🎓𝑨𝒔 𝒊𝒔 𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒅𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏, Harry and Meghan were *𝑵𝑶𝑻* amongst the lineup of celebrity commencement speakers this year 🎓 Dear Sinners,Another graduation season has come and gone 🎓 And once again, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were missing from the lineup of notable 2024 commencement speakers. If I remember correctly, the only so-called "graduation speech" Meghan has given was this bizarre unsolicited "graduation speech" she released to the media in 2020 👀Here's a list of some of H&M's "famous friends" who have given commencement speeches over the years. TIL that like Meghan, Kathryn is a Northwestern alumni. This year, Kathryn gave the commencement speech at Northwestern University. Northwestern also gave Kathryn, along with three other accomplished alumni [*not* named Meghan Markle], honorary Doctor of Arts degrees👉 Why hasn't Northwestern invited Meghan Markle to give a commencement speech?👉 Why hasn't Northwestern given Meghan Markle an honorary degree? 📌 Notes:In 2020, H&M signed with the esteemed NY-based Harry Walker Agency. Here is Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex's profile page. (I could not find a profile page for Harry.) This is the same high powered agency that also represents the Clintons, the Obamas, John Legend, and many others for speaking engagements. At the time, it was widely reported that H&M could charge up to $1M per speech!🤑 Where did all of H&M's dream$ of making million$ of dollar$ by giving word $alad $peeche$ go? 🤑 post link: https://ift.tt/PytGmjV author: SeptiemeSens submitted: July 03, 2024 at 02:35PM via SaintMeghanMarkle on Reddit disclaimer: all views + opinions expressed by the author of this post, as well as any comments and reblogs, are solely the author's own; they do not necessarily reflect the views of the administrator of this Tumblr blog. A Cinderella Story: Christmas Wish (2019)
I love the original Cinderella story with Hilary Duff and Chad Michael Murray, but I thought the rest that I had seen didn't quite live up (sorry Selena). Apparently what was missing was cheesy Christmas shenanigans because I am here for it with this one.
Our Cinderella is Kat Decker (Laura Marano), who will be 18 in 4 months, but until then she is stuck with the "steps," as she calls them. Wicked stepmother Dierdre (Johannah Newmarch), bitchy entitled step-sister Joy (Lillian Doucet-Roche), and dumb step-sister Grace (Chanelle Peloso). Idk if they meant it in the script, but there was almost a redemption arc with Grace. Almost. Anyway, our Prince Charming is one Dominic Wintergarden (Gregg Sulkin). His father Terry Wintergarden (Barclay Hope) throws a Christmas Eve gala every year, but we'll get there.
Kat and Dominic first meet when Kat is being harassed by the steps out shopping and Dominic is with his friends. Kat falls over and Joy's and Grace's Starbucks drinks that they were making Kat hold spilled all over her face. Dominic helped her up. Joy filmed it and Kat went viral. All of Dominic's friends are assholes about it, especially Skyler (Maddie Phillips), a bitchy girl who wants to be with Dominic, but he doesn't like her. Her bestie Ashley (Kiera Klassen) giggles the whole time, while Dominic's friends Jackson (Dejan Loyola) and Noah (Trezzo Mahoro) harass him about not being into Skyler.
