(Older!Powder x fem!reader)
I'm sorry but I finished ep 1 of act 3 and had to write this to get my emotions out about ekko and powder being a thing in an alternative reality bcz just RAHHHFHSHEHSHHS my gay ass is crying (no offense to the timebomb shippers, you do you!! If you like this that's coolđȘđȘ) ENGLISH ISN'T MY NATIVE LANGUAGE, IF I MADE SOME SPELLING MISTAKES I'M SORRY ALSO SPOILERS FOR ACT 3!!
Warnings: uhhh just angst, mostly angst, this is for my girlies who might be feeling the same
àŒșáŠàŒ àŒșáŠàŒ àŒșáŠàŒ àŒáŠàŒ»
You've always liked Powder, every since you were kids, and still when you are teenagers.
Their was always something about her. The way she made the most creative inventions, the way she always seemed to have some sort of spark in her eyes. Her laugh, her hair, her eyes, it's hard for you to explain the feelings you have towards her.
You knew the way Vi's death was heavy on her, you could see that with the days, and soon years that came after. You we're always trying to be there to support her, make her feel a little better. You gave her space when she needed it, and we're there for her when she needed you the most.
And then there was Ekko.
You never hated Ekko, you đđ€đŁ'đ© hate Ekko. he was a good guy, you got along with him. He was around Powder nearly just as much as you we're, maybe even a little more. When you were around Powder, he wouldn't take long to show up as well. You didn't mind.
But you couldn't deny that you we're jealous of him, of Ekko. The way he charmed his way into Powder's heart over the years. With his sketches, ideas, personality, kindness and understanding. You wanted what him and Powder had as if what you already had wasn't enough for you. You could see the way she looked at him, how đđ looked at her the same way.
You often wished it was you instead of him. You try to forget about your jealousy, push it asside. You try to push your jealousy and selfishness asside, keep everything natural between you three. But it got harder and harder the more time went on.
Ekko has been acting strange recently, or at least that's what Powder told you. How he 'seems not to remember anything' and how he says these things about how in a dream her and Vi we're completely different. You noticed yourself too, how he was more around then usual. You assumed it was because of his project or whatever.
Now you find yourself here, on the dance floor in the last drop. Inventions around you everywhere as music and colorful lights fill the bar. You look into the crowd, trying to spot Powder. It took you a whole 5 minutes to finally spot her, but to no suprise, Ekko was there. On the dance floor, with her. Dancing together to the beat of the music like it was just the two of them. You tried to move your eyes away from the sight, let them be happy and together. But the jealousy ate you from the inside out, this all just left a bitter taste on your tongue. It all got so overwhelming so quickly, so you decide to leave the place before you explode and do something stupid.
So you decide to go out to Powder's little Hideout for now and go back once you've cooled down. You look at the massive invention across the room, stunned as fuck how they made this. You don't want to pay too much attention to it though, so you continue walking through the massive space before sitting down in front of the small memorial that Powder made for Vi.
You lighten the place up before just.. Sitting there. You sigh, looking at the picture sat on the desk. Vi always knew you had a thing for Powder, she always encouraged you to tell her how you felt. Whenever the situation was on your mind, you'd go here. You'd talk, like she was still there. Because to you, she was. To everyone, she still was. Now wasn't any different, you talked about what has been going on recently. With Ekko, Powder, and everything else.
"I just.. Don't know what to do, I know I'm supposed to be happy for them.. Ekko is a great guy, a-and if they become a thing, I'll be fine with it but.. Theirs this voice in the back of my mind that just doesn't seem to go away.." You groan, your head in your hands as you thought for a moment.
You knew you couldn't hide your feelings forever. If Powder wasn't going to feel the same way towards you, you might as well tell her what you've been feeling all this time. Just for an answer, a yes or a no. Anything. If she didn't feel anything as well then at least she'd know.
"I'll tell her, tonight. Like you always wanted me to do.. I'll.. I'll get this over with, okay? For you."
You found yourself walking back towards the last drop, but then you see Powder, going in the direction of what you knew to be the place where Vi always took her to. So you decided to follow.
If only you weren't blind enough to see Ekko walking along with her.
You climbed up to the place, heart racing in your chest as you tried to think about the things you could say. Your mind was running a million miles and you tried desperately to calm your nerves.
You we're finally gonna do it, you we're gonna tell her how you feel.
But just as you nearly reach the top, you see her. And Ekko.
Their kissing.
In front of your eyes.
Your heart dropped, hope that you knew was useless in the end shattered as you saw the image.
Wrong fucking timing. You stood there, frozen in time before quickly getting out of there. Trying to hold back the tears that we're threatening to fall.
She likes Ekko. She only likes Ekko. It was never you. Not in childhood, not in teenage years.
She likes a boy. That boy.
Your not that boy, and for now, you had to live with that.
You we're never going to being the one kissing her. It was always going to be him in the end.

1. There are a lot of people who think they're the only one who would speak up. Imagine what would happen if everyone who thought they were the only one... Spoke. But even if you do think you're alone... Why is antiracism not worth standing alone for?
I mean I think it is, and Iâve done it (or tried to). But I do tend to second guess my interpretation of a situation a lot more if I havenât seen anybody else say somethingâmaybe people sometimes arenât sure if what theyâre looking at is racist or not, and then decide not to do anything with that uncertainty because it would require thought.
2. There is a difference between feeding the trolls and speaking up when something wrong is happening. Do you feel people are more comfortable assuming the former so that they don't have to interact via the latter?
I think people are taught that the latter only exists in real life, and that if you try to do it in fandom youâre just yucking someoneâs yum. People who do the second one generally receive the same kind of pushback as people who do the first one (even though they donât deserve it).
3. Why do we think that bigotry will go away if it goes unaddressed? Is that how you also feel about bigotry that you experience via your other identities?
Because trolls go away when you donât pay attention to them. But like you already said in question #2, those situations arenât the same. People are drawing a false equivalence between the two. And as far as bigotry I experience in fandomâI think I just assume that it will be there and not go away no matter what, and Iâm pleasantly surprised when thatâs not the case. But thatâs not really the point of this.
4. Why should we entertain and prioritize the annoyance of bigots? Why do you not deserve to be here and have a safe, comfortable space any more than they do?
I want to annoy bigots XD I love the excuse. Honestly not sure why more people donât feel this way on tumblr, the website thatâs all about being as annoying as you please.
At the same time, I want the annoyance to come because Iâm giving them a message they donât want to hear, not because Iâm also being a jerk about it. Maybe itâs weird, but I care about bigots because theyâre people, and their bigotry hurts them too, and I want them to listen to me long enough that they hear what I have to say and change what theyâre doing. But even that isnât a reason to try to keep from offending themâcoddling somebody in their bigotry isnât kind either.
I do think that people often donât want to offend bigots who are good at creating fanworks, because they look up to them as a creative and/or donât want to drive their skill away from the fandom. Yeahâthe better you are at fanworks, the more you can get away with.
The second question is hitting me really strangelyâyes, I think everybody deserves to have a comfortable space, and I want to defend that for others. I donât know if I care to defend it for myself.
5. What do we plan on doing when Black fans lose their patience due to disillusionment? Are we okay with the outcome of that, of choosing... Well, being racist but safe? (Be honest with yourself!) Would we rather Black fans just accept that it's easier to assume everyone is antiblack, the same way it's easier not to speak up against it as a social norm? If we want to show that there is still a welcome for Black fans, that we are safe, why don't we act to show that?
I mean I plan to listen to them, even if I donât like the way theyâre presenting their frustrationsâif somebodyâs mad at me for something that I really did (or sat by and failed to stop) then itâs so not my job to critique their attitude.
I donât think Iâm okay with the outcomeâthatâs why Iâve spoke out in the pastâbut the parenthetical is psyching me out. Maybe I do ignore things out of fear! Iâll have to keep introspecting.
I donât want Black fans to assume everyone is against them, and I donât think other people want that eitherâbut I think fixing the situation requires people to be proactive. I think a lot of people think that just not being antiblack is enough, and then donât think about it any harder. And so nothing happens, because instead of looking to do something right, people are only trying not to do something wrong.
6. If everyone only hangs around people who aren't antiblack, why is the space still so overwhelmingly antiblack? Have you considered that you cannot adequately judge from within?
YES 100%!! I donât think we can accurately judge from within! This is one of my biggest strugglesâit goes back to my answer to #1. I want to speak out against racism, but even though Iâm trying to educate myself so that I can spot it, sometimes Iâm really not sure. And calling somebody racist feels like a really big accusationâif it lands publicly in the right way it could get somebody blocked by all their friends. I wouldnât want to do it to mistakenly. So Iâve been trying to watch and see when Black people call out racism so that I can amplify/support what theyâre already saying.
But maybe we need also to have a less all or nothing approach? If we arenât sure if someone is being racist, we could start a more private conversation to tell them about our concerns, and see if their response sheds any light on the situation. Sometimes I ask people leading questions about their thought process when making something instead of just telling them to quit being racist.
Inevitably, no matter what I do, I worry that Iâm not using the right level of forcefulness. But I guess sitting here and angsting about the appropriateness of my approach is still better than doing nothing.
7. No one really answered my "what is the boundary" question at all. What I should have asked is, are you willing to recognize that you have a willing tolerance for antiblackness? That there is a certain amount that you are okay with allowing before thinking it's worth speaking up?
