Blu Christmas Holiday Movie Asplosion 2022! ⛄ Chapter 35: A Christmas Story 🦌 And back to another that I've seen my whole life, but is new to 4K. Probably the only good movie made from Jean Shepherd's semi-fictional though autobiographically inspired "Parker Family Saga" (apparently a name to encompass them all), I'd like to point out again that this seminal holiday classic was directed by Bob Clark, who also directed "Black Christmas", which is about as far as you can get from A Christmas Story, aside from the season. I'm saying nothing new about the movie itself (it's become a classic for a reason, it's very quotable, the highlight is the dad), but I will say the 4K transfer is, like many of these, pretty good. It looks as good as it ever has, while still retaining that look of somehow feeling like it was from the 40s even though it was made in the 80s. Christmas Movie Ultimate Trivia Book by Neal E. Fischer

The title is weirdly clunky, but the book is set up wonderfully - full of vibrant colors and artwork, it really is an ultimate collection of Christmas movies as it’s full of holiday classics and favorite watches, along with many readers may decide to try watching  (though it was minus a really big one, imho - Bridget Jones’s Diary (2001) - going by the logic that DIe Hard and Eyes Wide Shut are both Christmas movies - I mean, how can you forget Bridget Jones?). 

This is bound to be an absolutely enjoyable family/friends activity and would make a fun Secret Santa gift.

[I can't very well not do the final post! Sure, 50 would've been a nice number, but it's not like I planned it... Anyway, this is it!] 🌲 Blu Christmas Holiday Movie Asplosion 2022! ⛄ Chapter 51: It's a Wonderful Life 🦌 And here we are again, at the end of the marathon, with the best holiday film of all time (in my opinion). Surprising no one yet again, the top place goes to Frank Capra's "It's a Wonderful Life". Initially not very successful in theaters or reviews (though appreciated by the critics who did recognize, and nominated for multiple Oscars), it was only decades later it became recognized widely as the classic it is, even as one of the best of all time, according to many. I already knew the amazing restoration and 4K looked great, but wow can I really appreciate it on the setup I have now. Aside from some of the hokey angels/heaven effects (and writing) at the beginning, it is truly one of the masterpieces of filmmaking. So that's that! Happy Holidays! Merry Christmas! Happy New Year! One evening, a group of poachers led by Andrei Strasser storm the mountains and Kweli, Ruth's friend, alerts her to the men as she is putting Jill to bed.
