Who wants to be friends in the way that we make a pact so that when I’m murdered you have to avenge me by killing my murderer and if I’m nearing the end of my life without murder you have to kill me and then have a crisis over wether you have to avenge me by killing themself (but you don’t it’s ok)

I have a feeling that Sanji and Zoro’s death pact will be properly resolved in Elbaf, as it certainly doesn’t feel like we’re done with it. And while Elbaf is gearing up to be very Usopp-centric (and I can not overstate how hyped I am to see him take the spotlight again, finally), let’s not forget that this all ties back to Little Garden, the arc that properly introduced Zoro and Sanji’s rivalry by paralleling them with two rival giants who fought each other every day for over a century, but who also lost themselves in their grief when one thought the other death. The parallel isn’t even subtle, Little Garden’s biggest landmarks are the remnants of Dorry and Brogy’s dinosaur hunting competition. You know. The very same competition Zoro and Sanji posed to each other at the start of the arc?
But here’s the thing. I’m a little worried about how it’s going to be resolved. Because. Despite how readily Zoro agreed to kill Sanji if need be, he must have known that the crew would never forgive him. Zoro is Luffy’s specialest guy but Luffy would not accept any excuse as to why Sanji had to die. Nor anyone else in the crew. But. Does Sanji realize that?
Does he know that killing him would literally be the hardest thing Zoro would ever do, because it would mean literally betraying his Captain and crew? Luffy said he can’t become Pirate King without Sanji, and Zoro and Luffy swore they’d commit fucking ritualistic suicide if they got in the way of each other’s dreams, so does Sanji know where that would leave the swordsman in this case? With no Captain, no crew, and yet another dead rival and best friend (who, mind you, began to live in fear of his own biology betraying him right before dying. but the parallels between Kuina and Sanji and how they relate to Zoro could be a long ass post for another day).
I think he doesn’t know. But he can’t find out how Zoro would mourn him unless the pact actually follows through. But still, I don’t think Oda would kill Sanji, cause that’s no way to resolve this issue. So here’s my speculation about how I think it could potentially play out, following that initial line of thinking of the death pact’s resolution being set in Elbaf, specifically because of Sanji and Zoro’s parallels to Dorry and Brogy.
Like Brogy, Zoro would have to believe that he killed Sanji. That he won their final duel. He’d have to believe that Sanji has fallen and, also like Brogy, have to face that grief and hurt all alone. But in the end, like Dorry, Sanji would survive, having never actually been hurt. Because their edges have dulled after fighting for so long, no longer as capable of landing killing blows as they thought. “Not even the blades of Elbaf could endure two giants fighting for 100 years”? Something of the sort. And maybe this line of speculation is simplistic or optimistic, but the chances of it playing out like this aren’t zero, so just in case, I would want to be able to say that I called it.
#i also cant rlly see the death pact being brought up again anytime before we get to elbaf proper#and any time afterward itd just feel. out of place? like too personal a conflict to be placed into the final arc where the strawhats-#-are supposed to be at their strongest and ready for their final challenges. Infighting at that stage would feel distracting? Melodramatic?#Zoro’s also not gonna finish fighting Mihawk and then go fight Sanji like it’s items on a murder grocery list#specially because it feels weird to place his showdown with his current friend-rival AFTER fulfilling his promise to Kuina? And not before?#like idk idk Oda is very meticulous about fitting all his plotlines together I’m sure he’ll know what to do better than me#but uh. This is my pitch on how and when it could play out#one piece#my post#zosan#??? I MEAN#you cant discuss the death pact without making it a little bit zosan#idk how to tag this tho or how many people i’d like to see this. hn

I've been turning this over in my head for a while, but it feels like Mel's getting her own version of Viktor through Swain. Not purely because their both cane users that are dealing with the ableism of their respective societies. It's that just like Viktor, Swain is an ambitious and charismatic (enough anyway) man who truly believes he can bring change to his home. In that regard they are comically similar because they know that the only way they can be responsible for themselves and the destruction they know their ambition will create is by making someone else responsible for them, i.e. by killing them. Viktor has Jayce, and soon Swain will have Mel.
