We're in the sky || Remus lupin x reader Pt. 1
Summary- you meet the new DADA teacher..
Warnings- none
It was breezy spring day, you're the astronomy teacher in Hogwarts. you've been working there for 6 years now, it was the most wonderful place to work, you were also head of the ravenclaw house and had been for two years now.
------
You're sitting at the great hall in between Hagrid and Minerva. Dumbledore steps up to the pedestal. He drones on for a bit with his nonsense, talking about the dementors, extra safety precautions and the new defense against the dark arts teacher, you eat your food, casually talking to Minerva about the dementors.
"they won't effect anything will they?" You ask while taking a sip of your drink.
"no no, Dumbledore would have the ministries head if they did" she says.
"they're scary creatures" you say, trying to keep the conversation going.
"real nasty things" you hear a voice you had never heard before behind you, you turn your head to see the new teacher standing behind you. "Sorry for interrupting" he passes by and walks over to Dumbledore.
"odd" you mumble.
------
The next day while all the kids were out in hogsmade you went on a little walk on the bridge, you were looking down at your book so you didn't notice when there was a man in front of you who was looking off in the distance, you walk right into him, the smell of old books filling your nose.
"I'm so sorry!!" You start, then you look up and it's the new teacher, professor Lupin.
"oh, no it's alright" he reaches his hand out and you take it, letting him help you up. "May help to watch your surroundings when you walk though, darling" he smiles.
"sorry, I was distracted" you apologize again, looking up at him.
"no need to apologize" he reassures, his voice soothing your nerves. You close your book and put it in your messenger bag. "A beautiful view huh?" He muses, looking out at the view of the water.
"yeah, it's very peaceful" you reply softly.
"what's your name darling? I don't think we've properly met." He smiles a little
"Y/n, I teach astronomy" you smile
"that subject always had fascinated me you know" he says, still looking at the view.
"The solar system is quite beautiful" you agree
You both stand there in silence for a little while, just basking in the breeze, the sun and each other's presence.
A/N: sorry this part is short, pt. 2 will be longer, I promise, I'll work on it when I can<3

#poorly drawn mdzs#mdzs#jin guangyao#wei wuxian#jiang cheng#I absolutely love the contrast between JGY and JGS in this scene.#While JGS is acting as an instagator and trying to fan the flames of discontent (pulling his devious (g) strings)#JGY tries to keep a fairly neutral stance. If anything he reads like someone who's attempting to chair an unruly group project.#Honestly I think this scene does so much to show us why JGY manages to become the respectable leader he does in the future.#He's actully good at leading discussions and doesn't rise to bait. He's trying to start a productive discussion with *real facts*.#There is genuine honour in his approach and he never jumps into the emotional bandwagon.#The issue at the moment is that he doesn't have same level of authority as the contrastively *worst* sect leader does.#Jin Guangshan has a very specific agenda - to gain power by throwing anyone he deems expendable into the gutter.#The story even explicitly calls him out on not being so different from Wen Rohan multiple times.#The insidious part is that he's surrounded by people who think this is all justified.#It's all about using the 'victim' narrative to leverage justification. Which I'll get into more in upcoming comics.#(cut off text in panel one is supposed to be 'dead girls walking' but I ran out of room to make that clear. whoops!)

