Hey, can I request a oneshot where Y/n (Mycroft's spouse) suddenly brought a puppy home; they found the puppy on the sidewalk. They brought the puppy home, cleaned him up, and then went to the pet store to buy supplies like dog food, toys, a bed, and a pad for the puppy to pee or poop on. They returned home with all the supplies.
Mycroft finally arrived home after a long day at work. He found Y/n on the floor and was confused at first until he saw the puppy they were playing with. He was perplexed and definitely against it at first, but a few weeks later, Y/n finds Mycroft in the living room with the puppy on his lap while Mycroft reads his newspaper.
Thank you in advance!
Thank you for your request! Requests are open as of 18/06/2024. Tags at end. To be removed/added to the taglist, send an ask or DM me. Critics welcomed, reblogs appreciated! :)
Today was one of those rare days off you had from work, but as usual, it was never in sync with Mycroft's busy schedule. You had awoken to a cold bed with the sun already beaming through the crack in the curtains. With a sigh, you climbed out of bed and stretched, making your way downstairs. A vase of sunflowers stood on the kitchen counter, a card beside it on top of a box of London’s finest pastries.
Good morning, my love.
Salon appointment at two p.m.
Take care of yourself.
Love,
M.H.
You smiled, admiring the set up and the time taken out of Mycroft’s morning. Of course he had booked out an entire salon; nails, hair, facials, drinks…
After getting comfortably dressed (a change from your usual business attire), eager to eat more than a few pastries (it would be unfair to try only a couple, after all), you ran downstairs and popped the kettle on.
As you sipped your tea, you pondered how to spend the rest of your day until a car picked you up at one-thirty. The idea of a long walk around the estate seemed appealing, especially with the rare London sun.
Spring coat and boots on, you set out for your walk. The streets were quiet unlike the bustling inner city, and she much appreciated the calm; it allowed for decompression after high stress days at your demanding job. As she turned a corner into a small park, she noticed a small bundle of fur huddled in the bushes fronting the blue-painted metal rails. Curiosity piqued, you approached cautiously.
To your surprise, it was a puppy, shivering despite the unusual warmth, alone. You were expecting a rabbit, likely dead after the foxes got to it, not an uncommon sight in this area. The little creature looked up at you with wide, fearful eyes. You kneeled, allowing your hand to be sniffed before you picked it up. Upon further inspection, it was only a couple of weeks old, the size of your hand, and bore no collar.
"Poor thing, you must be freezing," you murmured, stroking its soft fur as you held it close to your chest. "Let's get you home."
She made a quick stop at a nearby pet store and vet clinic, purchasing everything the puppy would need—food, a bed, toys, and a small collar, which you left unetched without a name, only your phone number on the back of the tag.
By the time she arrived back at the house, her arms were full of supplies, and the puppy seemed much more comfortable in your breast pocket. The clinic had not detected a microchip, making you wonder how long the pup had been outside as you set up a cozy corner in the living room. You watched as the puppy explored its new surroundings, following you with tiny, tentative paw taps to the kitchen, where you poured some water and food into its bowls.
"Mycroft is not going to like this," you thought out loud with a wry smile, imagining his reaction. But the sight of the puppy, now curled up contentedly in its new bed, made her feel certain she had made the right decision.
The rest of the day passed in a blur of playing with the puppy, canceling your salon appointment and ride through Anthea, and preparing dinner after the pup grew tired enough to fall asleep in its bed. As evening fell, you found yourself anxiously awaiting Mycroft's return, wondering how he would react to your new addition and fearing his disappointment of being unable to enjoy his planned day for you.
The grandfather clock struck once, indicating five-thirty and you arose from the dining table to head to the front door. You opened it to see Mycroft, who was pleasantly surprised at your greeting.
“Good evening, darling. How was your day?” he asked, heading in. His smile immediately turned to scrutiny as he sensed something was wrong. “You didn’t go… Why do you have cat hair on you?” Mycroft asked, looking at you.
“Dog, Mycroft,” you rolled your eyes. You weren’t anxious anymore, just keen to see Mycroft discover what you’d done. You followed him to the living room, where he froze at the sight of the sleeping puppy across from you.
“Y/N, what on earth were you thinking? How will you care for it?” Mycroft cried. He never called you by your name. Only ‘Mr/Miss/Mx L/N’ before marriage, and ‘my love’ and ‘darling’ after.
“Mycroft!” you were taken aback, but still attempted to explain your situation. “She was abandoned on the side of the road, no collar, no chip. I couldn’t leave her there!”
“Do you know how many shelters there are in London? One-thousand-two-hundred-and-twenty-seven! Any one of them would have taken it in.” Mycroft was exasperated. “Y/N, please think before making such decisions…” he trailed off, softening his tone and expression as he caught sight of your teary eyes. He walked to you, touching your cheeks and kissing your forehead. “I love you. I don’t love that,” he indicated to the puppy with his head. “I do not want this matter to cause any stress to our relationship. I’m sorry for shouting at you.”
You nodded, forcing a smile. “It’s okay. I’ll see what I can do about her as soon as possible.”
You understood where Mycroft was coming from. Both of you worked full-time, and taking care of a puppy who was rapidly transforming into a full-grown dog was like taking care of a toddler. She would need to be trained, spayed, played with for mental stimulation… it was going to be a lot.
While Mycroft showered, you heated up dinner. As the two of you ate, the puppy awoke and padded to the dining room, watching Mycroft curiously. The two of them stared at the other intently, frozen in place, and you watched in amusement.
That night, you lay in bed on your side against Mycroft’s chest. It was a miracle that the puppy had not followed you upstairs, but was instead sleeping soundly in the living room.
-
Mycroft had been sitting on the sofa after dinner, reading their mail while she tried to reach the seat beside him. Watching her struggle for a couple of minutes from the corner of his eye, he finally sighed and picked her up. She lay down next to Mycroft’s side, and he begrudgingly had let her. She fell asleep, as Mycroft mumbled, mostly to himself. “You don’t have a name, do you? You are rather annoying, going to places you don’t belong. Sofas are for humans, the dog bed, as implied in the name, is for you.” Mycroft thought for a moment, then chuckled in revelation. “Sheryl.” He seemed pleased with the name.
-
“Mycroft?” you say quietly, unable to see him. The curtains have been drawn for the night, the bed toasty from your combined body heat.
“Hmm?”
“Are you jealous of her?”
There is a pause. “That is preposterous! Go to sleep,” you can feel him shaking his head as he is ripped from his near sleep.
You smile to yourself, turning around and kissing his cheek before drifting off to sleep.
-
Days went by, and you spent all of your lunch breaks and the extra ten minutes you had in the mornings at work calling animal shelters in London, despite the heartache. It would not be difficult at all to get the pup into one, just inhumane. Unsurprisingly, they were all overcrowded and underfunded. You glanced up from the website you were reading on your phone to the stack of paperwork overshadowed by your boss. You sighed.
“Working, are we, Mr/Mrs/Mx Holmes?” Ms Smallwood sneered, saying your name as if it were sour milk.
“Yes, apologies, ma’am. No excuses,” you said, grabbing a pen and opening the first file.
Her beady eyes watched you for a moment before huffing and storming out on her four-inch heels.
You shot Mycroft a quick text.
Going to be late, sorry. Lots of paperwork, ughh. Can’t wait to get a transfer. - Y/F/I.H.
Don’t worry, my love. I’ll have dinner and a bath ready. Don’t stress, my darling. I shall see you this evening. - M.H.
You smiled at your husband’s preemptiveness, silently thanking the universe for having him to go home to.
It was quarter-to-seven when you arrived home. You walked through the hallway past the empty study and dining room, the aroma of dinner making your mouth water. In the living room, you could see Mycroft, engrossed in reading the newspaper… out loud? Mycroft saw you, and hushed you, pointing to the sleeping puppy curled up against his belly. He finished reading one last sentence of today’s headlining news: ‘Two murdered bodies found in abandoned freezer at Wembley Sainsbury’s.’
“Goodnight, Sheryl, sleep well,” Mycroft said quietly, putting the newspaper down and patting her gently before picking her up and placing her in her bed. He then walked over to you. “Hello, darling, how was your day?”
“Sheryl, huh?” you laughed.
“Too late to change it now, I have already had it engraved,” Mycroft said matter-of-factly. “I have already fed her–one cup–walked her around the estate, had her pee, and read her a bedtime story, of course.”
You squealed in joy, engulfing Mycroft in a hug. “We’re keeping her?!”
“Yes, of course we are, darling. How else will I keep in shape?”
“Oh, Mycroft! You’re already perfect. I love you! I can’t believe we get to keep her!”
Every night onwards, Sheryl lay in wait in front of the dinner table for the two of you to finish eating and take her for a walk. She would chase butterflies in the very park she was found in before returning to her home, where Mycroft would read her the headlines and let her pick her bedtime story from the papers. Some days it was stock trading tips, obituaries and juicy celebrity gossip, other days it was how her Uncle Sherlock was saving the arses of the Met Police, and gruesome murder-suicides. Every night, she fell asleep in Mycroft’s lap, even when she grew up to be a huge German shepherd. Every night, you snapped a picture of the two, compiling the photographs into an album that showed how their bond strengthened and their kinship blossomed.

Take Care
Sherlock and Mycroft x little sister!reader, John x teen!reader
Requested by Anonymous
Synopsis: you get a startling diagnosis that turns everyone around you overprotective
Warnings: cancer, mentions of death (no actual death)
“She…she has what?”
John looked up from his newspaper at the sound of Sherlock’s distress. He had picked up a call from Mycroft and answered with the usual bored disdain, but after listening for a moment he had sat up rigid in his chair.
“I see,” Sherlock went on. “I’ll be right over, I…oh. Yes, alright.”
“What was that all about?” John asked as Sherlock put the phone down. After a moment, John thought he wasn’t going to answer, but finally he spoke, his voice dazed.
“What? Oh, Y/N, she’s…Mycroft is bringing her over for a bit.”
“Is she alright?” John asked hesitantly.
“I…no. I don’t know,”
“Sherlock this is ridiculous, what’s wrong? You’re worrying me.”
You had become quite the regular at Baker Street, sleeping over there almost as much as you stayed with Mycroft, your legal guardian.
“Y/N…she has cancer.”
“She what?” Surely he had heard wrong.
“Mycroft took her in for an appointment, routine check up, that’s all, but…” Sherlock swallowed, and didn’t finish.
“How…I mean…” John wasn’t sure how to ask about the severity.
“I’m not sure,” Sherlock said finally. “Mycroft didn’t say much.”
“Hey Sherlock!” To say Sherlock was surprised when you came bounding into 221B like nothing was wrong would be a severe understatement.
