Heard this song for the first time today and my mind is trying to make the Square Peg of Mr.Kuwenma fit into the Round Hole of this song and in order to do so I'd have to edit the lyrics slightly.
But like. Idk I've got brainworms.
TO BE CLEAR : IN MY AU KOENMA IS AN ADULT AND WAS TURNED INTO A TODDLER PRE-CANON AS PUNISHMENT BECAUSE HIS DAD CANONICALLY SUCKS
youtube
Ok Headcanon forming and incoming will edit as I get more.
Ok so Lyric edits:
I didn't think you'd understand me How could you ever even try?
I don't want to tiptoe But I don't wanna hide But I don't wanna feel this monstrous fire
Just want to let this story die And I'll be alright
We can't be friends But I'd like to Just pretend
I cling to my papers and pens Wait until you like me again
Wait for your love My love I'll wait for your love
Me and my truth we sit in silence
Baby Girl it's just me and you (Botan is baby girl lmao)
Cause I don't wanna argue But I don't wanna bite My tongue yeah I think I'd rather  die
You got me misunderstood But at least I look this good
We can't be friends But I'd like to Just pretend
I cling to my papers and pens Wait until you like me again
Wait for your love My love I'll wait for your love
I'll wait for your love My love I'll wait for your love
I know that you made me I don't like how you paint me Yet I'm still here hanging
Not what you made me Something like a daydream But I feel so seen in the night
So for now it's only me And maybe that's all I need
We can't be friends But I'd like to Just pretend
I cling to my papers and pens Wait until you like me again
Wait for your love My love I'll wait for your love
I'll wait for your love My love I'll wait for your love
I'll wait for your love I'll wait for your love I'll wait for your love I'll wait for your love I'll wait for your love

the way we know nothing about kuwabara's dad. the way he doesn't show up at all until the epilogue chapters. why is he not portrayed as someone who kazu and shizu wouldn't care about like yusuke's dad. they're like. the same to me. neither show up even until the end except atsuko tells yusuke's dad that he wouldn't be welcome while that same logic isn't applied to Mr. Kuwabara and i have no idea why
so in chapter 170 he comes outta nowhere and starts talking about the stuff that's gone on so far and kazuma is like "who tf told you" which means they don't talk to him. we don't even SEE shizuru interact with the guy. the only ref to her he makes is talking about her accepting yukina into their household.
he gives off the vibes of an estranged older family member like an uncle that you never see but it's bad because he's their DAD. they don't even mention the kuwabara siblings having a mom and no other guardian is mentioned so that means their dad was the only one but we NEVER SEE HIM TIL NOW. where the hell was he while all this shit was going down?? obviously he heard about it so why didn't he come check on them earlier? maybe it's just a plot hole but honestly i just think he sucks so bad lmao
the fact that he came back randomly without saying anything and made it clear that he heard about all the world changing things going on and maybe even heard about what his son's been getting into and this is the first time we're seeing his face. Shizuru has been taking care of her brother all this time and they both went to the demon world for the dark tournament that kazu participated in at FOURTEEN. he almost died several times before and after this and no father in sight for either of them. idk man just something about it

Am I the only Yu Yu Hakusho fan that loves Mr. Takenaka?
If you all don’t remember him, he’s the principle of Yusuke’s Junior High
Tumblr media
And frankly….he’s up there with JIN in my TOP FAVORITE side characters!!
Like he was probably the ONLY teacher that didn’t treat Yusuke like shit, called out Mr. Iwamoto and Akashi for being pieces of shit and stood up for Kuwabara and his friends:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And honestly I wish once Yusuke returned to Human World after the Three Kings Arc; imagine Takanaka seeing the man Yusuke becomes at the end of the series!
Tumblr media
And it would have brought Takanaka’s words about Yusuke making something of his life to full circle!

Yu Yu Hakusho "Attention" Sticker Collection
The Yoshihiro Togashi Exhibition - Puzzle ended in Osaka last Sunday, September 3rd 2023, and now it is heading to Fukuoka, from November 18 to January 14, 2024.
New Fukuoka Venue goods (Yu Yu Hakusho, Level E and HxH) have been introduced on the Official Site, including this beautiful collection of fifteen Yu Yu Hakusho Stickers.
Price: 550 yen each (random) / 8,250 yen (BOX with 15 types)
They are called "Attention" Stickers, because each sticker comes with a scene from the manga filled with seriousness, humor, or emotions! Let's check each one of them:
1 - Yusuke Urameshi
"Attention to the Straight Right" (右ストレート注意)
It's a famous scene from the Black Chapter Arc (Yusuke VS Murota), where Yusuke thinks: "I'll throw a straight right jab at him" (chapter 120).
