drawing/explanation of buffy and/or dawn summers scars/design? i love ur willow and i want to know how u think abt buffy & dawn

ah thank youuu!!! I love to talk designs so I will do my best, I haven5 done any refrence sheet with either of them and def have less hcs cause well willow is the center of my brain but I do very much have thoughts. (I’ve got a criminally low amount of Dawn drawings despite the fact she’s my second favourite character)

doing a lil cut off cause it’s prob gonna be a lot of text, warning self harm mention at the Dawn part!!!

so starting with buffy. Some little details include that I draw her with moles cause they’re pretty and I like having more texture on the skin when I draw it, I draw her with a tooth gap cause it’s cute and fun, aswell as curly hair cause she has it every now and then but mainly cause I loveeeee drawing curly hair aswell as bc my bf has curly hair and buffy makes me think of her so yeah :) as well as shark bites every now and then bc of the same reason. I loveee drawing her with bandanas as well as whatever those things she wears in the drawing below are called.

Onto scars I don’t have many that specific ones. I don’t have her like injuries as memorized as I do willows and also yk slayer healing. Face scars I only really draw her with one, that being an eyebrow scar she got after getting a piercing in s4 that IMMEDIATELY got ripped out on patrol (willow took care of it, Joyce didn’t even have time to panic over the piercing before having the scar as her whole new problem)

i often draw her with scars on her knuckles cause punching and/or bandaids on them and her fingers, the bandaids on her fingers are also partly cause well splinters, preventory measure. I often draw her with bandages and bandaids on the rest of her body too. They aren’t often that needed or needed for a long time but still, keeping the wounds from infection.

other than that i tend to give her the scar from when she was shot in seeing red (tho im thinking about making it like, look less like a normal scar since it was healed with like, really strong dark magic). And then just small and big random scars that don’t really have specific connections (she can’t herself remember when she got most of them. Too many fights. Too many scars, they become insignificant, but there's still too many, she knows that much)

as you can probably notice I loveee enhancing Buffys childish whimsy cause she lost a lot of her more so teenage years than childhood-childhood and I like to let her just breathe

Onto Dawn, my dearest, everyone’s little sister.

she has a tooth gap just like her sister as well as mini mini canine looking teeth like some people (Michelle trachtenberg included) have.

draw her hair mostly straight but I’d probably say it’s at least wavy, I at least used to draw her with vitiligo and Marie Antoinette syndrome and I’m not sureee about that head-canon anymore but I still like it, so it’s 50-50

she also has freckles!!!!

For scars I really don’t have much check on canon injuries with her but I’ve got some

She has scars from when glory opened/tried to open the portal in the gift, it serves as a reminder of what happened also logically speaking she’d just simply probably keep those scars

she still has her scar from blood ties, but other than that I hc that she’s had a continued problem with sh so therefore just like with willow, she has multiple sh scars on mainly her arms.

So. Basic concept: A world very much the same as ours, but acting mostly hidden from the public eye, are national crime syndicates in every country. Pretty much all are spearheaded by the boss of one noteable family that ensured that position some generations ago (those bosses are the Hetalia nations, ordinary Humans here) and two right hands. The AU is called Like Father Like Son.

Now, these syndicates are very much globally connected and when it comes to each other, act less than actual organized crime organisations in real life and more like monarchies or other types of state conducting diplomacy. Also, as is very unlikely for real life and much more common for royality, the bosses have usually inherited the business and had no option to opt out/felt it was the right thing to do. This is nuanced along the way, but again, stark difference to the volatile infighting and general hierarchies from real life organized crime (where the successor is probably NOT the 17 year old son, but a trusted right hand).

But they are, at the end of the day, gangsters. They fight for their own survival and supreme status within the other criminals in their own country and amongst their peers. (Alexa, play 741 Millionen by Tüsn). They don't represent states or governments or even people. They're in it because power is nice and the sunk-cost fallacy is too great to get out.

But because I am a history nerd, they still reflect certain phases and struggles and ideas about nationhood, like their Hetalia counterparts actually would. And here is where it gets interesting.