Yes, and I think itâs tied to my struggle to judge situations. Thereâs a certain threshold of racism under which I canât identify it with enough accuracy to feel comfortable making a callout. But againâmaybe âpublic calloutâ and âdo nothingâ are not the only two possible responses.
Okay so after sitting on the responses from yesterday's question, I have some follow up questions to what seemed to be some consistent... Themes in the answers.
Like yesterday, I am asking with intent to listen (and maybe ask more questions) so I will not be arguing- at best, you'll get a "hm" to acknowledge i saw what you said.
My follow up questions:
1. There are a lot of people who think they're the only one who would speak up. Imagine what would happen if everyone who thought they were the only one... Spoke. But even if you do think you're alone... Why is antiracism not worth standing alone for?
2. There is a difference between feeding the trolls and speaking up when something wrong is happening. Do you feel people are more comfortable assuming the former so that they don't have to interact via the latter?
3. Why do we think that bigotry will go away if it goes unaddressed? Is that how you also feel about bigotry that you experience via your other identities?
4. Why should we entertain and prioritize the annoyance of bigots? Why do you not deserve to be here and have a safe, comfortable space any more than they do?
6. If everyone only hangs around people who aren't antiblack, why is the space still so overwhelmingly antiblack? Have you considered that you cannot adequately judge from within?
7. No one really answered my "what is the boundary" question at all. What I should have asked is, are you willing to recognize that you have a willing tolerance for antiblackness? That there is a certain amount that you are okay with allowing before thinking it's worth speaking up?
*I also want to note that I'm not directing this to Black fans. I know that the context changes when you have to fight. I'm asking the people who have the privilege of fighting antiblackness while not having the identity. I.e. some marginal power in the area.

Something that has really bugged me about season two is Jinx's hallucinations and PTSD. It magically disappears when Silco dies, save for two scenes. I remember when people on reddit were literally making jokes about the writers going this route because it would be so stupid.
One of the things I loved about season one was the realistic depictions of mental illness that you just don't see often in media. I don't know what it is like to experience schizophrenia, but I have experienced PTSD and paranoia, and seeing how it was represented in Arcane was actually one of the things that helped me through it.
And then season 2 comes around and they just completely neglect this side of Jinx.
PTSD isn't a switch that can magically be flipped off. Recovery is a slow and gradual process. In absolutely no world would Jinx killing yet another family member cure her of her conditions, it would make them 10 times worse. Not to mention just before killing him she has an extremely severe psychotic episode, which would only make forgetting her trauma even more difficult since it was just brought up fresh in her mind.
And what even about the end of s1 was it that healed her? I genuinely have no idea, because she finally chooses Jinx only to once again go back and forth between Jinx and Powder in season two, because apparently all that buildup for her final decision was for nothing.
She does experience two hallucinations (I'm not going to count the jail silco thing in act three because what even was that?) when she sees enforcer Vi and when Sevika talks about the attack at Vander's statue, but suddenly that is all that triggers her?
In season one, just seeing Vi, or even someone who looks like Vi triggers her. But now when Vi is literally trying to capture and possibly kill her she is fine, it's only the mask that bothers her? Wasn't that her worst fear, that Silco and Sevika were right, that Vi only wanted to stop her? And she is constantly triggered by Cait in season 1 but not 2?
And then there was the insulting ending, where jail Silco tells Jinx to 'break the cycle' (something he would absolutely never do) and Jinx finally finds redemption by literally killing herself after Isha kills herself in what is framed as an act of heroism (and if Jinx actually didnt, than what even was the point of that scene?) What happened to Ekko trying to stop Jinx from doing that? What happened to Silco having Singed revive her to save her life after she attempts to take it? Or Jayce and Viktor talking each other out of it? Or Silco choosing to keep fighting rather than give into the "peace in water"?
On purpose or not season 2 frames suicide as a glorious, edgy, perhaps even necessary thing and it's disgusting.

Love Game is Eastern Fantasy works so well (for me at least) is because while there are several other cdrama fantasies addressing similar themes with transmigration tropes, the writing here is actually pretty solid. Like, there is proper logical progression of things, and I can tell they put some thought behind the plot and didn't just fill pages, solely relying on the leads' acting and their chemistry to carry subpar writing/execution *cough* ofl *cough*
Things such as Miaomiao's backstory with her dad, foreshadowing scenes that don't feel casually slapped together, absence of irrelevant romantic scenes just to fill screentime (which is why I really appreciate whatever scenes we get of Miaomiao and Ziqi), giving each main character a proper arc instead of having them behave like NPCs, being consistent with the rules of the gaming world we're introduced to, not lingering on silly misunderstandings, actually resolving smaller issues and conflicts before moving on to bigger ones, not forgetting about an open plot point after a while, effectively keeping up the suspense and compelling the audience to second-guess and theorize what's to happen (very tricky to pull off imo when you're airing episodes daily), showing gradual development of romance between the two couples, utilizing talented actors who seem to have a solid understanding of the motivations, nuances and overall pulse of the characters they play. There are many other things too, like the incredible acting skills Ding Yuxi and Yu Shuxin bring along with the natural chemistry they have off-screen that translates so well on screen, as well as the fact that they make Ziqi and Miaomiao uniquely theirs, making it a much more enjoyable ride. I learned recently that there were several scriptwriters for this, with the main scriptwriter being the same person who wrote for LBFAD (correct me if I'm wrong though)--that might explain why I like this writing so much, even though it deviates from the og web novel.
Even the final episodes (where most cdrama fantasies often mess up, especially with isekai/transmigration tropes) go above and beyond tying up ALL the loose ends and connecting every clue every foreshadowing every disjointed bits of information that we see throughout the show, ultimately creating this beautiful beautiful piece of art that is LGIEF.
And that final statement from Fu Zhou? Ugh I love how they conveyed that idea.
Hands down my favorite cdrama after LBFAD.

Escaping | Azriel x High Fae
summary: Azriel carries his mate off to a much-needed picnic, away from her duties at the Court of Dreams.
word counter: 3.2k
warnings: none, pure fluff, Az being a simp for his woman, mentions of reader being an empath/reader having empathic abilities, Azâs pet names being always accompanied by âmyâ (bc he needs to remind himself constantly that sheâs indeed his), reader is part of the Night Court ever since
authorâs note: This is also my first time writing anything for ACOTAR, so please be gentle with me, but I just had to, okay? Az deserves every ounce of happiness I can offer him. Iâm sorry I named the reader toward the end, but I just had to :x It's easily ignorable <3 Also: This is my first time writing and uploding anything in a minute, so this is definitely not perfect
Dividers are made by @enchanthings and @sweetmelodygraphics <3
He had planned this little escape for weeks now, always trying to find the perfect moment to whisk his mate away between duties and obligations, only to grant her and himself a much-needed break from quite literally everything. His shadows had been restless ever since, just as their wielder, the growing stress and frustration traveling along their strong mating bond only a figment of an indication of how she grew to feel every morning she awoke to tend to the court and their cause to protect and free Prythian in the War looming on the horizon.
And today had been finally the perfect dayâdue to Rhysâ helping hand after he had seen the growing and building anxiety of his brother.
âIs it not strange how adamant Rhys has acted earlier? I think itâs weird. Do you think I should go and check up on him later? Maybe trying to ease his mind? I think I should.â Her sweet, melodic voice filled the warm air, and a rare chuckle escaped the spymaster at her fast-working mind. Gently, he took the blanket out of her arms, placing it over the arm that already carried the basket filled with all her favorites, and tenderly, his free arm found its home around her waist, pulling her closer to his side.
A perfect fit. It was as if the Mother and the Cauldron had molded them to fit just as perfectly as two puzzle pieces. Made for one another⊠He still couldnât grasp how his lifelong wish had been answered and granted after so many centuries.
Azrielâs head dipped to press a lingering kiss to her temple, his nose slightly buried in her soft strands, the soothing scent overpowering the scents wafting around them. âWill you scold me if I tell you how I asked him to give us at least today to ourselves?â His voice was soft, tender, a loving and humored edge to it. Hazel eyes began to twinkle as she looked up at him, meeting his gaze, not surprised in the slightest at his revelation, and the teasing twinkle in her eyes in return made his lips twitch into a smile. âDid you now?â She teased and nudged his side, tickling Az because she knew of every existing weak spotâthe only person aside from Cassian and Rhys. Her growing smile made him feel light, free, and still, it was the most exhilarating thing he had ever achieved in his long life; felt as if his heart might explode any second when she turned and stretched slightly to press a kiss to his jawline. Reaching further wasnât possible with the towering male walking beside her. âThank you, my love.â Only a whisper, but loud enough to travel to his ears, accompanied by the warm and fuzzy feeling sent down the bond by her.
Another pull with the arm around her waist put her even closerâif that was even possibleâand Azriel couldnât hold back the urge within him to kiss her soft lips he had already kissed so often ever since they had accepted their mating bond. Still, it wasnât often enough, in his opinion. Giving in, the shadowsinger stopped their path in the hidden passageway towards the lush green rolling hills along the coast of Velaris and slowly bent his body, letting their noses run alongside one another. âNothing to thank me for, my darling,â he hummed, lips almost already touching in the softest of kisses, and he felt her fingers run through the short hair at the nape of his neck, pulling him closer to her and letting their lips melt into one. Neither he nor she could tell where the kiss started and where it ended, where his lips began and hers ended.