He is haunted by Noxus and probably identifies that belief in Mel.

There are a lot of possible keyholes for Rakha's flophouse key in the dormitory area.
However, the annoying fellow who was badgering her about the Steel Watchers is walking around, so some more exploration is in order before committing to property theft. Specifically, she's interested in the ladder that leads to the upper floor, given the note they found downstairs about it being expanded.
Rakha has had a lot of L's lately, so I'm going to go ahead and give her a W here for once and say that her skill at observation and extrapolation allows her to notice that the obvious available floor space here doesn't match what they saw on the outside. (She actually does have a +d6 to everything rn because of the Moment of Ecstasy back in the Caress.)
And from there she notices that the wardrobe has a very subtle keyhole.
The hidden room smells of blood. Immediately all of Rakha's senses are on alert. She feels herself starting to salivate, her heart rate pulsing faster.
The tables in the room are strewn with papers soaked in red.
Rakha's head aches longingly. Her fingers twitch, unconsciously mimicking the motions of cutting and ripping described in the paper.
The most interesting piece, though, is this:
The names continue, a full page of them. Rakha stares down the list, taking in each name one at a time. Stelmane. Lorgan. Dribbles.
They knew Orin and the Bhaalists were involved with Lorgan and Dribbles' death. But this shows that Stelmane's death is also connected - which makes sense, as it opened the way for Gortash's ascension. And to judge by this paper, there are many others marked for death, and their purpose is not only for the support of the Absolute plot.
The Dread Lord's Tribunal in the Temple of Bhaal.
She realizes abruptly that she is sitting down on the floor, staring at the paper and clutching at the scar on her head.
Wyll crouches next to her. "Do you remember something?" he asks softly.
She shakes her head. "No. But it's... familiar..." She swallows. And it is. Something resonates painfully about those words. The Dread Lord's Tribunal.
The smell of blood is stronger in this corner. She looks down, her eyes involuntarily focusing on the spray of blood there, parsing its meaning.
"Something was dragged," she mutters hoarsely. "Under the bed."
She shifts, running her fingers along the blood trail, following it into the shadows - and closing them around cloth.+
"Another victim?" Rakha asks. Wyll shrugs uncertainly.
The woman has another key on her body.
Rakha squints at it curiously. There were numbers carved on the chests downstairs, the ones next to each of the beds. This person was a tenant here.
-----
Back downstairs, Jaheira talks with the annoying fellow in the dormitory area to keep him distracted while Rakha loots the dead woman's chest.
All that's in it is a diary, barely used.
"Her boy." Rakha tilts her head to the side. "The one who killed her, perhaps? A Bhaalist."
Jaheira, surprisingly, has acquired a strange look on her face that Rakha doesn't know how to parse. "A child she raised, who turned on her nevertheless," she mutters. "A bitter way to die indeed."
#bjk plays bg3 durge#rakha the dark urge#eyyyy learned about the murder plot#hector (or rather i playing hector) didn't really pay much attention to this reveal the first time around#so it's fun giving it a little more focus#and yes jaheira IS thinking about Fault Lines muahaha#standard disclaimer that i'm sorry i'm so slowwww lately :(#my brain is mush#i was hoping there'd be a reason in these reveals for rakha to realize ffion worked at the caress#but nothing in any of the docs indicated her name or where she worked#MIGHT Have made the connection if she'd gone to elminsters library but she didn't#so all she gets is a weird bhaal-related headache#and a list of potentially dead people#leaving it there for tonight; this weekend we get lae'zel kidnapped and the business with wyll's pact so things will pick up :D

thought too long about Cavisuwa & Stanny's relationship in Bad End and started losing my mind because oh my god. oh my goddddd cavisuwa you cunt
this uh. this got long + death & alcohol & small snippet so i'm putting it under a cut
They're such idiots. If Stan hadn't been kidnapped then people would have listened to Tweek about Craig and if Craig hadn't been possessed then they could have gotten Stan out of the woods. Stan and Craig doomed each other, indirectly, without ever really knowing, and Stanny and Cavisuwa are gonna keep dooming each other. they don't even have any kind of relationship for the first five years of Cavi's takeover because Stanny's out in the woods with the critters. And then a piece of the resistance goes deep enough into the woods that Kyle and Stan finally reunite.