The protagonists of the AUs mainseries, called also called Like Father Like Son with the subtitle Sangue cattivo non mente on ao3, are the Irish and the Sicilians. So it's my Hetalia OCs (though I borrowed the Sicilian from a friend) Harry O'Connel and Michele Vento, plus Harry's younger sister Sophie O'Connel, and the Human-from-the-start right hands Paddy O'Neill, Charlie Higgins and Marco & Lorenzo Bontade.

And if you're looking for an Irish villain, where do you look to? England. Always the Brits. 'May the enemies of Ireland never meet a friend'. Which is why Arthur Kirkland, along with his right hands Robert Bailey and Tahir Rashid, serves as antagonist to the Irish in many stories. And of course, this makes it easy to present the fight as underdogs vs powerful evil empire, along the line of actual historical conflict. (I am oversimplifying, but we aren't here to argue details right now and in broad strokes, it IS right). If the reader has an inkling of Irish or British history, they will see the parallels. I, as the author, work it into metaphors by the narrative entity (usually occupying one character's POV, tho not to be confused with the character being the narrator). I work it into the general themes, with characters talking about history or historical/cultural backdrops. And of course, by that the characters themselves draw the parallels and pull on old stereotypes to rage against their enemies. Arthur likes to pull out the old stereotypes of the Irish being a belligerent, backward and unreasonable race when he paints Harry as a troublemaker. Harry will paint Arthur a tyrant who can't stand to see another man free when he feels entitled to his property and life. It's so enticing to believe that you know where to stand, to know where's right on the merits of history and the real world alone.

But as soon as you take a step back, you realize how they merely use something bigger and greater than themselves to fight their petty wars. Paddy and Charlie rail against the English after they've kidnapped Harry, they say Arthur thinks the world should grovel before him because it's his righ as an Englishman. But they're never alluding to anything bigger than themselves; yes, Irish are being kicked down, but it's just them. And sure, they may say an Irishman doesn't give up and that's what the English shall see, but it's the rhetoric of revolution without its goals. There's no British threat to Ireland - no fight they can align themselves with, because Arthur certainly isn't aligned with any either. Truly, if they were so committed to it, they would look with more sympathy to Tahir, whose parents came from Pakistan in the 1970s. They'd appeal to him, see the parallels of history with Ireland and the British Colony of India. But while the English tyranny rhetoric is usually reserved for white Arthur and Robert, at the end of the day, Tahir's also an 'English pedant' and haughty prick to them. And Tahir, similiarly, doesn't have much sympathy for the Irish, seeing them as annoying obstacles to their business dealings. He's in this to give his family a better life, he knows there is nothing grand about their enterprise. They all know that. In quiet moments, amongst themselves, they even express it. The farce they play; that the ideals they want to hold they betray; that they are a cancer on the people and country they love.

And I just. I love that. I love how it still has the themes one can ask in more substantial explorations of Hetalia - the constraints of free will, bearing the sins and burdens of the past, how much you can be an individual and how much you are a role. I love how it makes them true individuals, in the end, how it employs history as something that is interpreted from the witnesses we have to the past and told through our own eyes. How it seemingly creates this parallel to real history, but when one steps back, it shows that it's play pretend and it makes the reader sympathize while also keep its distance at times, enjoying a story that is fundamentally about a lot of people making the wrong decisions and living with the consequences. It's a tragedy, a meta-level of mourning - with none of that hope for a future that any reading of history can have.

At the time of the incident, Michelle Carter was a 17 year old high school student from Plainville, Massachusetts. Carter had suffered with depression and an eating disorder since a young age and had been on mood stabilizing medication since the age of 14.

During the summer of 2012 while on vacation in Florida, Carter met Conrad Roy lll who was also from Massachusetts. Even though the two lived just thirty five miles apart, over the next two years they only saw one another just a few times and chose to communicate through text messaging.

Roy worked at the family marine salvage business and had obtained his captains license at just 18 years old.

Roy also suffered with extreme depression as well as social anxiety and suicidal thoughts. He had even attempted suicide via acetaminophen overdose in October 2012 after his parents had divorced. Immediately after the attempt he began counseling, cognitive behavior therapy, and medication.

