Salmon flake onigiri! " I say
" Yes of courses 3 Salmon flake onigiri coming right up and total will be 700 yen." the young man says.
I paid him 700 yen after that I sit in the restaurant waiting for my food. All of a sudden I heard yelling from the back.
" ATSUMU HELP ME  MAKE SOME ONIGIRI! I NEED TO TAKE THEM TO A PARTY AROUND 10! "
" OSAMU IT'S NOT MY FAULT YOU TOOK UP THIS OFFER! "
I assume the one name Osumu is the one who took my order. Also, they have to make onigiri for a party that starts at 10? Maybe he is catering for Semi party..
After hearing the bickering between the two males in the back. Osamu comes out with the 3 huge salmon onigiri.
" There you go miss.. " he said as he gave me the bag to go.
" Ah thank you so much! ‘
" Not a problem please do come back soon!" he said as I walk towards the door. I gave him a small little wave.
I got into my car and drove straight to my apartment to get ready for the party. It was already about 8:30, I still needed to get dressed.
So I hit straight for the shower after I put on a pink short sequin mini dress. Next, I straighten my short/long hair, then I did some light makeup.
Once I was done getting ready I check the time and it was 9:30. I was only about 20 minutes away from the building where the party was being hosted it at. I leave my house and get going to the party.
I got there I could see a crowd of people waiting to get in. LUCKY FOR ME being friends with Semi I don't have to wait to get in.
I park my car, as I get out of the car I text semi that I'm here so he can bring me to the party.
5 minutes later
Y/N! OVER HERE! " Semi yelled while waving his arms.
" I'M COMING! "
" Oh wow, you look really good! Watch out some guys are going to try to hit on ya! " Semi said laughing.
" Oh gosh, I'm so over guys right now. " I said.                                                      " Ok whatever, let's get into the party! "
" Yay! " I say sarcastically.                                                                                Once Semi opened the back door, we were at the party. Purple lights were everywhere, there was a bar on the left. Everywhere you would go there would be someone dancing or girls flirting with boys.
" SHEEZ Semi this party is pretty big! " I yell over the music.
" DIDNT I tell you it was going to be one of the biggest parties! " He said.
" I didn't think that big! "
"It's a party it should be BIG! " Semi said as we
walked through the crowd. Then he stop near a table where  Tendou and Ushijima were at.
" Hey, guys! " Semi waves at them
" Hey Hey! " Tendou said jumping.
" Why you guys here? Tendou wanted to come huh! " I say looking at Ushijima.
" Yea Tendou wanted to come, I don't trust him at parties especially when he drinks. " Ushijima said in his usual monotone voice.
" He gets crazy huh! " I ask Ushijima Ushijima just nodded.
" HAHA BE CAREFUL When y/n drinks she brok- . "
" SEMI YOU DON'T NEED TO TELL EVERYONE ABOUT MY EMBARRASSING STORY.. "
" I'm just saying Be careful with her tonight," Semi said as he walked away with other people. " Well EXCUSE ME BOYS ILL BE HANGING AROUND THE BAR NOW! "
" Be careful y/n don't drink too much" Ushijima said
" YEA  BE CAREFUL USHIWAKA can't take care of 2 Drunk adults tonight! " Tendou said laughing.
" YEA YEA ILL BE GOING NOW! "
I walked through the party, and I kept running into people. I was so over this night already but I'm a good friend and I need to stay for Semi.
Once I got to the bar I asked the bartender for a Bloody Mary.  I was not having it after a break up especially.
Soon before I knew it I had about 6 shots and was already drunk.
As I sat there a random guy about my age sat next to me.
I was already out of it but it seems like he was trying to flirt. I'm not in the mood for this, so I get up from the chair. All of a sudden the man grabs my arm. Who the heck does he think he is?
" When I'm talking you stay and listen! " the man says.
" Yea no! " I say as I try to leave his grip.
" You aren't leaving unti-"
There I did it I slapped him... Damn, that was pretty bold of me!
" You ho- " the man said as he tried to hit me but someone stopped his hand.
" Don't you see she drunk ? " the blonde guy said.
At this point, I have no idea what's going on but this blonde muscular guy just helped me... I think...

23 McSombra on the run with baby Annie
23. Exhausted parents kiss
Oh man I sure love Brian K. Vaughan’s Saga but with More Cowboys the McSombra kid AU.
Remember Billie? I miss Billie.
