(OFFICIALLY) SWEPT OFF YOUR FEET
i. summary in which everyone knew you were in a relationship, except for you.
ii. warnings wc 1.5k, profanity, reader will be angry: couple fight scene but not really, alhaitham is kinda dumb here, but he loves you and you love him and that's all that matters, ending is kinda lame... ft. tighnari and cyno
iii. written for my big sibling @earthtooz hope u like this one earf ily
“Hey, Alhaitham?”
He hums noncommittally.
You nestle further in his arm that’s draped lazily over your shoulder, his other hand and his attention occupied by a book. He doesn’t respond again, but he does glance at you for a moment while you shift, adjusting his arm more comfortably.
“Tighnari sent me a letter the other day.”
“Hm.”
“And it was real sweet, you know. He sent over fruits and told me you have your share in my package. He didn’t want to send them to you because he said the fruits would have expired by the time you’d read the letter.” Alhaitham doesn’t deny it. “But I read something extremely strange in the letter that had me dropping the fruits out of pure shock.”
Alhaitham still doesn’t reply. But you know him well enough to know that he’s no longer reading—just keeping appearances.
“Did you read it?”
“...No.”
Obviously. “Ah, well. Let me quote it, as I feel the need to share it with you as well.” You sit up straight and push Alhaitham’s book away from his line of view. “He said, ‘For the insufferable, lovely couple. It’s been a while since you two have visited. How are you and Alhaitham doing? Write back soon.’ And then he taped a flower.”
Alhaitham’s mouth twitches into a half-smile. “You look miffed.”
You scowl. “Alhaitham, of course I’m miffed! Since when were we a lovely couple? And why are you not surprised? Were you the one to prank them?”
“No one’s trying to fool anyone,” he says smoothly, picking up his book once again. As if he just hasn’t caused your crisis. “Tighnari is simply being a good friend and looking for something to nag us about.”
“Alhaitham, since when were we a couple?” you demanded again, shaking his arm. “Did I miss something? Did I wake up one day and forget about being in a relationship with you?”
“Haven’t we always been in one?”
“No, we have not?”
Alhaitham casts you a glance. “You sound unsure.”
“Because you seem so sure of yourself for no reason,” you fume, itching with the urge to hurl the book at his face. “I didn’t even know you were even into me like that!”
“I let you kiss me on the cheek every night before you leave my house. Sometimes, you don’t even leave my house, so we sleep on the same bed.” As if that explains anything. And did he fling out these reasons to Tighnari, too?
“Well, I do it because I’ve been doing it since we were, like, six. And you never told me to stop. Plus, it’s just a cheek kiss—that’s way different from an actual kiss actual couples do,” you say, getting increasingly infuriated with each word that’s coming out your mouth. Why do you have to explain how relationships work to Alhaitham? Surely he’s read a guide about love in the millions of books he’s touched?
“I don’t see why you wouldn’t start kissing me the way couples do, then.”
Oh, this bitch. “So you knew that I liked you?” Your voice wavers, and you feel a little pathetic. “And that’s what prompted you to start spreading lies to everyone? Is this some joke to you?”
Immediately, his expression is swept off of amusement. “Y/N,” he says as you feel your lips tremble. “Y/N, that’s not—”
“Shut up,” you say. “How long has this been going on? Since when have I been outside of the biggest inside joke, huh?”
“It’s not like that. I thought—”
“Oh, you thought, didn’t you? Yet you didn’t think I don’t want my feelings to be played like—like—” You can’t even bring yourself to say this. You know that Alhaitham can be mean when he wants to be, but making a joke out of the feelings you’ve desperately hidden for years?
“I need to leave.” You’re not sure why you feel the need to announce it. Was it because you rarely even leave his place? Each step feels wrong. You don’t want to be mad at Alhaitham to this extent but you’re hurt.
You ignore Alhaitham’s hurried, “Where are you going?” because you don’t have an answer to that. Wherever you go, you always end up in Alhaitham’s arms.
You forcefully push the door open and march off, head spinning, humiliated. You hear Alhaitham’s steps fall into place after yours. It’s pissing you off even more that Alhaitham doesn’t even look the slightest bit frazzled, as if you impulsively sprinting off is just a walk in the block for him.
Then you spot Cyno in the middle of a street. He catches your wrist before you can avoid him.
He blinks, mildly surprised to see it’s just you and not some food stall thief. “Y/N.” Cyno tilts his head slightly to acknowledge the man a few feet away from you. “Alhaitham. Is something the matter?”
“It’s nothing!” You don’t question why or how Cyno is here, shoving him aside—which proved to be a little difficult given how he’s pretty strong for such a tiny man.
“You’re crying,” Cyno points out as you try to push him away as if you aren’t aware of how your face feels uncomfortably hot and how tears are sliding off your cheeks.
“It’s a marital dispute,” Alhaitham says, directly behind you.
His voice makes you scowl. So infuriatingly sexy, and you’re mad at it. “We’re not married!”
Cyno nods, serious. “Yes, I only heard about the engagement.” At your stunned silence and Alhaitham’s reluctant stillness, Cyno clears his throat and steps aside. “I suppose I’ll leave you two to it. I don’t know how relationships work.”
You groan as Cyno walks off, “Great, so even Cyno thinks we’re a couple. Who’s next, Lesser Lord Kusanali?”
Alhaitham looks away. “Well—”
“Oh, fuck off.”
Your wrist seems keen on being dragged around by men today, it seems. Alhaitham firmly tugs at your arm, pulling you close to his chest, his gaze intensely searching yours. But all he would be able to see is your scowl. And all you can see is his handsome face.
“Y/N,” Alhaitham says, your name in his voice a sweet murmur. “I’m sorry I upset you. I didn’t think you would react that way.”
“What, you think I’d just roll with it?” you spit with dripping bitterness.
“Yes.” You're taken aback as you gaze at him and find his expression to be entirely genuine and open. “We fell into a friendship so easily. I fell in love with you the same way: naturally. I thought…” And then his usually blank face twists into something unpleasant. “Forgive me.”
“Alhaitham, you idiot. You bastard. Do you have any idea how relationships work?”
“No. All I know is how to be with you.” He wipes a tear off your cheek. “But it appears I’m not even doing that right.”
“Fuck you.” You bat his hand away. His face falls. “You don’t get to act all sweet to me like that. I spent years thinking you would never see me that way, and you get to decide one morning that we’re in a relationship, just like that?”
“You’ve liked me for years?” Alhaitham’s eyes are a bit wide, totally missing the point.
“Alhaitham.”
“I ask you out every dinner. And you say yes each time.”
“I didn’t think you meant it like that!”
“I did mean it like that,” Alhaitham says, and again with that ‘so sure of myself’ personality. You hate it. You love it. “And I meant everything I’ve ever said to you like that. I didn’t tell anyone anything; they just assumed on their own, and only then did I realize how it did seem that way. It was my selfishness that didn’t try to deny their assumptions.”
Alhaitham’s usually so difficult to speak to, especially when it comes to expressing his true emotions. You often find yourself filling the silence, and he seems content with it. However, he appears desperate at this moment, as though you’re planning on leaving if he doesn’t give you a reason to stay.
You are too weak. “So you like me.”
“I do.”
“…And you want to… be in a relationship with me.” Alhaitham nods. You're beginning to feel flustered as the realization sets in that the man you've always dreamt of is holding you intimately in the middle of nowhere, and also confessing that he feels the same way. “Ask me out properly, then.”
Alhaitham looks at you incredulously. Did he think it was over?
“Do it, Alhaitham. Woo me. Win me over. Sweep me off my feet.”
“...Y/N,” he hesitates, his face tinted pink, vaguely embarrassed. “Go out with me. In that way.”
It sounds demanding and clumsy, but it’s perfectly Alhaitham, so your heart beats out of your chest and your face splits into a grin all the same.
You wrap your arms around his neck. “If you’re gonna be my boyfriend, you’re going to do it right, you hear me? You won’t just let me do anything. And you will start—officially—tomorrow by telling everyone that we are not engaged nor married.”
Alhaitham dips his head down, your chin trapped by his fingers. “We will be, eventually, though. And I can just start now. Officially.”
Your confusion doesn’t last for even a second when his lips meet yours in a kiss. You’ve been wooed. Won over. Swept off your feet.
earth i hope u know it took me months to find a good plot for your man this was a feat in itself. also i copy pasted your tags love u.
also if u caught the title while it was called swept over your feet shut up…. Please. this didnt have a title originally 🙁

clarisse x reader where y/n had been noticing clarisse like getting distant( like not holding her hand for more then 4 seconds just small stuff that only y/n notices😭) and then the day percy breaks her spear she's mad and y/n trys calming her down but clarisse just yells at her about how clingy she is and to leave her alone and basically she regrets it and apologizes multiple times and after like a week y/n forgives her and it's cute (I NEEDDDD THE PLAYING HARD TO GET PLS I HATE WHEN SHE FORGIVES HER EASILY)
I Miss You, I'm Sorry
pairing: clarisse x apollo!reader
summary: clarisse is distant and cold, and y/n is officially done.
warnings: none?? i don't think?
-
you'd been with clarisse for around three years now. at first, a lot of people were confused. clarisse was, essentially, one big ball of anger, and you were a ball of sunshine. after a while, though, it made sense. you balanced each other out. plus, clarisse was a lot softer with you.
but recently, clarisse had been acting different. ever since percy jackson came to camp, actually. she was a lot more angry. and perhaps it was because you'd welcomed him to camp and generally tried to be nice to him. you couldn't help it, he reminded you of your brother, who had a mortal dad and stayed at home with your mom.
when you'd sneak to the ares table during meals, she'd hardly acknowledge you. when you tried to hold her hand, she'd let you, for all of six seconds. you weren't sure why. you hadn't done anything to personally anger her, had you?
you must have. because even as the two of you got ready for capture the flag, she ignored you.
"hey, claire?" you said, turning to her. you were just about the only one she let give her a nickname, and you'd settled on claire. "can you help me with my armor? i think it's crooked."
"you can do it yourself, i'm sure."
you frowned. she'd usually jump at the opportunity to help you- to touch you, to breathe the same air as you.
what did you do wrong?
you had one of your siblings fix it for you.
-
luke had outrun you with the flag when you heard a scream from the beach. you recognized it.
"clarisse!" you shouted, bolting towards the sound.
when you got there, you saw clarisse sitting before percy, her broken spear between them.
you ran to her side and helped her up as the other team began celebrating their win.
"claire, i am so sorry about your spear. we-- i can fix it! or i can have one of the athena kids do it! someone should know how, right? probably. yeah, we'll have them fix it, and it'll be-"
"can you just leave me alone?" clarisse snapped.
you froze. pulled your hands away, and retreated into yourself.
"oh," you said, clearing your throat.
"gods, you're just so clingy! i just need five minutes of peace."
"oh."
that's when she seemed to realize she hurt your feelings. she sighed, her face softening, "y/n-"
"i'm gonna go."
"i didn't mean it like that-"
"yeah. i'm sure you didn't."
you crossed your arms as you walked away, resisting the urge to cry.
-
DAY 1
during dinner that night, clarisse came up to the apollo table.
"y/n?" she asked.
you kept pushing the food around your plate, ignoring her.
"y/n." she repeated.
she sighed.
"i'm sorry, i didn't mean it-"
without saying anything, you stood up and walked off.
clarisse didn't follow.
-
DAY 2
you were sitting by the lake, your feet in the water. you heard someone come from behind, and you knew who it was.
you sighed.
“y/n..” she started.
“i’m not talking to you,” you stated. you crossed your arms and kicked your feet in the water.
“please, i’m sorry—“
“i don’t care. you really hurt my feelings, clarisse. you could’ve just told me you want space instead of acting like you hate me.”
“i don’t—“
“just go, clarisse.”
she sighed and didn’t fight you anymore.
-
DAY 5
clarisse had done what you asked for the past few days. she didn’t come up to you or try to apologize.
you were getting ready for bed, braiding your younger sister’s hair, when someone knocked on the cabin door.
assuming it was some late night check, you sighed.
“i’ll get it.”
you walked over to the door and opened it, and clarisse was standing there.
you didn’t even let her speak before you shut the door.
“who was that?” lee asked.
“no one,” you shrugged, sitting back on the bed and resuming the braids.
-
DAY 6
“why don’t you just talk to her?” percy asked you. you offered to help him train with the water as best as you could.
“because. i usually do, but she’s been rude to me for a few weeks now. i just wanna makes sure she knows i won’t put up with it.”
percy shrugged, “makes sense, i guess.”
even though you had a poker face around clarisse, it did make you sad every time you shut her down or pushed her away.
you just wanted your girlfriend back.
-
DAY 7
after dinner, you really just wanted to go to your cabin and sleep. however, when you opened the door, a bunch of candles were lit.
“what the—“
clarisse was standing next to your bed with a bouquet of flowers. they were your favorites— hibiscus. they didn’t grow anywhere near long island, so she must have gotten a demeter kid to get her some.
“i’m sorry, y/n. i shouldn’t have snapped at you. i just.. i’ve worked my whole life at camp to be recognized by my dad, and percy gets all this fame and glory in a few weeks. it’s not an excuse, but i just.. wanted to explain myself,” she said, extending the flowers toward you.
you kept your arms crossed.
“i want to be around you all the time. i didn’t mean to act like i don’t wanna be with you, because i do. i mean.. besides, who else is able to calm me down?”
and that made you laugh, “nobody,” you took the flowers. “thank you for the flowers. no one’s ever gotten me these.”
she shrugged, “i figured it was about time you got your favorite flowers.”
you smiled and quickly turned to her.
“so.. we’re good?”
“we’re good,” you nod and plant your lips on hers.

