•When you found out about your pregnancy the first person you told wasn't Tommy, it was Luda Mae

•You told Luda the news and she was delighted

•You were panicked

•Not only was this your first baby, it was an unplanned one

•Your family has a history of trouble-some pregnancies and with the nearest hospital being hours away, this possibilities really frighten you

•Luda had to calm you down and stop you from almost stress vomiting on yourself

•She sat with you as you sobbed and tried to collect yourself enough to make some kind of plan

•You talked about your options and while she was trying to sway to one way, she said it was ultimately your choice

•You both decided to wait two weeks before telling anybody

•You didn't want to get anyone's hopes up just in case something happened to you or the new-comer growing inside of you

•after the two weeks have passed you waited for Thomas to get done working for the night so you can tell him

•When he walked through the door to see you sitting in a rocking chair he was slightly confused

•Normally you're upstairs or in the kitchen

•He wasn't worried it was simply just out of the ordinary

•You got up and guided him up the stairs and into your shared bedroom

•You sit him down and slowly introduce the topic into the conversation before making your rehearsed announcement

•He was silent for a few seconds, just long enough to let your panic sleep into your bones

•A cool chill runs through you and you begin to back petal

•You tell him how long you knew and all the options you have

•You’re quickly to ramble on about how you don't need to have right this minute and you could wait for later down if that's what Thomas needed

•Thomas listens to your quickly and panicked speech for a little bit before gently grabbing your shoulders and turning you towards him

•He leans over and softly kisses your forehead

•He runs a hand down to your stomach and gently rubs the side

•His one gentle kiss turned into multiple fast pecks all over your face.

•It took him just hours to already make plans for what he wanted to do with his future child

•He was comforting you at every turn and freaked out Everytime you bumped into a countertop or a wall.

•Thomas practically stood over you all day everyday

•He wants to always have you in his sights, for his peace of mind and yours

•He brings you drawings of what crib, rocking chairs, and wood carved mobile he wants to hang over the crib

•He lets you watch and values your opinion over everyone else. When asked by other family members why, Thomas points to you as if to say ‘They’re the pregnant one.’

•When you started to show he would occasionally gently lift your belly to relieve you of the weight the baby puts on your back.

•He never really liked leaving the house and normally left that up to his brothers, but he wanted to help with the baby shopping

•he gently holds out baby blankets he thinks you'll like, but keeps in mind that Luda-Mae has be fiercely crocheting baby blankets and sewing baby clothes

•He actually cries when you hold up the little baby booties and compares them to his huge palm.

•He carries all the bags to your car and lets you drive him home with the yellow booties still in his hands.

•You fought hard to let the other Hewitts know you were giving birth in an actual hospital

•Everytime the birth was brought up it turned into a huge argument. “Every Hewitt was born in this house and they will continue to be born in this house!” Charlie and Monty argued

•You kept bring up your side of the family's history and how you're not willing to die and leave the baby with a house full of psychos no matter how much they tried to deter you

•When you eventually went into labor Luda was quickly to Hussle you and Tommy into the car

•Both of them respected your wishes and understood your concerns and allow you to give birth in the hospital a two hours away

•By the time you got there you were 8 cm dilated and every nurse was scrambling to get you a room and a doctor to deliver your baby safely

•It was bloody, tiring, and the most pain you've ever been in but by the time the baby was out you passed out

•They rushed to stitch you up and stop you from hemorrhaging and had to use their hands to assist you delivering the placenta

•When all's said and done your baby was safely in your arms

•Luda brought a camera to take birthing pictures and Thomas was clutching all the baby blankets

•Thomas was terrified by your body seemingly giving out and when informed you easily could have died, He was relieved he actually listened to you and not his noodle brained brothers

•while it was great to have your baby in your arms, you were in desperate need of sleep, so the baby was pawned off to Luda so she could help Thomas hold his new-born for the first time

•That moment was magical for him, and even though his mind was already made up, he knew he would die for this child if it ever came to that

•Luda left the room briefly to use the bathroom and That left Tommy with the smallest human being he's ever seen wrapped up in the hospital’s white with pink and blue striped blanket.

•The quiet of the room was what made him sob

•His sleeping partner and sleeping child all together as a family was enough to break him

•The car ride home a few days later was also silent

•He sat in the back seat with the baby's car seat watching as the hum and the vibrations of the car lull the child asleep

•He did leave that baby’s side for a second

•He was there when the baby cried, when the baby slept, when the baby needed a diaper change, he was there for every moment

•Until His brothers bitched at him to start working again

•Thomas, while wanting to stay with you and the baby, did understand he was the muscle of the house and he had work to do to maintain it

•He worked as fast as he could so he could be with you two again

•You had secretly been teaching your baby to say Dada because you know how hard Thomas is working and how dedicated he is to his family.

