Could I have a headcanon platonic! Alastor,Vox and Husk finding a random child next to their dead mother, except that they don't really understand that she's dead and think she's sleeping,so they pity the child and take them in?

The child is really polite and nice,pretty calm,too. Sure,they do child stuff,like running around,being excited,etc,but they still are more calm than others.

They always talk about their mother,how she's the only one left,and how they love her.

Would the characters say the truth? Would they lie?

I just love hurt/comfort and platonic relationships so :3

• “How unfortunate.” You heard a weird voice from behind you as a hand was placed on your shoulder. “A child mourning in the demise of its mother. Tragic, really. You have my condolences.”

• “What are you talking about, mister?” You stared up at the mysterious man, watching his eyes flick from your left to right eye while his grin only grew as the seconds went by

• “I think you’ve just found yourself the perfect dwelling,” he abruptly said, letting go of your shoulder to fix his bowtie as he sprung back to life. “Why don’t you come with me?”

• “But what about my mother?”

• “She is in good hands, I can assure you.” He offered his hand to you. “Come along, now. Children shouldn’t dwell long in places like these.”

• and so he took you in to be a patron at his hotel

• I mean, what’s more easier to redeem than a child? (assuming you’re a sinner. I don’t know if it’s canon anymore that only hellborns can reproduce. Look at Cannibal Town’s people)

• he intended to leave you in the rest of the residents’ care while they could only guess what his actual motivation was for taking you in

• but it seemed you ended up favoring him more than the rest

• you’d follow him around like a duckling—a lost puppy—you’re attached to him like a leech

• and you’re so well-behaved, too

• up until he leaves your sight

• he actually leaves the hotel a lot more often now because of that

• he finds you wrecking chaos in the hotel entertaining as hell

• and the fact that the others beg him to come back to calm you down

• I don’t think you would ever know what happened to your mother

• even when you talk about her a lot

• those rambles never really prompt him to say anything

• well, it’s not as if he knew what happened to her

• but, hey, at least he listens!

• maybe it’s because he feels a little nostalgic hearing the way you talk about her…

• Husk was fucking spooked when he found you lying beside your dead mother

• not because of the corpse, but because of the way you were staring at him

• with eyes dull and wide open, just like your mother

• while Husk wouldn’t have given two shits if it was a grown-ass adult, you were a child

• so he took you in

• “But what about my mother?”

• “Shi—I, uh—your momma will tag along soon. Now c’mon. She wouldn’t want you out here alone.”

• since Husk is constantly around the hotel, there were never really instances where you wreaked havoc

• you just silently watch him tend the bar and sometimes talk about your mother

• your talks about how much you love her make him feel pretty guilty for some reason

• but he’d probably tell you when you’re older enough

• only if you were asking him about her though

• he wouldn’t want to have to sit you down and tell you something that sensitive of a topic when you didn’t even ask

• “Why don’t I have a mother?” you would suddenly ask when you turned 18

• today was your birthday. Charlie insisted on having a little party for you just like every year. But you didn’t want one; you wanted to be with Husk for the day

• the man in question sighed

• he knew you were building up the courage to ask all day

• “I’m gonna give it to you straight, kid, I don’t know what exactly happened to her. All I know is that she’s in a better place.”

• “Oh…”

• “Do you…wanna talk about it?” He continued, voice a little unsure, “Not as a bartender…but as a dad.”

• you smiled, grateful. “I think I’ve already said plenty when I was younger. But thanks, Dad.”

