With the sun in their eyes and the Lord at their backs by National Library of Ireland on The Commons Via Flickr: The Krazy Kataloguers have been at it again describing the beautifully constructed temporary emporium as a "Mission Toy Stall"! The vendor is standing in the shadows of rosary beads while statues of the Virgin Mary and Crucifixes stand on the counter would be objects of devotion rather than play? Apart from all of that the children standing in front of the stall make an interesting contrast. The ones on the left are dazzled by the sunshine and are well shod while those on the right are unaffected by the sun and are barefoot! The Wall of the Wars by National Library of Ireland on The Commons Via Flickr: Herbert Ward's Studio in Paris looks like something from the days of Empire, as no doubt it was indeed? The selection of what appear to be weapons is extraordinary, and would appear to come from Africa and Asia, and perhaps some other continents in there for good measure. Who was Herbert Ward (a friend of Casement and an explorer of the Congo) and why would he have had such a collection?
