the generative noise reduction artifact experiments that people call "AI Art" were not initially a collage machine, but grew closer to one over time as demands for accuracy and beautiful convincing results without any extra interactions were heeded. overfitting has gotten easier to do accidentally as models have focused more on using smaller datasets efficiently after running into the ceiling of "oops, that's all the data on earth." of course it still can't point you towards the parts of its training data that it "used" because all of it is already in the bread, its just a shit image search now.

✨ Your first mistake is thinking that he helps his s/o.(/j) Richtofen also has AuDHD and his aggressive hyperactivity would either encourage his s/o to be the same way or overstimulate them severely.
✨ If his s/o was medicated for their ADHD, he would happily support them by making sure they take their medicine, but he wouldn’t exactly be too fussed if they chose not to go down the medication route.
✨ Richtofen could listen to his s/o talk for hours, which he probably has done before without saying a word. When his s/o loses their train of thought, he’ll help them find their place again— If he’s able to remember.
✨ If not, Richtofen will ask a question he thinks is related just so he can listen to his s/o talk more.
✨ Richtofen will bug his s/o. Tapping them, poking them, waking them up just as they nod off. It’s all on the table. Richtofen knows it’s overstimulating sometimes and that’s why he does it, he’s a menace and that’s how he shows his love.
✨ He will make a point of doing his best to remember his s/o’s special interests and will ask questions about them if he has any.
✨ If his s/o needs any accommodations like noise reduction or fidget toys, he is more than happy to provide them!! He likely has some fidget toys of his own that he lends them.
✨ Richtofen sticks to a routine, and if his s/o has one, he helps them stick to theirs as well, it’s a way of bonding that isn’t just irritating them.
✨ Given his time served in the war, Richtofen knows some breathing exercises and will employ them to help calm his s/o if everything is too much.
✨ Rather than parallel play, Richtofen will prefer to just be in the presence of his s/o, even if he’s not doing anything while they are. If he’s working, he also likes his s/o to just be near by.
✨ when noticing his s/o is masking around him- And he does notice, he will call it out and laugh in a teasing way. Pointing it out will make his s/o drop their mask and laugh with him, meaning they’re comfortable around him.
✨ If his s/o and him have any shared interests, their down time is filled with interacting with those interests for as long as they’re allowed. He loves enthusing with them about shared passions.
✨ Richtofen is prone to getting defensive if someone is judging his s/o for their AUDHD traits. He will speak up for them and defend them with all he has until his s/o has to drag him away from the confrontation lest it turn into a fight.

"I think we have to say first and foremost that there is zero evidence whatsoever that anything to do with the FAA's efforts to hire people of diverse backgrounds, people with disabilities, had anything to do with this tragedy.

First of all, at that press conference, president Trump read out a sentence from the Biden-era FAA website about the FAA's desire to hire people with so-called targeted disabilities. Those are significant disabilities like psychiatric and intellectual issues, paralysis, missing extremities, and so on. What he did not mention was that that exact language was on the FAA website under president Trump the entirety of his own administration. We grabbed a screenshot from December 2020 late in his first term, so this was not something Biden invented. In fact, it's been on that website at least since 2013."

"No. 2, this was not just language on a Trump-era website," Dale added. "In fact, in 2019, under president Trump, the FAA launched a pilot program specifically to hire people with these so-called targeted disabilities – intellectual, psychiatric, etc, in air traffic control roles, so they emphasized at the time, these people would have to meet all criteria in terms of medical criteria, qualifications, security criteria. But regardless, this was not something the Biden administration invented, as he suggested."