• he smiled back

• you two would then sit in silence together, basking in each other’s presence

• so, uh, I’m going to have to completely skip the taking you in part with Vox because I genuinely cannot see him adopting a random child (unless he could gain something, but, like, you’re just a kid)

• so you’ll just get the aftermath of it (hope that’s okay)

• based on the way he handled Val’s tantrum, I think it’s safe to assume that he’s somewhat good with children

• but he’s a pretty busy guy

• he doesn’t have the time to take care of a random child, so he’d make sure to keep an eye on you on his cameras

• but despite that, your existence in the tower warrants his

• as you’re too chaotic whenever he isn’t around

• but only around the other expendable employees

• you’re relatively well-behaved when Velvette and Valentino are with you

• but he doesn’t exactly trust them to take care of you

• they aren’t exactly good with children

• so he tried doing video calls

• you will definitely grow up as an iPad kid

• he’d hear you talk about your mom during those calls

• he’d let you go on and on, but it’s not guaranteed that he’ll listen

• I don’t think he would ever tell you what happened to her (he doesn’t know, anyway)

• he won’t lie, he’d just work around your question

the scene of marcus and nina in the cave was so useless i almost laughed. nina's delivery was so bad i giggled

tom's little shake was so fun, it's too bad the entirety of DSVC is in the same exact total drama style and ever took any fun creative liberties with their animation like those

thank you ONC for making the entirety of ashley's arc revolve around jake and his relationship drama, i totally wasn't interested in learning more about her. that half-assed background story does not make her deeper and in fact makes her appear even more shallow. your priorities are obvious and your treatment of your female characters is disgusting.

yay huntally!! so glad they got development as well! they were so fun for the whole time they argued

sigh. so, it's over! i definitely have a lot of... mixed feelings on this season. as you've noticed if you've kept up with my reviews, i constantly went from loving it, to hating it, to despising it with every fiber of my being, to liking it, to disliking it, and then repeating that cycle numerous times in different orders.

disventure camp: all-stars was definitely bad. sadly, no amount of sweet piano music and decently-written moments will make me forget how much i have become frustrated with this show. i would not recommend this show to anyone purely because of DCAS and its surprisingly bad quality. the writing was inconsistent and messy, the character arcs felt forced and with little to no pay-off, the ships were badly handled, the female characters were always, without fail, put down or cast aside for the male characters, the WLW couple was brushed off for the MLM ones, and so forth.

disventure camp is imperfect in every way, but i will acknowledge the fact that it is made with love (because it's not care that's for sure SORRY, sorry i'll be nice). even though i joke about how i feel bad for the patreons or those that genuinely like it and do not see its flaws, i still find myself attached to this show. i can understand why others would be, too. as a writer, i can never brush past their many, many mistakes, but i will admit they have their good moments.

they have the occasional character that escapes their wrath - jake, for example, was probably the best character this season. i've seen many complain about him because they were unable to let go of their biases, but i genuinely believe he was phenomenal. after spending so much time stuck in the same mindset, he managed to grow as a person. he befriended aiden, he got over & forgave tom, and hey, he got the boy back. their ending also makes me feel hopeful for their spin-off, even though i wish they had never gotten one because there are much more interesting characters worth exploring.

grett's arc was close to being as great as jake's, but ONC cannot really write female characters. i guess they're listening to fresh TV's teachings? she had her moments, but she was held back from true greatness. she deserved to make finale, if not win - but that's maybe biased so i'll just leave it at this lol

we got some fun friendships this season, such as ashley & jake, grett & gabby, connor & alec, and i am trying so hard to be positive right now and ignore that two of them were ruined/not carried out to their full potential because of relationship drama

okay, super positive time, I FUCKING LOVE THAT FIORE AND ALEC MADE UP. OKAY. I WAS STARTING TO LOSE HOPE SO BADLY THAT THE BEAST ALMOST MADE ME INTO A TREE (hi corn are you proud i made a OTGW reference. love u corn) BUT ALAS I CUT MYSELF FREE BECAUSE FUCK YES WE GOT THEM BACK!!! WE GOT THEM BACK!!!!!!!!!! I'M SO HAPPYYYYYYYYY <333 <333 <333

their development was probably the best relationship development in this season and i am SO. HAPPY YOU GUYS. oh my GOD. i missed them SOOO BADLY <333 that last episode REALLY fed us alec & fiore father-daughter nation holy shit i love them

i really wish things were... so, so different this season. i wanted to see actual growth in characters and relationships, less petty drama and more actual strategy, and, you know, for the winner to not be the second-placing person from the second season. that. that was bad. we can all agree that despite everyone hating on her it was bad right. like that. should not have been the ending

i wish some characters hadn't just come back to be vessels for drama. ashley and connor were only there for the development of jake and riya respectively and it kills me how obvious it is. the only reason i dislike ashley is because all she is, is jake's bff who played a small part in getting him with tom. her entire role is just to be there for a gay ship. that SUCKS.