I saw a post once that entertained the idea of Tsutako being in the background of Sanemi’s hometown in the anime, and it got me thinking about a sanegiyuu childhood meet cute.
…
- When Giyuu was 13, he took a trip with Tsutako to a neighboring city where her fiancé had come from
- Though Giyuu was a much friendlier person as a child, he was still quiet, reserved and nervous. As a result, being in a bigger city was overwhelming and he struggled to keep up with Tsutako as they walked
- Before they could reach her fiancé’s home, Giyuu was separated from her in a crowd
- Without any people skills to speak of or the confidence to ask for help, Giyuu let the crowd swallow him up until he found a small spot he could cower in
- He ended up hiding under the stairs of a shrine where nobody could see him. He cried so quietly, nobody could possibly hear him either, but a boy did miraculously find him
- The boy was strikingly beautiful with stark white hair and piercing eyes. His presence made Giyuu stop crying almost immediately, but only because he was mesmerized.
- When the boy spoke, he was blunt and sort of rude but Giyuu hung onto every word he said as if he was a kind spirit come to save him
- “You cry like my little siblings,” he observed. It was a simple, random sort of thing to say but it perplexed Giyuu so much that he didn’t cry any longer
- Giyuu learned that this particular shrine is where the boy would find one of his brothers hiding, so when he saw Giyuu curled up, he thought something might’ve happened to him
- Giyuu reluctantly explained he was separated from Tsutako while visiting. In truth, he wasn’t sure if he should trust a stranger but they were clearly of a similar age and that put him at ease compared to an adult
- The boy gave Giyuu a small canteen of water before they could continue because the crying had obviously overwhelmed him. He then asked for the fiancé’s name, which he scowled upon hearing, surprisingly knowing the person
- “Is that bad?” Giyuu nervously asked
- “He’s one of the sons of our landlord,” the boy explained, “He’s fine. His family’s a buncha dicks.”
- Profanities aside, Giyuu asked if he could lead him there, and the boy agreed
- “What did his family do?” Giyuu asked on the way
- “Their kid brother said some shit about my family bein’ too big and my brother got into a fight with him about it.”
- “How big is your family?”
- “Nine of us. I have six siblings.”
- Giyuu learned that his mother had just given birth, which prompted the rude comment from their landlord’s son. He also had a father who he didn’t want to talk about on account of him angering some violent people
- Though the boy didn’t seem terribly interested in prying into Giyuu’s life, he still asked, “What about you?”
- “I just have my sister. My parents died when I was young.”
- “Lucky you have a sister.”
- “Yes… I’m Giyuu, by the way.”
- For a moment, the boy looked hesitant to give anymore details about himself, but must’ve decided he doesn’t have much to lose.
- “Sanemi.”
- On the way to the landlord’s home, it began to rain so Sanemi pulled Giyuu aside near a food stall to wait it out.
- Giyuu, as luck would have it, did have a small amount of money on him and suggested they share a meal.
- Sanemi agreed, not letting on that he rarely has enough money to ever eat out. However, Giyuu became curious when Sanemi awkwardly held his food at his side and wouldn’t take a bite.
- He didnt want to admit it, but his plan was to pocket whatever Giyuu bought him to bring home to his family. He wasn’t going to tell Giyuu, but the boy’s earnest, honest face pulled it out of him
- In response, Giyuu bought him another and asked that he feed himself as well
- When Sanemi finally did eat, Giyuu smiled for the first time. It flustered Sanemi, who quickly learned he couldn’t handle a pretty face
- When the rain ended, people came flooding to the streets in overwhelming numbers that scared Giyuu again
- To reassure him, Sanemi grabbed his hand and returned his earlier smile, promising he’ll be okay as long as they stick together
- Giyuu took to Sanemi with awe. The crowd was still scary, but Giyuu grounded himself in the feeling of his companion’s hand and trusted his word.
- Eventually they did find themselves at the landlord’s house. Most of the family was out looking for Giyuu, but luckily Tsutako stayed and was there to greet him.
- This was also a relief to Sanemi, who wasn’t sure he would be able to resist driving his fist into the face of the boy who fought with Genya
- Sanemi intended to leave with no commotion, just an odd empty feeling at the notion of leaving his new acquaintance, but Giyuu stopped him
- “Thank you for helping me,” he said with much more confidence than the first time he spoke. “You’re very kind, Sanemi.”
- Sanemi, flustered, shrugged and promised it was no problem. “Couldn’t just leave ya there…”
- “Maybe we’ll see each other again.”
- When Giyuu said this, he held onto the hope that because Tsutako new husband had close ties to Sanemi’s, they would surely meet again one day
- It was hard to explain but Giyuu felt drawn to Sanemi, like he was a special person he was meant to meet
- Of course, he couldn’t predict the tragedy that would befall both of them
- Years later, long after Tsutako and the Shinazugawa family were murdered, Sanemi was welcomed into the Hashira and finally met Giyuu again
- Only this time, he was quiet and cold. He didn’t give any indication that he remembered Sanemi and didn’t have any of the kindness he was full of as a child. Sanemi decided that he must’ve turned into a conceited ass with no time for the little people, he probably didn’t even remember him.
- But it was impossible for Giyuu to forget who Sanemi was. Even under all the scars and curses, he was still the boy who saved him that day. But Giyuu knew they had fundamentally changed as people, and clearly Sanemi wanted nothing to do with him any longer
- Unfortunately for them, the draw remains there no matter how far apart they try to drift.

Not A Verstappen: Gridlocked {5}
Pairing: Charles Leclerc x fem!driver!reader x Lando Norris Summary: Max arrives at the wrong time and everything goes to hell. Warnings: 18+ only, angst WC: 2.3k F1 Masterlist NAV: Sibling Rivalry One || Two || Three NAV: Gridlocked One || Two || Three || Four || Five || Six
The door opening might as well have been a punch to your gut. You had seen Lando lose, you had seen him cry, but you had never seen him defeated.
“Lan,” you whispered in the silence as you rose from the couch where you had been curled up in Charles’ arms, “I’m sorry, I wasn’t thinking, it was an accident.”
The backpack hanging from his sagging shoulders slipped and thudded to the floor as he saw the suitcase waiting beside the door. “So this is how it is, go public and kick me out?”
“Lando, no.” You closed the distance and crashed into his chest but his arms didn’t return the embrace as you looked up to see the tears in his eyes.
“They’re mine, mon cher,” Charles said as he wrapped his arms around the both of you and kissed Lando’s temple. Lando closed his eyes at the soft touch of Charles’ lips and a tear squeezed free, squeezing your heart at the same time. “I thought you might want the night together after what happened.”
Lando fisted his hand in Charles' shirt to stop him from stepping any further away and tugged him back. Their lips collided with desperate need and you melted at the sight of their tongues fighting for dominance until Lando won. Charles sank into his embrace and moaned when Lando combed his fingers through his hair before they parted breathless. “You’re not leaving right now are you?”
Charles chuckled softly and shrugged. “I’m sure I can be convinced to stay for a little while.”
You would usually try to go to bed early before a race but this wasn’t a normal night. It was already late by the time Charles left for the empty room booked in his name down the hall, next to the empty one of Lando’s, for appearances sake. There was still no chance of sleep yet, not while Lando lay awake and staring at the patterns on the ceiling.
He had been a little rougher as his emotions got the better of him, not enough to hurt you or Charles, but enough to know there was a discussion needed about the new situation. Since Charles left he had been quiet, retreating back into himself the longer he lay there.
“Babe, we need to talk.”
His rising chest stopped as his eyes darted your way. “I hate those words. They are never followed by anything good.”
“They’re just words, not good or bad,” you pointed out but he just looked away with a huff of air through his nostrils. “What do you think we should do?”
“About what?” He turned and propped himself up on his elbow as he traced a fingertip along your curves. “About how my boyfriend and my girlfriend get to have a normal relationship in public, go out on dates, hold hands, kiss? About how I have to play third wheel, a friend tagging along?” He flopped back down and slung an arm across his eyes. “I don’t want to talk about it.”
“There are other options. We could say we went on a date but it’s nothing serious, no label, be more careful and let the heat die down. Not everyone who kisses has to be in a relationship.”
“If you say you aren’t dating him then the tabloids will call you a slut, that’s how they work,” he muttered.
“I don’t care what they call me, they’ve called me a bitch for most of my career.”
“But I care! I hate how you are treated by the male reporters, how everyone holds you to different standards.”
“It wasn’t all that long ago when you were one of those people too,” you reminded him. “You treated me differently to your guy friends.”
“Not because you were a girl,” he groaned as he pinched your hip. “That was because I was in love with you.”
You quirked an eyebrow up and poked him in the chest. “Was?”
“Am, always,” he corrected with a laugh before he sighed. “I feel like I’ll be forgotten.”
“Oh, Lando…” You pushed him onto his back and straddled his hips. “This only works because of the three of us. Without you, we wouldn’t be complete. I wouldn’t be complete.”
His face softened at the reassuring words and his hands ran up your body to cup your face, pulling you down to meet his. “Promise me,” he whispered against your lips.
Taking one of his hands you held his forefinger and crossed it over your heart. “I promise. You won’t ever be forgotten.”
Cradling you to his chest, he wrapped his arms around you and yawned as the exhausting day came to a close. “What do you think Charles is doing?”
You snorted a laugh. “Probably sitting on an ice pack.”
“I wasn’t that bad, was I?” Lando asked as he bit his lip.
“I don’t think our Charles has ever really been spanked, he might feel it in the morning,” you giggled. “He knows you would have stopped the moment he asked to, but he didn’t, so it wasn’t too much for him.”
He relaxed under you and after a few minutes his breathing evened out as he fell asleep. You started to climb off him so you could lay on his arm but the moment you moved he woke up.
“You make a terrible weighted blanket,” he grumbled. “Stay still.”
Chuckling, you laid back down and made yourself comfortable, pulling the blankets up to settle in for the night. “Sweet dreams, my love.”
His sleepy mumblings were almost incoherent but you caught his reply with a smile as you drifted off too.
“Max?” You frowned as you opened the door expecting to find Charles returning for breakfast. “What do you want?”
“To talk,” he replied as he pushed the door open and walked in without an invitation.
You pulled the hotel robe tighter around your body and crossed your arms defensively. “There’s nothing to talk about.”
“He’s one of my best mates and you lied to me.”
“I never lied, I just didn’t tell you - because it’s none of your business what I do. And, it obviously didn’t affect your friendship.”
“Secrets are bad,” he stated like he was talking to Penelope and you felt your temper rise.
“I was a secret!” you hissed sharply. “I was a secret for ten fucking years, Max. Does that make me bad?”
“Why are you whispering?” Max narrowed his eyes at the bedroom door that was almost closed. “Is that bastard here? I'm going to kill him.”
“Max, don’t go in there.” He ignored your protest as he shoved the door open and tore the bedding away. “Max!”
Confusion hit Max like a slap to the face as he saw who it was asleep naked facedown in your bed. “Lando?”
Lando came awake suddenly, after managing to sleep through the noise it was the cold air that woke him. “Woah, what the…?”
“You’re fucking him too?” Max growled, turning away from Lando to look down his nose at you. Disappointed was set deep in his features as he shook his head. “You’re a whore, just like your mother.”
You didn’t even feel your fingers closing around the vase, you didn’t feel anything but the explosive need to make him regret his words. Max managed to dodge the vase as it flew across the room at him but porcelain shattered against the wall that your scream echoed off.
“Apologise now,” you demanded as you started to stalk your half brother around the bed. “My mother did nothing wrong! Jos may have cheated on your mum, but he royally fucked mine over.”
You didn’t hear the footsteps coming in, and you barely registered the arms that wrapped around you, the red sleeves bright against your white robe. All your focus was on Max and the sneer on his face that you wanted to slap right off.
“Guess you’re more like Jos than you thought then,” Max snickered. “Let her go, Charles, prove once and for all that you are a Verstappen.”
“What the hell is going on?” Charles growled as he struggled to hold you back. “Lando…a little…help.”
Max frowned as he watched Lando rush to help keep you from reaching him, after tripping over the pair of boxers he was trying to pull on. “You’re not even going to ask why Lando was in her bed?”
“I would be more worried if he wasn’t, it’s where I left them,” Charles snapped impatiently. “Now get the fuck out of our room.”
Max swallowed as he digested the news and an array of emotions flitted across his face. “Where you left them…”
Lando cupped your face as he positioned himself between you and Max, talking softly as he tried to get your attention, “Look at me, love. Forget what he said, he’s wrong.”
“You’re nothing like Jos,” Charles reminded quietly in your ear, his lips brushing your neck as he spoke.
You finally dragged your eyes away from Max and met Lando’s only to see the rage you showed outwardly suppressed deep in his blue eyes. Closing your eyes, you sagged in their arms and nodded as the fight left you as quickly as it came. It was only then that you realised the shaking wasn’t coming from you but Charles and Lando. They were using you as an anchor as much as you were clinging to them like a lifesaver.
“Go away,” you said to Max as Lando buried his face in the crook of your neck, his quiet murmurings promising you their friendship was over for what he called you. “Leave us alone.”
“But-”
“As far as I am concerned, I don’t have a father, and I don’t have a brother.” Your voice was steadier than you expected it to be but it was empty, cold and dead. “I have everything I need right here.”
Max could see there was no arguing with you, your mind was set and you were stubborn. Making his way out of the room he paused beside Lando, looking at his closest friends to see they were just as disappointed as he was, only theirs was aimed at him. “You’re throwing away a decade of friendship for her?”
Charles' arms tightened around you as his back stiffened at the question and you peeked up over your shoulder to see the sadness in his eyes. “You did that, mate, the moment you disrespected the woman we love.”
“Charles, you love every woman you date. My sister is just going to be another girl you get bored with and dump at the end of the season.” Max shook his head and made his way to the door only to stop as he reached for the doorknob. “I hope you really thought this through, zusje. What happens when one of them crashes, are you going to throw away a win just to check they are alright?”
“Yes.” It was an easy question to answer. “Some things are more important than winning, which just goes to show…I’m not a Verstappen.”
You left the circuit without taking the usual team celebration photo. You left the moment the podium celebration was finished.
There had been no flood of excitement or adrenaline as you stood at the centre between Max and Lewis. You hadn’t even been able to shake your bottle of champagne to more than a fizz before taking a seat on the step and overlooking the crowd that cheered. You deserved the win, you worked hard for it, so why did you feel like shit?
You had pushed recklessly, taking corners needlessly fast so you could stay ahead of Max. You had degraded the tires uncharacteristically quick with poor management. It wasn’t a clean win. It wasn’t won for the right reasons. You had wanted to humiliate Max and a 20 second lead was the only way you could do that.
Spotting a disappointed Jos in the crowd, you lifted the bottle up to salute him before tipping it back with both hands and swallowing as much of the bubbly as you could before Calum intervened. He already had his hands full after collecting the Constructors trophy on behalf of Red Bull but he made room to take your bottle as well.
“Come on, Spitfire,” he said as he hooked an arm under yours and pulled you to your feet. “Another one for the collection.”
You forced a smile and traded your trophy for the bottle. “Can you take that down to the garage for me?”
“Sure. Where are you going?”
“Home.” Your eyes drifted to Max who was busy wiping away the confetti stuck to his hair. You had half expected him to tell everyone the truth but as the day wore on there was no breaking news or anything more than the photo of you and Charles kissing.
“Wait, hold up, wait…” he called after you but you were already descending the stairs and weaving your way out the back of the motorhomes. You stopped by the empty Red Bull space just long enough to change your clothes and grab your bag but by the time you opened the door Charles and Lando were waiting outside your driver room.
“Need an escape, love?” Lando asked as he held up the key to the McLaren sports car he had been given for the weekend. “We can beat the traffic to the airport if we leave now. Anywhere you want in the world, baby.”
You pulled your phone out of your bag and turned it on to see all the unread messages but there was one you had been waiting for and you smiled when you found a reply had come in during the race.
Of course, honey, you are always welcome home x
“Anywhere?” you asked as you put your phone away. You met their curious faces as they nodded and waited for your destination. “How would you like to meet my mum?”