---
McCree toweled off his hands as he turned away from the sink, scanning around for any glasses or plates that had been left behind. Billie was still wiping down the counter, and had seemed to hone in on a bit of caked-on cheese or some other stubborn thing, not looking at him. There was a faint buzz of desert insects in the night just outside the kitchen window.
“...so...?” Jesse’s voice trailed off a little.
“She’s a beautiful little girl, Jesse,” Billie shrugged, still not looking at him, “I don’t know what you want me to say.”
“It’s not about what I want you to say, it’s just...” McCree rubbed the back of his neck, “You raised me, so I dunno... figured you’d... know some stuff.”
Billie just had a short scoffing chuckle. “Guess you and her are really up shit creek then?” she said, finally turning her head toward him, “Most parents at your stage are up to their necks in unwanted advice.”
“Well it’s---”
“Complicated. I gathered,” Billie finally flaked off whatever was stuck to the counter and turned around to lean against it. “I don’t know what to tell you, Jesse. The fact that your mysterious lady friend--”
“Sombra.”
“The fact that Sombra,” Billie said the name with the clear frustration at still only being permitted to know Sombra’s pseudonym, “Actually decided to go through with it says more about how she trusts you than anything I could say. And she’s definitely smarter than you.”
McCree’s brow furrowed but Billie just shrugged.
“And what do you want me to say? You’ve pushed me out of the loop so many times for ‘my own safety,’ but now you made someone in the loop. Someone who is going to have this loop around her for her whole life. And I’m just gonna say this shit takes a village. Maybe if you let me in sooner, I might know what to tell you. Hell, you could’ve let her pop the kid out here!”
“It worked out--” McCree floundered a little.
“Going through childbirth in the back of a goddamn car is not ‘working out,’ Jesse,” said Billie, flatly.
McCree nearly said, ‘They don’t call it the mother road for nothing’ but that had prompted Sombra to cover their infant daughter’s ears in the car and cuss him out half-in-spanish for 30 minutes while clearly delirious from dehydration, so he refrained.
“It’s amazing she didn’t start bleeding out, or get an infection,” Billie muttered, “Do you know what you would have done, then? Does that kid even have shots?”
McCree’s ears burned but at the same time color was draining from his face.
“You two can’t do this alone,” Billie went on, “Now, you both can stay here as long as you need--”
“I can’t put that on you--” McCree started.
“I am getting pretty goddamn tired of both of your ‘need to do this alone’ bullshit. It’s not just about you two anymore. And both of you clamming up rather than reachin’ out for help...” she huffed, “You know why gerbils eat their babies?”
 “Jesus, Billie--”
“Because they get spooked. Fear is an animal instinct, and it makes you fucking stupid, and being a parent is one of the scariest goddamn situations anyone can ever be in. Are you going to let that fear put your kid at risk?”
McCree glanced off.
“I see the way you look at her,” Billie’s voice dropped slightly, “The way you look at both of them, and... it hurts so much because... there is so much more I should have given you---”
“I wasn’t your kid,” McCree said with a shrug, “And you were about a decade and a half younger than I am now, so--”
“So let me say this: I was young, and stupid, but also scared, stubborn, and proud... like you are,” her mouth drew to a thin line, “You’re a good man, Jesse, but this is when the ‘Lone Ranger’ shit stops working. You need to go back--”
“Sombra only let me in on her... project... when I dropped ties with Overwatch,” said McCree, glancing off.
“Is the baby the project--?” Billie’s eyes crinkled in confusion.
“Annie’s not the project, there’s this--look, I can’t get you involved---”
“Oh son of a--” Billie huffed, her head lolling down with exasperation, and the conversation dropped to a mutually frustrated silence before Billie looked back up with a steadying breath, “Jesse, if you can’t, in good conscience, let me get involved, then maybe have the decent sense to get back in touch with the people who have the firepower to make you feel less shitty about asking for help.”
“...I’ll talk to Sombra about it,” said McCree.
“She’s as much of a gerbil as you are, right now,” said Billie with a slight raise of her eyebrows.
The back of McCree’s neck prickled with frustration, but he remembered the sight of Sombra drenched in sweat in the back of 2057 Ford Mustang, his forehead aching after Sombra’s foot slid off of the headrest of the front seat and smacked him during a push, afterbirth staining the upholstery, and Annie squalling in her arms. The short laugh that fell out of Sombra then as she made eye contact with him and the way she didn’t even blink at the name ‘Olivia’ falling out of him breathless. The love in that moment, the sheer terror.