Tumblr media
2 - Kazuma Kuwabara
"One-sided Love" (愛の一方通行)
Scenes of Kuwabara from the Dark Tournament (chapter 75): Kuwabara defeats Rishou right after seeing Yukina in the crowd; and Kuwabara having his wounds treated by her. Poor Kuwabara, is it really an unrequited love? :P
Tumblr media
3 - Hiei
"Cooking" (料理中)
It's a cute illustration from the opening of Chapter 172 (SPECIAL DAY). In this chapter, Hiei gives Mukuro a birthday gift. So cute Hiei cooking his friends with his own fire. ^^
Tumblr media
4 - Hiei
"Attention to Forgetfulness" (もの忘れ注意)
Hiei's famous scene and line from the fight with Bui: "I can't go back anymore, I forgot how to wrap it back up." (Chapter 98)
Tumblr media
5 - Kurama
"Warning" (警告中)
That's a famous scene from the confrontation with Kaito (chapter 115). After taking the souls of Hiei, Kuwabara, and Botan, Kurama was really mad at his high school colleague, warning him: "I will kill you by any means necessary."
Tumblr media
6 - Koenma
"Ready to Escape" (脱出準備完了)
Hahaha, it's Koenma and the famous "Escape Rocket" he wore during the Dark Tournament Finals.
Tumblr media
7 - Genkai
"Liar Alert" (うそつき注意)
That's when Genkai lied to Yusuke XD
In order to pass Yusuke her Spirit Wave Orb, Genkai tells Yusuke his final test is to kill her. Yusuke thinks about it, but eventually says he can't do it. She tells him that was the first part of the test and that she would not give her power to someone who would kill her. Goofy Genkai is hilarious :P
Yusuke is so pissed at her that he says he's ready to do anything. Genkai then changes to a serious tone: "Don't forget what you just said".
Tumblr media
8 - Puu
"Watch Your Head" (頭上注意)
Puu just being Puu, flying over and landing on Yusuke's head. Puusuke is too cute.
Tumblr media
9 - Younger Toguro
"Danger! 100% out of 100%" (危険!100%中の100%)
A very famous scene from chapter 110, when Younger Toguro displays his "Full Power: 100% of 100%!!!".
Tumblr media
10 - Yusuke & Koenma & Hiei
"The Moment of Choice" (選択の刻)
This is one is of my favorites scenes. It's from chapter 174 (Do or Die), the last mission of Yusuke and the guys. Regardless of which button Yusuke chooses to press, Genkai (Puu) stays by Yusuke's side. But, the cutest moment is that we can also spot Hiei and Koenma behind a wall, supporting Yusuke's decision. They would have died along with him if necessary.
Tumblr media
11 - Shinobu Sensui
"Laughing Hysterically" (爆笑中)
A scene from Chapter 143 (The Ultimate Aura), when Sensui finally shows his main personality "Shinobu" and the Sacred Energy (seikouki). That hysterical laugh is scary.
Tumblr media
12 - Kuwabara & Yusuke & Hiei & Kurama
"Feeling Nagomi" (和み中)
The Japanese word Nagomi (和み), reflects the state of being comforted and relaxed in a harmonious way. This scene from chapter 149 of the guys laughing in a very chilled out state is one of my favorites from the entire series. Yusuke was not only alive, but was reborn as a youkai, descendant of the mazoku!
Tumblr media
13 - Keiko & Yusuke
"Proposing" (プロポーズ中)
A scene with the famous Yusuke's line "Let's get married" (chapter 157).
Yusuke promised Keiko to return from the Demon World in 3 years, then they would get married. According to Mr. Yukimura, Yusuke would say such a thing every time he had a quarrel with Keiko. I wonder if he was serious this time XD. Anyway, he ended up returning in a year and a half. But, I believe that by the end of the manga when Keiko was finishing high school, or a little later, they would marry eventually.
Tumblr media
14 - Kurama & Karasu
"Counseling" (カウンセリング中)
One of the sexiest moments of the series is Karasu trying to give Kurama a hair treatment XD. "Are you treating your hair?" (chapter 89).
Tumblr media
15 - Sakyo & Younger Toguro
"Alcohol is not good" (アルコールNG)
The scene where Sakyo proposes a drink to Toguro, but he refuses: "I don't drink alcohol, orange juice if you please." (chapter 93)
Kanpai 🥂

I've spent all day imagining an au with Shizutan and Kuwahi to Shooting Star by the Bag Raiders.
I have a comic and an amv in my head.
youtube
General context for headcanon:
Most of it is on the Shizutan side if things and the most significant bits are pre-series.
The Shizutan is pretty fleshed out in my mind (as far as my typical headcanons go) and involves past family involvement with yakuza, spirit world sdf, demon world cartels, and the ever continuing theme of rivals you didn't know you were in love with dying unexpectedly young.
Sakyo is trans and has history with Shizuru and Botan in school and eventually the yakuza. Shizuru/Sakyo was definitely still a thing during the Dark Tournament and is Even More Tragic Now.
Botan and Shizuru and Sakyo were classmates and punks and were on a fast track for yakuza life especially since Shizurus father was already involved in the yakuza and (unknown to Botan and Sakyo) spirit and demon world affairs.
Botan's(former name Misora- Sora for short with loved ones) mom was similar to Yusuke's and Sakyo had a single father that had a penchant for beating him.
OK so here's the headcanon Background:
Shizuru and Sora/Botan were childhood friends via family yakuza connections often playing and babysitting Kazuma together but when Sakyo moves to the area from Tokyo in their last year of elementary school Shizuru develops a massive crush on him. Sora/Botan is, of course, upset because she loved Shizuru and was already in her life first. (What Shizuru didn't realize yet was that she loved Sora/Botan too. And she doesn't think Sora/Botan's feelings are genuine. She thinks Sora/Botan's affections and hurt are friendly/familial instead of romantic.)