For several months in 2014 Carter and Roy exchanged numerous text messages with the talk of Roy committing suicide. Carter at first did not agree and begged him not to do such a thing. However, sometime in June or July she changed her mind and had agreed it would be better for Roy if he didn't have to deal with his mental illnesses and would commit suicide. Carter even promised she would help his family with anything they needed after his death.

A few days leading up to the event Carter and Roy devised a plan for Roy to buy a generator and use it inside his truck thus filling the cab with carbon monoxide, killing him.

Roy had a lot of apprehension about going forward with the suicide but Carter assured him it was for the best.

On July 12, 2014, Roy collected the generator, gas can, and drove to a local K-Mart parking lot.

Once there he texted back and forth with Carter about what he was going to do.

At 7:12pm they spoke on the phone for 47 minutes.

During the conversation Roy had started the generator and the vehicle began filling with carbon monoxide. Roy became scared and exited the truck but Carter encouraged him to get back inside, which he did.

July 13, 2014, Conrad Roy lll was found deceased.

Carter had admitted to a friend through text that she had been encouraging Roy to commit suicide. This lead to police confiscating Carter's cell phone finding the texts between her and Roy.

Carter was indicted on February 4, 2014.

She was tried as a youthful offender, meaning she could possibly be tried as an adult. Carter also denied having a jury present for her trial.

Judge Lawrence Moniz concluded that Carter wantonly and recklessly assisted in Roy's suicide by there being a "broken chain of causation" from when Roy had left the truck to when she urged him to return and by not alerting anyone to be able to help Roy.

By February 6, 2019 the Massachusetts Supreme Court ruled Michelle Carter had acted with criminal intent when she assisted with Roy's suicide and she was charged with involuntary manslaughter.

Carter was sentenced to 2 1/2 years that was then reduced to fifteen months along with five years probation.

Carter was released on good conduct January 23, 2020

and that said, point is, fandom doesn’t hate theon because of alfie, fandom & the media hate/don’t care for theon because he’s not an easy sell for anyone who sticks to black and white characters, and the show is bad at selling them. the problem is that the show treats theon like crap anyway (or has been since S4 anyway) so good luck on noticing, and regarding the hbo/emmy drama tbh I don’t even care because I mean, guys, NCW didn’t get a nomination for S3 and jaime’s a lot more popular than theon, michelle fairley never did either and emilia clarke who’s arguably the least talented of the bunch gets one every year. the only one with skills who also gets press and nominations and shit is peter dinklage and peter plays a fan favorite who’s definitely more immediately likeable to the average viewer. like, people will get theon when they put some damned effort into seeing beyond JON SNOW/DANY/TYRION/THE DRAGONS/WAIT DO OTHER PEOPLE EXIST, the emmys will always favor the characters who sell (same as hbo) and the theon fandom is sadly irrelevant among the got subfandoms, like harping on people doing edits is hardly what’s going to make things better. like, we should find offensive that someone’s made an edit?

lastly, my own personal gripe, i’ve rarely seen a fandom so quick to dismiss someone as a love interest (i’m only in like. 3 tho so). people are fr acting like my girl didn’t exist. i know she moved ..... trust me i know but ?????? the things that happened to her, her family, also have effects on the characters around her. without a doubt. but everybody wanna act like she didn’t exist, so. & honestly ? i’ve seen hella arguments abt how people were wondering why laura got waaay less press in regards to being peter’s love interest IN THIS MOVIE (yes, i clarified bc i know she won’t be in other movies & honestly that’s not even why i’m pressed !!). but most people dismiss the skeptics like ‘well she’s not his love interest for the rest of them so she doesn’t need the hype’. gwen wasn’t going to be had tasm continued either lmao but her death/his interactions with her still affected him as a character. just as peter’s interactions with liz (savin her life, going to hoco, etc) & how their relationship left off would affect him. not as drastically, i imagine, but it’d still be a big deal. & i know laura’s probably not complaining  but here’s all i gotta say on that: liz is literally connected in p big ways to the film’s protagonist & the film’s antagonist. ....... like come on who do y’all think you’re fronting with that argument. ‘cause it sure ain’t me

