They say that the broadcast is one of Gravity Falls's greatest mysteries. That it's been around since the 80s, yet the hosts never seem to change or age. Their voices forever stuck in their radio waves.

It's this kind of mystery that called to Dipper Pines like a sailor to the sea.

He'd heard stories about it, ever since he and Mabel were old enough to hear them from their grandpa Shermie. The older man never really talked about Gravity Falls, Oregon. And whenever he did, he'd always get this far away look in his eyes. As if he was trying not to remember too much. Like the thought of Gravity Falls was too much for him to bare. And so Dipper accepted the stories he'd hear, those about the strange broadcasting system being his favorite. And he would have been content with them.

If he and Mabel didn't discover that photo album.

It'd been an accident. Finding that photo that was old with age. But once it was discovered, those old broadcasting stories became a lot more unsettling. As he and Mabel stared at the photograph, they saw the face of a younger grandpa, Shermie. Next to him were three other men, one who was tall and lanky with a nervous smile to him. And beside him were two men, one with a larger build and mullet, while the other had glasses and a trench coat. Both with identical faces. Standing in front of what looked like an old shack with a small broadcasting tower behind it.

Twins the younger Pines children realized.

And underneath the photo, in their grandpa's handwriting was written.

'1981 Gravity Falls, Oregon. My younger brothers Stanford and Stanley Pines with their friend Fiddleford Mcgucket.'

"Younger brothers?"

Mabel's voice was the one to break through their stunned stupor. Dipper could only look at his sister, awed by the revelation of apparently having two uncles they'd never heard about. As to why, neither knew. But one thing they knew was they had a mystery to solve. As they placed the album back, they couldn't help but wonder.

What happened to Stanford, Stanley, and Fiddleford?

Question - I remember earlier in the comics when they were discussing Onyxes that they had to meet a lot of strict requirements to be classified as one. How many Onyxes are there ( approx ), and how rare are they?

I figure "off color" gems may be a bit more of a last-resort classification. Onyxes are a sort of "off-color" agate/jasper/quartz, but their "offness" is still a desirable trait, so it was given its own name rather than being a reject. Not unlike real gems, where if they form in a particularly special way, and that way is still desirable, it is given its own name and category. Gems like "Padparadcha" must be so common as an off-color sapphire that they get their own name, rather than just "orange sapphire." Onyxes fall into a category like this, however; their appearance is desirable by the diamonds. Maybe due to their uniformity.

Since these traits are technically off-color but wanted, the means of getting this "rank" is very strict, since it is allowing an off-color to have more power than its basic gem. Each Quartz soldier colony has a chance of producing an Onyx, but not all of them do. A really good kindergarden may product no Onyx at all, like the Prime Kindergarten. This is fine, because the soldiers will come out strong enough to not need an Onyx to lead or boost their ability. A poorer kindergarden like the Beta Kindergarten has a higher chance to produce Onyx, as the soldiers will come out less-than-perfect, and require a rank to fill-in. It is sort of a self-correction to prevent colony collapse that the Diamonds (of this AU) implemented.

You could argue that our Jasper, perfect as she is, was SO CLOSE to being classified as an Onyx due to her uniquely special power, but since she did not meet the color or body requirements, she was merely a "really good Jasper" and not an Onyx. Had she come out with the limb-deformities and the uniform stripes with that level of power, she would have been named the Onyx of the Beta Kindergarden after approval from the Diamonds.

Even though Onyx are more common at poorer kindergardens, there is still a chance that one may show up at a good one. Those are particularly deadly gems, because their Sisters are powerful and their status as an Onyx is very rare. They may be only 1 leader commanding an army of thousands.

Tl;dr: pretty rare.

Gods, they would be so devastated..

I must keep this to myself, it would be only fair wouldn't it? No one will get hurt if I keep quiet for now, after all.

I'm guilty of not reaching them in time, and this is my price to pay.

I wanted to ask if there any way I can find lore more quickly or do I have to keep scrolling until I find it?

So, In the beginning, before the whole events of the game and Paradise was even really populated, there was two beings that roamed the Isles; The embodiments of Purity and Corruption.

Or better known as the Tree and Silly String.

While Silly String sought to explore the further reaches of the world, the Tree craved something more stable.

So they fell asleep, entering a coma-like state as their roots took hold into the dirt below.

Fearing for what this meant, or worse, if he too will become some inanimate monument- Silly string vows to not let the same fate befall him. And to free his companion from it.

But he tried everything to wake Tree up. Shaking, thunderstorms, biting, tearing.

It eventually devolved into acts of chaos onto the land rather than good intentioned desperation.

But Don't worry, the Sun took care of it. Even if the consequences of doing so forced him into isolation.

But with the Tree fulfilling Tree status and Silly no longer being a threat, they left four Heros to fend for themselves.

Paradise becomes more Populated, and then the normal events of the game take place with. Little to no deviations besides every time Blixer powers up, he's split mentally between phases.

By the end of the events of the game, Square is the only one left alive, which still traumatizes it to this day.

This is a Ship that we called "DarkEye". Which is a Ship of Candy Eye Cookie and Dark Cacao Cookie. A ship that neither of us was originally expecting would actually work. But here we are. Originally it wasn't even going to be a ship, but the chemistry worked out so well in our Dms that we said "Fuck it we ball".

More Mystery Podcast Trio Au present time (2012)-

Dipper Pines: A young boy who's heard of the Mystery Podcast Trio broadcasting. His grandfather Shermie Pines regales tales and stories about this infamous broadcast that occurs in Gravity Falls. Dipper adores these stories and legends more than anyone. And in fact wants to one day explore more about them. However, there seems to be more than his grandfather let's on.

Mabel Pines: A young girl who's also heard the tales of the mysterious broadcast. However, unlike her twin, who's all about the mystery behind the Mystery Podcast Trio, she's not quite as invested. But make no mistake that she too isn't curious about this weird radio station. Especially when her and Dipper find a mysterious photograph in their grandfather's attic.....

Sherman (Shermie) Pines: An old man who's the grandfather of Dipper and Mabel. Shermie is a mischievous, friendly man full of spooky tales and stories of the small hick town known as Gravity Falls. But there's more to this friendly, dotting grandpa than meets the eye. Whether he's willing to share or not, will only be revealed in time.