Zoro hates it here.
“Tough shit,” says Nami. “You have to suffer through the evening to meet your fucking FIANCÉ.”
Zoro scowls. He’s never met the man. They’ve been engaged since he was young enough to still fight with bamboo swords. “It’s not like I’m going to marry him.”
“I keep saying a political marriage would really help your image,” Nami lectures, “but regardless, this is PROTOCOL. Your parents would be ashamed of you trying to skip out on this.”
“My parents died when I was six, and you never met them.”
“Yet I know better. Now come on.”
It’s a lavish ballroom that Zoro never uses, and he’s in clothes he never wears. He’s itchy. Standing next to his throne, as is PROTOCOL, thanks Nami, he watches the procession as they enter.
Their king is tall and clearly pompous. His outfit gaudy. His children come behind him.
Zoro’s people, his most trusted, are fanned throughout the room, but the king and his children stand a head above everyone. Zoro counts one daughter and three sons, each of them standing equally proud and in equally flashy clothes.
No, wait.
Is that a fourth son or a servant?
He’s shorter than the others, thinner, almost sickly in comparison. But he’s wearing the royal finery. His head is bowed, in contrast to theirs. A cousin maybe? Why is he here?
The king marches directly up to Zoro and does not bow, which he SHOULD do on Shimotsuki soil.
He stands straight, and says, “Crown Prince Roronoa, I present to you my children; Reiju, Ichiji, Niji, Yonji, and Sanji.”
The— the sickly pale one? HE’s the one Zoro’s been promised to?
Sanji keeps his head down, but unlike his siblings he does a slight bow upon introduction.
Zoro scowls until Nami kicks him. Then he bows back, EVER so slightly, and gestures to the room at large. “Please enjoy the evening,” he says. “You’ve come a long way.” He can feel Nami breathing down his neck. “Let me personally escort Prince Sanji, so we have time to… talk.”
He holds out his arm and Sanji, obligingly, slips his hand into the crook of Zoro’s elbow. He hears snickering behind him as he leads Sanji away.”
The crowd parts around them, and Zoro grinds his teeth. He’d really prefer not to break up with someone he’s never even met.
Still, such things must be done. Leading Sanji out onto the balcony, in the cool night air, Zoro lets his arm fall and then turns to him. “So,” he hedges. “Our parents betrothed us.”
Sanji inclines his head. “Yes, sire,” he says, staring resolutely at the floor.”
“Well I don’t know about you, but I’m my own person now, and I don’t particularly feel like getting married to someone I’ve never met.”
At that, Sanji’s eyes shoot up, wide and searching.
“So I release you from this bond,” Zoro says. “Or whatever it was Nami says I should say.”
“You—“ Sanji stutters. “N-no, wait.”
Zoro crosses his arms. “I don’t know you and you don’t know me,” he says. “I have no interest in marrying someone I’ve never met.”
“Y-you’re meeting me NOW,” Sanji cries. “You can get to know me! Give me a chance.”
He looks like he would collapse in a strong wind, already standing with one arm braced against the railing. Zoro is a warrior, he needs someone who can challenge him, not… whatever this is. “I’ve made up my mind,” he says. “Sorry you had to come all the way here.”
Sanji starts tugging on his hair. “No,” he says again. “You can’t do this! You— I’ll—“
“What?” Zoro asks. “You’ll tell daddy on me?”
Breathing heavily, Sanji looks at him with wild eyes. “Please,” he says. “I’ll— do anything. You won’t know I’m here. Just don’t—“
Then, in what seems like a snap decision, he turns around and takes off running.
Zoro follows, languidly, watching him race back through the ballroom. He figures he’ll run to his father and start telling him what a monster Zoro is, but instead Sanji takes the first door out.
Shit. Zoro speeds up. That’s the door to the rest of the castle, not the way out or the way to his family. What the hell?
He keeps his pace slow enough to not alert TOO many in the ballroom (though he sees the thunderous look Nami throws his way), but as soon as he’s through the door Sanji left through, he also takes off at a run, seeing Sanji at the end of the hallway.
The castle is enough of a maze for Zoro on a good day, he’s certain that if he slows down for even a second he’ll lose the prince somewhere in his own halls.
The one point in his favor is that Sanji does seem to truly be sickly, even at a run he’s not particularly fast. It takes three turns and a set of stairs before Zoro catches him running into an open door that he KNOWS doesn’t have an exit.
He follows Sanji in and slams the door behind him. It’s a bedroom, and Zoro knows immediately which one, namely because it’s in use.
“Hey Luffy,” Zoro says. Nami had banned Luffy from attending, to prevent “incidents”.
Luffy waves. He’s reclining on his bed with a turkey stick.
“You see a prince come in here?” Zoro asks. “Scrawny, pale, can’t take no for an answer?”
Luffy laughs through his teeth. “I don’t know about any of that,” he says. “But there’s a guy in a fancy outfit in my wardrobe.”
Aha.
Zoro rounds on the wardrobe.
One hand on each knob, he pulls it open with a flourish.
Sanji is there, curled with his knees to his chest, staring up at Zoro with watery eyes.
“Asylum!” He yelps. “I claim asylum!”
Zoro blinks. “You that ashamed of getting dumped?” He asks.
Sanji grits his teeth.
“Grant me asylum,” he says, voice firmer. “Or you’re going to be at war with Germa by sunset for killing their prince.”
“I’m not fucking killing you, I’m just—“
“I will throw myself out that window before I have to go back there.”
Luffy whistles. “I like him,” he says.
“You’re being dramatic,” Zoro growls.
“I’m a dead man if I go back there,” Sanji says. “If you’re going to take away the only chance of freedom I’ve ever had, the least you can do is grant asylum. I’ll live a beggar on your streets before I chance returning.”
He’s shaking, but Zoro sees determination in his eyes that he respects. “What’s so bad about it?” He asks. “Why do you think here would be better?”
Sanji’s hands flex around a fallen coat. “I like to think you won’t keep me in a windowless dungeon for a decade,” he says.
“I’d imagine you may even allow me more than one meal a day.”
Zoro stares at him, feeling uncomprehending. That can’t be right.
“Sounds like you should marry him,” Luffy says from the bed. “That’s not a great life.”
“What’s wrong with you?” Zoro asks. He’s looming over Sanji. “As in, what did you do to deserve that?”
Sanji blinks, then looks down, curling in on himself. “I was born of my mother’s blood,” he says. “He sees her in my eyes and he hates me for it.”
There’s a strength in him. To have lived this long. Zoro sees that and something in him gives way. He doesn’t want it to, he doesn’t want this veritable stranger to have his respect, but—
“Luffy,” he says. “Escort the Vinsmokes out of here.”
Luffy gives a crooked salute that in no way resembles the way he should refer to the crown prince. “On it, boss.”
Sanji’s grip tightens around the clothes. “Please,” he chokes out, desperation rising. “Please, you won’t even— you don’t have to even officially accept my plea for asylum, if you just turn the other way so I can—“
“Shut up,” Zoro says, taking a step back and rubbing his face.
“Fucking hell of course I wasn’t referring to you.” Luffy’s already out the door or he’d make Luffy clarify. “He’s kicking all of THEM out, you’re obviously staying here.”
“Oh…” Sanji trails off. “Th-thank you. I— I’ll take whatever position you deem acceptable. I’m an excellent chef, I can work in your kitchens! You’ll never know—“
Zoro, tired of this, reaches down and pulls Sanji out of the wardrobe. Suddenly upright, Sanji stumbles into his arms with a yelp.
“Slow down,” Zoro grouses. “You wore me down. I’ll fucking marry you.”
“You’ll— what?” Sanji, whose hands are on Zoro’s shoulders and whose face is so very close to Zoro’s own, blinks. “WHY?”
“Because your family seems like a fucking nightmare so I need to keep an eye on you,” Zoro says. He doesn’t say, and you’re strong. You survive.
He doesn’t say, your will to escape and to live makes me want to do everything to protect you.
He doesn’t say that because that would make him sound idiotic and like Sanji needs saving. He’s clearly doing that on his own.
Zoro’s just going to help him along.
He takes a step back and steadies Sanji. There’s the faint sound of shouting in the distance. Zoro grabs Sanji’s hand. “Luffy should be done soon,” he says.
“Uh,” says Sanji. “Is he going to be okay…?”
“Oh yeah, he’ll be fine.”
Zoro grabs Sanji’s hand. He squeezes it.
He says, “You seem like the type to care about wedding planning.”
Sanji seems dazed. “Uh,” he says, wavering. “I have plans.”
“Good. I don’t give a fuck. You can talk to Nami about them. Just tell me where to go and what to wear.”
Sanji fishmouths at him.
The door opens.
Luffy steps in. His shirt is a little torn and there’s leaves in his hair. “Vine Smackers are gone,” he says, giving his crooked salute to Zoro. Then he looks at Sanji. “You need me to beat up your family too?”
“Luffy you dumbass,” Zoro says. “That WAS his family.”
“I don’t have a family,” Sanji corrects, voice small but gaining confidence. “I-if you’re willing to marry someone without a family, that is.”
Zoro shrugs. “Suits me perfectly, actually. I didn’t want to be connected to that shitty country anyway.”
Sanji laughs. “Me neither.”
“You’re both weird,” Luffy says. “I’m going to raid what’s left of the dinner that I assume isn’t going to happen now.”
Then he’s gone again.
Zoro’s still holding Sanji’s hand.
Nami’s going to murder him.
He raises up the hand and kisses Sanji’s knuckles. That sounds like a protocol thing, right? No one can make fun of him.
“Come on,” he says. “I’ll introduce you to… everyone.”
He pulls Sanji out of the room, gets lost in the hallways, then finds the ballroom again.
Time to introduce his fiancé.
He’s strong. Zoro will help him be strong.