Anyway, Kat heads to work at Santaland, where she is promptly scolded by her boss Mr. Mujiza (Garfield Wilson) because his only rules are to be on time and be in costume at all times. Side note- I watch everything with subtitles because I process things more easily visually than auditorily, and once when they said Mujiza, the caption said "McJesus" (captions being wrong is my favorite). Kat's bestie Isla (Isabella Gomez) is also an elf at Santaland, so she covers for Kat and just starts the show without her. While Kat is preparing, she meets the new Santa, who introduces himself as Nick (everybody can tell it's Dominic, come on). There is pretty instant sexual tension with Nick and Kat. Isla refers to him as "Sexy Santa." Isla is my favorite character. So between working as an elf, doing Christmas grams, being tortured by her steps, flirting with Nick, and protecting her dog Bruno from the steps, Kat is pretty busy. Dierdre wants to go to the Gala, and Grace tells her that Jason Decker (Kat's deceased father) was great friends with Mr. Wintergarden, so Dierdre in all her glory sends an email to him about Jason passing and how she and Kat live in the area and blah blah blah. Terry extends two invitations to the Gala, one for Dierdre and one for Kat. Dierdre cons the delivery boy out of a third one for Grace and decides to have Joy pretend to be Kat. But Nick gives real Kat an invitation of her own, so no harm no foul, right? Except Kat is the worst about being sneaky, Dierdre finds the invitation and the dress that Isla made for Kat. She couldn't risk the real Kat being there and ruining her plan to marry the very wealthy Mr. Wintergarden, now could she? So she burned Kat's invitation and Joy took the dress.
Kat finds out who Nick is, so she chickens out on telling him who she really is (remember the Starbucks incident?) but he finds out when he buys a Christmas gram from her to come over and meet his friends. Except his friends are horrible, Kat doesn't even tell him about the burnt invitation before she runs out yelling at him and crying. As she talks to Bruno later that night, she realizes she may have overreacted. Isla convinces her to sneak in dressed as an elf performer, which works, kind of... Dominic does a really great job of putting everyone in their place though. Like, he's not unattractive but I'm not into the baby face, but when he brings out the sass, I can almost get past it.
There's a lot of Christmas cheesiness, but I only had to pause once (when the steps are talking to Mr. Wintergarden). I really loved all of the nods to the original Disney movie of Cinderella (hair and dresses at the gala as one example). Kat's original Christmas song isn't bad, and I enjoyed her performance of it.
Overall, I give it 4 stars.

Bracketology 2020: Butler and San Diego State are No. 1 seeds. North Carolina is out
Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports
The NCAA’s mid-season bracket projection features some strange names on the top line and some notable programs missing from the field.
Before the season tipped off on Nov. 5, I posted a rather pedestrian preseason bracket projection complete with the usual caveat that it was an exercise in futility and that things would look completely different on Selection Sunday.
However, we are now roughly halfway between the start of the season and that date — Sunday, March 15 — and the field of 68 is already completely unrecognizable from the one I conjured up a little more than two months ago. For starters, a whopping 29 of the 68 teams in the projected bracket below are newcomers. OK ... that’s not all that unusual, as there were 28 changes between 2018’s preseason effort and the first projection of 2019. Instead, it’s some of the names, both missing and present, that provide this bracket’s shock value, particularly if you’ve been more focused on football’s championship chase up until this point.
Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports
Roy Williams, like many North Carolina fans, has had trouble watching the Tar Heels lately.
If you’re looking for the North Carolina Tar Heels (a preseason No. 3 seed) or the Cincinnati Bearcats (an NCAA Tournament team for nine seasons running), you’re going to be disappointed. Neither team is even close to the “under consideration” board at this moment, thanks to early struggles brought about by injury and the rules I’ve implemented to evaluate teams based on how the Selection Committee used the NET in 2019.
Note that the 73rd-ranked St. John’s Red Storm were the lowest-rated team in Selection Sunday 2019’s NET to earn an at-large bid. Balancing this guidance against the newness of the metric, I’m only considering teams in the NET Top 80 for at-large selection. In Monday’s NET (which I used to build the bracket), the Tar Heels ranked 101st and the Bearcats 88th, so they’re out. Other notables who missed the cut for today include the Iowa State Cyclones (81st), Pittsburgh Panthers (84th) and Syracuse Orange (87th).
But the struggles of these March mainstays have opened the door for some new names. The two most shocking are those of the Penn State Nittany Lions and Rutgers Scarlet Knights — a pair of woebegone programs who’s sudden resurgence helped boost the Big Ten’s current bid total to 10 (out of 14 teams). Remember that the old 16-team Big East set the record for most bids with 11 back in 2011.