Spider-Man: Homecoming 8.25/10

A solid addition to the pantheon of cinematic Spider-Men. ***random spoiler talk***

-The first half of the movie feels a bit disjointed and jumps from scene to scene… why is this such a common problem with modern movies??? They try to cram so much in the first half and do it so inelegantly, making the movie feel overwhelming at times… The pacing improves from the second half on and really gets going though. -Michael Keaton’s Vulture/Adrian Toomes is one of the better MCU villains in that you can sorta get where he is coming from, and Keaton plays him menacingly but injects some real humanity in him. He’s probably my favorite part of the movie! Hell, he even gets his own leitmotif (when was the last time a marvel villain had one?). My 2nd favorite cinematic spidey villain after Alfred Molina's Doc Ock. -Tom Holland plays a very awkward, eager Peter Parker. Definitely suits a young Spidey just starting to learn about the whole superhero gig and what it means. He makes mistakes and web-slings about in a clumsy manner in the same way a teenager drives a car for the first time. He definitely suits Peter/Spidey better than Andrew Garfield (who was just a creepy jerk, due to a bad script). He’s definitely more teen-like than Tobey Maguire, but we never really got much high school Peter in the original trilogy. Holland even looks kinda like a young Tobey… -While Holland presents a very likeable young Spidey, something about him feels very manufactured and there isn’t much depth to him as I’d like… any issues with him balancing teenage problems with heroics is glossed over, hitting similar beats as the Maguire series but not following through or really using them to add much to the overall plot/themes. While it was cute seeing him deal with petty crime with mixed results, he mostly just whines about wanting to do more with the Avengers, then at the end he decides to just be a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man instead even when offered a full Avengers gig. And i never really felt i was watching him actually swinging around as Spider-Man… he goes from flesh and blood kid to a cartoon character during action scenes (dodgy CGI as usual, lacking a sense of mass/weight). The final action scenes however definitely felt more realistic (when he is forced to put on his old homemade costume), and evoked the climax of the first Maguire film. -The action scenes in general were merely serviceable. You sort of sit there and watch stuff happen but it doesn’t “wow” you as much… there isn’t really anything new or creative being done here. The details of the action sort of leave your head once its over… and some scenes are shot so chaotically you can’t even see what is happening. This is especially true during part of the finale on the cargo plane. Regardless, Vulture looks really cool in every scene he’s in. And it’s neat to see all the alien tech being used in the street level crime. Lots of callbacks to past MCU films and the messes the heroes made, giving us a new perspective on the consequences of battle (like Civil War and Zemo, but smaller). -What new stuff that IS in the action though is great. You get to see spidey out of his element. Him being forced to run on the ground due to lack of tall buildings is fun, and his high-tech suit generates some nice laughs with its overload of Starkian upgrades. I find it hilarious that his suit is voiced by Jennifer Connelly, who is married to Paul Bettany who voiced Jarvis. -The supporting cast is great and gives the movie some nice laughs and character. Ned gets a bit annoying sometimes though due to his constant fanboying, but hell, who wouldn’t go crazy knowing your best friend is an Avenger? Michelle is a deadpan snarker and is also likeable but didnt amount to much (is she really THAT MJ though, or is this a misdirection?). Flash was a modern bully-type and also didn’t do much besides call Peter “Penis Parker” for whatever reason. The whole John Hughes ferris beuller breakfast club vibe sometimes feels more like window dressing, but does help establish what point in his life Peter is in at the moment. Liz was alright, but she seemed more like an object of Peter’s affection for the plot than much else… they lacked any real chemistry together since Peter mostly just gawked at her. -The plot twist….

