I would like a fanfiction that combines the original premise of Oz with Dorothy being a young child (8-12 since it's her book ages and her movie age) and instead of 1900 it's like in the original book it's 1939 and Wicked. Dorothy is worried for aunty Em and Uncle Henri because not only is it the Great Depression and part of the farmhouse is here with her but she's worried because they're have been talks of a potential war (the movie came out in August 25th and the war started in September 1st) but she's worried that her Uncle Henri might be drafted and her aunt might go with them cause what if they think she's dead)
While walking down the Yellow Brick Road Scarecrow asks why Dorothy keeps saying they need to ration they're things? Asks why she's so worried about food? Why is she so insistent on not buying a new dress? You've already re sewn and cleaned those same clothes for the past month. Boq is made of metal and has no clothes, the lion is a lion and therefore does not need clothes, and I'm a scarecrow I can't take my clothes off.
Down the road he begins to realise that this child isn't as okay and innocent as she seems with all of her skipping and dancing with the way she looks out the corner of her eye behind her pigtails or re checks her basket Incase they dropped anything.
Imagine because of all the interruptions, being attacked, the road itself, and then the wizard being a fraud she takes longer to get home. Perhaps instead of two-three months in Oz she's there for two-three years. The shoes don't work and Dorothy believes she's just killed two women even though it wasn't her fault at the time(Elphaba is alive but she's still in hiding with Fiyero) and got kidnapped and locked in a basement and almost burnt alive. She thinks that now she's never going to make it home. But you have fresh food and clothes here do you really want to go back. She can't help but think to herself before snapping out of it reminding herself of Aunty Em and Uncle Henri.
Or if Dorothy does make it home her Aunt and Uncle somehow end up sending her back because not only has World War ii begun but now that America is a part of it and Kansas was essentially a training ground for USAAF bombers and fliers so when she's back in Oz she looks for Fiyero or Galinda and Explains what happened.
Fiyero didn't know a potential war was on the horizon in Dorothy's home world. If he had known would he have sent her back or would he have kept her in Oz even if it was against her will. He takes her to Elphaba and explains what happened and they managed to reach out to Glinda and help give her a proper education, she gets taller thanks to a proper diet, she's at least somewhat healthy thanks to available medicine and hygiene products in Oz. She's lived longer than she thought she would have in Kansas and a lot longer than she thought she would have here in Oz. A LOT longer.
Also potential Dorzma and realising that Oscar Diggs is a name of a guy that went missing a few decades ago that her parents and guardians talked about with their families because this guy with a hot air balloon disappeared in a storm and no trace of him can be found. Obvious propaganda against a coloured women and a selective group of people because I believe Aunty Em not Uncle Henri would've raised her that way. She still wants to meet the wizard in hopes of going home but she's still suspicious because of how she was raised in this au.

Chapter 1
Pairings: oz cobb x reader (Carmine Falcone's daughter)
<chapter2> <chapter3> <chapter 4> <chapter 5: part 1>
Reader is the daughter of Carmine Falcone, she is young (19) when the beginning of the story happen, but nothing sexual between her and Oz at this age. She will grow and evolve as the story progresses, I wanted to explore the relationships between her and everyone else in the story in this chapter (besides Alberto). I was worried i made it too long now im worried its too short haha, next chapter are gonna be longer. Oz is still manipulative and scheming.
Story inspired by Driving Miss Falcone by (https://archiveofourown.org/users/genevievedarcygranger/pseuds/genevievedarcygranger)<- super good steamy story
It's a slow burn because THATS HOW I LIKE IT, yes there will be smut.
Enjoy, give feedback if u want xoxo
Warnings: mature language, smut (not in this chapter sorry), general teenage horniness.
Being the daughter of Carmine Falcone was, as many might say, easy. You went shopping every single day, you ate at the most expensive restaurants (and if you didn’t, you had chefs that would prepare everything your heart desired), you slept in the finest sheets. Compared to most young adults your age, you were born “full,” never having to worry about anything or anyone disturbing your peace or threatening your well-being.
Still, you were well aware of the things going on around you, even if your father or anyone else in the family, for that matter, usually just glossed over you. All of them opted to compliment how beautiful you were or how stylish your clothes were—blah, blah, blah. You understood that your father ran an organized crime syndicate, that he was respected, and that the clothes on your back and the food in your belly came from one thing only: blood money. But everyone seemed to be okay with it; I mean, who wouldn’t be, right?
You never saw anything weird or a crime being committed. Everyone—and I mean everyone—was well-mannered, spoke in a nice fashion, and you never had to ask for anything; everything was handed to you on a silver platter. You had a driver, for God's sake—someone at your beck and call who could drive you around wherever you wanted, whenever you wanted.
You didn’t have many friends. Those people you talked and socialized with? You couldn’t call them “friends.” They were all just bootlickers who thrived off having Carmine Falcone’s daughter near them; at least that’s what Alberto told you.
If you had to choose, you wouldn’t even go to those fancy-ass events that Sofia dragged you to every single time. She said that you two were women and that you were responsible for “keeping up appearances” and all that. To give her credit, she really made you guys quite the big deal. Ever since she took over her late mother’s organization, you’d grace the cover almost weekly, either because of something she did or some controversy a journalist would make up.
If you had to choose someone to spend time with, it was Oz. Sure, he was your driver, but he was the only person worth hanging around.
To start, he was funny. He always made you laugh, telling you the best stories from his childhood—either about his idol, Rex, or the sort of things he and his brothers got up to. It was a joy to be around him, at least for you. You always defended him when your uncle or your brother would make fun of his gait. Who the hell were they to talk? You never said that, though, because that was disrespectful, and you weren’t allowed to curse—well, you weren’t allowed to curse around family. Oz never minded; you were sure of that.
