hello! may i request for a reaction/interaction for the sparda boys about having an s/o who is an artist? (for drawing reasearch and ideas teehee)
Ohoho coming right up!
Sparda boys x Artist!Reader headcannons
¤ Dante ¤
-The day he discovered you were an artist was the day you gained a permanent, constantly willing model.
-Always wants you to draw him, no matter what time of day it is. He'll wake you up at 3:00 A.M. because he just put together the most badass outfit he's ever seen and wants you to sketch him in it. (Except it's the same outfit he always wears)
-The drawings you make of him hold more worth than museum art pieces in his eyes.
-Buys you sketchbooks, art supplies and whatever you need whenever he can afford them.
-To him, you are more talented than da Vinci. Not that he knows who da Vinci is, because according to him, you're the best artist in the world.
-Follows you on all your social medias and likes your every post.
■ Vergil ■
-Hangs your art up everywhere like a proud dad; the fridge can now barely be opened because there are so many drawings attached to it.
-He will (with your help) download any digital drawings and use them for a variety of purposes, such as his home screen on his phone, lock screen, etc.
-If you just gift him drawings of himself he will tear up with sentimantality and hastily excuse himself so he can go cry in private.
-Also buys you art supplies, paints, and whatnot whenever you need them.
-If he wasn't such a boomer, he'd follow your social medias too but unfortunately, he is tech-inept, so he can't.
-Loves watching you draw just as much as he enjoys looking at your drawings.
□ Nero □
-Normally, Nero isn't all that into art and really doesn’t care for it, but when you came along, all that changed.
-Now he's suddenly super interested in it and wants to watch you draw or have you teach him to draw whenever he's free.
-He's no Picasso, but he can at least manage a couple of funny looking stick men.
-Really into painting now, mostly because he can use the various attachments on his arm to make different patters on the paper. Yes, this is a complicated way to say he finger paints with his prosthetic arm.
-Any sketches you do of him, any at all, will go into his wallet unless you want to keep them for yourself.
-His wallet is now packed to the brim with folded up pictures of him that you drew, so whenever he's away on a long mission, he can stare at them and remember his badass S/O drew that for him.
● V ●
-You're an artist? V's perfect for you--he's a writer.
-He will write poems about whatever you draw; they're usually short limericks describing the image, praising your talent, or both.
-Looking at your latest masterpieces is the highlight of his day because they inspire him to write more poems.
-Calls you his "Magnificent artist".
-Shows your art to his familiars, who all agree (except Griffon, of course, he always has something to yap about) that it's quite nice.
-Is pleasantly surprised whenever he finds sketches/paintings/drawings of himself and is honored to be your muse.

Hey, How are you? Just read so many of your DMC head canon and I liked them, good work don't think it's against your rules, if it is, just ignore this.
But wanted to request Dante with fem! Reader who just had a baby girl.... Dante's reaction to having a girl and how he is with a newborn.
dante with a baby girl 𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪
dante (dmc) x reader (?)
┊ ˚➶ notes 。˚ 🎼
this has been sitting in my inbox for so long, my apologies!!! this was a really cute request and i love dante sm ugh i have dante brainrot rn
┊ ˚➶ warnings 。˚ 🎼
babies n mentions of pregnancy ( obviously ), intended lowercase, lmk if i missed something!! 💕
. ˚◞♡ ⃗ *ೃ༄ . ˚◞♡ ⃗ *ೃ༄ . ˚◞♡ ⃗ *ೃ༄ . ˚◞♡ ⃗ *ೃ༄
❥ let me tell you how cute i think this actually is.. like dante with a little baby girl??? it’s??? just so?? cuteee??22?2?2
❥ i can honestly see dante as a boy and a girl dad, but since we’re talking about girls here!! let me just shed some light on how awesome of a dad dante would be regardless of what gender his kid is.
❥ as a newborn, i can see him being both super goofy or uncharacteristically careful. dante is literally so scared to do something wrong so he leaves most of it to you, but if you use formula for your baby or if.. part demons don’t need milk (?).. then he’ll take over that. it should be easy enough, he says, right? right???
❥ wrong. he let you have some time alone to let you go out and actually be baby-free for a little while and he partially regrets it. the only reason why is because he’s stuck on the couch rocking the baby back and forth while she cries because dante doesn’t know how much to feed her.. which is how he ends up calling you on your alone time
❥ dante’s behavior as a dad depends on how old he is ( what game we’re talking about ). as in dmc 1-3, he’s more so carefree and although he’d know being a dad is a lot of responsibility, he’d still have somewhat of goofy, dumb mindset within him. meanwhile as he progresses in dmc4, he’s learned a lot and has gotten better, so i think this would be the start of a really good era to raise a baby. and then finally in dmc5, peepaw still got it, okay?
❥ while i see dante enjoying his beauty rest, i can also see him sacrificing his sleep to get up and take the fall of a crying baby rather than wake you up and ruin your sleep schedule. dante’s pretty good at entertaining babies for some reason, what can i say?? they just love the guy i guess
❥ even before you’ve had the baby AND after, i feel like dante would pick the goofiest outfits for her omfg. like, you’ll be sifting through the clothes and looking for some cute onesies or something and all of a sudden you hear, “babe—!” and you turn and it’s dante holding up a baby tee with a cannabis leaf on it
❥ dante would absolutely remember his baby’s birthday, and on the off chance he doesn’t and he only remembers because you or nero brought it up or something, he will run on the other side of town just for her. you’ll call him and be like, “you got the cake, right?” and he’ll be like “ohhh, yeah— don’t worry, i got it” and he’s literally fighting like six antenora and hellbats rn but dont worryyy!! afterwards he’ll just stop by the bakery all bloody and ask for the cutesiest cake available and he’ll start showing the baker photos of you and his baby girl. he’ll be like “ugh, they grow up so fast 😊” as he’s picking out demon blood and residue from his air
❥ read a post where it was headcanons about if vergil and dante had a baby that had blonde hair like eva’s and WHOAAA. if dante’s daughter somehow received a recessive trait and she has blonde hair like eva’s, it will pull at dante’s heart strings from birth. he thinks it’s a sign, a sign that she’s still watching over him and that’s she’s there— she’s there enough that you’ve acquired her hair color. he believes her love is just that strong, and that makes him try a little harder every day. he will not let her memory be forgotten, and he’ll tell you and his daughter whatever stories he remembers from when he was a kid, especially ones with vergil ( partially to spite him ).
❥ growing up would be the hardest thing for dante to accept. he’ll always love her unconditionally but it makes him sad knowing that this is the youngest she’ll ever be and the oldest she’ll ever get ( if that makes sense ). but, he’ll always love her even when she’s not a baby anymore. he’ll love her when those onesies turn into t-shirts and he’ll love her when that teddy bear turns into an algebra textbook or a phone or jewelry.
❥ dante will forever cherish his family, and he yearns for that domesticity you two have created with your children. he’ll love you and his daughter regardless, and he’ll always come back for you. he is the legendary devil hunter, of course.

1) Can you tell about Earbust as what kind of dad he is for his sons? When Boneslav aparted to his new job as a travel guide, he seemed a bit distant compared to Loudkill and Gutpull who hugged Bones (tho he said they'll sing for him every round moon). No judging him, just curious and greedy to know more about the stone family!
2) Do you have any real life deer species as reference for coastians? So far we've seen Gitta but for example, what kind of antlers the bucks have? Also were there any coastians as background deers in Gathering scenes?
3) Did you have personality/lore thought for the two marshlander gals (Ouri and Miri if I recall right) in Runi and Nero's herd? Are they related to anyone in the herd?