aww thats swell! hope you got to make many warm and kind memories with your boyfriend!
ive been okay recently, just moseying along, trying to find work (i trained as a peer support worker last year and finished up my practicum early this year). i had a question regarding voice acting; im in no way a va but i thought it'd be fun to apply for the posting i sent your way. itd be cool to pick up a high school hobby (of general drama/acting), and i can tell myself i tried!
only issue is i have no idea what program to use to record. my friend whos more into audio tech and programming in general looked up reaper and ive been wrestling with it with off and on again success haha. friend is really knowledgeable about the technical side of audio and music, but as someone with literally a blank slate experience, im finding myself overwhelmed by the technical aspects. would you happen to have any insight on where i can look for tutorials/advice/beginner voice recording stuff?

oh yeah va has been a very fun hobby to do (i've been doing va as a hobby since high school myself haha but was Very shy about it because 'serious student persona'), so it's definitely worth giving a shot at least once!
i know reaper has a biiiig learning curve and i know eventually i also want to learn how to make use of that since it sounds like it has way more functions, but i personally use audacity because it's a pretty simple program that's overall pretty straightforward to use! there's a lot of functions that can be overwhelming but my main go tos is the noise reduction (to clean out the background noise by sampling 2 seconds of silence in your recording before clearing from the rest), compression (which stabilizes the volume of all the audio), and then normalize (to help with volume control).
i'm also not super well versed on the technical side of audio recording, but at the very least with voice acting and all, it really is just a hobby that you just have to do. so auditioning for gb patch's casting call is one way of doing that! and if not that, then just record yourself reading as characters you like and whatnot. like ik pretty early on with vaing i was just doing random voices as characters while i wasplaying danganronpa. so things like that :'D
hopefully that kinda answers some questions for voice recording but :'>
oh also warm up your voice before you do it. don't strain your voice and figure out what's the most comfortable for you when it comes to voicing.

I think there's a certain type of person - I guess the ones who get all their information about "neurodivergence" through social media - who just kind of need to be told: Hey, the reason why people express doubt about you claiming to be autistic is not because autism has been "stereotyped" as this screaming non-verbal head-banging nursery rhyme and train obsessed young boy archetype (whom I'm sure you are probably very passionate about advocating for), it's because the diagnostic category of autism has widened and broadened so much in the latest years both within psychiatry but especially within pop psychology social media spaces that the image of autism you have been presented with is completely unrecognizable from the image of autism a lot of people have grown up with. This cannot be explained away with vague gestures towards "stereotyping" or "it's a spectrum", it's only a spectrum because some psychiatrists decided to pair a bunch of traits they saw occurring together under the same label but then sometimes they would occur with other traits and the chain just gets so long and the edges so far from each other, no single core to consistently unite all of it. And that's one thing but a lot of the things held up as "autism traits" on TikTok or Instagram infographics are just completely ordinary and trivial things. I've seen posts saying that being sensitive to conflict, scared of horror movies, having hobbies and interests, having strong moral beliefs, fidgeting (no reference to extent of fidgeting) and enjoying saying funny noises are all signs of autism and I just. A lot of the stuff I see is also just responding with stress to stressful situations, getting overwhelmed from socializing for a long time, struggling to balance home and work-life balance (this one was presented as a trait in autistic women hmm, I wonder why women specifically would struggle more to hold both a job and keep a household in order) and I think a problem is that a lot of people genuinely don't know that other people are also really fucking struggling because it's not visible most of the time, just as your suffering is not visible to others because you are "masking". I get that it feels good to get a label that kind of acknowledges and validates your suffering but there are other ways to do that, ways that don't make your suffering an essential part about who you are and encourages identity formation around it, it is also very likely that the people pushing for this broadening of the term are looking for customers to sell self-help to. It's a bit of a cliché to say that a lot of these problems are caused by capitalism but there is some truth to it, though it is reductive. A lot of people also just feel alienated because the way social dynamics are in many societies just are highly alienating, people interrogate and scrutinize each other's behavior all the time and everyone's hiding and performing so much and in a globalized ever accelerating neoliberal society, there are so many different kinds of constantly disrupting social spaces people find themselves in all the time, so many new forms of labor that require high degrees of emotional regulation and intuitiveness, and constant new norms being generated, no wonder more and more people feel like they "don't understand social norms". (This post is not an attack on any person who identifies as autistic or has low support needs though I am highly critical of the ontology of the diagnosis, it can be relevant to some people. You decide whether or not this post applies to you.)