The low rumble of her stomach put a pause to their antics, and Az hummed once again before entwining their fingers and continued on their path. âLetâs find a place where we can ease that growl, my darling.â
Wildflowers of all kinds surrounded the place they had finally settled onâthe glittering ocean right next to them, the rolling green hills as far as sight could reach, and Velaris in the close distance, beautiful as it had always been. Az had made himself comfortable on the blanket, the picnic basket opened right next to him, his body propped up on his forearms, and his eyes followed his mate as she strolled through the flowers. He could see her fingertips gracing the soft petals that stretched their colorful heads towards the sun, his shadows slowly, almost lazily winding around her wrist and fingers, always keeping her company, making sure she was alright. Not that Azriel minded their own ways, but sometimes he suspected they might abandon him entirely for her if they had the chanceâand the shadowsinger couldnât blame them either. He would do the same if it meant being at her side at all times.
âEat at least a bite,â he now called over to her as she picked the first flower. She only spared a quick glance at him, but her radiant smile couldnât fool him, nor could it hide the roll of her eyes. âYes, yes. Only a minute, love.â Azriel himself rolled his eyes now, but the tuck at his lips was too strong to withstand it. Not when they were alone, not when she was the cause of that rare smile sneaking its way onto his face.
So, he watched her while already eating some of the fresh berries, patiently waiting, eyes moving when she moved toward the next flower in full bloom, bending down to pick her, placing the delicate thing in the soft embrace of her arm he knew wouldnât dare crush her new possession. She wasnât violent or cruel to beings who couldnât defend themselves, who didnât possess a single malicious thought in their entire body. And even for those who might commit evil deeds, she still held compassion if necessary. By the Cauldron, she even had accepted him from the very beginning of their friendship all those centuries ago when Rhys had brought her into the Court of Dreams, right after the War had been won.
A sigh left him when she finally strolled toward him in her pretty flowy dress, hair flowing in the warm breeze, her smile growing the closer she got to him. âWhat am I supposed to do with you, hm?â Az had pushed himself from his arms into a sitting position, legs slightly crossed, an arm resting on his muscular thigh, while the other reached for her, enveloping her fingers as she sank onto the blanket and pressed a kiss to her knuckles. The sound of his wings stretching and rustling behind him accompanied her adorable chuckle, and he almost melted at the sight of her shining eyes when she pressed his scarred palm against her cheek, her lips leaving a warm mark on it, letting him forget about the pain of the past in an instant.
She had that power over him.
âAz, you had more than four centuries to get used to my antics.â Grinning, her lips pressed another set of kisses to his palm before letting his hand sink onto her knee, where it immediately started to wander and found its place on her thigh, squeezing it tenderly. âI should know by now, you mean?â A nod followed his question, grin still prominent on her lips, but he felt her concentration slip toward the many flowers she had sprayed over the blanket in front of her, and her soft and delicate fingers had already started to weave some of them together. âPerhaps even a lifetime isnât long enough,â he dared to hum and tease, moving closer toward her side and holding a strawberry in front of her lips. The tip of Azrielâs nose nudged her temple, and she took a bite, sighing in satisfaction. âPerhaps.â The sweet berry muffled her words, and without thinking or even considering he was prepared for it, the woman scooted closer and leaned backward, pressing her back against her mateâs strong chestâbecause he had been ready. He was always ready and always there if she needed or craved anything.
Even though the bond had taken its sweet time before it had finally snapped into place, they had been close from the beginning, a mutual feeling of closeness and understanding the root and foundation of their slowly blooming friendship. And over the decades and centuries, they had started to learn to know one another. Now, with the bond in its rightful place, it all was merely heightened; no longer a want to fulfill anything they wished for, but an urging need. So Az just knew without thinking when she needed his arms wrapped tightly around her body, his chest pressing against her back like a steadfast wall in a sea of uncertainty and fear.
His chin rested on her right shoulder, the strong and powerful wings softly tucked behind his back, granting the sunlight to kiss and warm her skin while she weaved flower after flower in a steadily growing circle.
âWhen all of this is overâŠâ The soft voice of his mate traveled alongside the warm breeze. âWhen all is over, Iâd like to leave for a while. Just⊠the two of us. Somewhere enjoying life itself, forgetting about War, bloodshed, and intrigues. Healing and growing,â she continued even softer, reminding him once again of her calm and peaceful nature, and Azriel felt how she longed for all those things after everything that had happened in the past fifty years. He didnât dare to think about all that had happened Under the Mountain when she had been forced to live there, didnât try to recollect everything she had shared with him in those days after Rhys and she had finally returned to Velaris.
All that was important was the exploding sensation of relief since she had followed Rhys over the threshold in the House of Wind, stepping out of the shadow of his broad back and came running right to him. That immaculate sensation had been his companion since that day.
Burrowing his face into the warm crook of her neck, the spymaster released a deep breath. âWhatever you wish, my darling,â he whispered against her skin, making her giggle and squirm in his grasp. âAz! Stop it, or my flower crown will be ruined!â He hid the growing smirk against her skin and nipped at one of her weak spots, making it tickle once more. âThey always turn out beautiful.â Azriel could practically feel the playful roll of her eyes at his words, and dutifully, he picked the next flower for her to weave into the growing circle before a small lemon tart found its way to her lips, reminding his mate that they indeed had something else in mind when they had left the House of Wind earlier.
The deep, soft sighing after the first bite of the masterfully baked tart warmed his heart, and Azriel didnât object in the slightest when the small cake was eaten within a heartbeat, her sweet tooth demanding even more after weeks of relinquishment because they had all been so busy with the preparations for the meeting with Prythianâs High Lords.
âAnother one?â He whispered quietly as the shadows now surrounded their legs, resting like they did. âDo we have one of these tiny strawberry cakes we had for Starfall?â Immediately, the memory of the last festivities occupied his mind as he looked for the mentioned dessert and presented it to her like an offering to the gods in his open, scarred palm. âMy Lady.â She chuckled at that and abandoned the almost finished flower crown with a gentle âThank you, my Lord,â only to take the delicate cake and took a savoring bite out of it.
âHave I ever told you how beautiful you looked at Starfall? More radiant as the starsâŠâ Azâs voice trailed off into the distance, pictures of that night clouding his mind once again. As she turned her head to look at him with that one smile entirely reserved for his eyes, he pulled back and let her kiss his lips in a heart-wrenchingly soft kiss. âYou told me that countless times, my love. Especially when you see the dress hanging in the armoire.â She grinned at that, making him almost blush. âBut do I need to remind you how handsome and dashing you looked that night? All those ladies turning and twisting their heads as soon as you walked through the roomâŠâ Even though she knew that no one could take her mate, the bitter feeling of jealousy boiled in her blood for just a second before it vanished at the glowing and warm, but also shadowy feeling of their bond, reminding her once again that they were bound for the rest of their existence.
âNo need to be jealous, my darling. There was never anyone but you, and there will never be anyone but you.â
His index finger under her chin moved her face upward to face him, skin touching skin and lips brushing over even softer lips. âI know,â she whispered against Azriel, and for a moment, she leaned her forehead against the strong line of his jaw, feeling him pressing a tender kiss on her hairline.
A rumble in the far-off distance let them look up at last, and both watched the building and rolling clouds over the sea, knowing that rain was a mere thought away. But still, they took their time.
Az continued to feed them both, watching her tirelessly weaving flower after flower into the crown, humming a tune they had danced to countless times by now and savoring the warmth radiating off his body. âAnother one for Elain?â Azriel dared to ask as she seemed to be done. All the flowers she had gathered were woven into a beautiful, intricate pattern, and none were wasted. His mate had started to bring Elain flowers and plants in all their forms, especially ones only growing in their lands and not behind the wall, explaining their nature, natural habitats, uses, and sometimes hidden beauty. She was so soft and gentle with the young female that Azriel had to ask himselfâmore often than not, if he was honestâif she would be like this to their children if they ever were allowed that sort of happiness.
He let her sit up and turn onto her knees, holding the crown in her delicate fingers. She shook her head, an unsure smile now surfacing on her lips, as she softly placed it on top of his dark hair. âI never made one for you, my love.â He was stunned, not daring to move nor touch the petals now resting on his head. âYou donât have to keep it, of course. If you donât like it, I can just bring it to Elain, and weâll forget about it. Itâs silly anywa-â He stopped her right then and there by pulling her close and kissing her fiercely, only holding himself back from roaring down their bond and scaring the living daylights out of her. He took great pride in the fact how breathless his mate was when Az finally ended the kiss, how gleaming her eyes were when she looked at him, how the blush that had crept to her cheeks made them glow, how her fingers gripped the fabric over his chest to steady herself. âDonât you dare take it,â he growled and kissed her once more, shorter this time, less desperate, and still tickled those delicious sounds out of her body he still kept reveling in, even after all this time.
The first drop falling from the heavens made them part, and while she started to collect their things to pack them safely into the basket and fold the picnic blanket, Azriel spread his wings to protect his mate from the mighty raindrops. When they were ready to winnow to the barriers of the House of Wind, the summer downpour had already picked up its intensity and soaked the two from head to toe. However, their laughter still lingered over their sacred space of Velaris even after they winnowed away.