-Kinda saw it coming, since they kept mentioning Toomes’ family but never showed them. They wouldn’t NOT show them at some point cuz that’d be sloppy storytelling (though wouldn’t put it past them due to past disappointing villains in the MCU). Odds were they were someone you already knew to give some impact, and who else could provide an “Oh Shit!” moment other than Liz? The movie at that point was in dire need of a shakeup before the climax, and a bomb like that woulda done it. And it did. The scenes from then on between Toomes and Peter were fantastic, full of tension. And it gave more personal stakes for the struggle between Peter and Toomes during the climax. I wonder how it woulda been if they revealed this earlier on though and didnt hide the familial relationship… Glad they let Toomes live. Lets Peter be the hero he needs to be. -Tony Stark/Iron Man is in the movie quite a bit, and sometimes it feels like he just pops up suddenly (fishing Peter out of the river is one moment). He has a very nice scene though when he is mad at Peter for the ferry disaster, and RDJr plays him well as a surrogate father deeply disappointed in his son. Happy Hogan is in the film more than Stark and his presence is fun, since we havent seen him since Iron Man 3. Also… surprise Pepper Potts! The three have a great, cute scene together! -Captain America (now a war criminal!) has some funny cameos wearing his goofy Avengers 1 outfit. -Marissa Tomei is a neat new Aunt May, believable as an aunt. And the last gag of the movie was hilarious (with serious consequences for the series!) -The music score is better than the Amazing series but isnt as memorable as Danny Elfman’s score from the first two. Though the orchestral classic Spidey theme over the Marvel Studios logo… bliss. -I could go on more about this movie (who the hell is even gonna read this…), but so far, despite the gripes/nitpicking, it is probably the 3rd best Spidey movie thus far, maybe even 2nd best? Spider-Man 2 is still my top spidey movie, it just felt more cohesive and had better emotional thematic pay-offs, and better action scenes. Spider-man 1 also felt more coherent and wasn’t bogged down by links to a greater cinematic universe, even if some parts of it are a little too cheesy (“Deliver us…” “FINISH IT!!!” “From eviiiiil!!!”). People may complain about Maguire’s portrayal, but in 2/3 movies he felt like a real human being you could relate to. Still, Holland is on his way to being a terrific Spider-Man if he is allowed to come out of the shadow of the MCU.

But 200+ OCs and your longest AU's are massive, show yeah 👀👀 And you enjoy ships that bicker... cos....

Additionally: -completed devoted to the one they love (and would suffer for them) is a dynamic that interests you -u think the italian language is hot af -i get the feeling that michele is either how u want to be loved (idyllic love), or michele is how you love, cos that's your comfort ship (sic/ire)

1. That's pretty accurate! I have this fear that I'll never have enough time on this earth to do what I want (but I've been working on getting rid of that fear. There's enough time). I'm so fascinated by the world that we're living in, what used to be and how it relates to what is. The endless multiplicities of identity that a group can contain or even an individual.

So indeed, I make OCs based on what I learn about the world and in turn the OCs give me a good way to interact safely with the knowledge I find. It's a perpetuum mobile of creativity and knowledge.

And history is just the entirety of human experience on this planet, so trying to breathe some more life into it via Historical AUs is one of my favourite ways to engage with it. I love writing term papers as much as trying to apply the scientific findings to actual people. (I think one of my favourite things may be Sexuality in the res publica AUs, the do's & don't's that aren't the same as they are now. I freed Michele & Lovino from their catholic guilt, only to immediately constrain them with the class & gender expectations of the Roman Republic lmao).

2. I never thought about it like that, but yes! I enjoy bickering because it's an admission of closeness! You can't have friendly bickering if you're not close! (Which is why Hugo & Alois Are Like That. I enjoy them constantly mocking each other greatly, but it's never friendly and it always ends in a mess).

My family had and has its shares of problems, but I know that we love each other. Immensely. We're also that kind of family to constantly poke fun at each others, so I think that's why I instinctively resort to this kind of dynamic, with any kind of close relationships. It's not the ONLY one, because that would be boring, there are so many more ways to express love and it naturally doesn't suit every kind of character.

3. I DO love the "i love you, i hate you, but i cannot escape from you". Maybe also for personal reasons, we're not getting that private on here. It's one of the inherent tragic aspects of Hetalia that has fascinated me for a long time: They're human and they feel like humans, but they lack part of their free will. They somehow have to survive entire lifetimes, loving and hating and remembeand worse, they have to bear decisions they themselves don't necessarily make. The relationships they form with the only other people like them, whether it'd be bonds of platonic, familiar or romantic love, the only solace and stability might have, may be snatched away from them. It can turn to hate or grow cold or another nation can disappear afterall and there is nothing they as individual people could have done about it. It's a double-edged sword - You tie yourself to someone who could be your raft as well as sink you to the bottom of the ocean.

