The very first part could be about leaving for work, Wingdings is probably working from very early in the morning! Sans takes it more easy

Ohhh boy do I have stuff to SAY!!!!

Egon: so first of all, I do NOT consider the woman we see in later seasons his mother. She could not have possibly been like this based on how Egon turned out. The only canon info we have about his parents from s1-2 is that once in college Egon got an A- and they didn’t speak to him for a week. So. A family of perfectionist scientists, valuing results over process, probably emotionally closed off, and who, though not intentionally, still ended up making him feel like he’s only of worth if he’s useful and perfect.

So, I’m not their huge fan, and I doubt they maintain a close relationship.

Also I dislike uncle Cyrus greatly, sorry to all uncle Cyrus fans, he evokes unspeakable anger in me, I want to hit him with hammers.

I must say though that Egon having multiple ancestors doing the most random sidequests ever is hilarious. Like wdym there’s a guy who summoned a dragon. Wdym there’s a guy who caught a witch.

The dragon is Egon’s son btw and he’s great.

Overall: 5/10, not a horrible family but definitely had a bad effect on him.

Ray: THIS GUY WON THE FAMILY LOTTERY!! Amazing, sweet aunt Lois who cares about him and his friends and can admit when she’s in the wrong. Cool cousin Sam who operates a whole farm by herself and is also super nice. A (dead) uncle who gave him a castle and a duke title! Fun (also dead) uncle who left his shop for him to inherit!! Like come on, dude won this life.

10/10, no notes.

Peter: ohhhh. Ohhhhhh. This poor man. Dead mom whom he clearly loved, but who passed too soon, deadbeat FUCKING dad whom Peter still cares about but never lets him see it because he is still hurt over this man choosing his conman life over his son continuously when he was young OUGHHH their dynamic is so unbearable to watch, I swear to god. Jim Venkman when I catch u.

Overall: 3/10 this dude is literally a walking catalogue of family issues.

Winston: this one depends on what you consider canon! In s2 he says he has no family, later he mentions he had a grandma who (from what I can guess) was nice. In s4 we suddenly see his dad who has a very weird conflict with Winston regarding his job that gets resolved with a snap bc writing SUCKS, and in EGB he mentions his sister.

Overall: 6/10 mostly bc we don’t really know anything about his family but he doesn’t seem traumatised by them. Points.

Janine: we only really see her family once and they seem very regular and nice, she seems to have a good relationship with them, so no notes here.

Overall: 7/10 points for being a good fam, but no points for not having personalities.

really love characters who have varied panic responses. kirk stating himself that he does not panic outright, externally, not in high-stress dangerous situations, but instead becomes tense and level like a wound string, on-guard: mostly because his role as captain necessitates that he maintain level rationality even when facing potential death as his training as 'the guy who tells you what to do when shit hits the fan' requires, but also because his childhood experiences taught him early that drowning in the desperate haziness of panic won't help you survive. especially as kirk already follows his intuition so deeply. he learned to grasp and contort the feeling. spock is the main person who represses his emotions, of course, but kirk does it to those deep-set, personal ones (this includes how he doesn't reveal anything truly personal about himself willingly 90% of the time, only what others already know/shallow anecdotes) in a much more subtle way that's really interesting to me. certified expert at avoiding the subject as long as he isnt caught out on the lie. professional bluffer.

in terms of past or parents we dont know much!!! hes known as the heart-on-his-sleeve guy!!! like yes he yells, he gets irritated, excited, hes a whirlwind of quick-thinking and plans and intuition, he goes out of his way to connect with his crew and shows it, when he puts on a little act or bluff he puts his heart into it and clearly enjoys the dramatics so much, at times he wears his heart on his sleeve, he laughs openly and is honest to spock about what he means to him, he's very sun-coded to me in a burning, passionate way, always intertwined with the stars and seeking them out, but when it comes to genuine deep-set turmoil? we dont actually know all that much about him??? hes so full of emotion and character (i love fics where spock characterises jim's mind/bond as a whirl of colour and sensations, hes a quick thinker!!! intuitive!! lively!!!) and yet its still so outwardly surface level. tarsus iv gets mentioned like twice? so especially here where kirk gets briefly jumpscared by the creature, because like:

