I like to think the neighbors sometimes come into Howdy’s shop and just hang around while he does other things. Like a cafe! Though, he’d probably tell them to leave at some point. But they may also leave on their own since Howdy’s such a chatterbox! Ha!

One of the things that is liable to happen to peahens as they get older is their ovary runs out of eggs. When this happens, they enter henopause, at which point there's a good chance that they molt out of their hen feathers, and into male plumage.

Aurora here has always had a very faint amount of green in her train, but never this much. At 16 years old, she's already beat out the average henopause age of 14, likely due to the fact that I don't push my birds to lay eggs through the whole breeding season, I let them set nests. But last year, she only laid a couple of eggs, maybe 4 compared to her usual 10-12.

So I do wonder, seeing the green in her train, if in the fall of this year she will grow in a hen train again, or if she'll begin the 2-3 year process of switching over. Time will tell I suppose.
