My personal headcanon is that Pony got his love for reading from Darry. When Darry was in high school he’d read the books he got in class out loud to Ponyboy and straight up just handed him some of the easier ones so they could talk about it later. In my brain the reason Ponyboy clings onto it so much is because it’s one of the things he and Darry REALLY bonded over when he was a kid and it just brings back good memories of when they got along better.

The fact that Max rambling on about how he loves his relationship with Ferrari and battles with Charles, then randomly saying “we are only three weeks apart” managed to piss off Johnny Herbert back in 2022, is the funniest thing ever.

"He seems to sort of just dismissed Lewis straight away, and then he was straight onto Charles and Ferrari the battle they're having. "I thought he was enjoying the battle they were having on track (last season), but clearly there, he wasn't enjoying it at all. "But I don't understand why his comments would be so negative towards Lewis and the battle that they had last year. I'm quite perplexed."

Max was the complete opposite of negative in his comments. He pointed out that he found Ferrari to be a friendly competitor, then said he wouldn’t go to dinner and laugh with (Mercedes).

"Let's say it like this, I would not be on a table on Saturday night having a laugh with (Mercedes)."

Like god-forbid Max likes his childhood rival and the team 💀

Listening to far away from tulsa makes me wanna sob it’s like I can hear the wind in the piano and the violin. I can hear the wood of their home in the guitar. It feels like standing on top of a hill and feeling the sun beat down on you like this distinct memory I have from when I was a kid in the springtime laying in the grass. It’s almost overwhelming in how peaceful it is and how it makes me ache and long like them so deeply, how it feels like you can hear the rain gentle on a window pane, the breeze in the trees and bringing leaves down with it. I’ve never listened to a song that feels so deeply in the instrumentation like poetry it makes me wanna cry with them and for them and imagine everything they had and could never have and always wanted in spite of everything. Every time I listen to it I’m struck so deeply with the thought of “I can hear the wind in the air and on my body in this song”

so in my srtt rewrite that still needs a title, johnny and troy are the ones who help angel deal with killbane. johnny is the one who becomes “the stilwater butcher” and faces off against killbane in the ring when he inevitably incapacitates angel. troy on the other hand had taken out the ref beforehand so he could be in the ring as well, keeping off any of killbane’s back-up.

in my rewrite, murderbrawl is two different things: there’s the actual event, which is just typical wrestling, just with the flashy name. then there’s murderbrawl, which is a small, underground fight ring where rules don’t apply; you’re encouraged to be as gruesome as possible and killing your opponents is allowed. just the kind of shit johnny would love. troy…not so much.

I know I’ve made other posts talking about or alluding to this but like. obviously there are like the old hollywood movies in the sort of dyke subtext canon (all about eve, rebecca, johnny guitar, etc) but like. there are so many movies that like 10 people have seen but I have such a clear gay vision or interpretation for it. most of them aren’t even GOOD. and yet!!

like the great lie is the one that haunts me the most (or the women but I think that one is kind of different for me perhaps bc I’ve already talked about it here a lot or perhaps bc I think of it as being more well known and watched than I think it actually is? actually it’s probably that I think it is an overall good and well executed and entertaining movie which isn’t really true of most of these tbh). but I also think a lot about like when ladies meet, or old acquaintance, or sadie mckee, or the shining hour, or the model and the marriage broker, or a woman’s secret, or the bigamist, or craig’s wife, or born to be bad, or separate tables, or even dark victory to a degree. others too certainly those are just the ones that come to mind. for half of these it’s not even like oh these women are gay together it’s just like hey I think she’s a lesbian. and I’m right. but my genius will never be fully appreciated in my day unfortunately.
