The Last Hoorah!

Thursday 15th December 2022 – Southampton

Last night’s dinner menu included Rib-eye steak, so having had fish every night so far, I rang the changes and had that.

An amuse-bouche of shrimps (or a vegetarian option) and Corn Chowder preceded my steak which, though it was tasty enough, I have had better. The Saffron Poached Pear with Praline Sauce was a refreshing dessert with which to finish.

Today we returned to the Mayflower Cruise Terminal in an extremely cold Southampton, so for my departure breakfast it was Shredded Wheat and hot milk followed by Devilled Kidneys.

Once a staple of the old British breakfast, Cunard is the only line these days that I have found included it in their menu.

Following our priority disembarkation at 8am, we returned home to be greeted by the remains of last week’s heavy snowfall and a reminder that it will soon be Christmas!

The next cruise will be in late January 2023, when we depart for New Zealand and Australia!