Happy Holidays and thank you for weekly serotonin and making me an avid deer art enjoyer!
Earbust is super calm and collected, a man with one face but warm heart. He's a very involved father, always willing to listen and comfort, but also demands his boys to think for themselves and figure out who they are on their own. He too was there to hug Boneslav in the departure scene but there was too many more exitable characters to mow him down in the panels.
Coastians are weird and don't operate the same way others do. They're kind of like northerners, an umbrella term but not quite. Their designs vary a LOT because even a mixed deer can become a coastian, and sometimes even full-blooded e.g. woodlander can join them as long as they abandon their woodlander ways and assume theirs. There is original coastian species underneath the mixed masses, but it's not been explored in the comic and I haven't made strict plans for them. For now they only have narrow ears, smooth grey-purplish coats and elegant builds, possibly some crazy eye colors too.
3. Ouri and Miri! They're fillers with not much lore behind them, likely originating from another marshlander herd. I never chose if they were sisters or just Very Good Friends, so their relationship is ambiguous. They're close, pretty much in every scene they're together. In age they fall in-between the youngsters (Nero, Runi, Hovus, Biro) and matureish adults (Luma, Dorus, Vanja etc.) Ouri (left one) might be mute, or just very quiet. Miri talks for her even though there's no panels where she'd utter a word either...

For your favourite FFVII character
1. Canon you outright reject
2. A canon or headcanon hill you will die on
50. A memory they’ve blocked out
HIIII! Thank you so much for the ask!
Ohi have so many favorites but my obvious top 1 is Vincent Valentine so here we go:
Canon you outright reject.
I have picked Dirge of Cerberus apart so many times because there's so many things I disagree with, specifically I think Vincent's crush on Lucretia derived from a promise he made to his dad about protecting her before Grimoire died. Lucretia never reciprocated but had a certain obsession with Vincent because he reminded him so much of Grimoire and in her head, she was responsible for Grimoire's death.
On that note, let Lucretia be unhinged. I refuse to accept she was this submissive, shy woman. She was one of the lead scientists of the Genova project! Let her be brilliant and have a fucked up sense of morality! Let her revive Vincent out of guilt but also because she wanted to see if the research Grimoire and her spend so much time on worked, and it did! Let her experiment on Vincent for the sake of science and her need to prove Grimoire's death was not in vain. Let Vincent's fucked up mind create a strange and not quite right version of her in his head that he faces and has to admit was wrong when he decides to let go. Let Lucretia be a human with objectives and goals that made her do things by herself beyond what the men in her life told her to! AHHHHHH!
Also I hc Vincent never slept with Lucretia, but there's a chance Sephiroth, Weiss and even Nero are his biological kids because Hojo (non-consensually) took his genetic material and threw it around like confetti because Vincent was the first experiment to be successful in 1) processing Jenova cells correctly and 2) Not dying. Although he could never figure out exactly what Lucretia did to achieve that (*cough* Chaos and company *cough*).
2. A canon or headcanon hill you will die on.
Chaos doesn't return to the planet after the events of DoC, but this time they have a better relationship with their host. Same goes with the others. Maybe Vincent is immortal and stays 27 forever and maybe he can or not decide when to die...
50. A memory they’ve blocked out
I think there's a lot of fucked up shit Hojo did to Vincent that his brain blocked out to preserve his psyche. I think Hojo treated him as an object, a test subject, that was his property before he was Shinra's, specially after Lucretia's "death".
For a while he blocked a lot of the things that Lucretia did to him as a test subject, too.
Do I think he remembers those things at some point with AVALANCHE? Yes, and its terrible for him so he sorts of puts it in the "not opening this now or ever" box in the back of his brain for a while but he eventually has to face it when recovering.
I think Cid helps him a lot with that. Sometimes Vincent can't even say out loud what happened to him in that basement but Cid makes sure to reassure him nothing Hojo did to him will make Cid leave or categorize Vincent as less than a human being deserving of happiness and respect.
I think that while Vincent has an almost Eidetic memory, there's a lot of things from his past when he was just Grimoire's son and then when he was Vincent of the Turks that he forgot about because of what he went through. But then one day AVALANCHE finds an antiques shop and Vincent sees a console phonograph and he remembers his mother (I hc she was a geologist) playing her favorite song and picking Vincent up to dance around the living room.
One day Cid gifts Vincent a polaroid camera and Vincent remembers when he would use Shinra equipment to take silly pictures of the other Turks instead of using them for surveillance.
Another day, when visiting the 7th Heaven for a reunion party, he walks to the old piano no-one knows how to play but Tifa used to dream about learning to play and just...starts playing. He plays the equivalent of Beethoven's Moonlight sonata's 3rd movement out of nowhere, claw and all, because he had forgotten besides learning how to shoot, his father was adamant Vincent had to learn to play an instrument perfectly to help his memory and coordination.
How about that time Vincent suddenly remembers his family was kinda nobility and super loaded and he's like "uh I think we used to have a mansion in Junon maybe we can find weapons and amunition in there?". And that is how Vincent finds Cerberus.
#excuse my yapping I have a lot of feeling and hcs about Mr. Valentine Jr.#vincent valentine#ffvii#I hc someone calls him that once Mr. Valentine Jr and Vincent sort of short circuits#ask game#my hcs

Big brain Nero head cannon time!
I loved the "Can I spend my life with you?" fic and it got me thinking... Nero would be so soft around little kids! 🤧 Chaotic but soft! Like playful and fully engaged with whatever they are doing and 1000% down to play with dolls or putting on makeup or a full on nerf war or a foam sword fight or even just chasing the kid around, cackling like a gremlin while the kid screams and giggles! 😭
It would be so precious to watch and my heart can't handle how cute it is!!!
Playtime (Nero x Reader & Their Child)♥
(Dad Nero has my heart💖💖😭 Both baby and Reader are gender neutral for maximum self insertion haha~ I based this on my younger family members and how I mess around with them! (◠‿◠✿) Thank you for the request!! xo)
Summary; Nero playing with your toddler! Word Count; 575 Warnings; None! :)
MASTERLIST🌸
From the second your child was born, Nero’s ‘dad mode’ was unlocked and he hasn't looked back since. Dad jokes, tea parties and telling stories with dramatic voices to make an actor jealous– Nero gladly let go of any pride he had before in order to see his baby smile. That gummy smile and the tiny, cooing giggles when he would make faces and animatedly speak to the tiny baby in his arms… It just made everything worth it.
“I’m gonna get youuu∼!”
“No you won’t–!”
You watch on as the two most important people in your life cause absolute chaos in your living room, couch cushions and toys strewn over the floor and the sound of delighted squealing and giggling warming your heart. Nero is pretending to chase after your toddler, dramatically parkouring over furniture, pretending to be some kind of monster… or maybe a dinosaur? You can’t really be sure, the game changes every few minutes and you’ve given up trying to keep up with the switch ups. He always makes sure to be just unable to reach your child, who squeals and yells for the monster to go away as they run a few feet away– but you know Nero is as eagle eyed as ever, subtly herding them away from potential dangers without pausing the game.
Nero takes playtime very seriously. Sometimes you have to ask yourself whether you have one baby or two– because father and child are on the exact same wavelength when it comes to playing. This is a game of life or death!
“I’m gonna steal all your hugs– give them to meeee∼!” Nero rushes towards your child, hands outstretched in a tickling motion. They scream and run behind the couch, peeking over it with sparkling eyes.
“Nuh-uh! None for youuuu–!” They declare, giggling and waiting for their daddy’s next move. “Monsters don’t get hugs!”
Nero gasps in offence, “What do you mean monsters don’t get hugs?”