“Hello,” he greeted hollowly. You stepped past him to bring your bag to your room, and Sherlock turned to look at Mycroft.
“She knows?” He asked quietly, and Mycroft nodded.
“I believe she doesn’t want to talk about it.”
“How bad is it?”
“They said they aren’t sure about the outcome. They want to start treatments as soon as possible, and it all depends on how she responds to it. All we can do is make sure she gets enough rest and water between visits for now.”
“Alright,” Sherlock sighed. “Then we do all we can do.”
…
“Where do you think you’re going?”
You looked up at Sherlock with a frown.
“Just for a walk.”
“No you’re not,” he responded. “It’s time you took a nap.”
“Gee grandma, you first,” you scoffed.
“Y/N, don’t be like that,” John insisted.
“You guys really aren’t gonna let me take a walk?” You glared at the two men, who didn’t waver an inch. “Fine,” you groaned, brushing past them to your room and closing the door.
…
“Drink.”
“I’ve had like four glasses of water today Mycroft, I’m not thirsty.”
Mycroft gestured to the glass in front of you insistently. You rolled your eyes and took a sip.
“Finish that, and then you should take a nap.”
“I’m fine.”
“He’s right,” Sherlock chimed in from the sofa.
“Since when do you two agree on anything?” You scoffed.
“Since now.”
You glared at Mycroft.
“You can’t lay off for one afternoon?”
“No.”
“Ok, I’ll nap on one condition; you let me go to Christie’s later, she wanted to study together.”
“You’ll take a nap either way,” Mycroft responded.
“Wanna bet?” You challenged.
“No, because I don’t have to. You’ll do as you’re told.”
“John, a little help?”
“Don’t look at me,” John raised his hands. “I’m with them.”
“Could you guys stop treating me like this for two seconds?” Your tone rose with your anger.
“Like what?” Mycroft’s resolve hadn’t changed.
“Like I’m an invalid!” You shoved past your brothers and slammed the door to your room.
…
“She won’t answer.”
“I know that,” Sherlock griped at his older brother.
“Should we pick the lock?”
“She’d kill us.”
“Well, she’s worrying me, she’s been in there for a while,” Mycroft pulled out a lock pick and got to work.
When the lock clicked, he called out a warning.
“We’re coming in if you don’t open this door!”
Silence.
Mycroft pushed open the door, and sighed in relief when he saw you on your bed, a book in your lap and headphones in your ears. You looked up in disgust.
“Privacy much?” You growled as you pulled your headphones out of your ears.
“You’ve been in here for too long, and you wouldn’t answer when we knocked,” Mycroft insisted.
“Why won’t you leave me alone?”
“Because we need to talk,” Sherlock came to stand by your bed.
“About what?”
“About ‘how we treat you’,” Mycroft sighed.
“Alright, talk.”
“You know why we do it,” Sherlock insisted.
“Yeah, because you’re nosy control freaks.”
“Because we’re worried,” Mycroft corrected.
“You shouldn’t be.”
“That’s a load of crap,” everyone turned in surprise when John entered the room. “You know full well why they’re scared, and you are too. There’s not much we can do, alright? The only things we can do is make sure you get your rest in between treatments, and try our best to take care of you. So that’s what we’re doing.”
You were silent for a long moment.
“I-I just…” the tears in your eyes were perhaps the most surprising because it was the first time your family had seen you cry since the news came. “I don’t want to spend what could be my last few months just…resting. Wasting time, relaxing, and-and-“
“Hey,” the sternness in Mycroft’s tone shut you up immediately. “These aren’t your last few months. That’s what we’re trying to ensure by keeping you rested, and able to fight this.”
“We’re not letting you die, understand?” Sherlock lowered himself to meet your gaze.
“Ok,” you choked, and you were relieved when John stepped forwards and pulled you into his arms.
“You’re going to be ok,” he promised.
You smiled.
“Thank you.”

Karma - Hamish Mycroft (Merlin) X Female Reader
Title: Karma
Hamish Mycroft (Merlin) X Female Reader
Additional Characters: Sean Cobb (OC), Harry (Mentioned), Eggsy, Roxy (Mentioned), and random guards (Mentioned)
WC: 4,536
Warnings: Kingsman canon violence, guns, Reader is mentioned wearing a dress and heels, pretending Kingsman Headquarters wasn't blown up, flirting?, tension, pretend relationship for mission, banter, slight angst, cursing, nicknames, fighting, knives, blood, teasing, and fluff
Breathing heavily, you skidded across the marble floor, regretting wearing heels as you held up the hem of your dress to not trip on it. Turning down another hall, you heard the shouting of the very unhappy guards - very unhappy guards with guns - not a very good combination. Now this mission was supposed to be easy, one that was supposed to take less than an hour. But no, you didn't know what happened. Either the weapons dealer saw right through your flirting and he was smarter than you thought or something happened on Kingman's part. You liked to think it was the latter's fault.
Harry, being the new Arthur, had asked you to go on a mission to get some files from Sean Cobb, a weapons dealer. This would've been your first mission on your own, but for some reason, Harry asked Merlin to join you. He reasoned that having a date with you would make you less suspicious. You mentally wondered and questioned why Eggsy wasn't coming with you. He usually was the one who joined you on most of your missions. But, you had forgotten that Eggsy was on a mission somewhere in France, so he couldn't do it.
And it wasn't like you didn't want Merlin to join you on this mission. It was just that you had a bit of a crush on the older man. And, well, you're not exactly sure when it began. Maybe the moment you met him. Perhaps it started during your first week at Kingsman. Or maybe it had been there all along, and Merlin just never noticed, thankfully. Or he did, and he just didn't say anything to save you from embarrassment. Whatever it was, Merlin was your friend and you liked spending time with him. That's all it was. Even if you wished for that friendship to blossom into something more. He probably didn't even think of you in that way. You were pretty young. You were supposed to be in college at the time that you were recruited, and that was a year and a half ago.
After you were recruited, and passed all the tests, you were given the code name, Elyan. A couple of months later, is when you met Roxy and Eggsy. Which you grew closer to. You got to spend more time together, becoming quick friends. During their recruitment, you had helped Merlin during it. He had asked you for your opinion numerous times, especially in the beginning when he flooded the sleeping room. Normally, when working, Merlin was pretty stoic and serious, so when he asked what you thought of the recruits, you were surprised but honest.
You told him the truth. "I don't think most of them will get past the parachute jump."
Merlin glanced at you before looking back at his clipboard, "I remember that was a difficult task for you." He looked up at the window, the water level rising.
"Yeah, it was." You murmured, remembering how scared you were, up so high in the sky.
"But you did it." Merlin commented, making you smile.
"Yeah... Thanks for reminding me. I still have nightmares about it sometimes," You jested, Merlin only shook his head, looking back at the clipboard.
Running down the hall, you almost fell as you turned another corner, pushing the thickly-framed glasses up your nose, you continued to breathe heavily. You wondered how Merlin was doing, you had lost him when everything went to hell. One minute you were flirting with Mr. Cobb, and trying to hack into his computer to get those files, and then you were being shot at while running down a hall. Again, this mission was supposed to be simple, and easy... So how did it turn into this?
- Two Hours Ago -
Brushing down the skirt of the lavish dress, you let out a nervous breath. Your reflection looked right back at you as you turn your body every which way, observing the dress as it lay on your body. It was a deep red - similar to the color of red wine - made of silk, tight to your body; perfectly showing off your curves. The straps were thin, with a square neckline, and a high slit on the side of your leg; stopping mid-thigh. The skirt ended right on the floor, hiding your black heels. Overall, it was gorgeous. You felt gorgeous. You weren't really expecting Kingsman, or Harry rather, allowing you to choose your own dress for this mission. Fixing your hair, you gave yourself one last look right when there was a knock at the door.
"Come in," You called out, grabbing the small gold earrings - a birthday present from Roxy - and placing them in your ears. The door opened, and in came Merlin, dressed in a dashing ebony suit, black tie, shiny black shoes, and gold cufflinks. Upon meeting his eyes in the mirror, you froze momentarily before smiling at him, "Hi, Merlin, could you help me with this?" You asked, fumbling with the small gold necklace. It was in the shape of the north star, and it so happened to be a gift from Eggsy; also a birthday present.
Harry, for your birthday, last year, had gifted you a novel that you had your eyes on, and had spoken about more times than not. By the time a month had passed after your birthday, you had read the book more than three times. It was hard to put down when you weren't on a mission. And Merlin... He gave you a small dagger; which you were grateful for, it was very useful during missions, and it fit perfectly in your garter - for exact missions like this one.
Raising his fist to his mouth, he cleared his throat before walking further into the room. Upon reaching you, he carefully took the necklace from your fingers. Standing behind you, he reached around, and gently placed it around your neck; it landed delicately on the center of your chest. You tried to regulate your breathing as you felt the tips of his fingers brush against the back of your neck as he clasped it in place. Merlin's hand lingered there for a moment longer before taking a step back. "There." He stated as you let out a breath you didn't even know that you were holding. "Are you ready?"
Turning slightly to face him, you nodded. "Are you ready?" You asked him in return, only for you to get a nod in response.
Side by side, you said your farewells to Harry, who in turn, wished you good luck. Exiting Kingsman Headquarters, you clutched your bag with one hand as you and Merlin walked down the stone steps and to the awaiting car. Merlin sped a bit further than you, surprising you by opening the passenger door for you, which made you smile. Sitting down, you buckled your seat belt as Merlin shut your door before slipping into the driver's seat.
Beginning to drive to the large estate where Mr. Cobb was holding his event, Merlin spoke up. "Do you remember our names?" He asked, staring ahead toward the road, his face stoic, as usual.
Huffing, you answered, "Mark and Natasha Pierce. We've been married for the past couple of months, Harry mentioned we should act like we're still in that honeymoon phase or whatever." You said, a bit irritated. "You know that I know this stuff. We just went over all of it before lunch." You added, turning your head slightly to glance at his side profile.
"Of course," He began, "I was simply making sure."
Crossing your arms, you frowned slightly, "I've been on like... A hundred missions, Merl," You watched as he glanced at you, raising an eyebrow. "Okay, maybe not a hundred but you know what I mean. I'm a damn good Kingsman." You reminded him.
"Of course you are," Merlin spoke, "If you weren't good at this, you wouldn't be here." Stopping at a light, he added, "I just wanted to make sure."
Shifting in the seat slightly, you leaned against the car, closing your eyes briefly to rest for a second. Opening them again, you looked out of the window. Looking at the sunset, you admired it for a bit, and before you knew it, you were at the estate.
