The two pilots were completely caught off guard by being featured on the kiss cam and right now were both regretting even coming to see Tokyo 3 High School's baseball game.

Shinji figures that Asuka is going to do something like give the camera the middle finger and turns to say something only to turn straight into redhead's face.

Shinjiro had always been able to handle pain. To him, it was second nature. Growing up with Akihiko being the rough-and-tumble type he is even before learning how to box, in the Orphanage they both were raised in, meant there was a level of necessity to be able to roll with the punches, rewarded when you could, punished when you couldn't. a skill he'd learn repeatedly, endlessly, the necessity of during his time away from SEES. ━ the second you were on your ass, or you froze up, or your arms were tied, it made you easy. easy to hurt. easy to kill. ━━ Shinjiro never liked making things easy for anyone.

SEES had always been an exception, though : or rather he should say it'd always been to those he considers friends, which might be why for all the way he twitches; arm in Takeba's grasp as the muscles seize & he can't help the way the overzealous pang of nerves make him want to rip it away outright; he does not pull away even as he draws a sharp breath through his teeth, ignores the way the smell of antiseptic makes him feel more than slightly lightheaded, clenches his hands into fists before; in a moment of surprisingly animalistic single-minded worry; thinks that shit, he'd rather not look like he's about to hit her when she's helping him out, and lets his rough hands go limp again.

Still, his fingers twitch as the burns are cleaned, nerves overworked and bitterly loud in this fact. He'll have to jab at Akihiko later to aim his Zionga's better next time they're in Tartarus together, just for the fun of starting a fight, even if he knew damn well it wasn't Aki that kept lighting him up like a Christmas tree this time...

a piece of Shinjiro recognizes that Yukari might be helping him in the first place because of this fact, but as it is not the one cussing wildly ( and he can't pretend he knows her all that well to begin with ), he elects to ignore it.

a well-worn sigh escapes him, gazing at the burns littering his hands & arms as the roughest parts that had to sustain the damage; melee be scorned, his axe like a lightning rod. it deepens into a light scowl, stare flicking to Yukari's face. it stays there a long few moments, before he speaks again.

" ... I'm lucky it's not bad enough to get Mitsuru in a twist about it, but you don't gotta do this, you know. " Shinjiro studies her, meticulous, which always ends up feeling like he's trying to scare you out of something when it was him doing it. maybe he was. " It's some burns. It'll heal fast. Besides, you were carrying my ass most of the way anyways. "

Maybe this one is more on the serious side — in the post EOE au, Shinji asks Asuka if she really meant it, what she said back in instrumentality … “if I can’t have you all to myself, then I don’t want anything from you”

"Asuka can we talk for a moment... it's uh... do you uh do you remember what you said back during instrumentality, the thing about us?" Shinji asked out of the blue while the two pilots sat around a fire a few miles outside of what had been Tokyo 3.

"Do we have to talk about that mess!? Verdammt noch mal! I want to get that whole mess out of my head. Fine, but this is the last time we ever bring it up you got that?!" Asuka snapped, she counted Instrumentality as one of her worst memories.

"Yeah uh that's fine, I'd like to forget it all myself it's just... it's just that you said... you said that if you couldn't have me to yourself you didn't want anything to do with me... i uh I can't just forget that." Even if he wanted to forget, what had happened had made the teenager much less willing to let something like this go.

"Oh great. Of course that's what you're hung up on." Asuka paused for a moment. This was what she hated about Instrumentality, both she and Shinji had for a single endless moment been completely honest with each other even if they hadn't wanted to be.

"genau, you were always fawning over Misato and Rei and every other girl in sight and I couldn't stand it! I want you to be mine only! If I had my way you couldn't even talk to other girls!" Asuka says.

"Oh uh... you're probably right but..." Even though he had asked he expected Asuka to tell him to screw off. Whatever their relationship was now, it had yet to include any heart to hearts.

"What I felt for Ayanami and Misato was... well I guess I thought of them as family, I mean... you were... you're family too Asuka but with you... I mean... with you I wanted things to be... I mean we're more... or I wanted us to be more.." Shinji sighed and didn't finish his disjointed thought.

"It's not like there even are any other girls anymore. There's just the two of us, so I guess there's nothing for you to worry about huh."

"Considering our current situation I'm not sure if you want me to be happy about that. Egal! We need to forever all that nonsense and keep moving." Asuka replies bringing the topic to a close.

In the kitchen, Shinji was humming to himself while cooking some breakfast. He was already having his two sweet little girls in the kitchen with him as he was cooking a big breakfast. Humming and putting some food on plates with his tail swaying slightly.