•When the child did say their first words ‘Dada’ Thomas actually ran around the living room as a victory lap.

•All that made better by your Child giggling

•Thomas has made toys out of bones, yes they are properly cleaned, he doesn't want to get his baby sick

•Nobody but You, Thomas, And Luda are allowed to hold the baby, He knows how harsh and clumsy his Brothers are and refuses to let them touch the baby

•Thomas isn't normal one to argue with his family but he made a vow to protect you and his children and by God he will kill Monty if it comes to it

•It really won't, But now Monty and Charlie know his serious

In which Charles curses himself with a Sleeping Beauty enchantment in order to confirm his feelings for Edwin and Crystal is the real MVP. I love this one because the boys are both SO stupid but in very different in-character ways.

I also recommend Promised, in which they kind of play the Green card angle to keep Edwin out of Hell? Which honestly needs to be more of a trope. And Tight Quarters, starring the boys trapped in a magic circle, leading to Forced Proximity induced Feelings Realization (in more ways than one! 😉).

Something I Can Turn To by DontOffendTheBees

I love some domestic fluff, in this case as an Everyone's Alive/Childhood Friends AU in which the boys are poor but happy living together. I liked how they both survive their respective traumas, but Reality Ensues.

I also recommend Lived My Whole Life Before the First Light for a lovely but melancholy Soulmate AU that goes for the "seeing colours" trope for extra wistful angst.

Dining at the Ritz by TerresDeBrume

Meeting the Parents fic in which Edwin's parents are awful and Charles is Not Having It. This has Everyone Thinks They're Dating and autistic Edwin stimming representation, plus discussions of racism, classism and ableism. The fic is also part of a great Modern AU series in which the boys attended St Hilarion's at the same time and Charles saved Edwin from a non-supernatural but still almost deadly prank. Highly recommended!

Listen, I can't get enough of undercover fake dating/relationships at a couples retreat, OK? Some minor angst but overall very cute and fluffy.

A fanfic where Edwin falls under a witches spell. Charles and Crystal go to the witch and demand the witch under the spell but the witch laughs and says the old cliché of "The spell can only be broken with true love's kiss~"

Charles is thinking well "Aces" because Edwin confessed his love already so nothing to it right? Only when Charles kisses him it doesn't work... so then they're trying everyone they know. Monty kisses him again, Nothing. Even though Edwin clearly prefers men, even Niko and Crystal give it a try. Still nothing...

They're running out of ideas until they realize one person they forgotten about. The Cat King. Despite their reluctance they summon the king of cats and Charles tells him that Edwin is under a spell that can only be broken with "True Love's kiss"

The cat king seems annoyed "Well do you need an audience? Kiss him, you already know how he feels." But Charles explains that they tried that already and it didn't work. None of their kisses worked.

"An you think mine will?" The idea is laughable to the Cat King. They're out of options, and although the Cat King is reluctant to kiss Edwin because he's asleep therefore he can not give consent, he finally agrees.

He leans down to give Edwin's lips the faintest brush with his own and sits back up. "See I told you it wouldn't work-" he's cut off as Edwin let's out a gasp and his eyes open wide. Edwin sits upright and sees all his friends looking at him owlishly. "What? What are you all looking at and why are you all here?"

Niko just squeals "Plot twist!" And the Cat King is looking at Edwin like the cat that got the cream. "Oh~ this is an interesting development indeed ~"

When James walked through the door he was greeted by a slew of French curses. He followed the increasingly frustrated sounds to the kitchen. 

“Hi, love, what you up to?” James asked, trying hard to hold back his laughter when he caught sight of his fiancé, elbows deep in cake batter and covered in flour. 

“Bordel de merde!” (For fucks sake!) Regulus growled as he sieved more flour into the mixture. “Sois juste un gâteau!” (Just be cake!) Regulus didn’t look up from what he was doing and seemed completely unaware that James had come in. “Pourquoi tu ne veux pas travailler?” (Why don’t you want to work?) He cried at the huge bowl. James stood up, Regulus was starting to get overwhelmed, and he knew it was time for him to calm him down. 

James wrapped his strong arms around Regulus and took the wooden spoon from his hand. He began stirring the runny mixture, folding the flour into it until it began to thicken. Regulus relaxed against his chest, the tension leaving his body. 

“What’s brought all this on, love?” He asked as he turned to pour the batter into the waiting cake tins. Regulus came along with him, trapped by James’s arms. 