Billie patted him on the shoulder then and it snapped him out of the memory. She gave him a soft, affectionate look, one he could still recognize from his own childhood, a knowing, lopsided smile he saw in Sombra’s smirk, sometimes. He glanced down, pressing his own lips together tight, and she leaned against him. Mindlessly he wrapped his arms around her. He had grown taller than her at 17, but she still stood up under the slump of his weight and squeezed him. She pulled back from the embrace and looked up at him before patting his shoulder. “You’ll figure it out, cowboy, I know you will.” She nodded her head toward the living room where there was a faint purple glow against the walls. McCree gave her a nod and stepped out of the embrace, walking out of the kitchen and into the living room.
Sombra sat cross-legged on the futon. Her hair was still damp from a shower, piled up in a topknot and several purple screens surrounding her. She was in a button-up flannel shirt, long enough to technically be a minidress on her, half of the buttons undone from the top and Annie crooked in one arm at her breast as she scrolled through the screens with the other.
“Is that my flannel?” McCree leaned on the doorway.
“Maybe...” Sombra said coyly, waving her screens away.
“...so how much of that did you hea--”
“I dozed off for most of it?” Sombra glanced down at Annie, “Then titty monster here woke up and I’ve been a little occupied since. I’m probably psychic, y’know. Woke up before she could start crying.”
“Probably,” McCree said, slumping onto the futon next to her.
“Y’know, if you stayed in touch, maybe not every conversation you have with Billie wouldn’t be her dropping heavy shit on you like, ‘Take over the agave farm when I die’ or ‘I’m not sure who the hell your biological dad is’ or stuff like that.”
McCree snorted and draped an arm over Sombra’s shoulders, looking down at Annie, “Yeah, maybe,” he said. A long pause passed between them. “...but... she was saying some stuff that makes sense.”
“Like...?” Sombra’s eyes flicked from Annie to him.
“Oh, y’know, ‘Takes a village’ kind of stuff,” he shrugged, “You didn’t hear the part about the gerbils, did you?”
“Why were you talking about gerbils?” Sombra snickered a little.
“Eh ‘Responsibility’ stuff,” McCree said with a shrug, “Y’know I had gerbils when I was a kid so she had to guilt me about that.”
“Ah of course,” said Sombra before glancing over at him, “You’re so full of shit.”
“Yeah...” McCree slumped back to a reclining position on the futon and Sombra gently lowered herself down next to him, still nursing Annie, both of them staring at the ceiling.
“You know we can’t keep this up,” McCree said quietly.
“Please tell me she didn’t tell you to go back to Gibraltar,” Sombra closed her eyes.
“Well--”
“I knew it,” said Sombra as Annie broke off from her breast with a grunt and a burp.
“We have a better chance with them than you think,” McCree looked over at her, “And... Annie needs shots, Olivia--there’s a whole buncha shit she needs that they can give us that wont be where the Eye can track.”
Sombra glanced down at Annie who had had lolled off to sleep between her breasts. She trailed a finger along a curlicue of Annie’s fine, dark hair before drawing in a deep breath. “...we get the shots and we leave,” she said after a few seconds.
McCree kissed Sombra on the temple. “They’re gonna love her,” he said, smiling.
“Ay que mierda-- they’re going to know she exists,” Sombra’s voice was filled with dread.
“Which... is a thing that happens with people... eventually,” said McCree.
“Not with me,” said Sombra, side-eying him.
McCree snorted. “I know you,” he said quietly.
“Do you?” said Sombra.
“Better hope I do for our li’l nugget’s sake,” said McCree, gently brushing a hand over Annie’s head.
“...when I wake up, we’re going over a list of approved nicknames.”
“Oh come on, you can call her titty monster, but I can’t call her li’l nugget?”
“When she’s on your tits, you can call her li’l nugget,” said Sombra, nuzzling her head into the crook of McCree’s shoulder and closing her eyes.
“Well I’m taking li’l nugget so you don’t roll over and squish her,” said McCree, gently taking Annie up off of Sombra’s chest.
“Mm-hmm...” Sombra murmured sleepily.
McCree pushed up off of the futon with Annie in his arms. She curled into him, not even flinching at the cold of his prosthetic arm.
“I mean it y’know,” he said quietly, taking Annie over to the portable crib Billie had set up for them, “They are gonna love you.”
Annie only stirred slightly as McCree set her down into bed. “Takes a village,” he murmured before shuffling out of his own jeans and flopping onto the futon next to Sombra.
