The Sacred Within the Flawed
A Paradox of Divine TextsIn an intricate dance between the divine and human, sacred texts from various religious and philosophical traditions find themselves at the nexus of reverence and scrutiny. These texts, while venerated as conduits of divine wisdom and moral guidance, are not immune to critique nor the acknowledgment of their inherent flaws. When we unravel the threads of any sacred text,…

I don’t have a lot of energy for discourse but um. If you follow me and you genuinely seriously agree with what @/prxship has said about paraphiles and how they’ve treated another selfshipper because of it, I really don’t want you here, that mindset is unsafe and appalling to me

I genuinely think that Felix is the only one with some backbone when it comes to Dimitri but it’s also sad that he just doesn’t know how to help him. All he can do is to insult him and call him a boar and other stuff BUT I guess at least he’s the only one who acknowledges that he is literally Not Well right now

the anti-"punch a nazi" social justice rhetoric evolution into... solidarity?
"you should love Y more than you hate X" people are SO close to getting it. hatred is a sterile emotion with no political good to come out of it. restorative justice > blood feuds. rehabilitation > capital punishment. politics of reconciliation > politics of resentment.
kindness > brutality
hatred elevated into a political signifier (and all hatred is reactive to a real slight or unmet psychological need, no matter how distorted the mediating logic is) literally always causes your activism to derail into something it isn't or target someone it shouldn't.
you should love goodness and when you realize the incredible amount of work that takes to actually embody -in my opinion, it's supernaturally hard, and at least would take a life of habit to perfect-, you literally do not have time/energy to hate anything.
i'm not saying you have to fix everything yourself all the time, or that you can't feel hate or anger or contempt, but if you truly are focused on the positive it's a passing storm and the less your focus on the harmful that the more you can focus on what is helpful. don't you see the world already has enough damnifiers?
the identitarian, sectarian undercurrents of social justice rhetoric have promoted an artificial anti-universal, anti-humanist mindset it can't escape from now easily. but you can. don't artificially deprive yourself of parts of your own humanity so you can dehumanize others, and then expect societies and cultures in which human beings don't dehumanize each other - even your own.
movements don't change without people in them changing. sadism is sadism. wishing to hurt people, for people to burn in hell, for people to rot, for people to be obliterated/forgotten, harm on their families/kin, etc, this is first and foremost an attack against your own humanity's breadth. call out that shit, reject it, dare speak out. idk just be fucking better than that or else don't act surprised others seek to capitalize on, in fact, cruelty and disunion.
it is disheartening and... small. we're all here just for a little while and we really don't need to make it worse, but we're doing it constantly for a little moment of satisfaction and a power rush. blergh.

the thing about timmy is that his moral center is absolutely emotional over cerebral. cerebrally he believes in the greater good above all. emotionally he believes its critically important to save even one person, that thats maybe the most important thing. and every time he will prioritize that second thing when it really comes down to it, which is why he gets so distressed every time he meets an evil gun timbats from the future or whatever. the timmies who stopped listening to their hearts. the timmies who stopped prioritizing their need to help. (tapping my mic) hello. is this thing on

The Mahabharata: Values, Principles, and Right Life Conduit
Today I spoke with an Indian friend about some details from the Sanskrit version, and translation, of the Mahabharata – महाभारतम्, the epic Indian saga, that transcends a mere story, representing a religious book. Manuscript illustration of the battle of Kurukshetra. From Wikipedia Mahabharata is one of the two major स्मृति – Smriti texts (a body of Hindu written texts usually attributed to an…

i feel like there is so much to be said about drizzt do’urden’s religious views and how he’s a stand-in for culturally christian atheists. he grew up in a corrupt religious society and has religious trauma, so as a result he views all religion as bad. at first it seems like he’s going to have a “pagan finds jesus” story but he eventually rejects mielikki too, and imo, it always felt out of character that he followed her in the first place so i wasn’t surprised when he changed his mind. he was looking for a name to label his preexisting system of ideals, which feels very much like christians who claim “all that matters is that you live by the bible and live in a godly manner”. many religions are about teachings and traditions as much as they are about “just being a good person and following god’s vibes” (which i feel like is INCREDIBLY standard in american protestantism)
i think a lot of it comes down to the fact that the forgotten realms (and a lot of fantasy tbh) treats the gods as just Very Powerful People instead of the forces of nature personified (and again this is to be expected from a christian culture, where jesus was Just A Guy)