Given this platform's recent intent to sell user data to generative AI companies, we had to put a lot of consideration into deleting this blog.
We're not going to. Yet.
To be clear, it has been and will always remain the position of the Voice of Dog that nothing of what we feature on the show is AI-generated. Submitted stories must be in your own words, which absolutely rules out AI, and we reserve the right to deny or remove a story if we have reason to believe AI--or any other means of plagiarism--has been used to make it. All the stories are by real members of the furry community. Any images are by actual artists, even if only on a let-me-ask-if-my-boyfriend-will-draw-that basis, as is tradition. The closest an AI will ever get to anything you hear from us is the spell-check in someone's word processor or the noise-reduction filter in someone's audio editing software.
We have zero confidence that the opt-out in the blog settings will be respected, especially given reports that Tumblr's intended enforcement mechanism is the honor system. This will stop nothing.

Not one word. Not one pixel. Not one second of audio.
One factor in this has been that we don't anticipate that anything they take from us--and we expect they will, again, we have zero confidence that the opt-out will be in any way respected either by Tumblr or the companies they sell user data to--will actually be useful. Our episodes are not embedded. What will they get? The "today's story is-" intros, some promotion of author's other works, and URLs to where episodes can be listened to. None of that data is useful.
Another factor is that, if they want to copy and plagiarize our work, they don't need Tumblr's help to do it. The only way to keep them from copying the stories we tell would be to not tell stories, which is not an option and will never be an option. This does not constitute consent! The act of plagiarism is and remains reprehensible, but it is not on us to prevent you from practicing it against us. The fact we cannot realistically stop a plagiarist makes them more culpable, not less.

Tamaki fights plans to build SDF training site in Okinawa

NAHA--Okinawa Governor Denny Tamaki called on Defense Minister Minoru Kihara to retract plans to build a Self-Defense Force training site in his prefecture as the central government moves to bolster defenses in the nation’s southwestern islands.
“We cannot agree with the project,” Tamaki told Kihara at the Okinawa prefectural government office here Feb. 17 during a meeting that lasted less than 30 minutes. “We want the government to take the plan back to the drawing board and review it.”
The Defense Buildup Program, one of the three national security documents the government adopted in 2022, calls for enhancing SDF capabilities in southwestern Japan, centered around Okinawa Prefecture, due to China’s growing presence in the East China Sea.
The document said the Ground SDF’s 15th Brigade, which is based in Naha and comprises around 2,000 members, will be reorganized into a division.
The GSDF plans to open a new training ground in Uruma, Okinawa Prefecture, to handle the range of exercises required for the expanded division.
“In the face of the most severe and complicated security environment Japan has faced after World War II, we can lose no time in drastically reinforcing our defense capabilities based on the three national security documents,” Kihara told Tamaki during the meeting.
The proposed training site lies next to a residential area.
Residents are concerned about noise issues and the potential for accidents. Neighborhood community associations had already called for scrapping the project.
The meeting with Kihara marked the first time for Tamaki to publicly express his opposition to the project.
“The government has been hastily pressing everything forward particularly after it published the three security documents,” Tamaki told reporters after the meeting. “Anxiety among many prefectural residents is only growing, not subsiding.”
Before his meeting with Tamaki, Kihara sat down for talks with the heads of 11 municipalities in Okinawa Prefecture that host U.S. military bases.
Uruma Mayor Masato Nakamura told Kihara, “We want the central government to take the voices of local residents seriously and give careful consideration to the issue.”
Tamaki and Kihara also remained far apart over the project to relocate the U.S. Marine Corp Air Station Futenma in Ginowan, Okinawa Prefecture, to Nago, also in the prefecture.
While Tamaki renewed his call for suspending reclamation work, Kihara stressed that the government would forge ahead with the divisive project.
The Defense Ministry started reclamation work in Oura Bay north of Henoko Point in Nago in January after land minister Tetsuo Saito approved design changes by proxy the previous month, overriding Tamaki’s refusal to sign off on the modifications.
During the meeting, Tamaki called for convening a session of the Futenma air station burden reduction promotion council, which would bring together Kihara, Tamaki, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi, Ginowan Mayor Masanori Matsugawa and others.
The meeting was last held five years ago.
But Kihara said working-level officials will discuss the issue at a working group under the council.
“We renewed our determination to produce solid results toward reducing Okinawa’s base burden and drastically reinforcing defense capabilities in the southwestern region,” Kihara told reporters after the meeting.
Kihara’s visit was his first to Okinawa’s main island since taking office in September, which is exceptionally overdue for a newly appointed defense minister.
He visited Miyakojima and Ishigakijima, two islands in Okinawa Prefecture, in September to inspect GSDF units deployed at camps that opened in 2019 and March 2023, respectively.
Kihara met with Tamaki, who has consistently called for easing the U.S. bases burden borne by his prefecture, for the first time at the Defense Ministry in Tokyo in January.