One year, when it was your birthday, Oz gave you the most gorgeous necklace. He knew exactly what sort of metal you adored, and in the middle was this very dainty diamond. Sure, it couldn’t have cost him a fortune, but it was the symbol that counted. The scandal that followed in the house afterwards was something to remember. You remembered telling one of the older girls there about the gift. That girl told Alberto, who then told your father. They didn’t know who it was from, but they knew it was a member of staff, and your father gave you an hour-long lecture about boundaries and how you shouldn’t have accepted the gift, ever. Sure enough, after two months, he forgot all about it; he had more important business to attend to. Oz apologized afterwards, when it was just the two of you, but you told him it was nonsense.
Your sister rudely interrupted your daydream when you arrived at, you guessed it, another press-infused dinner.
“Hey, you got your head in the clouds again, missy? We’re here.”
“Oh yes, I couldn’t figure it out by the cameras that are all pointing at us from outside, Sherlock. Thank you.” You knew your sister didn’t mind the bratty remark now and then; you were close—well, close enough. She was the first-born daughter, the second in command, really (Alberto was more like the “okay to the world choice” because he had a penis). You were the princess of the household; all you had to do was bat your pretty eyelashes and shine your big eyes, and all was forgiven, as long as you didn’t meddle in “grown-up business.” You were also a grown-up, but whatever. Oz had already made his way out of the car and toward the door.
“Remember, smile, be nice and courteous, and don’t talk to the press. Let’s go.”
As you exited the expensive vehicle, you thanked and smiled at Oz, who, in turn, smiled back. He went to the front, pushing anyone who got too close to you out of the way as everyone shouted things regarding your father or the organization. Your sister grabbed your hand and led you inside; your dad always told you to pay them no mind, so you never really listened to what crap they were yelling anyway.
As your sister was introduced as “the chairwoman of the Isabella Falcone organization” and stepped up to the stage, you felt a sense of pride looking at her. She looked very beautiful in her red dress, obviously picked by you. You knew she usually got quite uncomfortable during those public speaking moments, so you made sure to look her straight in the eyes, straighten your back (which made her straighten hers out), and smile at her. It was your way of telling her that she was a Falcone; she better make everyone in the room remember that. No stuttering on the stage or hesitation.
These dinners or lunches or whatever—they felt like they took an eternity, with the exact same thing being said at every single one: “We need to protect women; the Isabella Falcone organization made this and that. This is very important for women all around Gotham.” While yes, you were sure they helped some people—like the rich ladies who were all here—you were sure they all felt much better about their privilege after attending these sorts of things. When you passed around the East End, you noticed the women on the street: the ones with two kids following them, or the pregnant women who went to work to support their families and give their kids something to eat, the ones wearing high heels and patrolling the corners of Gotham. You often wondered if they benefited from the “help” your sister and the other gals here offered.
Well, at least the food was nice. Every once in a while, you would see Oz walking into your field of vision, and you made sure to get him a plate of the sweets he liked. Even if he rejected the plate most often, he never said no to you. Of course, no one did.
After your smart sister was done talking, everyone applauded. You were the first to get up, and everyone else followed suit.
Immediately after, you went to Oz, with the plate, of course. He rejected it, but you said you weren’t going to repeat yourself, and he took it. That was a sort of ritual you guys had. After Sofia dodged one pretty woman after another, she came over to you two, and Oz started to say thank you to everyone coming closer—a sort of “shut the hell up, go home.”
“This is the third luncheon this week. A lobotomy couldn’t take the edge off,” she said. You had no funny remark to that; you knew when to press buttons and when to keep quiet. After she was anxious, it was no time for funny remarks; let’s leave.
“Even when you’re helping people, you still gotta eat shit,” Oz said, trying to be funny. He should’ve said that to you, not her. They were both walking ahead of you now, completely ignoring your presence. Of course, he showered her with his attention, just like everyone else.
“Better than some jobs, though.” He handed your sister a cigarette—a very bad habit you hated. You always told her she looked like a man. Ugh.
“Like what—” she glanced over at you and shook her head in your direction. “—driving this princess around?” She had that all-knowing smirk on her lips; this was her payback for your smart mouth when arriving here.
Oz’s smile fell. “Oh, that’s not— you know what I mean.” Serves him right for kissing her ass.
“She’s messing with you,” you interrupted. “We know it’s a shitty job.” He better not think it is.
“You deserve better; I mean, we both do, but you have a dick, so at least you're eligible for a promotion.” He laughed at that. Your heart skipped a bit at the sound of his laughter. The few times you made him laugh were rare, and here she was, after not being around him for months, making him laugh. Why did she have to steal the show every time? He was yours; she had her own people to make laugh.
“I’ll get the car; you did good,” he said as he left.
“Thank you,” Sofia responded. After turning around, she let out a little laugh. “Wow, what’s gotten into you?” Okay, maybe you didn’t have the most pleasant expression on; maybe you were sulking a little. Maybe.
“This is the last time I give you a ride.” Now she really started laughing.
“Are you jealous? Well, your secret is safe with me, don’t worry.” She said this while still chuckling to herself. “I like men my age, who walk normally.” She whispered the last part as if it were some great shameful thing. “I see the way he looks at you; everyone does.” She winked.
What? Oz was your driver and your father's employee. Maybe sometimes you liked to pretend he was some rich older man, powerful like your dad—someone people respected when you walked together in any luxury store or when you ate together at any fancy restaurant in which he wasn’t supposed to eat, like, at all, when he was with you. But you weren’t going to walk in there and eat all by yourself, were you? That’s why you always had him by your side, and you didn’t call any of your “friends” to go with you.
