Ten Reasons Why You Need the Catholic Church:
I am seeking inquiring into the Catholic Church because it serves as a beacon of spiritual guidance, moral foundations, and communal support for individuals seeking meaning and purpose.

The Sacred Within the Flawed
A Paradox of Divine TextsIn an intricate dance between the divine and human, sacred texts from various religious and philosophical traditions find themselves at the nexus of reverence and scrutiny. These texts, while venerated as conduits of divine wisdom and moral guidance, are not immune to critique nor the acknowledgment of their inherent flaws. When we unravel the threads of any sacred text,…

to alienate students from Christianity is to alienate them from their own national history/heritage
#Bibles and the Ten Commandments and Sinners In The Hands Of An Angry God belong in public schools FOR ACADEMIC REASONS#if you are unfamiliar with the Bible you received a crappy second-rate education#respublica#mobile#x#Christianity#but also public schools are necessarily charged with moral guidance of students#because they occupy the bulk of those students’ time#and education necessarily imparts moral guidance#and for that reason ALSO the Bible should be in public schools

I don’t have a lot of energy for discourse but um. If you follow me and you genuinely seriously agree with what @/prxship has said about paraphiles and how they’ve treated another selfshipper because of it, I really don’t want you here, that mindset is unsafe and appalling to me
#like idk if you can be friends with someone who behaves like that#and you agree that paraphiles need therapy to dissuade them from some inherent urge they have to abuse#I dont. like you. I think you’re probably a danger to me as a paraphile and radqueer and honestly just as a queer person in general#I hate to assume morality from discourse because I know at least one mutual feels panicky seeing that#but at the very least I don’t want to be around someone that thinks any attraction means someone is going to abuse the object of#that attraction#and therefore needs therapy to help their sick twisted abuser urges#I don’t think anyone needs guidance to ‘cope’ with their attraction lest they hurt people#this post essentially is to say I don’t have the energy to go through prxship’s mutuals and friends and block them all#so if you’re with them on this and you’re gonna be interacting with them further in a positive way#we are not on the same side and I’d like if you blocked me

I genuinely think that Felix is the only one with some backbone when it comes to Dimitri but it’s also sad that he just doesn’t know how to help him. All he can do is to insult him and call him a boar and other stuff BUT I guess at least he’s the only one who acknowledges that he is literally Not Well right now
#txt#while everyone is literally all like.#ok Dimitri you have a point bc you’re our king!!!!#and in the meanwhile Dimitri is suffering from mental illness that’s just driving him crazy#it’s sad how nobody wanted to treat him as a equal and as a friend before everything happened#everyone was more set on the fact that he’s royalty#and their culture literally worships royalty and believes that royalty can do no wrong#that’s what it seems anyways#also me— sees Suffering Dimitri who’s in Pain and is thirsting for revenge: That’s my Babey Boy right there. I love him#I just want him to heal and get better 🥲#literally even Dedue said that he would follow Dimitri even if he slaughtered innocents or something like that#and I was like huh??? bro?? talk about blind loyalty that literally only does more harm than good. poor POOR Dimitri#he needed guidance and a moral compass and someone to be a friend to him and nobody was willing to give it to him#fire emblem three houses

the anti-"punch a nazi" social justice rhetoric evolution into... solidarity?
"you should love Y more than you hate X" people are SO close to getting it. hatred is a sterile emotion with no political good to come out of it. restorative justice > blood feuds. rehabilitation > capital punishment. politics of reconciliation > politics of resentment.
kindness > brutality
hatred elevated into a political signifier (and all hatred is reactive to a real slight or unmet psychological need, no matter how distorted the mediating logic is) literally always causes your activism to derail into something it isn't or target someone it shouldn't.
you should love goodness and when you realize the incredible amount of work that takes to actually embody -in my opinion, it's supernaturally hard, and at least would take a life of habit to perfect-, you literally do not have time/energy to hate anything.
i'm not saying you have to fix everything yourself all the time, or that you can't feel hate or anger or contempt, but if you truly are focused on the positive it's a passing storm and the less your focus on the harmful that the more you can focus on what is helpful. don't you see the world already has enough damnifiers?
the identitarian, sectarian undercurrents of social justice rhetoric have promoted an artificial anti-universal, anti-humanist mindset it can't escape from now easily. but you can. don't artificially deprive yourself of parts of your own humanity so you can dehumanize others, and then expect societies and cultures in which human beings don't dehumanize each other - even your own.
movements don't change without people in them changing. sadism is sadism. wishing to hurt people, for people to burn in hell, for people to rot, for people to be obliterated/forgotten, harm on their families/kin, etc, this is first and foremost an attack against your own humanity's breadth. call out that shit, reject it, dare speak out. idk just be fucking better than that or else don't act surprised others seek to capitalize on, in fact, cruelty and disunion.
it is disheartening and... small. we're all here just for a little while and we really don't need to make it worse, but we're doing it constantly for a little moment of satisfaction and a power rush. blergh.
#this is what 'be more christlike' means btw#and yes i'm christian i'm not mincing words about this#society literally needs values and moral guidance as much as people need material help#Matthew 4:4#christian#christianity#hebrew catholic#hebrew catholicism#humanism