As they go through middle school and their friendship deteriorates they start gangs of their own and Shizuru and Sora/Botan are always duking it out over some stupid bullshit argument. Sakyo seems detached but sees how much they actually love each other and can't find any reason to choose either over the other. They both have their good points.
Of the two of them only Shizuru seems interested in him but Sora/Botan gets very pretty in middleschool and uses that to her advantage to flirt with Sakyo purely to piss Shizuru off. Sakyo enjoys it of course because he likes both of them and Sora/Botan IS very pretty. They're both so very kind at heart and spend a lot of time with him which keeps him out of the house. He's always crashing at Shizuru's or Sora/Botan's.
There's a reason that Koenma thinks Kazuma would be a better Spirit Detective than Yusuke. He admires Mr. Kuwabara's work and depends on his intel. They've worked together for years since Mr. Kuwabara was a teen coming into his own psychic powers and their comraderie has only solidified since The Incident with Kazuma's mother.
One day the spirit world and demon world information dealing and undercover work Mr. Kuwabara is doing comes to a head in the worst possible way and a group if demons come after his family AGAIN.
When trying to kill the Kuwabaras via an attack on their home: Sora/Botan, who lives in the neighborhood, hears the explosion and sees the flames. She runs out of her apartment and does her best to run in and rescue the Kuwabara siblings. She makes way for them to escape the house fire but she can't get out herself. Caught by the collapsing second floor.
Shizuru and Kazuma can hear her dying pleas and her thinking of how much she loves Shizuru  and how she doesn't regret dying to save her but that that does regret never telling her how she feels. Sora/Botan hopes that Shizuru can be happy with Sakyo even if he is a rat bastard. He'll always be a friend and Shizuru deserves to be loved like the moon and stars.
It's just so loud. The anguish and pain and anger slams through both of the Kuwabara siblings. It's deeply scarring for them both. Not to mention seeing her immediately as a ghost before they're both dragged off with their father by the SDF.
Separating them before they can interfere with the reaping that suddenly and unexpectedly needs to take place.
Kazuma's memory is wiped by his father and one of his associates but since Kazuma is so young and Mr. Kuwabara is also very deeply affected by the incident he accidentally wipes everything of Sora/Botan from Kazuma's memory.
Shizuru chooses not to have her memory wiped. She wants to remember Botan forever. Which is again very upsetting and traumatic for Mr. Kuwabara and Shizuru. They can't even grieve her loss with him. She was like a second daughter to Mr. Kuwabara and a sister to Kazuma. They can't really explain why they're so upset so they have to settle on the familiar pain of the loss of their mother which is ALSO related to spirit world and demon world dealings but Kazuma doesn't know the details behind his mother's death. Mr. Kuwabara and Shizuru had decided to keep Kazuma out of other worldly issues as much as they could after they lost Mrs. Kuwabara.
After Sora/Botan's death, Shizuru and Mr. Kuwabara shut in on themselves and cut themselves off from human connections abruptly. Shizuru drops out of school that year (first year of High School) and goes for a cosmetology license to move on with her life and make the extra cash needed since their dad is throwing himself into his work and staying away from home more often than he's around.
Sakyo is never given information about Spirit and Demon world and isn't aware of the Kuwabaras psychic powers. He's aware of their nightmares and their seeming clairvoyance but that's mysticism that's easily explained.
When Shizuru pulls back from Sakyo she's furious with herself for somehow convincing herself that Sora/Botan's affection and love for her was anything other than romantic and she regrets how her feelings for Sakyo hurt Botan. She of course doesn't SAY any of that to him and just sort of shatters their friendship with a fight and cuts him off cold despite how much she still loved him. She's really going through it and not coping well at all. Shizuru blames herself for Sora/Botan's death and the misery sge assumes Sora/Botan dealt with for the last 4 years that shes was alive.
Shizuru has gotta focus on taking care of Kazuma. She doesn't have time to waste on a crush that wasn't going anywhere and only hurt the most important person in her life.
Sakyo has essentially lost both of the only people he actually gave a shit about in the space of a week and he was already on track to join the yakuza anyway. He joins and throws himself into it to dull the pain and stay away from home, while funding his transition. He helps with various yakuza front work as opposed to street brawling which he was never fond of anyway. He's always been the man with a plan.
Sakyo eventually gets more involved in the inner workings of the organization and through a series of betrayls ends up at the top. Working with Demon cartels and making contacts with Tarukane and the Toguro siblings.
He wonders idly if there was something more to the Kuwabaras until he ends up getting information from a secondary contact of Mr. Kuwabara's that confirms they're all psychic and information brokers. He pieces together that the fire wasn't a normal house fire and starts to blame Mr. Kuwabara for Sora/Botan's death and Shizuru's misery. Nothing would have happened if he'd kept out of demon cartel affairs.