You put your head down at that comment, cheeks red with embarrassment, and practically sprinted to the open door Oswald had waiting for you. You knew he was staring at you, expecting a smile and a “thank you.” You didn’t say anything.
You heard someone call after your sister, but you didn’t care; you just wanted to get home—like, now.
The road home was quiet, allowing you to think about what your sister said. Did you have a crush on Oz? You wanted to make him smile and laugh. Sometimes your eyes would linger on his big hands on the steering wheel, how he was an expert driver, how his hands would move as if caressing something—like a leg, maybe your leg. Maybe he would take his hands further up.
Okay, that’s enough. You could feel the tips of your ears flashing red and that familiar ache in your belly. Those thoughts were for later. With excitement coursing through your body, you swallowed a smile.
That night, at the family dinner, you let Sofia speak about the organization and how today was for her. Your eyes traveled up the walls to the big painting staring at you; they looked beautiful—the family, with Alberto’s and Sofia’s mom and Carmine. They really did. Carmine was engaged to your mom after Isabella’s death, but she passed away before they could marry, and you were only a few months old. Questions about the woman who gave birth to you were quickly dismissed and, to add insult to injury, redirected towards those living. You knew she was gorgeous, smart, and witty—that made you smile, just like you were.
After eating a bit of food, you asked to be excused, and your father swiftly granted it. He loved the fact that you didn’t linger for too long or ask any important questions.
The next day, you and Oz went to a jewelry store; after that, you bought some dresses. This time, however, he stayed in the car. You knew he was wondering if he had screwed up with something. I mean, yesterday he had two Falcones to deal with. You bought this gorgeous red satin dress; it was simple but elegant.
It embraced your curves so nicely, and even if you weren’t going to be allowed to wear it, the slit on the side might make your dad as red as the dress with fury. You still liked to envision it. Oh well.
The ride home was unusually quiet. Almost always it was filled with Oz’s voice or your laughter; now, only the occasional sound of the blinker was heard.
“I’m sorry if I did or said something to upset you, Miss Falcone. It wasn’t my intention.” That rough voice of his interrupted—usually, he called you by your name, but now it was replaced with the courteous nature of a regular staff member.
The truth is, you and Oz weren’t ever going to be together. It sounds crazy even thinking about it. This was a juvenile crush based on familiarity. He was just a driver; this was probably the highest-ranking position he would ever have. Now you could either be the laughing stock of the family, or you could get over it.
“No, I’m sorry. I’m just not feeling well, that’s all, Oswald. Nothing you can do about it.” You refused to meet his eyes, and you knew he wanted to say something like “hey, look at me,” like he usually did when you were upset. The mention of his full name stopped him.
“I wanted to tell you that tomorrow night I will be unavailable from 4 PM to 7 PM; your sister has requested me.”

Some more OC lore dump. Already mentioned in couple of posts before that OC is a descendant of an immortal that served the Celestial Court and used an artifact to escape to "our" world thousands year ago.
Her name is 飒馡 sà fēi. She is part of a clan that is known for their bloodbending abilities. They can turn their own blood into weapons to uses. Their blood can also be corrosive, to the point it can melt through locks and metals if the users wills it. They are also able to control other people's blood (same way like in the last airbender), use their blood to shape it into weapon.
They also cry stardust tears, which has incredible healing attributes.
And because of those abilities, the Celestial Court keeps a tight leash on the clan, and makes them do all the dirty black ops job for them - investigation, espionage, assassination. It is well known through the court and immortals who they are and what they do, so a lot of immortals eyes them with distrust. So despite being cultivators and immortals themselves, they are treated like outcasts.
It's a genetic lottery if the abilities will be passed down to the child or not, so the court often forces the women of the clan to drink from the child-bearing river. If the baby does not show the tell-tale sign of pink hair and gold-flecked eyes....
And then something happens, haven't hashed out the details yet where they are framed by the Celestial Court for something they did not do, and the Court then ordered the clan's entire massacre.
Erlang Shen was the one who was leading the massacre, but he knew it was wrong, so he stole an artifact in the shape of a pocket mirror that let's you travel between two worlds, thus making Sàfēi the only survivor of the massacre.
She settled down in "our" world, got married and had kids and then eventually in the 21st century, Oz was born with pink hair and gold-flecked eyes.
While Oz did inherit Sàfēi's blood bending, Oz will never be able to unlock it's full potential like her ancestors did, because that requires centuries of cultivating and be an immortal. Becoming an immortal is simply not on her to-do-list...
Being a bloodbender, it also means that Oz has immunity against poison, rarely falls sick and her she heals from injuries much at a much faster rate. And she cannot get drunk (never stopped her from pretending to be drunk though)
and that's it. Have a doodle of Kiwi and Oz talking about Erlang Shen
#szynkART#cepheus baskerville#i am cooking tonight#god realized she would be too poweful with bloodbending power so he had to nerf her and gave her crippling depression#jk but yeah I have to nerf her somehow#a massive conflict in part 2 of my non-existing story is that once the court caught wind of Oz#they wanna put a leash on her and make her continue do what her ancestors did#probably force her from drinking from the childbearing river and give birth to more off spring#wow that went dark really fast#black myth wukong#black myth wukong oc#sun wukong#sun wukong x reader#sun wukong x oc

chapter 1: perv
summary: When a new serial killer prowls the streets of Gotham and murders politicians in Gotham, Batman is forced into unraveling the city's dark secrets. Only, he didn't expect to team up with you. What an unlikely duo...
pairing: Batman x Reader
word count: 2k
warning: spoilers for The Batman (2022)
note: no use of (y/n) and enjoy!