its subtle but his eyes. his eyesss!!!!! kirk commands with his emotions but there's always some sort of level of control to it, or he transforms them into something that spurs on others or uses them to ascertain a goal: seeing unguarded fear/distress in his eyes even if its faint and brief (in this instance) makes me go insane every single time. like!!! its such a small moment!!! he isnt even panicking!!! really, he just got jumpscared!!! its insignificant!!!!!!! but seeing a two-second flash of actual, naked apprehension is just...oughhh,,,,,,,,,

oh god, and dont even get me started on the galileo seven episode where he assumes a tense level-headedness throughout the whole thing, irritated and apprehensive but not panicking, making sure he maintains intelligent rationality, even when he has to leave them behind, but when spock and the crew are confirmed safe and the bridge is occupied the camera pans to him and his eyes look like they're fucking watering and he's so achingly relieved. don't even talk to me. im. fuck.

he shows so so much but at the same time reveals so little.

I'm intrigued by Raven and Gray's reactions to all this; are they startled because this is distinctly Not How Fire Behaves or is it cultural? Either way it was extremely well written

And how strong Cloudpaw has to be to make that choice I CAANNNTTT. It's truly a rock and a hard place, and I really hope Fireheart continues to be a shoulder to lean on because this seems too large of a struggle for cloud to face on his own

And rosy :(( I love that we have a clear difference drawn between her and fire as siblings, how she's willing to bury Cloudpaw's love for his Clan if only he would stay with her, and how fireheart so clearly wants him home but is willing to let him make that choice-- it's so good. And I love rosy reverting to "rusty" at the very end; she's grasping for anything familiar to keep her family close and that just happens to come in the form of throwing away his chosen name. It's beautiful and extremely heartbreaking, and it was written SOO well.

This chapter hit very hard, superb job!!!

Ravenwing and Greystripe legitimately did not think Fireheart had it in him to give such a strict and severe decree like this. No one did! To see it in person is mind-blowing. And a little frightening.

I can't say too much to the rest, but I'm very glad you enjoyed the chapter! It was supremely fun to write and I've been very excited to get to it.

canto 7 pt 3 spoilers and thoughts and stuff

i really didn't expect her to be like.. locked up. by herself. its so sad. i feel so bad for her in the lighthouse. also the I WANT YOU poster cracked me up.

vergilius calling her "my lady" was cute. i thought we were going to get more of their friendship this canto but apparently not. maybe later :( but also what's up with his eyes?? who's his old friend??? WHO did he take the eyes from?? it's not don quixote because he still has his eyes, so it's either the bloodfiend moses spoke with, or it's the progenitor?? or there's more first-gen blood fiends we don't know about.

i'm not smart enough to understand the implications of this. but ??? sinclair standing up for donqui?? yaaaayy!!!! the sign??? and also him paralleling bari is definitely not a coincidence. i wonder what the mark of cain has to do with it all.

i didn't notice while i was playing but sinclair starts blushing when he asks her to open up. they're so cute. and they're trying their hardest to be vulnerable to their fucked up lil family. i love them.

WE GOT OUTIS LORE!!! LET'S GO!!! this was surprisingly vulnerable of her... and dante's response of "I will. As long as they have the will to change, to move forward, I will be there for them." was great. also girl what do you mean TENS OF THOUSANDS??? i'm starting to think outis has a lot more guilt for the smoke war than she lets on.

uhh and speaking of change that's another theme that's popping up more interestingly enough. yi sang, sinclair, and being "unable to change" is what caused heathcliff to distort. interesting narrative theme. (starts side eyeing dante and outis). also change being one of the biggest themes of library of ruina, with roland and angela needing to break the cycle of the City to achieve their good ending.

bari is cool as shit

the cutscene that follows this where they're all talking about how much fun they had with donqui through the stageplay was genuinely both so cheesy and sweet i almost cried.

oughhh i'm not bothered to grab screenshots from every part i enjoyed of the final point so we're doing dot points again!

sancho's backstory of being born alone and wishing to die before don quixote gave her love and life was... holy shit. "That is why you saved my life from the periphery of death... tried to share your love... and made my heart beat again."

again with the themes of suicide. the original don quixote sees sancho as special because she doesn't want to inflict suffering on others and instead simply wishes to "burn myself to ashes like I was never here". and that's how she gets her first family. because she suffered alone. and then don quixote makes his children suffer alone in la manchaland.

