WRITING UPDATE

I began writing Morgoth's Shadow on 11/20/24. Today is 1/6/25. In 48 days, I have written 100,003 words on this project. This came after 4 years of barely writing anything due to life craziness and becoming a parent in 2020. I thought my creativity had gone underground and would never come out to play again. I've never been happier to be wrong. I have reestablished my daily writing habit and am so excited to be making so much progress. I have absolutely no fear that I will finish this fic. I have it all planned, it just needs the writing to go with the ideas. Thank you to everyone for your encouragement on this fic and this journey. I am elated. I'm going out to celebrate tonight with my little family. 🥰🥰🥰

My first foray into angbang, I hope I’m doing this right.

The first time I heard this song as a teenager, I immediately thought of Mairon singing it about Melkor because I am a massive nerd. I can’t listen to it and not think of them now.

I wish I was an artist so I could draw them both to this song, but alas I am not, so I have chosen some amazing art work I found that matches the vibe anyway.

They collected many leaders of men, or people who could be but after the tedious selection there was only eight left. However, one of them knew of a group who allegedly stood against the darkest of dark creatures during the time of Morgoth.

Even Annatar was doubtful but Celebrimbor was more than happy to delay the finishing of the last set of rings because his doubts about men had not disappeared.

Sauron sensed the darkness in you, and frankly, he was amused by your argument with the elven smith when it became clear that Celebrimbor thought the elves were superior to men. His favourite part might have been when you enlightened Celebrimbor that the rings are not his achievement, he was merely a tool to make them.

The Dark Lord gave you the last and most powerful of the Nine himself, not realising that he put too much of himself in them and your ring linked you two together by your will, locking you into a fight for the power over them.

This fight might decide the fate of all Middle-Earth, either way, by the end a Witch Queen will rise. The question is, will she be serving the Dark Lord or not?

I like to make fun of Melkor but at one point in the Lost Road Melkor's true name is given as Alkar the Radiant, which I can't help but find just. incredibly tragic. He really started out as one of the best, brightest and most beloved of them, eldest and greatest of the Ainur...but then he fell, becoming Morgoth the Dark One. How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer son of the morning indeed...

Ive been replaying elden ring to get back in the groove for the DLC. Been going for a bleed samurai build with no shields or summons and it's been going pretty well so far (bloody slash has been doing a lot of the work to be honest). Im currently at Morgoth whose been relentlessly putting my foolish ambitions to rest and he`s being really mean about it.

And just like that, the drafting for Morgoth's Shadow is complete. Clocked in at 167,390 words. Only a little bit shy of my 168k estimate. Came in pretty close, but the end felt right to me, so I didn't stretch the words at the end.

I wrote on it every single day since beginning it on November 20, 2024. This was the happiest, smoothest writing experience I have ever had. And though I still need to revise chs23-56, I am so happy the hard part is out of the way.

I'm going to cry, watch a movie tonight with some wine, and relax.
