First Meeting with...
— William James Moriarty was something you had never expected in your life. Heck, you didn't even think someone like him actually exist. You bumped into him coicidentally when you're just about to depart from the orphanage, oddly tempting you both to engage in a conversation, and so you did. After chatting for a while, you realize that he immediately got to your good side, finding it impossible for a man this friendly to be evil. if only you knew... Moving on, you two became friends eventually growing even more closer to something else entirely.
— Albert James Moriarty was something you'd overseen, seeing as he's the noble you were originally engaged to. But now that his parents are dead, you both met up to discuss about the engagement, whether to break it off or not. The meeting turned into a dinner date as you both became engrossed with each other, losing track of time and unofficially had your first date. During the whole time of supposed discussion, you've chatted with the Earl, getting to know him better and decided to go through with the engagement, seeing as both of you had no problems against it. Plus, he doesn't necessarily seem to be against it, since he quite possibly and obviously took an interest into you. In his mind, it's rare to meet someone who have the same opinion about him regarding the aristocracy of Britain, successfully making him to feel something for you.
— Louis James Moriarty was peculiar. Infact, it's not exactly considered as the first meeting. It was raining at that time, and you had embarrassingly forgotten your unbrella, despite beng told to bring it with you. Here you are, standing under a shop's awning, waiting for the rain to cease. As you did, you saw a glimpse of an overly familiar boy in the corner of your eyes, making you turn to him. Surprised at the sight of your childhood friend, a smile makes it way up to your face as you called out to him. Hearing his name, Louis turned to you in both confusion and nervousness, feeling slightly alerted with how the so called stranger knew of his name. Explaining yourself, his composure returned and he visibly relaxed before smiling at you. "How have you been?" he's ask, finally remembering the pretty face he had fallen in love with.

Incorrect quotes about Lewis and Sherlock...hating? each other.
Sherlock: God, I love Liam.
Lewis: Yeah, you fucking better.
Lewis: Met a dumbass today. Awful.
Sherlock: You looked in a mirror?
Lewis: Someday you will have to answer for your actions and God may not be so merciful.
Lewis: *talking about Sherlock* My expectations were low, but they can go lower.
William: Guys, Sherlock is missing.
Lewis: Good.
Sherlock: What have I done wrong??
Lewis: Everything. For your entire life.
Lewis: Didn't you die?!
Sherlock: That was years ago, Lewis. Things change.
Mycroft: In your opinion, what is the height of stupidity?
Lewis, turning to Sherlock: How tall are you?
Sherlock: Can you pass the salt?
Lewis: Can you pass away?
Sherlock: Too much salt.
Lewis, to Albert: How do you tell someone politely you want to hit them with a brick?
William: Oh Lewis, we have a visitor!
Lewis: Don't tell me it's Sherlock.
William: It's Sherlock.

Enjoy!
Tumblr media
William James Moriarty:
He will be such an excellent father, but won't pay as much attention to the child as he would like.
He is a maths professor so he'll teach his children about maths obviously, but he is occupied by his work at time and cannot spend as much time as he would like.
He will also teach them on like equality and decent human respect and how everyone should be treated equally because at the end of the day we are all homosapiens and shouldn't judge each other due to nasty stereo types and rumours.
Basically his child(ren) are well educated but still go to school cuz like they need to.
Also Louis teaches them basic kitchen skills.
Over all 9/10 father, the whole underground situation isn't the best regarding children yk
Louis James Moriarty:
He is protective as hell, like the house is baby proofed till the child is six or something.
But he will let the child explore its surroundings, especially in nature.
He's they type of guy to baby proof the plastic containers but let them walk to the very edge of a cliff yk.
He wouldn't actually let that happen but you get what I'm trying to say hopefully.
He child grows up around the smell of tea and obviously that's the only thing they drink.
Also he teaches them basic and simple culinary skills!
Louis also would educate his child(ren) about decent human respect and the child's uncle, William will teach them math in his spare time.
9/10 again the very deadly line of work thing isn't the best regarding children yk.
Albert James Moriarty:
He spoils them, need I say more?
Also he encourages them to play with other kids from lower classes.
He would be the most serious about tho and his drinking habits need to be reduced.
The child can't have such influences on its little mind.
Its uncles teach him a lot of things but Albert also contributes.
8/10 after, this time his legal and illegal line of work also his drinking habits, we don't want the child to grow up to be drinking alcohol 24/7.
Sherlock Holmes:
He is the fun dad, like all the kids love him.