"I don't know who I am" lyric in Hero hits really song. YEAH I FORGOT TO MENTION MILI PEAK!!! it really feels like some of their older music, especially something from mahoyaku (the Big Moon in the background during the final phase certainly helped). the second part sounds especially like Cast Me a Spell. or something from miracle milk with the way the instrumentals and sfx sound. i really like it.

DON QUIXOTEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE WAAAAAAAAAAA WAAAAA

"She was incandescent, like a brilliant star twinkling in the night sky. / That very brilliance compelled me to reach out and hope." OUGHHH. dante's role in this chapter has been really interesting... they're like her, they're chained to their past but are also playing the role of someone who they don't know who they're meant to be. they have a really passive role in bringing sancho back to the Gang, with the other sinners stepping in to help her moreso than dante themselves, and then at the end, it's sancho who saves them, acts as their star, and gives them their dreams back (of having all the sinners together as one big happy family).

and just. holy shit. this entire sequence.

I DID NOT EXPECT A QUICKTIME EVENT!! big cast a spell vibes... i genuinely gasped when the fireworks went off..

LMAO SHE'S MAKING FUN OF HIM FOR THE ROCINANTE THING. also kyaa hong lu's teaching dante how to smile!!! i'm sure this won't have any terrifying implications next canto!!! definitely!! there's some interesting parallels to what donqui said about dante having an "expression" and what demian said about being able to hear them all the way back in canto iii, because donqui/demian listen to their "heart" and not their actual face/voice. interesting

also new dante sprite please???? please??? new dante pose perhaps even??? please????

interesting we're getting the clock ticking closer to doomsday after canto 7 and not 8. with the trajectory they're on, doomsday will happen during or after outis' canto (and before faust's). fun. can't wait for the random lore drop next intervallo/event where they take turns feeding don quixote their blood. please. please. please???

"What did I know?" Seungmin mumbled to himself, stepping out of Hyunjin's room after having calmed him down from his panic attack. He was right, despite the almost blunt words that seemed to make the elder happier than anything else the members told him as reassurance, something deep down in him regretted saying what he had said. Sometimes he wished he wasn't so straightforward with everything, able to give a little more than what has happened. However, as much as he wanted to, nothing ever came out as detailed as he'd like it to be, only the down-to-earth advice that was given that the members all appeared to take.

Everybody but him, it almost felt like so.

Opening the door back into his shared dorm with Felix, it stung how easily the Aussie was able to sense even the slightest shift in his mood, immediately rushing over to question about his well-being. Despite his desperate attempts to brush off his feelings as nothing, it wasn't enough to get past the elder's sharp gaze and observations, huffing before dragging the vocalist to the couch, which were adorned with skzoo plushies, something they both collectively decided on together. Swallowing back a snarky reply, he was swept away by the sweet scent of brownies and tea; he should remind Minho not to teach Felix bribery with food by now, but he forgets each time.

"Ah, so that's what you feel. You know, you don't always have to compare yourself to others, each person has their own way of comforting others; you're still you and are helping even if you're blunt at it. As they say, 'just follow my lane'." Felix coaxes calmly, the teacup pressing against his lips as he takes a sip of the warm beverage, waiting for the words he said to sink in. The thing is, Seungmin didn't even know how to reply to what was said, the words hitting all the way back home in such a way that left him completely speechless.

"But I look at others, and then myself, they seem to be better than me in this thing. Why's that? I keep going back at it without knowing," Seungmin finally manages out with a resigned sigh, placing his head in his hands. His cup of tea was left untouched, the brewed concoction unable to bring him out of the space that he's created for himself. Not even sparing a glance in his direction, the Aussie looped his arm around the elder's shoulder, clicking his tongue against the roof of his mouth.