huntessally should've also been a bigger part of the season and have gotten together. i will never not be mad about ONC not giving us the polyamorous rep they kept teasing. because c'mon why confirm them all as mspec and promote them together in social media and pride posts if you just made ally & hunter the couple and not all of them together. i mean sure i'm okay with them being '''just''' friends, not everything has to be romantic & having even MORE allos on this show would've been exhausting but. huntessally :(((

ALEC SHOULD'VE BEEN IN THE FINALE there i said my bias there it is. also fun fact before DCAS my choice for the winner was actually tom. uh now i don't even like the guy so. yea i wish we had gotten a grett-alec and someone else other than riya finale with alec winning. he deserved it before they ruined him for that tiny bit but it's okay we don't talk about it

the finale gets 7/10 and, overall, DCAS gets a 4/10. not enough decent points to get it the, if you will, passing grade. again, i will never recommend it to anyone ever. i tried to be positive - and truly there are some things i like about this show! all that screaming i did above over gabellie, fiore & alec and so forth was real excitement i promise !! - but it's a fucking trainwreck.

for my sake, i hope i do not watch disventure camp season 4. i'm probably not leaving the fandom indefinitely, i will still lurk and maybe if i get any ideas post some fic fixing this show cuz god knows we need it, but yeah. when season 4 comes out, i'm officially out of the picture. i will hopefully never rewatch the first three seasons and if i do, it should be years in the future when i will have no emotional attachment to the characters and thus not be disappointed by how bad the show is.

sooo i guess i'll still be around for a while but i will NOT be watching any new content ever. for my sake. i hope you can understand if you wanted me to share any thoughts on the spin-offs or such lol

well, this has truly been a journey. i'd be lying if i said i hated every moment of it, but i definitely did not enjoy it for the most part. however, constantly getting asks about the show - and getting to interact with you all over on @disventure-rewrite-takes - has made this so, so fun. i'll be making a separate post on the rewrite takes account about what will happen next to it :)

bina's note; all characters featured and mentioned in this oneshot are all characters from my game i've been working on w/ babu <33, also nina and yuki's interaction here is not romantic but bittersweetly platonic

Dozens and dozens of lit candles silently flickered in the lonely greenhouse sitting just outside of town. The scent of lilies were undoubtedly recognizable, Yuki knew who lived here — it was that prominent.

Remember the ringing of her laughter that once radiated in these walls, the lilies would dance so happily that day. Remember when Bina would sleep soundly into the afternoon as Ayumi baked away into the day, she'd awake from such a deep sleep. Remember when the desk where Ayumi once worked her baking magic weren't filled with candles. In hopes that her sorrowful messages would reach her someday somehow, but what hope? What hope is there to hold onto anymore? It's as if everything was ripped away from her.

Nina worked into the night, drawing cutscene after cutscene as she rambled softly to a flickering candle sat idly next to her, decorated with a pink bow and a cutout of a black goo-like monster under it, stained with wax. Maybe if I talked to this candle enough, it would reach her. Wherever she was... Was there even a "she"?

Was there a time when I was truly happy? The lilies were always so silent and limp when it was only Bina in her greenhouse. It was saddening, to say the least — even the Tree of Tranquility looked uneasy and lonely when faced with the lonesome angel's presence.

The lilies appeared bittersweet, happier than the normal wilting sorrow, but still as sad as ever — because the angel wasn't alone today. Albeit asleep, an aloof scientist worked on one of his smaller creations a bit distantly on her greenhouse's daybed in the lonesome angel's daybed not as far from Nina's desk.

The ambience of his mechanical (and scientific!) work in the distance masked with the candles' fire flickering and Bina's drawing pad against her digital pencil were the only ones that were heard. Until an alarm on Nina's phone went off. '12 AM — Break'.