Parking along the large field with the other fancy cars, Merlin turned off the engine. Turning in his seat slightly, he let a hint of a smile grace his lips at the sight of you, leaned against the car door, temple pressed onto the chill glass window, your eyes closed; asleep. Reaching over, Merlin's fingers just brushed the stray hairs that fell in front of your face, mentally debating whether or not to sweep them behind your ear. Instead, he pressed his hand on your upper arm, gently shaking you awake. Your eyelids fluttered open, blinking rapidly.
"We're here." He said simply, pulling his hand away.
Sitting up, you looked around, seeing the large home before you. "Oh." You muttered, grabbing your bag, and unbuckling.
"Elyan, wait." Merlin spoke up, your hand just brushing the car door to exit as you looked over at him, curiously, "Here." He continued before opening his coat pocket and pulling out a ring. It was beautiful. You felt your breath hitch, as your eyes widened, your whole body becoming rigid.
It was a golden band, topped with small white diamonds, and a round brilliant cut green Sapphire in the center. It was so delicate and ornate. It was perfect.
You almost felt like crying. On the one hand, you were so happy to receive such a ring to wear for a mission, but on the other hand... You wished that Merlin was giving you the ring for a different reason. The more you stared at the ring, the more nervous you became. This was going to be a tough mission, you didn't know how you were going to handle having to pretend to be in a relationship with a man that you had been in love with. The thought of it made your stomach twist unpleasantly. None of this was real.
Clearing your throat, you pulled your gaze from the ring. "Thank you..." You breathed, looking up at him and offering him a weak smile. Taking the ring and slipping it onto your ring finger, you felt your breath leave you. "It's beautiful."
"Harry picked it out," He spoke as he pulled out his own ring, a simple golden band, and slipped it on his own ring finger. You hummed, staring down at the ring. You knew that it was a possibility that Harry would pick out all the attire and accessories that you needed for the mission, he had done so for many missions in the past. Though, you couldn't help but be a bit disappointed.
"Well," You cleared your throat, "He isn't getting this back after the mission. It's mine now."
Merlin said nothing more than that, opening his door to walk around the car for you. Opening the door for you, you took his offered hand, stepping out of the vehicle.
Entering the large home, your arm looped with Merlin's, you looked around at the high ceilings, paintings on the walls, and marble statues. You let out a breath, your hand at your side tightening its hold on your small clutch. Merlin seemed to notice how tense you were becoming, as he squeezed your hand that was on his arm lightly, "You can do this." He whispered in your ear.
Looking up at him, you nodded, "Right." You murmured quietly, taking a deep breath.
Merlin led you through the house, through numerous hallways, before finally arriving at the ballroom. The live orchestra was playing some sort of classical tune, and everyone seemed to be mingling together as if they were old friends. Everyone's faces were painted with smiles and their bodies were swaying slightly to the music. Though it all seemed to be a pretty calm and enjoyable scene, all these people were either corrupt government officials or criminals, all pretending. Immediately as you stepped into the large ballroom, you entered the lion's den.
"Do you care to dance, Natasha?" Merlin asked, making your gaze snap from the dancing and up to him.
Nodding, you offered him your best smile, all the while, you could feel the butterflies in your stomach swarming. Letting out another breath as Merlin began to make his way to the dancefloor with you, you told yourself to get a hold of yourself. This was an important mission, you had to push your feelings back and get this mission done and over with.
'Play the part, play the part, play the part.'
Wrapping his arm around your waist, Merlin took your hand as your free hand came to rest on his shoulder. Gripping his hand tighter, Merlin began to lead you in a waltz, his dark eyes looking down, right into your soul; you couldn't look away. As he moved his foot, he guided yours, keeping the two of you perfectly in sync with the music. 'This is nice,' You thought to yourself, letting yourself relax.
After several moments of quiet and slow dancing, Merlin finally broke the silence with a question, "How are you feeling?" He queried softly.
"Better," You muttered, glancing around, you realized that you were technically supposed to spot Mr. Cobb while you were dancing. "He's by the bar," You murmured, eyes landing on the man from over Merlin's shoulder.
Sean Cobb was a young man, around your age, falling into the family business after his parents mysteriously disappeared. He wasn't married, nor did he have children. His hair was a dark brown color, and it framed his face, stopping at his shoulders. His eyes were dark brown with a sliver of gold in them. He was wearing a black suit and a tie with an emerald pin. His outfit wasn't quite extravagant, and obviously expensive. His hands were wrapped around a whiskey glass filled with amber-colored liquid, watching the other couples dance.
As the song slowly came to an end, you and Merlin broke apart, "That's my cue," You muttered, turning to head towards the bar. Leaning against the bar beside Sean Cobb, you waved down the bartender. Smiling, you ordered a drink, spying from the side of your eyes that Sean Cobb had been staring at you the entire time.
"Well, hello beautiful." He drawled, resting his cheek against his fist.
"Thank you. But I have a name..." You turned towards the man, looking at him over the rim of your glass.
Taking a sip from his drink, Sean gave you a lecherous smirk. "What can I call you, sweetheart?" He asked.
"Natasha Pierce..." You answered as you took a seat on the plush stool in front of him, "But you can call me anything you want." You smiled flirtatiously.
Sean's grin widened as he took the chance to look at you, his bright blue eyes slowly dragging along your figure. You wanted to throw up, but you kept your cool, allowing the man to continue to gaze at you. "My, my..." He trailed off, smirking, "Are you here with anyone?"
You sighed, lightly rolling your eyes as you took a small sip from your drink, "My husband actually." At those three words, Sean's smirk faltered slightly.
"Your husband? Where is he then?"
Raising your eyebrow, you glanced over at him, "I don't really know. He's somewhere around here." Crossing your legs, you let your leg slip through the slit, immediately catching Sean's eyes; his eyes trailing the expanse of your exposed leg. "But, enough about him, what's your name, handsome?"
"Sean." His voice was smooth, like melted chocolate.
"Hello, Sean..." You mumbled lowly, "What do you do exactly?" You asked, leaning forward slightly.
"Well, I am a weapons dealer." He responded smoothly, raising his eyebrow and leaning closer to you. You didn't move away, instead, you placed your empty glass down on the bar counter, "And what about you, gorgeous? What do you do?"
Biting your lip, you spoke, "I work for the government. So does my husband. We run the weapon creation firm." You smiled at him innocently.
You felt sick to your stomach, just being near this guy was creeping you out. On top of that, poor Merlin was hearing all of it with those glasses of his. Though, you should've been used to the thought of it, since Merlin always listened in on your missions, being the tech genius he was and all. You also hated that you were sometimes asked to go on missions because you were attractive and the targets would let their walls down around you.
But after Harry took over as the new King Arthur, your missions were greatly based on your excellent combat strategies rather than your looks. It was just this one that you were stuck doing. Harry promised that this was the last mission you ever had to do where you had to flirt with the criminal. He would gladly send you on more combat-based missions, your comfort was important to him.
Before you knew it, you were walking down the hall to have a private chat with Sean the weapons dealer. Once you got into the hallway though, Sean stopped, and that's when you felt something press against your side. Sean wrapped an arm behind you, tightening his hold on your waist as you looked down and confirmed that it was indeed a gun. Dropping your shoulders, you turned to look up at Sean with a rather unimpressed expression on your face.
"Really?" You began, raising an eyebrow, "A Colt?" You gestured to the gun almost painfully pressed into your lower ribs. "A bit extra, don't you think."
Sean glared down at you, pushing you forward, "Shut up, I know what you were playing at. You're pretty easy to read, princess." He sneered, and you mentally gagged at the nickname.
"Gee, what gave me away?" You asked sarcastically, watching as you turned down a secluded hall. 'Almost there...'
"I have the registry for every single weapons worker in the government who works with me," He paused in the middle of the hall, "And there is no 'Natasha Pierce' on it." Punching the code into the keypad on the wall, his office door opened. Moving inside, you quickly glanced around the room as the door shut.
"What are you going to do? Kill me?" You asked, feeling as he pressed the gun into your side, making you wince.
Sean grinned evilly, "Yeah. This room is soundproof." He turned you around, pressing your chest into his as he stared down at you; gun now pressed into your stomach, "No one will hear you scream." All the while, your free hand fiddled with the slit of your dress.
"Noted," Grinning as you watched Sean's smirk falter in confusion. You heard the gun fall to the ground, his eyes widening as he staggered back slightly; your dagger was buried deep into his stomach. Your hand tightened around the handle, "Now, why don't you give me the password to that there computer, huh?" You asked with a glare, only for Sean to spit in your face. Pulling the blade out of Sean, you watched the blood pour out of his wound. Taking a second, you watched as he stumbled further back, hitting the wall before falling to the ground; his blood foaming a puddle around him. "What a shame." You tutted sarcastically, opening your clutch, you grabbed a small napkin; wiping your face before cleaning the blood from the dagger and putting it back on your garter. "Merl, I'm in," You spoke, rushing to the computer, leaning over to jiggle the mouse, turning it on. "But I assume that you already knew that."
"Good work, Elyan. Get the files, a few guards are beginning to grow suspicious." Merlin replied but you were already on it.
~~~
And that was how you got into this situation. Opening your clutch, you grabbed your gun, spinning around to shoot at some of the guards that were chasing after you. You were able to take out three, your bullets going through their heads as you quickly backed down the hall. Once at the end of the hall, you were about to turn around the corner when you felt an arm wrap around your waist, pulling you back into a small room.
Initially, you felt the heat of panic fill your blood as the door to the small, dark room closed shut. 'Great,' you thought, 'I'm going to die in a closet.'
"Elyan." At the sound of his voice, you sighed, your stiff shoulders dropping in relief.
Turning around in his arms, you strained your eyes to see Merlin, "Thanks," You breathed out, trying to back out of his arms, only to bump into the wall behind you.
You felt a wave of nervousness wash over you at the mere thought that you were in a dark closet-like room, pressed impossibly close to your crush. You swallowed hard, "So, uh..." You cleared your throat, "What do we do now?" Merlin said nothing, reaching out to open the door, but it wouldn't budge. He tried a couple more times before a strand of curses left his lips, his Scottish lilt becoming more noticeable; making your heart skip a beat. He couldn't even try and kick the door down, there was hardly any room to breath, let alone move. "Don't freaking tell me that we're stuck in here." You began, raising your hand up in the limited space to pinch the bridge of your nose.
Merlin let out a sigh, his warm breath fanning your face, "We are."
"You've got to be kidding me… This has to be karma or something." You exclaimed before muttering out, "First having to flirt with that Cobb creep and now this."
"Karma?" Merlin asked, and you nodded.