And just like that, Stanny and Cavisuwa are enemies, lightning and fire and blood every time they clash. The only one powerful enough to give the other pause. A possessed god and a feral demon attack dog. They don't hate each other, exactly, but Kyle and Cavisuwa oppose each other and even if Stanny can only remember his childhood before the woods in scattered pieces—it's Kyle. Of course Stanny's gonna claw and bite and take every inch of spite and violence he learned out in those woods and turn it against the world for Kyle's sake. They're Super Best Friends!
But Cavisuwa refuses to have his power contested and the woodland critters don't like how Stanny's starting to pull away from them in favor of Kyle and all it really takes is a few meetings. An offered human sacrifice. A few words about how really, don't you think this Kyle is such a terrible influence on your son, Deery? Don't you think the chaos I've caused would be so much better for him? You care so much about your little fawn, and now he's pulling away from you. And that's all it takes and next thing Stanny knows Kyle is dead, killed by infighting in the very resistance he believed in according to the Woodland Critters, who all crowd around and try to comfort him. And it's devastating and cruel and Kenny and Tolkien and Wendy know there's nobody in the resistance who would've wanted Kyle dead but Cavisuwa's half a world away and Kyle wasn't killed with lightning anyway. But it doesn't matter because Stanny's already retreated back into the woods and Kenny's dead in the snow from the outburst.
And it's there in those woods, far away from anything and anyone, that Cavisuwa finds Stanny, alone but for the same deer that Cavisuwa talked to so recently. They almost fight. Stanny's certainly upset enough for it. But Cavisuwa's just oh-so surprised that Kyle's not there, that Stanny's so far away from where the resistance is likely located, what happened to the loyal little guard dog that almost ripped Cavisuwa's arm off?
"He's dead." Stanny grits out. He lifts the bottle to his mouth and chases the bottom, not caring what Guinea Bastard does next.
Cavisuwa laughs, this soft thing that's so unlike the few memories of Craig Stanny still has. "Surprised it took this long." He murmurs, floating down to stand on the snow. "Humans are a plague," he hisses, "you just can't rely on them."
Stanny opens his mouth—to say what, he's not quite sure—until he realizes that they really are alone, not even the guy that Stanny's pretty sure must be Clyde anywhere in sight. He huffs. "You still keep them around." He points out, not inaccurately.
"Doesn't mean I trust them." Cavisuwa responds, sparks flickering idly in his hands. "They're only useful to a point."
Stanny falls back until he's laying in the snow, staring up at the sky. He's not sober—he hasn't been in a while. Maybe once or twice while Kyle was still alive, but—well. "Kyle's trustworthy." He defends.
"Except he's dead now." Cavisuwa states, leaning forwards to look Stanny directly in the eyes. Electric blue meets baby blue, like so many times before when they'd been trying to kill each other, grappling in the air on the ground trying to tear each other apart—there's no hostility. No flash in those eyes signalling an incoming laser, nothing but a calm contentment. "And doesn't that just tear you up?" He asks, lips pulling back to show off teeth, "That the one person who you thought would never leave got taken from you, and won't come back?" Cavisuwa's egging Stanny on, voice harsh and bright and perfect for riling Stanny up.
To the side, Deery watches. She nods, slightly, and says nothing.
"Don't you wanna make the world hurt?" Cavisuwa continues, "Don't you wanna watch it burn like it burned you?"