Sonata in Darkness: ... [2]
“Thursday, October thirty-first…
The streets are crowded for the holiday, but hiding in the chaos… is the element. Waiting to strike at the decent… the vulnerable…
But I’m there too. Watching.
Two years of nights have turned me into a nocturnal animal. It’s a big city, I can’t be everywhere… but they don’t know that.
We have a signal now. When that light hits the sky, it’s not just a call… It’s a warning.
Fear is a tool.
They think I’m hiding in the shadows…
But I am the shadows.
I am vengeance.”
———————————————————————————————
“Watch where you’re going, pipsqueak.”
The man who backed into you spat, grumbling as he stumbled away. Sighing, you rolled your eyes but kept your composure and continued on your way with a covered tray in your hands. Luckily the bastard didn’t make you drop it.
The dim club obscured most features of a person, but the colorful lights revealed everything with a flash or blink. You were dolled up in your work attire: glamorous makeup, a slutty dress, heels, the whole works. Men and women alike found you irresistible—a real catch.
You approached the table with a friendly smile as you set the tray down and revealed its contents: drops. The partiers cheered and clamored to get their hands on the drugs presented before them. With a wink you left the group, all while ignoring the stares and occasional whistles. Slipping behind the bar you saw the bartender waving to get your attention.
“What’s up?”
“Drops. Mr. Cobblepot wants these—“ He pointed to another tray, this time with a thick envelope and a fresh drink, “—delivered to him upstairs.”
“Sure thing,” you said as you gathered the item and sauntered out of the underground club. The almost calming blue light of the 44 Below was immediately erased by the harsh, flashing red lights of the club upstairs. If you weren’t so used to it, it would have given you a headache. You were almost there when suddenly-
“Selina?”
“Oh hey, my little mouse, haven’t seen you all night,” Selina purred with a smile. “Where’re ya off to?”
“Oz. He requested some samples from below.”
She hummed in understanding. “Want me to come with? I’m not doing much.”
“Yes, please.”
Your night just got slightly better. Selina was a friend of yours—your best friend, actually. You guys were sharing an apartment at the moment to save on some cash, but you didn’t mind. The only thing that drove you a little crazy was that she’d seemingly turn up with a new stray cat almost every few days. As long as they didn’t start stinking up the apartment, you didn’t really care. At least they were cute.
You guys linked arms and laughed as you made your way past the crowd and to his office, heels clicking on the cold metal floor. Selina took the tray from you to hold it herself—how sweet. Getting closer to his office, you could hear men talking in low tones. Making your way inside, the men silenced themselves. Oz was sitting on his couch while a man clad in a black suit stood in front of him. He looked very… menacing as he stared you and Selina down.
“Hey, it’s okay, baby,” Oz thankfully interrupted. “Mr. Vengeance don’t bite.”
Recognizing the man as the one and only caped crusader did not calm your nerves in the slightest. ‘The Batman’ was only a slightly new figure in Gotham, known for taking justice into his own hands—his reasons unknown. ‘Maybe he flunked out of the Police academy,’ you had thought humorously at one point. Figuring it was only a matter of time before he tried to involve himself in Penguin’s business, it was still surprising to see him in your boss’ office.
He was still staring at you—no—into you. His harsh blue eyes never wavered from yours, even as your friend gave him a pointed look and delivered the tray to Oz. He finally looked away when he heard Oz ruffling through the money in the envelope and setting a stash of drops on the tray. As Selina set down the drink onto the table, you too had looked away from the dark man, and your eyes fell onto the photograph before her. It was Annika being escorted by Mayor Mitchel, no doubt, but you could also make out you, Selina, and Oz standing behind the couple talking. Selina gave you a look.
“Thank you, honey,” Oz said, breaking you out of your spell. You smiled hesitantly and turned to leave, daring to look back at the black crusader, but he was already looking your way. Linking arms with Selina again, you hastily made your way out of there and back into the main club area. Before you could though, she yanked you back and pressed herself against the nearby wall, urging you to do the same.
“That was Anni.”
“Yeah, I saw. Why’d he have a picture of her?”
“I’m not sure,” Selina said. “But it can’t be good. Shh, now listen.”
You couldn’t see what your friend saw, but suddenly she gave a sharp turn and started rushing away.
“Go, we have to leave. He saw us.”
An indescribable feeling swelled inside you, but you obediently slinked away after her. After grabbing your belongings and coats from the locker rooms, Selina grabbed your hand and led the way outside.
“Taxi!”
However, it wasn’t long after when you clambered in the backseat of the car that Selina got a phone call. “Hey, it’s me. What’samatter, baby? Slow down, I can’t—on the news? No, wait for us, we’re on our way home. We’re gonna get the hell out of here, I promise…if we have to go sooner, we’ll go tonight!” Selina gave you an uneasy look. “Look, sweetie, we’re just a block away, I‘ll be there soon. Love you.”
———————————————————————————————-
The rain pelted against the man’s back as he peered into some windows with his binoculars atop a nearby building. A woman with short, blonde hair was a wreck and sobbing at the TV. Not long after, two more women, the very same he saw earlier in the club, rushed in to comfort. The dark haired one stayed behind to reassure her as he watched you slip into the back rooms to pull out a bodysuit. You looked around, paranoid in your own home but saw nothing, so you hastily shimmied out of your club dress and into your new apparel–a catsuit. The man moved to get a better look; his eyes lingered a little too long before jumping back to the two other women. By the time you finished getting dressed, the other woman he saw you with was gearing up and you two were sliding out the window. The now-pixie haired woman flipped over the railing and onto the ground while you slid down a nearby pole. Reaching the bottom, you made your way to the garage and hopped on a motorcycle that the woman was operating. The man rushed after the pair, worried that he’d lose them. Climbing onto his own bike, he pursued the women and gave chase.