"Yeah, I mean this is your first mission in like twenty years and I stole Harry's sandwich this morning." Merlin let a small, amused smile lift the corners of his lips, as you continued, "How are we going to get out of this?" You asked the man, whose small grin turned back into a serious frown. “You’re the more experienced one out of us.”
"I've already sent Galahad our location," Merlin answered, raising his hand, his fingers brushing against a string. Cautiously, he pulled down, a light bulb quickly lighting up the place, you sighed; finally, you could see..
"He’s back? Great, so, we just wait here?" You said sarcastically, rolling your eyes, "That'll take forever."
"Unfortunately." Merlin said, "I apologize, Elyan." Glad that he was finally able to see you, and even with your hair messed up a bit, you still looked breathtaking.
Shaking your head, you raised a hand to pat his chest, "It's fine, don't worry about it." Quickly dropping your hand after you realized what you had done. "It's not like you sent me on this mission." You shrugged, looking anywhere in the small closet but at him. “I’m going to blame Harry.”
"I never told you how stunning you look tonight," Merlin stated suddenly, his hand coming up to brush the fallen strands of hair behind your ear. His hand slowly moved from your ear to your cheek. You could feel his cold hands on your skin, his touch sending shivers down your spine.
Looking up at him, you gazed into his dark eyes, "Oh... Well, thank you." You muttered, furrowing your eyebrows as you tilted your head into his hand, "What's going on with you?" You whispered, as Merlin just stared down at you, his gaze intense but warm. "Did you hit your head or something? I mean, the ceiling in here is pretty low." You sputtered out a small laugh, trying to hide how bashful and nervous you were feeling with a joke, but it didn't seem to help the situation like usual.
Merlin sighed, his hand dropping from your cheek, and looking away from you, Merlin spoke, "Nothing's wrong, I promise." His accent thickened a little with his words, "Just a bit of a headache, nothing you should concern yourself with."
"Merl, how long have we known each other?" You asked, narrowing your eyes at him, "You can trust me."
Merlin stared down at you, an unknown look in his eyes, lips pulled into a straight lip; pursed. “I’m not very good at this, love,” He muttered, almost too quiet for you to hear. It was then that Merlin seemed to shake himself out of whatever trance he was in. His eyes softened and you swore that you saw a flash of sadness in them, which disappeared almost as soon as it had appeared.
Staring up at the man, you let in a breath as you took a chance. One that could either blow up in your face or change everything. Reaching up, you stood up on your toes before placing your hand on the side of Merlin’s face, gently stroking the soft skin. Your thumbs brushed against his cheekbones lightly as you looked up at him; it seemed everything was going alright, he hadn't pushed you away.
And finally, you pressed your lips to his, soft and chaste. Slowly, you pulled back, your hands falling from his face to rest on his chest. Your heart hammered in your chest, nerves rising as you worried that you had ruined everything. Slowly, he raised his own hand, moving to cup your chin gently. You felt your breath catch in your throat, unable to say anything as he leaned down closer to you. The smell of his cologne filled your nostrils once more, making your stomach tighten.
You felt his soft lips press against yours, his mouth parting slightly. A slight gasp escaped you as you immediately kissed him back. It took everything in you not to cry in relief as you gripped his jacket tightly. All you could think was, 'thank you' to whatever higher power was out there as one of his hands came up to cup the back of your head while the other wrapped around your waist.
Pulling away, you let out a shaky breath as he placed his forehead against yours. You both stayed silent, enjoying the moment as you caught your breath. Finally, you said, "I should steal Harry's sandwiches more often..." You joked, smiling as you looked up into those enchanting brown eyes again.
He chuckled before bringing you closer, but before he could say anything, the closet door opened revealing Eggsy. He immediately smirked, looking between you and Merlin in each other's arms. "Well, time to go, love birds." He spoke, voice chipper. Awkwardly, you both pulled away, quickly leaving the closet. Walking down the hall, Eggsy continued to tease, "If I knew that throwing you two in a closet would finally get you two together, I would've done it ages ago."
The pair shot daggers at his back, Merlin mumbling under his breath. You scoffed, "Come off it, Eggsy." You grumbled, though your sour expression didn't last for long when Merlin gently took your hand in his. You smiled at him, letting his fingers intertwine with yours as you walked down the hall towards the exit.
in another life. - w. j. moriarty
just a lil something that's been in the drafts for a while now.... 😇
warnings : mtp anime end + manga spoilers, cussing, stabbing & other mentions of killing/violence, sherlock is called a bastard twice (2 times), reader is called "beautiful" once (1) but no pronouns otherwise, ignore the "- divider -" it wont let me add the pic for some reason
w/c : 1671
maybe it was the way he carried himself, or maybe it was his selfless nature; you never knew the exact reason why you fell for the crime lord in disguise. it just.. happened.
you wouldn’t call it effortless, but you can’t call it hard either. loving william might have always been easy, but loving him never was.
loving william in a physical way was horribly hard. he was always overworked and tired– or working– and most importantly, on his merry way to rid england of the corrupt nobles. he was doing a great thing, you told yourself (the ‘but the wrong way’ remained unsaid, as always), and you couldn’t wait to see the nation become one he’s always dreamt of. a place where people feel safe, and, most importantly, equal.
only, you wanted to see it with him by your side.
yet as your eyes follow his figure and that of the accursed detective he’s grown so fond of– sherlock holmes, the bastard, that should be you– falling into the thames river, you realize that maybe, maybe he hasn’t told you the extent to how far he’s willing to go for this nation. maybe you were too naive, maybe you missed the signs, or maybe he simply didn’t trust you enough to tell you about his plans. now you’ll never know.
you remember one time you overheard the brothers arguing, liam saying “you don’t know what it’s like walking alone every step of the way” then apologizing right after, only to be met with silence. a few moments passed and you heard louis reply “you don’t know what it’s like either, brother. we started this journey together and have walked the path together, as a team. it’s only the destination you insist on reaching alone,” and now you realize, maybe you should’ve inquired about the meaning behind his words.
except, you didn’t. you thought if it’s something important, liam will tell you sooner or later. spoiler alert, he didn’t.
now all you feel is the betrayal settling in your heart because while everyone else knew, they never thought about telling you. no “oh hey, by the way, your boyfriend is going to sacrifice himself soon, but no worries we got sherlock on the job”– a plan which backfired since both of them jumped– nothing. what hurt the most was not even liam thought to tell you.
and here comes the guilt baring its teeth, biting into your heart and lungs and suddenly you can no longer breathe or hear anything other than the ringing in your ears– you never even got to say goodbye. he was just going to die without saying anything. he just.. left you there.
when you saw their bodies splash into the river you felt like a part of yourself drowned with them. with him.
the days after the incident were a blur. you don't quite remember anything through a whole month after they jumped. everyone around you slowly realized you knew nothing of the plan. albert couldn't talk to you about it very long as he got locked up. moran disappeared off the face of the earth soon after. all you had were fred, james and louis, and perhaps they were all you needed. every step of the way, they stood by your side.
you were a team after all. since your younger days. there were more of you back then, but, maybe the 4 of you could go on until you reunite with albert– and hopefully moran– somewhere down the path.
3 months. 3 months have passed.
days turned into weeks, weeks into months.
you missed william dearly each day, but you are not as depressed as you were anymore. louis has been made leader of m16, albert was still sitting in his cell, moran was still missing and fred was tending to his flowers. some things just don't change, you chuckled.
thanks to louis' new position you had responsibilities and jobs to carry out again. you'd say it's with less people but that would be a lie. herder has finally wormed his way into the actual missions– technically.
things start getting crazy from there. 1st a mission regarding moran, next a briefing with the older holmes, next the younger one– the absolute bastard– shows up. without william.
you take a step back– maybe you weren't over it after all, but if you stabbed him right now mycroft would kill you. louis verbalized the thoughts you all had, ".. that day, you fell down the river thames with brother william.. and now, you're the only one standing in front of us like this. can you.. please explain?"
sherlock goes to tell the story of how he awakened on a boat heading for america with bandages all over him and william both. met a guy called henry (also known as billy the kid, apparently), who was the one to patch them up and watch over them and blah blah blah– you stopped paying attention halfway. you only zoned in when he mentioned the blond.
".. i got a telegram from liam; 'help m16 for me' he said. and that's how i ended up back in london, in secret."
when you opened your mouth to speak, fred stole the words right out of your mouth, "mr. william is .."
it hit you then. not like a punch in the face, more like a direct run in with a truck. he didn't die. he's.. he's not dead. he's alive. for the love of god, he's alive.
uncontrollable tears were streaming down your cheeks. it wasn't just a dream, wasn't just something you made yourself believe to cope with his 'betrayal'. it's real. he's alive.
the room broke out in chaos once the news registered in herder's brain. he reminded fred of his new roses, and you of your one wish coming true– it didn't last long however, as louis got right back to the point of the briefing.
"you really are just like liam."
"mr. holmes, may i have a moment?"
you couldn't help yourself, you rushed to the door after it closed behind the 2 men.
".. thank you. for that time.. and all the way until now, for not forsaking my brother.. for saving his life.. from the bottom of my heart, thank you."
william and albert went around greeting everyone in order. you stepped away and chose to gaze out the huge window while you waited. eventually, you were the only one left.
you smiled softly then; you can imagine how much those words meant to louis. they were true, though.
- divider -
yet another mission is over, and now moran is back among your little no-longer-criminal-organization group. it took fred almost being shot, a poker card from william, and a lot of convincing, but he's home. you're back to bickering and teasing each other, just like old times.
barely 2 days later, william and albert showed up, sending the tea cup fred was holding shattering. the idea of letting the 3 brothers have their reunion first was a collective agreement so you pushed louis into the hallway and shut the door softly.
with a soft sigh, you avoided listening in on their conversation this time (much unlike the other occupants of the room; specifically herder, who went tumbling the moment the door opened).
taking the cue, the others slowly filed out of the room, leaving only you and william, who was staring at your back intently.
"you have an eyepatch now i see," you said, turning to face him.
the sun behind you illuminated your figure just right. you looked exactly like an angel would. maybe this a sign, he thinks.
"i do indeed. you've grown even more beautiful than i remember."
"flattery will get you nowhere, pretty boy," you sighed, "why didn't you tell me?"
"i couldn't, i'm sorry. you looked so happy. i couldn't bring myself to ruin it for you. for us. i thought, in the end, if i shouldered the responsibility myself, maybe you'd realize i was a monster all along. tainted, with hands covered in blood. i didn't deserve to hold you, love you, the way i was."
