A small knock could be heard on Theos door. A bracelet and a drawing that said ‘best papa ever!’ Some candy was then placed infront of the door aswell. Froggy hid behind a corner so she could see her father’s reaction as well as giving him some space.

Theo opened the door and looked down at the gifts. Yeah, he wasn't in the mood, yeah, he didn't really want to see people, but- he knelt to read the note and look at the bracelet. And, somehow, it made him feel a little better. She didn't hate him. By the gods, she didn't fucking hate him. He cracked a smile and pulled his left sleeve up, revealing six other bracelets, and slid the newest one on.

notebook repeated the directions to the care center over and over in their head. they really did not want to mess this up, because a little part of them -- well, actually, a lot of them -- were quite afraid and respectful of cobs.

A girl ducks into the temple dedicated to the Roman version of her mother, Aphrodite, she’d been invited by a friend’s family to come stay with them in New Rome for a while, and had accepted.

Her Mary Janes clicked on the floor as she marveled at the beauty of the temple, completely unaware of Octavian’s presence for a good three minutes.

“Oh! Oh my gods, am I interrupting something!? I’m so so sorry!” Haven gasps, noticing him, face immediately flushing with embarrassment.

“…….what are you doing though?” She asks, eyeing the gutted stuffed animal on the altar.

The temple of Venus was... not Octavian's usual spot. Most of the time, he was in the temple dedicated to Jupiter Optimus Maximus. Though, perhaps changing his place of practice sometimes would help? Benefit him somehow? Maybe the other temples were better for this job than others? He doubted Venus would be a good pick, but it didn't hurt to try.

He was trying to read the insides of a stuffed dog, he considered getting a dove but that felt a little bit too offensive — to sacrifice a stuffed version of the goddess's sacred animal — when he heard someone talk behind him. Honestly, he wouldn't have even noticed the person was there if they haven't spoken up.

"I'm working." He replied simply, not taking his eyes off of the stuffie, trying to make any sense of the shapes it potentially created.

Theo left. He just... left. At this point, it should not be surprising. He leaves all the time. But this felt off. If anyone were to be near Commodus's palace, they might've seen him walk off with a bunch of boxes that looked to be gifts, headed to his usual spot in the nearby forest. Probably to relax. People probably shouldn't bother him. But why did he have boxes with him this time? He usually leaves empty-handed.

Today is... off. It's been feeling off. He knew why- but he didn't want to bother anyone with it. Theo didn't like today, anyway, so why should he tell anyone? It wasn't their problem, plus if he told them... He could imagine their reactions. The unwanted attention he'd draw to himself. He'd hate it. Hate hate HATE it. It wouldn't even be an exaggaration if someone were to say he would want to die.

So, he decided to spend today alone. Today wasn't special. He made sure he made today not special at all. The one thing that was different today were the gift boxes he took with him. He finally finished his projects, so he just... stared at those boxes. Did he really want to give them to people? Were they enough? Was he enough? He's been acting like an asshole so much lately, did people even want to hang out with him at this point?

He sat on the forest floor, the boxes spread out in front of him as he just... stared. That's how you found him, sitting with his knees up to his chest, hands around his legs, staring. He didn't even notice that someone came near.

smth abt ziyal is when I'm rewatching those cringy moments with her and garak, they canonically aren't flirting the cardassian way. They are so cordial and polite to each other that it's so plain that at the very least garak has no romantic intentions towards her. He treats her like how he treats o'brien. He has more chemistry with odo

I used to be of the opinion on my first watch that the ziyal garak thing never should have happened (and it definitely could have been handled differently - sometimes it felt like different writers had different intentions with their dynamic and it got weird)

And to preface there was DEFINITELY homophobia involved in the doylist explanation for why garak got ( to what the average viewer saw as) a young female love interest

But one thing people don't tend to realise is that its stated QUITE plainly that garak doesn't return her feelings. He definitely didn't push her away hard enough, but he's a bit of a scumbag who prioritised having any sort of positive relationship with a cardassian over telling her to fuck off. (I also imagine he wanted to spare her feelings)

I think Garak could realise (bad dad squad) that Ziyals views on men (especially older cardassian men) was a very fragile topic to be handled and she was pretty much constantly rejected by her kind - which definitely lended itself to letting her kiss him, but he did outright tell her he didn't like her that way, so I'm not mad.

Ziyal is jumbled all the way up. Thank you Dukat. And Garak clearly thinks it's really funny to not fully dispel the rumour so he can deal immense psychic damage to her father.

They really aren't flirting the cardassian way - like ever - but I don't think that's to say Ziyal doesn't understand cardassian flirting. She is absolutely like her father in the sense that she manipulates kira into hanging out with her dad just because she wants them to get along - despite knowing Kiras genuine aggression doesn't match up with Dukats flirtatious kind. Ziyal is a good person but she is also related to Dukat and by God will she manipulate

One thing I will patently disagree with is the comparison to how garak treats O'brien (in regards to the general sexlessness).

That is wrong. Have you seen empok nor. Garak absolutely has a weird one sided homoerotic jealously thing with O'brien. It's O'brien who wants him shot out an airlock. That's on garak.
