🎈 Happy 7th anniversary to Natsume Mito’s album, Natsumelo 🎈
Natsume’s first and only album. Released in 2017. Around 1,200 copies sold. Debuted at 64 on the charts. Came and went like a bus. But it was far more consistent and better in quality than what Nakata was putting out for Capsule, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu and Perfume at the time.

the way perfumes new album just came out and all you’ve said is you like moon (rip gorgeous you’ll always be famous) and talk about how you love natsumelo… another album from 7 years ago the shade…
Listennnnn I didn’t mean it to come off shady!! I love perfume and moon went certified platinum in my house (and by the sounds of it you can relate) I like the vibe of the album it’s gonna take a few listens for me to connect with it but it’s perfume so it’s good guaranteed! I think I like moebius the most
I love natsumelo I’ll always find any opportunity to talk about that album lmao also NAMAIKI just came on my Spotify and COLTEMONIKA is so so so good I love

Comic Explorer Perspective and Thoughts (First full listen-through since 2016 release)
The bad - “Miracle Worker” and “Next Stage With You” have nice melodies but the synth pads are so fucking awful and depressingly embarrassing. At the end of “Next Stage With You,” there’s a string synth in the background that I literally could create on my $120 Casio Synthesizer. “Miracle Worker” just sounds like it’s straight off of WAVE RUNNER, which is most certainly a bad thing for Perfume standards after the flawless production of JPN and LEVEL3. Also, I have never liked “Flash” or “Star Train” in either CE mix or single mix, so I always skip those two as well. Don’t even get me started on Baby Face.
The good - “Tokimeki Lights (CE Version)” and “Cling Cling (CE Version)” make the album worth coming back to, though. I just can’t get over how lackluster the first half of the album is, though. It’s worse than the first half of JPN!
Just being being snobby -
The concepts of structure and space seriously do not fit with my ideal aesthetic choices for Perfume. Nothing beats Triangle’s fuzzy, heavy sound for me or LEVEL3′s crisp, powerful sound. JPN has aged the best, but Cosmic Explorer is a leap backward to GAME’s production, but without the iconic hooks and memorable concepts.
[[[WARNING: KIND OF SAPPY]]]
I’ve been with Perfume since they released Dream Fighter EP in 2008 (and the epic video!!!). Triangle and JPN were pivotal albums for me during high school (secondary school), not only musically, but emotionally. LEVEL3 came out my senior (4th) year, and quickly became one of my favorite albums of all time by any artist. I hope Nakata never stops creating music that we can laugh to, cry with, sing with, and in which we can connect with other cultures and peoples across the world. “Dream Fighter” is still my favorite Perfume song of all time (followed by “1mm,” “VOICE,” “Unnatural Girl,” and “LTW”) and I will support to and listen to Perfume until I literally rot dead in my fucking casket.
Here’s to what’s next for Nakata and our 3 main bitches. (5 if you include Toshiko and Natsume!) #prfm

So my friend suggested to play the whole album for me on our way to Hooters. I askrd him if he’s sure and he said yeah. I also gave all of them a disclaimer that Mito isn’t the best singer, her music didn’t sell that much, and the theme of the album was nostalgia.
Here are their comments:
Some of my friends were singing along to Maegami Kirisugita (choki choki), Colony (colo-colony), and Moshimo Cooking (yume no cooking). Odekake Summer's intro sounds like an old Sonic level They laughed when they heard that sound between the verse and chorus on 8-bit Boy. One of them was amazed that it was the theme song of the Japanese dub of Pixel. Also a friend of mine on snapchat asked me Mito's name when this song was on my story. While Natsumelo was playing, I told them it was the title track. One of them said "So this is a summer song?" I said "Yeah it sounds like it, why?" "Because natsu means summer in Japanese." Then theb conversation shifted to me not knowing what Natsu means. I told one of them about Puzzle is an ending theme song to Puzzles and Dragon X and he said that he didn't know that it had an anime At the end of the whole day, i played the CD again and my friend who was driving me home was whistling to Fuusen to Hari.

Kyary Pamyu Pamyu after hearing how Nakata turned it out for Natsumelo.
#Kyary Pamyu Pamyu#Mito Natsume#Natsumelo#Gurl you need to have words with Nakata and ask why he did you like that with Pikapika fantajin and those weak 2016 singles#Yasutaka Nakata#YSTK

Mito Natsume Lyrics: Puzzle (パズル)
English translation and romanization below the cut.
ENGLISH
If we go on an adventure, I just know... Choose a direction! C’mon, it’s a New World I’d love to even change The color of the sky with a free hand
In a labyrinth with you. I don’t plan on traveling the entire world But I can’t just stand here forever Solve the puzzle of every single star You wanna move on to the next thing, don’t you? You wanna move on to the next thing, don’t you?
Might just be eternity. I just know... Find the equation I’d love to redo All the wiring in the world with a free hand
In a labyrinth with you. I don’t plan on traveling the entire world But I can’t just stand here forever Solve the puzzle of every single star You wanna move on to the next thing, don’t you?
In a labyrinth with you. I don’t plan on traveling the entire world But I can’t just stand here forever Solve the puzzle of every single star You wanna move on to the next thing, don’t you?

Quote

Do you think Sony has already dropped Mito? Also, I've noticed what you said months earlier about Sawa's album that has tanked, her album and Natsumelo almost got the same number of copies sold, and Mito's Sony website didn't have any details except for her discography... so what does it imply? It would be great if she is given another chance for another album 'cuz Natsumelo was a cohesive one despite 2 years of previously-released material.
SAWA’s album (Welcome to Sa-World) was a masterpiece and I encourage anyone who knows how to find it to go listen to it.
Anyway, dropping an artist isn’t something that just takes place overnight shortly after poor-selling releases -- there’s a contract to consider among a host of other factors. I think Natsume is still touring right now and they wouldn’t drop her in the middle of a tour. Wait a few months and see if she has a new release announced. Sometimes it can take two years of nothing before you find out an artist is on their way out or splitting from their label (SAWA went quiet after her album and then resurfaced having left Sony; Yun*chi looks to be on her farewell release after a period of inactivity for two years).