————————————————————————————————
The rope was thin and light, but just sturdy enough to carry a person. Once your partner in crime made it down through the skylight, you tossed down the lock picking kit to her and lowered yourself down. It took some investigating, but after a while Selina ran her hands along a rather large painting and managed to find a button. Pressing it made the painting retract and allowed the safe to eject.
Silently working as one, you assembled the tool until it was completed and Selina could look through the scope. As she was deep in concentration, deciding to look around the room wouldn’t hurt. It was a nice, big office, only fit for a mayor. As your eyes wandered, you couldn’t help but notice a shadow flicker overhead. “Cat?” you whispered.
The split second it took to look over at her gave the shadow enough time to materialize just as Selina cracked the safe.
“You’re pretty good at that.”
Instantly your body went into fight mode. A flurry of kicks and spins forced the stranger to make space between you and the safe. As you were fighting, Selina rummaged through the iron box until she found what she was looking for—the passport. Interested in what was in her hand, the man made a bold move and grabbed your leg that was coming for him, twisting the appendage and throwing you away as he stalked after her. Leaping to your feet, Selina called out, “Catch!”
Smoothly catching the book and zipping it away in your front breast compartment, you joined your friend in attacking the assailant. With his back facing you, you jumped on top and wrapped your legs around his face, choking him between your thighs. His breath turned ragged and he wheezed frantically; his hands went straight to trying to get you off. In return, he took multiple blows from Selina from the front. Finding it almost impossible to knock you off first without dealing with your partner, he delivered a calculated punch that rendered her breathless before he flung her across the room. Gasping, he finally got a hold and heaved you over his head and onto a table. One of his hands immediately went to your throat to hold you down; your hands met with it at once. His grip was strong and unrestricted; it felt like he could kill you if he pressed down a little harder. Seeing the fight leave your body as your eyes bulged and glistened in fear, he took a moment to examine you. Your hands were still furiously pawing at the glove around your throat as you struggled to gasp for breath. He wouldn’t budge.
Giving you a glare as he drank in air, his gaze fixed themselves onto the front of your suit. Sliding his free hand down, he unzipped the breast pocket and fished out the little passport. He struggled as you fought for breath. His hand on your throat disappeared, leaving you gasping as you collapsed to the ground, body hunched over itself as you started a coughing fit. He flipped open the book.
He stood in front of you, panting, “Kosolov, Annika… He hurt her? That’s why you killed him?”
He gave you a while to respond. Rising to your feet and rubbing your neck, you choked out, “What? We didn’t kill anybody.” Selina rose to her feet.
A door creaked open just as you went to swipe the book in his hand. Effortlessly, he pulled you into his chest and spun around the corner, his hand covering the lower portion of your face. Panic swelled inside of you; was he going to choke you again? But the pressure remained consistently light as he shushed you, so you took the chance to take deep breaths to calm your racing heart. You could almost feel yourself melting into his embrace. Echoing footsteps slowly paraded around the room you had previously occupied—Selina must have hid. Thoughts trampled around in your mind until the sound of the door squeaking shut awakened you. You broke free from his grasp.
“Rat?” Selina whispered out as she crawled out of her hiding space. Whispering back, she slinked into the room.
“I swear, you’ve got the wrong idea, okay? We didn’t kill anybody-“
“He thinks we murdered someone?” Selina asked, even more pissed off at the accusation
“-We’re taking back what was stolen. Mayor Mitchel took it from her when all she’s trying to do is leave this dump of a city.”
“What does she know?” The Batman asked, face highlighted by the skylight from above.
“Whatever it is,” interjected Selina, “it’s got her so spooked she won’t even tell me.”
“She did seem upset.” Your eyes widened, ‘What?’
“Back at your place,” he continued. “Let’s go talk to her.” Meeting hesitant looks, he offered the passport back to your friend who gladly snatched it out of his hand.
Sneaking out of the apartment undetected, he followed behind to where your bike was—his was parked right beside it. Climbing onto the passenger seat of Selina’s bike, you called out to him. “Hey…how much did you see at our place?” His eyes darted to your figure but failed to meet your eyes before busying himself with his own bike. Was that…bashfulness?
“Perv.”

These were comments to me under my Chaggie fanart
In short, people criticize me for allegedly making queer people (especially women) feel uncomfortable
And the fact that Vaggie’s ONLY lesbian was called Vagina doesn’t bother them (It doesn’t matter what the “plot” is like, it’s still ridiculous, and even that doesn’t even have an impact)
And the fact that at GalaxyCon 2024, Hazbin's voice actors even gave some characters taste preferences for the films, but not Vaggie… Information Hazbin Hotel at GalaxyCon 2024
Translate: "Favorite movie characters: Angel Dust: Labyrinth Valentino: the adult films he makes Niffty: American Psycho Alastor: doesn't like videos Charlie: The Wizard of Oz What songs/singers do you associate with your characters? Valentino: Sl*t Pop (Kim Petras) Cherry Bomb: 80's Rock Niffty: Thrash Metal Alastor: Jazz Angel Dust: Nick Drake Charlie: Robyn, Muna"
And the fact that there is NO Vaggie in the official autograph posters, but Alastor and Charlie are together on one poster
Even damn Alastor and Charlie have a joint poster, but Charlie and Vaggie don’t (although this is the MAIN couple in the series) And then these fans continue to claim that they are like, "These characters exist to show people that we LGBT exist and deserve love," and for some reason making queer people feel embarrassed is just us I'm extremely sorry for Vaggie, she doesn't deserve such indifference I love Chaggie, but I really don’t like how the show implements them in a strange way
I don't want to hate Hazbin, but I'm really sick of fans complaining
Leave it to fans to bitch about one thing while completely over looking another.
