Sobra Cafe, Sobra Experience
This is my second time to dine in Sobra Cafe. I really had a great experience last time so when my friend asked me to accompany her in Sobra Cafe, I didn’t hesitate to go with her because I know that they serve good food.
My friend drove from Imus to Alabang just to dine at Sobra Cafe and she indeed got a “SOBRA” experience.
It was a Sunday night and the only available seats were outside of the cafe. We took the outdoor seating and made our order, everything was good until the weather suddenly changed. Raindrops started and then the group behind us requested to be transferred, then the other customer transferred on their own to the covered seatings. We couldn’t transfer as there are no other available seats for us to transfer on our own and we already have food on our table, and since they were assisting the group behind us, we assumed that they are just going to assist them first and then us for the transfer because it’s evident that we’re starting to get wet due to the raindrops.
Unfortunately, no one assisted us and we tried calling their attention but no one came. So I personally went inside and asked for a “bill out” as it’s starting to rain and our food is getting wet.
I’m not sure if it’s the manager or supervisor who approached us after. He told us that he’s going to check upstairs if there’s an available seat. I firmly said right away that we’re leaving. Then my friend asked why no one assisted us, then the guy from Sobra Cafe said that it’s because we didn’t ask.
Like what? You already knew the situation, shouldn’t you at least initiate to ask if we’re okay or if we would like to transfer? Then later on, he said that they can’t transfer us because they don’t know if there are available seats, and he added that he doesn’t want us to get wet but he wants to check first if there are available seats.
I told him that we and the food already got wet. That’s what happened. If I didn’t stood up on my own and went inside to call their attention, no one would. I already had an experience before in a rooftop bar in BGC wherein suddenly it rained.
The first thing that they did was to assist us to transfer in a covered area along with our orders. Then when we are already in the covered area, that’s the time that they decided where we can seat and continue eating.
See the difference?
I really got pissed when the guy from Sobra cafe said, “Then I apologize”. The way he said it, insincere and with emphasis as if that he HAS TO APOLOGIZE JUST TO FINISH THE DISCUSSION BUT INSISTING IT AT FIRST THAT THE REASON WHY WE DIDN’T GET TRANSFERRED IS BECAUSE WE DID NOT ASK.
He said that they’re losing customers when it’s raining because they don’t have an umbrella. And yes, indeed you will continue to lose customers with that kind of service.
I know that you’re not a five star dining restaurant like the others that I’ve been but at least, have a good customer service as we are a paying customer.
It’s unfortunate that this is the kind of SOBRA experience that my friend got after driving from Imus just to have this kind of dining experience after her birthday.

day well spent 😌
my sister’s jowa visited us this weekend. they were planning to have a date, so i said “tara double date!” and i immediately asked ryan to come with us.
then eventually i changed my mind kasi i know he’s from night shift work. he needs to rest. but still, he insisted.
we went to MOA. walked and had fun.
ryan came during dinner when we’re about to eat. i’m a little nervous because this is the first actual time that we will be alone. since i invited him to a double date, he wanted to bring me along to a reunion with his childhood friends.
after dinner, my sister wanted to go home already since they are already tired. we waited for the van to make sure they’re safe. then me and ryan went to find his car.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA THE MOST EPIC THING HAPPENED. HE CAN’T REMEMBER EXACTLY WHERE HE PARKED IT. we were walking for like 30mins, trying to find the parking lot. we were laughing how dumb he is because he can’t remember a single thing.
we saw an elevator, i assumed that’s it since the parking lot is in the fifth floor but he said it’s not that. we continued walking and walking until he realized as well that the elevator might be the way upstairs. i was right 😩 we are laughing so much!!!!
“there’s always a first time.”
my first passenger princess experience. i was touched. i felt like a little kid, i remember my father taking us to a roadtrip. little heart is happy.
we went to his childhood friend’s house where the celebration was. they were happy to see me, i can feel the excitement seeing me the first time. as the same time, they are happy for us. ryan and me. “hi bebuuuu kami na ang bago mong jowa” 🥺💙 then we went to Molito to spend the night and catch up. they were all fun to be with.
after that, we went to tita. ryan and i were both happy, until she shared how her fiancée cheated on her.
i saw how the story triggered ryan as one survivor of a relationship with full of cheating history. i felt sorry. i said “wag ka mag-alala, hindi mo na mararanasan ulit yan.”
he drove me home. i kissed him goodbye.
what a day well spent.

Bless the LORD, O my soul
Isaiah 41:17–18
[17] When the poor and needy seek water,
and there is none,
and their tongue is parched with thirst,
I the LORD will answer them;
I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them.
[18] I will open rivers on the bare heights,
and fountains in the midst of the valleys.
I will make the wilderness a pool of water,
and the dry land springs of water.
Lord, how true is this in my life! You give grace upon grace.
Whenever I need anything, anything at all, You are the ever flowing spring of life who delights to give.
Just this last week, I witnessed this again. The recent overwhelming confusion and pain drained me to the dumps but You bid me go on. So I did, not wanting to make my life about myself. I reluctantly fetch strength from You, for hesitant as I might seem there is one thing I am sure of: I know Your deep well never runs dry. And I went on with work, ministry, and stayed connected with my fellow believers. I was assigned as a prayer leader for our dgroup last Friday and the topic was about praying for enemies. Sometimes, You really do know how to humor me, Lord. You know I would dread that but seeing that it was necessary for my soul, You gave it to me. So even with a distressed soul, I prayed and fought the war to keep choosing You instead of myself. Of course, I take no credit in this. I know it is You who supports and leads me, like a toddler depending on a parent's hand to walk him properly. Saturday came, and I did laundry, asked wisdom from a core leader, had a date with Gabby, dgroup after that, and helped as floor director in B1G service. The speaker had more instructions than the previous ones but I was glad Ate Joy was there to assist me; she was another grace from You. Sharl just came back from Isabela and she invited me to have dinner and catch up with her to which I happily obliged. We went to The Olive Tree at Molito as she wanted, and when I saw the price of the food, I worried a bit. It was more than I was willing to spend on a dinner but I thought to myself, "It's Sharl anyway, I'm willing to spend this much for her." But when we were done eating, she made our dinner her treat. I was quite surprised but I took her kindness with much delight, Lord. Another providence from You! Before we end our dinner, I was getting anxious how I would go home. I texted Ashley who is my usual companion but she had dgroup. So I asked Ate Shalom if she could drop me off at The Village Square. She told me she would and that she was waiting for us at CCF. We walked back there and saw Kali who offered to drive me home instead and did. I was comforted by the series of kindness I have received that day.
Needless to say, I know it was all from You, Lord. Every little good thing that came from You, one after another, filled me with the wonder of Your love. I did not pray for all of it, but You gave them anyway. What riches I have in You! I am so thankful that You take great care of me even when I rarely praise You for it. I am looking forward to that day when I can thank You face to face and see the LORD who has bound Himself to love sinners like me. All blessing, honor, glory, power, majesty, and praise belong to You alone, our LORD.
