It's National Public #Health Week, and to celebrate we're sharing 5 easy ways to get moving at #work. 1. Eliminate the wheely chair! This forces you to get out of your chair when you need to get something. 2. Walk to a colleague's office for face-to-face time rather than phone or email. This gets you moving and helps inter-office relations. 3. #Walk when you can while on the phone or during load times. 4. Skip the elevator, take the stairs. 5. Stretch every 20 minutes. Work those into your daily #habits and you'll have less aches and pains, plus more #energy! Welcome to the Palm State of #Wellness. #PSWwell #arkworld #exercise #getmoving #nationalpublichealthweek #publichealth #healthyliving #healthychoices #active #livethelifeyoulove #loveyourself

It is #FactFriday! This week, April 6-12, is National Public Health Week! Did you know that only 3% of United States' health care spending is on prevention and public health programs? Public Health professionals, like myself, are striving to create the healthiest nation in one generation. According to this infographic we are only ranked on 34th in life expectancy! You can help us improve our lives by educating yourself and help spread the word! By @americanpublichealth "Can the U.S. become the #healthiestnation? Americans believe we’re the healthiest in the world, but in reality, we rank 34th in life expectancy. To learn what we can do to improve U.S. health, check out the full infographic on APHA’s website: bit.ly/APHAgraphic1 #NPHW #NationalPublicHealthWeek #ThisIsPublicHealth #PHNerd #PublicHealthNerdMSPH

It's day two of National Public Heath Week and today's theme is: Don't panic. Read our blog post for day 2 of #NPHW and emergency preparedness: http://bit.ly/1jqEPQZ Every winter, God's Love delivers emergency boxes called Blizzard Boxes to our clients, in the event that we cannot deliver due to inclement weather. We were so fortunate to have delivered these this year, as we had very difficult weather and had a few days of snow that made delivering impossible. Lucky, our clients had their Blizzard Boxes! Pictured here are the contents of this year's Blizzard Boxes, and a great team photo of our volunteers who put these boxes together! #NPHW #NationalPublicHealthWeek (at God's Love Brooklyn)

Public Health
Take a second to think about what you consider to be Public Health. I am inspired by the people around me who work against odds to provide a healthier environment for EVERYONE! There is Dana Harmon who just rode a stationary bike for 60+ miles to raise money for kids who might not have the opportunity to play organized team sports • There are nurses who work there ass off to help patients through tough times• My dad who has to painstakingly compound medicine for his hospital because of drug shortages• Politicians who take a hit when they push policies that they strongly believe will assist with creating health equity• The global effort to eradicate malaria to help foreign nations prosper • Churches and food banks that help assure people have a meal to eat and do not go hungry • Our National, State and Community Parks • the social networks like newspapers, blogs, Facebook that help increase awareness of available aide like during the snow storms earlier this year• Teachers who strive to teach kids how to learn Public Health is for EVERYONE to PRACTICE! Whether it's saying "hey" to someone to brighten their day or to step forward as an innovator to show people how miracles are a possibility or a leader who takes a risk because they believe the outcome will be greater than the dislike people portray initially. In honor of National Public Health Week I would love for you to comment below and tell me what you consider to be Public Health and Share/ tag this post with others you believe to be part of the Public Health Community.