When Sora/Botan died, Koenma of course pulled every string he could to make her a reaper. They didn't have a plan for her and weren't expecting her but after Sensui there was no way to swing for Spirit Detective. It'd be better to bide his time and wait for Kazuma to grow into his powers. So Koenma did what he could, but for bullshit red tape reasons the opportunity to be a reaper came at the cost of Sora/Botan's memories.
Botan can't remember her life as a human before she became a reaper. She thinks that she's from a different time period. These are false memories implanted upon her agreement to training and reaper work. She also looks completely different color palette wise (blue hair based off of her human name and pink eyes based off of her favorite flower peonies which is what she's now named after) but has all the same features.
The day Shizuru walks into Kazuma's room and sees Botan standing there she nearly has a heart attack. She'd recognize Sora anywhere. She immediately gives them space. She's not even sure what excuse she uses. She just knows that she has to get away. As time goes on, it's clear that Botan doesn't recognize or remember her. She tells her dad about it and he catches her up on Sora's enlistment as a reaper, what she had to give up to achieve that, and how Koenma has been favoring her as an assistant.
Shizuru is of course eternally bitter about Koenma seeing as he's managed to bring so much misery upon them all whether he means to or not. But she can't help how grateful she feels to see Sora/Botan again even if Kazuma has managed to get tied up in Koenma's bullshit now.
She sees how much Kazuma loves Yusuke and sees what she had with Botan in the past and she can't help but be happy for him that he got everything she wanted. She wishes him the best and lets him follow his path no matter where it leads him. She can only hope that he makes good choices and that his team will have his back.
Kazuma is the last person Sakyo ever expected to see again, much less fighting demons with an energy sword. Kazuma doesn't recognize him of course. He was so little and after a "head injury" during the house fire as a kid he doesn't remember much from around that time. Plus Sakyo looks markedly different as a grown man. Similar enough if you knew him pre transition or knew what his father looked like, but Kazuma wouldn't have any frame of reference.
Sakyo is shocked but has Toguro go after Kazuma with an invitation for Yusuke to the Dark Tournament after a quick assessment of the situation at hand. He's always been great at observing and reading people after all. If Kazuma's invited to the Dark Tournament, then there's no way he won't see Shizuru again. Of course she'll be there. Kazuma is everything to her. So he waits. What he doesn't expect to see is a girl with blue hair and pink eyes that's the spitting image of Sora when she passed.
Then the events from the Dark Tournament play out largely unchanged. Sakyo dies at the end of it all. No matter how much they love each other they took different paths. There was no way to rejoin. It was always meant to end this way, but they got to see each other again if only for a brief moment in time.
The rest of the series also passes largely unchanged from cannon. Shizuru takes her time to heal and become comfortable with Botan as we know her now. Botan reminds Shizuru of what Sora was like when they were kids. Of what Sora might have been like had they never gotten involved in delinquent activity as teens. She's just as sweet and bubbly as she was beneath all the bravado. It's easy to find herself relaxing into a warm if slightly detached friendship. She tries to keep Botan at arm's length because she doesn't know if she can keep a handle on her feelings for her.
Also Genkai knew more about the Kuwabara family that she never let slip during the series for a Variety of reasons. She ultimately got what she wanted and needed out of the tournament that she ran -seeing Kazuma- but ended up training Yusuke because of course with Koenma's interference of giving Yusuke powers and awareness of demons the little shit won the damn thing. And he clearly cares about the Kuwabaras so why not? She's still dead though. (More an au of the manga timeline vs anime timeline.)
ANYWAY GETTING TO THE SONG PART NOW
As much as Koenma is a little shit, after everything that happened with Genkai and Toguro and Mrs. Kuwabara and Shizuru and Botan and Kazuma almost dying he has a whole fucking lot to make up for and he keeps trying to do his best to make it up to this family that keeps defying fate's plans and exceeding Spirit World's expectations. He has a huge soft spot for them.
So one day when she's scheduled to have her human form changed to more closely match with Kazuma and Kurama's current age range, he also returns Botan's memories to her (somehow through a loophole he and George have been working on hunting down for years) and of course the first thing she does is fly to Shizuru with a little radio like Kiki's delivery service playing a song only her and Shizuru (and Kazuma) would recognize. It's a spirit world radio and it's amplified while transmitting on a psychic frequncy specific to the Kuwabaras.
It's a familiar tune from a Sci-fi show they watched together as children while babysitting Kazuma. (I sorta envision it like Star Trek I assume someone had brought Star Trek to Japan by the 80s.)
Shizuru hears it, thinks it might be kazumas stereo but it sounds like its inside her mind. She extends her senses outside while she looks to the sky, and she senses that Botan is flying overhead.
Shizuru instantly knows that Sora/Botan remembers their past. She jumps out of bed, scrambles into boots, a jacket, and a helmet running out of the house, and hops on her motorcycle to fly after her as Sora/Botan flies through the skies above Sarayashiki. They're heading towards a place by some train tracks near the beach that they used to brawl at in middle school for their bigger fights. Shizuru's thinking the lyrics to herself a she rides. Botan has always been the shooting star that she couldn't quite catch up to. She'll be damned is she doesn't catch her this time.
(It's my AU so Shizuru gets a motorcycle 🏍 she'd be so cool riding one come on)
The Kuwahi is admittedly less detailed....
