#Obsession 'verse

Obsession’verse: how would Stephen react to Tony being possessive over him for once? Maybe standing up for him. Like would his brain stop working for a moment there?

Tony is not physically present here, but I think he sufficiently demonstrates his possessiveness. 😀 (Er, if I’ve misinterpreted, feel free to prompt again!)

Obligatory reminder that this relationship dynamic would be super unhealthy IRL.

They find it on Stephen’s return from a cross-dimensional visit. Although everything had gone as planned, a magical scan to ensure the traveler didn’t bring any infections, contaminants, or other magical hitchhikers back is routine. 

The spell turns up no magical additions, but it does find a technological one. 

“It’s a tracking device,” Wong says after a few more investigative spells. He frowns. “And it is broadcasting your location actively. This is not good, Stephen. As bad as it is that someone wishes to follow you so closely, it is worse that a loss of signal would indicate when you are absent from this dimension.”

Stephen casts his mind back over the recent weeks, searching for a moment when the tracker could have been implanted.

A visit to Tony’s lab. A tiny shock of pain that he’d dismissed as a pinched nerve. A satisfied smile.

Tony is tracking him. Every moment of every day, Tony will know where he is.

A smile slowly stretches Stephen’s lips. He reaches up, gently turning the glowing representation of the implant. “There’s no need for concern, Wong,” he says. “It’s only Tony keeping an eye on me.”

Wong pauses. “He asked your permission?”

“No,” Stephen says serenely. He waves a hand and the image of the tracker dissolves. “But then, neither did I.” With another wave, Stephen calls up a globe. A pinpoint of red light glows in New York. 

“Stephen,” Wong says. He stops, then goes on carefully, “This spell is blood magic.”

“Of course. I could hardly maintain it actively and indefinitely if it wasn’t.” Stephen shoots Wong a look. “It’s not damaging. I wouldn’t do that to Tony.”

Wong scowls, but Stephen only dismisses the map with a gesture, smiling to himself.

Tony is home. Perhaps a visit is in order.

Eddie, who becomes so in tune with Steve it’s actually crazy. Steve lovingly dubbed it as his “Stevie-Senses,” which Eddie loves and robin hates. Robin calls him a glorified service dog.

Steve’s blood sugar is low? Eddie brings over a juice box or a blue airhead.

Steve’s blood sugar is skyrocketing? Eddie nudges him and asks is he needs a correction.

Eddie even has the app on his phone that is connected to Steve’s pod so he can see where Steve’s levels are at even when they’re apart.

Eddie keeps the packet that Steve made for him on his person at all times, even though he doesn’t need it anymore. He keeps the needles, strips, alcohol wipes, and the monitor in a little pouch.

When Eddie is performing, he makes sure that there are a shit ton of snacks for him, as well as water and a place for him to relax if he needs to.

Steve has never felt so loved and so seen before, which helps solidify Robin’s endearment and approval for the couple.

I've been totally fixated on the fact that gwen stays with hobie when she's not on spider-team missions so here's some fun notes

gwen says that hobie lets her crash in his universe- not "house" or "place" or "apartment", because hobie is homeless

she wears his chucks (how is she fitting into his shoes?) which is funny because hobie's original spider-punk costume included him wearing chucks, but in the movie he only wears boots

in the comics, the gwen stacy of earth-138 was, in hobie's words, "the greatest artist of [their] generation" who died a punk-rock legend, and hobie was/is a big fan of hers. gwen thinks his universe is cool and thinks it's extra cool that she's famous there, so his universe is probably something of a comfort place for her

gwen is apparently in his band (possibly his friend group which he calls the spider-band despite the fact that they're not actually a band and the others are not spideys), though gwen once rejected hobie's proposal of making an album together because his singing voice is awful (still, this was after they saved the world by playing punk rock together)

also, it's interesting to read "coming out as a superhero" as a queer allegory and it works in this situation as it parallels queer kids being kicked out of their homophobic homes and staying with friends in the aftermath

Thinking about how the first time I watched ATSV I was shocked when I saw Gwen sneak away from Miles to plant the spying device to watch Spot, like “*gasp* she has ulterior motives!” And then after my second and third watch I was like, uh yeah her ulterior motive was to be with Miles. She only got sent to his dimension for her mission and she immediately takes the chance to teleport herself into Miles' bedroom. She has so much fun hanging out with him that doing the task she was assigned seems like an afterthought to her.