Hunter flicked his knife back and forth in between his fingers, as he contemplated the next mission. Things were … different, since you joined. Not good or bad … just different. It been about six months, and yes, the Marauder was cleaner and didn’t have that lingering smell anymore, and yes, the meals had gotten better too, because you refused to just eat the ration bars the GAR provided. And … okay, it was nice to see your smiling face in the morning, compared to the miserable faces of his brothers.
Yet, he still felt awkward around you. He wanted to laugh with you, like you could so easily with Wrecker, to have deep discussion, like you could with Tech, even philosophical discussions like you did with Echo. Hell, he’d be happy if he could just do target practice with you, like you did with Crosshair, but … every time he opened his mouth, he was curt, short tempered, and on edge.
It wasn’t even your fault, it was just him.
He stood from his seat, heading down the ramp and taking in a breath of fresh air. You were cooking dinner, doing your best to teach Wrecker that just because salt tasted good, didn’t mean he had to put in a whole table spoon full.
It made him laugh a little as you tried to explain in your most patient voice possible, that you’d fix the dinner and Wrecker could go help Tech or Crosshair with something else. It was your polite way of saying ‘go away.’
Hunter tried but he couldn’t stop the smile on his lips, as he walked over to you.
"I don't think I've ever seen you smile" you pointed out as he walked up to you. “What’s got you so happy?”
“Oh, I just saw how you were very tactful with Wrecker. It was funny.”
You shrugged trying to fight back your own laughter as you tried to fix the stew, by adding more water, “He tried. I’m grateful he’s willing to learn.”
“Need help? I’m not completely inept when it comes to cooking.”
You looked a little surprised when he asked, not that his offering to help was a real shock, it was the fact you realized this was the first time you two had a proper conversation. “Um … yeah, if you don’t mind using your handy dandy knife there, that you like flipping around so much, to cut up some of these veggies so I can add them, that’d be great.”
Hunter chuckled at your description, as he nodded, taking a seat and getting to work, “Where did you learn to cook?” He asked, hoping to get to know you a little better.
“My mom and grandmother. They were adamant that I learn how to feed an army if I ever needed to …” you chuckled, “I had a big family, back home. Usually there would be around twenty of us for dinner.”
“Twenty? Did you have a lot of siblings?”
“No. It was just me. But I had uncles, aunts, cousins, friends, neighbours, anyone and everyone who needed a meal could always come to our place for dinner. We never turned away anyone in need of a good meal.”
“Sounds nice.”
“It was …” a sadness passed your face, as you thought back to what had once been your home, until the Separatist droid army showed up, and destroyed everything you had held so dear.
Hunter saw your smile slip, it pained him to see that you had been through so much, although he hadn’t heard about it directly from you, he did overhear what had happened when you were talking with Tech. “Well we appreciate all your efforts, especially when you’re trying to teach us neanderthals how to cook.”
You giggled a little, pushing away the sad thoughts that had encapsulated your mind for a split second, “You’re not neanderthals.”
“We’re not exactly proper either. Couldn’t say, we’re exactly suited for a posh dinner.”
You shook your head as you laughed, “You don’t need to be suited for a posh dinner, you just need to show up to eat.” You smiled as you turned to look at him, smirking as you saw how perfectly he cut each vegetable.
You walked over and grabbed the tray of veggies, and dropped them into the stew, “Thanks for your help.”
“Of course. Can I ask you a question?”
“Sure”
“Why do you take care of us? I mean granted the Marauder smells a lot better, and the meals you cook are much better than the GAR rations, but … why do you do it?”
You stirred the stew as you contemplated the question, “I guess … because you feel like family to me.” You turned to look at him, truthfully, he was the only one that you didn’t think of as family, you wanted something more with him, something special, but seeing as this was the first time you two actually talked, it might be a bit far-fetched to imagine that could possibly happen. “And, I love seeing how my food makes you guys happy. Wrecker, has the biggest smile on his face, whenever he eats when I cook. Tech has this adorable blush, although he’ll never admit how much he enjoys my cooking. And Crosshair … well he always comes back for seconds; and frankly, between you and me, he needs to eat more. He’s too skinny. I could break off his collarbone if I needed.”
“I enjoy it too,” Hunter clarified as he leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees, “I might not say it, but I always look forward to your cooking.” He blushed and turned his head away, not wanting you to see how much of an effect you had on him, and not just because of your cooking.
You laughed at his reaction, "Oh, don't be cute” you teased, “I might have to walk over there and pinch your cheeks.”
Hunter started to laugh, when he realized what you said, “Wait, did you just say that I'm cute?"

Jasper
I skipped seventh period just like I skipped lunch, it hasn’t even been a week of space from her and I know I’d crumble under her gaze, her proximity. Whatever modicum of control I maintain is not enough to resist simply gravitating towards her.
Standing at my brother’s Jeep, I watch as my siblings exit the main school building along with the rest of our classmates. Why stay? Why not just run home once I decided to skip the class we share?
I have to see her, just a glance. Her scent has drifted around this fucking building all day and I’m a weak man.
Emmett, Rosalie, Alice, and I hang around our vehicles as Edward walks Isabella, my supernatural ability straining to feel any sliver of her emotions.
C’mon darlin’, I just need to lay my eyes on you for a few seconds.
Last year I would’ve written this desperation off as insanity, but she’s taken over my life and I’m tired of fighting it. I’m ready to give in, but she has to come to me on her own.
Finally, she’s walking at a fast clip, straight for her car across the parking lot with her eyes cast down and unfortunately we are not anywhere near that path.
Confusion, uncertainty, and a small inkling of sadness straightens my spine from where I was leaning against Emmett’s vehicle. A hand on my shoulder stops the half-step I take in her direction and I wheel on the person it’s attached to-
“Stay.” Emmett leaves no room for negotiation as he tosses Alice his keys and walks with a purpose in Y/n’s direction.
Frustration and possessiveness cloud my head, but I watch my girl with rapt attention.
My brother meets her passenger side door as she reaches her driver’s side door, both sliding into their respective seats at the same without a single word exchanged. She hesitates for only a second before cranking the vehicle and driving away. I don’t have to reach out to know there’s tension rolling off of her, it’s in the set of her beautiful mouth and the crinkle of her brow as she passes us on the way out of the parking lot.
Thankfully the parking lot is empty by this point, I’m not sure I could be brought to give a damn as I disappear into the woods to relieve this ache in my chest.
Reader
By the time I reach my house, I’m fuming. Why? I have no fucking idea, but Emmett hasn’t said a word the entire ride home. Maybe I’m on edge because Jasper was at school all day, but managed to avoid every single interaction he could possibly have with me.
I cut the engine and lean back in my seat, staring at the front door as the tension comes to a head.
“You got something to say-”
“Do you?” I turn and cut him off, unable to keep the sass from my tone.
His chuckle grates my nerves, “You’ve been ready to blow up all day, I’m here because I can take it. Talk to me.” The smile is gone in an instant with the last three words and it takes the wind out of my sails.
“I want him, but how do I know it won’t end the same? Nothing has changed-”
“Everything has changed, don’t you get that?” He angles his upper body to stare at me incredulously. “You’re his singer-”
“What if I wasn’t? What if I wasn’t anything special, Emmett? What if I was a normal girl?” The insecurities start to flow and I’m powerless to stop them.
“That only makes your blood irresistible to him,” he shakes his head and settles back into the seat again, “this is a conversation to have with him, Y/n. But just know that wouldn’t change anything.”
“You seem very sure of that, for someone who is not your brother.” My voice is small as rain droplets begin to splatter the windshield in a slow, mismatched pattern.
“He’s been with us for almost 60 years and I’ve never seen him like this, with anyone. You are the one and only exception, Jasper doesn’t let people in like he’s done with you.” Emmett’s golden eyes meet mine and they shine with sincerity, “This situation with you, it’s untreaded territory. Cut him some slack and hear him out, okay?”
“Did he send you to butter me up? Because it’s working.” I fidget with the peeling cuticle on my thumb, the light rain the only ambient sound.
“No, I just know my best friend needed me.”
Reader
I spent all weekend with Quil and it was much needed in order to get back to feeling somewhat normal. Hanging out with him silenced my near-constant thoughts of Jasper and I haven’t had a reprieve from those since the day I met him.
This weekend I realized, I don’t want to do this without him. I can’t do this without him, he’s too well ingrained. I’m his singer, his mate and he’s… he’s the center of my universe, the rhythm that pulses in my veins.
I won’t lie, I know our future is complicated - given our differing mortality, but if I want him, I have to accept that part of him. The dangerous part of him, the side that is driven to kill me on instinct, the side that can’t give me a future beyond a frozen one. I have to love the not-so-glamorous parts of this man too, because love doesn’t get to pick and choose what’s convenient or even comfortable.
Talking to Emmett also made me realize that that doesn’t scare me like it used to. I’ve been to hell - I know what it’s like without him, I know what it’s like to be empty, to lay my heart bare and be left hanging because I wasn’t actually ready to understand him, I was just scared to lose him. Six months ago I wasn’t ready for the ugly side of what it means to be with a vampire, I was naive to think I could ignore it. To think that I could play it safe - that as long as I didn’t put a label on what was transpiring between us, we could stay in this limbo where nothing bad could go wrong.
But then the worst happened and we didn’t have a single chance in hell to survive the aftermath.
I have to talk to him. He has to know how I feel, what I want, what I need. That I need him.

Jasper
“Dude, you gotta talk to her.”
Looking up from my most recent sketch, I spy a slightly damp Emmett leaning inside my bedroom door.
“She needs space to figure out-”
“You’ve given her space, times up. Get your girl already.” Slapping the door frame lightly to emphasize his point, he continues down the hallway to his room.
Sliding my sketchbook away on my desk and leaning back in my chair, I huff a breath and stare at the ceiling. Has a week been long enough? I don’t want to rush her in to anything before she’s ready, lord knows I couldn’t handle her rejection if she’s not.

We all were crowded around him, watching him casually mousy around the kitchen to make a sandwich as if it was any other day. As if he hadn’t just fallen from the sky like an omen after six years of being missing.
The other students were talking to him but I didn’t hear a word. I was just staring. He’d been missing from our lives for six years after being woven so well he was involved of every aspect of it. He wasn’t here for Ben’s death, he wasn’t hear for all the fighting after Vik’s book, he was just…gone.
That night, the night before…before he ran away, he talked to me.
Me and Five were always a bit closer than I was with the other siblings. He was an ass, sure, but I knew he had my back. I could trust him.
That night I was laying in bed when the door creaked open. The lamp turned on and I saw Five. I sat up against the headboard and he came to sit on the foot of my bed, both of us facing each other with our legs crossed, a common routine.
“What’s up?” I whispered
“Dad’s pissing me off again. He’s such an ass. He thinks he knows everything, but he doesn’t.”
I laughed and leaned back against the headboard
“This is about time travel again, isn’t it?”
“It’s my power, not his, so how the hell would he have any say in when I should use it?? It’s not like he can do it. Why’s he so sure I can’t?”
“I think he doesn’t understand it so he wants you to stay away. It’s him protecting you…probably.” I shrugged
Honestly, we’d had that conversation too many times. I sat there wishing he would just get over it. The irony of that is, I would spend the next six years wishing to have any conversation with him again.
I expected him to keep complaining but he didn’t. He grabbed my hand and rubbed his thumb against the back of it, his eyes looking tenderly in mine.
“I want to time travel, Eight. I’m going to. I want you to come with me. We can go somewhere—sometime where dad won’t be able to control us! We can be together, without everyone else.”
I just stared completely frozen. I couldn’t see my face but I could only attribute it to a deer in the headlights look. There was a thick silence for a moment and it felt like my heart was higher in my chest, like everything was about to change.
He leaned in slowly and pressed his lips to mine. I wouldn’t call it a kiss. He probably didn’t know what kissing was and just took it as how he’d read it in some book. It was the most literal definition, simply pressing his lips to mine.
“Come with me.” He whispered
“I-I”
He pulled away and started to look angry. He was never angry at me but he was then. He was angry I didn’t agree immediately. He was angry I didn’t feel the same. I wanted to feel the same, but I didn’t.
“Five…we’re siblings…”
“No we’re not! You know we’re not! Don’t say crap like that!” He whispered angrily
“We might as well be. We have the same parents, grew up together, everyone calls us siblings—“
“But we’re not!” He interjected “I don’t love you like that!”
I looked at him solemnly.
There was a thick silence for a moment and it felt like my heart was higher in my chest, like everything was about to change.
“…Five, I don’t love you like that…” I whispered, my voice wavering with the threat of tears
After that, he stormed out. That was the last thing I said to him. The next morning he wouldn’t talk to me. At breakfast, he stabbed a knife in the table and declared that he wanted to time travel. Everyone just sat and silently stared while he ran off, never to be seen again.
Until today. Until now. Now, where I sat and silently stared while he gave uninterested responses to good questions. Then he looked at me. He was older now but his eyes looked the same as that night. With one stare he answered the question that had been panging in my head since he left: Was it my fault?
“Eight, I want to talk to you privately.”

