Whoever made the Damian Wayne playlist on Spotify that has strictly dramatic classical music is so correct. That kid would not listen to any "underground" or "alternative" artists (PLS, I don't mind mother mother but they're on every single slightly angsty character's playlist). That mf when asked his favorite song would say "Piano Sonata No.14 in C-Sharp Minor, Op. 27 No.2 'Moonlight': III. Presto agitato" with a straight face

Rewind the Tape —Episode 7
Art of the episode
Only four days to go until the premiere, and we're finally wrapping up with the last post of our rewatch. Just like we did for the pilot and for episodes two, three, four, five, and six, we took note of the art shown and mentioned in the 7th episode while we rewatched it, and put together our notes for reference. And, now, we're sharing our notes on AO3 too.
Tumblr media
Six épigraphes antiques
Claude Debussy, 1914
This suite was originally composed to be played as a duet, but Debussy re-transcribed it as a solo piece the next year.
Tumblr media
The Garden of Earthly Delights
Hieronymus Bosch, 1503–1515
Tumblr media
Original sin is the theme of Lestat's Mardi Gras ball. The triptych shows that sin "starts in Paradise or Eden on the left panel, with Adam and Eve, and is punished in Hell in the right panel. The centre panel depicts a Paradise that deceives the senses, a false Paradise given over to the sin of lust. This deception is encouraged by the fact that the centre panel is shown as a continuation of Eden through the use of a single, continuous landscape." [From Museo del Prado.]

Let them eat [King] cake!
A historical reference this time: this is the traditional translation of the French phrase "Qu'ils mangent de la brioche," conventionally attributed to Marie Antoinette. The quote can be traced back to Jean-Jacques Rousseau's Confessions, published in 1765, 24 years prior to the French Revolution, when Antoinette was nine years old; and was only attributed to her decades after her death.
Tumblr media
Autumn at Arkville (again!)
We first saw this painting by Alexander H. Wyant in episode 2, in the du Lac family home! It was there during the funeral too but now, almost a decade after Grace left New Orleans, we see it in Rue Royale. We wonder: was this simple prop recycling, or should we ask ourselves how and why Louis came to have that keepsake from his family?
Tumblr media
After the Bath: Woman Drying her Neck
Edgar Degas, 1898 [Identified by @nicodelenfent, here.]
This is the third Degas in Rue Royale! It's part of a series of studies of women drying after bathing, which includes charcoal sketches, and we suspect that the unidentified drawing from the hallway might be one of them.

Piano Sonata No. 14 in C-sharp minor
Ludwig van Beethoven, 1801
The closing song of the season is a classic, better known as the Moonlight Sonata, but the first edition of the score was headed by the title Quasi una fantasia or "almost a fantasy" (a fantasia is a musical composition with roots in improvisation).
The Graduate
Dir. Mike Nichols, 1967
Not exactly a reference, but Jacob Anderson shared in interview with Collider that Rolin directed them to play that scene thinking of the final moments of this movie. Have you taken the chance to watch it during the hiatus?
If you spot or put a name to any other references, let us know if you'd like us to add them with credit to the post! And we rounded up all the unidentified pieces in this post, in case you want to take a look and see if anything feels familiar!
We're super close to the second season, and we can't wait! Of course, we'll keep watching with an eye out for interesting references, and it's always easier to find them if we're working together. So, if you spot any interesting art pieces and other references in the second season, make sure to share with the class in the tag #vampterview, and @ us or use the tag #art of the episode if you'd like us to reblog your post into our dedicated tag for these references.
And don't forget to get your very own bingo card for the upcoming predictions bingo, here!

The start of the day and almost the entire day was rough. I did not know if I was going to complete everything today or not. I did not sleep well last night because I had a bad dream, and I think that led to my mood. It also did not help that it was cloudy and a bit dreary outside besides the warmth of the air.
Either way, I managed to complete everything I needed to do, and I felt so much better after dance. It allowed me to get out of my head and socialize a little with the people I love being around.
Tasks Completed:
Geometry - Learned about standard equations of circles + practice
Lit and Comp II - Reviewed Unit 19 Vocabulary + read chapter 28 of Emma by Jane Austen + completed poem assignment and emailed to Mom for grading (50/50)

Bible I - Read Joshua 20-21
World History - Read the introduction to the new unit + read about the Schlieffen Plan + quiz (100%) + explained the plan and what happened with plan and the circumstances surrounding it + watched a video on trench warfare
Biology with Lab - Learned about the prairie biome + played a game to help the shortgrass and tallgrass prairies + wrote about the biomes
Foundations - Read more on resourcefulness + played 5 minute mystery + read about the message of advertising + answered advertising message questions based on an ad

What I’m Grateful for Today:
I am grateful for ballet tonight and all of my friends there because I did not have a good start to the day. I felt much better after I got to class.
Quote of the Day:
Words are how others define us, but we can define ourselves any way we choose.

