So let's talk height.

So the average human height in our world is a little difficult to ascertain, but in 1996 was thought to be 5'7" for men, and 5'3" for women. Now, I don't think that the devs have coded in the gendered height difference to Veilguard, so let's just average that out to 5'5" and apply that to this image. (Very Scientific I know, I've not even accounted for the fact that human heights have increased over the last 200 years on average.) Assuming that all these characters are set to 50% in the character creator (very scientific) that means the human man here is 5'5". After doing a little screen measuring and maths, that means that the average height of a qunari is 6'2", elf average is 4'11", and dwarf average is 4'2". Obviously, these are averages, so there will be taller/shorter people. Also, I'm doing a lot of rounding and conversion because I hate the imperial system, so I may be a little off. What's the range of heights available in the character creator, though? Not sure, I'd need to be able to measure the difference. Expect a more accurate update when I get ahold of the character creator!

And i dont mean this in a hating solas way (irl) but at least in my lavellans case they went through hell and back in inquisition, and finding out solas wants to tear down the veil, effectively destroying the world as they know it, was the final straw. As in they were barely keeping it together before, and this caused them to spiral. Like a mental break happened. And that manifested in a very uh. Violent and hunting down solas at all costs kinda way.

do you ever think about the fact that sera's adoptive human mother convinced her AS A CHILD that a total stranger hated her because of her race - to protect the woman's own pride, mind you!! it wasn't even true!! racist AND self-absorbed!!!! (which tbqh the venn diagram is a circle) - and the ramifications of sera cutting herself off as soon as she starts to say, "i hated her, and i hated- (myself)" and how ungenerously the fandom interprets her pain and makes it all about their picture perfect elf oc. because i do.

I was thinking about how little we know about the story pre-eragon. How little we know about the Riders, about Vrael, about the Forsworn, about the dragons, everything. What we get are just different people's versions, different points of view.

As an example, think of Brom's tale at the beginning of Eragon. Literally, it says that Galbatorix kicked Vrael in the balls and thus won the battle. How did he know? Who was with Galbatorix? It's entirely possible that Brom came up with something like this to insult Galbatorix and make him more contemptible in the eyes of the people, who knew nothing of history. It certainly isn't the king's version of events, but he too could very well be lying and we'll never know the truth.

Maybe Brom hadn't actually lied, but it was a rumor that had been spread by some Rider or by the elves themselves and he believed it.

What do we know about the order? How right were they, how good were they? Were they really corrupt? Elves speak highly of them, but since we all know very well how selfish and lying elves are, I wouldn't even consider their opinion. They probably liked the order because it suited them, with humans subservient and their own people in charge.

And the dwarfs? They're not entirely interested in the Order of the Riders, because they weren't included in the pact. They just wanted Galbatorix out of the way to have more freedom again and at the very least take revenge on the clan that had been destroyed by him and the Forsworn in Ilirea.

The only witnesses of the past were Brom, Galbatorix and Oromis. Each of them had a reason to lie and a different point of view of what happened.

Forgot to say: I don’t remember the exact circumstances, but I remember that in OUAT Snow White decides to bite the poison apple as a method of self-sacrifice, knowing full well that it’s poisoned.

And as many flaws as OUAT has, I like that. It’s not Snow White—she’s supposed to be innocent and with that comes a certain naïveté—but it’s still a good idea to have the Princess, or the Hero, be a character of sacrifice.

hello as i attempt to become active on tumblr again i will actually be making a vested effort to not rb as much labru bc as much i do enjoy laios and labru, i'm into labru bc of what it means for kabru's character arc primarily and i am lowkey exhausted by how so much kabru art is focused on his ships w white ppl. so unless the labru is v focused on kabru, and not only how he feels abt laios, especially if it is posted by a white person, i'mma try to limit rbs. it is super exhausting to go thru the kabru tags on both twt and tumblr and everything's abt his ships w white ppl. also sucks that the kabrin and toshikabu stuff (his main 2 poc4poc ships) that gets popular is mostly made by white ppl as well, esp kabrin, and therefore often falls flat in their racial dynamics, and also somehow often still has to include a white person anyway. i also want to see more of his dynamics w other characters, and more of his platonic dynamics. so i will be attempting to keep that balance on my blog. i like laios well enough but. i'm a butch of the orient, a colonized and racialized person, dunmeshi in part hooked me with its anticolonial politics and worldbuilding. that's a big part of why i love kabru!