Yuki turned to look at Nina's direction briefly, before turning back to his little creation. The sound of her footsteps waving against the soft grass of her greenhouse echoed silently in the silent greenhouse, accompanied by the ruffling of trees swayed by the evening breeze and Yuki's mechanical ambience.

As she walked to the kitchen and sat idly to make herself a cup of lemon green tea, the nightly winds blew a neatly written note off the coffee maker atop Nina's countertops across a exposed wall made of bricks with a lily's cage-like design holed out. Nina looks down as she catches the note with her two fingers, seeing the pink ribbon as her gaze softens. She reads the lily scented note (which just happens to about every note and paper that Nina keeps), detailing how to make Yuki's favorite coffee and when to make it for him, one of the last things Ayumi left Nina in her greenhouse before she disappeared.

Nina looked behind her to Yuki, working tirelessly on whatever thing he was working on, and back to the note. Stepping out of the kitchen after finishing her tea rather quickly, she could hardly listen to whatever he had to say to her when she sat beside him on the greenhouse daybed. Yuki looked at Nina, and she looked at him in his eyes, cherry red eyes swirled with vanilla seeming to swirl mysteriously with a divine aura, as if she was reading his soul. She could see it in his eyes (and read it from his soul) — that tiredness her sunstorm mentioned in the note blew by the night wind.

"Don't stay awake for too long. It'll mess with your head." The lonesome angel smiled distantly as she spoke to him. Her tone sounded distant and aloof, but as soft-spoken and vaguely sophisticated, similar to how she used to be. "I'll make you a cup of coffee for your head..." Nina stood up before Yuki could say a word, her hand stopping him and she caressed the back of his shoulder comfortingly, "...and I promise one day we'll be fine once more."

Nina stood up with the intention of heading to her kitchen, before turning to him and smiling softly. "I don't know how long I'll stay with you, but we'll be fine in the end. I... can't guarantee that but the hope is there, and if you just trust me and be patient, I'll make it happen for you." She assured him one last time before stretching out her hand to help him up, black mesh gloves ruffled from constant arm movement and white opera gloves (under black mesh gloves) folded down to her wrist, the other wrist on her hip, covered with a high green glove adorned with white vines. Placing his work softly on the ground along with his tools on the soft grass sat under the daybed, Yuki takes Nina's hand and stands up before turning around and dusting off the bed a bit before laying down on the daybed, muttering an apology for ruining her daybed's sheets by burning the cloth with the flying flashes of electricity he used.

The lilies looked so sad today, it wasn't like this when Ayumi and Cal were till around.

Even the lilies attached to the back of Nina's "headpiece" looked like they were about to wilt and drown in their own sorrow at any moment.

His eyes continued to follow the elegant moth lady, his eyes picking up some details that weren't there in the past. Her wing-like mechanism was gone — he always silently respected and commended her in awe for it, sometimes asking how she made her wings-like mechanism when she'd watch him work in the past briefly. Her hair was shorter — the longer part of her hair was gone, and her hair color was more natural-looking. It used to be pure white, platinum silver even, tainted with an ever growing bright cherry red at the very ends. Now it was a more natural vanilla blonde-like color with a duller cherry red at the ends of her short hair. The cherry red gradient taints on her limbs were gone, it was normal and skin-colored, as if it was never there. She used to always have this soft and graceful smile on her lips, recalling to recent events, she hardly ever smiles that happily anymore. It always looks so sad and even a bit forced. Looking at her now, things have changed...

Almost everything they had was gone, and we too have changed.

So much.

It's only us two left.

Nina came back with a cup of his favorite coffee about five minutes later, the smell oh-so familiar, and another cup of lemon green tea for herself. Yuki takes a sip, and as he glances up to look at Nina again, gloves and white lily dress stained with drops of the coffee used in his cup of cofee, the coffee hits his tastebuds and nostalgia kicks in. Memories flashing back to when Ayumi used to make it for him when she noticed he looked so tired, 'How did you get the recipe?'