Feyreâs brows creased in worry as she looked out the many windows in the palace atop the mountain, overlooking Velaris during the downpour that had been foreseen. The heavy drops splattered against the glass, making it difficult to discern any shape moving in the distance. She knew the rain wouldnât harm them, but the thunderstorm rolling over the hills induced an anxiety within her that she could barely contain.
âFeyre, darling?â
Rhysâ voice let her spin away from the windows, facing her mate who had stood from his desk he had worked on for the past couple of hours, and walked closer toward her, worry furrowing his forehead. âWhat is wrong?â He wrapped his strong arms around her body, and the High Lady sighed deeply as she sank into the embrace. âNothing, IâŠâ The first roaring thunder let her pause for a moment. âAz and Gwyn havenât returned yet.â Violet eyes gazed out of the window, brows slightly furrowed in concentration as he tried to make out the shapes in the gloomy light of the early evening.
Then, a smile spread across his handsome face, and Feyre turned to see what had happened. âThey are now. Come, my love,â the High Lord coaxed his mate toward the door to meet the pair down the hall to greet them. She followed him without hesitation, needing to see for herself that both her friends returned without harm, and had to know if they enjoyed their afternoon, needing all the raunchy details Gwyn would spill over a glass of faery wine and a warm fire.
They only made it atop the stairwell leading down into the hall that housed the balcony primarily used to enter the House of Wind, and the pair watched a dripping Gwyn pulling a not-less-dripping Azriel inside, a laugh dancing on her lips.
The Illyrian shook the rain off his shoulders and wings, eyes entirely focused on the brightly smiling High Fae before him. Without a thought, he let the basket drop to the floor, not sparing a single second for its whereabouts after because his entire being narrowed down to the bond beating in his chest, demanding intimacy, closeness, with the female he desired and loved more than life itself. A shriek escaped Gwyn between laughter as Az playfully pounced on her, wrapping her in his strong arms and lifting her off the ground in one smooth motion, moaning deep in his throat at the first taste of her lips drenched in rain droplets.
As he carried her down the hall toward their shared bedchambers in long, purposeful strides, flower crown still proudly atop his head, Gwyn laughed: âAz, the basket!â The pair above the stairs could only hear him say, âIt can wait until Iâm drunk and delirious on you,â before a door closed, and Feyre finally allowed the giggle to escape her she had held onto for so long.
Rhys shook his head with a humored grin, pulling the female next to him closer to his chest. âMy spymaster wearing a flower crown? I wonât ever let him forget it,â he chuckled deeply, amusement and happiness dancing across his face, especially as Feyre hit his chest in warning. âDonât you dare tease him about it!â The male grinned at that, pulling her face toward him, and pressed a lingering kiss to her lips. âI canât make such promises, Feyre darling unless you are interested in a little deal with your beloved mate.â
Now, it was her turn to let a laugh freely echo through the halls.
Thank you everyone for reading! As usual: I'd love to read your thoughts and comments, perhaps you have an idea for a future Azriel - or any ACOTAR character - fanfiction you'd want me to write. Also, likes and reblogs are very much appreciated! <3

amethio, silver x hex maniac reader.
requested
amethio and silver! oreo and jalapeño duo (this is separated.) sorry for the big wait, school is biting my toes. uhh silvers is very short, because I feel like ive mentioned most of the things silver would do in other fics. I don't wanna seem repetitive or uncreative!
â AMETHIO
amethio would initially be unsure what to make of you. your eerie aura and cryptic way of speaking would intrigue him, but heâd be cautious. heâs logical, so heâd view what you do as something he needs to understand rather than dismiss, because every person is different why judge them. heâd probably think, "are they like this all the time?" when you casually mention something spooky like the âghosts watching overâ him.
amethioâs edgy demeanor and your crazy words would balance each other out. heâd act as the grounded counterpart to your whimsical nature, often giving you a deadpan look when you go off on a supernatural tangent.
âamethio, the spirit (random gengar) says this battle will be tough.â
âthe spirit is stating the obvious.â
your comments often catch him off guard, not because he gets scared of it. it's just becuse you just say it so randomly it's kind of concerning, leading to some amusing exchanges.
âThe ghosts approve of you, amethio.â
âgood to know. now, tell them to get out out of my way.â
your unpredictability often throws him off balance. whether itâs your cryptic compliments (âthe spirits find you quite handsome todayâ) or your sudden affection, he finds himself flustered more often than heâd like to admit.
your spooky vibe complements his calm and calculated style perfectly. heâd use your unnerving presence to throw off opponents while he plans a precise attack. he might even ask you for ïżœïżœïżœspiritual adviceâ during critical missions, though youâre never quite sure if heâs joking or went insane.
he isn't really phased from ghosts, neither is his pokemon. ceruledge is one of the few pokĂ©mon that isnât fazed by your team. it often stands protectively between amethio and your more mischievous PokĂ©mon like (for example) misdreavus, who enjoys pranking people by floating off with their belongings. ceruledge gets really paranoid and assumes all your ghosts are evil at first.
amethio never disregards your interests, and tries his best help you enjoy them, even if he's not a fan of it himself.
â SILVER
silver is honestly pretty game with whatever crazy stuff you do, he didn't stop loving you after you did questionable things in order to see ghosts (he'd be apart of it anyway.)
first time meeting you silver already felt discomfort/concern. (not negative) heâd wonder if you had some hidden agenda, but over time, heâd notice how kind and sincere you are, even with your random outbursts, which would ease his initial distrust.
silver reluctantly tags along when you explore spooky ruins or abandoned buildings to âconnect with spirits.â heâd grumble about how impractical it is, but goes anyway. (his honchkrow becomes your flashlight during these adventures.)
your spooky jokes and ghostly references catch him off guard, but he grows to enjoy your sense of humor. he wonât laugh out loud, but the corner of his mouth quirks up when you say something particularly clever. silver might even use them too, but to an extent. gold never understand the jokes...
when travelling on a mission sent by professor oak by the dex holders (gold, and crys mostly) he makes sure to find and pick up eerie trinkets and paranormal items to give to you on his return. he'd just silently sneak them in his pocket without the other two knowing, sometimes what he does though leads to a bigger problem.
"hey silver what are you doing! this place is completely abandoned don't touch that!" crys silently yelled (if you get it) in the corner.
silver unresponsive, shrugs and picks it up... suddenly a locked door opens "WHAT DID YOU DO?" gold yelled from the other room, echoing through the entire building.
"silver you pay for my life insurance."
"it's just another room, there might be something important we could give to professor oak there. you guys are just overreacting."
"GHOST!"
silver knows alot of paranormal information because of you, and it definitely saved the 3 idiots lifes maybe twice. lesson learned: don't go to abandoned haunted building, (unless you're a hex maniac the ghosts are pretty cool with you.)
it's not just him that gives the other trinkets, it's also vice-versa! you gift silver supposedly "haunted" charms, he's skeptical but carries it around anyway. when he wins a tough match, you proudly point at the many trinkets you gave him.
"the spirits were with you, horray!" you say celebrating.
"or maybe it was my training, but you know that works too."
silver has a beef with your pokemon, doesn't matter which he hates them and they hate him. (don't worry though) your pokemon like taunting him and whenever he complains, you brush it off as them bonding together.
âtell your pokĂ©mon to stop stealing my items,â he says, holding up a pokĂ© ball with a stone faced expression.
âitâs just trying to bond with you!â you reply.
â...bond less.â

No negativity towards other ships, just some thoughts
(sorry for the mistakes, English is not my native language)
Before I started watching the show, I didn't know much about it. Just that it was mysterious, beautiful and weird in a good way. But then I went on Tumblr. I saw a million gifs, and I was sure that Charles was in love with Edwin, and Edwin didn't realize that he was in love him back. Imagine my surprise when I discovered, scrolling through the posts further, that Charles - the boy with heart-shaped eyes and sweet smiles - "rejected" Edwin.
When i finally wached dbd, i realized that i wasn't so wrong. Charles clearly adores Edwin with his bitchy manners and kindness. And it's hard to call it "rejection". He didn't say "sorry, i'm not in love with you". He had entertained the possibility even when he hadn't had time to think about it.
On the roof, he hadn't been embarrassed by Edwin's confession, he'd been delighted by it. He had his own "đ°đ©" moment after the hug in 1.08 like Edwin did in 1.05. And the final shots prove that he's not just aware of his feelings, he's acting on them. He's flirting purposefully, no one can convince me otherwise. And Edwin knows it. He's not upset that Charles is playing with his feelings. He enjoys it because he knows that something is going on between them.
And in my opinion, the decisions with the Edwin's "crush" and tck are quite strange (with all due respect to the catwin shippers). And Charles and Crystal's attempts at romance in season two, too (with all due respect to the cryland shippers). Crystal needs to figure out who she is and she doesn't need a complicated relationship with anyone right now, especially after David. Especially not with one of her closest people, who she could lose because of an doomed affair that will hurt both of them.
The last episode showed both Charles and Edwin consciously moving towards a relationship with each other, and showing them in season two looking for a relationship with someone else feels like a throwback to what happened in the middle of season one.
I know many people want "pining", I love it myself. But life is complicated enough, and I'm so tired of shows where it's obvious that the main couple is in love with each other, but they're always with other people. And after a million seasons, when the creators can't come up with another reason for pining and the fans get tired of waiting, the couple finally gets back together but creators often dump the show because they can't write anything but pining.