don't make me wait | copia x reader
summary: you make copia wait, he’s not happy about that. or alternatively: "DOM COPIA BREEDING AGAINST A DOOR" (powered by @sweatandwoe)
content: 1.5k words, afab!reader, dom!copia, smut, 18+ only, MDNI or I block you, breeding kink, rough sex, p in v, some mild degradation, they're established
Masterlist – Ao3 link
You would keep Copia waiting. You knew you would. And yet you agreed to help a desperate Sibling study for their Latin test to avoid the wrath of Papa Secondo. You could not help it, not when they asked you with tears in their eyes, lips quivering, already shaking. And that is why you spent the past two hours in the library explaining grammar rules to a novice.
Only when the bells start chiming six do you realize that you’re not just ten minutes late to your… little meeting… but a whole hour.
There is no time to feel guilty about it. You run down the corridors in nervous anticipation, only slowing down when you reach the eerily quiet wing that houses the offices of the high-ranking clergy members. You enter Copia’s office without knocking, only to find him already waiting by the entrance. Startled, you don’t fight him when he immediately pulls you further inside and slams the door shut again. The harsh sound echoes in your head like an explosive and you squeal in surprise, almost stumbling over your own feet.
“I was coming to look for you,” Copia states and then he’s suddenly pushing you against the hard wooden door, flipping you around until his front is pressed against your back, caging you in. You have to turn your head so your nose won’t get crushed and impair your breathing. Cheek squished and one eye squeezed close, you try to catch a glimpse of him. But Copia is busy. The lock clicks, the familiar sound much closer to your ear than usual as he traps you inside of his stuffy office. You shudder in excitement. His breath is hot against your burning skin when he brings his mouth to your ear, lips grazing the shell.
“I want you,” he growls. “I’ve wanted you all f-fucking day. And you make me wait?”
You whimper as his teeth meet the skin of your neck, slowly wandering down the slope of your shoulder where he stops, taking a deep breath.
“Do you not want me?” he asks, biting you through the fabric of your habit. “Tell me, amore, have you grown tired of your Papa? Is that why you come late?”
You whimper pathetically, arching into him. He’s already hard against your ass, pushing in even more as his teeth dig into your flesh until it’s bordering painful. The thought of his strong jaw makes you suck in a sharp, lust-filled breath.
“Words,” he snarls. “Tell me, amore. Tell me you want me.”
“I want you. I want you so bad.”
He groans, dragging his hot mouth over your neck again, restless and hungry and searching. He bites the soft skin just below your ear, even harder than before, pulling at your skin before he releases. “Say it again, tesoro. Say it. Make me believe you.”
“I want you,” you whisper. “Please, I want you so much, Copia.”
He grunts, pulling back only to slam you against the door again. “It’s Papa.”
You cry out, fingers sprawled over the smooth wood for more support. “I want you so much, Papa. I want– I n-need you.”
“Again,” he growls. “Say it.”
“I want you, Papa, I want you. I need you.”
His hand finds yours and he weaves your fingers together, sliding your joint hands over your head only to grab your other hand as well, rendering you immobile as he traps them beneath his strong palm. The angle is uncomfortable, your breasts hurt from the way they are squeezed against the solid door and you know you’ll find purple bruises all over your body tomorrow.
“I’m going to fuck you now,” Copia says. “And I want you to repeat your words with every thrust, amore, you understand? You beg for me like a good little whore. You beg because you made your Papa wait.”
“Y-yes.”
He groans in annoyance. “Yes, what?”
“Yes, Papa. I’m sorry, Papa.”
You hear him work his pants open with his free hand, knuckles rubbing against your ass every few seconds without providing any sort of relief. It takes a while until you finally hear the buckle of his belt and then he’s hiking up your skirts so roughly that his nails bite into your soft ass cheek. You cry out when his hand finally meets your soaked panties, pushing them to the side only to slide two fingers into your dripping hole without warning. You keen, clench around him, unable to hide just how needy you are by now.
“Oh, you like that, sì? You’re so starved for your Papa.”
“Hmmm.”
“What did I tell you?” His voice has an unfamiliar edge to it, rougher, deeper, a timbre that has your whole pussy throbbing. “Speak.”
“Please, Papa, I n-need you. Need you inside of me, please.”
“Say that you want my cock, amore. Say it.”
You swallow, throat dry and scratchy from creating all these desperate sounds. “I want your cock, Papa. Please.”
He removes his fingers, giving you no time before his cock slides in, all the way until his whole length is buried deep inside of you. Two seconds to adjust, then he pulls out and slams back in, hard and relentless. You cry out, nails digging into the unyielding wood of the door until they hurt.
“So tight, fuck.” His free hand finds your hip, kneading the doughy flesh as he adjusts. Suddenly he gives you a hard smack to help you remember. The sound echoes in the otherwise quiet room just like the stinging pain lingers on your skin.
You speak without even thinking. “I want you so bad, Papa. Please, please fuck me.”
“That’s it. You learn, finally.”
The intermission is over. Wet, obscene sounds fill the silent office, orchestrated by Copia’s unrelenting rhythm. He fucks you like he’s been desperate to do so all day, rough, hammering thrusts that would hurt if it weren’t for the way he’s hitting you just right, dragging the tip of his cock over your sweet spot again and again. You give him what he wants, join in on his symphony with your cries and whimpers, followed by the occasional please and I need you, Papa, I want you so much. Ordinarily, you would be embarrassed that anyone walking by his office door can hear you, but you’re too far gone to care now. Every stroke carries you closer to your release and you can tell he’s close too by the way his grunts become needy and off-key.
You ignore the pain in your cheek, the pain in your fingers, the way your knees are giving out underneath you. All you can focus on is how good it feels and then he’s suddenly pulling your lower body into him with his palm against your abdomen, pushing in even deeper. You involuntarily arch your back into a painful angle but it’s too good, especially once his hand snakes under your habit, searching, warm and still wet with your juices. Once his thumb grazes your clit you come undone. Your muscles spasm and you start shaking violently as you find your release, crying in high-pitched whimpers. Copia lets out a string of curses, faltering in his rhythm.
“Beg,” he says. “Beg for my come, ask me to b-breed you like a bitch.”
You’re struggling to comprehend but another growl has you babbling. “Come for me, Papa. Please breed me, let me have your s-seed.”
Your words have him moaning desperately, a sound that makes you clench even harder around him, and suddenly he stops dead in his tracks. Another moan and he’s spilling inside of you, rope after rope, twitching wildly. You almost don’t hear his next words over your panting, even though his mouth is still right by your ear.
“I love you,” he whispers. “Oh, how I love you.”
You smile, completely spent. “I love you, too.”
Copia slowly unravels your bodies and you flinch when he pulls out, his come trickling down your thighs immediately. But you’re more concerned about your aching arms as you carefully bring them back down, your joints complaining with every centimeter. Copia reaches for your wrists, rubbing slow circles before he starts massaging your numb limbs to increase the blood flow. You can’t help but stare at his disheveled form, hair tousled and lipstick smudged, his wet, softening dick still out.
Copia presses a soft kiss to your palm before he drops your arms, inspecting your cheek instead. “Does it hurt bad? I know I went a little crazy on you, tesorino.”
“It’s fine, I like it like that,” you reply, but when he touches your bruised cheekbone you still hiss.
Copia hums but it’s not a happy sound. “I’m sorry, amore.”
You softly shake your head and pull him in for a proper kiss. He immediately sinks into your embrace, holding you like the most precious thing, and you’re happy for the support. His lips are cautious, soothing, providing all the softness he lacked earlier. You already can’t wait to return to your quarters and sink into the silky sheets of your shared bed.
When you break away, Copia rests his forehead against yours, nuzzling your nose. “You really should not make an old man wait like this,” he says. “I get so worked up, amore.”
You can’t help but grin. “Actually, my love, I think I should be late way more often.”

Okay, despite what the Big Six play it off to be (that Hera, Zeus, Hades, Demeter, or Hestia are stronger/the strongest), each of them intimately know that Poseidon’s the strongest. Without nuance or question. Who’s the strongest? Poseidon. Yes, he’s an asshole and yes, all the others are very strong in their own ways but Poseidon tanks them all and by a huge margin. There’s no question to it. It’s not even close even if you match it to a particular skill, Poseidon has that sheer power to him that he could flatten the earth if he truly wanted to and then completely ignore the Primordials that hate him
(It’s why Zeus side-eyes his children so badly, because Poseidon’s got so much power and strength in him that his children could easily match them in power. It’s not paranoia if it’s a healthy amount of awareness 🤷♂️)
So! First and foremost, your opinion is your own! And if you like Poseidon being stronger than his siblings, that’s totally your prerogative!
But for me, I dislike that narrative. Even in PJOverse when people argue that Percy is the strongest, I’m not a fan. I find it unfair and dismissive to the others – mostly Jason since he’s usually the one everyone snarks in favour of Percy.
Nonetheless, back to Poseidon. One way you can write him being seen as the strongest of his siblings in a way that doesn’t weaken them is by pointing out that Poseidon is just more lawless than they are. He doesn't hold back, but the others do. So the full strength of his power is seen more frequently and is feared more.
Zeus is the god of law and order, god of justice. He has rules, he has beliefs. He might limit his power because he’s seen what uncontained power can do through their father’s hand. Additionally he’s the king of gods. He has to lead by example, so he must follow the rules he sets. He won’t go all out unless there’s no other choice.
Hades is busy with the dead and doesn’t get involved in much upper world stuff, so the strength of his power goes unnoticed by the others because, post Titan war, he just doesn’t display it.
Hestia is a kind soul. She doesn’t have an interest in decimating the world and didn’t enjoy the fighting during the Titan war. So even when she did fistfight their enemies and set fires that burned people to ashes instead of warming them through a hearth, she held back the strength of it. She did the bare minimum to cause harm, the minimal amount to win.
Hera is queen. I also think that she is perfectionist, and like her husband enjoys rules and order (but maybe not to the extent that he does, lol). She has an image to maintain. Being a ruthless violent person capable of destroying the world is not how you maintain order and it demeans her image. It’s not how you keep your followers beholden to you. She is the mother figure – mothers do not wish to be obeyed out of fear, they should be obeyed out of love, out of respect.
I think, compared to the other four, Demeter is most likely to go full out with her power. But she is not goddess of the earth, she is agriculture. Grain. Harvest. Fertility. So her scope of power is a little more limited compared to her younger brother. However!! I would never think of her as weaker than him. Remember, she manifested an entire new season out of her grief and rage. She brought forth winter, famine, and mass death in an agricultural society. She no doubt brought cities and towns to ruin because of that.
The only way it stopped was because Zeus ordered Hermes to collect Persephone since he could not stop his own sister from destroying society in her grief. That’s some serious strength. But! I will say, I think while Demeter’s expression of power fluctuates dependent on her emotion, as Poseidon’s does, she is much more levelheaded than he is. Agriculture, farming, harvesting – it requires structure, understanding, logic. You can’t treat it willy nilly. And so she is similar in nature. Much more structured, focused.
In summation:
Zeus and Hera are king and queen of Olympus, the ones who maintain order, who dictate the law. They lead by example and so do their best to follow the laws they have implemented. Additionally, since people typically follow the rules they’ve laid down, there’s less need to go all out, and they may prefer to rule out of respect and adoration, rather than fear
Hestia is a kind empathetic soul. Her core nature is fire and full-blown fire is destructive. It harms. So she keeps her self small and limited so the hearth may warm others, and not burn them or their homes
Hades is unseen by the others. Any displays of strength or power go unnoticed because he lives underground and does not get involved as frequently in things as the others do. Not to mention, the underground is his kingdom, so as with Hera and Zeus, there’s less need to go all out because the people who live there follow his rule
Demeter’s powers are based in her emotion, but her scope of power is limited, and her experience of emotion is not as fluid as the ocean. It has stability, like the earth, and as with agriculture, she maintains herself in a healthy manner to be as fruitful and productive as she can be. She is more likely to go full out than the others, but not as much as Poseidon
Poseidon is the ocean. He obeys no one, he follows no rules, he crosses every line. His emotions whiplash left and right and he will express them as viciously as he sees fit whenever he sees fit
So yeah, while Poseidon can appear to be the strongest of the six, I think that’s fully because 1) he displays his power more frequently than they do, and 2) the others contain themselves better than he does.
Regarding their kids in PJOverse, this can be seen as:
Zeus’s children are similar to him in that they do not go out all unless they have to, focusing on orderliness, command, and strategy
Hades is the underworld, the underworld has so many gods beneath its wing, so his kings have a large scope of power and tend to limit themselves to different areas of their father’s domains for sake of ease. In Nico’s case, he is raised and trained by ghosts and gods, people who do not understand that he has mortal limits and don’t train him within those limits
Poseidon’s kids are more emotional, more active, more chaotic. They may be seen as more powerful because they react with their power more than their cousins, but that doesn’t mean they are more powerful. If a full out battle were to occur between them (save for maybe Demeter’s kids) and they were all equally as trained (i.e. all have the same level of experience), then it would be up in the air on who would win
As for Demeter’s kids, we’re never really exposed to them in canon, aside from Katie, and we don’t see her do much of anything. Perhaps they aren't born as often and so they can’t train each other the way other demigods would because they don't overlap, or because they don’t view themselves as strong as their cousins, or they simply would rather focus on growing strawberries than tap into the “hey maybe I can get everyone’s food to rot into ash because I’m upset” side of their mother. They might even be aware of that part of themselves and deeply dislike it because it goes against their core nature
As I said, it’s totally your prerogative to characterize them as you see fit, or however works best for you. I mean I gave Zeus anxiety so, lol, I’d be one to talk if I said otherwise, but, personally, I find it more interesting to view them as all equals in strength, just varying in display.
Besides, mythos wise, we know that Zeus is likely the strongest given, when they tried to betray him, they failed. And there were at least three of them to his one – Poseidon, Apollo, and Hera. Hera was strung up above the stars, dangling in humiliation above chaos, and Poseidon and Apollo were stripped of their immortality and sentenced to servitude in building that wall for whatshisname. If Poseidon were stronger than his little brother, I doubt Zeus would’ve been able to pull that off. Granted, in general, I don’t think Zeus should’ve been able to strip anyone born of godhood of their godliness but like, whatever.