I'm sorry but the irony of Nico calling Max unprofessional is sending me so bad like sir there's an entire garage full of people, who were literally in the trenches trying to survive the Brocedes fallout while just doing their jobs, who might have a few things to say about your (& Lewis') level of professionalism at that time 😭✋️
#f1#formula 1#formula one#max verstappen#nico rosberg#lewis hamilton#brocedes#like niki lauda had to try multiple times to literally parent trap them to try and get them on speaking terms it never worked#because one would arrive they'd see the other and the other would leave#& if i remember correctly the garage crew would swap around from race to race as a like see we aren't favouring anybody gesture 😭#and thats no shade to nico because it was both of them contributing to that environment#his comment re max is just making me laugh#like if i was a part of the pr/media team - which is a part of the degree I'm working on irl - at merc that year i would've lost the plot#like its insane reflecting on it nearly a decade later but the poor souls just trying to do their job in the eye of that storm#truly gods strongest soldiers#ngl the professional comment irks me a bit because its not like max is engaging in inappropriate work place behaviour#he's engaging in another aspect of racing that his involvement raises awareness of & that makes racing more accessible#& we all know how inaccessible not only getting into racing is but also to continue to pursue the further along you go#theres so many stories of 1 sibling giving up racing so the other can keep going because the family can't afford for them both to race#its a huge financial strain & we only see a handful of drivers talk about that & try to do something to change it#and nicos fellow sky sports commentators are routinely unprofessional on so many levels#additionally max had a lot of valid reasons to be annoyed at his team today#but alas he's not english so he's ungrateful#i hate that drivers can't criticise their teams or car without immediately being branded as bratty & ungrateful#ESPECIALLY WHEN THEIR JOB IS TO GIVE FEEDBACK#you can see the double standards from sky when say Lando or George have complaints with their team/car v the likes of Max and Yuki#especially Yuki my god the things i would do to get the British media to leave him alone#this was a jokey post at one point and then became a rant whoops lmao#I'll leave it that before i write an actual essay here 😭✋️