The thing is ur not even erasing anything cuz what ur drawing doesn't change what's already canon. Vaggie is a lesbian, she will STAY a lesbian and we know that. We will accept it. But there ain't nothing wrong with putting a little imagination into a drawing.

There are these really heavy hardbooks of old classics; Alice in Wonderland, Little Women, 1001 Nights, Wizard of OZ, etc etc. They're honestly quite beautiful with metallic accents and also very expensive, and I'll be honest and say I'm an uncultured swine (lol) with no interest in owning these books, but yeah- Those hard covers are just such a joy to look at and even within themselves they have a "mini-maximalism" look to them. Very elaborate, but also simple and to the point? In the same shop, right next to them is a section with very boring minimalist book covers. You just have to imagine, these very elaborate heavy looking bookcovers that could comfortably fit into your local friends gothic library, and next to them in the store are extreme minimalis hardcover books with eg a cover that's half red on top, sky blue bottom, with name of the author and book in bright yellow and orange. I could barely read the title it was so unpleasant. Though to be fair, another section further there are some East Asian novels with really nice character art of the actual relevant characters on the cover with lovely detail, and another section over you have some pretty looking books by smaller authors. I wonder if those bitterly bright looking minimalist books are more in fashion with a certain crowd. Or I could imagine that maybe more elaborate covers are present for certain smaller publishers and translations, while those that churn out books might prefer a minimalist palette since it's cheaper. Though I have no idea. Eitherway I'm definitely a person who reads with the eye, haha, and half the battle as to winning those eyes are some lovely covers I can swoon over, and don't give me eye strain.
--
I think that sometimes, for big, big names, they like to just highlight the author name and not spend much cover real estate on other things.

Entry for @far-side-skies art challenge, this month we were assigned the splendid sunbird and I had some fun with the colors..may have used the purples a bit too much but i regent nothing XD This was from a stomhawks next gen thing I thought up of years ago and never went into much detail for any the characters in it XD
~info~
Name: Ozul Nickname: Oz Age: 16 Height: 5.8" Race: Human/Bird experiment (no feathers yet)/Clone of the Dark Ace (doesn't know that yet) Gender: Hermaphrodite Sexuality: Unsure Home Terra: Farside - New Cyclonia Region Skills: Sky-fu, basic sky and ground combat, Crystal mage trainee
~Story~ When the floating terra of cyclonia fell and Master Cyclonis fled through the portal, she fled with a few loyalist but one wasn't among them ..the champion known as the dark ace was gone.
Being the Impatient women she is Cyclonis ordered Nikolai to get to work on bring back the dark ace. With not much of a lab set up this annoyed the scientist, but rather then risking his masters wrath he did as ordered and began the long process of cloning. Years later after a few failures, little Oz was the one that survived into his first stages of life, but as he grew his body wasn't holding up as it should have given the lack of Dark Ace's DNA to help build it back up Nikolai had to use what he had on hand, which was the DNA's of a bird and the masters to stabilize the boy. Around the time Oz turned five he was wondering around the farside boarder between when he bumped into a young Shang Akagiyama of Terra Kistune royal family, the two boys grew to bond and this gave Cyclonis the idea to use him as a pawn to get an alliance with the Kitaran. This then made her take the boy under her wing and removing him from Nikolai's care.
Growing up Ozul slowly learned just what type of person his mother was and what happened when she was made upset or disappointed. The burns on his left arm will be a permanent reminder of those lessons. Weirdly enough all Oz wishes if for her love and approval and thinks her coldness and harsh punishments are merely an act she puts on, to showcase her standing as ruler of New Cyclonia, so he pushes himself to study, train and practice in hopes of achieving that.
Having Shang for a friend definitely made Ozul feel less alone, hell the Kitaran was his first and only best friend, his mother forbid him from ever leaving the palace, not truly caring about his needs at all and just wanting a weapon to keep by her side, In the early morning on his sixteenth birthday Shang got him to sneak out and took him to Atmos. One glace of the sky and clouds, was all it took and Oz fell love with it, the duo continued this habit of sneaking over to the other side and not wanting to get caught Nikolai had a special outfit created for Ozul (he caught Oz sneaking back in one night but kept it hush hush) that would hide his identity; the armor on it would react to his crystal binding abilities and actually amplify them by a small percentage, thanks to the metal it was forged out of.

Wow that was a lot to type, hope it wasn't too allover the place XD

One of my favorite bat for lashes interviews is the one she did with New York times in July of 2009
A NIGHT OUT WITH BAT FOR LASHES
Animals, Plastic or Dead
In this interview, her and the interviewer first go to a costume shop together.
“ ‘I love dressing up,’ she said”
Her album ‘two suns’ which was released at around that time was heavily inspired by the city of New York, so it was wonderful reading about her way of interacting with the big city.
“ ‘There’s a place near my house, I buy all my skeletons and animal heads there,’ she said. No such luck here, but she did like the store’s soundtrack, singing along to ‘If I Only Had a Brain’ from ‘The Wizard of Oz.’ “
then they go meet her band mates touring with her for a girls’ night.
“An hour later, having bought a feathered mask (to wear as a hat), some glittery makeup and a fake stuffed raven for the stage, Ms. Khan headed to Freemans on the Lower East Side to meet her bandmates.”