But he can be low key scary when serious/angry but other than that he's chill yk.
John is child's favourite uncle, and it thinks Mycroft is low key scary.
Also Ms Hudson gives little Holmes candy cuz she can never resist the little kid.
It's the only reason why Sherlock isn't on the streets.
Also he spoils the kid.
7/10 father, he's like broke, smokes way too much, also his line of work isn't the safest (he got arrested and almost killed someone) but he will try and be careful.
John H. Watson:
He's an amazing father, he's really caring and soft.
He might spoil the child on a rare occasion but nothing too much.
Also if he thinks he'll endanger himself being sherlock's partner or like assistant idk but whatever he is to sherlock during working hours, he'll quit.
He doesn't trust sherlock with his child, like at all, he thinks sherlock will drop it or something.
10/10 father, he makes the child his first priority and shouldn't get shot death regarding his line of work.
Sebastian Moran:
I cannot see him as a father, like at all.
Mycroft Holmes:
He a stubborn father, but he has a soft spot for his child, it's honestly so sweet.
Like he would low key spoil the child but not too much and he'll be a very caring father.
Although when he gets mad or overly irritated the child is told to stop whatever they are doing in a harsher tone and either get told to go to their room or something similar depending on what they are doing.
But he apologise to the child and tells them what they did wrong.
His child will definitely grow up to have manners.
9/10 father, he gets irritated a bit too much.

Hi! May I request a Louis x Reader where we just SMOTHER him with love and affection? Maybe a scenario where he's feeling a bit down or tired. Maybe we're in the bedroom and we're caressing his cheeks while just saying a lot of words of affirmation and physical touch. One where he's not saying anything while we just hit him with the most reassuring words of encouragement anybody has ever said to him and he's holding back tears while we look at him with the softest eyes he had ever seen. You can add any other characters if you want ofc! (since ur the author and u have full control) have a good day/night! (Also sorry if my English isn't very good I'm still learning)
A/N: your English is great anon! I honestly wouldn’t have guessed you weren’t a native speaker! Thank you for your request btw! I love Louis sm <3 I also added a few other characters as a little treat. Sorry if it took longer than expected! READER IS GENDER NEUTRAL

Character: Louis J Moriarty x reader, William J Moriarty x reader, Albert J Moriarty x reader (separate)
Genre: (almost tooth-rotting) fluff, comfort
Prompt: comforting the Moriarty brothers after a long day
Format: Drabble + scenarios
Warnings: ptsd episode (in William’s) and mentions of suicide (William again)
Tumblr media
—Louis J. Moriarty who had a bad day with all the work being done around the manor and Sebastian slacking off while William hadn’t been taking care of himself. He’s sick of being the responsible adult who has to take care of everyone. He just wants to be comforted and held (don’t we all?). That’s where you come in. He loves you more than anything. You’re always there for him.
“Had a bad day ,love?” You asked Louis as he sat down on your bed.
He was evidently tired. You could tell his reckless brothers had been stressing him out and Sebastian really hadn’t been helping with all his drinking. Fred told you he thought he wasn’t doing well once you came back home and you made it your duty, as his lover, to take care of the poor boy.
“Yeah..I’m fine, dear…” he lied. He avoided your gaze. You had seen right through him.
“You sure?” You said, placing a hand on Louis’ thigh. He chewed on his lip, secretly warming into your touch, hoping you’d give him a hug, a kiss, anything really. He was so tired and he just wanted you to comfort him.
He nodded with a hum but was interrupted by your arms enveloping his sleepy form. He was surprised at first but returned the affectionate gesture and leaned into you, his head resting on your shoulder.
“Liar.” You smiled as you reached over to his cheek and started caressing it.
Your lover tried to hide his embarrassed face but you lifted his face to yours and peppered him in kisses, leaving him blushing like crazy.
“You don’t have to tell me how your day was but it might feel better to let a few things of your chest?” You suggested after giving him a kiss on his forehead and letting him snuggle into you.
“ ‘m just feeling a bit down.” His muffled voice said
“Alright, darling,” you smiled, running your fingers through his soft dirty blonde locks. “Honestly, I don’t know anyone who’s stronger than you. You keep everything in order and I don’t know how on earth you can put up with Moran’s whines sometimes.” You laughed.
At this point, his eyes have a shimmer on them and his eyelashes had grown wet with this tears. He was holding back sobs as you held him close to your warm and comforting body.
