In Need For Speed (2015) dominieren Drift Events in der Bergwelt von Ventura Bay. Aber auch einige City Rennen erfordern Drift Fähigkeiten bei harten Abbiegungen, insbesondere bei Gymkhana Events.  

Ist ein Wagen für Drift im Setup gut eingerichtet (Stichworte Reifendruck, Reifenart, Fahrwerk, Handbremseneinstellungen uvm.), dann kann es losgehen. Beim Start liegt man den ca. 5 K.I. Mitstreitern etwas zurück und muss schnell aufholen. Denn fällt man von der Gruppe zu weit ab, dann funktioniert eine Punktevergabe für Kurvendrifts nicht. Wenn man hingegen nahe am Ende der Gruppe mitfährt, werden Driftpunkte vergeben.

Mögliche Schwierigkeit: es kommen NPC Wagen in den Kurven entgegen oder andere aktive Onlineracer (APC's), die auch diese Strecke verwenden. Folge bei einer Kollision in der Kurve: man verliert den Anschluss an die Gruppe und erhält zunächst keine Punkte, bis man wieder weit genug aufgeholt hat. Der Punktestand der Konkurrenz wird manchmal (je nach Drift Event), der eigene immer im Interface angezeigt. Meist ist auch eine Mindestpunktzahl angegeben, die man beim Ende des Rennens erreichen muss. Oft kommt auch die Erschwerung hinzu, dass nach einen guten Drift keine Kollision mit dem Fahrbahnrand oder anderen Autos erfolgen darf. Dann werden die möglichen Punkte ungültig und nicht gutgeschrieben.

Fährt man im Feld der anderen, versuchen die Gegner den eigenen Wagen auszubremsen oder abzudrängeln. Vor Kurven verliert man so Geschwindigkeit und die Driftpunkte sind geringer. Zuweilen fährt die Gruppe sehr langsam, dass verführt dazu die Führung zu übernehmen. Ist man aber ganz vorne, dann bekommt man keine Punkte, oder?

Wichtiges Fahrverhalten: von Kurven möglichst hohe Geschwindigkeit generieren, beim Einlenken ggf. die Handbremse oder mit kurzen Druck auf die Bremse den Wagen dazu zu bringen, dass sein Heck hinten ausbricht und das „Querfahren“ eingeleitet wird. Ggf. auch noch etwas Nitro hinzufügen, um die Driftdauer etwas zu verlängern.