Nina replied to him, with that soft and bittersweet smile on her lips, "Babu gave me the recipe with detailed steps." She smoothes her white lily dress down under her as she sits down beside him. "I thought I'd make it for you. You looked very tired..." The two spent the night in bittersweet silence, basking in each other's presence. "Remember to sleep later, it's not good for you to stay up for long periods of time... and I do care about you..."

As time passed in bittersweet silence, the sun rose in no time, and the coffee was finished. Nina noticed that, and once Yuki looked at her, she looked at him. She could read his soul, "Do you want more?"

Not even having any time to say anything, Nina stood up and took the cup gently with a soft and caring smile, knowing the answer already. As she walked into the kitchen, he layed back down. So much has changed, is the lonesome angel whose making him his favorite coffee that looks like she's holding onto whatever hope there is left that she can still find happiness the same moth woman that used to teach at that kinetic magic school her sister used to own? The same moth woman who was always so elegant and graceful with every little move and action?

Wait... Speaking (or rather, thinking?) of her sister, where are they?

Curiosity grew the better of him once he returned, asking Nina after she returned with his second cup of coffee, where Meloco and Valedion were.

He could see the angel's wings start to limp, drown in her ocean of sorrow she'd been hiding. Almost all the candles have been put out by the nightly wind, the scent of lilies more prominent than ever, as if to mask her sorrow and distract him from her sadness. He could see her eyes dim in sorrow as she stayed silent. "They're gone, aren't they?" He asked, guessing correctly just by her looks.

"Just like them..."

It made more sense that they've grown closer than before. The daybed was even claimed by him since he came over so much after he found out she was still alive. He thought she was gone too — it was relieving to know that he still had someone left that he was close to. If you can even call it that.

Her greenhouse felt like a second home almost, all his recent experiments were made or first thought of here. Maybe because Ayumi's scent can still be found here very vaguely, even some of Ayumi's more unimportant and most precious belongings were left here. He even pitched the idea of moving his small workshop-laboratory place here or near her greenhouse for "easy access".

"I'm glad I still have you here. It's nice to know I'm not alone after all." Yuki told her softly amidst Nina's silence. Nina nodded and smiled once more, her wings returning to their previous position around her head, Yuki giving Nina a gentle (and to him, embarrassing) headpat. Seeing Ayumi do that certain action when Bina was down, maybe doing it now could calm her down now... and he was right! As silence reigned once more, Nina spoke her thoughts to him, "You know, you remind me a lot of my older brother."

He looked up to her in as he finished his cup of coffee. 'Valedion? I remind you of him?'

"You care for me similar to how he used to care for me. You're like my older brother." Nina laughed softly after she finished, Yuki's lips curling to a barely noticable smile — undetected by Nina and hidden by another sip of coffee.

Of course he'd care for Ayumi's only friend. The last thing he has other than his creations and himself.

He looks forward to seeing Ayumi's smile once he tells her he's been taking care of Bina since her and Cal's absence. He can hear her happy laughter already...

Snake headcanons

(Because I can and I will)

Snakes have no taste buds. Though his tongue is also forked like that of his slithering companions, Snake does have a sense of taste, but it's not that strong, hence why he couldn't tell the difference between the two lemon-flavoured sweets. He also prefers strong-tasting foods and a lit of spices.

Though his sense of smell isn't as highly developed as that of his companions, Snake does smell in stereo too.

Though he might not look the part, Snake is actually pretty strong: some of the snakes he handles (I'm looking at you, Wilde) have an average species weight of anywhere from 10-15 kilograms (22-33 lbs) (note: this is however the estimated average for the females of the species, but still). He's also lean, and has quite a lot of stamina.

Snake doesn't mind if people talk to him or to the snakes directly; he'll gladly reply either way.

Snake's cowlick doesn't just move along with emotions (like trembling when he's nervous or spiking when he's shocked), it is also sensitive to environmental changes; Snake can sometimes tell from which direction wind is blowing just by feeling his cowlick move, much like an antenna.

Snake is mostly shy around strangers. True, he's also not that very talkative and won't take much initiative, but he likes being in the company of the people he trusts.