Father: Meet at the house. All of you.
Glancing at the text as Bucky pulls into my father’s drive behind my brothers.
“What could this be?” Clint wonders as he pulls open the door for me.
“No idea Packman. Maybe it’s wedding stuff.” I shrug. But don’t miss the glance between the three of them. “Do you know?” I lift a brow at them.
“No idea.” Steve cuts his eyes to my brothers gathering outside their car.
“I’m sure you’re right, wedding stuff.” Bucky comes towards me, slipping his hand to the small of my back, guiding me forward.
“Ah huh.” I glance at him before my brothers. Becca looks to be edging into a nervous breakdown.
“Don’t go getting a head of yourself.” TC chuckles next to me.
I eye him slowly as we round the side of the house.
Something is off.
“You know if I find out you’re lying to me, I’ll torch all of your asses.” I comment cutting between my siblings, leaving the boys with them.
“Nothing to lie about smalls.” Howie’s quick to reply.
I turn on dime, forcing them all to stop.
Gwen looks down at her belly. Becca picks at her thumb nail. All six boys have blank looks. Wanda’s head tips looking past me.
“Something wrong, smalls?” My father’s voice making me turn around.
George, my soon to be father in law standing next to him. Another man with them I hadn’t met before.
“If my siblings come up missing, I’ve torched them and put them in the woods with brock.” I shrug, walking towards the three men. George chuckles, pulling out a chair for me at the patio table.
“Now that’s no way to handle your problems.” My father sighs.
“At least she makes jokes about Brock now.” Peter smirks pulling a seat out for Gwen.
“You’ll be next big brother.” I blow him a kiss, as Bucky sits next to me. He chuckles, reaching over to pat my thigh.
“You can’t put bodies in the same place, that’s how they get found.” He reminds me.
Glancing over at him, I smirk. “Bet Frankie knows some places extra secluded.” My father and George exchanging a look, smirking at one another.
“You weren’t kidding when you said she is ruthless.” The strange man comments. I notice Wanda isn’t sitting.
“Red?” I sit up, leaning forward.
My father nods, looking from the man to Wanda.
“What are you doing here?” She snaps suddenly.
My eyes cut to my father.
“Who is he?” TC stays standing, watching the man.
“My names Logan.” He spoke in a deep, gruff voice. Dark hair greying. Well built, a salt and pepper beard.
“He works for my father.” Wanda adds.
“Oh fuck.”
“Shit.”
“Fuck.”
“What’s he doing here?” I ask, looking at my father.
He clears his throat, adjusting in his seat.
“If he’s dead just say it and leave.” Wanda huffs, crossing her arms over her chest.
“He’s not dead.” George assures her.
“Your brother,” my father starts, only to be cut off by four voices.
“Brother?!”
“What brother?!”
“Wait a minute!”
“Hold the fuck on."
“Wanda has a twin, his name is Pietro.” I explain for them.
“How do we not know this?” Bucky looks to me.
I shrug. “Wasn’t important information at the time.”
“Pietro is getting released. Early.” My father finishes, nodding slowly.
“Fuck.”
“Me.”
Wanda and I blink at each other.
The guys look between us
“Released from where?” Steve wonders.
“Prison.” Peter replies.
“Your twin is doing prison time?” Bucky’s brow jumps up.
“With her father.” Howie adds.
It’s strangely quiet for a moment.
“The Russian Mafia is coming to town, boys. Strap in, a hurricane is calmer.” George shakes his head, looking at his boys. The three of them look from one another to my brothers.
“What’s this mean?” I straighten my spine.
Logan looks from Wanda to me. “Her wedding is to be done in the coming weeks.” Wanda’s hand drops quickly, Howie quickly grasps hold of one. “And he’s looking for an audience, with the Stark.” He nods. I look to my father. Only he’s looking at me. Glancing around, they all are.
“Me?” Snapping my eyes to Logan.
“Even in prison, he’s heard about you.” Logan nods.
“I’m not in charge yet.” It comes out like a whisper.
My father snickers. George chuckles softly.
“Oh darling if you think you’re not in charge, you’re wrong. Everything pushed at that table is with you in mind.” George levels me with a look.
I look to Bucky. He smirks at me.
“You’ll start sitting in and taking matters into hand in coming days.” My father explains.
“What?” I jump up.
My brother’s smirks at me.
“It’s only time you start running things, little miss.” My father smirks. I blanch for a second. “I’m not married. You’re not retiring.” I can’t quite grasp what’s being told to me.
“You’re marrying a tables son. You are the center of The Saintz and Brothers, as well as your own girl gang.” My father waves his hand at the table. Glancing around slowly.
“He isn’t wrong, Sweets.” Steve smirks at me.
Bucky slowly pulls me back down into my seat. “You know this, CK knew this, Brock knew this, Ben knows it. You are the push of all of us. Without question,” he smiles softly at me “since you walked into Saints.”
“We told you before.” Clint grins. “You want to take over, we’ll take anyone down and build you a thrown.” He shrugs.
“You know we back you on anything.” Howie winks at me.
“Ball up baby sister, you said you wouldn’t take over without the guys. It’s time to take over.” Peter smiles.
Looking to Wanda, Gwen and Becca.
Becca smirks at me. “And crush anyone who steps to you.”
When my eyes drift to TC, he smirks, shrugging. “You know I’m your right hand, no matter what comes.”
Leaning back in my chair, nodding slowly. “Fine.”
My father and George exchange a look, looking back at me.
“Just fine?” George chuckles.
“Smalls?” My father lifts a brow at me.
“My way.” Cocking my brow at him.
They laugh, nodding.
“That’s our girl.” George laughs.
“She already has a right hand?” Logan looks to my fathers.
“Problem with it?” TC cuts his look to him.
“Tony, your girl has her own mafia family.” Logan shakes his head. My father’s smirks, nodding.
“Spread the word too.” I lean forward, staring directly at him. “Speak it like gospel or what the fuck ever, make sure it’s known to all.” I warn him. He stares at me for a second, long and hard before he nods slowly. “Fuckers around here know don’t play with me or mine. Look what happened to the Kasady family.” I smile smugly at him.
“Like a fucked up Grim Brothers fairy tale.”
Howie licks his lips, grinning he looks to Peter, a cold look in his twin brothers’ eyes, smirking.
“Make it a warning. Make sure they know, they fear it. Like our father, only so much worse.” Peter tips his chin.
“I heard she’s called Satan.” Logan smirks at Peter.
“I am.” I reply, staring back at him. “Don’t ever second guess it, either.” I cut my eyes around the table, stopping on Bucky, before I stand, leaving the table, TC follows me.

I am not a baby!! (Yes you are)
(Ao3 link) (Masterpost) (Previous) (Next)
(Part six people!!!)
Batting away a pod of stalkers that didn't get the memo he wasn't food Duke sighed. Rarely persistent predators, normally all it would take to scare them away was a slap from his tail. But with all the chaos that'd happened in such a short time period, they were agitated, attacking him more frequently much to his dismay and his sibling's entertainment. His face heated as he felt laughter erupt into the bond.
"Are the stalkers okay?" Damian questioned demandingly.
"I- They're still trying to maul me?" He replied, taking a second to whack a stalker, its mouth wide open ready to attempt biting his tail off.
"I think a Mesmer wandered from one of the nearby cave systems," He proposed, shaking the attacking stalkers off of him and watching with bared teeth as the fish finally realized they bit off more than they could chew leaving. A Mesmer would explain the stalker's agitation, their hypnotism and eventual biting tended to tick a lot of creatures off.
"So the glow from earlier was just from a Mesmer...?" Dick questioned, disappointment flooding into the bond.
"It was about the size of a Mesmer... Maybe smaller?" Duke started, peaking into the egg from before, no sign of anything being inside at all. " I didn't get to look at it, I was too busy being mauled," Duke complained, turning to glower at a stalker lurking beside him.
"You don't seem very certain Duke," Dick began, "Did something happen?"
Duke froze, staring intently at one of the smooth crystal-like slabs glowing dimly from inside the egg. "Yeah, I heard one of the little noises from the...you know?" The babies carried these around with them, it would make a little noise. A string of little chirps and clicks, and the baby would panic most often dying soon after.
"I think it was from one of the dead ones,"
'one of the dead ones' god he felt disgusting just saying it. But that's all he really could say. None of them lived long enough for them to know anything about them. They couldn’t pin personality and preferences to any of them like they had before! None of this batch lived long enough to fight reapers or watch plants and animals with curious awe.
Dick’s silence was deafening, hope dying slowly. It was like being stabbed, Dick was the one who so desperately wanted a new baby sibling to come out of this tragedy.
“Hey, I-“
“Father wants you two to join him patrolling,” Damian interrupted.
“Aren’t Cass, Steph, and Tim already doing that?”
Damian scoffed, “They have their own territories to patrol Thomas” Damian snapped. “The hell hole was blocked off!”
“And that means…?” Duke questioned, trailing off as the younger scoffed.
“Any idiot with a brain could understand that means we have to watch for sea dragons,”
Terror settled in his stomach. “Those things are real?!” He screeched, gills flaring.
“Real and hungry. What do you think is going to happen when they no longer have a fresh supply of reapers to snack on?” Damian mused and Duke could almost see the sharp-toothed grin on the youngers face
“Well I’m hoping they start eating rocks instead but I’ve gotta feeling you’re going to tell me otherwise.”
“It’s going to wander through the lost river and eat everything in the crater that moves,” Damian warned.
“Damian quit scaring Duke," Dick chimed in exasperatedly.
" I'm not!" Damian protested.
"You quite clearly are, Baby fish!" Dick replied voice laced with faux authority.
"It's not my fault he asked a stupid question!"
"Wait..." He started, pushing himself off the ground, flicking his tail to glide through the kelp forests. " Are we or are we not going to be eaten by a sea dragon?"
"No Duke, they only need to eat large meals every so often,"
"If you see one outside the lava zones switch forms and swim away. We're faster, they won't see us as something worth chasing" Dick explained.
"Oh..." That was relieving, the amount of damage a sea dragon could potentially cause him was terrifying. Precursors had made the fatal mistake of messing with one and you don't exactly see any of them around anymore.
"Why does Bruce need us then?" Duke could almost hear the infuriated shriek from here.
"What part of precursor activity screams 'business as usual'?"
"Be nice you two," Dick warned. Duke shook his head, gliding his way toward the impact site.
"I think he's just bitter that he's the one who was tasked with watching the shallows" Duke teased, an uproar of laughter flooding the bond at Damian's offended squawk.
"At least I won't have to deal with the reapers!" Damian bragged
"You won't if you'd get your ass to the shallows Demon spawn," Jason piped up.
"Plenty of reapers in the dunes kid,"
"Snitch,"
"Slacker,"
Duke snickered as he slithered into the crash zone. Murky waters, from the massive amounts of sand yet to settle at the seabed. Chunks of metal littered the impact site an egg floating upside down yet not a trace left of the red blood that spilled into the ocean the other day. Reapers circled the site, teeth snapping at anything they saw.
A blur of red entered his peripherals, Jason used his horn to stab through a chunk of metal before launching it full force at a charging reaper. A loud snap as the metal hit its target shrapnel spray slicing into a shrieking reaper.
"These fuckers are getting bolder every single day," Jason laughs humorlessly. Mandibles snap, teeth gnash, reaper screaming louder and louder as it starts circling the two of them. "I almost miss the Sea dragon," Jason joked. A gnarled pinkish burn scar on his left side, dorsal fin torn off and smaller burns littering Jason's body told him he would never in fact "Miss the sea dragon,"