"Don't compare yourself with others, as they say, 'It's okay to run slower, just follow my lane, take it easy, just look ahead and run'. Think you can do that with Hyunjin? There's no need to rush after all, go at your pace," Felix questions, and for once Seungmin takes the stupid advice, even if it sounds awfully familiar in the back of his mind.

But the moment he makes it to Hyunjin and Changbin's shared apartment, it all falls apart. He looks at Changbin first, cooking something while Hyunjin nags his ear off, it's how their relationship has been; an oddly age swapped pair where all Changbin does is try his best while Hyunjin makes a daily attempt to bite his ears off with a constant talk and nitpicking on how his food could taste better. And it's working! Somehow, the rapper never fights against the criticism, only melting into a puddle of happiness when he sees Hyunjin's and his cheeks stuffed with food. Something in him stirs, seeing how affectionate they were with each other, and he doesn't know why.

"Ah, we've got visitors, go entertain them! And stop touching me while I'm cooking!" Changbin yells across the hallway, a pink apron adorned around his waist while Hyunjin squeezes his waist one more time for reassurance on something unknown, and in no time flat he zooms towards Seungmin. The moment he sees the taller staring in front of him, everything Felix told him went out the window. Why was he staring at him like he was his next meal? Damn, his arms look amazing, bulging out of his tank top and veiny as hell- is that his skzoo in Hyunjin's pocket?

"Yes, it is, Changbin has Chan in his hoodie, and the rest are somewhere on his bed," He's been staring at Hyunjin for so goddamn long he didn't even know he was talking aloud, wasn't that just great? Being led into their cozy apartment, he allows himself to be dragged into the artist's room, scattered with paint and splotches of colour that he knew Changbin has endlessly whined about, eventually succumbing when the entire house looked like an art piece in itself.

"Did you come over to talk about something? You usually let us know before coming over." Fuck, how did Hyunjin just, instantly know whatever was going through his mind? Were him and Felix just crazy good mind readers, or was he just that easy to read? Letting out a sigh he didn't know he was holding, staring right into Hyunjin's eyes while explaining his situation feels like absolute hell, why did he just look majestic like that?

"Yea, I just feel like, I should be more sensitive about things y'know? Especially with you, Felix told me to talk to you about it. I- I feel like I'm too blunt about things, and what's so good about- Wahahahait!" Before he can explain himself fully, he forgets everything when two hands immediately begin to squeeze his sides tenderly. Hyunjin doesn't say anything yet, and Seungmin immediately thinks opening up about this was a complete mistake, and yet he can't stop the melody of giggles that tumble from his mouth.

"… is this really what you think of yourself? You may be 'blunt', or whatever bullshit you've called yourself, but your eyes always tell a different story," Dang it, he and Felix should really stop swearing during their gaming sessions, the other members are already beginning to pick up on it. But nonetheless, the artist's words did definitely lighten up the mood, hearing what he was exactly in other's people's eyes made him feel warm and fuzzy, especially since it was from Hyunjin of all people.

"Ahaha! I gehehet it! Plehehease!" Around others, all but him, he's never felt so weak, so vulnerable. Hyunjin was never one to skimp on the affection towards his maknaes, and especially when it came to glorifying their abilities, he excelled at that; just like how he excelled in literally everything else, Seungmin thinks. However, he's stumped when the fingers don't slow down or stop, the gentle feeling making the butterflies in his stomach tenfold, cheeks brightening when the taller places his chin onto the vocalist's shoulder, completely silent.

"Arghahaha! T-That reheheheally tickles!" Seungmin begs, despite the sensations being so soft against his skin, careful with it as if it was made of glass, it felt relentless, almost like a lesson that Hyunjin wanted to stick onto the puppy. His legs kick, he pushes at the nimble fingers weakly, and squeals loudly when a gentle kiss was placed against his skin, sending a shiver and peals of giggles to leave his mouth. And throughout all this, that damned menace was quiet, the soft sizzling of the stove being heard in the background.