We also find out the meaning behind her name, which I honestly find quite amusing:
“As for her stage name, Bat for Lashes ‘doesn’t really mean anything,” she said. “It conjured up Halloween-y images, and it sounded metal and feminine.’ ”
You can read the full interview through this web archive, I really recommend it! It is a fun short read and gives some light insight into her and her band mates’ experiences with being women in music.

TikTok Is Obsessed With Water. Experts Are Concerned
Welcome to WaterTok, where the ice is loud, the vibes relentlessly positive, and the beverages zero-calorie
BY EJ DICKSON | APRIL 14, 2023 | Article Link
“I’m on my second water of the day and it is 11:55, so I am cruisin’ with the water goals today!” Tonya Spanglo cheerily announces in her TikTok video. She bounds over to her “water bar,” a collection of sundry Skinny Mix syrups on a Lazy Susan. Cotton candy flavor? Nope. Dragon fruit acai? Nah, not today. She settles on coconut, mixed with a packet of pineapple flavoring, because, as she trumpets, “Mama’s trying to have a pina colada!” She breaks out her peach-colored, 40 oz. Simple Modern cup, twirls around her straw, and takes a sip before breaking out into Rupert Holmes’ “Escape (The Pina Colada Song).”
Welcome to WaterTok, where the ice is loud, the vibes relentlessly positive, and the beverages zero-calorie. The hashtag, which has about 94.1 million views, features a panoply of upbeat, mostly white women in athleisure with charming Southern accents, showing off their recipes for flavored water in their giant metal Stanley cups. There is peach-ring flavored water. There is Dole Whip-flavored water. There is even banana-split-flavored water, and, perhaps most infamously, birthday cake.
With her messy bun, Oklahoman twang, and relentlessly upbeat manner, Spanglo, who goes by @takingmylifebackat42 on TikTok, is the undisputed champion of the genre, posting her first concoction — a coconut-and-pineapple-flavored beverage mixed with Sonic’s ocean water packet, which she dubs “mermaid water” — in June 2022. “I have been dubbed the queen of WaterTok,” she tells Rolling Stone, as her four-year-old granddaughter plays in the background (later, she will request a sip of water, though Spanglo will inform me that it is plain). Through posting her water recipes on TikTok, she’s garnered more than 700,000 followers, as well as an affiliate partnership with Skinny Mixes, from which she says she gains a 10 percent sales commission with her videos. (A rep for Skinny Mixes confirmed to Rolling Stone that following Spanglo’s mermaid water video, Mermaid sold out a record seven times.)
Editor’s picks
Like many other food trends on TikTok, #WaterTok could be seen as relatively innocuous, if not a little silly; many commenters have pointed out that flavored water is essentially juice, or that using artificial sweetener-laden Skinny syrup is not exactly healthy. Others have noted that WaterTok skews heavily white, female, and Southern (a critique that Spanglo, who is all three, dismisses: “Maybe I need to do more research, [but] I do not know where that came from,” she says).
Meagan Anderson, an over-40 lifestyle influencer from Texas who has made her own #WaterTok videos involving collagen, acknowledges that even she was wary when she first saw the trend: “Water seems so simple. And flavored packets have been around forever. It’s basically the same thing as Kool-Aid to someone my age,” she tells Rolling Stone. “It was funny — the younger generation was basically making Kool-Aid come back again, kinda like skinny jeans or parachute pants.”
Yet watching content creators on TikTok playing alchemist with various flavored packets and syrups is admittedly hypnotizing, even if it’s hard to pinpoint exactly why. Some experts, however, have genuine concerns about the trend, pointing out that because many of the videos are targeted toward weight loss, the videos could be harmful to those struggling with disordered eating habits.
WaterTok “has the element of danger because it is a classic eating disorderbehavior that happens,” says Jillian Lampert, chief strategy officer for the Emily Program and Veritas Collaborative, which offers comprehensive eating-disorder treatment programs in nine states. “In their fear and anxiety about eating and weight, they try to minimize the calories that come in.” Lampert refers to the practice of filling up on fluids as a means of ignoring hunger cues as “long-term, old-school eating disorder behavior.”
To be fair, not every WaterTok video is hashtagged #weightloss, and the trend is not overtly coded as a weight-loss method. Yet its origins are indeed rooted in weight loss, at least according to Spanglo, who is not the original progenitor of the trend but has certainly done more than anyone else to popularize it. Spanglo tells Rolling Stone she began drinking flavored water as a way to meet her water goals after having gastric sleeve surgery three years ago, with her doctor recommending she drink at least 64 ounces per day to aid in her recovery. She says drinking plain water made her literally ill: “It would make me so full I would puke. You feel like something is erupting in your esophagus,” she says. She had already been using Skinny syrups to flavor her coffee, so she decided to try using them to flavor her water; following her surgery, she has lost more than 220 pounds, she says.
Related
Spanglo says she started posting her water recipes on TikTok last year, with her mermaid water and her “unicorn” water — a mix of a pink Starbursts packet and Skinny syrup’s blue raspberry frosting flavor — racking up millions of views. Along with her general weight-loss content, she now posts water recipes almost every day, most of which get hundreds of thousands of views; after featuring her new clear cup (“so people can see all the colors”) in a recent video, the cup sold out on Amazon within two hours of the video going live.
Though Spanglo says her followers range widely in terms of demographics, she estimates that about 60 percent are gastric bypass patients like her who are trying to meet their water goals. “We have built this weight-loss community and we are all getting healthier and happier together,” she says.