I'm afraid of this with dbd. Experience shows that even the most amazing show can be dumped.

That scene is so juvenile, too. They brought an unannounced guest and aren't even willing to help with dinner. Taash is not a teenager, they're sheltered, but goddamn they are an ass to their mom on arrival. I understand being anxious and nervous about the whole thing but if this game really wants to foster a decent approach to this kind of convo, Taash needs to be willing to approach this thing like the adult they sre. You pitch in, you keep the other party appraised. Taash was just incredibly rude to their baffled mom and then expects the outcome to be good and the game doesn't even let Rook take them aside about it! You can ditch harmless early game convos between geeky companions but you can't tell Taash to cut this shit off.
the worst part is, it COULD have worked if it was written with intent. like, in a different game with a different audience and a different writer, we'd have a complicated single mother who comes from an often demonised culture with a different understanding of gender, who is tough on her child because she feels she has to to keep them safe. meanwhile, her child is rebelling against this culture because they attribute it to their feelings of being stifled by societal gendered expectations, despite these feelings probably equally coming from the incredibly gendered society they grew up in. even without the qun vs rivain thing, entitled only child + terse single mother is a classic dynamic - taash stomps around when asked to make dinner, theyre 20ish and don't understand it's rude to bring guests over uninvited, meanwhile their mother refuses to treat them like an adult and acts as though they're incapable to keep them close to her. this is FUN and if weekes actually did anything with it it could have been a unique way of using fantasy to explore a trans narrative that goes slightly further than what you'd find in a late season episode of glee.
imo the two issues are this: firstly, weekes seems completely uninterested in meaningfully exploring culture or race - the blame for this can't be placed solely on them but like... a lot of the issues with ignoring how real life OR fantasy race and culture may exist in worldbuilding seems to kind of gravitate in their general direction lol. it's present in solas it's egregious with taash and even cole is massive wasted opportunity in looking at societal power dynamics with the mage-templar conflict. EVEN with lgbt stuff, the way they're writing taash as a nonbinary person feels very... void of thinking deeply about gender and how it can change in different societal contexts, and it's clear that they're more comfortable writing about the trans part of their character than tackling the qunari/rivain plot.
secondly, the audience is a roadblock in writing a good trans narrative, but somehow they ran face first into it and died badly. even though there are parts of the game that are very obviously catered to trans people (i find the dialogue options rook has to be WAY more nuanced and well written than what they do with taash), taash is a major character who is going to be experienced by a majority cis audience - there was no way they were going to be doing "i saw the sending crystal glow". but like. at the same time i think the way they've portrayed them as immature and stomping around saying "you don't get to define me!!!!!!" does not leave a good impression lol. like i hate to judge trans art through the way it'll be received by cis people buuuut when it feels like it was made with a cis audience in mind it's something to consider. and something that makes me embarrassed whenever taash is mad at their mum for not falling over herself to tell them they can exhale now. some of the scenes, like the infamous pushup scene honestly just felt like bait to get transphobes talking about the game - and who is that for? what trans person wants someone to make a fuss when misgendering them and what clueless cis person is going to see that scene and come away with normal ideas about what happens when you misgender someone?
sorry i think i went totally off topic here but like. yeah. it's bad. i love rude characters usually and i kind of like it when they get mean since nobody else will but none of the choices made here were good
#ask#anonymous#veilguard spoilers#sorry this is probably mean and incoherent im so tired and hopefully about to fall asleep

Moments in Between - Chapter 3
Lucanis Dellamorte x Grey Warden!Rook
Chapter 2
Read on AO3
Summary: Rook has a nightmare and Lucanis has a funeral to arrange.
A/N: I didn't like this chapter that much but it needed to get done. I'm still figuring out where this story is going. Also MAJOR SPOILERS FOR DATV AT THE END (its about one of the big reveals in the third act)!!!
Another night, another nightmare.
She was amongst them, one more darkspawn in the middle of the hoard. Her thoughts were not her own, as she heard the sweet calling of the archdemon, beckoning them to keep digging.Â
Just keep digging. Digging. Find it. Find the source of the song.Â
Come to me.Â
The sound of metal against stone echoed in her head, each time louder and louder until the earth exploded, as a pair of giant wings emerged and the intense roaring of the Archdemon shook everything around her.Â
Rook woke up in a cold sweat, her heart hammering in her chest, her mouth dry. Standing on shaky legs, she didnât know what to do.Â
Ever since her Joining, she too had struggled with nightmares, but none that ever felt thisâŠreal. And none that featured an archdemon.Â
She could feel her feet taking her somewhere, her body moved even if her mind didnât command it to. She stopped, not knowing where she was until a voice spoke her name.Â
âRook, are you alright? You look pale.â She heard someone speak, her mind still trying to catch on. The voice was familiar, but the sound of her own ragged breath muffled the next sentences.Â
Next thing she knew, calloused hands with a gentle touch led her to a chair, helping her sit down. A water cup was put in her hands. Slowly, and with help, she brought it to her lips and drank almost everything.Â
Rook closed her eyes and took a deep breath, trying to steady herself. When she opened them, she was met with a certain crow crouching in front of her, his eyes filled with concern.Â
âLucanis.â She whispered, as her mind cleared, looking around the room. âHi.â She saw his face relax a bit after she spoke.Â
âWhat happened?â He asked, softly. He covered her hands, the ones holding the water, with his own. âYouâre shaking and you look like youâve seen a ghost.â
She gave him a small chuckle that sounded more like a gasp. âIâŠI had a nightmare. A very, very, bad one.â
Lucanis nodded and stood up. He thought for a moment and then said âIf you want, I can make you something to eat.âÂ
âIâŠthank you.â She took a deep breath and exhaled slowly before saying âCan you make that chocolate drink? The one from the cafĂ©.âÂ
He gave her a small smile. âOf course.âÂ
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw him get to work, as she slowly gathered her thoughts. She had never dreamt with an archdemon before, but she remembered the warden commander telling her about it.Â
âItâs intense, terrifying.â She remembered hearing the commander talk. âThe nightmares are bad on their own, but during a Blight theyâre worse. And when you see the archdemonâŠI was lucky to have Alistair with me.âÂ
She didnât know how much time had passed but the smell of hot chocolate filled her nostrils, as her empty water cup was replaced.Â
âThank you, Lucanis.â He nodded and began to walk away, into the pantry. âCan IâŠask you for a favor?â She said, unsure.Â
âWhat is it?â
âCould you keep me company? Just for a while.âÂ
He stood there, thinking and for a moment, she thought she had overstepped, until he grabbed his cup of coffee and sat on the chair opposite to hers. The two drank in silence, until Rook asked âDo you also have bad dreams?âÂ
âSometimes, although lack of sleep prevents them. Do you have them often?âÂ
âAll the time. It comes with being a warden.âÂ
His head tilted to the side. âI donât understand.âÂ
She sighed. âI guess most people donât.â Rook leaned back on her chair, as she thought of a way to explain it. âBecause of our connection to the blight, we often have dreams with them - the darkspawn, the taint. And if youâre unlucky enough, youâll dream with the archdemon.âÂ
âAnd Iâm guessing that was the cause of your nightmare.â
Rook nodded. âI had never dreamed of one before. Theyâre not really supposed to happen unless a Blight is going on, and even then, Iâd thought weâd have more time beforeâŠâ
âBefore, what?âÂ
âBefore an archdemon was uncovered.â She took another drink before asking âDo you know how they came to be?â When Lucanis shook his head, she explained âThe darkspawn, theyâre always digging, looking for the Old Gods trapped beneath the earth. They call them constantly until they get them out. The Old God is then corrupted by the taint and becomes the Archdemon. Itâs how we know it's a true blight, if an archdemon is spotted, and usually, our dreams are the first indications we have.âÂ
âSo what youâre saying is that our situation is worse than what it was?âÂ
âExactly.â Rook rubbed her forehead. âI donât know if thereâs any connection between the Old Gods and the Evanuris but if they are controlling the blight and got a hold of one of these archdemonsâŠI donât even want to think of the chaos that would be.âÂ
âIt is something to consider. Have you contacted the rest of your order yet?âÂ
âWe, uhmâŠarenât on the best of terms right now. But maybe Harding and I can come up with something.â She finished her drink by putting it on the table. âThank you, Lucanis.âÂ
âOf course.â He smirked. âBut youâll be owing me a favor.âÂ
âI told you we would all be owing each other.â
She smiled one last time and made the lonely journey back to her room. There was another problem hanging in the back of her mind.Â
If there truly was an archdemon and if this was truly a blightâŠthen her end was nearer than sheâd expected.Â
.Â
It did not take long for Lucanis to reclaim that favor, as the very next day, a letter from Teia arrived.