"Hyuhuhung! I'm behehegging you!" It was only then did Hyunjin decide it was a good time to let up on the vocalist, slowing to a stop with his fingers drumming against his stomach to keep a few breathless giggles slipping out of his mouth. As if by a stroke of luck, Changbin waltzes into the room with two grilled cheese sandwiches that he looked awfully proud of, along with a bowl of tomato soup. Staring at them both in silent permission, Hyunjin nods while Seungmin gives a tiny thumbs up, and it was only then did the eldest of the trio place the glass plate onto the artist's nightstand, smiling widely and leaving the room.

For the directors cut asks I hope it's not too much to ask for a commentary on our shared fic (Case 8008135) if you want. (I had so much fun with it!) Otherwise I'd love to hear more about All Ghost Stories are Love Stories.

OUGHHH I WOULD LOVE TO DO A CASE 8008135 COMMENTARY (it will be very long so I'll hide it under the cut)

But!! If you haven't read Case File 8008135: The Disappearance of Impulse EsVee and Skizz LehMan then please do, it's so unbelievably good. We put so much work into it over the 3 weeks of prep time we had and we're both super proud of it!!!

Once we'd come up with the concept (a story told entirely through found media), I knew the order of the evidence was going to do a lot of heavy lifting when it came to putting together a cohesive story. If we'd left evidence of a kind together, once the reader hit the transcripts they'd know the plot—they could click away. To create the suspense we needed, we'd have to focus on splitting up the sections. Once we had a list of the evidence, I highlighted them all with three colours to categorize them as worldbuilding, evidence, and plot. Then I rearranged them (on the list) to have a worldbuilding heavy beginning, then add a bit of plot, then slowly shift more towards evidence and plot.

The YouTube videos at the beginning were an idea we'd tossed around but hadn't quite settled on until the very end because the CSS.... ew. Props to Am, because it looks sooooo cool. I knew that, if we did add that section, I wanted it at the top: first, to show it off, and second to establish a sense of the universe. For the uninitiated, Sam and Colby (the first thumbnail) is a very popular pair of ghost hunters; they also once explored with Tommy, so I just took his outline from that thumbnail, cut it out, and pasted it in with them. I had to turn the sky red in my thumbnail because I couldn't get the red tinge from their thumbnail out of his hair lol. Insym is, of course, the Phasmophobia streamer, so we had to include him; and LoeyLane is one of my favourite other spooky streamers, and did a video on McKamey Manor.

The Yelp reviews (I have been informed they just broke this morning... thank you for fixing them Am!) set the scene—folks are spooked, and we're in or around Maple and Brule (small towns in Northern Wisconsin where I grew up). It's also the first instance of ghost text, although you likely won't notice it on your first time through.

The first article is our first heavy lore drop, explaining the doctors (E.V. Ilxisuma and Hels Knight) and introducing a conflict between them. When I was writing my article (the second one, super long) I was like, 'Oh, well obviously I'll use Pix as the author, he already does a lot of archival stuff so he's perfect!' and then I scroll back up and see we've both had the same idea?? So I, after a very long, boring, intense writing session, decided 'Eh, this is Pix's grandson, Pix III.' And I went to bed. But can I just point out the beautiful formatting of the articles? Because I love it so much. They're beautiful <3

The HR complaint establishes Sunny Meadows as a case only GIGGS could solve, and references (of course) a variety of other MCYTers for the funsies.

Am did such a wonderful job capturing the characters' voices in the texts and transcripts, and I just tried to follow through by implementing capitalization errors as I think they use. Impulse uses a lot of emojis— :) :> <3 o.o—and while I know that he doesn't use capitalization, I needed someone in the groupchat to use capitalization, so I gave it to the responsible dad. The texts are from Skizz's phone, which was recovered from the 'crime scene' by investigators. Gem later references the time of these texts in her witness statement.

The receipts!!!!! I'm exposing Am, she made the receipts and they look wonderful but you don't wanna know how long she spent making the Kwik-Trip receipt look as accurate as possible lmao. But it does! It looks incredible. It also holds one of my favourite ghost text moments lol.