Lampert, however, has concerns about WaterTok, particularly since much of the content is marketed with the hashtag #weightloss. Though, she says, it will likely prove harmless for the majority of those who encounter it, for people who are vulnerable to developing disordered eating habits, “it can very easily be a way for people to feel like they are ingesting food and adequate nourishment when they are not,” she admits.
In addition to the fact that many people with eating disorders drink excessive amounts of water to drown out hunger cues, there are also significant healthissues associated with overconsumption of water, says Wendy Oliver-Pyatt, the CEO and chief medical officer of Within Health, a remote treatment program for people with eating disorders. She cites hyponatremia, a condition that causes low levels of sodium in the body and can potentially lead to cardiac effects, as one potential complication.
“Anything that is egging us on to drink water to lose weight has the potential to take us out of being balanced and thoughtful in our pursuit of health, to doing things that become dangerous,” she says. Though there is a clear distinction between trying to stay well-hydrated (the standard rule of thumb for adults is about 64 fluid ounces, or eight cups, per day) and overconsumption of water to the point of risking one’s health, Oliver-Pyatt cautions that using water as a weight-loss tool makes it easier for people to lose sight of that distinction. “If you’re drinking water to lose weight, Houston, we have a problem,” she says.
That concern is exacerbated by the nature of TikTok’s algorithm, which recommends content to users that they are more likely to engage with, regardless of whether they’re actively searching for it. Due to its algorithm and its relatively young user base, TikTok has come under scrutiny from eating disorder specialists, who have argued that the platform prioritizes potentially harmful content in the form of weight-loss ads and potentially triggering “What I Eat In a Day”-type videos.
In response to this criticism, TikTok issued a policy limiting weight-loss product ads for those under 18, and it has also added a disclaimer to weight-loss searches on the app. When asked for comment, a spokesperson for TikTok noted #WaterTok does not appear to be violative of any of its policies, stating, “content that promotes, normalizes, or glorifies disordered eating is prohibited on TikTok and we remove content that violates those guidelines.”
Nonetheless, despite these safeguards, Lampert says the prospect of falling down a weight-loss-content rabbit hole on an app like TikTok can be dangerous for those struggling with disordered eating.
“From a client perspective, we hear so much [about TikTok], regularly, with clients under 40,” she says. “The story used to be, ‘I heard about this diet from a friend and then before I knew it I was out of control.’ Now, all of the stories start with, ‘I was online and I saw this thing and I got sucked into it, and even when I tried to change my content I couldn’t, and my whole feed was around diet and weight loss.’ That’s really striking to me as a clinician.”
When asked about whether her WaterTok videos promote disordered eating, Spanglo says she never advocates for flavored water as a meal replacement (though she does make videos promoting protein shakes for this purpose), and that she notes in most of her videos and Lives that she is not a trained dietitian or nutritionist. “I’m not telling you what’ll work for you. I’m saying what worked for me,” she says. Anderson says that she is “12,000 percent against” using flavored water as a “cheat or hack”: “I am anti-diet and anti-skipping calories. I am pro giving your body things it needs,” she says. “This does not add to your nutritional needs. It’s just elevating your water.”
Yet with WaterTok booming and receiving media coverage around the world — Spanglo says that within the past 48 hours alone, she received requests from Katie Couric, the Drew Barrymore show, and the New York Post to talk about her videos — it’s easy to see how that message could potentially get lost in a sea of general diet and weight-loss content promoted as wellness.
Trending
“It will help some people because they’ll drink more water,” says Lampert. “But some people will think that drinking birthday-cake-flavored water is the same as eating birthday cake. And it’s not.”
Update 1:40 p.m., 4/14/23: This story has been updated to include comment from a TikTok spokesperson.

###
About Alewife Brewing Alewife Brewing is a small batch brewery located in the heart of the Sunnyside section of Queens, NY. We focus on brewing traditional and innovative styles of beer, using only the finest ingredients. Our goal is to provide a unique and enjoyable drinking experience for all who visit our taproom.
Alewife Brewing has fallen in love with the stories of ancient times and the roles women had in society. The peace they emulated through their beliefs and love towards nature and all species has inspired us to capture their magic in our beers and on our 16 oz. can labels. The latest historical findings suggest that wine was not the oldest elixir, but in fact, beer mixed with psychedelic substances used in shamanistic ceremonies dating back much further. Gathered and formulated, the Alewives were the makers of both spiritual and medicinal potions.
Through our journeys thus far in life, weve developed a deep love for ancient elixirs while brewing and traveling to learn ancient and modern techniques for exceptional beers brewed at our new home in Sunnyside, Queens.
Don't worry, it's just beer we make, no special additions!

I'm always reminded of Supernatural and TAZ Balance arc, spoilers for both sorry.
Supernatural is the deaths that always pissed me the fuck off, because you had Felicia Day literally running off to the wizard of oz world with Dorothy to get hitched, then she is randomly brought back to die. And its so fucking stupid because her story was done, she had her happy ending she didn't need to come back to die.
Whereas in TAZ Balance, during Petals to the Metal, Griffin sends off Women in a moment of emotional sacrifice that does actually help the plot along, their deaths MEANT SOMETHING. But! In realizing that he had "Buried Your Gays" he fixed it, he brought them back to help Tres Horny Boys and to help save some folk during John's attack.
I'm convinced it was a tragedy that tumblr learned the phrase "bury your gays" at the exact same time it decided that any fictional media darker than Landlord White was pearl-clutchingly problematic. Pouring one out for every creator of earnest LGBT+ media wanting to explore the themes of grief loss and tragedy who then got subsequently hounded by mobs of terminally online users brainrotted on nothing but conflict-free coffee shop AUs.