The walk to the Cantori Diamond had been silent, but Lucanis was glad. Since Teia had told him about the funeral, he hadnât been in the most talkative mood. Â
Still, he had asked Rook to come along, in case Spite got out of hand.Â
But alsoâŠhe needed someone that wasnât so involved, so familiar to be there.Â
Once they arrived at the casino, Teia and Viago greeted them.Â
âGood, youâre here.â The Seventh Talon said.Â
âThank you for making the arrangements, Teia.âÂ
âFor CaterinaâŠhow could I do otherwise. Iâm so sorry, Lucanis, this must be such a blow.â She turned to Rook. âThank you for coming with him. I need one Dellamorte to plan this. His cousin has been no help at all.â
âIâm sorry, Teia.â Illario said mournfully. âThis is justâŠtoo much right now.âÂ
Besides him, Rook took a deep breath and said âIf thereâs anything I can do to help, just say the word.âÂ
That was the other reason why he had asked her to come along. After a year surrounded by Venatori, having someone soâŠnice around was a breath of fresh air.Â
âYouâre such a dear.â Teia smiled. âI hope these two are paying attention.âÂ
Lucanis noticed the familiar, charming tone Teia used when talking to Rook, and he shifted the weight from his feet, slightly uncomfortable at the notion. âTeia, donât flirt with myâŠâ he stopped himself.Â
What were they? Teammates? Friends?Â
âColleague.â Was the word he settled on, hoping the others did not notice his hesitation.
âJealous? Fine, to business, then.â Teia said. âThereâs a lot to plan, but first, I need the ashes.âÂ
âAshes?â Illario asked, causing Lucanis to frown. His cousin seemed too surprised, though he couldnât blame him. With how fast things had beenâŠ
âMaker help us, yes, the ashes! Caterinaâs ashes. From the cremation?â
âOh. Yes. Of course. Iâll get them to you right away.â His cousin said.Â
In Lucanisâs mind, he had tried to think of every scenario about how this all came to be but there was still too much confusion. Before Illario left, she asked âIllarioâŠwhat happened?âÂ
âWhat do you mean?âÂ
âCaterina. How..? How did the Venatori get to her? When? Where? In the estate? In the city?â He bombarded his cousin with questions. âHow did they get past our people? What did they use? Poison? Blades? I need to know.âÂ
He needed to be prepared. They would come for him too - if he did not find them first.Â
But it was still strange. How could the First Talon had fallen so easily?
âCousin, stop. You canât dwell on this. Itâll drive you mad.âÂ
âI am not dwelling. Zara killed the First Talon. I have to know how, if Iâm going to stop her.âÂ
âI told you. Iâm handling it.âÂ
Illario and his stubbornness. If he continued like this, heâd get himself killed and LucanisâŠhe would be the only one left.Â
He couldnât stand the thought.Â
âBoys! Enough. We have other things to discuss.â Teia intervened.Â
âMy apologies, Andarateia. Continue without me. IâllâŠget you the ashes.â His cousin said and left.Â
Lucanis sighed. He was still as confused as before and Illario seemed to refuse to cooperate. He turned his head, seeing a frown on Rookâs face.Â
âSomethingâs wrong with him. I donât know what.âÂ
âWhen heâs not on the job, my cousin always has his head on the clouds.âÂ
âStillâŠâ
âIllario can be a handful, but thisâŠThe only time Iâve seen him like this was when Lucanis died.â Teia looked at him. âYouâre worrying, arenât you? What will people say when they discover that âthe Demon of Vyrantiumâ has a big, soft heart?âÂ
Lucanis huffed and ignored what she said, opting to focus on Illario. âHeâs been careless at times, but never when his own life was on the line. Zara took down the First Talon. Anyone could be next. And my cousin doesnât want to think about it.âÂ
Teia stopped to think and replied âYou have a point. Itâs not like him to ignore a knife coming in his direction.âÂ
The three stayed there, in silence. Rook was right - there was something wrong with his cousin, but he couldnât tell. He sighed, mentally, not sure of what to do.Â
Lucanis shook his head. He had come here for a reason, and that reason was not worrying about Illario. âWhat do you need from me for the funeral?âÂ
âCome. Iâll get us drinks, and we can make arrangements.â Teia led them further inside the casino.Â
They didnât take long. Mostly, they asked what flowers they should use and where to place them, which people could be invited to the wake, if they should bring a Mother.Â
All sorts of things that made Lucanis wonder how it must have been like for his family when they thought he was dead. If they had done all of this.Â
The only time Iâve seen him like this was when Lucanis died.
And now he might as well be the reason why his cousin would get himself killed.
Before they left, Lucanis spoke with Teia. âOur house owes you for handling all this.âÂ
âCaterina was family. Can you imagine what she'd say if she saw us all like this?â Â
His face lightened. âSheâd be furious. Especially at Illario. As usual.â
Rook, who had stayed mostly quiet until now, spoke âHow did you manage to stay on her good side?âÂ
Lucanis laughed. âWhat good side?âÂ
âTo hear Caterina tell it, Lucanis can do no wrong.â Teia added.
âItâs easy to look good standing next to my cousin.âÂ
Rook smirked. âYouâre not so bad, give yourself some credit.âÂ
Lucanis looked away, remembering the previous night. He then saw Teiaâs eyes narrow, a small rise in one of her brows, before he cleared his throat.Â
Teia straightened her face and said âIâll have my people keep an eye on him for you.âÂ
âThank you, Teia.âÂ
âGo on. Iâll let you know if something comes up.âÂ
They said their goodbyes and left.Â
They were in the middle of the Crossroads, getting close to the Lighthouse eluvian when Rook stopped and asked âAre you ok?âÂ
Lucanis blinked, confused. âWhat do you mean?âÂ
âI meanâŠI donât know what if feels like, but losing your grandma must be hard, right? I just wanted to check in.âÂ
âIf youâre wondering if I can still do my job-â
âItâs not about that.â She shook her head. âIâm asking as a friend. I mean, I hope we are friends, but I justâŠâ She sighed âVarric recently told me that itâs important to check in on your friends, especially when youâre on a mission as big as killing elven gods. SoâŠthatâs what Iâm doing.âÂ
Lucanis stood still. He wasnât used to this sort of caring, much less from someone he knew for such a short period of time, but he could see that Rook was genuine.Â
âI-thank you, Rook. I will be fine.â He said, hoping. âAnd yesâŠI think we can be friends.âÂ
âGood.â She nodded and they kept on walking to the Lighthouse.Â
But a sudden question formed on the back of Lucanisâs head.Â
If Varric was dead, how had Rook talked to him?

there are some posts and discussions about how the culture around "punishment" especially in a like. group (systemic or mob mentality) context is heavily christian in a lot of ways that i largely agree with but also like. iirc the phrase "an eye for an eye" comes from a pre-christian legal code (the code of hammurabi, from like 1750 bce). the idea of responding to someone in kind, or revenge, especially on a interpersonal level is very, very old, and definitely not limited to christianity by any stretch.
#not that (especially on a broader societal level) that makes it more like. objectively productive per se#or like we can't discuss finding other ways to address being harmed or whatever. but for one thing#there's the thing in the above post where people act like this is somehow an impulse unique to christianity. it's not.#there may be some contexts in which it feeds into and flavors everything but if you're just talking about#any form of what could be considered retaliatory justice then. no. for another a lot of people seem not to be making#the distinction between 1. interpersonal/ small scale shit and societal/larger group shit. which idk if i agree with.#and 2. between like. pursuit of better ways to go about things in a broader social context informed by what is#Effective and likely to create the best society vs like. what you want personally to happen to someone on an individual level#which may not be motivated by what you think would be objectively best for society at large#and on another note connected to 2 a lot of people seem to think that the 'goal'/appeal of revenge/similar#is to 'fix' whatever happened and make it like it was before. and i think that just straight up#fundamentally misunderstands what the appeal is for a lot of people. like it's not like a bunch of people are stupid enough to think#it will 'fix' things so much as it would make them feel better/'avenge' the person originally wronged. and you can't really say#it won't make them feel better because for some people it does. and for some people it is literally what the 'avenged' person would have#wanted and they may have even explicitly said that. like i feel there are two different conversations happening#but they're being framed as if they're the same thing. and one is about like. what is objectively best on a broad society wide level#and the other is an often more complicated question of individual personal situations and motivations and values. and someone might decide#they want to prioritize the former and that from their understanding that means the latter can never be meaningfully applied#without inherent fundamental conflict but idk if that's like. a given. and also i think the assumption#that it is kind of just passes over a bunch of shit without really addressing it in its actual context#mypost

Yandere knight who wants you instead of the princess.
Dead dove Do not Eat Tw. For noncon, MDNI, Fem pov
Yandere knight who has been training in the palace for a very long time. It's an honor for a commoner like him to even set foot into the castle walls, so he works earnestly.
Yandere knight who's been catching glimpses of not only the lovely princess throughout the years, but her handmaidens as well. You're a daughter of a somewhat lesser noble house, and therefore you have essentially been given to the royal family until you're eventually married off to another courtier.
But of all the noble ladies, who often ignore him, he finds you to be the most approachable and kind to him and the other squires. He's developed a bit of a crush on you over the years, and he eventually found it in himself to express his feelings. They were innocent and pure then, and he stood there blushing and awkward waiting for you to accept or deny. He would've taken a no from you. Really, he would have.
But then that pompous bitch got in the way.
The princess had you pulled away by her other attendants before you could answer, and she all but sneered at him.
"My maids are not for common rife like you to sully," she spat, a look of disdain carved on her delicate features.
Yandere knight who was deployed to the battlefront soon after. He spent years in misery knowing it was that royal woman's meddling that had both sent him here and stopped him from knowing how you truly felt.
Yandere knight who carved through foe upon foe with the flash of his sword while thinking of you. He would wipe blood from his face and wonder what it would take to have you. He resolves to become so renowned that he could have you and the respect he deserved all those years ago anyways.