“No hugs for monsters!” The child doubles down, grinning as Nero puts a hand to his chest and puts on an indignant expression.
“But what if I’m a nice monster?” Nero challenges, creeping closer to the couch.
“Nope, nuh-uh– no hugs for you!” They see Nero’s approach and starts mirroring his actions so that the two of them are circling the couch.
“Is that so?” Nero grins mischievously.
They giggle, “Mm-hmm! My hugs, you can’t have them!”
You already know what's coming before it even happens, having seen this scenario play out many times before. Nero nods sadly, looking thoughtful. “Hmm, okay… I guess I’ll just have to go without then….”
And then he lunges– vaulting over the couch and capturing the toddler in his arms, lifting them into the air like a trophy. They squeal and kick their arms and legs out in an attempt to ‘free themself’, their cheeks flushed and white hair a mess.
“Gotcha–!” He tosses them into the air before hugging them tightly to his chest. His arms are strong and protective around your child, and they lean into his embrace despite still screaming out in defeat at having been caught by the monster. “All your hugs are mine!”
That's when you decide to make your presence known, wrapping your arms around the two of them and nuzzling your cheek against the soft white hair of your baby’s head. A sneak attack to win you the game!
“-- And now both of your hugs are mine!”
~ 🖤

I'm back for the exact three you brought up lol Celeste and Luce's kids, Lal and Celeste's kids and Noel and Celeste's kids!
Hell yeah! Starting with eldest first!
Celeste/Luce - Rosalia
Flame - Sky
Rosalia is Celeste’s eldest, however, she’s obviously Luce’s second. This means Rosalia won’t be in line to become the next Giglio Nero boss.
She’s thankful for that though. Rosalia is what some people would call a “dreamer”, she tends to have her head in the clouds and enjoys a lot of creative arts like poetry and drawing. She prefers to be somewhere quiet, humming along to whatever new song she’s found or she’s come up with.
Her siblings are pretty sure she inherited the Giglio Nero’s ability to see the future, or she’s simply just really perspective and the world’s ultimate prankster with the specific things she warnings her siblings about. She’ll never tell them, but, the answer is both. You can use future sight to try changing fate for the greater good, but sometimes it’s more rewarding to use it so Eliot’s chair falls apart under him because he stole the last of Maman’s brownies before you got one. She does at least give warnings before the prank happens.
Rosalia, like a lot of her siblings lol, doesn’t have many traits from Celeste outside of the hair sheen. It’s a toss up whether her blue eyes are from Celeste or from Luce since both of them have that trait lol. But! Rosalia’s hair is noticeably more wavy compared to other Giglio Nero women and [with Rewriteverse’s version] she’s a bit shorter than them. (188 cm/6’3 compared to Aria’s 196 cm/6’5 and Luce’s 200 cm/6’7)
Calls Parents: Celeste = Maman, Luce = Mamma
The others get Mom or Dad.
Lal Mirch/Celeste - Rosario
Flame - Rain
Celeste’s third kid, second son, and Cecilia’s twin brother. Yes, Celeste was pregnant with Colonnello’s and Lal Mirch’s children at the time lol.
Rosario is far calmer compared to his twin sister. While he can be worked up into being competitive with him other siblings, he prefers watching from the sidelines. By all means, he could step in and order them around to behave like a drill sergeant. Thing is, half the time he doesn’t care. It’s not uncommon for him to just let Cecilia waltz her way into a decision that gets her hurt or in trouble. He’s not his sister’s keeper after all.
That being said, he does care a lot about his twin. If she’s hurt, he’s always waiting right there with a first aid kit and such to help. If she gets into trouble with their parents, he lets himself get into trouble with her for not stopping her when he knew she was doing something she wasn’t supposed to. Back when Colonnello accidentally made her cry as kids, he in fact tried to fight him. His dad was only saved from his righteous fury because Rosario didn’t really know how to throw a punch yet and he was just 5 like his twin.
A lot of his features line up with Lal Mirch, for the most part he looks like a male version of her. Except, he entirely has Celeste’s hair; white color and hair sheen with the wavy texture. He tends to style it like Colonnello’s rather than either of his moms.
Calls parents: Celeste = Mamma, Lal Mirch = Mom, Colonnello = Dad
The others tend to get their names.
Celeste/Noel - Estelle
Flame - Snow
Celeste’s 8th kid and 4th daughter. Estelle is pretty warm and borderline bubbly in personality, often drawing people around her with her charming ways. These people are almost guaranteed to be into dumped to though. She’s not as athletic as either one of her moms, but she did grow into a combination of their interests. She loves fashion history a lot, loving to map out how and why fashion changed in certain ways. She also likes to draw sketches, namely of whatever fashion has caught her interest that week.
She looks the most like Noel in appearance, even having her short height. (Estelle - 158 cm/5’2, Noel - 152 cm/5’0) She does have Celeste’s blue eyes though. I imagine her hair is styled like this picture I found, the beads being either white or some color other than blue lol.

So I was playing through the update (very very fun!!) and I got to the part where Rafaele asks the MC how he looks. I accidentally selected a choice without "looking" at Rafaele, then went back to look first and then select a choice. I found the contrast between the two outcomes very funny — I just had to pause and write this ask because man this got a lot of giggles out of me 👻👻
Without Looking:
With Looking:
It was definitely a very nice semi-hidden little treasure to stumble upon! I probably wouldn't have found this if it weren't for accidentally clicking a choice without doing the looking first; I know that "not looking" is reflected in the wording of the choices in that certain scenario, but for some reason my brain didn't register it at all until I consciously looked closer 😭
Also, I really really like the "not looking" scenario for some reason?? It feels so familial and intimate, an exasperated father mock-sighing at his unabashedly confident child. It kind of feels like a peek into how MC interacted with their parents during their younger, more childish days 😌 It certainly gave me quite a few drabble/headcanon ideas regarding my MC and his parents, at least. I liked it so much that I decided to keep it (sorry, Rafaele)!! 😝✨
Anyways, I'm very much enjoying the new update!! Thank you for all the work you've done, and good luck with writing chapter 2! (๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧ I'm really excited for it, but please do take your time! You've already given us so much content (including your blog posts, which I very much enjoy reading) :] That was all, and have a very nice day!💙✨
P.S. The relationship between MC and Nero and Rafaele is very near and dear to my heart 🥰 I'm very fond of the ROs, and am looking forward to getting to know more about them ingame — but the dads are special. I've spent waaay more time than I'd like to admit making personal headcanons and anecdotes about that little family 🥹
Ahh, I'm so glad you played through the update! And I'm even more ecstatic that you caught the changes with the looking vs not looking (The choices and comments are different for each option depending on if you looked or not!!)! 💕 I wasn't sure if anyone would be able to see and appreciate the differences!
You're right, though -- it seems so familiar and easy in a way that's intimate to anyone you've been with for a very long time. So even if it may seem like the more "disrespectful" option, it really is just everyday interaction with your family. A little taken for granted, but loving all the same.
I'm super glad you like the dads, and I know many people do as well ❤️ I find it fascinating that we especially value and devalue ROs at the same time (no /neg or criticism). A lot of people look to IFs just for the romance, that sometimes we reduce characters we can romance to being there just for that. Thus, finding characters we can get attached to, without any prior expectation to romance them, feels more special.
Again, not necessarily a bad mindset, or directed towards you, specifically--it's just been on my mind for a long time! It makes me so happy that you can find a character like that in my IF, because I definitely do not want to make important side characters less loveable or interesting than the ROs. So your fondness for the parents is really special as well, and shows that that isn't the case!
