“Seriously old man?” the rumbling voice nearly caused Tim to jump, his eyes darting away from where Ras was sitting, the Al Ghul almost seeming to perk. It was kind of hard to miss the man… teen… being? It was kind of hard to miss the owner of the voice what with how their hair looked like it was on fire. 

They motioned around at well, everything, crimson eyes looking exasperated. “Really?” They were definitely motioning towards him, interrupting Ras when he opened his mouth to talk. “No, I don’t want to hear it, I swear- Did he kidnap you?” That was definitely aimed at him. 

“N-no?” Tim was feeling slightly unbalanced and may be on hour sixty without sleep at this point, if the hour long nap was counted. “I need help finding my not-dad who's lost in time.” 

The being let out a strangled noise that Tim could nearly swear was almost another one, but couldn’t vocalize his slurred thoughts as the dude muttered something, motioning around as though he was tempted to strangle something or someone. 

Ras cleared his throat, looking almost awkward which was how Tim knew he had to be dreaming or drugged. Probably drugged. “Jordan, how good to see you, it’s been so long-”

“Can it Pops,” the being-named-Jordan scoffed, finger pointing towards the Demon’s Head. “Moms still pissed and isn’t coming back any time soon with you still pulling this shit.” 

Tim felt his brain stall, process for a moment, then process some more over what he just heard before his mouth ran before it could catch up. “Ras is married???”

Ballroom dancing isn’t actually particularly queer coded in fact it plays more into tradition and has very clearly defined gendered roles associated with it - male leader - female - follower.

And that’s what’s interesting about it being the activity Eddie was signed up for by Helena, especially in relation to Eddie’s incoming queer arc. Eddie was forced to grow up too fast and to step into the role of ‘man of the house’ by Helena because Ramon was by all accounts an absent father - hero complex provides us with plenty of canon information about Eddie being pushed into a husband/father role at a very young age and being told to man up and not to cry etc - machismo in action.

Helena sending him to ballroom dancing classes is likely because it was a way of reinforcing those traditional gendered stereotypes held by wider society and particularly in Latinx culture that the Diaz’s are entrenched in.

It becomes an especially interesting choice if it’s something Helena did because as well as it reinforcing gender stereotypes, she could see that her son was queer and wanted a way of trying to push him towards girls/women - encouraging him into straightness by surrounding him with girls as generally classes are female dominated and away from activities that would have him surrounded by boys/men.

It’s not about ballroom dancing being queer it’s about trying to prevent him from being queer through the structure of ballroom dancing.

and anakin doesn't realize this until obi-wan gets back from a mission, does his debrief with the council, and comes to anakin's quarters with the strangest look on his face. "padawan, why did six members of the Jedi Council just wish me congratulations on my nuptials? to. my. former. padawan."

and anakin is gobsmacked and goes about trying to set the record straight, but now no one believes that he isn't married to obi-wan. they think padmé has agreed to be the cover-up because obi-wan got pissy that anakin told the council before he felt ready.

and to top it all off, now anakin can't stop thinking about actually being married to his master. he hadn't realized that was an option?? but everyone's making some pretty strong cases for it......

She has a very small mouth, round cheeks and forehead- giving a general look of happiness good-humor.

This is such a cute short story! The bat following Batman around, copying him, and being a detective with him! Bruce caring about stopping animal abuse and trafficking! Bruce saying that the bats of Gotham aren't his pets, they are their family! And he knows each one of them! I didn't know I needed Bruce gently holding a bat and calling it "my hero" until now, it's fucking adorable!

And the whole thing is a metaphor about the Batfam! About how they cannot be kept in captivity, how their falily is important and they need it, but each of them comes and goes as they wish and they respect it, and each have their own story to tell.

Having now read the Heavenly Mausoleum scene I’m fully convinced that Shen Qingqiu could have speed ran the plot and saved himself a lot of pain, anxiety, and possibly his death if he had just taken a page out of Airplane’s book and burst into fucking tears the second he saw Binghe again.

Like I think men should cry more like in general but he really could have skipped like a book and a half worth of stress if he just fucking bawled, you know?

I think something we don't take into account when thinking about Katniss (that people who solely take into consideration the film may not like...)

Katniss doesn't seperate (romantic) love from being married and having kids. Like at all. When she considers romantic feelings, marriage and children are what she puts into the basket to weigh. Being in love means to be married to her, to have children. Thats why she rejects them, and why they scare her. She can't be in love without linking her life to that person, without the idea of marrying them or children. That is always part of it, for Katniss.

She never considers maybe casually dating Peeta OR Gale. If she explores these relationships romantically, to her that almost certeinly means she will be eventually marrying them. Having kids. And it's not like she doesn't know it's possible. She says herself she's heard other girls talking about relationships, ones of high schools. Most of these likely without even the mention of marriage, and certeinly not children. No it's just that she's linked them in her head because thats what it is to her as a person. That's what she chooses for it to mean to her.

But oh yes. This is the girlboss, the rebel leader who don't need no man (heavy eye roll implied there).

I think the interesting question is if there is a cause to think, what is it aside from Katniss just valueing that kind of steps in romantic relationships? Part of me thinks it is simply an extention of Katniss, while not always the most confident or sure at 16-17 years old does not do what she DOES choose half way. Once she is in, she is ALL in with everything she does and to me, that could contributes to this connection for her.

On top of, while it does unravel with the death of her father she grew up with what we see even through small glimpes is a extreamly happy and loving version of this kind of family and end goal for romantic relationships. What a loving marriage looks like, what loving parents and loved children look like.

And I would like to add because I see this painfully often. No. This is not sending some anti-feminist message...say it with me: Because Katniss CHOOSES this, and it directly is canonically shown to make her happy. There are also several other female characters with diverse goals and positions. Including leadership. Just, so we are all clear.

there's a particular incident where she saves his life through the power of spirit healing and. maybe the guiding hand of Something that seems to still reside in the petals of the rose he gave her that she's worn in a little glass vial around her neck and that have not withered all these long years, and it inspires actual myths and romantic literary traditions and folk ballads and all sorts of nonsense that outlast them both. neither of them care tho they're just. hugging right now. drenched in darkspawn blood like the old days. resting their foreheads together. taking every moment they may have left just to be together. whatever you do don't go without me. wherever you go let me go too. and with you let me be buried, and where you go after that let me go with you then as well. (of course. of course. after all of this, where would I ever go without you. the one good thing about the blight is that it brings people together. the one good thing is that it brought me to you.)