Yandere knight who comes back as the hero of the nation. A parade is thrown for him upon his return, and flowers are thrown at his feet by the masses of people. He is awarded a noble title, a duke (impressive), a territory of land to manage, and the blessing to have the hand of any eligible lady in the land from the king.
The implication was for him to go for the princess, sitting there in a gown befitting of an engagement party. She wasn't the heir to the throne, and having a young, impressionable Duke to have and father a potential crown prince or princess was certainly a draw for her to act so sweet and lovely despite her previous attitudes. He had to use all the will in his body to hide his disdainful glare towards her. Instead, he strode up with a near giddy grin, breezed past the waiting royal, and knelt before you.
"[Name], I shall have you as my wife," He says with a beaming smile. You try to protest, but he's already sweeping you into his arms. The king seems surprised by his choice, but as he stares between Yandere Knight, lovestruck and beaming, and you, squirming and utterly shocked, he realizes that he cannot simply go back on his word. The king waves his hand, and your fate is sealed.
Yandere knight feels bad for not giving you a proper wedding. In fact, he feels bad about not taking you to your new home before he's pulling up your skirts. He's a dog, he knows, but you're just so tempting now that you're all his. He shoving you down onto the plush upholstery of the carriage seats, and you let out a startled cry.
Yandere knight who cannot claim he's chivalrous. He wishes he could, but he loves the way your breasts look pushed up so tightly in the laced bodice of yours. He lets out a groan, petting your hair and shushing you as you whimper under his wandering touch. Button after button becomes undone.
"Love, you'll never wear such stifling clothing again. You hear me? All robes and lace from now on. None of this nonsense," He murmurs into your skin. He pulled your corset and chemise from your body, and he pressed fervent kisses to the crook of your neck. He grasps at your breasts, kneading them experimentally. He's had time to experience women on the battlefield. A fling or two in some field on the outskirts of a freshly liberated village. He would think of you the whole time and imagine what he was latching his lips around the stiff peak of your nipple while a random girl cried out underneath him. But this was real. Your warmth beneath his much heavier form was on of the most beautiful feeling he had ever had the pleasure of witnessing.
He parted your legs, and he could feel you shy away from him. He laughed. As if you had a choice. He knew you would love him eventually, but for now you can't blame him for how ravenous he was as he felt between your shaking, parted legs. He smirked as his lips met yours. His fingers slid against your folds, gathering slick arousal on his digits with a curious hum. He grinds his thumb against your clit as he slowly pushes his way into your warm, spongy walls.
"Oh? Is it good there? Or here? Where, love? You gotta use your words," He teases and licks the tears rolling down your cheeks, peppering your soft skin with kisses. He feels you pulse and stretch around his hand, and he relishes the way your back arches when he curls his fingers just right against that sweet little spot. Desperate noises tumble out of you, and he smiles.
He pulls his fingers out, and you cry out at the sudden sensation. Your chest is heaving with small moans, and your pretty pussy is drooling onto the carriage cushions. He pushes your legs up to your chest for a better grip, and his shudders at the way your twitching feels against the head of his cock.
Yandere knight knows that, as he thrusts into you, he's going to enjoy the luxury of finally having you both under his body and under his control.

Imagine going on adventures with Logan and Deadpool and youâre the voice of reason behind them đ Deapool the idiot with hot headed Wolverine that reader has to keep in check all the time
Itâs not easy being the only person with common sense in this rag tag trio of yours.
^^ this is literally you babysitting two grown ass men that need to be kept on leashes and separated from one another in case they fight, again.
You are overworked and underpaid to be dealing with this shit, but there was no one else who had the patience for Wade nor the compassion and empathy for Logan as you did.
So unfortunately you were stuck with them for every mission given but despite how vastly different and incompatible some of you were -*cough* Logan and Wade *cough*- you three worked well enough together that you were a force to be reckoned with.
You were forced to face situations where wade would be pissing Logan off to the point his claws were out, and you had to pat the rugged man on his shoulder, wait for him to look at you as you pointed towards his claws;
âThem. Away. Now.â -you.
Wolverine: *grunts*
You: donât give me attitude, put. them. away. Now.
Wade: ohhh Loganâs in trouble!
You would then look at Wade before pointing at him like a disappointed parent: and you, stop pissing him off if you like to keep your dick where it is! Or so help god me Iâll cut it off myself!
Wade: đ¶
Wolverine: *smirks and puts the claws away*
You were their voice of reason, their angel on their shoulder, their peace keeper and confidant and they respect you for keeping up with their shit. However it wouldnât be much like Logan and Wade to make your life easy as you often had to stand between the two as a barrier of sorts to keep them from killing each other.
When in actuality they are flipping each other off behind your back and it wasnât until Logan slapped wades hand away, causing him to say âowâ did you look between the two of them as they acted like they werenât acting like children a few moments ago.
You: Iâm so sorry youâll have to excuse them.
*Meanwhile Wade and Logan fighting, stabbing each other in the balls in the background*
You: WOULD YOU TWO STOP FUCKING FIGHTING FOR FIVE MINUTES!!!
Wade and Logan; *immediately stop and point at each other* he started it!
They were the reason you had grey hairs at an early age you swore this to anyone whoâd listen. They were a pain in your ass, thorn in your side and a headache waiting to happen but the moment you were threatened, Wade and Logan put aside their differences and acted accordingly by standing protectively in front of you.
Logan: I would shut the fuck up if I were you bub.
Wade: oh look what you did, you made daddy angry.
Logan and you looking at Wade: đ€šđ
You: can you not make everything into a sex joke?
Wade, booping you on the nose; it comes with the territory peanut.
Logan: be serious for fucking once, theyâve just got threatened!
Wade: you donât think I want our pookie to get hurt? (why do I think heâd say pookie unironically)
You: kill me now and end my misery. Please someone, anyone. Preferably pyro. (Heâs hot, literally and figuratively)
Being stuck with Logan and wolverine is a curse and a blessing at the same time, which one you want to focus on more is up to you. However you three were incredibly loyal to each other, even if you do piss each other off from time to time, but youâd never betray one another for it wasnât an option.
You were stuck with these two whether you liked it or not.

Last time I went to the village to buy bread I saw a woman in the street who was dressed like a 19th-century peasant, complete with a thick old-timey accent with dialect words no one uses anymoreâshe was telling a little group of people to follow her so of course I had to drop everything and follow her too.
And it turned out she was a theatre actress who has read a lot of local archives in libraries and town halls, and offered her services to organise guided tours of various villages to tell people about local history in a fun way, by playing characters who lived here in the Middle Ages, the 19th century, or WWII. It's such a cool idea! I talked to her for a bit after the visit and she said she wasn't sure it'd work / attract enough people, but she had groups of tourists + local families show up for the visit every week, in every village where she did this, so she think she'll be hired again next summer.
When I joined their group she was talking about WWII, and how my & other nearby villages were known by the Nazis and Vichy as a hotbed of terrorists, with some Gestapo officers killed in bomb attacks. (In retaliation the Nazis eventually rounded up 100+ locals and deported them to camps, as well as shooting a few.) I was mostly familiar with WWII anecdotes from the North-East, where my grandparents lived during the war, and I found it funny how different they soundedâmy grandfather made Resistance activities sound well-planned and careful (espionage, sabotage, underground presses, infiltrating railway services etc) while oral histories around here make them sound a lot more spontaneous andâhandcrafted? like "Emile brought what we needed for the bomb in his wheelbarrow hidden under a layer of straw and we exploded 2 Nazis."
We then went to visit the former girls' school, and I learnt a lot about my country's history of education for girls! Also it was really sweet because there was an old lady in our group who had attended this school as a child and had lots of school memories to share. Most of them were very wholesome, until eventually our tour guide went "Surely you also have some School Mischief to tell us about" and the old woman at first was like no no no no, I was a good girl. And then she conceded that when she had to sort lentils for the nuns' dinner and she resented one of them for berating her in class, she'd do a shit job on purpose and leave some little stones in the lentils.
Then our last step was the fairground where the town fair was (and is still) held, and our tour guide told us little 19th-century anecdotes (in-character, more like acting them out) that she'd found in old postcards and letters in the archivesâhow the town fair was where you'd go for your dentist appointment (i.e. to have your bad teeth pulled with pliers with no pain medicine) and to get any object repaired, like damaged pans or clogs; how there were dancing bears and performing monkeys; how one year the merchant who sold linen for women's trousseaus had her linen display trampled "by 300 cows" (might have been an exaggeration) and she hit the cow herder and it started a massive brawl.
My favourite anecdote was how back in the 1800s the local innkeeper was frustrated by the fact that the nearest village is just 10km away, and people who came to the fair often decided to go spend the night there so their journey back the next day would be less long, and so he started to tell them about the beast that lives under the bridge between the two villages. Travellers say horses go mad when they see it and just jump into the water. Some say the beast has dug up corpses from the cemetery because it likes human flesh, though of course it prefers it fresh. I'm now convinced half of local legends were single-handedly created by business savvy innkeepers determined to get more customers than the rival inn 10km away.
I'm sad I only learnt about these visits at the end of summer when they're coming to an end, but I'll definitely follow this woman around again if she returns with more stories next year!