I inevitably ended up keeping this kind of relationship in my "Like Father Like Son" Universe. Now, quick disclaimer - I am not saying they are solely the victim of their circumstances. They're all criminals in my AU and I have zero patience for making excuses for the Organized Crime. I worry greatly about the problematic aspects of my work and am well aware of them. The last thing I ever want to do is actively romanticize the Mafia. I want to add for the following part, too, that I draw as much on the real world as possible, but the structures of the organized crime in LFLS are a little more reminiscent of Monarchy or Aristocrazy.

With that out of the way however, the worldbuilding in LFLS mirrors their existence in Hetalia. Escaping their position would come with great dangers, even though their existence as is will never allow them true happiness. They're different from the people around them and there is a special connection between the Hetalia characters as bosses here - All of them inherited this position. They all basically suffer under the same yoke, they all are faced with the same difficulties. And, like in Hetalia, some of their decisions are out of their control. Business overrides their private life. They have to look out for their own people and families, for their own survival, so they may hurt the ones they love. And yet, and yet, they cling to one another. Try to make it as functional as possible. Take the pain for the relief. It's not pretty, but it's fascinating as an onlooker and fictional tragedies are also a great outlet for one's own emotions.

4. That also kind of ties in with "completed devoted to the one they love (and would suffer for them) is a dynamic that interests you". Hells yeah it does, because two people losing themselves is beautiful. Yes, it can be toxic, yes one should take care of oneself and have boundaries. But unconditional love is something I believe we all yearn for and I hope I one day get to devote myself to someone else again, as much as is healthy.

Again, it's also not just perfect for lovers, but for siblings and guardian figures. Paddy would lay his life down for Harry, Charlie & Soph. ("There's no pain that I won't go through/Even if I have to die for you" - Starset; "I love my children more than anything in this life! I will chose their happiness over mine, every time!" - Slightly changed version of Congratulations from the Hamilton Mixtape).

Gilbert who's so eager to be here for Ludwig and to protect him; to take anything off his brothers shoulder that he can.

And on the romantic side, is there anything better than two people simping head over heels for each other??? Or when a character wants to kiss/fuck another one so bad that it makes him look stupid??? I also love more quiet, more serene relationships, but to appreciate their calm, you have to make a storm to compare them to. All storm or all calm only gets you bored and exhausted.

5. Hell yeah do I think the Italian language is hot af, who'd disagree with me? It also unlocks emotions that were previously unavailable when I listen to Italian music. (German does the same. There is just something to each language that it can express certain feelings in a way like no other). YOU tell me that you listen to Shimmy Shimmy by Takagi & Ketra and aren't hypnotized by Giusy's voice. No other soundtrack for my Sicilians, Greeks and Turks fooling around on a beach and being highly erotic with each other.

6. Hm, this may be tying in with 2 again. I think I'm more of a Harry, personally, to be honest! (Nerdy, got aggression problems, cheeky, hothead, can't really cook). I think SicIre is my comfort ship because it's the type of love my parents had. It's what I am most accustomed to and there's also just a beauty in not caring what the rest of the world has to say and doing your own thing. And Harry isn't the prettiest bloke on the block and will probably never think of himself as beautiful, but that is fine because Michele looks at him like a sky full of stars. And the entire world can tell him Michele's a bastard, Harry won't listen to them. From a hetalia standpoint, these two are islands who had to suffer a lot from foreign occupation and being regarded as backwards & weird. Sicily tries to keep the autonomy it has and makes sure that others know they aren't like the mainland and Ireland fought hard for its independence from the British empire. From a LFLS standpoint, Harry embraces Michele with all of his past baggage and jagged pieces. Harry is the first person Michele never fell out of love with, the only one, and he's here to reassure Harry that he is worth caring for every step of the way.