That was a lot of musing and rambling -- thank you so much for letting me know your thoughts about the update 🥺 I'll be answering an ask about flower crowns very soon for you 💕🌿

Papastarion Headcanons Pt. 2
Is this going to be my brand? I feel like this is going to end up being my brand. Not that I’m complaining.
•I subscribe to the popular headcanon that Astarion is a stargazer, and I think he’s fairly well-versed in the constellations and other celestial bodies that dot the Faerûn night sky. With his name meaning “little star” and Thea’s name having its own star-based meaning, he decides to make a tradition of giving their children a secondary name, with each coming from a different constellation that he maps from the night they’re born. These are also used as terms of endearment.
•Their two adopted daughters have their own constellation-names, too, chosen from the day they met.
•You know how elves have good hearing? He knows Thea’s pregnant before Thea knows. Nights are quiet when she sleeps, and when you suddenly start hearing two heartbeats from one body, it doesn’t take long to figure out what could be going on (especially when Larian upped your INT from a 9 to a 13.) As a Castlevania fan, I think his suspicions are confirmed when Thea has a full-scale blow up very similar to Sypha’s when they wind up in an unintentional ambush and Thea starts throwing around curses in every language—which is very out of character.
•At first, Astarion is terrified he won’t know how to manage disciplining the kids when necessary without losing his temper. Cazador may be dead and gone, but so many of those scars linger, and the last thing he wants is to create scars for the kids because of the ones he carries. Thea has her own fears given her lineage, but they both create quite the balanced team.
•He is simply Dad. With four boys and three girls, I hate to say that he is a Boy Dad or Girl Dad. So he is just Dad. He’s good with kids because they’re his and he would do anything for them.
•Thea’s a half-elf, and therefore very much needs sleep, so Astarion tries to take care of nightly needs that as much as he can so she can try to sleep. Of course there are certain things he can’t do, but Thea wouldn’t want him to do it all, anyway.
•He’s so proud of each milestone. First words are his favorite, though, even if the first word isn’t “papa.” Two of the kiddos do have that as their first word, however.
•They have so many family portraits done over the years. As they grow as a family, and to keep track of how their kids change over the years. He doesn’t want to forget what they looked like at any stage of their life.
•They all know Papa’s a vampire, and that they’re dhampirs. Astarion and Thea don’t tell them exactly how their father become one, not while they’re so young. But they all learn in time, when Astarion and Thea think they’re ready to hear it. They’re very transparent parents.
•There’s nothing more chaotic and yet endearing than introducing the kids to their old allies when the chances arise. Nero, their firstborn, is only a few months old when he meets Gale of Waterdeep. Gale holds Nero for approximately five seconds before Tara hops onto Gale’s shoulder and gives her own opinion of the little dhampir, and then lectures Gale for not have any of his own little ones yet when the vampire and the Bhaalspawn managed it so quickly.
•Nero comes along very quickly, in Gale’s defense. He’s born less than a year after the saving of Baldur’s Gate, because it’s Thea and Astarion and that’s their luck—for Thea to get pregnant not long after reinitiating the physical aspect of their relationship, not that either of them are going to complain. Astarion did tell her he wanted it all, even if children didn’t come to mind in that moment.

"Completely constipated," Rachel pushes her bushy hair back in frustration. "And you? No funny dreams?"
Ara had no dreams at all because she didn't sleep. "None."
Percy joins them and then points at the hill. "What's he doing up there?"
"Probably feeling sorry for himself," Ara sighs. "Let's get him before Peleus eats him."
The three walk uphill to meet Apollo. Rachel talks first. "I know what you're thinking. Don't do it."
"Can you read my mind, Miss Dare?" The boy asks sarcastically.
"I don't need to. I know you, Lord Apollo."
"Don't call me Lord," he makes a face. "I am just a mortal teen. I do not belong at this camp."
Percy sits next to him. "Yeah, I used to think I didn't belong here either."
"It's not the same. You humans change and grow and mature. Gods do not."
"You sure about that? You seem pretty different."
"You look sadder," Ara crosses her arms and examines him playfully. "But if you don't want to be addressed as a lord, that's fine. So what now, Lester?"
"The other Oracles must be found and secured," he hugs his knees. "I cannot do that unless I leave Camp Half-Blood. And I cannot risk anyone else's life."
"Yeah well, luckily for you I'm legally obliged to do what I think necessary, and considering you're a sorry excuse of a demigod, I can't turn my back on you. You got a prophecy, right?"
Rachel sits next to Lester. "Ara said you were talking to an arrow yesterday. I'm guessing it's wood from Dodona?"
Percy tilts his head. "You found a talking arrow that gave you a prophecy?"
"Don't be silly," Apollo rolls his eyes. "The arrow talks, but I got the prophecy from the grove itself. The Arrow of Dodona just gives random advice. He's quite annoying."
"Right, and Percy's statement made no sense," Ara teases him.
"I must leave the camp," Apollo ignores her. "The Triumvirate means to possess all the ancient Oracles. I have to stop them. Once I have defeated the former emperors... only then will I be able to face my old enemy Python and free the Oracle of Delphi. After that... if I survive... perhaps Zeus will restore me to Olympus."
"We've got a good head-start," Ara shrugs. "We can do it."
"Are you sure you wish to come?" Apollo raises a brow. "Nero said they want you as much as they want the oracles. You have a whole life going on."
"As if you care," Ara snorts. "Like it or not, Lester, we're a team now, so you better embrace it."
"Ara is the closest you'll get to the gods helping you," Percy agrees. "She's got nine blessings, and one is from your dad. You need her and Ara needs you to get this right so she can have an easier time looking after us."
"Besides," Ara adds carefully. "Nero wanted me to kill Meg, she's not safe with him. I think I almost got to her, she just needs to feel like she's standing on solid ground with us. She needs us, Lester."
"Meg doesn't want to be found," he keeps his gaze down. "She's under the influence of her stepfather."
Percy fidgets with his pen. "I've lost too many people to bad influence: Ethan Nakamura, Luke Castellan... We almost lost Nico, too... No. No more. Listen to Ara, you can't give up on Meg. You guys are bound together. Besides, she's one of the good guys."
"I've known many of the good guys. Most of them got turned into beasts, or statues, or— or trees..."
"She's just like I was at her age," Ara places a hand on his shoulder and absorbs some of his anguish. "And look at me now, I have a great sense of humor and I'm so pretty."
"I hate you," Apollo says weakly.
Rachel chuckles. "Things can turn out differently, Apollo. That's the nice thing about being human. We only have one life, but we can choose what kind of story it's going to be."
"It's all about who's there with you," Ara nods. "And I've been exceeding expectations since I was ten."
"I hope you're right," he sighs.
"Well, for starters, I need a prophecy," Ara straightens her posture. "So let's hear it."
Lester wrinkles his nose, but he replies.
There once was a god named Apollo
Who plunged in a cave blue and hollow
Upon a three-seater
The bronze fire-eater
Was forced death and madness to swallow
Rachel covers her mouth. "A limerick?"
"I know! I'm doomed!"
"Why? What does that mean?" Ara frowns.
"Birdy," Percy speaks suddenly in alert. "Those lines... Do they mean what I think they mean?"
"Well," Apollo looks at him, "I believe the blue cave refers to the Oracle of Trophonius. It was a... a very dangerous ancient Oracle."
"No. The other lines. Three-seater, bronze fire-eater, yadda yadda." Ara feels something swelling in her chest the more her brother says, something tightly bound and almost impossible to contain, but she tries to, because she hates disappointment. "Harley's beacon." Percy stands and looks around. "He said you gave it a tuning adjustment? I guess that did the trick."