just practice part 2
part 1!
pairings! bsf!jj x reader
in which! you cant stop thinking about the night you lost your virginity to jjâŠ. even though you have a boyfriend
warnings! 18+ smut. cheating. fingering. oral sex (m. recieving) pnv sex. unprotected sex. not proof read.
it had been two months since you lost your virginity to jj and almost a month and a half since you started officially dating your new boyfriend.
he was nice. he took you out to eat once a week, he bought you small gifts, he complimented you and you never argued. but the sex was justâŠbad. it was always over way too quickly and he never payed any attention to your body or what you wanted. you figured he was just one of those boys who was too scared to go down on a girl, which was fine, but it probably wouldnât suit you in the long run.
you hadnât been hanging around your friends very often, usually turning them down to go out with your boyfriend and jj was getting increasingly frustrated with this.
but every time you were around your friends, jj in particular, you couldnât even look him in the eye. when you talked to him, all you thought about was the way he called you baby when he came on your stomach and the way he made you cum on his face. you felt so completely guilty for these thoughts, but nothing would stop them. you figured the best plan of action was to avoid him. not entirely, but just try not to be around him alone.
but, you did end up alone with jj by mistake one afternoon.
you had just finished surfing with kie as the swell had come in that day. you both planned to stay at the beach a little longer, but you were hungry and didnât have any food. kie decided to go pick up something from the heywardâs shop and you went back to the chateau to grab a six pack, only to find jj working on his bike, his shirt off and his shorts dirty, probably from engine oil.
you didnât say anything as you walked up the steps to the porch, but jj noticed you and called out.
âhey, y/n!â he yelled, wiping his hands off on a towel and throwing it on his bike. âthought you were gonna stay at the shore until later?â
you were in your damp bikini top and bottoms and a pair of sandals. you turned around at the sound of his voice and met his gaze.
âyeah..â you said. awkwardly. âi am, i was just grabbing some beers.â you turn back around, pulling open the screen door and stepping inside. once youâre in the kitchen with the refrigerator door cracked, you hear jj come into the chĂąteau after you.
âwhatâs going on with you?â he asks, standing in the living room. you shut the refrigerator and look over at him with furrowed brows.
âwhat do you mean?â you question, although you knew exactly what he meant. you didnât expect the confrontation to happen now of all times.
âdonât act like you donât know.â he crosses his arms over his chest. âyouâve been weird around me ever since we..â
you didnât want to hear him say it.
âjj, iâve just been hanging around my boyfriend a lot,â you try to defend yourself, hoping heâll stop questioning you. âiâm sorry i havenât been talking to you. âbeen busy.â
he nods, biting his lip and looking down at the floor.
âdo you regret it?â he asks, looking back up at you.
âwhat?â you shake your head. âno, i just-â
âyou promised you wouldnât make things weird between us and now you barely even talk to me.â jj said. âyou sure i didnât do something wrong?â
âno jj!â your voice raised slightly. âi-â you cut yourself off, not knowing what to say. âitâs just that every time i try and talk to you, i think about what we did.â you blurt out, almost making it sound like you both murdered someone and hid the body. you made it sound like a crime, and it pogue rules, it technically was. âi thought that avoiding you was gonna take my mind off it until i got over it.â
he walks closer to the kitchen, tossing his hat somewhere on the counter.
âso you do regret it?â he questions, leaning against the counter and looking straight at you.
you shake your head no.
âi donât, but itâs kind of wrong of me to think about you while my boyfriendâs fucking me.â
you realized what you said after it had already left your mouth and your eyes widened.
âwhatâd you say?â he asks, cocking his head a little at your admission, a barely visible smile playing on his lips.
âuh-â
you quickly turn around to open the fridge again, looking for some beers to take and get the hell up out of there.
âno, say it again.â jj pulls your arm, twisting you back around to face him so that your bodies were dangerously close together. your face flushed with embarrassment and your heart was thumping out of your chest.
âjj,â you say, shrugging off his touch. âi really gotta go back to the shore.â you say, but you werenât moving. jj knew that wasnât what you really wanted.
âiâm not stopping you.â he pulled back from you and leaned against the counter once again, showing that you had free will to leave, but you still didnât budge. your feet were glued in place.
you wanted to kiss him so bad and get that ridiculous smile off his lips, but the thought of your boyfriend who did little to please you was the only thing that was keeping you from doing it. you bit the inside of your cheek, nervously. the tension between you two was going to make your head explode.
âhe doesnât fuck you like i do, does he?â
his words were your final straw.
you grabbed both sides of his face and instantly connected you lips with his. he kissed you back without a second thought, wrapping his arms around your waist. he backed you into the refrigerator as his lips moved perfectly with yours.
his fingers trailed down your hips and to your clothed core. he pulled away from the kiss to look at you, silently asking for permission for him to touch you, and you gave it.
still having you against the refrigeratorâs surface, he skillfully moved your bikini bottoms to the side as two of his fingers sunk into your entrance. you were embarrassingly soaked already. you fight back a moan as he pulled out of you, just to slide right back in, hitting the spot he knew you needed.
âall this and iâve barely even touched you?â he mocked, taking his fingers out of you and bringing them to his mouth. he looked you in the eyes as he sucked your slickness from his fingers. your lips were parted as you watched, desperately needing his hands on you again.
he then picked you up, his hands hooked under your thighs. you giggled as he carried you to the bedroom, kicking the door closed.
he gently placed you on the bed and reconnected his lips with yours, his tongue swiping yours. you reached to work on his belt, swiftly undoing it and pulling it off while never breaking the kiss. you slid his shorts down, his boxers barely hiding his desperation for you.
you palm him through the fabric, eliciting a groan from him against your lips that you needed to hear more of.
you sunk to your knees in front of him, yanking his boxers down and allowing his painfully hard cock to spring free. you took him in your hand, pumping a few times before your tongue poked through your lips to lick a long stripe from the base of his shaft to the tip.
he gently grabbed your hair, trying to pull you away, but you licked him again, which loosened his grip.
âyou donât have to-â his eyes rolled back as you finally took him all in your mouth, hollowing out your cheeks as you sucked his cock. your hands were placed on his knees. the moan you heard from him encouraged you to keep going, although his tip was hitting the back of your throat and you were trying hard not to gag. âfuck- baby, you donât have to do this.â
you pull him from your mouth, a string of spit connecting your lips with his tip.
âi want to.â you say before taking him in your mouth again. he tries to keep his eyes locked with yours, but his head falls back in pleasure, his fingers lacing into your hair.
you only knew how to do this because your boyfriend showed you. you had to keep your eyes closed the whole time so you could pretend it was jj.
his breathing was getting heavier with each rise and fall of his chest as soft moans and strings of curses fell from his lips. he couldnât help but thrust his hips forward, forcing his cock farther into your mouth. there were tears brimming your eyes as you tried to focus on pleasuring him.
âfuck- mânot gonna last much longer like this.â he said.
you kept going, desperately wanting to bring him over the edge, but he pulled your hair back, taking you off of him.
âgotta stop you, princess.â he grabbed your hands and helped you up from your knees. you sat on the bed, pouting. he stood over you, brushing your hair out of your face and noticing your change of attitude. âdidnât wanna cum like that.â
as much as you wished you could make him cum by sucking him off, you couldnât complain now that he was giving you attention.
his hands guided themselves to your waist, where he then told you to turn around so you were now on your hands and knees, your ass facing him. he was still standing as he held your hips from the edge of the bed. you felt his tip at your entrance.
âthis okay?â he asked.
you give him a yes, and then you feel him slowly enter you. it felt so much different than when he had been on top of you before. there was a slight pain due to how much deeper he could push into you from this angle, but the pain melted into pleasure within seconds.
he pulled out just to drive himself back into you. his pace was slow until you adjusted to the position, and then he steadily began going faster. his fingers dug into the sides of your ass, pulling you into him with every thrust.
as he went harder, you gripped the sheets and stuffed your face into the mattress under you, trying to keep yourself quiet, but you couldnât stop the moans that escaped your lips.
âfuck-â jj cursed under his breath, his grip on you getting even harder. âfeel so good, canât get enough of this pussyâ
his words brought you closer and his pace increased. you could feel him getting tenser, his thrusts getting sloppier.
âcould have you like this every day if i could- shit.â
you were almost over the edge, the knot in your stomach threatening to undo.
âfuck- mâgonna cum princessâ he moaned.
his last thrusts were deep and slow and they led you into perfect ecstasy. you came undone around his cock, moaning into the sheets right in time for him to pull out and finish on your back- your name leaving his mouth with curses and moans.
your body was limp when he cleaned your back with a towel, still in a haze from your orgasm.
âyou okay?â he asked, running a hand down the middle of your back, feeling the ridges of your spine.
you nodded and sat up, grabbing your bikini from the floor and slipping it back on.
âkie is gonna kill me.â you say, slipping your sandals on your feet. âsheâs not gonna believe any excuse i try to give her.â
âiâll drive you down there.â jj offered. âi mean- are your legs alright to walk all the way to the shore or-â
you threw his shirt at his face and scoffed at him.
you had agreed to let him drive you to the beach while you fixed your hair in the visor mirror, trying to make yourself look presentable. although the whole way there you could only think about the words he said while he fucked you. you had no idea if he meant it or if it was just a thing he said in the moment. and this definitely wasnât going to help save your thoughts about your boyfriend.
a/n: donât know if i will write a part 3 to this, but requests are open for any jj or rafe fic!
