Pancakes and heights: My first fanfic Hello Neighbor.

Summary: Nick tries to get into the basement, is spotted and the escape is a failure. And what pancakes have to do with it, you'll find out when you read this.

Late one night, Nick decided to uncover the secrets hidden in Peterson's basement. The house was eerie, its crooked walls towering in the moonlight. Armed with a flashlight and curiosity, Nick crept into the house through the front window, his heart pounding in his chest.

As he tiptoed toward the basement door, the creak of a loose floorboard gave him away. Heavy footsteps sounded from up the hallway. Theodore heard him!

—Who's there?— Came the deep voice of his neighbor, which sent shivers down Nick's spine.

In a panic, Nick rushed up the stairs, desperate to escape. Climbing higher and higher, he found himself on the topmost floor, huddled in a corner by a large window. Theodore's shadow loomed ever closer beneath him. Thinking quickly, Nick grabbed his umbrella and without thinking, he jumped out the window.

The umbrella opened, and for a moment Nick thought that everything would go as normal as always, but the relief was short-lived - suddenly the fabric tore with a loud crack. Suddenly Nick began to fall with tremendous speed.

Just as he braced himself for impact, strong arms picked him up in mid-air. Theodore.

—Did you think you could escape so easily?— Theodore grinned grimly and carried Nick back into the house like a sack of potatoes.

Once inside, Theodore tied Nick to a chair in the living room. —Stay where you are— He said and headed for the kitchen. Soon the air was filled with the delightful aroma of pancakes frying.

Nick, hungry and frustrated, tried to think of a way out. A plate with six golden pancakes appeared on the table. When Theodore returned to the stove, Nick took a chance. Twisting and bouncing in his chair, he managed to lean close enough to snatch one pancake with his teeth.

When Theodore returned, he stopped, looking at the plate with a frown. —Wait... there's one missing.

Nick froze, still holding the pancake in his mouth. Theodore turned to him, and their gazes met. The sight of Nick with the pancake, was so ridiculous that they both burst into laughter.

—I can't believe you did that,— Theodore said, shaking his head. —Okay, enough games.— He untied Nick and handed him another pancake.

They sat at the table and at first ate in silence, but soon began to chatter about everything: Nick's curiosity, Theodore's strange and trapping ways, etc. By morning they had become, if not friends, then certainly comrades over pancakes

I'll write fics sometimes, but since I'm not a professional at it, I'm still going to ask others, (I think others are doing better than me)
