i rewatched the “los fabulosos” episode today and when i got to the part where mama and lonestar met in 1976 when they both where searching mama’s ll4e necklace (it is a very cute & lovely scene to think about😊) and then i reminded myself that months ago i wrote the backstories (headcanons for now) of when buena mom and buena dad met while bm was fixing bd’s car in ‘74 and when mr. & mrs. flea met in a bar or somethin’ in ‘78. sorry for the long text xP, but onto the main question, were there any planned episodes of the planned fourth season (example, the backstories) when the show was still production?
That is all for now, Have a lucha day!🌟✨🌟✨
I love these meet scenarios with the Buenas (I guess they wouldn't be Buena Mom and Dad then) and The Fleas (I think a bar is perfect for them).
Regarding season four stories: Yes, we had been convinced by the executives at WB Animation that we were going ahead.  All of the crew had gone onto other jobs, so it was going to be myself as story editor with Lili of course, and Joel Kuwahara was staying on as producer.  (Joel of course went on to co-establish Bento Box as a major animation studio powerhouse).
I actually put together a bunch of story outlines which were sent 'upstairs'.  To be honest, they were quite random without a real series arc, as the point was just to show we still had ideas and that we could sustain another 13 episodes.  I hadn't thought too much about backstories, but we were starting to become aware of fan reaction via forums, so we were looking to explore the relationships (not necessarily romantic) between different characters. Knowing the process, we would have definitely thought more about story direction once the season became 'real'.
(I will revisit these outlines, and if they are not too embarrassing after 17 years, post them :)
But it was all a fanciful dream...someone VERY high up was able to override WB Animation and Kids' WB, and - as you know - that was that.  It came as a real shock, as everyone connected was convinced we were going ahead.
So instead, WB put their faith in 3 new shows: Loonaticks Unleashed, Johnny Test and Coconut Fred's Fruit Salad Island.  I think they all only lasted for one season, as pretty soon after that, Kids' WB bit the dust and WBA had no TV network.  Johnny Test did resurface on another network later.

>The eight-part series, which comes from Vivienne Medrano, will launch on the streamer in January
>Hazbin Hotel follows Charlie, the princess of Hell, as she pursues her seemingly impossible goal of rehabilitating demons to peacefully reduce overpopulation in her kingdom. After a yearly extermination imposed by angels, she opens a hotel in the hopes that patrons will be “checking out” into Heaven. While most of Hell mocks her goal, her devoted partner Vaggie, and their first test subject, adult film-star Angel Dust, stick by her side. When a powerful entity known as the “Radio Demon” reaches out to assist Charlie in her endeavors, her crazy dream is given a chance to become a reality.
>Medrano serves as executive producer and directed all episodes. Joel Kuwahara and Dana Tafoya-Cameron serve as exec producers, while former Bento Box Entertainment CEO Scott Greenberg exec produces the first season.
>Medrano is repped by Redefine Entertainment, CAA, and Lee Rosenbaum at RLG LLP.

Any thoughts?
"It comes more than four months after a pilot from Medrano launched on her YouTube channel with more 80M views."
I'll fucking say it does!

This gives me hope.

Obscure Animation Subject #40: Neighbors from Hell
Originally posted on Twitter on March 19, 2023.
Created by Pam Brady, written by Paul Alexander and Paul Mendelson and directed by John Rice and Raymond S. Persi, it is produced by Wounded Poodle, DreamWorks (credited as MoonBoy) and 20th Century Fox Television.
It aired for one season of 10 episodes from June 7 to July 26, 2010, the first episode aired on Cartoon Network via the Adult Swim programming block while the rest aired on TBS. Animation is mainly produced by Bardel Entertainment, though retakes are done by Bento Box.
It should be noted that this is the first production to have involvement from Bento Box Entertainment, a then-new studio founded in 2009 by executive producers Scott Greenberg, Joel Kuwahara and Mark McJimsey, and would later be known for producing Bob's Burgers for Fox.
This show is about a family from hell being sent back to earth on a mission to destroy a drill that can dig to the Earth's core where Satan fears that the humans will invade Hell if the drill reaches it. Sounds interesting and action-packed in concept, but in execution, well, this acts like yet another GENERIC FAMILY SITCOM! We have the idiot father, drinking wife, a daughter who wants attention and the son, well he’s just like his dad. Oh yeah, we also have a talking dog because Family Guy also had one! Oh god when do these Family Guy clones end?!
The comedy (while there are occasional laughs) is rather sour as well, with forced and cliche jokes, and the animation, which while not copying Family Guy, is mediocre and rather stiff. It’s formulaic and unfunny and I recommend skipping this one. Huge wasted potential!