Ara's pulse is racing. "But we never got a response, we thought—" her throat closes up suddenly, tight with emotion.
"Were there any other lines?" Percy demands, staring at Apollo. "Like, except for the limerick?"
"Several," Apollo starts to catch up, his eyes set on Ara. "Just bits and pieces I didn't understand. The fall of the sun; the final verse. Um, Indiana, banana. Happiness approaches. Something about pages burning."
Percy squeezes Ara's shoulders, and it's great that he does that because otherwise Ara would've doubled over and fainted. "There you go! Happiness approaches. Happy is a name—well, the English version, anyway."
"Oh gods," Ara knows exactly where to look, spotting a tiny shape in the distance. "Oh, gods!"
"Apollo," Percy says with a huge smile. "Your escort is on the way."
Festus is spiraling down to the beach. Ara bolts downhill without saying anything, her voice is gone, her entire body buzzes with excitement and all she's thinking is a three-lettered name with huge exclamation points at the end of it. She can't remember ever being angry at Leo for leaving, can't remember being angry about the magic scroll having no messages for her. All she wants is to see him, to make sure he's alive, and most importantly, free of curses.
People call after her as she passes them running, but she doesn't stop, her soul light is glowing brighter than it's done in months, and everything around her is a blur of color and noises. She has a single goal in mind, and she reaches it the moment Festus crashes by the shore, a mix of sand and mud jumping everywhere, a large cloud of dust and smoke elevating from the collision obscuring her vision. Ara stumbles to a stop and surveys the cloud, eyes wide and lightheaded. Lily, Connor, and Nico are the first to reach her.
"No way..." Connor whispers.
"The crazy elf did it," Lily mumbles in Italian. "Lucky bastard!"
Someone grunts as they make their way out of the cloud, and suddenly, there he is. "Holy crap!" Leo coughs. "I'm so tired of crashlanding everywhere..."
It feels like she's been holding her breath for longer than a few seconds, Calypso comes out of the mess right after the boy, but Ara doesn't notice her at first. The campers gather around them, throwing nervous glances at their General, waiting to see what her reaction will be after months apart.
Leo locks eyes with her, blinks, and so abruptly it knocks the air right out of her lungs again, he smiles. That amazing, crooked grin she's begged the gods to see for six full months. "Leo..." she speaks hoarsely, but her joke dies without even starting.
"I know," he smirks, knowing what she's trying to say. "It's been three years and you're married to a fireman who looks like Apollo?"
Ara rushes forward and crashes against him, tightly wrapping her arms around his neck while crying. "You're here..."
Leo holds her with the same amount of emotion, he's shaking. "Gods, I missed you." He breathes, sounding just like her.
"Ara, c'mon you have the power to stop this!"
"I really don't," she mumbles against Leo's neck. "They're doing it for me, because they know I can't do it."
"They're not my girlfriend so I don't see why they get to punch me!"
"The line starts to the left! Orderly queue, guys!" Nico walks past handing out tickets. Ara's pretty sure he's given at least three to Lily.
"You scared my best friend and she cried for months, so man up and take the punishment," Lily punches his arm, doing little to hold back the impact.
"Ouch!"
"For what is worth, I don't think you deserve to be punished," Ara tilts her head so she can look at him, pressing her cheek on his shoulder.
Percy's eyes widen in disbelief. "You wanted to sink his head down the toilet for not leaving any sappy messages on the scroll!"
Leo snorts. "That scroll was for camp, though. I sent one just for you!" He looks at her. "You didn't get it?"
"What? I never got a scroll!"
"Ah, bummer, I was really proud of it, there were some Mr. Darcy-level bars in it," Leo shakes his head. "I'm sorry."
"I didn't know you sent one for me," she softens. "I'm sorry."
"That's—ow!"
"You're a jerk, and we all hate you," Miranda Gardner briefly kisses his cheek and pats his head. "If you ever disappear like that again, we'll line up to kill you."
"Okay, okay!" Leo huffs, leaning closer to Ara. "I'm not sure I'm happy to be back." But Ara's clinging to him and can feel his emotions. He's delighted with the attention, even if they're all punching him.
Percy shakes his head. "Six months, dude, you had my sister all worried. We're friends and everything, but I was seriously considering to go out there and hunt you down myself—"
"Do you think I wanted to leave Ara?" Leo scoffs, tightening his grip around her. "We tried sending more holographic scrolls. We tried Iris messages, dream visions, phone calls. Nothing worked. Ow! Hey, Alice, how you doing?" He smiles, rolling his shoulder to ease the pain. "Anyway, we ran into one crisis after another."
Calypso sighs. "Albania was particularly difficult."
"Please do not mention Albania!" Nico raises his voice. "Okay, who's next, folks? One line."
Ara scowls. "That only makes me wanna go there even more..."
"Typical." Leo kisses her forehead, then winces when another camper punches him. "Hey, Saggio, why are you holding five tickets? Girl, count your freaking days!" He goes back to the conversation. "So, like I was saying, if Festus hadn't picked up on that homing beacon yesterday, we'd still be flying around, looking for a way out of the Sea of Monsters."
"Oh, I hate that place," Percy makes a face. "There's this big Cyclops, Polyphemus—"
"I know, right?" Leo gawks. "What is up with that guy's breath?"
"Boys," Calypso speaks quietly, "perhaps we should focus on the present?"
Since the landing, Calypso has had trouble meeting Ara's eye, but the girl can tell she's no longer immortal, mostly because the moment she saw Percy there was a brief flash of bright pink coming out of her. Talking about awkward.
Ara doesn't hate the goddess, but it does make her slightly uncomfortable that she won't speak to her. Leo told her once that Calypso wanted to meet her, so she'd sort of, perhaps vainly, assumed that the goddess would rush up to her rambling out questions, but instead there she is, sitting stiffly next to Rachel Dare.
It could also have to do with the fact that Percy is here and she very much threw a curse at Annabeth without thinking and Percy totally knows of it since he spent time in Tartarus. Talking about awkward.
"So the communication issues..." Percy continues. "Rachel Dare thinks it's got something to do with this company, Triumvirate."
"Man, why does it not surprise me that modern corporations are run by zombie Roman emperors?"
"They are not zombies," Lester replies, eyeing the way Leo's holding Ara almost like a disapproving father. "And I'm not sure they run all corporations—"
Leo dismisses his comment. Apollo being here doesn't sit well with him, especially after hearing Ara spent the last two days alone with him in the woods. "But they're trying to take over the Oracles."
"Yes."
"And that's bad."
"Very."
"So you need our help. Ow! Hey, Sherman. Where'd you get the new scar, dude?"
While Sherman talks, Ara untangles herself from Leo, trying to lock eyes with Calypso, she glances at Lester, noticing he's doing the same. He's probably thinking the same she's thinking. Another immortal stripped down from her powers, that's gotta do something to the status quo, right?
Calypso does an odd movement on the table and her face falls when nothing happens, then she realizes Ara and Apollo are looking and blushes, fixing her eyes on Ara as she explains. "Since leaving Ogygia, I have no powers. I am fully mortal. I keep hoping, but—"
"You want a drink?" Percy offers offhandedly.
"I got it." Leo reaches across the table and pours the lemonade promptly. Ara scowls, no girl is ever amused when her boyfriend goes out of his way to serve another girl so earnestly. "Here you go."
"Thank you, Leo."
"No problem," he smiles sympathetically, then sits down and wraps his arm around Ara's shoulders and she feels the guilt coming out of him.