On his end, Hiei is using the Jagan to check that Kazuma is home and considering saying something to him.
When he establishes the connection he hears the song starting. It's one Kazuma shared with him as a favorite of his. One Kazuma had listened to since he was a child. Playing it on his stereo with the window open so Hiei could listen from the tree outside his window one warm summer evening.
Hiei thinks that might have been the first night that he started having feelings for Kazuma.
Kazuma's sentimental speeches have gotten to him somewhere along the way and he's developed his own sentimentality. He's developed a love of music. Listening outside Kazumas window to whatever he plays for him.
Hiei's grown an appreciation for so many things in life that he'd long let die by the wayside. Kazuma revived them. He only started putting the pieces together when he couldn't put down his anger at Yukina rejecting Kazuma for her one-sided love for Keiko (of course I worked that in here. If we're still doing ultimately doomed Yaoi then let's toss in some ultimately doomed Yuri while we're at it too y'all 🤷‍♀️.). It was bad enough that Kazuma had to hide his pain and resignation at The Detective's proposal to the girl, did his own sister have to fall for her and break Kazuma's heart too? Were Kazuma's declarations and patience and kindness not enough?
Before Hiei started the connection, Kazuma had been up thinking about his feelings for Hiei and how they'd been growing since he'd let go of Yukina. How close they've gotten as teammates and friends. How he's slowly grown to love him over the years but isn't sure what to do about it.
Kazuma feels a familiar psychic connection and starts to hear the music. He assumes that Hiei is the one sending it. That's new. Typically when Hiei contacts him via psychic connection it's an emergency message or communication of information over long distance during a mission.
Hiei sends a few short words telling Kazuma that he's deeply important to him and asking Kazuma to follow him. The emotions conveyed in the connection make it clear that its some form of love and longing and not just the comraderie they've always had. Kazuma looks out the window and sees Hiei fly off the roof ringed in moonlight against a backdrop of stars. He jumps out of bed, into some shoes, and is down and out of the door chasing after Hiei as he feels the distance grow in their connection. He ends up singing the lyrics in their connection while chasing Hiei across town and through the surrounding forest as his own half of this confession. Hiei has always been a shooting star to him. He just needs to catch up.
Both chase scenes are happening at the same time because universal timing I guess lmao. Also Kazuma and Shizuru didn't notice each other leaving because they were so caught up in the moment lmao. Shizuru got out the door last and didn't hear Kazuma running out because she was scrambling for her boots and jacket.
Kazuma also has a motor cycle for the record it just wouldn't make sense to ride it where he's chasing Hiei.
Idk what do you think Shizutan and Hieibara shippers do I have anything here?
I can't write so all I can do is give a rundown of scenes. 🤷‍♀️
If someone likes this and wants to write or draw this please by all means! 💖 I give this AU headcanon freely. I don't have the skill or talent to write or draw anything with it.
I just wanted to at least share it in case it made someone else happy to think on.
I think I'm calling this the Tragic Biker Shizutan AU since the Kuwahi is more of an afterthought.

The Irritable Bowel Showdown competitors have been decided!!!
Thank you for your patience, everyone! The participants have been chosen, the bracket has been tentatively created, and preparations for Round One are underway!!!
Thank you for the feedback on my poll about the number of participants. Although the option for accepting further submissions had the most support, after narrowing down the eligible participants to 102, I decided it would be best to continue with the current number so the tournament could begin! As a result, some characters with a higher seeding will automatically move to the second round to accommodate the awkward number of competitors.
The full roster is as follows:

"Hey professor, I'm throwin' a little halloween party t'night. You should come over. You get t' meet my pals..or the ones that'd make it. I heard you and Kuwabara met. He'll be there..if you're hopin' t' see skimpy outfits on the ladies then that's another reason ya can show up."
Her ears went slightly pink at this last comment, and she waved the thought away with a quick flap of the hand.
"Worry not, a visit with you and your friends is already plenty of incentive -- it shall be nice to say hello to Mr. Kuwabara again when he is not under the stress of running your errands -- regardless of what the lasses might be wearing. I may need Miss Botan's advice on a costume, though..."

Rewrite The Stars AU Kuwama /Sort of a Song Headcanon
Red string of Fate is a big deal in this au but of course it's not immutable and static. It's tied and untied as Fate dictates of course. But who's to say we don't forge our own path and make our own Fate? That's what this whole damn series is about!
Requited/fate defying/re-forging Yukieiko as the catalyst of it all.
Past and now too late Kuwameshi and Kurahi (bitter)
SDF/Koenma and Mr. Kuwabara against it and coming after them because damn dude they're (kuwama) really not Supposed To Be but like how do they (sdf/his dad) think they're gonna stop Kazuma?
Get pocket dimensioned idiots!
There's ballroom dancing? During the confession? In Kazuma's apartment?
(Maybe not Ballroom but idk how to describe it. Very romantic swept off your feet kinda dancing. Kazuma is proving his point here. Let him prove his point. 😤)
Spirit World thinks this is about to be Sensui 2.0 for some reason and Koenma and Mr. Kuwabara are not happy about having to be the ones to stop this but just like Kurama (via Yomi and Human world bullshit) their hands are tied. They can't let this happen.