When I say Tyland Lannister is my favorite character...
I am being 100% dead serious. Here is why I prefer this seemingly average nobleman over the many many many fan favorites in Fire and Blood.
Tyland Lannister is a second son in a story about second sons. Whether his feelings on this are as strong as Aemond's or Daemon's, we never know for sure in the books, but it's obvious that he's subservient to a mirror image of himself who only has more authority because of a few seconds separation between twins. It's a great display of both the arbitrariness and rigidity of succession.
His initial role in the Dance is as the master of coin for the greens. He's depicted as a typical Lannister: charming, comely, and cunning. He did what any savvy accountant would do and divided the crown's treasury amongst different allied regions for safe-keeping, ensuring that if King's Landing were sacked, their enemies wouldn't loot their coffers dry and they'd still have plenty of gold for their war efforts.
And of course, King's Landing gets sacked. Tyland is put in the black cells and ordered to be tortured by Rhaenyra to extract the gold's whereabouts. Winter is coming, people are starving and rioting, her army is dwindling, so she desperately needs that gold. Tyland is gelded, maimed, disfigured, and blinded but the torturers get nothing out of him.
Mind you, this man has been a rich, pampered bureaucrat all his life and he endured all that without breaking. When Aegon II releases Tyland from those cells, he has no fingernails, his eyes have been gouged out and/or sewn shut, this man who was once known for his good looks doesn't look human anymore — but he still manages to maintain his wits so much so that he plays an important role after the Dance.
Even with Rhaenyra dead, there are still armies raising their banners for her eldest surviving son, Aegon Trois. Tyland tells Adult Aegon to kill Child Aegon because obviously, the latter threatens the former's claim and Tyland's understandably angry over what his mom did. Aegon Dos is like, nah, I'll keep the boy hostage instead — that'll keep the armies at bay more than outright killing him.
So Tyland volunteers to go to Myr to hire sellswords for Aegon 2 since their armies are pretty much kaput after six years of this civil war. Tyland is blind at this point I remind you — there is a huge chance this man will never get to go home again. But he does it anyway, because even after years of fighting, he keeps his unwavering loyalty to the monarch he declared for.
Aegon II dies while Tyland is in Myr, and Tyland goes back to Westeros just in time to see Cregan Stark use his powers as the new Hand to marry Aegon III and Princess Jaehaera to unite the green and black sides. Cregan dusts off his hands, says my work here is done, warns the boy king not to trust anyone, then leaves for the North for everyone else to sort this mess out.
Now comes the part where Tyland shines as a character. He becomes the Hand of Aegon III and when you see his policies detailed in the book, it's clear that his goal is focused on repairs and renumerations. After what happened to him, he has every right to be spiteful and bitter against the blacks, but instead he "claimed a curious failure of memory, insisting that he could not recall who had been black and who had been green." He abolished the heavy taxes imposed on the smallfolk, sent out gold to lords whose holdings had been devastated during war, and set out to rebuild the Realm's granaries and fleet. Cleaning up is a tedious, unglamorous job — and because of his monstrous appearance and former allegiances, Tyland was looked upon with distrust.
And yet, while other regents grasped for power and tried taking advantage of the 13-year-old King Aegon III, Tyland seemed to be different. If he wanted power he could have married his twin brother's widow and convinced the boy-king to route more resources towards Casterly Rock and the Westerlands. But he didn't.
Instead, he genuinely seemed to be a father figure to Aegon III.
Tyland Lannister, blind and crippled, had always treated the king with deference, speaking to him gently, seeking to guide rather than command.
And for that, many lords saw him as a weak Hand. But Aegon, who cared for very little and never laughed and was always sullen, seemed to care for Tyland.
When the plague ravaged King's Landing, Tyland dutifully prioritized it over quashing the Ironborn raids at Lannisport. He was the last person to become afflicted with the Winter Fever, and the king sat by his Hand's side during his final hours. When the council starts discussing who should be the new Hand, Aegon (the boy who rarely ever speaks) says:
I would have Lord Rowan as my Hand. Ser Tyland thought well enough of him to offer him my sister’s hand in marriage, so I know he can be trusted.
This boy trusted Tyland, the man who only years ago wanted him dead.
So it's easy to imagine that this man saw Aegon III as the boy he was responsible for, as the son he could never have because of what the war had done to him. Tyland Lannister was a broken man who despite losing everything, his king and his brother and himself, kept a broken Realm and broken boy together when everyone else swarmed like vultures just trying to pick at carcasses.
What motivated this man's loyalty for a boy whose mother mutilated him? Did he regret pushing for the death of an innocent child and this was his penance? Did this man who gave everything for his cause think that this boy was something that could still give all that sacrifice and tragedy meaning? Was the mercy and kindness he afforded an apology for the horrifying trauma that scarred this boy — did he feel responsible for his mother's downfall and the failure to save his uncle? Did his disfigurement and blindness allow him to let go of the man he once was and become someone capable of seeing the folly of pride and power?
Here is his obituary in Fire and Blood:
Ser Tyland Lannister had never been beloved. After the death of Queen Rhaenyra, he had urged Aegon II to put her son Aegon to death as well, and certain blacks hated him for that. Yet after the death of Aegon II, he had remained to serve Aegon III, and certain greens hated him for that. Coming second from his mother’s womb, a few heartbeats after his twin brother, Jason, had denied him the glory of lordship and the gold of Casterly Rock, leaving him to make his own place in the world. Ser Tyland never married nor fathered children, so there were few to mourn him when he was carried off. The veil he wore to conceal his disfigured face gave rise to the tale that the visage underneath was monstrous and evil. Some called him craven for keeping Westeros out of the Daughters’ War and doing so little to curb the Greyjoys in the west. By moving three-quarters of the Crown’s gold from King’s Landing whilst Aegon II’s master of coin, Tyland Lannister had sown the seeds of Queen Rhaenyra’s downfall, a stroke of cunning that would in the end cost him his eyes, ears, and health, and cost the queen her throne and her very life. Yet it must be said that he served Rhaenyra’s son well and faithfully as Hand.
Tyland wasn't extraordinarily badass, noble, or even skilled. He was an excellent politician but no way the best. But I think that's what makes him compelling to me — that he's this down-to-earth depiction of a POW, a war veteran by all accounts, trying to pick up the pieces and slowly glue what remains of the Realm and himself back into something vaguely human.
We tell so many stories about the glory, the tragedy, and the losses of war. But I think it's important and beautiful to tell stories of those bravely and optimistically choosing to keep living in the aftermath as well.
#house of the dragon#hotd#a song of ice and fire#long post#hotd spoilers#hotd meta#I'm a sucker for redemption/second chance stories#your life has been reduced to ashes and you are the shell of the man you once were#but goddamn you will try to do something good with all that remains of you#you can still make good#tyland lannister#there's an argument to be made that rhaenyra could have won the war if it weren't for tyland#I wish Tyland was a popular character but that won't happen unless he becomes part of a popular ship#Cregan is also interesting handsome and nuanced but he gets more love because he has multiple ship options#Tyland could possibly have romantic chemistry with Aegon II or Rhaenyra that would be cool