Ara observes him intently, Leo is looking slightly down at her and not up like six months ago, the rough environment and the physician's cure granted him seven or eight additional inches of height. Now he's taller than Nico and Ara, but not tall enough to reach Percy's—or Lester's—nose. Still, he came back to a lot, and Calypso is out here with nothing to her name, he's probably stressing about doing right by her.
They may not be doomed by a curse anymore, but Ara suspects that they'll never grow out of this awfully inconvenient habit they both have of helping people no matter what. They've changed entirely, but most of their hearts remain.
Harley gets to the front and punches Leo, then squeezes him in a tight hug. "Hey, brother." Leo says affectionately, patting the boy's head. "You brought me home with that beacon of yours, H-Meister. You're a hero! You know I never would've left you hanging like that on purpose, don't you?"
"Birdy helped me," Harley points out. "I love her."
Leo turns to look at her, delighted to see her flushed. "That makes two of us, buddy."
"So," Calypso continues, looking uncomfortable, "these problems with the Roman emperors—how can we help?"
"You will help me, then?" Lester blushes. "Despite... ah, well, I always knew you were kindhearted and forgiving, Calypso. I meant to visit you at Ogygia more often—"
"Spare me." Calypso wrinkles her nose. "I'll help you if Leo and Ara decide to help you, and they seem to have some affection for you. Why, I can't imagine."
"He's okay," Ara says, "if you look past the whining."
"I'm grateful," Lester decides to focus on Leo. "Leo Valdez, you have always been a gentleman and a genius. After all, you created the Valdezinator."
The boy beams. "I did, didn't I? I suppose that was pretty awesome. So where is this next Oracle you— Ow!"
Nyssa completely runs over Leo both verbally and physically in quick angry Spanish, something about his butt and Jesus. Ara is still in the early stages of learning the language and she hasn't reached the angry-mom-scolding level of fluency.
"Yeah, okay, okay." Leo raises his hands in surrender. "Dang, hermana, I love you, too!"
"Don't leave him out of your sight, Birdy," Nyssa points at her.
Ara smiles, snuggling against him and kissing his cheek. "Wouldn't dream of it."
Leo presses his cheek on her hair, hugging her tightly. "So this next Oracle, you said it was where?"
Percy taps the table to call for attention. "Chiron and I were talking about this. He figures this triumvirate thingie... they probably divided America into three parts, with one emperor in charge of each. We know Nero is holed up in New York, so we're guessing this next Oracle is in the second dude's territory, maybe in the middle third of the U.S."
"Oh, the middle third of the U.S.!" Leo exaggerates his joy. "Piece of torta, then. We'll just search the entire middle of the country!"
"Still with the sarcasm," Percy smiles a bit.
"Hey, man, I've sailed with the most sarcastic scalawags on the high seas."
"He's talking about you," Percy looks at her, then high-fives Leo.
Ara ignores that particular nightmare and thinks about Lester's prophetic lines. "Didn't the grove say something about Indiana?"
"I was just thinking that," Lester agrees. "Good place to start, isn't it? Relatively close when you have a flying dragon."
"My boy, I am so pleased to have you back," Chiron arrives in his wheelchair, pushed by Lily. Everything about that image screams danger. "And you freed Calypso, I see. Well done, and welcome, both of you!" He offers to hug Leo, which is extremely rare.
"Uh, thanks, Chiron." Leo hesitates before leaning into it.
In a flash, Chiron's hoove kicks Leo's belly making him grunt. "Mr. Valdez," he continues quietly, "if you ever pull a stunt like that again—"
"I got it, I got it!" Leo coughs, holding his stomach. "Dang, for a teacher, you got a heck of a high kick. Also, why am I getting kicked when Ara has done a lot more crazy things than I have?"
"I've never died," Ara disputes. "You did. Also, Chiron can't touch the gods's valuables."
"She's right, though that doesn't mean I don't know my way around the rules," he looks at her gravely. "General, if you do something foolish during the quest, I will have you repaint the Big House." Chiron gets taken away by Rachel, and Lily gets back to the front of the line.
Leo sighs in defeat. "Do it quick, ghost-face."
Lily punches him right on the spot she knows will numb his entire arm. Leo curses loudly in Spanish. "Yo, Nico!" He groans. "Please tell me that's it for the physical abuse!"
"For now." Nico comes to stand next to Lily. "We're still trying to get in touch with the West Coast. You'll have a few dozen people out there who will definitely want to hit you."
Leo scoffs. "Yeah, that's something to look forward to." He leans to whisper in Ara's ear. "Too late to run away and build a life in México?"
Ara chuckles and kisses his cheek. "Too soon."

The many, many references of chapter XI of Dorian Gray
This chapter can come across as a bit of a long, boring list of stuff. That's partly because it is a long, boring list of stuff, as we see how shallow Dorian's life of collecting trinkets and misdeeds is, compared with his lofty ambitions to be some kind of thought-leader of his age.
But it's Wilde, so a lot of this chapter has references and connotations that might not be obvious.
the sordid room of the little ill-famed tavern near the docks OK, this isn't particularly subtle given Wilde already tells us it's sordid and ill-famed. But it's probably not just a dodgy pub. Being near the docks implies that Dorian is hanging out with people in the lower classes, almost certainly including sex workers. I think there might also be a nudge-nudge wink-wink implication of homosexuality here - docks mean sailors, and the navy already had a reputation for homosexuality in Wilde's time.
Like Gautier, he was one for whom “the visible world existed.” Théophile Gautier, a French writer, critic and defender of Romanticism. He was flamboyant, unconventional and had lots of affairs.
he might really become to the London of his own day what to imperial Neronian Rome the author of the Satyricon once had been The author of the Satyricon is Petronius, a Roman courtier in the reign of Nero. He was dedicated to a life of pleasure and indulgence, and was an authority on questions of fashion and taste.
the materialistic doctrines of the Darwinismus movement in Germany Darwinismus means proto-eugenics, essentially. You know, in case you needed any more reasons to dislike Dorian.
the one that Bernal Diaz saw when he went with Cortes into the Mexican temple, and of whose doleful sound he has left us so vivid a description "They had an exceedingly large drum there, and when they beat it the sound of it was so dismal and like, so to say, an instrument of the infernal regions, that one could hear it a distance of two leagues, and they said that the skins it was covered with were of those great snakes." Wouldn't say it was that vivid a description, to be honest.
appeared at a costume ball as Anne de Joyeuse, Admiral of France, in a dress covered with five hundred and sixty pearls Despite how this sounds, Anne de Joyeuse was a man, and Dorian didn't go to the ball in drag. Anne de Joyeuse was probably one of Henry III's lovers. (This is the start of a theme developing).
Alexander, the Conqueror of Emathia This is Alexander the Great. (The theme continues).
Lodge’s strange romance ‘A Margarite of America’ A 16th century romance about the love affair between a Peruvian prince and a Russian princess. With a lot of gory bits.
the Duke de Valentinois, son of Alexander VI Otherwise known as Cesare Borgia, who inspired Machiavelli to write The Prince. There are all sorts of rumours about Cesare Borgia, ranging from having lots of mistresses (true) to gay relationships and incest with his sister (probably not true).
Charles of England had ridden in stirrups hung with four hundred and twenty-one diamonds This is presumably Charles I rather than Charles II (who was also Charles of England). Historic Royal Palaces - the people who run the Tower of London, among others - have him on their list of LGBT+ monarchs. They highlight this painting, where he's gazing at George Villiers, who also shagged his dad:
Richard II had a coat, valued at thirty thousand marks, which was covered with balas rubies Richard II, who was rumoured to have had an affair with Richard de Vere, Earl of Oxford.
Henry VIII Who only had relationships with women, as far as history is aware.