BillFord Fic 2
this is the second part ig
The shack was a quite the distance away from the lab. As many questions that swelled in the scientist’s lungs, he kept silent as everyone had. He trusted his own family and they’ve been here longer than he has. He could sense their weariness of danger. This route definitely had some sound sensitive beings that would eat them alive the second they even whispered.
Soos put Dipper down and ushered him inside along with everyone else. Closing the door behind them. Ford expected him to blockade the door or at least and he gave his brother a questioning look.
“What about-“
“Oh don’t worry about that, your nephew took care of it.” Stanley cut his brother off, emphasizing the word ‘nephew’. Ford assumed he was expecting some sort of shocking reveal where he would look at him in shock. But he didn’t take into account that Ford already knows about his niece and nephew through traveling through other timelines. How would he know?
“H-hi! I’m D-Dipper! So you’re the author! And you’re… supposed to be dead. Grunkle Stan… didn’t Bill… say…” The nervous excitement in the 13-year-old’s voice vanished as it was replaced by confusion. The kind of weary uncertainty that sends chills up anyone’s back. Especially for scientists who are particularly familiar with the name ‘Bill Cipher’. Ford felt his hands begin to shake as he looked towards Stanley. When did he talk to Bill? Did he make a deal? Was Bill listening right now?
“Ford. Welcome to Weirdmagedon…” Stan sighed out with a defeated look on his face.
“He’s- He’s out?! This… wasn’t just… oh dear god…! Stanley, how did this happen?!” Ford ran his fingers through his hair as his pupils grew smaller. Stanley sighed and shook his head.
“We’ve got a lot to talk about… but first…” without any warning, Stanley smacked Ford across the face. “Where were you?! Why did- You had no right to leave me!” Ford growled and grabbed the hand that assaulted him.
“Leave you?! You pushed me into the portal Stanley! You might not even be my Stan! I’ve been trapped, traveling different timelines for over 20 years! I’ve dealt with the time police, different versions of you! Do you know how many times I’ve watched these kids die, Stanley? I had to fight your zombified version of yourself from eating me alive! You ruined my life! I-…” Stanford paused with a sigh. Did he say too much? He glanced at everyone’s expressions. He realized something. He didn’t even take into account the horrified face of his dear nephew who silently listened.
“…where’s Mabel…?” Ford felt his chest tighten up. Was she already gone? Did it have something to do with the giant floating zodiac ball? Did this hellish Timeline tear the siblings apart again? Even the questions Ford spoke aloud were left unanswered as the tension filled silence latched itself onto the room.
“Look dudes! Dudes! Hear me out- let’s play 20 questions.” Soos nonchalantly sauntered between the two and put a hand on Ford’s shoulder.
“Doo do-do. There you go dude. Just relax.” Soos led Ford to a random box of rations and sat him down on it. The action allowed the rest of the crew to view the large scratch on his back. Wendy winced.
“Oh- yikes. That doesn’t look too good… I’ll grab the med kit. You guys… uh… work things out, yeah? Cool? Cool.” Wendy excused herself from the room as everyone continued to sit in silence. After about five minutes Soos stepped in to encourage the intended conversation.
“Mr. Pines… uh… fake Mr. Pines. Why don’t you ask Mr. Pines a question…?” Soos suggested, silently urging the twins to coexist in at least semi-harmony.
“I’M the fake!?” Stanford exclaimed and angrily jolted from his box. The sudden movement was followed by a burning sensation on his wound. The man sighed irritated but sat back down to re-ask his question. “…Stan… Where’s Mabel…?” He lifted a six-fingered hand up to his face to rub his temples as the other removed his glasses. It was clear he was already assuming the worst of his niece. After a long moment of silence, the youngest in the room spoke up.
“She’s trapped.” Somehow this kid could make Ford tense up like a twig or loose like water with every sentence he said. The Grunkle couldn’t help a small sigh of relief from escaping him as he looked up at Dipper, motioning for him to continue. Dipper lowered his head before going to the blinds of the Mystery shack and pulling them aside. “We believe she’s stuck in there.” Dipper explained, also bothering to show a picture of the out of place bubble with his sister’s zodiac on it. Ford nodded gazing through the glass.
“My turn.” Stan spoke up amidst the conversation. “Where were you?” Stan walked over to the fridge as he asked his question. He hooked his hand on the top of it as he shuffled through it- his hand clenching around it while the other found a soda. Stanley sighed and opened the can as he flopped into his heavenly recliner. Ford had no issue telling Stan this information… as long as he didn’t ask for details. But due to his most recent outburst, Ford doubted that he’d be asked about it soon.
“After I was… sucked into the portal I found myself back here. But it wasn’t my world. At the time I didn’t know that and messed up many timelines. It seemed that every timeline I got sucked into… it seemed to naturally want to kick me out. I call this the natural law of anomaly removal. Then I got arrested by the Time Police. I call that the unnatural law of anomaly removal.” Stanford was caught by Dipper’s excited squeaky voice.
“Oh! We know them!” Dipper exclaimed. Stanford’s eyebrows raised as he looked at Stan as if looking for confirmation. He immediately sputtered up the words sprouting up his throat and his brother did the same.
“You do?” The twins glared at each other from across the room as their voices synched up. Stanford was suddenly hit with a heart churning thought. Dipper wasn’t referring to anyone in the room when he said ‘we’. The Stan’s glares morphed into looks of pity as Dipper began to explain the encounter.
“So me and… my sister were at a fair.” Grunkle Stan made sure to cut in.
“I hosted it.” Dipper continued, not acknowledging the remark.
“And there was some guy there with a time tape measurer.” Dipper flipped through Ford’s old Journal to his added parts and showed a drawing of the tape measurer he just mentioned. “We may or may not have used it to… change the past a little bit… but the only timeline where I got what I wanted was when M- my sister lost waddles.” Ford smiled. He’s glad that the kids at least learned a lesson from this. “Oh but then the guy we stole the tape measurer from wanted revenge so we participated in Globnar.” Ford sputtered. These kids participated in the death battle!?
“Blog- what’s-a-whoosits?” Grunkle Stan asked, slightly sitting up in his recliner. This time his brother answered, pulling out his current journal.
“Globnar.” Ford corrected, “The gladiatorial combat game in Time Baby’s domain. It’s used to determine justice. If you win you get a time wish. You kids must’ve been lucky to be spared-“ Dipper immediately went to correct him.
“Oh- no. We did win.”
“You did?” Ford raised an impressed eyebrow.
“Yep!”
“Well then what did you wish for?” This question was particularly itching at Ford, if he had the chance to compete he probably would’ve wished for the death of Bill Cipher. Or maybe some other grueling fate for the interdimensional demon to suffer for all eternity.
“We gave it to Soos.” Dipper said simply.
“Well?” Ford asked, turning to said repair man.
“Oh. I just wished for the little dudes to be fixed up after getting so banged up for me on my birthday. Hehe. Oh- and this infinite slice of pizza.” Soos shrugged, taking the pizza out of his back pocket and taking a bite. Everyone nodded and shrugged in perfect agreement except for Stan.
“Woah, woah, woah. We’ve been out there risking our lives to scavenge for food- only for you to have an infinite slice of pizza in your back pocket this whole time!?” Stanley stood up and looked at Soos accusingly.
“Look dude. It was a personal pizza. It’s not my rules.” Soos took another hunk of pizza off from the slice which instantly regenerated.
“Well, can’t argue with that.” Stan sat back down.
“How did Bill get here?” Ford asked suddenly. If his twin’s chair didn’t have a back he would’ve fell off the back of it. He remained silent for a second- trying to correctly stitch his words together to soften the blow as much as possible. Sadly for Stanley, he was a terrible tailor.
“Stanley! Answer me.” Ford exclaimed, sitting up from his box again. He would’ve approached if it wasn’t for the large scratch on his back tearing through his coat. He winced and sat back down as he continued to glare at his twin.
“I opened it. But I only opened it to save you! I’ve been spending the last 30 years trying to get you back and I-“
“Stan, you were using my house as a fake museum. You read the Journals! You should’ve known the risks!” Stanford cut in with a blunt expression.
“Oh… right… the multi-timelines… or whatever…” Stanley sighed at the reminder. His brother already knew most of what had happened since he’s been traveling different universes and observing them. Stanley still didn’t totally understand what happened, but he knows that his brother knows about the basics of his life.
“Were you out of your mind Stanley? You nearly caused the end of the world! You endangered the kids! And now look where it got you! Bill is out there causing suffering to this entire town. You know or at least have some idea what that mind demon is like!” Stanford continued to rant as Stanley averted his gaze to the floor.
“It doesn't matter now.” Stanley’s eyes furrowed as he looked up to his brother- surprised that the scolding has stopped so abruptly.
“If there’s one thing I learned from traveling Timelines is that no matter what, you’re my family… and I should help you in any way I can. Dipper,” Ford turned towards his nephew, “We’re saving your sister.”
~
The room was still tense when the red head reappeared from the upper floors with a med kit. She approached Ford and handed it to him. Wendy quickly gave Ford the kit before escaping the room.
“I’ll be in my room if you need anything.” Ford quickly went through the supplies he was given before standing up with a wince.
“Hey- uh Ford can I talk to you for a second?” Stanley followed behind his brother like a stray, adjusting his collar.
“We just did, Stanley.” Ford said simply, his pace unyielding.
“No… privately.” Stanley elaborated.
“Why won’t you just leave me alone!” Ford exclaimed, reaching his room’s door and turning the handle.
“No- Ford that’s now-“ Stanley tried to explain, but the door was swung open anyway, to reveal Multi-Bear in a large wooden tub. He was in the middle of mid-Rubber Duck enactment of a Disco Girl concert when he noticed the two men in the doorway.
“…Multi-Bear’s washroom…” Stan finished.
“Oh come on!” Ford exclaimed, slamming the door shut. He grumbled and leaned against the wall beside the room. He used the surface as support as he sat down on the ground. The other twin observed in an odd guilty state with a pitiful look. He watched as Ford unpacked what he needed to treat his wound.
“Do… do you.. ’er… don’t suppose I could… tch, don’t know… help you?” Stan asked, feeling himself grow smaller. The other glared downwards, the way his eyes darted back and forth showed he was pondering the small-voiced question. His gaze softened at the floor, and then at Stanley.
“I suppose wouldn’t mind some… yes.” The twins smiled at each other for a minute… basking in each other’s nostalgia. Stanley was the first to break the moment, stepping behind Stanley and sitting down before pausing.
“…How do you do this again?” Ford sighed in his usual disappointment. And like usual, the fondness in the air revealed his true affection for his brother.
“I’ll talk you through it…” Ford slid the case behind himself for Stanley to use, “Use the alcohol and towel first. All you gotta do is dump it on the towel and dab it.”
“Alright… so… about what you said to Dipper…” Stanley began talking as he tended to his brother’s wound, “Just don’t make promises you can’t keep Sixer. I don’t wanna hurt the kid… y’know?” The wounded twin tensed at the nickname, taking note of his own shudder in his breath. Stanley helped Ford take off his bloodied jacket and set it aside. He didn’t seem to notice the other’s discomfort. As a kid, Ford always appreciated the fond nickname. It made him feel less self conscious about his unusual hands. Though- the time he had spent with Bill flipped his everything upside down. Even his feelings about the affectionate nickname. Stanford decided to be open with his brother. More open in general. Especially since he’d be in this timeline for a while. He’d like to believe forever… but the hope of this actually being his true timeline was slim. Whatever the case, no matter the universe, this was his brother and he wanted to make amends.
“I promise you. I fully intend on getting Mabel back. And… I appreciate the gesture Stanley… but can you not… call me that anymore? It’s… what Bill called me. I hope you understand why it can be a bit unnerving.” Ford let out a small grunt of pain as the alcohol began to cleanse his wound. Stanley shrugged. He was a lot more compliant about the request than Ford expected.
“Potato, potáta. I read yer’ journals. I know he made you a little messed up in the head for a while there. I won’t go complaining.” Stanley said simply, “Back to my first point Ford. We already have a lot going on- and we’ve been trying to get her back for a while. Last time Dipper and Wendy went on their own… they got really banged up. By FUCKING GIDEON!” In a spurt of anger, Stan hit his fist on the floor.
“I’m gonna rip that kid to pieces one of these days. He’ll see what’s coming. We are only a month into this mess and barely have enough food to last everyone another one! Are you sure you can handle this?” Stanley tilted his head as he finished with disinfecting the gash.
“What’s next?” He added.
“Bandages. Take the pad- the fluffier one and grab enough to cover the wound. Then wrap the plaster around to keep it there.” Ford decided to answer Stanley’s last question before going onto his earlier concerns.
“Trust me. I can handle this. Please Stanley. I want to meet my niece. Let me help you. Help her…” Stanford sighed solemnly- before feeling a hand on his shoulder.
“Ok. I’ll trust you- one one condition: We gotta get some grub first.” Ford nodded in response and took out one of his journals.
“Great! I’ll start planning.” Ford began scribbling in his journal and muttering half to himself and to his twin. “I’m probably gonna need to know what we’re up against. I’d also like to know how Mabel even got in there- simply to satisfy my own curiosities. How did the first trial pan-out, and are there guards? What even is that giant prison of hers…?” Stanley cut off his brother’s rambles with a simple pat on the other’s shoulder.
“Relax. I’ll fill you in on details later. For now we need to focus on our ration situation. All we have left are a couple cans of brown meat and some stale snacks. Got any ideas?” Stan asked, as he began to wrap the plaster around his brother’s torso.
“There surely has to be more places to go to… What about the one down the street? The closed down one?” Stanley shook his head.
“Got stomped out by a set of teeth first week in.”
“The mall?”
“Got claimed by the oversized centipedes. Tried.”
“The pizzeria?”
“The pizza is animate.”
“My old bunker?”
“Your… oh! That thing! Now I see where you’re headed. I knew that brainiac could be used for something other than complicated plans. Now c’mon. You’re all patched up. We’ve got a lot to talk about.” Stanley stood up and held a hand out to his brother, silently asking him to do the same. Ford took Stanley’s hand and pulled himself up, gathering the access medical supplies.
“That bunker has enough rations til the next century! Well for two people… but it should be enough.” Ford began scribbling in his journal.
“Well, food is food.” Stanley shrugged and began walking down the hall. His brother followed closely behind with the extra supplies.
“You can put that in the bathroom. Let’s hope we won’t need it for a while… I’ll go grab a team to see if we can get those supplies.” Stan gave a small smile towards Ford- a small sign of appreciation. But Ford knew this was only a small token of gratitude, and that he’d still have a lot to make up.
He still could’ve saved the kids. The time police still haven’t come after him- even for messing up the timeline. The amount of times he just watched for fearing the consequences to himself is eye-wrenching. He watched them fail over,
And over
And over-
“Hey, Ford? You coming?” Ford shook his head, snapping out of his regret induced daze. Now wasn’t the time.
“I’ll go.” He said. He needed to start somewhere.
“Go…” Stanley processed the answer for a moment before shaking his head, “oh no buddy. I just got you back. Do you honestly think I’m gonna fall for that selfless hero bullshit just so you can run off on me again?!” Ford sighed.
“Stanley, you need to understand- I’m not just gonna let my family sit here while you’re struggling to make ends meet in some… some hellish version of this place I know caused!” His brother shook his head.
“You are helping. You’re gonna make a plan to get our niece back-“
“What? So you guys can go get yourselves killed?!” Ford continued, “Look Stanley. You don’t know what I’ve been through. You have to understand! I need… I need to fix this-“
“You can fix this by staying here.” Stanley growled.
“You can’t tell me what to do!” His brother barked. Stan huffed.
“This is childish,” he stated only because he knew what his brother said was true, “we shouldn’t be fighting like this at the end of the world…” He shook his head and turned away from his brother.
“Therefore you should stay.”
“Stanley-!” Ford decided to cross his arms and huff, he knew Stan was right on one thing. This was childish. He decided to keep his mouth shut on the topic until it arises again.
“…so… how can we just stay here like sitting ducks? How has Bill not captured you all by now?” Stanley seemed grateful for the topic change- instantly jumping on answering.
“Now, that genius was all thanks to your nephew Dipper! He found one of your freaky little spells in one of your journals… apparently he modified it or something? I don’t know. I’d talk to him about it.” Stanley walked away as Ford pondered. He couldn’t be any more proud of Dipper- he was glad that the boy wanted to protect his family… though Ford couldn’t help but wonder where that unicorn hair came from. Next chapter finally has some Bill!