And finally! Our first radio transcript! I had volunteered to write some of the transcripts, but Am is just too good at capturing character voice, and I'm glad she was willing to write them in the end. I just went through with a few grammatical edits. I will say, I learned a week or so ago that the ghost types are supposed to be capitalized.... which seems wrong to me. So they're all common nouns in our fic. I'm not sorry. I love the cutoff point for this transcript—in such a dark fic, the '"I'm going to chuck it at you." (Laughing) "You'd miss."' felt like the perfect place to cut the transcript and bring in a bit of that nervous happiness that comes when you're reading a tragedy. The dramatic irony of knowing the characters are going to die and all that.

Ah the witness statements! The first section so far that I've actually written lol. Scar's was the most painful because my method was to just tune into a stream, but when I tuned into Scar's he was in a very compelling frozen pickle discussion which turned into an anti-AI rant, so I couldn't just ignore what he was saying and write. Instead I spent half an hour actually invested in his stream before I could get anything done. Scar's witness statement is pretty useless from the detectives' PoV, but what can ya do?

The journal was really funny, I threw it together super fast. I'm very happy with Skizz's little doodle of their new outfits, it's just fun and cute. Adds a bit of lightness to combat the fic's weight.

We debated over who was the one to report the incident. Generally we wanted it to be an Emperor, and I mainly decided Scott because his witness statement would be easy to write (I understand his voice) and he's played Phasmo before. Skizz's ghost text is perfect lmao I love it. Absolutely something he'd say.

From Gem's witness statement I wanted to give readers the takeaway that Gem put in the work to figure out the timeline of what happened. The transition from her saying the ghost probably killed them to the transcript wherein the ghost kills them is... chef's kiss.

Boo! appearing image! That one's so fun to find. Back in July or August or so, I actually spent like 12 hours making my own copies of the UV prints by extracting them from the game because I needed them for a Powerpoint night, but I deleted them afterwards because why would I ever need those? The image you see in the fic was found on the internet. I'm disappointed in myself lol. The blood splatter was also a really cool detail that I love! I also found that one on the internet... but why reinvent the wheel, I suppose? The ghost text during hunts! Yes details! Am really brought my worldbuilding from the therapy journal to life with the ghost's hidden text moments. Impulse's scream there is from his Hermitcraft s9, when he was just chilling in his storage room and Pearl jumpscared him. The death sound is from the stream where they taught Pearl and Oli how to play.

I wrote the therapy journal in a few sittings because I kept hitting points where I just didn't know where to take it. I was, of course, trying to write from the point of view of a man in the mental hospital for a reason, but his problems were less intense before the doctors tried to step in. The character is based on Francis Delilez, who did murder his brother-in-law and referred to the voices compelling him as 'demoniacs.' His book is linked after the article, and I used it as a very influential source when writing any of the historical lore. My general concept for his treatment was that the medicine gives him a Hels; when medicated, he believes the pain (headache) grounds him to his body and lessens the delusions. His suicide attempt is an attempt to tether himself more, gone wrong.

Grian's statement is the most thorough and informative, giving detectives a rough idea of the events leading up to the deaths. I wanted to be more specific about their system, but Skizz likes to switch it up to mess with Impulse so I really couldn't make blanket statements like "Skizz takes the basement and Impulse takes the first floor."

The detectives were a rather last minute addition in the grand scheme of things! We didn't really plan their strong presence from the beginning, but realized they were necessary in order to move the plot forward (and also obstruct the plot lol). Frank Columbo, the experienced and collected detective, is of course a reference to the titular character of the show Columbo. John Dalton, the spooked newbie, is a reference to Jack Dalton from the original MacGyver, a character always getting himself into awkward and deadly scrapes.

Tango's statement was hard to write simply because he wouldn't actually know anything useful, but I wanted so badly for him to have information. Oh well. He's the one who identified and explained equipment from the evidence collection for the detectives.