Unprompted Obsession ‘verse

I have two prompts in my inbox, but I am too tired to write today, so instead have this Obsession 'verse ficlet that I wrote over the past couple of days. :D

This follows pretty closely on the last ficlet (the one with Rhodey).

Pepper is alone in her office when a portal opens and Doctor Strange steps through.

His expression is neutral, perhaps even slightly pleasant, but despite that Pepper can’t help wondering if this is the fallout from James’ evening with Tony two days ago. Her heart rate picks up, but she puts on her best board meeting smile and turns away from her computer. “Doctor Strange. Has my assistant missed an appointment? You aren’t on my calendar.”

“I checked your calendar, you’re not busy,” he says, seating himself across the desk from her. His Cloak twitches out of the way to allow him to sit smoothly without his hands ever approaching it. 

Pepper’s smile never falters. “I’m not Tony,” she says. “I don’t find the invasion of privacy charming, and I’d prefer it if you didn’t portal into my space without asking.”

Strange is silent for a moment. “Of course,” he says eventually. “My apologies. Would you prefer I return later? With an appointment, of course.”

“No, I’ll make an exception today, since we hadn’t established boundaries yet,” Pepper says. Her heart is still racing. “But I expect them to be respected in the future. What can I do for you?”

“Actually, I’m here to reassure you,” Strange says seriously. 

“Me?” Pepper can’t help the small laugh that escapes her. “About what?”

“That I have no intention of interfering in your friendship with Tony. Or that of James’ Rhodes.”

Pepper’s professional smile cools a little. “And what makes you think I need reassurance on that front?”

“The other night, Colonel Rhodes told Tony he was worried I wouldn’t want Tony to see him,” Strange explains. “It seems likely that you share that worry, and while Tony has somewhat allayed Colonel Rhodes’ concern, I thought that you might prefer to hear it from the horses’ mouth. So to speak.”

He’s not wrong, but he’s also making Pepper wonder if Tony told him about that conversation or if he just listened in. Pepper considers Strange for a long moment. “I need more than that,” she says. “Tony is too important to me and you’re too much of an unknown quantity to just take your word for it.”

Strange nods like he expected that. “May I take it as a given that you accept that my devotion to Tony is genuine?” When Pepper hesitates, Strange’s mouth takes on a wry tilt. “Whether or not you consider it healthy.” Pepper waves for him to go on. Strange spreads his hands. “Let me put it this way: Tony’s friendships with you and Colonel Rhodes are fundamental to who he is as a person. I am very fond of who Tony is as a person, and therefore I am very protective of his friendships with you.”

Pepper studies Strange for a long moment. He meets her gaze steadily. Pepper’s always been a good judge of people, and she has to admit he seems sincere. That said, his explanation raises a whole host of other concerns. What would he do if he felt Tony’s fundamental friendships were being threatened? What would constitute a threat? What about relationships that he doesn’t consider fundamental? What about other things that could affect who Tony is as a person?

Unfortunately, those things are too broad or too speculative to address to any helpful degree. Pepper chooses the one that has kept her up a few nights instead: “You don’t find his past relationship with me threatening?”

Strange chuckles and folds his hands together. “Quite the contrary. The nature of your romance with Tony and the manner of its dissolution contributed significantly to his interest in my style of relationship.” 

Pepper can’t help but wonder, uneasily, if she should feel guilty about that. She knows that she’s not responsible for Tony, that he’s a grown man capable of making his own choices, but she’s also spent a long time taking care of him, professional and personally, and the idea that she left him vulnerable to Strange’s obsession… “And what happens,” she asks aloud, “if Tony decides that he’s not interested in your style of relationship anymore?”

“I don’t think that’s likely.” There’s something oddly certain about the way Strange says that. The feeling is only heightened by the way he smiles. “And he’ll have you and Colonel Rhodes regardless, won’t he?” Strange pushes back his chair and stands.

“Of course,” Pepper says, automatically rising to her feet as well. She needs to follow up with some type of parting comment, but nothing seems appropriate. Strange’s professed purpose aside, she isn’t feeling particularly reassured. This wasn’t their first meeting, and even if it had been, it wasn’t exactly nice. Ultimately, Pepper settles for a generic, “Thank you for coming by.”