“We’re going to see your parents, and they were so kind to me last time I wanted to do something nice. Mrs Potter said she really liked cake, so I thought I’d bake a traditional Victoria sponge. The recipe said it was easy, but it was a total lie.” James put down the bowl, wrapped his arms tighter around Regulus, and kissed his neck. 

“If Mum hears you calling her Mrs Potter again she’s going to blow a gasket,” He teased as he continued kissing Regulus’s soft skin. “You could have bought a cake, and she’d have loved it.” 

“It’s not the same!” Regulus cried out, twisting in James’s arms so he could see his face. “Effie said she loves nothing more than a bit of homemade cake, so that’s what I’m making, because - because…”

“She already loves you Reg," James assured him when the reason for Regulus's mania clicked. "You don’t have to do all this because in her eyes you are family and her love for you is unconditional.” He waited while the myriad of emotions flashed across his face. Eventually, he nodded and let his forehead fall onto James’s chest. 

“Can we make the cake anyway? I worked so hard on it. I might just buy a cake for tomorrow as this one is bound to be rubbish.” James grinned down at him. 

“Of course, we can love. Though, I bet it’ll be the best cake Mum’s ever had because you made it, if you decide to take it tomorrow.” Regulus rolled his eyes at him but wiggled out of his arms so he could put the tins in the waiting oven. 

“Regulus, this is the best Vicky sponge I’ve ever had,” Effie declared as she literally licked her plate clean. Regulus bobbed his head as he flushed beet red. 

“Told you so,” James whispered sweetly in his ear before kissing him on the cheek.

I think the thing that's fueling my Dead Boy Detectives fic series is that almost every major character has had some sort of interesting/unhinged interaction with every other main character. Like beyond the incredibly interesting/fleshed-out relationships between the main four detectives we have examples like:

1) Cat King and Monty forest interaction where the Cat King toys with Monty in order to both protect/play with Edwin

(Which, by the way, the Cat King knew about Monty before the forest scene when he shapeshifted into him by the lighthouse. So, like, did he know what Monty's secret identity was then and just straight up didn't say a word because he felt like it? Or did he figure it out later?)

2) Jenny straight up meeting Charles and Edwin only after being possessed by a demon and literal minutes before her shop gets blown up leading to the iconic "you were about to leave those boys forever now you're going to risk your life to save them" line

3) Jenny only meeting David to sing Belinda Carlisle/threaten him with a meat cleaver and get her SECOND near-death experience

4) Hell, on the meat cleaver POV: first and only time Niko meets the Cat King it's to threaten him with a meat cleaver and clock him for his interactions with Edwin (same goes for Crystal even though it's her second time meeting him)

5) Any scene Charles has one-on-one with Monty plus the bit on the sidewalk where Monty straight-up bypasses him for Edwin and Charles just goes "I was polite, wasn't I?" while the girls are clearing him away for Edwin and Monty to flirt

6) Night Nurse and Kashi. Everything about those interactions are *chef's kiss.*

7) Same goes for Night Nurse and Niko. Their dynamic is so fucking good and leads to the fantastic "reading comprehension" bit.

8) And from a more devastating/angsty POV, the scene with Esther and Monty in episode 5 where Monty feels more like a teenager than any other character in the cast. And as much as Esther is a camp queen in that scene, it's also terrifying because that iron cane is against Monty's chest and she literally ripped him apart episodes before that and she's going to kill him again next episode with that very cane and your brain is just bouncing between laughing at the "it's honestly nbd" line and going on red alert because get the fuck out of there, Monty, you're going to die at her hands-

thinking about the fact that esther learns that edwin spent 70 years in hell from the cat king. and like, the thing is, it’s not a secret. edwin has no problems bringing it up to people he doesn’t know well, he literally brings it up to win an argument in the first episode. he’s very selective about the details, about how vulnerable he is about it, but the actual fact that he went to hell for an extended period of time is something he has no issue talking about. all of which to say: monty *definitely* knew. i struggle to believe, based on their interactions, that it never would have come up at some point and edwin considers monty a friend. definitely more of a friend than he was with crystal when he told her in episode one. and esther finds out from the cat king. and like, maybe i’m reading too much into it but i feel like there’s something there. because that is clearly information that would be relevant to esther, and monty knew it, and he did not tell her.

and edwin probably assumed he did.

Sadly there's no M/M/M/M fic of them yet and not even 3some fic of Cat King x Edwin x Charles, unbelievable. Besides, I can't read many Catwin's fic because I can't stand the scenario, the universe where Edwin and Charles stay friends for the rest of their death. The things you have to accept when you decided to live on both ships I guess.

P/s: I think I haven't passed by any fanart of Edwin's harem either and that's just sad :(