The favourites of James I wore ear-rings of emeralds set in gold filigrane Back on the theme again. James I was Charles I's dad, who had a secret passage built between his bedchamber and that of his favourite, George Villiers - the one in the picture up there ^. While most of the people on this list were only rumoured to have had gay relationships, no one really disputes it for James I.
Edward II gave to Piers Gaveston a suit of red-gold armour That would be his lover, Piers Gaveston.
Henry II. wore jewelled gloves reaching to the elbow Henry II, who was known to have shared a bed with William Marshal, the Earl of Pembroke. Which doesn't necessarily mean anything, but... you know. There's a theme.
Charles the Rash, the last Duke of Burgundy of his race At this point I can't tell if Wilde is deliberately throwing in some misdirection, like the mention of Henry VIII, or if my Google-powers have failed me.
the mortuary cloth of King Chilperic Oh hang on a tick. King Chilperic was a 6th century monarch who is known, among other things, for having strangled his wife. Just as Henry VIII had two of his wives executed. So the theme here is either queer relationships - or murdered women.
(We then of course get a series of notable historical figures who, so far as I can tell, don't have any connections to either of these things. Also this bit goes on for ages and this post is already very long, so I'm going to skip past them).
dreadful places near Blue Gate Fields A slum area just north of the docks in East London. Known for opium dens, brothels and murders. Some people have suggested this is an allusion to Jack the Ripper, even a suggestion that Oscar Wilde knew who Jack the Ripper was, which I'm reasonably confident is nonsense.
brawling with foreign sailors in a low den in the distant parts of Whitechapel So what I'm finding quite funny here is that all the dodgy and dissolute places that Wilde has Dorian go are literally just the same place.
Near the docks = East London, probably in the area of Whitechapel Blue Gate Fields = Whitechapel the distant parts of Whitechapel = that would be Whitechapel, then?
The very odd Jack the Ripper website I just read interprets Wilde's descriptions as meaning that he had some kind of hidden knowledge of London's underworld... just as the Ripper would have!! But to me this reads a lot more like Wilde was aware of one (1) suitably shady-sounding location and ran with it.
Here was Philip Herbert That would be James I's lover, Philip Herbert. (What, you thought we were done with these?)
Sir Anthony Sherard Is fictional, but...
the lover of Giovanna of Naples Giovanna of Naples was a real person, who probably murdered her husband. (Nice to get some variety among the murdered spouses).
Lady Elizabeth Devereux A Tudor noblewoman, known for a quite public affair.
George Willoughby... had been a macaroni of the eighteenth century, and the friend, in his youth, of Lord Ferrars I can't find much on George Willoughby, but Lord Ferrers shot his steward, and is known as the last peer to have been hanged in England.
the second Lord Beckenham... he had led the orgies at Carlton House Lord Beckenham is (I think) fictional; George IV, who held wild and extravagant parties at Carlton House, is not.
Tiberius, in a garden at Capri Googling this brings up articles titled things like "The Scandalous Private Life of Tiberius Caesar". That makes it sound like the fun activities of consenting adults, but that's grossly misleading. The people involved were rumoured to be often neither consenting nor adults.
reading the shameful books of Elephantis Elephantis was a Greek poet and physician who wrote a sex manual.
Caligula... Domitian... Elagabalus Caligula was known for sex and murder. Domitian was known for censorship and control of public morals. Elagabalus was known for sexual promiscuity with men and women.
And that's the lot! For the last few paragraphs of the chapter, Wilde actually spells out the various misdeeds of the people he discusses (sex and murder, unsurprisingly), thus sparing me from Googling them.
Congratulations if you made it this far.

Things I think about often and want to write about
Bones reaction to Scotty calling Spock and not him when Jim was dying
The fic I started years ago about Len going home for the first time since enlisting and his dad passes
The fic I started years ago about Len enlisting
The fic I started years ago about Len relapsing during a traumaversary and Pike talking him into staying
Spock asking Jim about his agreeing with Uhura about being mad at him about his reaction to nearly dying in the Volcano
What was the two week coma was like for Bones?
What was it like for Spock?
The effects of the mind meld with Jim and Spock Prime
What would the aftermath of the mirror!verse mind meld be like in AOS?
What if Pike had lived?
Does Chekov know who Jim is since he apparently read Pike's dissertation on thr Kelvin?
Does Khan know who Jim is considering the archive he bombed is named for the Kelvin?
Does Spock know about Tarsus considering the look he gives Jim during the meeting where it states Khan was a Tarsus survivor?
Do the other officers there know Jim was there if it was in the fake file, is it also so openly in Jim's?
Was Syl a medical officer?
Would the Khan Incident have diverged the timelines into the Mirror!verse if Marcus had successfully started a war? If Jim and the main cluster managed to survive would they live their lives as fugitives or could it have been another crew Marcus sent out and the Enterprise crew sets out to reinstate the Starfleet they believed in before the war?
Could events with Nero somehow started another timeline split and led to the Mirror!verse?
Was Pike on the rescue mission to Tarsus?
Did Pike know George Kirk?
Where was Sulu prior to the Enterprise? Was the Nero Incident his first off world mission?
Does Bones know Jim almost stayed in Yorktown?
Were there long term effects of Krall starting the draining process on Sulu?
Were there any lingering effects of Spock nearly having his skull crushed twice?
If the Empire was well-established when Jim gets his ship, how does that look in AOS? Does the crossing of timelines inspire them that they can affect change in the Empire?
How many people did they lose in the initial attack at Altimid?

Can you write a reader who is a jazz singer with the DMC men?
my main inspiration for this headcanon is the ‘Stay High’ cover by Haley Reinhart in the style of 1930’s vintage jazz: https://youtu.be/7hHZnvjCbVw?si=EnbZch_hwT4B-hi1
Maybe it’s the weekend when the gang decided to hang out at a local pub but since it was closed due to maintenance reasons, they decided to hang out at a random jazz bar instead. Turns out, it’s much better than they expected, it’s cozy; the drinks are delicious; the vibes are immaculate but most importantly, the jazz singer is devilishly talented with the way her singing had managed to bewitch everyone’s heart and soul. It doesn’t help when she’s quite a looker as well
Sure!
Sparda boys + V x Jazz Singer!Reader headcannons
¤ Dante ¤
-Dante was just chilling at this new bar that opened up, not expecting much, just some mediocre drinks.
-Then a song began to play and singer had one of the prettiest, sultry voices he'd ever heard.
-Dante was absorbed in your singing, and when the song eventually stopped, he had to admit, he was disappointed.
-He'd heard plenty of talented singers in his lifetime, sure, but you could beat them all any day.
-He found himself returning to that pub several times a week, not for the drinks, as the others at Devil May Cry might assume, but for you.
-When he'll actually get up and talk to you is a mystery, though.
■ Vergil ■
-Vergil didn't want to go to that bar, initially, but he let everyone drag him along because secretly he wants to spend time with them.
-He was sitting awkwardly in the corner like the dork he was, until he heard a new song began to play and this lovely voice start singing.
-He was completely lost in your singing, unable to concentrate on his book, forgetting that he was sitting next to other people, and for a moment, looked up from his poetry to see the face of this gorgeous singer.
-He'd never seen a more beautiful woman in his life. Standing up there, illuminated by the dim bar lights, you looked like an angel.
-Vergil really wanted to introduce himself because if he didn't, you might disappear forever, but he was just so internally nervous, he couldn't bring himself to do it.
-With some nudging from Dante the others, he managed to MOTIVATE himself enough to walk up there and talk to you. He ended up chatting with you for about 15 minutes before walking away with an ego boost and your phone number written on paper in his pocket.