Stanny breathes deeply. The bottle is empty in his hands. He sits up slowly, laboriously, and the bottle refills as Deery nods her head again. Somehow, through the usual drunken haze, Stanny manages to pull together enough suspicion to ask, "What's in it for you?" Because doesn't Cavisuwa have an empire to protect? Temples he'd rather not see destroyed? Infrastructure that propagates his rule?
"There are plenty of places I'd love to see destroyed." Cavisuwa shrugs, leaning back and holding out his hand (Craig's hand, some part of Stanny's mind notes, but it's small and really kind of unimportant). "And, if I'm being honest," Cavisuwa glances away, then looks back at Stanny with a lazy grin and bright blue eyes. "I've always been a little jealous of Kyle—you and I have so much in common."
"We do?" Stanny stands, without taking Cavisuwa's offered hand, stretching his arms. His antlers are heavy on his head—but they'll be gone by the time the winter snow starts hitting in earnest. And he's lived with them for years, now, so the weight is barely a footnote as far as Stanny's concerned.
"We both may have human bodies," Cavisuwa spits the word human like a curse, "but we're not really like those pathetic little monkeys, are we?" He nods, "We're something more, you and I, and, well—can you really say you don't hate mankind for what they'd do to your family? For what they did to your best friend?"
And it's true, isn't it? Stanny thinks back to a half-remembered childhood in that hick town, to a weed farm he hated and baby cows tied to stakes and a scoutmaster who got fired for being "different". There's so many things missing, in his recollection of it all, but isn't what he can remember enough to go off of—it must be.
And it's not like Stanny's really all that human anymore, is he? If he ever was, which he doubts. He's always been a Woodland Critter, even back before he knew it. The weight of his antlers is suddenly much more prominent.
Cavisuwa's head tilts slightly, hand still outstretched. He's not really a demon, insofar as Stanny can tell, but he's got the vibe what with this whole possession thing. The cloak made of giant guinea pig fur matches the pelts Stanny learned to cover himself in, sparks of lightning in Cavisuwa's eyes not so different from the hellfire Stanny carries.
They really are kindred spirits, aren't they?
"Okay." Stanny takes Cavisuwa's hand. It feels hot and sharp, static jumping between them. It feels like a pact, an unbreakable deal. It feels like a promise and a surrender.
It feels like maybe Stanny's just found a new friend.
#south park#bad end au#cavisuwa#stan marsh#kyle and craig are mentioned and craig's technically there in body#zaz writes#they're so. oh my god. stanny allies with kyle and can stand up to cavisuwa#so cavisuwa gets deery to murder kyle and pin it on the resistance#before swooping up to take advantage of it like the manipulative bitch he is#AND!!! JUST LIKE HOW CRAIG AND STAN'S BAD ENDS CAUSED EACH OTHERS BAD ENDS#CAVISUWA USES THEM BOTH!!! CRAIG AS A WEAPON & HOST BODY STANNY AS A WEAPON!!!#tho tbf cavi uses everyone. he's a bitch like that#and then i didn't even get to it in this post but the pact cavi & stanny make really does doom them both#like. they couldn't even stay working together for five years. maybe even less#and even when they do work together after their initial blowup/breakup they are so constantly five seconds away from backstabbing each othe#and it's stanny that destroys cavisuwa!!! via exorcism!!!#which then leads to craig destroying stanny!!!! <- i need to explain this in more detail at some point#but OUGH AUGH THE WAY STANNY WAS STARTING TO RECOVER ALONGSIDE KYLE#THE WAY IF THINGS CONTINUED HE COULD HAVE BEEN A HERO#BUT THEN CAVI GETS DEERY TO KILL KYLE AND SENDS STANNY BACK ONTO AN EVEN WORSE PATH#i just. oh my god. oh my godddd this au#i wouldn't say that cavi/stanny counts as staig since craig is not a willing participant in any of this#but it's like. staig-adjacent in a fucked up kinda way#death tw#alcohol tw#(stanny is. quite predictably. an alcoholic)