Stargazing - Ao’nung x fem! na’vi reader
Ladies and gentleman, i pulled that laptop out 🫡 it’s been years since I wrote fanfic and I’m still figuring out this app, so bare with me here 😅
wc: 2.3k
Pairing: Ao’nung x fem omaticaya reader
includes: minor swearing, fluff
a/n: thoughts or flashbacks are in italics
Hexapede: a six-legged deer that lives on pandora
A few months had passed since your family trekked across Pandora and arrived at a remote Metkayina village, named Awa’atlu. The journey was tough and becoming accustomed to your new way of life proved to be even more difficult than staying awake on your ikran for eight hours straight. You hated the fact that you had to leave your beloved home behind, and you sure as hell didn’t want to stay here. The people of the clan looked at you odd and made you feel like you weren’t even a real na’vi.
Somewhere along the line, you found solace in the olo’eyktan’s son- Ao’nung. This came as a shock considering you could not stand him when you first met him. He was arrogant, rude, and even more annoying than Lo’ak. Who would have thought.
To be honest, you were the only one out of your siblings who he made fun of the least, aside from Tuk of course. He had never really bullied you and kept his taunting to the others after about two days passed. You still didn’t appreciate your siblings being teased though.
But as you got to know him more, you saw that there was more to him. He was also funny, extremely charming, and sometimes sweet- when he wanted to be at least.
One night he had found you sitting on a wooden deck that stretched out over the ocean, lightly swishing your feet around in the water and staring down at the vast sea. It was breathtaking, even more so at night. The purple and pink bioluminescent hues that illuminated off the ocean floor and vegetation drew you in. It was hypnotizing, almost. It reminded you of your home, your beloved forest. The thought of how long it’s been since you climbed a tree or saw your people sent a pang through your heart.
“What up, tree hugger?” You heard a painfully familiar voice taunt. Ao’nung took it upon himself to intrude on your quiet time and invited himself to sit next to you on the deck.
You sighed, not even bothering to lift your gaze from the small fish that had began to circle your submerged shins. “I thought I told you to stop calling me that.” You responded, clearly agitated.
He tilted his head and looked up to the side at nothing, appearing as if he was genuinely contemplating- just to respond, “Uhh, and I thought I told you I didn’t care?”
You turned to glare at him, causing his cheeky expression to fall off his face once he realized you weren’t in the joking mood. “Sorry,” he shook his head, “I saw you out here and just wanted to see what you were up to.” He spoke in a calm tone and shrugged.
Huh. An apology. That was rare for Ao’nung. He was slowly making progress ever since you had first arrived though. Since your first run in, you’d actively been helping him work on his people skills because honestly, he wasn’t the most pleasant person to be around. Constantly picking fights or insulting others unprovoked was definitely not a quality you had been introduced to before meeting him. You couldn’t believe the clan let him walk around disrespecting others like that and it didn’t sit right with you. Growing up, you were taught to be kind and treat others with grace. Clearly, that was not the case for this knucklehead. They treated him like royalty for obvious reasons, his parents being Tonowari and Ronal, the Olo’eytkan and Tsahik of the clan.
He did try to bully you, but only once, when you first arrived. And it’s safe to say he got humbled- painfully.
You watched as Ao’nung poked fun at Kiri’s tail, stepping in between them and smacking his arm away. He retracted and genuinely looked shocked, almost as if he felt his behavior toward your sister was justified.
“Why must you feel the need to pick on others?” you hissed, “Honestly though, seeing as your ego is so huge I’m guessing it must be making up for a lack of… something else.” You tilted your head down a bit and batted your lashes to hint at what you were referring to, using a cough to cover up the next insult you sent his way. “Shrimp” you muttered, yet clear enough to be heard.
You would definitelyyyy eat these words later, you just didn’t know it yet.
His friends erupted in laughter and slapped his back, causing him to stumble forward a little before he growled at them to shut their mouths. Safe to say he was not amused and glared at you for literally a week straight afterwards, as if he thought looks could really kill.
After that, he started to treat you and your siblings normally. Apparently he had never experienced anyone giving him a taste of his own medicine before you came along. He couldn’t lie though, it made him feel some type of way. You didn’t hold him to a pedestal like everyone else did, and somehow that intrigued him. You treated him just like any na’vi because that’s what he was to you; minus the budding feelings your heart was slowly developing for him of course.
Coming out of your flashback, you remembered you guys were having a conversation. “My family is down at the beach having a bonfire, they asked me to join, but I declined. For some reason I just felt like being alone.” You emphasized the last word of your sentence and let it roll of your tongue, turning your head to face him with a comically slow pace.
“Oh come on” he scoffed. “Don’t act like you don’t enjoy my company.” He sounded so confident and even though he actually was right, you felt the burning need to tease him.
“I don’t.” His signature smirk dropped off his face with record speed. “I’m kidding, Ao’nung” You giggled.
“You’re not funny you know.” He rolled his eyes and averted his gaze from you, now looking out at where the sea met the horizon.
A dorky smile crept onto your face at his behavior and you couldn’t help but stare at him. He looked so cute when he pouted, the way his lips would purse and his jawline would become more defined, which you thought would be impossible until now. You realized he too had small dot like markings splattered on his skin, and they were glowing under the moonlight. You hadn’t noticed them before, seeing as you only saw him in the daytime and due to the metkayina boy’s skin tone being lighter than yours, they were really only visible at night.
Gosh, he’s so pretty.
“Careful forest girl, you’re drooling. You know your face will get stuck like that if you stare too long.” He purred, without even looking in your direction.
His voice snapped you out of your daydream and your face became hot once you noticed you had been ogling him. You thought because he was facing forward that he wouldn’t see you admiring him and his features.
Damn you, peripheral vision.
You looked like a hexapede in headlights. You shook your head and snatched your eyes away from his face, whipping your hands up to cover your flustered expression. “Oh. my. eywa.” You whispered to yourself, resulting in him bursting out in a fit of laughter and doubling over at your reaction.
“Oh my-“ Ao’nung got out only two words before cutting himself off with another laugh that came deep from his gut, his large arms cradling his stomach as if it hurt.
“It’s not funny, you skxawng.” You seethed.
“Look at your face!” He cackled, collapsing backwards onto the deck and continuing to laugh at you when you refused to look up at him. “Wooo, oh man,” he sighed and wiped a fake tear from under his eye, then folded his muscular arms behind his head, now looking up at the sky above. “You’re kinda cute when you’re embarrassed, you know.” You heard him say after a few seconds.
You swore flirting was like breathing for him, it’s like every word that left his lips was meant to make you blush. “What?” You lowered your hands and turned your head over your shoulder to look at him in astonishment, snapping back around like a rubber band to look at the water so fast your head almost spun off your shoulders. You felt the pace of your heart quicken at the sight of the new position he had put himself into.
You have got. To be fucking kidding me.
Could he look any hotter right now? You thanked Eywa that his attention was caught by the twinkling stars above you two, had it not been, you honestly thought you would have sunk into the ocean and let yourself drown right then and there.
You tried to burn the image of his ridiculously toned arms and etched abs out of your mind, quickly pulling your legs up and out of the water and starting to stand up from the deck. “Honestly I think I hear Lo’ak calling me so-“ you spoke rapidly, nearly tripping over your words.
“Ah ah,” With reflexes faster than lightning, he propped himself up on one elbow and grabbed your wrist. “Sit down.” He ordered, looking more serious than ever.
Your breath caught in your throat before it could escape and you froze at the feeling of his hand on your skin. Which was ironic considering your body felt like it was on fire. With a shaky sigh you sat back down, slowly sliding your legs back into the cool water below you.
He released his hold on your wrist and you felt your lungs take the biggest, most embarrassing inhale- not realizing you had been holding your breath for about fifteen seconds. Shit, at least the breathing exercises Tsireya taught you were working.
“Jeez man, you act as if I’m going to eat you or something.” Sliding his arm back below his head, he chuckled at your strange behavior.
Shit, can he already?
Your eyes almost popped out of their sockets at the thought and image that flashed into your mind, like a reflex almost. You felt as if he could damn near read your thoughts right now so you urged your brain to shut up. Upon realizing you hadn’t spoken a word this entire interaction, you forced your voice to form words to distract from how obviously flustered you had just become.
“I’m a bit tired and It’s getting late.” You mumbled. Ao’nung was no fool, he could see right through your facade and it honestly amused him. Someone who usually had so much to say was now speechless at the likes of him.
“Liar, it is not. It’s only seven.” He answered swiftly, nearly cutting you off as if he had been expecting you to come up with another excuse to escape. “Lay down with me.” He said softly.
You dropped your head back and shut your eyes tightly, silently cursing him. It looked like you were inciting a prayer to Eywa, begging her to get this boy to stop talking to you before your heart exploded. You scooted away from him as subtly as possible before hesitantly reclining and pressing your stiff back against the wooden surface of the deck. Your eyes burned into the night sky as if this was your first time ever seeing stars.
He raised an eyebrow at you, obviously in reaction to the stupid amount of space between the two of you.
“You are actually so odd,” he sounded bewildered, eyes searching your face to try and understand you. “Do you think I have cooties or something? For fucks sake come here-“ He grabbed the arm of yours that was farthest from him, pulling it so you rolled over in his direction and fell into his chest.
You inhaled sharply, your face suddenly making contact with his hard chest and your cheek pressing against his warm skin. His arm snaked around your waist and pulled you closer to him, the butterflies in your stomach flapping their wings feverishly and your throat growing a lump in it.
His deep voice snapped you out of your trance and you felt his chest vibrate as he began to speak. “Relax.” He cooed.
“Ao’nung” you started sternly, “It is quite literally impossible for me to relax when you’re touching me like this.”
You huffed out a frustrated breath, but not derived from the kind of frustration you felt when your siblings would steal your leftovers.
This felt… different.
“I know.” You could hear the smirk oozing out of his tone.
You thanked the heavens that he couldn’t see your face right now. To save yourself from further embarrassment, you decided it would be best to keep quiet.
As you two laid there listening to the waves gently crashing against the rocks for who knows how long, you weren’t sure when it had happened but your shoulders were relaxed now. Listening to the steady thumping of his heart against his chest, you suddenly felt the urge to make your feelings known to him.
Of course it was obvious and he definitely knew by now since you were terrible at hiding it. But that didn’t mean you didn’t want to say it out loud yourself.
“Ao’nung,” You bit your lip and searched for the courage to continue. “I have to tell you something-“ You spoke as you sat up and turned your head to look at him.
Your sentence was conveniently interrupted by a loud, obnoxious snore from the boy next to you. You were so deep in your own thoughts that you hadn’t realized how long you guys were laying there quiet for. You blinked at him with a deadpan expression and rolled your eyes, delicately laying your head back down against his chest so not to wake him.
“Skxawng.” You muttered, the corners of your mouth turning up ever so slightly and into a small smile.
Alright y’all how’d i do? I haven’t written in so long this took forever to draft out LOL. My apologies for any errors i mays have missed! Hope you guys enjoyed 💞

living for your hotd hot takes!!! what do you wish would have happened in S1 & S2 in your ideal world?
thank you anon. i know some people are sick of me bitching….but blame ryan and sara!!! i love when i get asks anyway, it’s fun :)
now, i won’t go into specifics mainly because i don’t know what plot points i would change exactly (while still keeping it faithful to the show/books). but as for season one, in an ideal world, there aren’t so many time skips. i do understand that time skips and short seasons are because of budgeting, but the frequent time skips didn’t help with establishing the dynamics between the characters, namely alicent and rhaenyra. i believe there’s an entirety of twenty plus years shown in season one, yet a lot of groundwork isn’t really laid down. i personally wish we got more harwin/house strong. it’s easy to forget larys is harwin’s brother, and larys is such a major player with teamg that it really makes you wonder his relationship with his brother and father. more of harwin and rhaenyra! i would even go as far as to wish for more interactions between nyra and alicent’s kids outside of the pivotal scenes we got. in an ideal world, season one would truly show the build of resentment, of bitterness, of suspicion and distrust amongst not just the kids but the adults as well. the events leading up to the estrangement of rhaenyra and alicent in their adulthood (though, this is implied more than explicitly stated).
this last wish is more personal, but i wish the writers hadn’t cut out jacaerys and rhaenyra’s conversation before he left for the north in s1. jacaerys wishing to fight, like daemon, and urging his mother to act for every second she stalled him and his siblings remained in danger. granted, rhaenyra appeared very naive and childish in the script, so it’s probably for the better it never made the final cut.
i’m only halfway through season two, but my main issue with the season so far is the lack of consistency when it comes to characterization. there’s a lot of back tracking and contradictions that make the characters we loved in season one unrecognizable in two. in an ideal world, season two would focus more on team black/green kids. developing the relationship between aemond and aegon (and their dynamic with alicent). letting the audience see jacaerys being political savvy and his budding friendship with cregan while he was up north. the writers acknowledging the bond that rhaena should have had with jacaerys and lucerys; she was ward of dragonstone for six years yet the writers seem to forget this fact. seeing baela murder cole via burning in 4k would also be pretty cool. giving baela way more screen time and actually allowing her to have a voice about the war, the dragonseeds, rhaena and so forth. daemon interacting with the dragon twins more. showing visenya during daemon’s many episodes at harrenhal! the fact that childbirth is such an important component in his relationship with his mother, laena and rhaenyra yet it’s not emphasized is also criminal. but just cutting the harrenhal episodes will do, too. and more jacaela! i’m crazy so i catch all of their crumbs, but i do wish their scenes were less jace centric and more mutual. like, sure, we get the eye, dinner and council scene, but those are short lines rather than dedicated screentime. and even in baela’s moments of comforting jace, her opinions on things are never really mentioned. everything she says go back to what rhaenyra will think, how rhaenyra will react, what rhaenyra will do, etc. i also wish we could see more of aemond and alicent? i think i get her and aegon’s dynamic, but i’m not entirely sure where her and aemond stand. aegon and sunfyre! jace and vermax! addam and jace’s friendship! more of corlys and rhaenys’ reaction to lucerys’ death (lucerys never truly beat the favorite grandson allegations). or, lucerys and visenya being mentioned at all. and i can’t believe i’m saying this, but more otto!! and less criston cole (it’s insane cole has more screentime than all of tb!kids).
season two honestly feels like filler and stalling, yet the writers aren’t using this time to build up tension or meaningful dynamics so that they can really sell season three. it doesn’t showcase grief all that well, either, so i wish that would be improved, too.
so, there’s probably a bunch of other things i want to see but i won’t bore you too much, anon!! outside of baela burning cole, i feel like my wishes wouldn’t stray too far from the narrative? if anything, it would only enrich show canon.