Nobody Wants to Die 2024
#wrapped it up#it was an interesting experience#if all the cliches#if they're fun that's not bad per se#it lost cohesion after the first half#then it picked back up towards the end#hated some parts but loved the environments#story left me with so many questions#many world building technicalities left unadressed#like what even are the actual logistics of the Thing#but then there's multiple endings I guess so maybe a replay in time?#I'm not sure if it's a rec at this point#anyway it was an Experience#nobody wants to die#indiedev#critical hit games

I'm loving your oc stuff too!!! Do you think we could get some (non spoilery) info about them?
Sure :] Cameron (right) is a barista living in her hometown with her younger sister she and is not thrilled about any of these things. Ari (left) writes articles about paranormal/hokey true crime stuff for a buzzfeed-knockoff type of website after quitting her phd. Theyre both mid-20s and also both gay but Cameron is very closeted
Ari's phd program was in vertebrate evolution, specifically feline phylogenetics, which segues into my worldbuilding that I've also wanted to talk about lol. All the characters in this world are based on cats from subfamily Felinae – basically all small wildcats combined into one sapient species instead of humans. The characters I've designed so far are inspired by specific cats (Cameron is based on a serval and Ari on a pampas cat) but I'm not trying to stick too closely to that since they're all meant to be the same species from a worldbuilding perspective. No domestic cats (furry or animal) but regular big cats are still a thing, basically akin to great apes vs humans. Anthropomorphic cougars and cheetahs are a thing but are extinct, like extinct hominids. Basically my effort to shove cats into a human evolution parallel lol
#this sounds boring but just know that I am withholding kind of the most important part and premise of the story LOL#the worldbuilding aspect is plot relevant also at least from a conceptual perspective#ask#aerielart#oc: ari#oc: cameron#from a technical perspective pulling designs from multiple cat species helps with more design variation#which I liken to how humans are extremely phenotypically diverse esp with a relative lack of genetic diversity compared to other species

Commenting on the fact that Nathaniel had added a significant role for Mrs. Underwood in his fake version of the story, Bartimaeus said something like, I hope this has lessened your inner guilt and grief, and then added that he, of course, knew nothing about it.
The most ironic thing? He DOES know, and he literally does the same thing - he selects for us, the readers, only the best moments and facts from Ptolemy's life to give us the same hope for the world of his dreams, to make him the same sacred figure he sees.
Nathaniel knew very well that the most Mrs. Underwood did was to make tea and biscuits and then die. Bartimaeus knows that Ptolemy was a human being, with his own strengths and weaknesses. But when they have to tell their stories to the public, they deliberately put the people they love in the best possible light, so that others can see, hear, and feel what they loved and cherish about them.
And then Bartimaeus says he knows nothing about it. Liar.
#that's why I LOVE unreliable narrators and I LOVE the way Bart presents as himself as someone who's hardly understands human grief#he doesn't want to align himself with their nature and yet he still DOES sometimes because grief IS a thing#it is a thing for anyone who has ever felt loss human and jinni alike#but that would set him apart from other spirits in the biggest part because of the “no friends with human AND other spirits” rule he lists#AND breaks on multiple occasions#which is not something usual to do for spirits (at least he firmly believes so) and yet that's what he did and that's what he feels#and he has no choice but project some human coping mechanisms onto himself#even shrugging and looking at his nails OR painting the beloved one in more positive significant light#he griefs very differently AND he griefs just the same#bet he understands what Nat went through better that any other spirit would — simply because pain is the same#time is different species are different reasons are different stories are different but intial pain is the same#grief is something they both have never been to ran away from#Bart might feel it sharper it might just not go away for him because again the perception of time is different but for God he understands i#more that anyone would#so like. liar#bartimaeus#nad rereads bartimaeus#bartimaeus sequence#bartimaeustrilogy#bartseq

