Futari Wa/We Are Pretty Cure Review (Ep. 27-49)

Hello my name is BJ short for blue Jay and welcome back to the birdhouse blog where I'm currently on the Castlevania nocturne brain rot but am soon settling down and going back to another hyper fixation that is magical girls.

I have finally finished the last 22 episodes of Futari Wah Pretty Cure and I have a lot to say, and when I mean by that I mean I have a lot of great things to say about this show because as I stated in my last review post I had a blast and can't wait to continue my journey with the pretty cure series.

🤍Story🖤

Pros:

I enjoy the final 22 episodes of the show, the filler episodes are light-hearted and emotional, while the main story episodes tug on your heartstrings and non-stop action. We get to learn new information such as the power of annihilation which is the opposite of the power of creation that the prism stones hold. I like how the power of annihilation and the power of creation are two powerful forces of nature that can bend from the user's resolve. The power of annihilation is nothing more than just instant destruction whereas if anyone holds the power of creation whether their intentions are good or bad, it can shape the fabric of reality itself. It gives the precure a much-needed reason to protect the prism stones especially since it's sprinkled throughout the show why the dark king needed the power of creation so badly, especially considering that the power of annihilation is something he can't control.

Cons:

My only real complaint when it comes to the story is how much the writers need to drag the plot for the Dark Warrior's search for the power of creation. Even though the writers are dragging the mystery of where the power of creation is being held, it kind of gets boring and it just makes the villains feel a bit incompetent, especially since we already know that Pollum is the one who holds the power creation.

It took them 10-13 episodes to figure out Pollum bared the power of creation.

🤍Characters🖤

As always the supporting cast of characters such as Honoka and Nagisa's families are wholesome, and their storylines help elevate not only the filler episodes but also the main story. This also can be said for the supporting cast at Verona Academy as they too have their story-focused episodes that are callbacks from the last 26 episodes at the beginning of the season.

Honoka and Nagisa have a lot of character development throughout the show. It showed that their friendship is very palpable and that they rely on each other very much, especially through the trials and tribulations they face being the protectors of the realm of light.

You get to see Nagisa as she still struggles to want a normal life and not focus on risking her life every day, and then you have Honoka similarly also has these struggles but to her, it's the fact that she's still can't let go of the pain she felt when Kiriya sacrificed himself to protect them, meaning that she doesn't want his sacrifice nor for her sacrifices to protect the realm of light and their home town not be in vain.

Episode 42 is one of my favorite episodes of this season, not only because of the emotional impact of the girls being separated, but because it truly shows how much Nagisa relies on Honoka. Honoka is the emotional support, a shoulder to cry on through difficult times. In contrast, Honoka sees Nagisa as her inner strength the courage she wants to display, the motivation that helps her to fight. This episode truly amplifies what makes the pretty cure for who they are, brave and beautiful souls who protect one another and want to protect others through sheer willpower, compassion, and determination no matter the odds.

New Characters Pros:

The new characters we have are the Dark Warriors and Prince Pollum. Prince Pollum is another marketable plushy for the cures to get a new power-up, the rainbow bracelet. Shockingly I like pollum. While pollum can be annoying at times especially when he runs away like every two to three episodes, what makes him stand out from the other two marketable plushies mepple and mipple is his journey of facing his fears. Polum out of the three marketable plushies is a young kid who has a lot of responsibilities on his shoulders, he just wants to have fun and be with the pretty cure, but once he finds out that he is the one holding the power of creation once hopish was taken hostage by the dark warriors, he soon goes through a shockingly interesting character arc of him wanting to help others and setting aside his worries to help the pretty cure go up against the dark warriors and the dark king.

Cons:

One major flaw of Futari Wa as a whole is its villains. While the villains show through feats of strength and how threatening they are as an antagonistic force, they lack some personal growth or goal to help establish them as interesting characters. The three dark warriors Juno, Regena, and Belzay, while powerful, kind of feel like blatant character tropes that don't develop too much. Besides wanting to separate themselves from the dark king because they don't want to serve him for all eternity once he gets the power of creation, we don't see them struggle with this idea way too much. Especially considering that they are the reincarnations of the dark King's power so it's really difficult to root for them.

🤍Animation🖤

The animation was good as always, both the combat scenes and mundane activities for each episode don’t feel stiff or exaggerated. I adore the background imagery of the cityscape when the cures go about their daily activities.