After more words of adoration and affirmation, you lifted his chin, leading him to face your soft smile.
“I love you more than anything.”
(He cried in your arms after that while you wondered what you did wrong)
Tumblr media
—William J Moriarty who had a minor ptsd episode while you were in the garden with Fred and he was in his office. You walk in just in time and comfort him as his lovely spouse. What would he do without you? (He’d kill himself.)
“(Name)? Where are you going?” Fred asked as you rose from your previous kneeling position beside him.
“I don’t know..I just have a feeling somethings off. I’m gonna go check on Liam..” you said, rushing back into the house. You trusted your intuition, you really did but sometimes you doubted it. Why would your gut instinct tell you to go into William’s office when you were meant to be hanging out with Fred and admiring his flowers?
Fred nodded as he watched you run into the house. You and William had such a strong bond, it honestly kept surprising them at times. Whenever he was sick, William would refuse to be seen by anyone else but you, who forcefully nursed him back to health. William barely could ever sleep unless you were there beside him. Perhaps you had become a telepath too.
Once the door to William’s office swung open, you scanned the room for your lover. He wasn’t sat at his desk which made you worried. As you walked into the room, you could hear muffled sniffles and crys. You turned in the direction of the sounds to see William crumpled on the floor beside his desk, clearly upset and panicky. As his lover, you had been told of his childhood before but didn’t understand the true extent of how much his past had haunted him until that moment.
“William…?” You called out to him. Panic was mildly evident in your voice but you tried to remain calm for his sake. You didn’t want to worry the others so you decided to take care of him by yourself.
He was shivering and crying, completely disconnected from reality.
You knelt beside him and placed a hand on his shoulder reassuringly, letting him know that you were there. Never having witnessed William in such a state before meant that you didn’t know what exactly you were meant to do so you treated the incident as a more severe version of a panic attack (mind you, in the Victorian era, nobody knew ptsd existed and mental health issues were treated very poorly. Most people were ‘exorcised’ if they were traumatised or going through a manic episode)
You grabbed a blanket that was discarded on the couch and draped it over him, holding his head close to your chest while you rubbed his back, easing him along and waiting for his breathing to steady. You could feel his hands gripping the back of your clothes as he continued crying into your chest. He was somewhat ashamed that you had seen him like that. He was so used to being strong for you and William never would have hoped you’d see it.
You continued reassuring him through physical affection and your words while your lover calmed down slowly. You sat him on the couch with you and stroked his hair while he clung to your body, refusing to let you see his pretty tear stained face. You played with his hair while he tried to tell you what had happened only a few moments before you entered the room. He was scared. Scared of being a bad person.
William was the kindest and most empathetic man you knew. He always did what he believed to be the best for others and was there for you when you needed him. Surely, a man like him could never be bad. And you told him exactly that.
He felt so lucky to have you. You were there when he was at his lowest and reassured him of his worth. You were so good to him.
(When Fred came to check up on the two of you out of curiosity, he found William asleep in your arms and you laying underneath him. Bonde also happened to be there and if Victorian cameras were more advanced, he would totally have taken multiple pictures of such a sentimental scene)
Tumblr media
—Albert J Moriarty who had came back from a party full of morally bankrupt nobles, irritated to the bone and in desperate need of being able to rant to his lover while laying his head down in their lap.
“Welcome back, darling.” You greeted your husband.
As the oldest son of the Moriarty family, he held the responsibility of attending numerous events with other nobles, on top of the work he had to do for the military intelligence and the Lord of crime all at once.
You could tell that he didn’t have a fun time at the recent ball. You knew of the nobles who were hosting it and…to say the least they were on the Lord of crime’s hitlist….
“Incredibly glad to be back.” He gave you a tired smile and hung up his blazer, removing the rest of his formal wear as soon as he shut the door to your shared bedroom.
“They were annoying, weren’t they?”
“Mhm..your lucky you didn’t have to go.” He murmured, putting on some more comfortable clothes “still, I wish I had some decent company in such a filthy place..”
“I really wish I could have gone with you, baby, but I was busy helping Moran..” an idea popped into your head like a shiny lightbulb glowing above you. “How about you tell me all about it while you lay your head down in my lap?”
This wasn’t the first time you had offered this form of affection. It wasn’t strange for it to be the other way round either. After a few moments of silence, Albert plopped his head onto your soft thighs, almost as though he were a cat. His chocolate coloured locks cascaded over your upper legs as he shifted around, trying to get comfortable.