The Nittany Lions are in position to reach the tournament in Pat Chambers’ ninth season, having last qualified in 2011 — Ed DeChellis’ eighth and final campaign in Happy Valley. Penn State’s last NCAA trip before that came in 2001 — when Jerry Dunn’s squad reached the Sweet Sixteen. Based on those dates, the Nittany Lions, currently 12-2 and projected as a No. 4 seed, are a year ahead of schedule!
Noah K. Murray-USA TODAY Sports
Consecutive wins over Wisconsin and in-state rival Seton Hall have Rutgers in this bracket projection and dreaming of more consequential hardware.
As for Penn State’s rivals from New Jersey, the Scarlet Knights are already 11-3 in Steve Pikiell’s fourth season — having won just 15, 15 and 14 games in the first three. Rutgers is a No. 7 seed in today’s bracket heading into tonight’s visit from ... Penn State. By the way, the Scarlet Knights last reached the NCAA Tournament in 1991 under current TV commentator Bob Wenzel. That’s 29 years and six head coaches ago!
Naturally, the top of today’s projection was not immune from the general oddness of the 2019-20 season so far. Sure, the Kansas Jayhawks, a No. 1 seed back in November, and the Duke Blue Devils, found on seed line No. 2 two months ago, make up half of today’s top seed line. But back then it was nearly impossible to predict that the Butler Bulldogs, an 11th-seeded First Four participant, and the San Diego State Aztecs, completely absent from the preseason bracket, would make up the other half. Oddly enough, the Florida Gators, a November top seed, for all intents and purposes replaced Butler in this bracket’s First Four. As for the Kentucky Wildcats, November’s fourth No. 1, they’re on seed line No. 8 today after a non-conference season that saw them defeat preseason No. 1 Michigan State Spartans on Opening Night, then lose to the Evansville Purple Aces a week later. While John Calipari’s team managed to defeat the Louisville Cardinals at home before the start of SEC play, losses in Las Vegas to the Utah Utes and Ohio State Buckeyes hurt their profile a bit.
Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports
Saturday’s home win over archrival Virginia Tech kept 2019’s National Champions in today’s bracket.
You will also likely be surprised by the placement of 2019’s National Champion, the Virginia Cavaliers. They’re on the 11 line, thanks in part to some offensive struggles that are damaging their metrics, but also thanks to a lack of quality wins early on. The Cavaliers don’t yet own a single Quad 1 victory and they’ve yet to play a team ranked higher than 48th in the NET (the Purdue Boilermakers).
So without further delay, here’s today’s full bracket and rundown. Asterisks (*) mark new entrants, while arrows indicate whether a returning team’s seed rose or fell. The full seed list is available on Blogging the Bracket.

Bracket Notes
I’ve been doing this for a long time (2010 was my first season with SB Nation, for reference) and I cannot think of a bracket projection with so many potentially explosive first and second round matchups.
Rematches feature heavily in this bracket’s projected top-two Elite Eight matchups. Saturday’s twin bill would likely start with a Big 12/Big East Battle rematch between Butler and Baylor in Indianapolis and close with an all-Pacific timezone matchup in the West between San Diego State and Gonzaga. Sunday’s doubleheader would undoubtedly begin with a rematch of Kansas and Auburn’s 2019 Round of 32 matchup in Houston and end with yet another Duke-Michigan State showdown in New York — the third in the span of a little more than a year.
Due to variance in early conference scheduling, there are some surprise auto bid holders in this field, with negative repercussions for those leagues’ seeding. By virtue of their win over the Penn Quakers in the Ivy League’s first game of the year, the 5-8 Princeton Tigers represent the conference today instead of the Yale Bulldogs or Harvard Crimson. In the WAC, the Kansas City Roos (formerly UMKC) are 2-0 after the first week of play, one win better than the conference’s perennial champs, the 1-0 New Mexico State Aggies. Then there are the Vermont Catamounts, the lone America East team yet to begin conference play — that means the conference’s highest-ranked entry in the NET sits this one out. Note that early idiosyncrasies are a taste of the surprises that await during Selection Week.