the thing about timmy is that his moral center is absolutely emotional over cerebral. cerebrally he believes in the greater good above all. emotionally he believes its critically important to save even one person, that thats maybe the most important thing. and every time he will prioritize that second thing when it really comes down to it, which is why he gets so distressed every time he meets an evil gun timbats from the future or whatever. the timmies who stopped listening to their hearts. the timmies who stopped prioritizing their need to help. (tapping my mic) hello. is this thing on
#dc#like#its literally not bc dick is his moral center#he does often fall back and look to dick for guidance but#that core of needing to help was always there#and the conflict btwn the cerebral solution to the trolley problem and the emotional one (this time no one has to die) will always be#a core conflict for him#and when hes written right the emotional one will always win out#for the same reason that like in lotr they were right to save gollum#and that decision ultimately meant the good guys won#every life matters and even if he gets too in his head and forgets that. put him in a situation where he sees someones life at risk#he WILL do what he can to save them#timby#text

The Mahabharata: Values, Principles, and Right Life Conduit
Today I spoke with an Indian friend about some details from the Sanskrit version, and translation, of the Mahabharata – महाभारतम्, the epic Indian saga, that transcends a mere story, representing a religious book. Manuscript illustration of the battle of Kurukshetra. From Wikipedia Mahabharata is one of the two major स्मृति – Smriti texts (a body of Hindu written texts usually attributed to an…

i feel like there is so much to be said about drizzt do’urden’s religious views and how he’s a stand-in for culturally christian atheists. he grew up in a corrupt religious society and has religious trauma, so as a result he views all religion as bad. at first it seems like he’s going to have a “pagan finds jesus” story but he eventually rejects mielikki too, and imo, it always felt out of character that he followed her in the first place so i wasn’t surprised when he changed his mind. he was looking for a name to label his preexisting system of ideals, which feels very much like christians who claim “all that matters is that you live by the bible and live in a godly manner”. many religions are about teachings and traditions as much as they are about “just being a good person and following god’s vibes” (which i feel like is INCREDIBLY standard in american protestantism)
i think a lot of it comes down to the fact that the forgotten realms (and a lot of fantasy tbh) treats the gods as just Very Powerful People instead of the forces of nature personified (and again this is to be expected from a christian culture, where jesus was Just A Guy)
#ik i don’t really post about dnd lore bc most of it sucks ass and i prefer to ignore it lmao#only a very large sum of money could get me to reread those books tho lmao#it’s to be expected that they would apply morality to the gods when dnd has a morality system yk#it doesn’t work imo. but the way they approach religion feels like it was written by someone who is not religious and doesn’t rly understand#it’s the latent catholicism talking but religions aren’t synonymous with moral systems#it’s ethical guidance for sure but more than that#it’s belief AND practice AND also faith that you can’t know everything#the latter is kind of off the table in a world where the gods tangibly exist bc then it just becomes#‘the king is so powerful and better than you and has many secrets that he keeps for your protection’#in this type of religious system it makes all clerics seem like sycophants or fools#and yet we also have drizzt who says the gods and their worship are pointless#(which is why i never really bought that he was bought into mielikki)#if you want to make a criticism about systems of power. most fantasy still has kings and queens#been thinkin about drizzt and the drow a lot lately after one of my side moots and i were talking lol#and just how. utterly garbage the official lore is. from all aspects#mine#dnd
