#Octopath Traveler Cyrus

There are some differences between the representative character of one class in Octopath Traveler and their counterpart in Octopath Traveler II, but I find no comparisom as hysterical as the one between the two scholar-characters, Cyrus and Osvald.

Cyrus: I never did anything wrong in life. I'm just happy and curious and a little bit of a dumb ass, I have a rogue action because I'm accidentally annoying. I'm along for the ride, learning new stuff and searching for this book, yaay :D

For this picture, I tried to replicate how I used to draw Therion and Cyrus in traditional art (where my OCD was not as bad) but I didn’t manage to stay OCD-free, lol ^ ^; Hopefully this picture looks OK enough, though! Sorry there’s no color now, but I might color it in the future! (not confirmed, though!)

unpopular opinion: i hate cyrus from octopath traveler. he is just so unlikeable. the entire story seems to try and convince us that he is perfect, he is oh so smart and oh so cool and oh so good looking. they try to make him relatable by having him be oblivious to the fact that every woman in the world loves him. so even his one weakness just highlights that he is oh so perfect. i was constantly rolling my eyes when i had to play part of cyrus‘ story.

Been replaying Octopath recently and I just... man... my two favourite characters from both of the games.......... UUAUHGHHHHGG

Based off of a thing I said a little earlier, I think they’d get along if they met!

I'm replaying the first Octopath Traveler right now so I won't die of excitement for the sequel and now, a couple of years after the first play through, I love how slice of life the characters are.

Of course, some of the stories escalate to a big conspiracy and with the secret Galdera-end boss it has world-changing consequences. But it slowly develops in that direction for most of the protagonists - the only exception being Olberic, who was a legend even before the begin of his story, and you could make an argument for Primrose as the daughter of one of the most important people in the Flatlands.

But most of the protagonists are just ordinary people. Alfyn and Tressa are just two ordinary people who are really good in their craft and decide to travel through the realm to learn and help people. Therion isn't some famous thief, he's just a guy in the end who is good enough to get himself into his mess. Cyrus is just one scholar of many who decided to use his time kicked out of Atlasdam to search for a lost book. And Ophelia and H'aanit both didn't plan to go on their journey, but did anyway for their family and the people they loved.

At the beginning, they aren't something special, really. It could have been anyone else in their stead.

And I just really like, that in a fantasy setting, which invites the writer to put in legendary heroes as the protagonists, they decided against it. Its only over time that their stories shape them into the heroes Osterra needs. And that's pretty cool.