Lucifer W/ Trans Masc Partner HC
Warnings; mention of slurs, misgendering and scars
Please do enjoy
He loves you no matter what. You're the one and only human he will ever willingly tolerate for so long
Tumblr media
If anyone EVER misgenders you, they have one chance to correct themselves before they're not seen again (he probably told Diavolo about it and made him take care of it before he killed the culprit)
If someone were to call you a slur? Oh they better hope Diavolo gets to them first. Diavolo is by no stretch of the imagination any less upset, but what he does would probably be considered angelic compared to what Lucifer would've done to them
Lucifer is all over you that day, whenever he sees you he gives you a kiss on the forehead and mumbles a soft 'you're so handsome' or ' you're perfect my love'
He, for once, will cast aside his work and duties for that night. If you allow him he just holds you while you guys watch a movie or series, kissing your face, neck or any exposed skin he's allowed to kiss
Of course the news will soon travel to the rest of the brothers. They rush to Lucifer, making sure he took care of it properly 'he won't bother anyone again' was his answer. It quited the brothers rather quickly 'now leave me to my work' they would scamper back to their rooms and Lucifer would return to his 'work'
He loves tracing your surgery scars if you'll let him 'pretty' he'll mumble before kissing it
If you haven't had surgery he's always making sure you never over bind. He can't remember to eat but if you don't take off your binder the second eight hours ticks off he's behind you 'my love, time to take off your binder' 'Lu, I'm cooking dinner. It can wait a bit' he huffs but waits for you to finish cooking 'quickly now my love, before the food gets cold, or eaten' a pointed stare at Beelzebub who entered as soon as food was done
If you follow him and change out of the binder he'll let you have one of his shirts if you'd like to wear it and kisses your forehead 'you're so handsome'
If you don't, maybe you're feeling very dysphoric that day. The thought of your uncompressed chest plaguing your thoughts. He'll notice the change in your behaviour and take you to his room to talk 'what's wrong' 'nothing Lu' 'darling do not lie to me, I want to make you feel better' you'll explain to him and he's completely understanding. But your health comes first. He'll gently coax you out of your binder and fit you in what you're most comfortable in. He'll bring dinner back to you and then go to his desk to finish some papers. You're probably almost asleep by the time he slides into bed with you 'you're perfect my love. Absolutely perfect'
If you let him he loves to call you a good boy and watch you melt. He does it with the simplest tasks as well 'My dear, pass me a pen please' you'll pass him a pen and he'll smile 'good boy' he watches you freeze as your face reddens (thats not trans/gender non conforming specific but just had to add it)
Showers and baths can be hard, especially if you haven't fully transitioned or had surgery. Lucifer will do everything he can to make sure you're comfortable. Even if that means just stepping back and leaving you alone for a bit
But he'll offer to stand with you in the shower, washing you so you don't have to. He'll encourage you to do it, but if you dont want to, he won't hesitate to gently wash you off. He'll talk about your day, his day, plans for tomorrow. Keeping your mind busy from your creeping thoughts. When you're done he'll wrap you in a towel and kiss your forehead. He'll dry you off and let you get dressed before continuing the rest of your day/night
Tumblr media
A/N; That is all for now. I think I'll maybe do more NSFW ones later.
Good riddance and stay safe 🖤🖤🖤

Taking a moment to be joyfully petty:
Last night I went to a cocktail lounge with my parents, sister and my parent’s friends and their daughter … stay with me on this…. The friends have always bragged about how amazing their daughter is and how talented and how much MORE talented than everyone else she is.
I was already drinking and I got annoyed, shocking I know, and so I asked if Maya still played piano. (Because that was a huge thing they always bragged about) and they answered for her saying essentially “omg yeah she’s so amazing she can play anything even if you put her on the spot.”
NOW. A friend of mine is dating the owner of the bar and I asked maya if she’d play something on the piano. She kept hedging, saying she wouldn’t be allowed, she wasn’t in the mood, etc etc. so I got up and walked to the owner and asked if I could play something. He asked me if I was good and I said “pretty good” and he said ok so I then sat down and played the third movement of Beethoven’s piano sonata no. 14 in C sharp minor FROM MEMORY. I did it near perfectly.
Then I got back to our table and downed the rest of my martini and just stared smugly at the friend’s and daughter.
BITE ME BITCH I PLAY EVERY DAY

Rating random composers as I'm listening to their music just because I don't feel like sleeping.
Shostakovich: 10/10 he got the Slavic sadness, weather and politics in music. Love that.
Beethoven: 7/10. Pretty dramatic, and that's cool, but like there is room to stop being angry about gradually losing hearing as a composer.
Howard Shore: 9/10 pretty cool
Vivaldi: 9/10. Chill but with a fair flare for Big Dramatic Emotions. Love that
Wagner: 8/10. I think this German guy did his best and it was pretty great.
Tchaikovsky: 10/10. What a surprise! That's my pathetic Russian gay boy!! He got the feelings in his music and I feel them very much.
Dvorak: 7/10. There is nothing wrong with his music, I just keep forgetting it exists? It's actually great.