Kurama wakes up to the SDF and Kazuma's dad trying to break down the barrier/pocket dimension (they can't of course so it's the equivalent of banging on a door except it's barely audible) and that's where it ends with Kurama saying into the stillness (Kazuma is still asleep) while looking at Kazuma with so much love and regret:
"You know I want you, it's not a secret I try to hide; but I can't have you. We're bound to break and my hands are tied."

Got bored so I decided to watch Yu Yu Hakusho anime on Netflix.
I'm on epsiode four and so far I will say this:
the wake scene made me cry,
fuck the teachers of Yusuke's school... except for Mr. Takenaka, we stan him,
Kuwabara is awesome in his own, pompadour-sporting way,
I was kinda expecting something more in line of traditional supernatural anime, but so far it's more of a slice-of-life kind with ghosts sprinkled here and there... and I kinda like it (the way I liked that My Hero Academia S1 concentrained more on school activities than the overarching plot).

❝ poltergeist report: 𝐍𝐎𝐍𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐁𝐀𝐋 𝐑𝐏 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐌𝐏𝐓𝐒 | 𝐌𝐈𝐒𝐒𝐈𝐎𝐍 : 📓 | client: @osovereign | 𝙰𝙲𝙲𝙴𝙿𝚃𝙸𝙽𝙶.

It was supposed to be a calm night at the bar and thus far that’s exactly what it was..however, the moment he saw Kratos stepping inside he 𝙆𝙉𝙀𝙒 for a fact that the lazy night is dead. If it wasn’t Mr Kuwabara, or one of his mother’s informants then it was Kratos whom supplied him with a supernatural job on the side which ironically did help finance the success he’s made at being a food vendor. However, he just needed a singular night of drinking without worrying about a werewolf or demon dog.
━━   ❝   𝐇𝐞𝐲 𝐎𝐥𝐝 𝐦𝐚𝐧.  ❞  The sound of his greeting might have seemed ‘dry’ but it was this best anyone could get from Yusuke in a public location where alcohol is involved. Then as he suspected Kratos slid him a piece of paper along the bar table, it moved rather swiftly, perhaps too quick for anyone with untrained eyes to track but easy enough for the two to catch. The piece of paper laid securely into his grasp as he now began unraveling it.
Tumblr media
His eyes widened at the information written within it. There were reports of winged figures ‘helping’ civilians in Koreatown. They called these figures 𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐚..it was a word that Yusuke himself did not understand..must have been a korean thing. “Great, demons with wings in Koreatown. Your family showin’ up for barbecue or somethin’?” He knew Kratos himself had wings..hell he’d probably call him angel at this point, though the difference was at the very least Kratos himself could ass as human whilst these sightings were beasts.

Maze-Chapter One: What's Next? Pt. 2
The soft rhythmic beat of the modified heart monitor and respirator harmonized as two figures stood over the bedside of the comatose Yusuke Urameshi. It had been over twenty years, twenty three to be precise, since that fateful night when Spirit World had the massive hostage situation from Divine Rights. Twenty three years since Yusuke ended up in a vegetative state all because the zealots decided to use a massive weapon as a political statement and forced Yusuke to make a choice. TWENTY THREE YEARS since Keiko lost the love of her life, finding out she was pregnant, and forcing her into the life of a single mother raising their only child alone. Kurama, running a hand through his silvering red hair that gave a pinkish tint, couldn’t help but feel anger towards the whole situation that took away the one man that saved him all those years ago from a terrible mistake. He glanced over gently at Keiko who had suffered the most from the loss as she changed out the bedside flowers in Yusuke’s vase in hopes that one day he’ll return like before. Kurama, even at age forty eight, couldn’t help but feel the lingering guilt towards the twenty three year long situation, if only he had been the one to disarm the weapon. The ‘if only’ had ate at Kurama’s mind every time he came to visit Yusuke at his hospital bed, knowing full well that he'd never return.
Keiko, despite everything, managed to raise Tomoko on her own and franchised her family’s business to support themselves with. Sure, Tomoko had the lethal combination of her mother’s intelligence, her father’s temper, and both parents’ ability to throw a punch, kiddo managed to avoid getting into any major conflicts unlike Yusuke during his teen years. Of course, the outcome for how Tomoko came out was likely from the surrounded upbringing from Kurama and Kuwabara giving out a hand to Keiko while she made up a proper living situation to raise a child in. That was the only thing Kurama could take a bit of pride in knowing that he was able to help Yusuke in that respect and be there for his child. Keiko ran a finger along her styled hair, flecks of silver glistening in the waning sunlight as night time ready itself to blanket the cityscape. There came a knock by the hospital door, Kurama feeling a bit ill to his stomach knowing all too well what was to come as the doctor entered the room. From the look on Keiko’s face, she clearly felt that same sickness as the doctor motioned for her to take a seat. Yusuke’s mother had passed five years ago from her prolonged alcoholism taking a toll on her liver, leaving Yusuke’s care in the hands of Keiko. “Mrs. Urameshi, I know this is a hard topic for you, but given that your husband has been in a coma for well over twenty years now with no signs of recovery, we implore you to please consider taking him off life support. There have been no signs of brain activity since the day Mr. Urameshi was brought to us, we feel it would be in his best interest to let him go.” The doctor began the same old song and dance as many of his predecessors did before when the no brain activity diagnosis came. “I know, but as hard as it is to believe, my husband, I feel, will come back like he did before.” Keiko, having seen Yusuke revive from the dead twice in her life, was on the same boat as his late mother about the decision to keep Yusuke hooked up.