"you're very wrong about that. you were, are, and will always be the most beautiful and selfless soul i know– even if that whole bridge jump scene was very selfish, if i do say so myself," you move closer to him to cup his cheeks (still as soft as you remember, though slightly more bony) and caress them softly, "you deserve everything and more, liam. if the stars would make you happy i'd go and pick some for you. you should've talked to me, relied on me a little more. i thought we were a team, an unstoppable duo, you know? i can't be a duo on my own; neither can you."
"i know now. i'm sorry. are you still mad?"
you looked at him as if he hung the sun and stars himself and he believes he has an answer to that question, "i'm not mad at you. i can't be. i love you too much for that."
the love in your eyes is mirrored in his vermillion one, the burning intensity of it almost swallowing you up like the flames in a burning building, yet the warmth is friendlier– gentler – the last rays of a summer sunset by the ocean.
"never do anything like that ever again, alright blondie? promise me."
"i promise."
you remove your hand from his cheek, placing it in the small space between you and raise an eyebrow in amusement, "do you pinky promise?"
he can only chuckle and hook his pinky with yours, "i pinky promise."
the deal is sealed with a kiss filled with 3 years worth of words and emotions left unsaid.
perhaps it was meant to be like this. is this what "in another life" means? most likely not, yet still. he's a new person and so are you. your lives are not what they used to be.
maybe this is your "another life".
Pairing: Sherlock x reader
Series: Sherlock BBC
MASTERLIST
I II
Synopsis: You discover that you are in love, unfortunately with the same man your friend loves. How will you survive that.
Note: English is not my native language, so some words may not make sense, apologies in advance.
𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐈𝐈
━━━━♡
The name Thomas Beckett made my heart skip a beat.
“Thomas Beckett? What’s going on with him?” I asked, trying to keep calm as I sat on the sofa. The gears in my mind began to spin rapidly, trying to understand why they were mentioning my boss’s partner.
Sherlock’s eyes narrowed slightly, as if my words had bothered him, though he didn’t show it openly. His rigid posture and the way he clenched his jaw revealed that something else was going on. Mycroft, on the other hand, seemed impassive, as if he enjoyed my confusion.
“Miss, it’s quite simple. We know for certain that, despite holding a position not so prominent within the company hierarchy, you have certain connections with high-ranking officials,” Mycroft commented with a tone that carried a hint of disdain. I glared at him.
A position not so important? Really? My role as a senior developer was more than relevant. It wasn’t for nothing that I had spent so much time studying, sacrificing sleep and proper meals, taking various part-time jobs with low wages to pay for my studies, and enduring the distance from my family while living in a noisy shared flat. I was proud of what I had achieved and all I had done to get there, so his words only made me boil with anger.
“You know, I’m starting to think I might not want to collaborate with you,” I replied, crossing my arms firmly. Mycroft raised an eyebrow, but before he could respond, Sherlock intervened, surprising even his brother.
“Listen, I know you got your position thanks to that intern program, and also that...” Sherlock paused, his blue eyes locking with mine as if he were unsure about what he was about to say, “that you have a history with Beckett.”
The mere mention of my past with Thomas made me feel as though the ground was slipping away from under my feet. It was true that Thomas and I had been more than friends in college. We were inseparable, and eventually, we became a couple. Thomas had always been the brilliant and attractive one, so his success with women didn’t surprise me. There was something about his charisma that drew people to him like a magnet.
However, everything ended. We went our separate ways, each with our own dreams. There was no sense in holding back. I would never forget the surprise I felt when, years later, I encountered him in one of the hallways of the place, with his immaculate dark suit and polished shoes. A smile from ear to ear that I hadn’t seen in a long time. The Thomas Beckett I knew as a student was now a man who had built his own cybersecurity company.
“What does that have to do with the case?” I asked, trying to sound more confident than I felt.
Sherlock let out a sigh, as if finding it difficult to explain the obvious.
“Everything,” he replied with a coldness that left me stunned. “Beckett is under suspicion, and we need to know how involved he is in certain activities. Your proximity to him, both personal and professional, could be key to uncovering what’s really going on.”
“Suspicion of what?” I pressed, starting to feel that what I was about to hear would not be pleasant.
Sherlock looked at me with a mix of seriousness and something I couldn’t quite identify.
“Beckett is being investigated for alleged involvement in an industrial espionage network. There are suspicions that he has been selling confidential information from several tech companies, including yours, to foreign competitors. And it’s not just about his disloyal behavior. There are indications that this data is being used for purposes that compromise national security. There have been leaks pointing to connections between Beckett and an organization called Argus, known in the underworld for handling military contracts and cyber warfare technology.”
My heart raced as I processed his words. Thomas involved in something so murky. It was hard to believe, but I knew Sherlock didn’t say these things lightly.
“And what does this have to do with me?” I asked, though a part of me already suspected the answer.
“As a developer, you have access to sensitive information, and your past relationship with Beckett could have facilitated his access to what he needed,” Sherlock replied, his words sharp but laden with a concern he was trying to hide. “We need to know if you have any knowledge of something that could incriminate him or if you’ve been used, even unknowingly, to access that information.”
“Look, I understand this is a shock to you, but we’re not here to accuse you,” John interjected for the first time, his usual calm tone. “We want your help because we know you’re not involved, but also because you could be the key to stopping this before it spirals out of control. If Beckett is innocent, we’ll prove it. But if he’s not, you need to know he could be using his relationship with you for his own ends.”
“Exactly,” Mycroft added with a slight nod toward John. “We need someone on the inside, someone who can verify if our suspicions are correct. And who better than someone who has Beckett’s trust.”
My mind was in full turmoil. I knew that working with Sherlock and Mycroft could lead to unimaginable situations, but I never thought I’d find myself in something so serious, and even less that Thomas could be involved in something like this. What would this mean for my career, for my life? The consequences of collaborating with them could be devastating. I could lose my job, and my reputation would be in ruins. But if what they were saying was true, if Thomas was really involved in an espionage network, ignoring it wasn’t an option.
“If I agree to help, what guarantees do I have that this won’t affect my professional life?” I asked finally, looking directly into Sherlock’s eyes, hoping for some sign that he understood the risks I was facing.
Sherlock held my gaze for a moment that seemed eternal before responding, this time in a much softer tone, almost a whisper:
“You have my word that we will do everything possible to protect you. But we need you.”
I knew that getting involved in something like this could have severe consequences. Not only for me but for my career as well. What would happen if the company discovered that I was helping Mycroft and Sherlock in an investigation that could involve one of its major partners? The collateral damage could be devastating. However, there was something in Sherlock’s gaze, an indication that this case was not just another for him, that made me reconsider.
And although part of me knew I should stay away, that getting involved could destroy everything I had worked for, another part, perhaps the one that still cared for Thomas or the one that didn’t want to leave Sherlock to face this alone, decided to take the risk.
“Alright,” I said finally, feeling a knot in my stomach. “I’ll help.”
John nodded with an expression of gratitude, while Mycroft simply gave a calculating smile. Sherlock, however, did not show any immediate reaction. Only a slight glimmer in his eyes indicated that he had been expecting this response. I wondered if there was something more behind that look, something more personal. But there was no time for reflection. I was about to enter a dangerous game, and there was no turning back.
As they prepared to leave, my phone buzzed. I glanced at the screen to see a message from Molly.
Summary: Schemes come to plan in order to force Anthony and you together. Can a heart to heart change matters? Certainly now your aunt has come into the picture, wanting to have her demands over you. [ Final chapter ] Read part 1 & part 2 & part 3 & part 4 & part 5 & part 6 & part 7 & part 8 & part 9
Sherlock was writing vigorously. The feather in his hand moving swiftly as he scribbled it around. Dipping as quick as he could in the ink seemingly not wanting to forget a word. It had been annoying you for the past couple of days. It made you sigh loud to get his attention. Nothing occurred as Sherlock was lost in his own mind. Having no ears for his surroundings. You sighed again sitting sloppy in the armchair.
Irritated by the scratching of the feather over paper, you got up. – “Whoever are you corresponding with so eagerly?” – You called out making your way over to him. You came to the front of the desk, lowering yourself on your knees, chin up on the level of the desk. Finally Sherlock noticed you with a brief glance. – “A lady perhaps?” – you responded shockingly.
“Someone you met at the ball? Are you in love Sherlock?” – you questioned with a gleam in your eyes. – “Don’t be absurd.” – Sherlock answered dipping the feather in the ink. – “A sister can dream.” – you told him slightly bummed. Sherlock looked up from his paper. – “So can a brother.” – he simply said. It made you roll your eyes at him.
“Should you not be preparing yourself?” – Sherlock spoke barely looking up as he finished the letter with his name. – “Prepare for what?” – you responded confused. Sherlock placed the feather down, giving you his full attention. – “The park.” – he informed you.
You got up half confused. Slightly narrowing your eyes at him. – “Where are you going with this?” – you wanted to know. Sherlock started folding letter. – “Nowhere.” – he let on, burning some candlewax to seal the note. You watched him closely. Trying to decipher a hint on his face.
Something that would give himself away. Nothing. Your brother was good in hiding his emotions. Frustrated you groaned and took a turn towards the hallway. You went up the stairs to your bedroom to prepare. Moments later you were meeting up with your brother Sherlock outside of the house.
You took his arm letting him escort you to the park. The weather was quite nice. A soft breeze bristling through the trees. The sun high as it left a warmth on your skin. – “Have you heard anything from Lord Hill?” – you asked when Sherlock nodded at a passing gentleman. – “No.” – he responded placing his hand on yours over his arm. He came to a brief pause. – “Why? Is it something you anticipate?” – he questioned with a raised eyebrow. – “No.” – you answered tugging at his arm to walk again. – “I was simply curious.” – you mumbled turning your head away from him.
To be fair you were a bit curious off his reaction. You did leave him standing alone at the ball. Rejecting him for the entire ton to see. You hoped he didn’t resent you for it. Or perhaps you hoped he might forgive you. Perhaps he was your only chance of getting out of your aunt’s clutches. The thought alone frightened you. Knowing that your aunt would start meddling herself into your life. Marrying you off to anyone suitable enough in her eyes. Take you away from your family for proper etiquettes. Wanting you to be as stiff and stuffy as all the other ladies throwing themselves at any man possible simply because they can’t get any better.
That was not what you wanted. Far from. You wanted to marry for love if it allow itself to you. At this point you didn’t think you were worthy of love anymore. Sherlock must have noticed the self-pity in your eyes as he gave you a nudge with his elbow. Making you look up to his warming smile. It made you smile faintly back, letting your head rest against his shoulder. Sherlock took a deep breath wishing love upon you so hard. If anyone deserved it, it was you.