stg, being an enjoyer of jane twdg is like being forced into an expert-level course on the way misogyny manifests in video game spaces.
god forbid a woman be complex or difficult or provably mischaracterized (see tags) at the end of her arc to service the culmination of a man’s storyline.
#“kenny was harrowed by loss in his family” so was jane. that is part of them literally being foils.#“kenny teaches clem more!” literally untrue a lot of clem’s combat style is rooted in what jane taught her (targeting the knees & basically#everything clem knows about knife combat- jane is also mirrored with lee in this sense as like was previously stated knife combat later goe#on to become a major element of how clem fights only outweighed by her use of firearms)#she teaches clem the gut trick & we see the innovative thinking that comes with being more independent & proactive influence the way clem#handles sticky situations & deals with feeling disempowered. like this is going to sound odd but the fact that her behaviour mirrors jane#at her best (even though her relationship with aj is more maternal the way she approaches him much more as an equal & capable of holding#agency over his own life is much more reminiscent of the way she was treated by jane & luke positively + the rest of the adults negatively#than how kenny or even lee treated clem [though lee did start to view her this way after the train] + her people reading skill.) & at her#worst (isolating herself + becoming cold + the fact she is [based on player choice] willing to leave aj behind for both their survival +#struggling with her need for community vs her sense of distrust in their lasting stability + her tendency to be unfeelingly pragmatic to a#fault except when it comes to aj + the fact that clem- at her worst is self-serving & somewhat uncaring in comparison to kenny’s possessive#hot-headedness etc) indicates that on some level- regardless of a player’s second season ending- clem considered jane to be a better#behavioural role model- this isn’t to say kenny was unimpactful but rather that his impact was different- where behaviourally we see elemen#of lee luke jane & even carver in clem’s later behaviour kenny’s impact is more so that of a cautionary tale- somebody clem cared for who#she witnessed lose himself entirely to his worst character flaws due to an inability to cope with the world she now lives in- something he#even admits to her in multiple endings iirc. kenny becomes the fate clem must strive against at all costs.#similar can be said of the ending where you go with jane regarding how it analogies clem’s fears & low self worth as a result of being#unable to maintain what she had with aj (in a manner that mirrors jane’s story in that she’s choosing to leave behind a living relative due#to no longer being able to be what they need- again depending on player choice*)#*my exact memory of the third season is hazier tbh. iirc it is dependent on player choice whether she is complacent with the decision to#make her leave the new frontier.#like the way the ending was handled was sloppy & jane was mischaracterized as a result of being shoved into a conflict that we know for#certain was not intended to go to her. calm down & just enjoy your man without being weird & misogynistic dear god.)#(also if you like clem & jane you will like holly robinson & selina kyle dc)#twdg jane#jane twdg#twdg

Listen I know further installments in the series is not a given for funding reasons, but it’s extremely wild how it’s very very obvious that they are fully intending to continue the series if they are able to but people are acting with complete confidence like this was meant to be a conclusion and therefore it’s bad that not every piece of the lore has been explored and not every loose end has been tied up
This game is a conclusion to the evanuris arc only. It’s not meant to be a conclusion to the series. There’s gaps in lore still because they’ve deliberately left unanswered questions to be explored in the future works they want to make
Real “quit telling everyone I’m dead” “sometimes I still hear his voice” moment
#also while I’d like another game#I feel like even if we don’t get one there’s still potential for those loose ends to be wrapped up in books/novels since they’re already#a part of the series#not what I’d prefer but I’m not particularly worried about the story as a whole not getting a proper conclusion#because it’s much easier to fund like. a trilogy of novels to wrap things up than multiple games#I am NOT manifesting that. but I can see it as a backup plan.

Thinking about the possible implication that Beedle is an immortal and/or multiversal being
#beedle#the legend of zelda#loz#tloz#he's the same guy in multiple different games and parts of the timeline/timelines#Like Anna from Fire Emblem but instead of identical sisters across the realms he's just one guy#maybe there's some detail I'm missing aside from “re-used reoccurring character for stories” that implies otherwise#but seeing it this way is funny to me#my post

The eggs absence has opened up some space to focus on other aspects of the story. It’s good for the narrative and world building to expand and tell the story through other avenues.
The admins aren’t REPLACING the eggs. They’re getting creative and giving the egg admins a break that is probably much needed after months of daily work. This is GOOD for the qsmp.
#qsmp#like I don’t really understand why every time they start something everyone complains that it’s not the eggs#like yea no duh#but the qsmp isn’t about eggs#the eggs are part of the story but they aren’t the entire story#also editing to add that this post isn’t about something specific#I’ve just seen the sentiment be expressed multiple times after their absence#a good example is the reaction to the minimes