“Mrs. Urameshi, please be reasonable. Mr. Urameshi has no brain activity, there is absolutely no possible chance that we could even revive him, given that he’s been gone for twenty three years by now. The kindest thing you can do for your husband would be to take him off life support and allow him to peacefully pass away. I and the rest of the hospital staff understand just how difficult this ordeal has been, half the staff even watched your child grow up here during each visit. We’re not trying to be malicious, just realistic is all.” The Doctor attempted to reason when Kurama stepped in. “With all due respect, Mr. Urameshi is a very dear friend of mine, any dealings of having him removed from life support would have to go through me first. Like his wife, I have faith that he’ll return, the man has always been too stubborn for death to take him.” Kurama spoke as he glanced at Yusuke, protecting Keiko in his stead.
“Mr. Minamino, with all due respect, while you may be the one footing the medical costs for Mr. Urameshi, the choice comes entirely down to his caregiver, his wife.” The doctor adjusted his glasses for a moment before looking over towards Kurama.
“Shuichi, it’s alright, I can handle this. I will talk to my daughter about this first before any decisions are made, please have a good evening.” Keiko got up and was ready to leave the hospital, not wanting to deal with this any further.
The doctor couldn’t get another word in as Kurama helped Keiko out of the room and towards the twilight of the outside world. The crisp night air stung their lungs a bit from the stress and pressure of the topic of Yusuke being removed from life support. The sadness on Keiko’s face was very clear as Kurama consoled her on that topic being brought up once more. There had been many doctors Kurama had to dismiss on Keiko’s behalf whenever that bothersome topic arrived. However, this time, it was a bit different. The hopefulness that Keiko once had long before seemed a bit dimmer and less bright as it had. Normally, the first thing Keiko would’ve asked right away was to seek another doctor for Yusuke, but now, there was nothing but a contemplative silence that tore a bit at the former thief’s insides. The possibility of saying a final goodbye to Yusuke was now on the table and not a word was needed to be conveyed about it.
“What if he’s right? What if having Yusuke on life support for so long had been the wrong thing?” Keiko finally asked as she stopped walking to look at Kurama. “Keiko, don’t say that, Yusuke has died twice and managed to revive himself afterwards. He’ll come back like before, just like that old saying, ‘third times the charm.’” Kurama looked at Keiko, hoping that would help, not only for her, but for himself as well.
“I know, but, would that even be fair to Yusuke? If he revived now after twenty three years, how are we going to explain that he missed the birth of his own child or even missed out on her growing up? How are we even going to start to explain that Atsuko is no longer here or that the Spirit World has been going through some major political turmoil since Jorge took over in Koenma’s place?” Keiko unloaded every single concern the moment they passed a less crowded place to spill it out in.
“I don’t know, but we have to try, for Yusuke’s sake, we have to. Maybe we can arrange to meet up with Kuwabara and his family for dinner to discuss things. I can even try to bring Hiei in as well if you want?” Kurama offered as some women eyed him on the corner, even at forty eight, Kurama looked as though he was in his late thirties and still very attractive. “I haven’t heard Hiei’s name in a while, he’s been so deep in work over in the demon world as of late.” Keiko gave Kurama a very surprised look upon hearing Hiei’s name after the last six months since they last saw him.
“I know, we haven’t spoken to Hiei since the incident and it’s clear, Kuwabara likely blames him for not saving Yusuke. He’s been working so hard with Mukoro to continue Yusuke’s vision of the human and demon world integrating with one another in peaceful coexistence to make up for it.” Kurama sort’ve winced a little upon realizing just how much of a hard time Hiei was having since the event happened.
“I’ll do the dinner, but for now, let my daughter and myself talk about this first. I think that’s the best course for us right now to do.” Keiko reached the bus stop, ready to take that ride back to the family restaurant on her own to think over things.
“Alright, but if you need anything, just know you can ask either Kuwabara or myself for anything to help you out with.” Kurama said as he watched Keiko board the bus, watching as it drove off, leaving Kurama alone to his own thoughts.
Life went on as it had after the glory days of tournaments and assisted spirit detective work ended that cold day, making a stop at the grocery store for dinner and continuing the long walk back to the luxury apartment complex. The business that Kurama’s stepfather had started grew over the years and was now considered a major name in the industry thanks to Kurama’s age-old business advice. The key to the door clicked as Kurama made his way into the silence of home. It had concerned Kurama’s mother for a while now that her son hadn’t married yet given how popular he was with the girls back in his school days, but Kurama couldn’t tell her. It was all thanks to the ‘ick’ factor of being an already grown adult having to restart life as an infant, everyone in Kurama’s human age group was very much still a cradle rocking sort of taboo. Kurama took in a deep breath as he began preparations on making his evening meal of Kitsune Udon, something of a comfort meal after the day he had. There was a silent debate about taking Kuwabara’s offer to get Kurama a cat to make the apartment less isolating. As the food was cooking, Kurama took this time to call up Kuwabara on the phone, hoping he wasn’t too busy helping with high school entrance exams.