You lifted your head back up upon arriving at the park. – “Now what are we here for?” – you questioned. Sherlock just smiled. – “A nice walk.” – he responded not pleasing you with his answer. Now it truly felt like he was hiding something from you. – “Sherlock Holmes now I know you are hiding things from me!” – you outed with a stern expression. Sherlock chuckled at your attempt of a motherly scowl. – “I wouldn’t dream of it sister.”
You puffed loud turning your head away. Sherlock led you down the pathway, greeting some people sitting on the benches with a nod. Up ahead you saw a carriage stand in the middle of the road. Sherlock breathed in as his chest rose. He picked up his pace, dragging you along. You tagged along confused as he walked to the side of the carriage. – “Are…are we getting in?” – you asked confused. Sherlock opened the carriage door pushing you inside. At the same time the door on the other side opened as well.
“You are!” – Sherlock spoke as you felt another body bump against yours. Turning your head your eyes widened at the sight of Lord Bridgerton. His eyes equally shocked. You and Anthony each grabbed for the door on your side. Sherlock shut the door firmly almost in your face. – “Sherlock!” – you called out frustrated. – “Mother!” – Anthony shouted at the same time. You turned your head seeing Miss Bridgerton at his side, keeping the door shut just like your brother did.
“Start the carriage!” – Violet called out with a smile. – “Stop the carriage!” – you screamed out wanting to get off. – “Whatever you do, do not stop this carriage till you reach your destination!” – Sherlock made clear to the driver, flipping him a few coins. The driver tipped his hat to Sherlock, signalling the horses to ride off. Anthony and you fell back against the seats as you rode off. With a lot of effort you pulled yourself forwards as the carriage was speeding. Not just a stroll around the park, but almost galloping.
You grabbed for the handle pushing it open as the door swung open. Your body nearly falling over when you stared down at the quick passing gravely road. A pair of hands on your waist. – “Are you insane!?” – Anthony shouted pulling you back inside the carriage. You automatically closed the door once more as your hand was still on the handle. Panting loud you needed a second. – “Did you truly plan on jumping out of a riding carriage just to get away from me?” – Anthony questioned rudely. – “The offer was tempting.” – you responded making him puff loud.
Anthony and you both turned away from each other looking outside of the carriage. It toggled and bumped around as you could barely sit still. – “I cannot believe Sherlock would trick me this much.” – you mumbled under your breath. – “Or mama.” – Anthony breathed out. His head turned slightly to you as you intended the same. Catching each other’s gaze. It locked in tight, unable to look away. In this moment your breathing became heavier. The yearning for him rising up in tide-waves. Each wave more intense than the one before.
Blinking softly it occurred to you what you were doing. How madly in love your eyes must have looked. Anthony reacted the same way pulling away at the same time as you. Both looking away. Taking a deep breath you let yourself slouch back against the seat. – “What is it?” – Anthony asked with care in his voice. No hint of mockery in his tone. You fidgeted with your fingers on your lap. – “The season will come closer to an end than we expect.” – you told him. – “It won’t be long anymore till I have to say goodbye to it all.”
Anthony was slightly confused with shock. He got up coming to sit in front of you. – “What are you referring to?” – he asked. – “Are… are you…” – he spoke barely able to say it out loud. Something inside of him hoping it wouldn’t be the case. – “No.” – you answered with a shake of your head. Anthony exhaled relieved barely seeable to you. – “I am not engaged my lord or will ever be…” – you went on with a saddened expression. Anthony’s expression full of pity as you reminded him of himself in this moment.
You let your eyes fall onto him. – “Perhaps I have taken all the chances at love that I deserve?” – you told him letting your gaze fall briefly onto his lips. Taking a deep breath, you tore your gaze away from them. – “It doesn’t matter truly for I won’t be able to escape my aunt’s restrictions.” – you continued as Anthony gaped at you. – “Soon you won’t have any trouble of me anymore, my lord.” – you finished.
“By the end of the season I’ll leave to join my aunt where she will groom me to find a match to her liking. It is what has been agreed between my father and her long ago.” – you explained. Anthony took a deep breath with concern. The carriage came to a stop. The glance in his eyes making you scrunch your eyebrows.
The footman opened the door startling you. The moment interrupted as you got out. There you saw your brother waiting for you. You glared at him, storming over to him. Anthony got out numbly. Almost missing his step and stumbling over his own feet. – “Anthony?” – Violet said seeing the sadness in his eyes. – “Sister?” – Sherlock spoke. – “Don’t!” – you made clear wiping your cheek aggressively. He turned to look confused at Violet. It sure must’ve worked right? They had planned it so thoroughly. Violet smiled faintly back at him, moving Anthony closer to her.
With her arm over his shoulder, Violet and Anthony parted ways from Sherlock and you. Sherlock turned round jogging up to you as you had walked off. He didn’t dare to ask how it went upon seeing your distressed reaction. Perhaps it was harder than he expected. To be fair he was very known with the stubbornness of the Holmes’s. The two of you arrived at the estate again. The doorman opening the door to you. – “Do not trick me again!” – was the only thing you said with a loud tone. Sherlock swallowed feeling a bit shameful.
You wanted to storm off to your room when Mycroft appeared from out of the Parlor, clearing his throat nervously. Sherlock stretched his hand out, tapping you gently against the elbow to draw your attention. Mycroft delicately closed the door behind him. – “We… we have a situation.” – he said before you heard the familiar voice of your aunt. Your eyes widened looking frightened at Sherlock. – “Have they arrived?” – you heard her shrill voice come from the Parlor.
The door opened as it bumped against Mycroft’s back making him stumble forwards. Your aunt smiled as wrinkles showed around her eyes and mouth. With open arms she made her way over to you. Sherlock stepping aside to leave room for your aunt to give you an uncomfortable hug. – “Look at you!” – she said unsure to you if it was an insult or not. She tilted your chin up, turning it to the side to have a good look of you. – “I should’ve come sooner.” – she mumbled.
“But!” – she clasped her hands together in delight. – “Tell me Y/n have you found a match yet? Has there been a proposal? Should I expect wedding bells?” – she asked vigorously. – “There has not been.” – you told her honestly. – “Why Y/n the end of the season is nearing. Have you been absent from any balls?” – She turned rudely to your brothers. – “Have there been no gentleman’s offerings? Visits? Interests?” – she wanted to know.
“There…” – Mycroft started. – “There is a gentleman interested… is it not Sherlock?” – Mycroft narrowed his eyes at Sherlock hoping his little scheme of today would be fruitful. Sherlock cleared his throat. – “In the process.” – he answered nervously. He could see Mycroft sigh disappointed and nervous. – “In the process? Sherlock we cannot wait for the process! Y/n must be married off this season to give this family some stability.” – she responded with diplomacy. – “We understand aunt but…” – Mycroft began as he got cut off by her. – “I don’t think you understand well enough!” – she responded bitsy.
“Y/n is running out of time! You shouldn’t have let it come this far. I will not have my niece turn into a hag.” – she finished off. – “Aunt!” – Sherlock called out with a hateful look in his eyes. – “Do not disrespect her!” – he made clear. She simply huffed. She spun back around to you holding her fingers sternly up to you. – “By the end of the season you will come with me and marry the man I offer you!” – she made clear. – “No!” – Mycroft said coming to stand in between. – “Stand aside boy!” – she answered with a hard stare. – “You had your task and failed miserably.” –
Sherlock came joining his brother’s side, blocking you out of her sight. – “You cannot force her to marry out of diplomacy.” – Sherlock outed. – “Oh but I can.” – she answered. You took a deep breath stepping from behind your brothers. They both shook their head knowing you were about to give in. You moved in front of them, curtsying at your aunt. Your aunt smiled proudly. She took you by the wrist. – “Let us have some tea.” – you got pulled back into the Parlor. The second the door shut grabbed your brother Mycroft for Sherlock’s shirt. – “You told me it would work!” – he called out, shaking him around.
“It should’ve!” – Sherlock answered loudly, pushing his hands off. – “I cannot hold her off any longer Sherlock! Our sister is going to be taken away from us in a matter I do not agree upon.” – Mycroft said. Oh how much his character had grown over the months. From a posh man wanting to have you out of his hands to a caring man fighting for his family. – “I will fix it!” – Sherlock replied. – “How? At this rate I don’t see anything happening in the upcoming five years.” – he sighed out letting himself fall exhaustedly against the wall. – “I will figure it out.” – Sherlock said.
The ball was not to your liking. It felt like a goodbye to everything. It felt like the last thing keeping you close to your roots here in London. No intrigued you to join. Standing at the side you watched how everyone socialised. Taking a deep breath you felt out of place. Having no desire or interest in mingling among the people. Perhaps you had already given up. Given up on the last few chances of finding a match. Of finding someone equally to you. Someone you could see yourself love.
Glancing to your right you saw your brothers near. They too had a saddened expression. The ball to no interest to them. It pained you to see them knowing of the trouble they went through. Knowing you had a hand to play in this. Perhaps you have been too stubborn. Too much against it and not willingly. Perhaps… perhaps…Looking back at the dancers you saw Colin Bridgerton amongst them. Colin… Bridgerton.
Your mind went instantly to Anthony. Feeling your chest warm up at the simple thought of him. Not so long ago you saw a future with him. Despite the bickering and competitive you still admired him underneath. Secretly loved how he would provoke you. Send you off into frustration and to your boiling point. Oh how much you loved to get so worked up over him.
Yet it wasn’t meant to be. Your stubbornness had won in flying colours. In need of fresh air you got in motion. Your brother Sherlock wanted to go after you, but Mycroft held him back. Shaking his head in speech of letting you have your space. You made your way through the crowd towards the gardens. Brushing past people to reach the other side. Walking out, you were greeted by a soft breeze. The night sky bright. You made your way over to some bush roses.
Looking up to the sky, you were in deep thought. Anthony had found a way outside. Having almost entirely searched the estate in search. Looking thoroughly and with a destined purpose. Every inch around he wanted to have seen. He neared to the rose bushes that were overgrown like a small forest around the estate.
He turned around, leaning back with furrowed brows. There between the rose bushes he saw his purpose. With determination and without a second thought he made his way over. Finally he had a clear view. A clear view of you. You glanced to the side, having spotted a sudden appearance in the corner of your vision.
Anthony neared looking breathlessly at you. – “Do you still plan on to leave with your aunt?” – he questioned with a mournful expression. – “It is what is intended… for me.” – you responded. – “I am apparently made to save my family from ruin.” – you told him. – “You love your family dearly.” – he spoke coming more over to you. You were looking down fumbling a bit with your dress. – “As much as you love yours.” – you told him without a glance. With a deep breath you finally dared yourself to look up.