🤍Final Episode🖤

I am not gonna lie, the final episode almost made me ball my eyes out. It was a great way to conclude the show with Honoka and Nagisa saving the world with the power of friendship, and magic, and throwing hands against the embodiment of darkness that was Dark King. Even Kiriya, who I thought passed away came back after he traveled through the space of light and darkness (just roll with it) to help lend his support to the cures.

I can talk about the bittersweet ending to the show but I'm just going to leave a link to my reaction for the finale here.

💗Conclusion🌈

Overall, not much of my opinion has changed since my last review. I had a blast watching the original Futari Wa Pretty Cure. The characters are great, the story is simple but engaging, and the fights are stellar.

I can’t wait to continue my Precure journey in the series to watch in the future, as I am currently watching Kimi to Idol Precure. Right now, I will hold off from watching Max Heart as I want to venture in other Precure shows that catch my interest (Smile, Doki Doki, Tropical Rouge, Sky and Wonderful to just name of few I’m interested in watching).

I give Futari Wa/We Are Pretty Cure a solid 8/10!

The cult of...Danny Fenton?

So! Way back when Danny first moved into his new neighborhood in Gotham, he had some trouble controlling his Powers. The different Types and Levels of Ectoplasm in the air when compared to Amity had thrown off his control.

He was used to being in places where his Ectoplasm meshed well with the Atmosphere, like a Water Balloon in a Pool, but in Gotham that analogy would be closer to a Water Balloon in the sewers. It was too different from what he was used to to fully control his Powers.

So it's understandable that he messed up a few times and his neighbors found out about his Abilities.

They took it well at first, Danny wasn't going to go Rogues or anything, and he never used them maliciously, but eventually they got curious.

They asked what his limits were, how he got them in the first place, and what the hell the Ghost Zone was. The answers "None Really", "I died and was reborn", and "A Collective of every Afterlife at once" did spark some interesting reactions from them.

Most importantly, a few of them joked about him being an Eldritch God that they needed to worship. He was good enough friends with them that at that point they felt comfortable pranking eachother, so they did just that.

Danny woke up one day on his birthday, and saw all of his friends and neighbors surrounding the makeshift Throne they had made and put him on while he was asleep. The entire day they chanted stuff like "The Great One requires Ms. Smiths Apple Pie for his day of birth!" And "The Great One Wishes for us to sing the Ritual Song! Happy Birthday to You! Happy Birth-"

After his birthday, they kept up the joke.

It didn't help that his powers had evolved Again! And now he could bestow abilities onto his friends. The jokes they made about their God granting them Supernatural Powers to rule the world with were insufferable.

Then, one day while he was just resting at home, watching a movie on his TV, he felt a Pull at his Core. The same kind of Pull whenever he was being summoned. But why would they summon hi- Oh Shit! It's Mr Jenkins Party today! He was supposed to meet them at the Warehouse they used for special events an Hour Ago!

He quickly accepted the Summoning, but was met with a suprising sight. His Neighbors all tied up in a pile to his right, a spilled table of party food to his left, and right in front of him, Batman and his Family watching him with wary eyes.

Slowly, he opened his mouth. "...so, did you come for the party or..."

The funny thing about the PJO cabin system is that everyone's always all 'oh the twelve' this and 'the twelve' that but that's absolutely not even remotely accurate. To start, right off the bat it's thirteen, not twelve, because they don't count Hades. But not really because before Percy, there were no big three kids, so we're down to ten active cabins already but it's actually eight because Artemis and Hera don't make demigods.

And of those eight, Mr. D is stuck at camp (thus not really making new demigods all that often) and his only two kids don't even sleep in a cabin, they sleep in the Big House with him.

So, pre-Percy, there are seven active cabins at Camp Half-Blood:

Glee club, the Jocks, the Nerds, the Geeks, the Farmers, the 'Sketchy Kids' and the Popular Kids.

Or, in other words, the Apollo, Ares, Athena, Hephaestus, Demeter, Hermes (and the unclaimed kids) and Aphrodite cabins.

What's cool is that you can already see the cabin dynamics in the show. For example, the Athena cabin allies with the Hermes cabin for the numbers. The Hermes kids plus all the unclaimed kids? It's the biggest cabin in the camp by far. It's a battle strategy. Luke and Annabeth's close relationship is just the cherry on top for Annabeth. It'll be really cool to see how the show develops the differences in the cabins during the series.