“Hello, Kuwabara residence,  this is Yukina speaking.” Yukina greeted the call, she hadn’t changed over the twenty three years of being in the Human World.
“Hey Yukina, it’s Kurama, I was wondering if I could speak to Kazuma please?” It had been a while since Kurama had used Kuwabara’s first name as he waited on the line. “Oh Kurama, of course I can get Kazuma up. I think he just finished helping our sons out with studying for their high school entrance exams.” Yukina could be heard calling her husband over to the phone, the clatter of their children could be heard getting their school supplies put away.
“Hey Kurama, how’s things been?” Kuwabara’s voice could be heard outside of the phone, his volume control was still needing work.
“Could be better, the latest doctor for Yusuke has started the talks about removing him from life support.” Kurama could hear Kuwabara’s brow crease upon being informed of the day’s event. “Dammit, not again. How’s Keiko handling this? I know that topic about Urameshi has been a hard one for her.” Kuwabara’s voice finally lowered a bit as his concerns for Keiko could be heard in his tone.
“She’s decided to sit Tomoko down for that conversation, I think Keiko is considering discontinuing life support for Yusuke.” Kurama explained, expecting an explosive reaction. “We need to support her then, Keiko’s has finally started to accept that Urameshi is gone..” Kuwabara finally said after a long pause of having to think things over. “You too?” Kurama was surprised by Kuwabara’s acceptance of possibly letting Yusuke’s body die.
“Kurama, you, me, and Hiei all knew Urameshi wasn’t going to come back after that blast. His soul is gone and destroyed, all we’ve been doing was keeping that one physical thing left of him alive as a display. We should’ve done better for Keiko when Atsuko passed away and should’ve had that talk with her about letting go.” Kuwabara gave his thoughts on the matter, his voice cracking after finally saying what needed to be said. “I know that, just, it’s Yusuke we’re talking about. We just haven’t figured out a way to bring his soul back is all…there has to be something, anything..” Kurama’s mind was racing a bit upon hearing that, clearly there had to have been another option that he wasn’t seeing just yet. “Kurama, do you hear yourself right now? We tried demon world medics for this when the news broke out. If the demon world wasn’t able to help Urameshi, that should have been a sign for all of us that it was goodbye. I’m scared too, I’m so scared to see Urameshi’s body go, but Kurama, we can’t keep holding onto that false hope of him returning.” Kuwabara reasoned, the voice cracking becoming more noticeable as he tried to reach Kurama about the situation and its reality.
“You’re right…you’re absolutely right Kuwabara, tomorrow, I feel we’re going to need to help Keiko after the talk. I’ll be contacting Hiei next about this.” Kurama had to put on a different voice than the one he truly wanted to use, despair and grief.
“I think that’s really all we can do right now for Keiko and Tomoko, I’ll be sure to bring the beer over to Keiko’s Restaurant tomorrow.” Kuwabara could be heard holding back a sniffle, knowing full well what the news was going to be for tomorrow.
“That sounds good Kuwabara, I’ll see you soon then, goodbye.” Kurama hung up before Kuwabara could say anything else, holding back the temptation of throwing the phone before going back to the next task, calling Hiei.

Couldn't stop thinking about how I would've written the ending of Chapter Black if it was my story, so I decided to write it down.
The way I would've done it, Yusuke's friends would believe him to be dead for much longer. Maybe this was just step 1 of a larger plan, with the portal actually being to a forbidden, quarantined section of Demon World where a weapon that could end all humanity is. The three of them still go in after him, and still aren't strong enough to stop him, but seeing how they care for each other starts to trigger memories and questions within him, would somehow break through to the empathy of his core self.
He has a mental breakdown fighting his selves and realizing that he's actually the bad guy, and then maybe Kuwabara (the absolute Chad that he is) tries to say they could forgive him and it looks like he could redeem, but then! Mr. Murdergun alter Kazuya tries to kill him, only to be stopped last minute by True Shinobu killing Kazuya (and thus himself).
You'd think it's done, but- time for phase two! Itsuki comes outta nowhere and fights them, insane and hateful over the loss of his love, and he has no sympathy for mankind so he can't be reasoned with. It's only then, in a dramatic moment, that Yusuke returns and utterly fucking destroys him.
At this point I'd go one of two ways- either he once again snaps back to himself a moment too late and with the dying Itsuki in his hands, or as he is attempting to fight the friends who are both overjoyed to see him alive and horrified to see him like this. Either way, it would end on a much more bittersweet note, with Koenma looking on from the sidelines, even more brokenhearted and blaming himself for one dead detective and another who's been permanently scarred.
Would've gone much darker than a kid's show should normally have any right to, and quite possibly included some visuals that'd get this shit banned from TV. But the emotional impact such an ending would have would, IMO, be entirely worth it.