Struck instantly by his overwhelming gaze. The brightness in his eyes that could light a fire. – “I was fearful of losing you.” – he confessed with a hard swallow. Admitting his feelings so openly to you felt vulnerable. – “That is why I became… after your accident… I couldn’t…” – he slightly shook his head vowing his words to you. You took a deep breath when Anthony neared more. – “I love you.” – he outed.
“I have loved you from the moment you insulted me.” – taking one more step closer to you. – “I have loved you at every dance, on every walk. Every time we have been together and every time we have been apart. You do not have to accept it or even embrace it but you must know it, in your heart.” – Anthony expressed deeply. He took your hand making you look down at the gesture.
“You must feel it, because I do.” – he pressed his hand onto his chest, staring deeply at you. – “I love you.” – he repeated with all his heart. You scrunched your eyebrow softly at him. – “I don’t not know what to say.” – you told him. – “You don’t have to say anything.” – he answered letting his thumb brush against your hand he was still holding. – “I do not think there is anything else to say… other than I love you too.” – you answered heartily. Anthony exhaled stunned. – “You…” – he breathed out. You lowered your head smiling foolishly at yourself. He looked down taking your other hand in his too.
“I know I am imperfect but I will humble myself before you, because I cannot imagine my life without you and that is why I wish to marry you.” – he spoke with a smile. You returned his smile with one of your own. – “You do know there will not be a day that you shall not vex me.” – you told him teasingly. Anthony let go of your hand allowing his hand to go around your waist to your lower back. – “Is that a promise Y/n Holmes?” – he responded smug. You moved your head closer to his, drawn to him. – “It is a promise.” – you breathed out wanting his lips on yours.
Anthony inhaled deep near your lips, anticipating the moment your lips would touch. – “You are not going anywhere Y/n.” – he whispered to you teasing your lips with the presence of his. You vigorously shook your head moving your hands around his neck. – “I shall not.” – you replied before you forced your lips onto his. An explosion of feelings bursting inside of you. Lips kissing each other with the upmost passion and longing.
Your body being pressed against his, wanting you as deeply as he could. No more you needed to feel saddened. No more you needed to leave. No more you were unloved having finally found your match.
is this love (pt3)
Word count: 3023
You stood wringing your hands after your boyfriend’s sudden outburst. “Y-your… are you sure?” He asked, walking over to you and grabbing your hips.
You held up a pregnancy test with slightly shaky hands.
Sherlock looked at the two lines and began to pace, muttering words you couldn’t pick up.
“Sherlock. Sherlock? Sherlock!” You shouted, fear beginning to coil in your system.
Sherlock looked over at you. “What?”
“Talk to me dear.” You begged, looking up at him with fear in your eyes as tears threatened to break loose.
Sherlock slowly walked over to you before gently placing his hands on your hips. “I’m going to be a father?”
You nodded, trying to meet his gaze. “Yes, you are…”
Sherlock slowly sank into his chair. “I… this is a… a lot to take in…” he said as he shook his head in shock.
You frowned and cautiously walked over to him. “I-I know it’s a lot right now… considering that we… we’re…”
“We’re what?” Sherlock asked.
“We aren’t married, we haven’t even talked about getting married yet, and kids, i wasn’t planing on that for a while yet. And only if you wanted…” you felt tears coming to your eyes. “Do you even want this baby? Do you even want me... I mean now that I’m-”
Sherlock rose to his feet and cut you off by kissing you. “Shh, of course I want you. And this is our baby, of course I want this. It was unexpected but not unwanted. What kind of man would I be to send you away now that you’re caring my- our child. And besides, I promised I’d always protect you… you probably don’t remember that though you were pretty tired that day.”
You put your arms around Sherlock and smiled. “I don’t deserve you…”
“Shhh…”
You looked up at him. “What are we going to do? I mean, me being pregnant and people not even knowing we’re together… I-I…”
“Shhh… let’s talk to John about this.”
“What no! I-he’ll be… I don’t know how he’ll react.”
“We could at least talk to him about us getting married… even if it’s just before a judge and we could hold a wedding after the baby gets here…”
You nodded and wrapped your arms around him. “O-ok.” You said, the tears finally rolling down your face and falling.
Sherlock gently kissed your head. “Everything is going to be just fine.”
-.-.-
“So what did you want to talk to me about?” John asked as the three of you sat in the living room.
“Well…” Sherlock began.
You sighed and stood beginning to pace. Taking a shaky breath and looked at your brother. “I-I’m…”
“What is it… y/n you look pale.” Your brother said with worry laced in his voice. “Whatever is the matter?”
“I’m…pregnant…” you said before hiding your face in your hands and plopping down on the couch.
John blinked in shock.
Your arms went around yourself and you looked at the carpet which now seemed to be the most interesting thing in the room.
John began to pace. “When did this… when did this happen?”
You looked up. “Bout a week ago I started feeling off…” you mumbled.
“Sherlock why weren’t you more careful?”
“I was- we were…” he sighed. “I don’t really know how it happened… we’ve only…we’ve only done it a few times…” he mumbled.
You tightened the hug around yourself and let out a shaky sigh.
John slowly sat and you turned your head to look at him.
“I… and you took precautions?” He asked gesturing between the two of you.
You nodded. “John, we rarely even sleep together…”
John sighed. “This wasn’t what you really wanted to tell me though is it?”
You shook your head.
“No…we…” you sighed and pulled your knees up to your chest.
John stood. “Sherlock you aren’t breaking up with her because of this are you? Because you know damn well it’s just as much your fault as it is hers!”
“What?” You asked looking up. “No he’s not leaving me.”
“Oh…” John said sinking back into his chair.
“Quite the opposite in fact…” Sherlock said. “John I want to marry her, more than anything. Just before a Judge for now. We could hold a wedding after the baby comes… I just…”
“Wait you want to do this now?!” John asked startled.
“The sooner we can the better… I’d do it right now if we could.” Sherlock said.
Sherlock was now holding you in his arms, gently rubbing your back.
“I…well, I don’t recall there being any court sessions going on today. They could probably get you in in a few hours.”
You and Sherlock looked at one another and smiled. “What do you say?”
Sherlock nodded “yeah, let’s go get married…”
-.-.-
After the two of you were legally wed, Sherlock treated you like a goddess. He carried you up the steps, practically flying with happiness. You were finally his. Forever.
Sherlock spun with you in his arms. “Gosh I love you.”
You smiled as he set you down. “I love you too.” You muttered, putting your arms around his neck.
Sherlock smiled and pulled you even closer. “You’re incredible…” he whispered before placing a kiss on your cheek. “Now come, let’s look at some names…” Sherlock whispered.
You smiled. “Alright love, I’m coming…”
Sherlock sat on the couch with you right next to him. “Let’s see… he mumbled,” pulling out his phone.
You let your head fall on his shoulder. “do you think it’ll be a boy or girl?” You asked.
Sherlock shrugged. “I don’t know. I’ll be happy either way, as long as our baby is healthy.”
You smiled and looked up at your husband. “I love you Sherlock…”
Sherlock smiled. “I love you too, darling…”
You kissed his cheek. “Mmm…”
-.-.-
Eight months later you were waiting for results. “It’s a girl.” The doctor said looking at you. “And a healthy girl at that…”
You smiled and stood. “Thank you.”
“So who’s the father?”
You smiled but didn’t answer. “That’s for me to know.” You said as you turned to leave.
“Sherlock!” You called as you walked into room 221b.
Sherlock walked over to you. “Yes dear?”
“The doctor said it’s a girl.”
Sherlock smiled. “A girl?” He pulled you into his arms. “We’re having a girl!”
You could hear the fear and excitement in his voice.
You looked up at your husband and smiled. “Should we tell John?”
“If you wish. Or we could keep it between us.”
“Mmmm…” you mumbled, leaning into him. “Maybe we should just surprise him…” you mumbled.
“Alright love. Sounds good…”
-.-.-
A few days later Sherlock had received a letter from his mother. “She wants me to go visit.”
“Well you haven’t seen her in the time I’ve known you. She probably misses you.”
“True.” Sherlock said.
You put your arms around your husband. “You should go.”
“Not without you.”
You smiled. “Of course love.”
You and Sherlock prepared to take the trip to visit his mother. “Oh, y/n…” Sherlock said as he tossed a few things in his bag. “Mycroft will likely be there, I want you to be prepared for that.”
You put a dress in your bag and nodded. “Alright I understand love.”
Sherlock walked over and gently pulled you to his chest before placing a kiss on your forehead and swaying slightly. “I love you…” he mumbled as you pulled him closer so your lips could meet his.
“Mmm… I love you too…”
“We need to get going if we want to get there by noon…” Sherlock mumbled as you pushed him into the bed and continued to kiss him.
“In a minute I’m not done yet…” you mumbled, leaving a hickey on his collarbone.
“Y/nnnn…” he whimpered, “w-wha… what are you…” he fell silent as you kissed him with passion.
“Alright…” you muttered a few minutes later. “We can go now…”
Sherlock moaned in response and wrapped you in his arms. “Alright…” Sherlock muttered as his phone buzzed. “My assumptions were correct. Mycroft is already there.”
You kissed your husband one last time for good measure before crawling off of him. “You ready?”
Sherlock nodded and grabbed both his and your bag. “Let’s go.”
“Sherlock I can carry my own bag.”
“No, you’re carrying our child I can carry the bags.”
You chuckled but didn’t argue. “Alright.”
-.-.-
Upon arrival you were nervous. You were about to meet the rest of Sherlock’s family.
“Is your sister going to be here?” You asked.
Sherlock nodded. “Enola, yes.”
(I’ll be using a bit of the Enola Holmes movies for this including the house from the first movie lol)
You smiled as you both got out of the cab. “And she’s-” you paused as a girl maybe sixteen or seventeen years old ran up to Sherlock and immediately tackled him with a hug.
“My favorite brother is finally here!”
“I heard that!” Mycroft yelled from somewhere in the house.
You chuckled and pulled the bags out of the back seat as your husband embraced his little sister. “Mmm, you’re much better than Mycroft.”
“Am I chopped liver again?!?” Came another shout from inside.
You laughed which brought Enola’s attention to you.
You wrapped Sherlock’s jacket tighter around yourself, hiding the fact you were pregnant. It wasn’t time to tell them yet.
“Enola this is y/n.”
You shook her hand.
Once inside, Enola seemed very excited to show you around. “Have fun!” Sherlock shouted as he brought the bags to your room.
You fallowed the very happy girl down a hall.
“So, how do you know Sherlock?” Enola asked.
You chuckled at the memory. “I saved him from getting beat up.”
Enola looked at you. “That was you?”
You nodded. “He loves to get into trouble.”
