As much as I adore Kurama Being A Day Late & A Dollar Short as a trope for Kuwahi and Kuwameshi I'd love to see it the other way around for Kuwama!

Hiei perched in the tree outside Kazuma's window listening to him listening to sappy love songs and thinking of how much he likes him and not being able to properly express it.

Hiei being so stupid jealous of Yusuke and Keiko who are so confident they've got this in the bag. Hiei is coming up with ways to interfere.

But Kurama is a skilled theif and he'll be damned if someone steals Kazuma before he does.

Turns out the crush Kazuma has been rotating in his mind is Kurama because he gave up on Keiko immediately when Yusuke made it clear he loved her and he gave up on Yusuke when he proposed to Keiko. He never thought much about Hiei because he figured Hiei didn't like him.

But here's Kurama tutoring him and supporting him and hanging out with him and inviting him to Shiori's wedding (as a date? As a friend? Is he hoping for too much?) and he just can't get him out of his head.

But Kazuma's convinced Kurama and Hiei are a thing and based on Karasu's looks that he wouldnt be Kurama's type anyway. So he just pines and keeps it to himself and tries to focus on his classmates.

Meanwhile Kurama is running these classmates off by crashing study sessions and constantly making plans with Kazuma to fill out his schedule.

Hiei, Yusuke, and Keiko assumed that Kazuma must have asked for study help and don't question it.

Kurama is winning.

(They all end up together either way though so no big - yu yu polycule forever)

Maybe I'll do what I did with Socha and publish them 20 years from now. ...Which actually reminds me that I want to find and polish my old Vampire Chronicles stories now that the boogeyman of fandom isn't around to yell at me.