Snake collects shed skins from his snakes, especially the better preserved ones. Sometimes, he includes them in gifts to others.

Snake was ordered by Sebastian to train with the horses to help them get used to his friends. Horses tend to be afraid of snakes, but those of the estate have now become indifferent to them.

Snake, on principle, doesn't have a favourite snake or snake species; he loves them all equally.

Within the ranks of his extraordinary "family", Snake actually has a role akin to that of a big brother; Wordsworth is like the wise (grand)father, whom is even held in high regard by Snake himself.

The snakes like to sleep in bed with him, because he is "cozy and warm". Finny has expressed his willingness to let them sleep with him as well, but he tosses around a lot at night, making Snake scared that he might accidentally hurt one of the snakes.

Snake tends to be insecure and hasn't had any proper upbringing, making his job as a footman rather difficult for him, though he tries his best.

When Nina Hopkins came in for a fitting of his work clothes, he was reluctant to show his skin to her, but to his surprise, instead of grossing out, Nina immediately jumped into her fabrics to see if she had one that "wouldn't itch his sensitive skin".

In addition to having different voices for the snakes, Snake also has a different style of handwriting for each snake, though it does blur together a little when he tries to write fast.

Snake actually enjoys cooking as well; he likes the warmth of the stove and the bubbling sound liquids make when they're being cooked.

Though he hasn't worn it in a while, Snake still owns his regular circus outfit.

Snake venom does affect Snake, but never to the point of it causing serious injury or risk of death, even from the more lethal snakes.

All the snakes were named after famous authors and poets before Snake ever even learned how to read; the idea came from Wordsworth, who was owned by a herpetologist who liked to read to the reptilians before he came into Snake's possession.

Doll insisted on staying by his side at all times when he first caem to the circus. Much to the chagrin of the other members, out of fear for Doll being bitten by the Snakes, Doll and Snake shared a tent for a while, which is also how the snakes grew accustomed to being handled by Doll as well.

Doll also learned Snake how to dance.

Out of all the first string members, it took Snake the longest to get along with Peter, because of Peter's tendency to make sarcastic jokes, and Snake not understanding it's all in jest.

(Was a little surprised when I realised it wasn’t Natasha representing Britain but maybe I just live under a rock for not realising that sooner)

Jesper figured out how he really feels a while ago, but he never had the time to express it until tonight.

The realisation started one day when he walked in on you loudly laughing at one of many jokes Nina has told that day. He didn’t recognize it at the first second but he could swear it was the most angelic thing he has heard in all his life. When he connected the chuckles to a face, he was surprised how he could never noticed it before. Of course, you laughed in front of him many times yet he never paid much mind - but once he noticed it, he couldn’t stop thinking about it.

He started noticing other things too - like how beautiful you are or how your eyes light up when Kaz “compliments” you (well, compliments in his own, Kaz way). And if he’s honest, he would move the earth just so that he could never stop hearing your giggles.

“Aren’t you cold?” Jesper questions when he silently sits down beside you, though you heard him the second he stepped foot on the roof.

“Maybe a little. But I don't wanna leave yet,” you say without even looking at him. Your gaze is fixated on the stars lighting up the night sky, a small smile painted on your face. With a sigh, he removes the jacket hanging on his shoulders, rather putting it on yours instead. You thank him by placing your head on his shoulder, releasing a breath full of tiredness.

“Long day?” he asks, pressing a sweet kiss against the crown of your head. You close your eyes momentarily, taking in the comfort he provides simply by being there before thinking of an answer.

“Well, between climbing a couple dozen of buildings with Inej and shooting arrows for an hour straight, I’d say I deserve to be tired,” you joke, a quiet chuckle escaping Jesper’s lips. “I just needed to get away from all the chaos down there,” you mutter, getting serious for a minute or two.

“Yeah, I thought I’d find you here when you disappeared from the Club,” he murmurs, putting an arm around your waist protectively and pulling you even closer to him. “I wanted to talk to you about something,” he expresses, making you lift your head up and shoot him a curious glance. “It’s been on my mind for a while,” he starts, taking your hand in his. You look down at your interviewed fingers, slightly rubbing his hand with your thumb encouragingly.