“Seriously,” enola said. “He’s like a magnet for danger.”
You nodded. “It would seem so…”
“And this is my favorite place in the house,” Enola said opening a door.
You smiled. Books. And lots of them. Paintings sat in a corner and a beautiful globe spun softly as the wind cought it just right from the open window where a little black and white cat lay, enjoying the rays of sun.
“That’s Eustis, Sherlock found him a few years ago…”
You smiled as the cat jumped down and walked over to sniff you. He meowed up at you before looking around.
“He’s probably looking for Sherlock.”
“What?”
“Well considering that you’re wearing Sherlock’s jacket Eustis can probably smell him.”
“Oh, right…” you said realizing you were still wearing your husband’s jacket.
Enola smiled and picked up the cat. “Come on, let’s go find Sherlock.” She said to you.
The three of you. (Yes the cat also) went to find Sherlock.
You rounded a corner and walked into someone. “Sorry!” You immediately apologized.
“What are 𝘺𝘰𝘶 doing here?” Mycroft asked with a frown.
You looked up at him. “Sherlock wanted me to come.” You said, crossing your arms.
“He asked you to come?”
You nodded and pulled the jacket around you. “Have a problem with that?”
“Yeah I kind of do.”
“Well then you can address it with your brother.” You said, walking around him. “You coming?” You asked Enola.
“Yea. Sorry about him. He’s not big on new people.” Enola said.
Suddenly Sherlock stepped out of a room. “There you two are, I was just about to look for you.”
Eustis squirmed and jumped out of Enola’s arms and ran over to Sherlock.
“Hi Eustis…” Sherlock said, bending down and picking him up. “Did you miss me?”
“Why don’t you just take him with you?” Enola asked.
“I would but eustis loves to knock things over. And I can’t-”
You gently scratched the cat behind its ear. “Why won’t you keep him?”
“Y/n… a cat and a ba-you know what…” Sherlock hissed.
“Oh…wait, does she visit often or something?” Enola asked.
“Or something,” Sherlock said as you hid your blush.
-.-.-
At dinner, you and Sherlock sat next to one another. You were trying hard not to blush as Sherlock held your hand under the table.
“So y/n was it?” Sherlock’s mother asked.
“Yes,” you said as sherlock gave your hand a gentle squeeze.
You were nervous. You knew sherlock planned to tell everyone that you two were married. Likely now.
“It’s good to see my baby brother has some more… 𝘧𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘴…” Mycroft said.
“Oh enough,” you said, looking at Mycroft. “Be nice.”
“Be nice? I am being nice!” Mycroft said playing innocent.
You shook your head and took a bite of your food.
“I’m confused. Do you know Mycroft?” Enola asked.
You nodded. “Yes…”
Sherlock moved his hand to your knee as he went to eat as well.
“I’m sorry I’m confused as to the relationship here… is she your girlfriend?” Mycroft asked feigning innocence.
“Wife actually,” Sherlock said nonchalantly.
“Ah I see- what what?!?” Mycroft asked, jumping up.
Sherlock gave your knee another reassuring squeeze.
Enola dropped her fork. “You two are…what?!”
Their mother sat with a tiny smile on her face and a knowing look in her eyes. You then remembered Sherlock had told her the day you two got married.
Suddenly there was a clatter. “Sorry I’m late!” Came a voice. You figured it was Sherlock’s father.
“Care to join the family drama?” Mycroft asked, sitting back down. “Apparently these two are married.”
“Ah yes. You must be y/n it a pleasure to finally meet you in person.”
You smiled. “Yes I- Sherlock Holmes that is enough!” You scolded, waking his arm.
Sherlock looked away as he snickered like a child. “Someone’s angry…” he said as he laughed.
You shook your head. “You are like a child sometimes.”
Sherlock laughed harder.
“I can’t believe I’ll have to raise two of you!!”
Sherlock threw his head back and continued to laugh.
You smiled. Even though he was annoying you, his expression was perfect. He was perfect. You shook your head and scolded yourself for chuckling. “Sherlock…”
Your husband looked at you with a grin on his face.
You smiled and gently placed your hand on his cheek. “You’re a drama queen.”
He gasped and faked offense.
You shook your head again.
“Wait, you said you had to raise two, what do you mean?” Enola asked.
You and Sherlock looked at one another. You nodded and Sherlock smiled. “Y/n and I are expecting…”
Mrs. Holmes dropped her fork and Mr. Holmes slowly sat down.
“You’re… pregnant?” Mycroft asked softly as he blinked in shock.
You slipped off the jacket and stood.
Enola squealed. “Im going to be an aunt?”
You nodded and Enola smiled ear to ear. “I’m going to be an aunt!!!!”
You smiled and slowly sat back down.
“Can we eat before the food gets cold?” Sherlock asked.
You sighed and shook your head. “Yes dear.”
-.-.-
You were standing on the porch, staring at the sky which was deep purple and pink as the last rays of sun disappeared.
Suddenly Enola came running out of the woods as someone chased her. “Help!” She squealed as she was tackled. “I don’t have it!!!” She laughed. “Tewksbury!” She squealed. “Staaap!!!”
Sherlock ran out when he heard his sister’s screeches his parents were right behind him.
“Give it to me!!”
“Never! Sherlock catch!”
“Nooo!!!” Tewksbury said. “Give it back!”
-.-.-
In the morning, Sherlock and his parents headed into town claiming they’d be back by noon. Enola was with Tewksbury, claiming she had to help him with something.
You were alone. Mycroft had left at the early hours of the morning.
You were standing on the porch again when you sensed a presence close by. You turned to see Mycroft.
“Mind if I join you?”
You were surprised by his new behavior. “I-I guess…” you said.
He stepped onto the porch and sighed as he leaned against the railing. “I…” he took a breath and slowly let it out. “I realize my reaction to your presence has been far from acceptable…”
You were surprised.
“I’ve always been proactive of Sherlock. And then there was you and i… Sherlock already thinks I’m a nuisance constantly breathing down his back. I just don’t want him getting…hurt…” Mycroft was surprised by your reaction as you gently gave him a sloppy side hug.
“It’s alright, really, my brother is the same way, over protective, is terrified I’m going to hurt myself. Heck! He was a mess when I moved out.” You chuckled and shook your head as you placed your elbows on the railing and let out a sigh.
“So, when are you due?”
You smiled and placed a hand over your stomach. “Any day now…”
-.-.-
You were currently sitting across from Mycroft as he stared at the chess board. “You ever gonna go?” You teased.
“You know what just for that no.” He said, contemplating what to move. He smiled and killed your queen.
“Murderer!” You gasped. “How could you?!”
Mycroft smiled.
“Checkmate,” you said moving a piece.
Mycroft blinked in shock. “How?”
You chuckled and shrugged before going to stand up. A bad idea you stumbled back and placed a hand on your head.
“Are you alright?” Mycroft asked grabbing your arm to steady you.
“Yeah, just dizzy is all…” you whispered.
Sherlock did not get back at noon. He texted and explained they’d ran into some of his parents friends and was going to be a little late.
You were reading a book and Mycroft was making tea. He said you needed to take it easy.
“Since when did you become a doctor?!” You called.
Mycroft came in with a cup of tea. “I’m not. I just know enough. I was also there when both Sherlock and Enola were born, you need to take it easy.”
“Eh, makes sense.” You said as you took the cup of tea.
Enola entered the room. “Oh, it’s a party in here.”
You set the cup down and chuckled. “Sure you could call it tha-at…” you clutched your stomach. The baby was coming now…
Pt 4 soon :)
I'm a writer with too much time on my hands, excited to see who you come up witb
I am looking for a romantic relationship with any gender
I typically spend my time deeply entrenched in a book or reading some obscure forum for the specific niche I am currently interested in (right now that's the half life game series)
I have shoulder length wavy hair that is naturally brunette that I keep down and my fashion style is whatever is comfortable (Normall byy a black cotton shirt, large black jeans and a watch on my left arm)
I'm good at most mental problems like problem solving (Ironically not maths) and try to help with physical tasks but fail fairly often
Ideal future is any future where I am comftable and with whoever this partner ends up being but would love to settle down in a nice house with a large enough library and expansive garden
Mycroft Holmes
Mycroft Holmes first saw you in Oxford Street's Ruby Jubilee Tea Room.
While it was true that he did not frequent cafés, the Ruby Jubilee was, according to Mycroft, the only worthwhile place to take a break from his steadfast workaholic tendencies and drink tea, as it came with a bonus of observing mere goldfish.
He was in his bubble, they were in their tank.
But you...
Dressed in smart, comfortable (oh! how Mycroft unadmittedly longed for a day where he could match your level of cosiness and ease) oversized jeans and matching black cotton shirt, he watched you delicately hold the teacup to your lips and sip.
You returned to the Ruby Jubilee once a week, and by the third visit, you were vaguely aware of a presence, dark against the ivory walls and milky white furniture with tables laid with lace cloth, and pearly crockery for vanilla cream cakes and Victoria sponges.
You looked to your left to catch the eye of a posh man in a black pinstripe suit.
He smiled softly at you, placing his fork down on a half-eaten slice of cake.
You smiled back, but the connection subsided and you were quickly back to reading.
The next week, sitting alone at your usual table, your focus was broken by a familiar face.
"Good morning. I was hoping this seat wouldn't be taken... Mycroft Holmes is the name."
You introduced yourself, and allowed him to sit down.
That was the first of many more meetings where you would not pick up a novel inside of the Ruby Jubilee, instead absorbed in the beautiful man in front of you and your conversations.
Months later, you were living with Mycroft, in his mansion thirty minutes outside of the London suburbs.
The extensive collections of antique and classic books in the two-story library in the west wing coupled with the expansive gardens planted with roses and archways and a small stream with a little wooden bridge easily filled the hours in your day when Mycroft was working.
When Mycroft happened to be working at home, you would sit in your half of the office with your PC setup and spend time with your video games.
Meanwhile, Mycroft would be coordinating a meeting with the Russian oligarchs about the sanctions on their economy or mediating a borderline war brewing between South Korea and Japan.
However, as soon as Mycroft had a day off, he never failed to whisk you away to the Ruby Jubilee, and gift you with a new novel he had deduced you would like from your previous favourites.
It is an unspoken fact that Mycroft often steals your clothing (hoodies and jumpers) to sleep with or cuddle, or even simply hold and have near him while in the office or sitting room, because it is comfortable.
You ended up buying him baggy jeans and jogging bottoms paired with cotton t-shirts for optimal comfort, but it still took forever to convince him to try them on.
Now he doesn't even blink at his suits when home.
Needless to say, while he may not be one for PDA or excessive touch, he loves you a lot ❤️