Note that since the Idaho Vandals host Spokane’s First and Second Round pods and the Horizon League and IUPUI Jaguars are responsible for the Midwest Regional in Indianapolis, both Gonzaga and Butler can play quasi-home games this March. However, since the Houston Cougars serve as one of the South’s hosts, they must be placed in a different region entirely. Similarly, the Creighton Bluejays cannot play in Omaha for the first weekend.
Can the Big Ten really account for a full quarter of this season’s at-large teams? Will the ACC only place a quartet in the field of 68? On Friday, I’ll be back with more details on where each of the multi-bid conference stand with a little more than two months before Selection Sunday.

TIL that like Meghan, Kathryn is a Northwestern alumni. This year, Kathryn gave the commencement speech at Northwestern University. Northwestern also gave Kathryn, along with three other accomplished alumni [*not* named Meghan Markle], honorary Doctor of Arts degrees
👉 Why hasn't Northwestern invited Meghan Markle to give a commencement speech?
👉 Why hasn't Northwestern given Meghan Markle an honorary degree?
📌 Notes:
In 2020, H&M signed with the esteemed NY-based Harry Walker Agency. Here is Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex's profile page. (I could not find a profile page for Harry.) This is the same high powered agency that also represents the Clintons, the Obamas, John Legend, and many others for speaking engagements. At the time, it was widely reported that H&M could charge up to $1M per speech!
🤑 Where did all of H&M's dream$ of making million$ of dollar$ by giving word $alad $peeche$ go? 🤑

Auburn returns to action after an 8 day layoff!
Date: Thursday December 5th
Opponent: Furman Paladins
Location: Auburn Arena
Time: 8PM
Network: SEC Network, Auburn Radio Network
Auburn Basketball (finally) returns tonight!
It’s been a long time since last Tuesday night when the Tigers defeated Richmond to win the Legends Classic but the Tigers will return to Auburn Arena for the first time in 2 1⁄2 weeks tonight as they host the 7-2 Furman Paladins out of the Southern Conference.
Get To Know Furman
Last season, the Paladins were the early season mid-major darling after beating both Loyola-Chicago and Villanova, 2 Final Four teams from the previous season on their home floors. Furman stayed in the running for an at-large NCAA Tournament berth all the way until the Conference Tournaments and ended up settling for the NIT last year.
This Paladins team has lost to Alabama and are coming into Auburn after a tough loss in Tampa the other night, 65-55. Leading scorer Jordan Lyons was held to 4 points in that contest.
Lyons (#23) is a 5’11” senior guard who averages 14.8 points a game, but also averages over 12 shots a game. So far this season he is 19-70 from 3-point range (27.1%). Lyons scored a season high 33 points against Alabama on 7-21 shooting.
Junior forward Clay Mounce (#45) is a stretch 4 who is 2nd on the team averaging 14.4 points a game. Mounce is the team’s leading rebounder at 6.8 per game and is shooting 44.9% from 3 (22-49).
Sophomore forward (#4) Noah Gurley has the potential to become one of the best players in the Southern Conference. This year he is averaging 13.4 points a game and is an efficient 44-76 (57.9%) from the field.
Sophomore guard MIke Bothwell (#3) averages 9.8 points a game and junior guard Alex Hunter (#10) averages 9.3 points a game. The Paladins usually play about 8 guys a night so depth might be a factor in this one.
Keys for Auburn
The Tigers haven’t played in over a week so don’t be surprised if it takes them a bit to find their groove again. Austin Wiley was last week’s SEC Player of the Week as he played extremely well in his 2 games in Brooklyn. I feel like this is a favorable matchup for him as he’ll have a clear size advantage over Furman’s big men.