“I’ll be sure to make an appointment next time,” Strange says.

Pepper doesn’t feel at all as if she won anything there.

From the set of Strange’s shoulders and the look in his eye as he steps through another portal, he knows it.

thinking about how one of hayward's first lines of the show is "everyone wants a personal relationship with a god, but none of us are equipped to actually deal with that." how he only ever prayed out of routine, how he never devoted himself properly to any god, and even the cloak was just a bad attempt and making himself feel less alone. how he wished that he could have a real partner with him on his cases but all he has is a god. how he couldn't even try to make himself believe that worshipping a god would save him. and then how he found his purpose serving alongside and loving a woman who bore a godchild beneath her skin. how he birthed a god with this woman and he threw his whole self into The Cause. but it was never about the god it was always about the cause and about the person he loves. and he said that if he had to put his faith in anyone he would put it in paige. and then he died refusing to offer a prayer to a god and whispering to the gods that he was going to die on his own terms. he would never bend the knee for a god, but he would call it a gift to sacrifice his life for just a chance that paige will be safe. thinking about how he died and the only faith he ever had was in the woman he loved

Ladies and Gentlemen, Bitches and Bastards, Witches and Wizards, Mothers and Fuckers. Esteemed robot enjoyers, I present to you a semi-accurate height comparison of Bumblebee across the multiverse (as of July 2024). This really helps visualize the truly staggering differences between universes, at least height-wise. Also, three of these characters are Canonically the Same Guy; guess which ones.

I spent way too much time on the chart in the back it's not even funny. I will probably make more height charts for more TF characters and universes in the future. Don't expect it soon though, because when I make these, I am fueled by pure I-Got-Bored-At-Work-And-I-Have-Decided-To-Fool-Around-With-Robot-PNGs, and that fuel supply is inconsistent at best.

Hey Fun Fact, Did you know that Generation 1 Optimus Prime is around 19 Feet Tall? Bet some of you already knew that. I have no ulterior motives for bringing this fact up, what are you talking about.

My height explanations are below the cut, because you couldn't shut me up if you tried.

In an order:

Gen 1 - ~10 feet (the wiki says greater than 3 meters so I rounded up to the first whole number because round)

Netflix Cybertron Trilogy - ~10 feet (He looks identical to Gen 1 so... the reason his photo looks weird is because I couldn't find a good full body photo with him standing straight up facing the camera so I put two images together to make the worst looking photoshop job you have ever seen)

Earth Spark - 10 feet (There is no confirmed height yet but using a screen shot of him standing in front of a barn door I was able to make a reasonable guess.)

Animated - 12 feet (I have no genuine source for this, I think this info is just someone's guesstimate, but it seems reasonable. He's a tiny two door mini car, how big could he be)

New Live Action - 15 feet (The wiki hath declared. Also do we have a name for this universe because we need one I don't want to keep saying like 6 words to differentiate this one from bayverse)

Bayverse V1 - 16 feet (This is like the first 3 movies minimum, I don't remember when he hits his growth spurt. also wiki my love)

Cyberverse - 18 feet (I'm gonna be honest, the only info we have is from a really shitty screen shot of a magazine. SO if any one has a copy of this book from the video below, a high quality scan would be greatly appreciated and I will kiss the ground you walk upon. Yes I found the video where the screen shot comes from leave me alone)

Bayverse V2 - 18 feet (movie 4-5 I can't remember which one, I'm not re-looking this up. I fucking love the bayverse tho, this is the only universe with concrete and consistent this-character-is-this-height info)

Aligned Cont. WF/FOC - 20 feet (video game info screens you god send, kiss me sweetly)

Aligned Cont. TFP/RID15 - 21 feet (I do not know exactly where these numbers were found, but I fully fucking believe them. Just by looking at these characters on the show I can verify these numbers in my mind. They made specifically this universe to be full of freakishly tall robots for some fucking reason.)

And for any one who doesn't know, the three tallest are the same guy. Like the 20 feet tall one and the 21 feet tall ones, same guy. The ones in three wildly different art styles and designs. Let that sink in...

I fucking hate the aligned continuity why is that one my favorite.