The evidence images took so long to collect. I needed a picture of the objectives—the ghost event one was supposed to be "escape a ghost hunt" but the other two were what we intended, so once I got those objectives I decided to settle for that screenshot lol. Am had written some descriptions before I started trying for the pictures, so I had some guidance. The candles being next to the crucifix was easy enough, as was a random picture of the door to the padded room (framed like an interaction photo). I couldn't force the ghosts to be in the correct room, unfortunately, so the photos are mostly from other rooms. The ghost photo is notably from the entryway—and didn't glitch as much as I'd wanted it to, so I threw it into my photo editor and added some aftereffects and such for a better effect. The first time I tried to get a ghost photo, I got 3 stars but discovered the ghost had been a phantom. The Worst Luck lmao. The Employee of the Month certificate is absolutely perfect—it's in the evidence section because it was supposedly on the wall of the truck, but of course I can't fake that in-game. Paul Tergyst, their boss, is a play on poltergeist. I also have to say that getting a monkey paw photo was AWFUL. I'd show up and the cursed object would be missing? And after like ten attempts I found they were just glitched into the floor. I had to go to every spot and try to pull the cursed object out of the floor, and then it took so long to actually get the monkey paw (had to do a custom level that just gave me the monkey paw). Skizz's death scream is unfortunately a bit cut off because someone else started talking as his second scream ended, and I had to edit that out. I really don't remember which stream that's from and I didn't label the file :/

I loved Joker's statement! I managed to tune into the end of one of Joker's streams (it was late at night) and oh how I've missed him playing Phasmo honestly. I'm so glad he finally returned to the Phasmobros recently! Please oh please I want another JITS reunion stream so bad now that Jokes is feeling better.

Ah, the article. The Article. This took me so long, I wrote it in one sitting referencing Delilez' book constantly. It's a 1.6k essay on real things that happened at the Northern Wisconsin Hospital in Winnebago, WI. I changed the city and name, and we added MCYT characters, but the facts in the article are all true to real life unfortunately. The ghost's name, James Norfolk, is a reference to the Norfolk hospital, the medical records of which I used to create James' files. Pneumonia was the most common reported cause of death for males at the Norfolk hospital during the year of his fictional death.

The Google search histories were just fun little ways to show poor John's descent into paranoia and terror. The code for these sections is so incredibly finicky, really just awful. Broke every time we tried to make an edit to the draft. Personally I'm a fan of "escort hiring near me" -> "escort security hiring near me -sex"

The interview with Grian is so fun. Here is a man who knows exactly what happened and how to resolve the case. And here are two men who are going to do everything possible to stop him from doing that. Now make them talk. The officers lying to Grian about evidence was absolutely perfect to raise the tension and further the scene. Dalton cracking first out of desperation is such beautiful characterization—the loaded exchange between him and Columbo at that point is perfect. I do have to mention that, while I in no way coded the CSS or HTML, I formatted this transcript (via copy-paste) and adding timestamps was the bane of my existence the whole time. I had to consider how slowly people talk, how much empty space there is between statements... awful!

I just have to point out that the kids ribbing each other in the gc sounds so real and organic!!!

The big meaty action-scene transcript! The poor detectives think they're being clever. The jinn slows its LoS speedup because Impulse and Skizz turn off the breaker from beyond—while dead players can't manipulate the breaker, it can be turned on an off during a hunt by a living player, so we nixed the first mechanic in favour of the second. I played a couple rounds to test this. I died the first time, oops (it was dark and I walked into the ghost...) but the second time I made it to the breaker downstairs in Sunny Meadows. I turned it on as the ghost rounded the corner, turned it off knowing I was cornered, and the ghost changed speeds. Somehow I managed to get a jinn while testing a theoretical jinn mechanic?? I won't question the universe I guess, just a very strange coincidence. In the meantime, Grian's "I hope this works" is him guessing jinn and leaving. The mechanic we went for was that dead players revive when the living players drive off with the correct ghost type identified.

The reunion gc is just fun, them razzing the dads because of course. We also throw readers a bone if they haven't yet found out about the ghost text by showing it off via Impulse and Skizz's texts.
