Not a bit! Though, I do wish that I had published my Loki and Sherlock fics from my 2014 era. I was too nervous to post any of them because of the fandom at the time. Maybe I'll do what I did with Socha and publish them 20 years from now. ...Which actually reminds me that I want to find and polish my old Vampire Chronicles stories now that the boogeyman of fandom isn't around to yell at me. notes: more than words (it’s love)

Summary: Kurama finds tiny treasures that remind him just how much he loves Kazuma Kuwabara. A series of small moments.

Author’s Notes: I was talking with @heidi-is-keen and she was having a long day and a migraine. And then this little ditty was born, haha. Very quickly whipped up, I hope you all are ready for some sugary-sweet fluff! (Also, not quite epistolary but close.)

Kurama doesn’t understand how Kazuma does it but he smiles when he opens his bento to find a note inside.

There’s a drawing of a cat and a smiley face, drawn in a crude style that Kurama knows is supposed to be a representation of Kazuma, and in his handwriting says:

I hope you’re having a good day! Enjoy your lunch. -Love, Eikichi and Kazuma

When his chopsticks pick up the karaage, each bite tastes more delicious, and he smiles.

Kurama is running late for his work, but as he stands in front with the throng of the crowd, his hand creeps into the pocket of his coat.

There’s a crinkle of plastic and paper; in his hand, there’s a little piece of candy with a taped note around it.

When he embarks on the train, he bothers to read what the note says.

“Saw this piece of candy unopened around the house and thought I’d put it in your pocket. I know it’s your favorite. Don’t take too long to eat it, though!”

Kurama wraps his fingers around the candy, palm curled around it, as the train keeps going.

Kurama turns over in the bed – it’s cold, and empty, except for Eikichi resting near his back. Kazuma’s out on a work trip and even for the short few days he’s gone, Kurama misses his warmth.

His fingers dip under his pillow and the sound of paper fills his ears.

Kurama lies on his back as he flips open the note. There’s another drawing of Kazuma, this time drawn in an approximation of pajamas, and a scrawled message:

I know it’s only 3 days and the place I’m at has crappy reception but put this on my pillow and think of me. Just make sure Eikichi doesn’t claw at it. Love you. <3

Kurama stares at the drawn figure’s smile and the little hand doodled heart.

He lies on his side, propping the paper up against Kazuma’s pillow.

The bed is less cold now.

Kurama is sleeping when big, strong, warm arms wrap around his waist. Tender fingertips lightly brush away some of his strands; what follows is a soft press of lips against his neck.

There’s shuffling in the bed as it dips under additional weight and their bodies are rearranged.

“Miss me?” Kazuma asks; Kurama can feel the smile on his skin.

Kurama covers Kazuma’s hands with his own, their fingers intertwining. “Yes,” he admits. “However, I did enjoy your notes.” He shakes his head lightly, a small corner of his mouth turned up.

“You liked those?”

Kurama is surprised at the disbelief in Kazuma’s voice.

He cranes his head to look at Kazuma, still in his embrace. “Of course. It made the wait bearable.”

The happiness that blooms on Kazuma’s face, in his eyes and in his smile, warms a place deep in Kurama’s chest.

“I’m glad. Maybe I should leave you some more when you least expect it.”

Kurama leans over to press a chaste kiss on Kazuma’s lips.

“I would like that.”

Then, Kurama settles back to his original position, his back against Kazuma’s chest.

“Goodnight,” Kazuma whispers, tender in his ear.

Kurama’s eyes drift close before he can reply back, goodnight on his lips.