“God, how can I even begin to start on how bad these nobles were…when we were dancing, one of the noblemen knocked into a servant who was serving drinks and she apologised immediately even though it wasn’t her fault and the nobleman started yelling at her in front of everyone, with no shame..!” You listened attentively while your lover rambled on. You played with his hair and even braided a small part of it while he continued talking, his beautiful voice echoing against the walls of the room.
“Are you listening ,love?” He asked, pulling your hand away from his hair and over to his lips, placing a soft kiss against the back of your hand.
“As always, dear.” You smiled sincerely.
Moments like these were always the most comforting with Albert, a man plagued by his obsession with perfection. He didn’t care when he was with you, at least not a lot, anyways.

I haven’t really gotten into the swing of blogging here and I probably have like 2 followers who aren’t bots 😆 but I’m rewatching BBC Sherlock and feeling an inkling to reread the original stories and it just has me thinking and wanting to ramble about Sherlock media and put it somewhere. What I’ve really grown to appreciate all these 20ish years of being a Sherlock fan is seeing every new adaptation put their own spin on Sherlock and all the characters in the canon. Some I’ve loved, some I’ve been displeased with, but it’s always fun to analyze and revisit and see what parts delight and what disappoints or leaves me wanting more. More thoughts below because apparently I had a lot to ramble about on this topic lol.
BBC Sherlock probably has one of my favorite Watsons, and he gets more focus here then a lot of other adaptations, and feels truer to the character to me than many others. Old adaptations like Basil Rathbone with Nigel Bruce used to have him be a bumbling fool type and I’m glad that’s in the past now. I also enjoy Lestrade in the BBC version and tend to prefer adaptations that get him along this vein, a trusted person on the force, exasperated with Sherlock and his methods a lot of the time, but also one of the most willing to put faith in him and believe in his abilities (and his integrity when it matters.)
Irene Adler adaptations like the BBC show or Robert Downey Jr movies are usually hit or miss for me, and generally I find they put too much emphasis on making her have romantic feelings for Sherlock for my liking. I applaud how they want to make her a more prominent character than one who only appears on page in one story, but romantic tension/interest feels so limiting as the way they choose to do it. There’s some merit to showing how she has to weaponize her beauty/sexuality in that time period at times, but they rarely dig deeper than that or give her more of her own storyline.
I’ve also found most Moriarty adaptations pretty lacking. BBC Sherlock’s became very popular, and Andrew Scott is a wonderful actor, but he always came off as far too gleefully chaotic and evil for evil’s sake to be that interesting to me as Sherlock’s foil. I feel like they went with a Batman versus Joker sort of dynamic there, emphasizing shock value, and I much preferred the mystery of him throughout the early seasons versus the reality post reveal.
Moriarty in the original canon only gets hinted at very late when Conan Doyle is setting up what he believed to be the end of the stories (before public demand and personal debts changed those plans), and therefore he’s always been more a mystery figure than an actual developed character in the original stories. But the building blocks are there for adaptations to take and mold and I hope we get to see more creativity here. Robert Downey Jr faces off against a version of Moriarty in the movies that I’d call Moriarty classic. Serviceable, but nothing new there really. Math teacher, formidable, crime lord, older, genius, check, more or less straight from the books.
BBC Sherlock was also missing Moran who I’d been highly anticipating, and fans kept speculating some unnamed sniper was him, but we never got confirmation. To me that was such a huge missed opportunity, for an adaptation that really highlighted the bond between Sherlock and Watson, how could you ignore the bond between Moriarty and his own “dark” version of Watson?
So cue Moriarty the Patriot, which felt like a series made just for me to fangirl over. It nails Sherlock and John, even if they’re not as much the main focus here as other series, and that’s just clearing the bar for me, my first criteria for any Sherlock media being “do they get John right?” They introduce a younger version of Miss Hudson, whom I also loved in BBC Sherlock, but this brings a fun new dynamic where she feels more like a loving sister to our boys rather than a favorite aunt like in the classic take. Still long-suffering, still the heart who keeps them in check and cares for them, and until John comes along, the only person really in Sherlock’s confidence. I hope we see more of her backstory in MtP (BBC nails this quickly with the mention of Sherlock helping to put her shitty husband in prison.)