J’Von McCormick is averaging almost 7 assists a game but I would like to see him score a little more. We haven’t seen as much Vintage J’Von in the sense of him driving into the paint and making a shot while drawing contact and he’ll have to do that once league play starts. He’s also only 4-11 from the free throw line. That’s something he has to improve on as well. But J’Von has done a great job so far as he fills the shoes left by Jared Harper.
We’ve seen more Allen Flanigan in the last few games and I’ve liked what I’ve seen from him. He looks to be finding his role as one of Bruce’s primary guards to come off the bench and seeing him get 12-15 minutes a game would be nice as he continues his development.
Score Prediction
Auburn looks to go to 8-0 for the first time since 1998 and are one of about 17 teams (as of this writing) left that are undefeated. This team looks to be on a mission but Furman is a solid basketball team. They bring back most of their scorers from last season and I like this game for Auburn as it’s the kind of team you could see in the 1st Round of the NCAA Tournament. I think Auburn may start slow but eventually will be able to pull away and get it done.
It’s also the last home game for Winter Break for the students and the final home game overall for 2 weeks so I’m expecting the Jungle to be ready for this one.
Auburn 79 Furman 64

The Wintergarden Christmas Gala is an upcoming event on everyone's mind. Kat scores a ticket from Nick to go to the event and her stepmother and stepsisters destroy her dress and ticket. Noah fence to all those CS (Ok I lie, read it and weep) but my friend from Miami is in Lucy's friend circle at Loyola and Laucy are apparently all over each other in public. I'm talking kissing and nuzzling into each other - and they're Always. Holding. Hands. They're only like this when they're in NOLA together because hardly anyone there recognizes Lauren. I'm actually surprised Lauren manages to restrain herself when fans are around, from what I've heard, it seems like she's head over heels.

U of D Draws to a Close: College is Just Beginning
By Steve Murphy 19′
As the University of Detroit Jesuit senior class begins their last year at The High, preparations for the first year of college education have already begun. The U of D College Counselors got an early start to the application process by holding meetings with the seniors and their parents starting last year to discuss possibilities of where to attend college, as well as an introduction to the long, winding road ahead. Before the first day of the school year, College Counseling also put together a program called “Apps and Ice Cream”, where seniors enjoyed cold treats and dove into the complicated process of applying to Universities around the country.
Senior year also becomes a time for students to discern what field of study they would like to pursue in college, as well as discover the academic and social environment that is best for them. Noah Moyer 19′ states, “The goal of college is to provide the best outlook for your future as possible while also maximizing your talents and refining who you are. Obviously the primary goal of college is to acquire a good education in a field that you are passionate about, so that you may be prepared to have a successful and enjoyable career in life. However, college also is about discovering who you are and finding out what you really love, the things you enjoy doing, and the people you enjoy being with. Through this, college is able to prepare you to be the best you can be in all aspects of life.”
There are many prestigious universities and opportunities for the seniors of U of D Jesuit. When asked on his preferences, Stephen Stapleton 19′ stated, “My options right now are Wheaton, Loyola (Chicago), Michigan State University, and Dayton. Wheaton is my number one option because if I got accepted, I could walk on to the wrestling team. My options from there go down based on location and what I want to go into, which is business or law.” U of D Jesuit has also been known to send its graduated seniors to schools such as Michigan, Wayne State, Xavier, and Marquette, along with many other colleges.

Jim Larranaga could not believe Miami got upset on buzzer-beater
When Donte Ingram made a game-winning shot to sink Miami in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, nobody had a harder time comprehending the outcome than Jim Larranaga.
The Miami Hurricanes head coach was utterly stunned after Ingram’s deep three went in to give Loyola Chicago a 64-62 lead with 0.3 seconds left. He put his hands on his head in complete disbelief over what had happened.

When you’re leading and force your opponent to take a long 3-pointer in the final second of the game, you’re expecting to win. It’s no surprise that Larranaga couldn’t believe that Ingram’s shot went in.