Quantum convolutional neural networks for feature processing

Quantum convolutional neural networks improve picture categorisation and feature processing.
Scientists have developed a novel quantum convolutional neural network (QCNN) technology that could improve picture categorisation efficiency and accuracy. Quantum physics is used to solve challenging pattern recognition issues that challenge conventional computer methods.
This study is led by Shaswata Mahernob Sarkar, Sheikh Iftekhar Ahmed, and colleagues from the University of Rochester and Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology. One of the best On3 scale model train dioramas with Shay, Climax and Heisler steam locomotives
Jul 6, 2025 There is a special type of steam locomotive, the so-called geared steam locomotive. The steam locomotive, as commonly employed, has its pistons directly attached to cranks on the driving wheels; thus, there is no gearing. A geared steam locomotive which uses gearing, usually reduction gearing, in the drivetrain, as opposed to the common directly driven design. This gearing is part of the machinery within the locomotive and should not be confused with the pinion that propels a rack locomotive along the rack between the rails.
Well-known geared steam locomotives are the Shay locomotive, the Climax locomotive and the Heisler locomotive. The Shay locomotive features an offset boiler with a multiple-cylinder engine affixed to it on the opposite side, driving a longitudinal shaft geared to the axles via bevel gears. The Climax locomotive has two inclined cylinders driving a transverse crankshaft, geared to a longitudinal driveshaft placed centrally on the locomotive and driving the powered trucks via internal gearing. The Heisler locomotive has one cylinder each side of the boiler, affixed to a centrally located longitudinal driveshaft, again geared to the wheels.
René Paul, a railway enthusiast and model builder from the Netherlands, was so fascinated by these special steam locomotives that he constructed a wonderful model train diorama. The model railroad layout depicts a typical American railroad junction in a small town. The miniature world was constructed in On3 scale (1/48 scale) as a shunting layout for sorting and shunting goods wagons with the help of these impressive geared steam locomotives. The model railway layout is 2.85 meters long and 0.60 meters wide. All rail and turnouts are hand built. There are no kits. There are no prefabricated buildings. The attention to detail is sensational, for example, four nails are placed in each sleeper.
In the foreground is the continuous track from which a turnout branches off. This serves two warehouses with sidings on the left-hand side of the model train layout. Opposite, i.e. on the right-hand side of the model railroad layout, is an engine shed for the narrow-gauge locomotives with a workshop and with the necessary facilities for maintaining the rolling stock. The model train diorama was filmed at a large model railroad exhibition in Luxembourg. Because there were too many noises from visitors, Pilentum Television dubbed the video with authentic sounds.