Then there’s the MtP version of Irene, who’s the most creative take on the character I’ve ever seen. Is there some potential romantic tension with Sherlock still? Sure if you’d like to ship it, but thats far from her main storyline, she has so much MORE going on. Her own wants, her own goals, her own mistakes, her own plans, that whole first plot of hers is still one of my favorite arcs in the manga and a time when it truly differentiated itself for me from any other adaptation. And that’s not even getting into the Bond material yet, which as a Bond movie and book fangirl as well, was this series actually custom made for me?!?? Ya’ll really were deep into my brain for this one, combining M with Albert, bringing in Moneypenny, all of it. The manga blew me away with all of this and how it was handled. Moran, you better never betray Bond as agent 006 Alex Trevelyan a la Goldeneye. 😆
Before the meat of this, I want to take an aside to also say I love MtP’s take on Mycroft. BBC gives us our first more active Mycroft on-screen that I can recall, not just lounging in the Diogenes Club per canon, orchestrating everything at a remove, but more involved in looking after his brother and meddling when he feels necessary. He’s a huge drama queen in the first episode and I’m looking forward to rewatching the seasons again and seeing the brothers’ dynamic grow. But MtP takes this and instead of having our first encounter with Mycroft be with John alone, more removed from his brother still, we see the two fighting and squabbling and I just love them, your honor. I would like to see someone handle their parents better than the BBC version did, and idk if we’ll ever see them in MtP, but I do enjoy the tidbits we’ve gotten like Sherlock’s working class accent. They already used the name Sherringford/Sherrinford for their ancestor, so curious where they’d go with this. But Mycroft in general, his parallels with Albert, his guilt over their ancestor and role in the government? His relationship with his brother? Nailed it, more please.
Brief shoutout to Enola Holmes, she’s a bit Mary Sue/wish fulfillmenty, but I enjoyed her and her dynamics with her brothers vastly more than the sibling they shoehorned into the last season of BBC Sherlock. If you’re going to give the boys a sibling, that was a fun way to do it. Henry Cavill looks NOTHING like Sherlock is usually described, but he was fun and quite nice to look at lol.
Now onto the main thing I want to ramble about: MtP has the single best adaptation of James Moriarty that I have ever seen in writing or on screen. It’s no coincidence that this is the first adaptation I’ve seen try to dive into his backstory, figure out what’s the deal with his brother(s), which was a genius move taking that inconsistency with Doyle’s descriptions to make there be three James Moriartys total, and to give us a compelling reason as to WHY he does the whole lord of crime thing. Like fine if it’s just for money, control or power, and I can read/watch that story if well done, but this is the first time I’ve really seen a series take the building blocks Doyle laid out and really turn them into something more, to create something original and compelling. William and his brothers 100% deserve their main focus in the series, and its all the better for that perspective flip, as much as I love Sherlock and John. Sherlock and John are fleshed out already, most modern adaptations can get them right, but the Moriartys? That was brand new.
Not to mention, they gave William James Moriarty his Sebastian Moran, and nailed that dynamic as well. Normally I’d think if we finally got Moran he’d be my main ship for Moriarty, just as John was always my main ship for Sherlock, but somehow MtP gets me shipping them, but also William x Sherlock, Mycroft x Albert, Moneypenny x Moran, Irene x Hudson aaand I could digress for way too long here so I’ll leave it at that. Note to anyone writing future adaptations, GIVE MORIARTY HIS MORAN.
All of these MtP versions of the characters are so good that now they’ve ruined me for other Sherlock related media, I’ve found. I watched Ron Kamanohashi and loved it, but as soon as elements of Sherlock and Moriarty were introduced, I found myself badly wanting MtP to be the original canon they were drawing from and see those storylines reflected in the modern day setting of Ron’s story. That is now 1000000% my headcanon. Can we somehow get future Sherlock media to adapt some of the new ideas MtP introduced moving forward, and keep expanding on those concepts? Be inspired by them to keep exploring more of the characters once you’ve gotten the mains right? Maybe not, but a girl can dream. It’s a fun time to be a fan of Sherlock related media.
With all that rambling said, has anyone got any recommendations for other Sherlock books, shows, manga, etc? I remember The Seven-Per-Cent Solution was a very influential AU book back in the day for Sherlock fans and is supposed to present an alternate telling of the Holmes and Moriarty dynamic, so I may read that. Sometimes I branch off into Lupin media and I’ve read some of Arsene Lupin vs Herlock Sholmes as well. 😆 I enjoy silly Herlock in The Great Ace Attorney games although he definitely feels like a goofy AU version.
TLDR: If anyone has skimmed this giant post and has any other Sherlock media suggestions, let me know! Looking for some more unique takes on the characters and story.