“Whatever it is, you can tell me, Jes. I won’t judge,” you whisper, looking back up.

“I realised something. Something that I should have known for a long time but I just started to notice it a couple of weeks ago. And I should have told you the minute I knew what was going on but with back-to-back heists, there was just no time.”

“Jesper, you’re starting to scare me, what is it?” you ask, your tone glazed with concern.

“No, it’s nothing bad!” He quickly defends. “It’s just hard to tell, I guess. The thing I wanted to tell you is that… I like you, Y/N/N. Like a lot. And I don’t mean as a friend, I mean as in like you, like you,” he starts rambling, an adorable trait of his you’ve grown to love.

“Jes,” you cut him off, an amused smile on your face.

“Yes?” he questions, having a hard time establishing eye contact.

“I know.”

“You know?” he sounds very surprised.

“I know,” you reassure, cupping his face. “I’ve known what’s going on the second you started acting differently. To be honest, you’ve always been affectionate but in the past few weeks, that increased, like a lot. And I didn’t miss the glances you were throwing my way, or the way you seemed more and more concerned about my well-being with every heist,” you explain, finally getting him to look at you. “And I like you too, dummy. I always have,” you confess, a big grin growing on Jesper’s face.

“You do?”

“I do,” you nod, a giggle slipping past your lips. He lets out a sigh of relief, one he didn’t even realise he was holding.

“Well, I guess there’s only one thing left to do now,” he murmurs, inching a little closer.

“Oh yeah, and what is that?” you tease, moving closer.

“This,” he says, pressing his lips to yours. The kiss is slow and emotional and sweet, exactly how you imagined it would feel like.

When the need to breathe becomes too much you both pull away, your foreheads still leaning against one another’s. The first kiss wasn’t perfect like none are, but it was special because it was yours. And oh my god, you just kissed Jesper Fahey, your best friend since the day you joined the Dregs. That thought makes you let out the loveliest, most joyful laugh you have ever let slip past your lips and it’s like music to his ears.

“I could listen to that sound forever,” he comments, finally opening his eyes. You do the same, soon after leaning against his chest, hiding in the crook of his neck, still giggling from happiness. It’s safe to say that this was the best day of your life, even besides the tiredness resting in your chest.

NOW FOR A RAMBLE

so the thing I'm really excited for about this superhero au is that it'll be super fun to translate the canon characters over. and y'all know I love digging deep into aus and making everything overly complicated

first of all, what kind of superheroes are they gonna be?? I'm thinking something like robin hood-type vigilantes that target the rich and corrupt and protect the innocent. I think that's the closest to their canon personalities, where they actively target the people like van eck, pekka rollins, and tante heleen, and keep them from harming anyone else. it's a bit more hopeful and heroic than how they are in the books (mostly kaz) but I think it works with the superhero genre and the changes I'm making to their backstories <3 and it's a modern au, so that'll also have a factor! (I also want to see kaz scheme his way around cameras and security systems <333 I think that'll be fun to mess with)

first we're gonna talk about kaz!!! his power is touch-based healing. because the symbolism there gripped me and wouldn't let me go. his backstory is pretty similar to canon, except he tried to heal jordie several times, but since kaz himself was sick, he was unable to. the last time he tried to heal his brother was in the harbor when jordie was already dead. kaz started out as a vigilante targeting pekka rollins, but after inej and the others came into the mix, he slowly developed into a hero rather than a vigilante. because he realized that if his friends could give him hope, maybe he could do the same to the city that both destroyed and created him. and I don't know plot details yet but I want there to be a scene where jesper is fatally wounded, like actively bleeding out during a mission, and wylan and everyone are panicking because there's too much blood and not enough time, but then kaz shoves wylan aside, tears off his gloves, and activates his powers for the first time since jordie. but this time it works and jesper's eyes open and he cracks a joke and nina immediately punches him in the shoulder for scaring the hell out of her