Legends of Chamberlain Heights Season 2 Dated
Comedy Central has dated the second season of Legends of Chamberlain Heights:
NEW YORK, May 25, 2017 – Comedy Central shoots and scores! Your favorite benchwarmers from the coming-of-age animated series Legends of Chamberlain Heights return on Sunday, June 18 at 11:30 p.m. ET/PT, following the season premiere of Kevin Hart Presents: The Next Level.
Legends of Chamberlain Heights is an urban animated series mixing raucous comedy and social commentary that centers on three high school freshman basketball benchwarmers: Jamal, Grover, and Milk. The three friends tackle life with some wins and some losses, but failure doesn’t faze them since they’re legends…even if it’s just in their own minds.
This season, Grover, Milk, and Jamal are still stuck on the bench, but once the final buzzer sounds it’s back to conquering the concrete by any means. Squeenies, Trump supporters, and vegans don’t stand a chance as the trio gets slightly protested, largely detested and even wrongfully arrested. The hater’s finna hate, but a legend’s gotta do what a legend’s gotta do!
Episodes will launch day of air on cc.com and the Comedy Central app as well as the day after air on iTunes, Amazon Video, VUDU, Microsoft Movies & TV, Google Play, Verizon Multi-Screen, Frontier Communications, and Sony Interactive Entertainment. Legends fans can get in on the action by following the show on Facebook and Twitter.

I am enjoying your ¡Mucha Lucha! Through the past backwards! posts. It really shows how much can go into making a series for TV. What I noticed was that sometime during Season 2, WB's production number system changed from 385-XXX to 257-XXX resulting in a shift. It was likely due to the show's second season getting extended midway in production.
Thank you! I'm glad you're enjoying the recaps. I'm psyching myself up to tackle the tumultuous experience that was season one, soon.
I didn't notice that about the production numbers. What you are saying makes total sense. We were midway through season two when a further thirteen episodes were greenlit, so WB internally must have always technically regarded the extra episodes as season three!
Which means the show did actually run for four seasons!
Thanks for noticing this - Eddie.

Crew pic from season 1.
Some notables. back row/green jacket and glasses is Gabe Swarr. Eric Pringle to the right, Derrick Wyatt in front of Pringle. Kimberly Brooks, Candi Milo and Carlos Alazraqui are the front left triangle. Next to Carlos is producer Joel Kuwahara. Next to Candi is voice casting/voice director Collette Sunderman. Back row second from left is director Alfred Gimeno, who is trying to hide (I'm not going there:)
Hey, wait a minute - where are Lili and Eddie? (Hint: they are not there.)
Extra hint: There is an English expression "Sent to Coventry" ;)

¡Mucha Lucha! - Through The Past Backwards - Episode 21
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Somewhere around this time, the show's producers - Lili Chin, Joel Kuwahara, Ken Kessel, Peter Hastings and myself - were called into a special afternoon meeting organized by WBA President Sander Schwartz.
Uh-oh. What have we done now..?
Nothing! On the contrary: Sander announced that season two was being extended to 26 episodes.
Honestly didn't see that coming at the time.
That was obviously great news for everyone on the crew, as it gave them some security over the forthcoming months. With 'El Malefico' also in production at the same time - with a different director and board artists - it made for a lot of ML activity.
Back to these episodes. I liked the idea of the different classes like 'Manager Class' in 'Show Me The Funny'. I proposed a manager class story in season three that didn't get the go-ahead. I am thinking of revisiting it for a new 'Tales From The Coliseo' story after I finish the current one.
War Of The Donuts, I don't remember too well. I do recall designing one of the Mecha-Donut Shop transformations, but that's about it. I think it may have been produced later in the production schedule, then brought forward in the on-air schedule ahead of episode 22. Lili Chin and myself were still not permanently based in LA, so we would be working remotely for a few of the episodes coming up.
The next one, we were definitely around for...