I was talking to my friend who is very adamant about not watching arcane, but does enjoy listening to me rant about it. They told me Jinx was right not to show up at Sevika's rally. They pointed out it's kind of illogical for Piltover's Most Wanted to go to a large rally in the middle of the day in a public square and not expect to be arrested, and the crowd should have been too.
I couldn't really argue woth that because... yh upon retrospect, that plan was obviously going to fail. Why hold it in the middle of the day? Why out in public next to a popular statue where enforcers would inevitably be doing patrols, because Zaun's under occupation?
Practically every person in that crowd was on the wrong side of the law and nobody expected things to go wrong? The only one at that rally who knew they'd be arrested was Singed, who's also one of the two people who technically brought a weapon?
#arcane#arcane ramble#sevika#jinx arcane#that really was poor planning on Sevika's part i guess#why not have people meet at a more clandestine location at noght#obviously jinx didn't go cuz she didn't want to but it's weird that neither she nor sevika who have criminal backgrounds realized how#how unnecessarily risky the plan was#in fact everyone in that criwd knew how enforcers operated by then (the jinxers had clearly been arrested multiple times)#no one came with anything to defend themselves just in case?#the only person who knew they'd be arrested was singed... think about that#and he's the only one that technically came with a weapon#I'm chalking this all up to the plot just happening to happen to make warwick happen so zaunites can't really logic for now#even in an arc about zaun the zaunites are more passangers in their own story with only superficial agency

I cannot imagine being a Damian stan right now. You've got both Zdarsky's bullshit (where he clearly doesn't give a shit about your boy) and The Boy Wonder (where Juni Ba clearly gives so many shits about your boy) coming out on the same day. The whiplash must be insane. I hope y'all get some nice warm soup for your efforts jfc
#damian wayne#damian al ghul#damian al ghul wayne#batman#batfamily#for all of the issues that come with having Steph as your fave having too much wild shit happening at once is never one of them#btw I quite like The Boy Wonder Issue 1. wow shocker an artist and writer who I have liked everything they've ever done#has once again written something that I am enjoying with art that makes me want to be part of its world.#it's almost like Juni Ba is really freaking talented or something#like I have some problems with it but it seems like many of those are part of the point. Damian is learning that his siblings are more#three-dimensional than he realized and that is part of this 'coming of age' story merged with fairytale#so I can't be mad at the oversimplistic defining of Dick and Jason and Tim until the conclusion of the series. that might be the point.#I hope that the series will address Steph as a Robin but if not then frankly it's not an issue unique to this series.#I'll be annoyed and disappointed but ultimately roll with it like I am with Babsgirl being here. There's too much good stuff here to get#hung up on shit that seems to be almost an editorial mandate at this point. at least that's where I'm at.#I am also very sorry that Chip Zdarsky is massacring your boy. he has 'X (Tim for him) is the best Robin so everyone else must suck' diseas#where a writer really likes one specific Robin and in trying to uplift them demeans all of the other Robins. instead of like...just writing#for that one character only or alternatively not demeaning the other characters in order to make his blorbo look good#it's wild because I actually think his writing for Tim is pretty solid. but he's not writing a Tim series. he's writing a Batman series.#and if you are going to write a Batman series and include other Batfamily members you need to actually write them well.#instead of assigning them like 2 personality traits while Tim gets to be a whole character#I accept that behavior in fanfic where I have lesser standards because it's fucking free. not a comic run that wants me to pay#tens of dollars in order to understand what the fuck is going on. he's been going for a while now it's gotta be a lot of money.#I can buy Steelworks with that money. I can see John Henry and Natasha Irons in a trade. Fuck you Chip.#it's why it takes such a special person to write a good ensemble story/a good Batfamily story. you have to be good at writing a LOT#of different characters. which I don't think most people are. I sure as hell am not. I can write maybe 3 at a time confidently well.#and you also have to give all of them at least SOME love or else people will be upset that you aren't focusing on their fave#and also the writing as a whole will suffer. Chip Zdarsky is a pretty good Tim writer. I'd maybe read a Tim solo written by him.#I would not read a story focusing on multiple characters that I like written by Chip Zdarsky. because every character who isn't Tim#is at least a bit weak/inconsistent/out of character INCLUDING FUCKING BATMAN. THE NO. 1 GUY MOST ARE HERE FOR