now inej!!!! she has a shadow-based power. I haven't decided if she can travel through shadows or just control them. maybe both. but in any case her powers help her be stealthy and scary because you just Don't Know where she's gonna be. her hero name is Wraith <333 her backstory is also fairly similar, with the kidnapping, trafficking, and sexual abuse and enslavement to tante heleen. the key difference here is that instead of joining a gang upon being rescued, she becomes a superhero. and inej is a vigilante targeting those in power just like kaz, but she's also specifically trying to protect people, too. she specifically targets human traffickers, but is still bound to kaz because she doesn't know where else to go since she doesn't want her parents to see her after everything she was forced to do. but then. she helps her friends defeat van eck, and then she realizes that she can do so much more as a hero if she isn't based just in a single city. so she becomes a traveling hero who tracks trafficking rings around the world and systematically dismantles them, one by one

matthias has a spiritual connection to trassel and they fight side by side as a cohesive unit. he started out as a police officer (bleh) who was aiming to take the vigilantes down but after being stranded with one of them (nina ofc) he started leaning more toward their point of view. and he doesn't die because trassel saves him <33 no dead characters here

nina can see/talk to dead people! kinda like klaus from umbrella academy.

Hey your Childe fic was really good! Got me curious about your take on his siblings, their ages etc etc

i have a lot of thoughts about his family (especially his siblings) when i was writing it and also even now.

this turned into a long and ramble-y thing so i'm putting a cut here!

if i remember them right, 2 things we know for sure about childe's family are: (1) he has older siblings (childe is not the firstborn) (2) his three younger siblings are anthon, tonia and teucer.

for point (1), most people can agree that childe at least has 1 older brother and 1 older sister. i personally headcanon that he has 2 older brothers and 1 older sister just because. despite this being just my headcanon, i wish we had names for even just one of them! or any confirmation about them in general. i'm just very curious about characters and their families and their backgrounds so i like to know this kind of thing about them.

for point (2), i've seen some people say that teucer is canonically the youngest but i couldn't find anything confirming that. personally, i like to headcanon that he is the youngest simply because of how childe dotes on him extra in comparison to anthon and tonia.

when it came to organising my thoughts about childe's siblings for the fic, i actually went to look for names for them. just because haha. ajax and teucer are not russian names which did make it difficult to make these names fit with tonia and anthon (which are names used by russian people though i think they're more likely to be spelled "tonya" and "anton"), as well as the names i've picked for the older siblings.

i like the name "alexander" instead of ajax. russian people use it, and alexander the great is also a great military figure in history which is canon-compliant in the sense that childe's real name is ajax for ajax the great who is a great military figure in mythology.

and then i struggled with what name i can give teucer instead. ajax starts with 'a' and teucer starts with 't', so i eventually settled on "timofei" (or "timofey") for teucer.

here's my headcanons for childe's family! specifically, this is for the fic i just wrote.

i still haven't decided why childe would use the nickname "ajax" and give the nickname "teucer" to timofey.

also childe's parents did the Thing where they had twins and decided to give them matching names for no reason other than they found it cute in utero. it's my headcanon that she strictly goes by "tonya" since it sounds less like a Set of Matching Names name with her twin anton. i've seen several people on the internet say that people named antonina like to go by "nina" or "tosya" as well but i personally like the name "tonya" so i kept it haha.

i refuse to explain it but childe in canon seems like the kind of person who was the youngest in the family for a long time and then suddenly became an older brother to several children. which is why i headcanon the age gap between him and the anton, tonya and timofey to be quite big. my headcanon is that anton and tonya were born 11 years after him! and timofey was born shortly after them.

for some reason, childe's parents seem like car people. i like the idea that they collect and refurbish vintage cars. it's why older brother ilya has valya, who is the car mentioned in the fic. the car's name is valentin! valya is his nickname. i also headcanon that childe's parents' current favourite car is daria and they call her "dasha"! i'm not a car person so i didn't describe or imply that valya is a certain car because i have no idea.

as for the parents, i headcanon the mom's name to be alyona and the dad's name to be pyotr!

also, tonya is a big dog person! this is not mentioned in the fic. tonya has a female samoyed named ira.