□ Nero □
-Nero was supposed to just be going out for a night with his dad and uncle, not to fall in love.
-But here he was, sitting against the counter of a bar, some lame-tasting drink in his hands, condensation dripping down the sides of the glass as he stared languidly at the stage.
-And there you were, in your lovely white dress, belting out lyrics Nero wasn't really paying attention to. Your voice was all he needed to focus on, all he would ever focus on, if given the chance.
-Dante saw him ready to fall asleep thanks to your singing and decided to punch Nero in the shoulder to make sure he didn't fall asleep. Then he urged him to go introduce himself before it was too late.
-Nero is far too introverted to care; he doesn't have to talk to you to enjoy your beautiful singing voice, so he tells Dante to leave him the F alone.
-Nero keeps coming back to that bar. You've see him so many times, he might as well live there. Perhaps you will be the one to introduce yourself first.
● V ●
-V decided it would be a good idea to walk around and stretch his legs for a bit, and ended up venturing into a pub.
-V isn't one to drink, but after noticing the menu offered cheaply priced tea, he decided it wouldn't hurt to sit and relax a while.
-He watched several shows and listened to a few live songs, but none of them could compare to the splendor that was your singing.
-After hearing you for the first time, V's mind was absolutely blown. You sounded like an angel, a true celestial being descended from heaven to bless his ears.
-V relished the moment; the song had served to inspire him to wrote poetry, right there in the bar.
-While he might never go and introduce himself, but he will keep returning to this bar, just to hear you sing.

For Myr & Tristam , thank you for succumbing
I will always happily succumb oblige to you taking the time to ask me about the orcinus orca project blorbos ♪(´▽`)🩵 ask game
(oh dear I'm so sorry this got super long, putting the read more jail up-)
🌅 (sunrise) - What does [Myr]/[Tristam] look forward to every day? Do they have something to look forward to in the first place? What makes them wake up in the morning? Why do they want to be alive?
[Myr] - Before Reborn came to effectively buy her off the hands of her family under order of the Ninth, Myr's only reason to go on was the hope that things somehow would change. That her condition as disowned would eventually be shaken, one way or another. After all, Tristam would have inherited the title of Ninth Nero Signore, something had to happen at that point, right?
Her dad once told her she was capable of wonderful things nobody in the Cavalieri could have ever even imagined to do. She held onto those words for years, believing that she would have managed one way or another. She had Lidija, Anemone, the plants and the birds. The taste of stolen honey from the pantry, the smell of the gourds growing in the greenhouses she wasn't supposed to visit. Each day, the world would give her a reason not to give up. And when it didn't, she'd remind herself that she's stronger than that, than anybody. She's the strongest of all.
Now that she's in Namimori, things are changing rapidly. Food doesn't have to be earned or stolen, people look for her and call her name. It's ethereal, and she wonders if she can let herself hang onto these new things. The plants and the birds don't change, they stay in their flowerbeds and nests. But what about people?
[Tristam] - well, he's destined for greatness. That's what he's been told since the day he was born. He has a duty, he must become the next Cavalieri boss and bring the family towards a new age of prosperity, like the Fifth Nero Signore did before him.
He's feared and admired, and every day he makes new steps towards a world where that's the same for his family. For far too long the Cavalieri have stayed in the comfortable shadows, while the Vongola, the Cavallone, and the Giglio Nero feasted under the light of the sun. Why should them act different? They have the right. They have the Pallid Flame, a power made to be revered.
Every day, he dreams to be seated among them, the old and decrepit bosses of the other families, shining among them like a gem in the mud.
🍊(orange) - Is [Myr]/[Tristam] more selfish or selfless? Are they willing to sacrifice themselves or their goals for others? Why are they this way?
[Myr] - Myr doesn't want to be selfish, but as someone who was denied everything she ever wanted, there's no way she has the self-control not to let that part surface.
However, she tries. She's seen Lidija, how many times she risked getting punished for helping her simply because she wanted to, how seriously she took the job of bringing her more food and providing her with everything she needed. She admires people like that.
But Myr is a taker. She wants to be selfless because it brings praise and builds connections, but she will always need something in return. She deserves it, right? After all she was forced to endure, she deserves everything else, right?
[Tristam] - Tristam likes to reciprocate the good deeds his subordinates do for him, but ultimately only to ensure their loyalty towards him. He'd never throw his life, his royal statement of existence, for someone who wasn't even strong enough to survive on their own. It's simply not his destiny.
🍁 (maple leaf) - What brings [Myr]/[Tristam] joy? Do they find happiness in the small things? Does it take a lot to cheer them up?
[Myr] - Myr would love to pass as the one who finds joy in the little things, but what really makes her happy is being seen, heard and praised. Attention is what truly makes her know she's doing the right thing, that she's going through the right path.
Wether this path is good or bad for her matters little, as long as someone is watching her taking it. Knowing she has a duty to follow through with or someone to not let down reminds her that somewhere at the end of it all there's acceptance.
[Tristam] - Tris's joy is himself, he needs very little else. Or, that's what he thinks. He finds it easier to think that whenever there's someone else in the room. Being so intimidating, very few can stand an informal conversation with him.
And he appreciates those few who can, so much so that sometimes... he wish they'd stay there. No need to be talking, that's exhausting after a while. Just being there. He can't put it to words - someone of his caliber shouldn't need anything or anyone other than himself to find joy. His existennce should suffice him, yearning doesn't suit him.

love the demo, it gave me brainrot. I wanted to ask in a modern au, what are the ROs like in an escape room, oooh would be nice if you could include our dads too! :)
Ahh, an escape room!
SALVATORE, if it's a group effort, would be the best at rallying other people together to gather clues. They're better for bouncing ideas off, rather than someone who produces them instead. They are rather thorough in their searching, and are very good at communicating what they know or see! The best to partner with, cooperative wise, in an escape room.
LUCIEL would take the escape room with all the solemnity it deserves. They're utterly serious, taking care to look through what you're given with a discerning eye. They're also the best when the escape room makes you panic or nervous, because they're never visibly shaken by the loud, ticking timer. Their mere presence allows you to think through things calmly and rationally look at all the information.
CIOCANA is the most quick-thinking of the ROs, so they're the best, intellectually, to solving the escape room quickly. They might be slightly annoying to play with, though, because they try to get you to solve it for yourself as well, dropping hints and teases and only proceeding once you figure it out, too. If there is something that stumps them and you figure it out, though, they'll melt inwardly!
ALESSI has sharp eyes and good problem-solving skills, and while Luciel beats them in observation and Ciocana outmatches them in analytical thinking, Alessi has the best intuition and creativity. For particularly out-of-the-box thinking that might not be solved simply through looking or logic, they're the best for coming up with ideas that other people have not thought of before. Unorthodox or particularly tricky problems are their forte!
NERO would probably not do great in a team effort escape room, and would only do marginally better with Rafaele or MC. Primarily because it does not occur to him quickly that he should be communicating, and will individually work on his own investigations. You'll have to coax ideas or thoughts out of him, but if you really insist that he cooperate, he will do so—a little flatly, not because he's against the idea, but that's just... how he is!
RAFAELE, in contrast, would be pretty neurotic. Maybe even a little useless. He would tell everything from you, even if they were completely irrelevant or trivial, but he does get to catch your attention to things that many people would overlook or think nothing of that would actually be a pretty big clue! That is, if you can learn to sift through his ramblings for important information, when it's almost always 99% not useful. However, he'd always be supportive and cooperative, and would get very into the game!
There's honestly something so comforting about Thank you so much for the cute ask!! 💕💕
